rewrite choices

These are my longest rewrites on my list. Some have been sleeping on the back burner of my mind for ages. So, now, I ask you, the readers, which of these you'd like to see first. Because I need to know where to devote regular writing time. Otherwise, I'll just wander over the landscape writing-wise. So.

Targeting A Cold Heart: Akoya x Io x Ryuu: Projected Word Count: 96,000: 32 chapters & 3,000 words per chapter. A tangled triangle of human, angel, and demon that will end up how you expect it and they don't.

Hunting The Hunter: Ruki x Renamon: Projected Word Count: 120,000: 30 chapters & 4,000 words per chapter. Somewhat like canon but also with active magic, shapeshifters, vampires, and other creatures of magic. Someone thinks Ruki is their fated love, but she has other thoughts on the matter. Ruki x Renamon.

Kept In Shadows: Shun, Yuuri: Projected Word Count: 120,000: 20 chapters & 6,000 words per chapter. Yuuri is a vampire. Shun is a shapeshifter. Yuuri likes keeping pretty things close - and hurting. Implied sex, but no actual romances (tenative Yuuto x Shun but not decided yet)

Across The Threshold: Ryou x Mizael: Projected Word Count: 130,000: 26 chapters & 5,000 words per chapter: Mizael the dragon keeps away from most people, and doesn't expect it when a vampire crosses his paths on a mission of his own. Ryou x Mizael.

Shards of Ice: Rio, Rin: Projected Word Count: 148,000: 37 chapters & 4,000 words per chapter. Rio has been a Frostflame for years. Rin is just frosted over. Ice isn't easy to control for one born to fire, but for the sake of Yuugo and the sake of her world, Rin will do what she has to do. Mild Yuugo x Rin, mostly Rio & Rin friendship.

Shards and Sunlight: Asuka x Mizuchi: Projected Word Count: 150,000: 35 chapters & 2,500 words per chapter. Asuka vanished years ago. Fubuki's still looking for her. Meanwhile, in the Barian World, Asuka, Queen of the Barians, searches for the past she can no longer remember, and meets someone she doesn't want to forget. Asuka x Mizuchi.

Keys To The Tower: Durbe x Chris: Projected Word Count: 200,000: 50 chapters & 4,000 words per chapter. In a world of magic, Sir Durbe finds a hidden tower with a sorcerer cursed to remain inside of it. He wants to break the curse, but it's not that easy. And there's a lot that Chris Arclight isn't telling him. Durbe x Chris.

To Frost To Flames: Ryou, OCs: Projected Word Count: 240,000: 40 chapters & an average of 4,000 words per chapter. Ryou is a nascent Firestarter, who ends up kidnapped while a child still. His life isn't in his own hands now - and it's going to be very, very cold. No actual ships but hints of Ryou x Yuusuke.

Eyes of Light: Kouji, Kouichi, Chosen: Projected Word Count: 250,000: 85 chapters & an average of 3,000 words per chapter. A rewrite of Digimon Frontier where Kouji and Kouichi meet just before the trip to the Digital World and end up traveling it together. No actual ships.

Rage, Revenge, & Reprisals: Lucemon, Black Mist, Chosen: 300,000: 75 chapters & an average of 4,000 words per chapter. Post both Zexal and Frontier. The last remnant of Black Mist and the last remnant of Lucemon cross paths. This isn't going to be good for anyone (but lots of fun for Lucemon and Black Mist). No actual romances decided (potential Kouji x Kouichi, potential Lucemon x Black Mist)

Way Too Easy: Yuuya, Yuuto, Yuugo, Yuuri, others: 360,000: 111 chapters & an average of 3,000 words per chapter. The war didn't happen when they were fourteen. It might not happen at all - or perhaps it'll happen in a different way, when the four boys end up as vampires. No decided ships as of yet.

Dragon Magic: Seto, Mokuba: Projected Word Count: 360,000: 90 chapters & an average of 4,000 words per chapter. AU where Seto and Mokuba are dragons. Possibly related to an old story of mine, possibly not. I need to plot more on it to be sure. No ships decided as of yet.

War of the Undead: Ryou, Samejima, others: Projected Word Count: 360,000: 80 chapters & an average of 4,500 words per chapter. In a world where Brron fused all the dimensions years ago, those who survive, humans and spirits alike, must forge a future together. Which isn't easy when someone's trying to engineer a war between zombies and vampires. If any ships, probably Ryou x Yuusuke.

Walk The Dark Paths: Projected Word Count: 450,000: 36 chapters & an average of 12,000 words per chapter. Yamato falls through a crack in the worlds and ends up in a place where he's - Piemon's son? Is that his own ancestry or is it something else altogether? (breeds-verse and breeds-verse AU)

Ninjetti Rebirth: Projected Word Count: 510,000: 85 chapters & an average of 6,000 words per chapter. A mild rewrite of the PRiS era, focusing on the Rangers on Earth, who gain new powers in order to defend Earth, leaving the Space Rangers free to fight Astronema in space. Ships of choice: Kat x Tommy, others mostly undecided

I answer most questions about these if anyone wants more details. These would take months to write, but they're the very longest. So I ask you readers for your thoughts and opinions.

[fanfic] To Awake

He wasn’t sure of how long he’d lain there. He didn’t remember where he’d been before here, or if he’d even been anywhere at all. There wasn’t much in his head, other than the fading sense of pain centered in his chest, and some sort of weight on his back.

He twitched. He couldn’t get up, not yet, but he tried to move and couldn’t. A fading instinct told him that he should breath but it wasn’t wrong to not breathe either. Everything seemed heavier now. It wasn’t a wrong feeling and he wasn’t sure of what he was comparing it to. But he felt heavy. He knew that much. Heavy and with a weight on his back.

Slowly he tried to open his eyes, at least. He could manage that. He lay on what looked like a beach – though how he knew what a beach was, he couldn’t have said. But this was a beach, though not one he could say he’d ever seen in his life – however long that might have been. The sand he could see was a pale red, and if he fought hard enough to raise his head, he could see equally red well, it wasn’t water, but it was liquid, at least.

“Are you sure you saw something this way?” A voice spoke. It wasn’t a voice that he recognized but he knew it was a voice regardless. Someone else was there – at least two someone elses.

He tried again to lift his head, twitching it to the side, and couldn’t quite make it.

“It won’t be them, Durbe,” the voice said, not waiting for an answer from whoever their companion was. The speaker’s voice held pride – he recognized that much, if nothing else.

“I’m aware of that,” the other voice finally replied. “But it could be something useful. Did you want me to call Vector for this?”

The proud voice, growing closer now, sneered. “No.”

The nameless one could hear the faint crunch of footsteps now and he made one more attempt. A sudden spike of strength came from an unknown place and he found himself sitting up. The weight on his back shifted, and he flopped half-over as he did. He tried to get a good look behind himself and couldn’t get his head bent around. Something was in the way – large and hard and a deep shade of blue.

Was it him? Was that a part of him?

Then he turned his head around to stare at the two who stood not that far away. Both of them seemed created of rock, just like he was. One’s skin was shades of gray, while the other in brilliant gold. The gray one didn’t seem to bother with anything like clothes, while the golden one wore a sort of sarong-like item, and had long golden hair as well.

That was the one that spoke, though neither of them possessed a mouth. But the nameless one knew the words came from him.

“Who are you? What are you doing here in the Ocean of Ill Will?” He bent closer, sharp eyes skimming up and down. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before.”

For a brief second, the nameless one thought that he should move lips that he found out in this moment he didn’t have. But the words sounded regardless.

“I don’t know.”

The golden one turned to the gray one. “He’s new. A new Barian.” There was a definite hint of wonder in his voice and the gray one nodded slowly before turning his attention there.

“Do you remember where you came from before here?”

Slowly he shook his head, trying one more time to move. This time he had better luck, since the golden one reached out to help him up. When he came to his feet, he tried to look at his back again, and saw the blue – whatever they were – there still. He reached one hand to brush against it and twitched – not just his hand, but the things there.

“Those are wings,” the golden one told him. “You have wings – not many Barians have those.”

Barians. Like so much else it wasn’t a name that he recognized, but it felt right even as he heard it. He stared down at himself. His skin was as hard and rocky as theirs, but a deep shade of blue. Tiny jewel were set on his joints, but they offered no impediment to moving. What held him before seemed to have only been weariness.

“I don’t remember anything,” he said at last, turning to look at them. One hand moved and there was a flicker of blue energy that became something solid – a deck of cards.

Oh. Yes. He knew now. He was a duelist. He picked up the cards and rifled through them cautiously. Cyber Dragons – the wings looked like what he could see of his own, even with tiny threads of metal there.

“I’m Durbe,” the gray one introduced himself before gesturing to the golden one. “This is Mizael. We’re two of the Barian Emperors. You, it seems, are a new Barian.” He gestured again, this time to some of the scarlet towers that now could be seen rising in the distance. “What Barians there are live there, except for the Emperors. We live there.” Another gesture, to a taller tower.

Mizael continued to regard him. “Are you certain you don’t know your name?

He knew that he shouldn't know it. But the question stirred up a small thought, a sensation that wriggled a trifle closer. He reached for it; was it his name? He thought it might be. It felt like a name.

“Lesath,” he said at last, and while he had no tongue to taste the words with, it did feel oddly right. Yes. His name was Lesath. It didn’t entirely feel right, but it felt like it was his.

Mizael held out his hand. “Let me see your deck,” he ordered. Lesath regarded him, the wings on his back flickering.

“Why?” This deck was precious to him. He knew very little, but he knew that at least. He wasn’t going to hand it over to just anyone.

“Because I want to see how good of a duelist you are,” Mizael said, crossing his arms over his chest. “You can either show it to me or duel against me.”

Lesath didn’t know much. His location, his name, the names of these two near-strangers, and that he carried this deck. He drew himself up and his wings spread broadly.

“If those are my options, then I will duel you.” He believed he could remember how to duel.

Durbe stepped to one side, a hint of interest in his eyes. Mizael took two steps back, his own duel disk appearing.

It was a short, rough, powerful duel. Lesath learned quickly that he did indeed know how to duel and he seemed to be reasonably good at it. Mizael was no slouch either, and their monsters roared in rage at one another. Lesath wondered if he heard words in those roars.

One other point he learned quickly – they used different styles. His was something called “Fusion”, while Mizael wielded a style called “XYZ”. Their talents were close enough that the duel ended in a stalemate, neither claiming true victory. But Lesath could not say he was unsatisfied with the results. Fighting someone this strong felt right in ways that he couldn’t deny.

Mizael brushed himself off after the duel. “Barians like you work for us,” he said a trifle gruffly. “Those are allowed to live in our palace, to make it more convenient. I want you to join the ranks of my servants.

Lesath shrugged. It wasn’t as if he had anything better to do with his time. He did need to learn about where he was – and maybe learn about where he was and how he’d gotten here. Who knew if he’d ever learn anything but it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.

And he really wouldn’t mind learning more about Mizael, either. That clearly visible pride attracted him, a mirror of his own.

“Vector will probably throw a fit that you picked him without giving anyone else the chance,” Durbe offered, definite hints of amusement in his voice. Mizael only shrugged.

“I don’t make my decisions based off of what Vector thinks,” he declared. “If he wants to argue with me about it, that’s his problem. Lesath is mine.”

Lesath didn’t think anyone had ever claimed him like that. He didn’t want to argue the point either. He wasn’t sure of who Vector was but he also didn’t care. He far preferred the company of Mizael and Durbe already. He wondered if he’d feel differently in the future.

He glanced at the ocean, then to the scarlet skies, and the red crystal tower that dotted the landscape. Not a world he knew anything of, but he thought with a little time, he could come to call it home.

Notes: Lesath is the name of one of the stars in the constellation Scorpio’s tail. The only birthday ever given for Ryou is November 1, which makes him a Scorpio.

One day I will write more about Ryou’s time as a Barian and his adventures there. He might even remember his real name one day.

[fanfic] Invitations

Nasch’s attention flickered from the tiny girl seated on the throne to his left hand to the door, then over to the knight who stood to his right.

“Everything’s working fine,” Durbe told him, voice pitched low to avoid being heard by anyone who wasn’t the King. “All of the invitations were delivered properly.”

Nasch’s eyebrows narrowed ever so faintly. “Including the one to Vector?”

“Yes,” Durbe nodded. He’d been in charge of seeing to that particular invitation, while common heralds and messengers managed the others. The effects of their work showed here and now.

As did the effects of his – there wasn’t any sign of Vector anywhere, nor had any of the guards posted sent a warning of any sort. Perhaps the false celebrations they’d set up elsewhere would be enough to keep him distracted.

Tiny Princess Isis – a child Nasch and Merag found after a harsh battle in a distant land and brought back with them – sat on the finely carved throne, her hands resting on her lap, glancing nervously about. This party celebrated her official adoption by Nasch and Merag, bringing her into their family.

Neither of them were inclined to marriage or offspring. Merag had pledged herself to the God of the Ocean and while it wasn't forbidden for her to wed if she’d met someone, everyone knew that the odds of her meeting someone she’d choose were slim to non-existence. Nasch had other reasons for not wedding – reasons that Durbe knew very well indeed.

Almost all of the guests had arrived. Emperor Leonius arrived early, along with his favorite gladiator Alit. Rumors ran that Alit was far more to him than a mere gladiator – a common arena fighter wouldn’t be brought along on this sort of trip. Nasch didn’t question. It wasn’t as if he didn’t know the teasing allure of those who weren’t born to a royal title.

Someone new entered the chamber – two someones, in fact. Nasch glanced up to see who it was. Durbe knew them at once, of course.

“Mizael!” Durbe moved over, smiling. Nasch recognized the name as that of a famous dragon tamer who protected a land to the north and east. Someone he didn’t know stood next to Mizael, glancing around, a bit uncomfortable here. “Who is your friend?”

“This is Ryou,” Mizael said, nodding towards him. “We met a few months ago. I thought he would enjoy visiting here too.”

The stranger nodded politely. “It’s as lovely as I was told.”

After a few more words, Mizael and Ryou moved on, while Durbe returned to his position at Nasch’s right hand. He didn’t move away from it except to greet another famous guest, a general who’d won great acclaim on the battlefield and appeared here with his newly wed wife, an accomplished singer and musician. Not every guest deserved to be greeted by either the King or his Knight personally.

Nasch considered having a meal brought. It had been a very long day and his stomach rumbled. He started to gesture for one of the servants, when a noise came from the entryway, and Durbe stiffened at once.

“He wasn’t invited,” Durbe muttered. Nasch’s eyes narrowed as whoever it was moved closer.

“Who is it?” He demanded to know. Durbe glanced back at him.

“Do you remember the sorcerer Arclight?” the knight asked, his attention returning to the approaching figure. Nasch nodded; he’d heard many tales of the sorcerer and his three sons. “That’s Thomas, the middle son. I know no one invited him. But he’s here.”

Nasch’s lips thinned at that. It looked as if he wasn't going to be getting his dinner as soon as he hoped he would be. But he wasn’t going to allow anyone to ruin tonight’s celebration. He could see Merag also glaring at the approaching sorcerer – or whatever he was.

“Does he share his father's mage-talents?” Nasch asked. He’d heard a few things about how the youngest of the three was a skilled swordsman and the eldest took after his father in mage-craft, but not very much about what this middle child could do.

“He’s a fire-mage,” Durbe murmured. “Very talented with them, too.”

Fire-mages were rare and hadn’t appeared often in his realm, which was far more dedicated to the ways of water magic than anything else.

“What are you doing here, Thomas?” Merag asked, standing next to Iris and glowering with all the fury of the ocean at the newcomer.

The fire-mage laughed, tossing his mane of red and gold hair, sunlight glinting off of it. “Well, hello, there, Merag.” His eyes glittered hungrily. “I suppose I should have expected to see you here.”

“Considering this is my realm too, yes,” Merag snapped back. “No answer me. You weren’t invited.”

“What does that have to do with it?” Thomas crossed his arms over his chest. “You invited all of them.” He waved one hand to where Emperor Leonius and Alit, Mizael and Ryou, General Gilag and Sanagi, and everyone else. “So why can’t I show up if I want to?” He smirked. “Not enough golden plates to eat off of?”

“We don't’ eat off of gold,” Merag replied flatly. “You weren’t invited because no one wanted you here.”

Silence fell. Thomas’s lips thinned before he looked past her to where Nasch began to rise to his feet.

“Well, if it isn’t His Majesty.” Thomas smirked, waving one hand, tiny flames dancing on the tips of his fingers. Nasch tried to tell himself that the sight wasn’t attractive and failed rather miserably.

You have Durbe already. But there stood Thomas, blazing bright, with gleaming dark red eyes.

“What do you want here?” Nasch asked, fingers twitching. He knew his guards watched carefully; if Thomas made a move that he didn’t like, then he’d be a pincushion inside of a handful of seconds.

Thomas smiled. It was much like the smile of a shark. Normally Nasch liked those, but this gave off a different feeling.

“I’m here for the same reason as everyone else is.” Again he waved one flame-tipped hand. “This is a party. I even brought a gift for the new little princess there.”

Merag moved closer to Iris. It had been her idea to adopt the little girl, who now wrapped one hand around Merag’s, trembling. Nasch stood next to his sister, glaring sharply at him.

“What kind of gift are you talking about?”

“Why, just this.” Thomas twisted his hands and then held out a small gem to Iris. “This is a sunstone – a gemstone connected to the power of fire. It will always keep you warm, no matter how cold it is around you.”

“We don’t get cold weather here,” Merag said. “Why do you want to give her that?”

Nasch wondered the same thing. It never got that cold here. So what was he thinking about?

“She might not spend her entire life here,” Thomas pointed out, doing his level best to appear innocent, and not being very good at it. “But it also carries a powerful protective spell in general. You can throw it in the ocean if you don’t want it. But it’s hers – shouldn’t it be her decision if she takes it or not?”

Nasch glanced at Iris, whose attention focused on the sunstone. Thomas flicked his fingers again and now a silver chain hung from the gemstone. He offered it to her, and she reached for it slowly.

“Thank you, sir,” she murmured. “It’s beautiful.”

Thomas smiled. It was probably the most genuine expression that Nasch had ever seen on his face. “It’s yours, then. Slowly he moved forward. Nasch found himself tempted to alert the guards, but he didn’t. Maybe the fire-mage actually meant well. He was just an ass – it wasn’t as if Nasch himself wasn’t the same way sometimes.

He slid the chain over Iris’s neck, then stepped back, glancing at Nasch and Durbe. “I didn’t just bring presents for her.”

Again his hands flashed with fire that coalesced into two polished gemstones, both of them a reddish-brown, a great deal like Thomas's own eyes, along with flashes deep inside of red, orange, and gold. It reminded Nasch thoroughly of fire itself.

“I brought these for you two,” Thomas said. “They’re fire agate.” A twitch to his lips. “Would you like to know what these gems mean?”

Nasch started to open his mouth, but Durbe beat him to it. “They increase physical energy and stamina. Or so the stories say.” He rested one hand on Nasch’s shoulder, and Durbe suspected there was something more to those gems than just stamina.

“That they do,” Thomas agreed. “But I also added something else for them. When you want to see me, all you have to do is touch them and call my name.”

“Why would we want to see you?” Nasch wanted to know. None of the tension had faded since he’d entered the chamber.

“Oh, who knows. You might want to talk. Or something else.” Thomas smirked. “Now, I came all this way. I want something to eat. You do have refreshments, don’t you?”

Nasch crossed his arms. “I could use something myself.” And he would definitely want to make sure that Thomas still didn’t cause any trouble.

He wasn’t sure of where those gemstones vanished off to. Perhaps Thomas just made them disappear again. But perhaps it didn’t matter, as for the moment, the fire-mage seemed content to accept a plate of food and settle down to eat. Durbe and Nasch picked up their own food, while Merag had a couple of plates brought to her and Iris.

Thomas nibbled on one of the finger foods and sipped from his wine cup. “This is a very nice party,” he said. “Let me guess, you didn’t invite Vector either?”

Nasch didn’t question how Thomas knew Vector. Everyone knew Vector, whether they wanted to or not.

“Of course we sent him an invitation,” Durbe said, a quick smile over his lips. “It just didn’t invite him to this party.”

“Clever.” Thomas leaned backwards. “I’m surprised you didn’t try the same trick with me.”

“We didn’t know you’d even want to come,” Nasch admitted. The Arclight family had been considered for the guest list, but Merag hadn’t wanted to. Nasch suspected that she knew more about the scar on Thomas’s face than either of them were ever going to talk about.

Thomas rested one hand over his heart. “I should feel wounded. Why wouldn’t I want to come? Now, my brothers – Christopher is busy with Prince Kaito. I think they’re sending a present of their own. Michael is busy somewhere else. I couldn’t say where – he’s trying to collect some ancient treasure or something. His lips pursed. “I think he teamed up with the son of an adventurer. They’re probably going to be busy for a while.

He shrugged and nibbled more of his food. “But I wasn't doing anything and if you’d sent me the invitation I probably wouldn’t have bothered.” Again that fiery glint in his eyes and Nasch tried to avoid thinking about it. He knew very well he was doing a very bad job of it. “But you didn’t – so I did.”

Durbe took a deep drink of his own. “So you just showed up because you weren’t invited.”

“Yes.” Thomas admitted without a care. He tilted his head up. “I probably won’t stay long. Too wet around here.” He caught Nasch’s eye and grinned. “But you can always invite me back with those gemstones. They’ll only work if you both use them at the same time. I wouldn’t want to break the two of you – up.”

The pause between words had to have been deliberate. He licked his lips slowly, eyes still fastened on Nasch and burning with an intensity fit to evaporate the ocean. Nasch didn’t look away, not even when he felt Durbe’s hand closing around his.

He’s offering – is he? Nasch wanted to think he knew but this was the first time Thomas had ever stood face to face with him. Why would he make an offer like that? He couldn’t possibly mean it.

Durbe’s thoughts ran in the same direction. “You hardly know us. Why would you claim that?”

“Claim what?” Thomas needed a lot of practice if he were going to sound innocent but he certainly gave it a good attempt. “I said you could invite me back. What do you do with guests to your kingdom?” He waved both of his fire-tipped hands again. “Really.” He also tried to sound offended. He was much better at that.

Nasch refused to commit himself and concentrated on getting his dinner finished. The other party-goers ate as well, mingling and chatting amongst themselves. Nasch could hear a few whispers that seemed more or less wondering exactly what Thomas was up to. No one else dared challenge him, and Nasch wanted to believe they thought that he could handle the matter if necessary.

Once Thomas finished, he rose to his feet. “It’s time for me to go. But as I said, invite me back any time. Perhaps I could get used to your realm if I see it often enough.” He glanced to where Merag glowered towards him. “And a good day to you as well, Highness.”

In between one breath and the next, a column of fire erupted from his feet, and when it faded away, Thomas wasn’t there anymore. Nasch glanced at Durbe, who looked more than a little relieved at his departure.

“Later,” Durbe murmured. “After the party.”

Nasch agreed; this was something far better discussed behind closed doors. The party didn’t last much longer after that; everyone finished their food, bid Nasch, Merag, and Iris good night, and retired to their quarters. The celebrations would go on for another three days, and Nasch expected everyone would be exhausted by the end.

He hadn’t been in his room long before the expected quiet tapping came, and Durbe followed a breath afterward. He moved over to embrace his lover for a few seconds.

“Do you think he was serious?” Durbe wanted to know as they settled down on the bed. Nasch brushed his fingers through Durbe’s wind-roughened hair. He’d probably gone on a flight with Mach before coming over.

“I doubt it. But we can test him to find out if he is. He claimed he’d be a guest. Let’s show him what the real hospitality of the realm is.” Nasch smiled his own shark-like smile. “He’s a fire-mage. He should know it’s not wise to play with water or air either.”

Durbe regarded him for a few moments before he laughed. “You’re right.” He slid one arm around Nasch and pressed a kiss against the king’s lips. “But we can talk about that later, too.”

I've just been going over my WIPs and prompts and made a decision. While I've said I want to empty out my inbox this year, that won't be a thing, sadly. Because combined, my plans for both WIPs and prompts comprise over a million words. That would require writig over seven thousand words a day and that's not even remotely possible for me.

So, I'm going to focus on my WIPs and I will work on filling prompts as best I can, but I cannot promise anything will be done at any given point. We'll see how it all comes out. I have a bad habit of making fills very complex and the ideas just won't go away. So I'll do my very best.

So, this means the following prompts (i.e., all of them) are on hold until I can clear through more of my WIPs. I'm honestly tempted to alternate them, now that I think about it. Finish a posted WIP, write a fill, finish a posted WIP, lather, rinse, repeat. Which means next is finishing a posted WIP.

AUs/series/prompts

I've thought about doing this for a while and I finally settled down to do it.

I have a lot of AUs and series to write in. So, here is a reasonably definitive list of all the AUs & series I will write in for any tumblr prompts, currently sitting in my inbox or in the future. If you wish to see a fic set in a given AU/series, then ask and I will let you know if that can be done. This includes already requested prompts and new ones. Some can't be written into anything already in existence. Some I just won't do (if you've followed me for any length of time you can guess what I won't do). But here we go.

I smoothed this out some because the post just wasn't reading right on mobile.

Digimon

Breed AUs: 7 of the 12 Chosen Children are part or full Digimon and have Digimon attacks/powers. Five of them are sired by Viral Digimon and have darker personalities waiting to take command in certain situations. Often (but not every time) Ken is Kaiser not because of the Spore but because of his Viral blood/data.

YGO GX

Dead Weight: It's a zombie apocalypse. People die. Sometimes they get back up to eat the ones who aren't dead yet.

Reversal: In this world, Juudai is the incaration of the Darkness of Destruction. He's true evil and bent on world conquest - and doing a very good job of it. There is no Duel Academia. Prompts can be for before Juudai captures Johan or after.

Destructive Flames: A combination of my Reversal AU & Firestarter/Healer AU.

World of Fusion: Many years ago, Brron managed to fuse all twelve dimensions, creating a restructured reality. He also ended up raising Juudai, Johan, and Rune. Ryou is a vampire. There's a war between vampires and zombies.

Extra Spirits: The setting for Royal Hound (one-shot series), Unexpected Ally (Amon meets the spirit Squall), and others to come. Certain folk meet spirits that aren't their partners but their friends.

Hell's Ice: A world where Ryou is the one taken by Kagemaru and Amnael and develops a connection to snow, ice, and cold as he works to become one of the Seven Stars.

Paladin's Quest: Five years after the end of GX, Ryou finally passes away. But that's not the end. He awakens in a new world, and must learn who he now is - a Duel Spirit. But his past life won't let him go.

Bridges: In this AU, Juudai is the Light of Creation (and the Light of Destruction's host), while Johan is the Darkness of Justice. There are also demons that the Cyber duelists hunt.

YGO Zexal

On Dragon Wings: Mizael is a dragon, Vector is a demon (of sorts), the Arclights are cursed, and so much more.

These are series that revolve around a particular character/characters/ship of mine.

Ken x Daisuke/Kaiser x Daisuke

Fight To Remember: Kaiser and Daisuke both have amnesia and must work together to get their memories back.

Stirring Shadows: Ken's dreams become more than dreams and revive the past.

Scars of Victory: Kaiser won. He kept Daisuke as a prize and sealed off the Digital World from the human world for seven years. Now the older surviving Chosen come to avenge their friends but they're up against an experienced ruler and his most obedient slave, and they have very few friends to stand beside them.

Services Rendered: After Daisuke is poisoned, only the Kaiser can help him. And he demands Daisuke himself as the price for doing so.

No Good Choices: Daisuke eats something he shouldn't have and ends up as the Kaiser's captive. And that's just where things begin to go wrong.

Bonds and Bondage: Kaiser decides to just get to the point and Ring V-mon that fateful second day. And it has an unexpected effect on V-mon's partner.

Fragmented Memory: Kaiser wipes Daisuke's memory with Mushrooms of Forgetfulness and takes him as his consort.

Errors of Love: Daisuke trusts the Kaiser. He probably shouldn't. Rated R/M, non-con.

What He Wants: Aged up!AU. Kaiser takes Daisuke, in many ways. Rated R/M, non-con.

Sanguine Bindings: Aged up!AU crossed with vampire AU. Kaiser is the vampire and enslaves Daisuke on their first encounter. Rated R/M, non-con, brainwashing

Purpose of Existence: Aged up!AU & breeds. Kaiser learns something about Daisuke and takes him. But he's not the only one who wants Daisuke.

Take To The Skies: A wings!AU, specifically featuring Ken/Kaiser and Daisuke. Kaiser has captured Daisuke and keeps him as a plaything/pet.

Bitter Bargain: AU where the Kaiser has been fought for years and now that they're in their mid-to-late teens, he blackmails Daisuke for sex.

Walking The Edge: aged up!AU. The Chosen have fought the Kaiser for years, but are unaware of his true identity. Daisuke's been dating Ichijouji Ken for years. Then the Kaiser decides to end the charade.

Yubel x Juudai

The King's Champion: When Juudai's parents are killed in a late night burglary gone wrong, Yubel takes him to the monster worlds to keep him safe. He ends up growing up as Brron's adopted son. But taking Juudai away from Earth ends up causing severe consequences, especially when those who would have been his friends find their way to his world.

Fate's Heart: A set of fics involving soulmate markers/counters in diferent styles.

Past and Future: Yubel tells tales about their past life to Juudai.

Shun & Yuuri

Collars and Keeping: Most people in XYZ are carded in the invasion. A few, however, are claimed by some of the invaders. This includes Yuuri claiming Shun. M/R rating.

Strike Hard, Strike Fast: Yuuri, Dennis, and Sora are vampires. Shun and Ruri are vampire hunters. Yuuri doesn't like Ruri, so when the chance to gain some vengenace via her brother comes up, he takes it.

Confusing: Yuuri enjoys himself toying with Shun's memories.

Dragon & Falcon: Yuuri is a dragon. Shun is a shapeshifting falcon. Yuuri decides he wants to keep Shun, and finds out what a dragon's saliva can do to a shapeshifter. Potential for R/M rated works.

Crossovers

Replacement Vampire: Digimon Adventuer 02/GX: Camula x Ruthven; vampire!Ryou: Vamdemon appears in the world of GX post 02 and meets Camula. After an encounter with Darkness, they end up turning Ryou to take Camula's place in the Seven Stars.

Elemental Ties: Digimon Frontier/GX: Juudai and Kouichi are both Darkness, so have a connection. The same holds true for Kouji and Johan, Manjoume and Junpei, and others.

Scorpion Strike: YGO GX/YGO Zexal: Ryou x Mizael, Shou, amnesiac!Barian!Ryou

General AUs, any fandom

Soulmates: various forms of soulmate identification

Magical AUs: characters have magical powers of varying kinds and/or are magical creatures

Fae AUs: one or more charaacter(s) are fae/elven/etc

Demon/angel AUs: one or more character(s) are a demon/angel (or sometimes a different magical species. Often can cross with magical AUs and/or fae AUs)

Wings!AU: a certain amount/all characters have wings and are flight-capable

Healer/Firestarter AUs: a respectable portion of the population can either heal via magic and have a deep connection to plants; an equal portion can cause/create/control fires. One Healer and one Firestarter (sometimes more, depending) are bonded to one another in a relationship that's not always romantic but is lifelong.

Vampire!AUs: one or more characters is/are a vampire. How they deal with this varies according to the character and the story.

Soulmate-wings!AUs: In this AU, people develop wings either when they meet their soulmate or when they discover their truest passion in life.

Pet Clouds AU: Sparked by a tumblr post, in this world, various characters have pet clouds/thunderclouds/snowclouds that aren't quite sentient like humans but are independently alive like standard pets.

Combos: Any or all of these can be combined. I intend to write a breeds/Healer-Firestarter/soulmates AU one of these days, for example.

01: What is your favorite fic you have under your belt? I don't think there's an answer to this. I love virtually all of my fics to some degree or other.

02: What is your favorite snippet of dialogue? I have written so much dialogue that it's hard to peg one in particular. But let's see: This is from Yuuri, in Rewards of Losing:

“This is all for your own good, after all. I saw those cards you had back there.” Again his fingers played through Ryou’s hair, so soft, far too soft, his words whispering deep into Ryou’s ears. “It’s bad enough that Dennis learned how to use XYZ and he needed that for his mission. You didn’t and you still had some? Unforgivable.” Soft fingers pressed against the side of his neck and Ryou jerked hard, eyes going wide at the jolt of pain. “But I will forgive you, because I wasn’t there to keep you on the right path. Bond or no bond, you have tasks to do that only I can guide you in.”

I feel like I did Yuuri well there, the little sadistic jerk.

09: What’s the fic you like the least?

Probably a Kouji x Izumi drabble I did, or some other drabble for a branch of the fandom I'm not overly familiar with. The perils of accepting so many challenges.

14: What’s your favorite shipping fic you’ve written? Favorite gen fic?

Pretty much anything with Yubel and Juudai, really, with Ken and Daisuke as a close second. My Ryou x Mizael fics are also favorites (and Ryou x Yuusuke). As for genfic... hm... I'm very much looking forward to finishing Kingseeker so I can really develop Dark World and Guardian Baou in general. That's just going to be fun!

okay, a bit later than I'd thought at first, but here is my rewrite list. It is long because I've been at this a while. My goal isn't perfection but to have every fic be at a point where it's A: finished and B: I like it the way that it is. This list will probably never be finished, but I'm going to do whatever I can.

Now, this is what I've got here. It's all divided into sections: rewrites, fics planned for Bad Things Happen Bingo and event weeks/months, and tumblr prompts being answered. [fanfic] Rewards of Losing

Another pleasant evening, made even better by a successful duel. Ryou stepped out of the door, enjoying the warm summer air. Much better than the chilly inside of his current – location. He didn’t want to think of it as a lair, though the half-dozen opponents he’d called here would probably disagree.

Of course, they were all cards now. He wasn’t going to worry about their opinions.

But he’d done all that he could here. He’d sealed some of the finest duelists in the XYZ dimension in cards and had a very good idea of how XYZ Summoning worked. He was only one of several operatives from Fusion in this world, seeking out information and taking care of potential troublemakers before they ever knew there would be trouble to make.

That meant that he needed to destroy this place as quickly and cleanly as possible and then head on to his next location. It wouldn’t take long; he kept virtually nothing here anyway. All he needed was the time.

He would make certain that this wasn’t the only place that burned. It would have to burn totally but it would need to spread, just to cover his tracks. A building that only burned when it was surrounded by other, equally flammable buildings, would quickly give away that an unregistered Firestarter roamed the area. The locals – the Guild, he’d learned they were called – would start looking for said Firestarter.

Ryou had a lot invested in not being found and he’d done a very good job so far. He kept himself distant from as many people as possible, while not being standoff-ish to the point it caught other people’s attention. He couldn’t hide being a Firestarter but he could fly under their radar.

And once the invasion starts, I won’t have to hide at all. He didn’t know when the invasion would start. But he suspected it would be soon. Everything had to be put into place and enough people trained to make it happen.

Of course, Fusion and the Professor’s preparations had been built up for quite a while already.

He started to go back inside, intent on getting his prizes and starting the fire. But something across the alleyway shifted, and Ryou stopped, staring intently. Had someone connected to one his opponents followed him here?

He couldn’t see who it was, but his Firestarter senses flared up – he might not know who it was, but he could tell what it was.

There’s a Healer there. That didn’t seem quite right. What would a Healer be doing around here, even if they were allies to an opponent?

“Who are you?” He asked, wary, hand ready to activate his duel disk at a moment’s notice.

The voice that came back was – different in some ways that he’d never heard before. Soft and firm, laced with all the raw power of a Healer at least on his level, but coming from – farther down? A child? No, it couldn’t be.

“I am Kei. And you must stop.”

Ryou’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about?” Had they somehow seen him? If that were the case, then he’d make sure that they were the next one that he carded. He couldn’t allow them to spread the word. Even if he could escape, it would put the invasion at risk. He couldn’t let that happen.

“What you’re doing. Turning those who fall against you into cards. Denying yourself. You must stop.”

Ryou pressed his lips together. So they had seen him. He would at least give them a good duel before carding them, regardless of their age. “If you want to stop me, then you’ll have to defeat me.”

“That won’t happen.” A soft whisper of a laugh. “I cannot duel, my Firestarter.”

“What?” Ryou shook his head. “I’m not your Firestarter. I already am courting someone else.” Though truth to tell he wasn’t especially thrilled about it, but Firestarters and Healers at Academia weren’t always given the choice on who they courted or bonded to.

“You are. But as to why I can’t duel -”

Ryou could see a pair of gleaming gray eyes moving out in the darkness. They reminded him of Shou’s eyes, though not even as high off the ground as Shou’s would be, and they were – they had -

A light hung not that far from where he stood, so he saw what came out of the shadows very clearly. He simply didn’t believe what he saw. Slowly he shook his head. It wasn’t right. It wasn’t possible. But there it stood regardless, staring at him relentlessly.

It was a cat. A very large cat, one that he might have even thought of as a panther. The cat’s head rose at least to his waist and was as black as a starless night. Intelligence gleamed in those gray eyes that regarded him so calmly.

“No,” he whispered, shaking his head again. He’d clearly taken a harder hit in that last duel than he’d thought. That alone made sense. He wasn’t seeing a huge cat and if he did see a cat, the cat wasn’t talking to him. It wasn’t possible.

The cat did not smile. But from the set of the shoulders and the way the tail curled around the cat’s front paws, Ryou knew that it was amused at him.

“As I said, I am Kei. I am your Healer Cat. You are my Firestarter. Or we will be.”

Again Ryou shook his head. “Even if you exist – and you don’t – Yuuri doesn’t take very well to challengers.”

Yuuri won the right to court him against four other Healers. There wasn’t much left of them. If one could call mulch “much” anyway.

Kei’s tail twitched, head raising upward in a very confident gesture. “You may rest assured that I don’t care what he thinks. You are not his. You are mine.”

If this cat was as possessive as Yuuri – no. He’d hit his head, that was all there was to it. He wasn’t hearing this.

“I don’t have any food for you. Go try somewhere else,” Ryou snapped, turning on his heel and stalking back into the building. He locked the door behind himself and hurried to pick up the few items that he wanted to keep. He wasn’t even going to think that what had just happened could even be close to being real.

The last thing he needed in his life was another creature as possessive as Yuuri. It hadn’t yet been decided that they would bond, but as the two respective most powerful Firestarter and Healer at Academia, most people expected that they would, sooner or later. Ryou more or less expected it himself. Who else would he bond to, when he’d never met another Healer who came close to him in power?

Kei had that strength. Ryou knew that even when he didn’t want to know it. There wasn’t a single Firestarter or Healer who could have missed it.

But that’s a cat. Cats can’t be Healers. Or Firestarters. I’m hallucinating. He truly wanted to believe that with all of his heart. He didn’t dare think of what the other options might be.

He packed up what he needed – the decks and the Duel Disks would be sent back home, which meant that anyone searching for them here wouldn’t find them – and found himself grateful all over again that the building had no windows. He stepped out of a different door, cautiously making certain that no one was in the area to see him.

Especially not anyone with black fur and gray eyes.

At least on this side of the building, there were far more streetlights, which meant far fewer places for a large black cat – that didn’t talk, because cats couldn’t talk – to skulk around. He took the time to change out of his Academia uniform to the street clothes he’d picked up to help blend in around here. Perhaps the cat wouldn’t notice him like this.

I’m not trying to avoid a talking cat. He would tell himself that as often as he needed to.

When he was a decent distance from the building, he turned and regarded it for a few moments. His eyes narrowed and his mind lashed outward, igniting the building. Flowers of flame unfolded from one particular side of it, not that far from a bar. The fire probably wouldn’t spread that far, but it would likely be written off as a late night drunk doing something that he shouldn’t. With a small effort of will, he made sure the fire burned bright and strong enough so erase every trace of his presence.

He could hear fire alarms already on the way. He could only stay long enough to make sure any local Firestarters didn’t hear anything about him from the fire. Flames did not identify people by their names, but they could still give enough information to make him quite uncomfortable.

“This has to stop.” Again the cat sat there, tail curled around their paws, staring at Ryou. “You’re hurting people. You know this is wrong.”

Ryou’s first instinct was to correct that. He hurt people because he needed to; because it would help his people when the invasion came. But he wasn’t going to talk to a cat about things like that.

Instead, he finished off the fire, turned on his heel, and headed off into the night. The cat didn't follow.

Not that he looked. Really.

Kei watched his Firestarter until he was out of sight – a distance far greater than a human’s eyes would have been able to. He’d been watching this Firestarter for several days, learning what he could about him.

That wasn’t nearly as much as he wanted. For all that a Healer Cat could tell certain things about any Firestarter, most especially their Firestarter, he couldn’t quite pin down important points about Marufuji Ryou.

He knew that the Firestarter was a Firestarter, and one strong enough and with the right personality that if the wrong event happened, he might well frost over. A nascent Frostflame needed an equally strong partner, or even two on occasion.

He’d known before Ryou said a word that someone else was courting him. If one could call it courting. He could smell the scent of the other, a little faint but there, and he also smelled cruelty. It wasn’t so strong as to indicate it came from Ryou himself, though Ryou did have a few streaks of that himself. Not so much as to turn Kei off, though.

Slowly he got up and followed. He’d tracked Ryou to where he lived some days before and didn’t need to go behind him to get there. But he wanted to keep an eye on his future partner regardless.

What else he knew could be summed up very quickly and easily. Ryou wasn’t from this world. He didn’t carry any of the scents of it beyond what he’d picked up from living here for a scattering of months. But the fact he didn’t even know Healer Cats existed made that absolutely plain.

There were other cues as well. The way that Ryou didn’t seem to know what dueling just for pleasure was came close to the top of the list. He only dueled when he would turn his opponent into a card at the end.

That would definitely have to stop. He wasn’t sure of why Ryou was doing it – he couldn’t read the Firestarter’s mind, only be aware of certain emotions – but it could not keep on happening. He wasn’t even certain of how Ryou did it. That would have to be changed as soon as possible.

Silently Kei slipped through the night, considering his options. He knew the first and most powerful thing he needed to do – bond to Marufuji Ryou. It wouldn’t entirely eliminate his need for a human Healer but it would help balance him. Maybe then he would understand why what he did was wrong.

Assuming that he didn’t already. Without knowing why he did it, Kei couldn’t be certain. He would have to ask that as soon as possible.

There were routes in Heartland City – in any city where Cats dwelled – known only to those of the feline persuasion, be those Fire Cats, Healer Cats, or cats who were neither. Kei strolled down one of those, pausing at one of his favorite restaurants. He would have far preferred eating with his future Firestarter, but until he could convince Ryou that he was neither a hallucination nor a common cat, this would have to do.

This particular route catered to unpartnered Cats of both types. Kei ordered himself a delicately prepared meal of fish and happily tore into it while considering his options.

I’ll have to keep at it with him. He’s stubborn. Which wasn't a bad thing at all. Kei rather liked that, in fact.

His tail swished as he considered what else to do. Ryou would need a proper Healer, a human. Were there any that could serve the purpose? Someone far better than whoever it was that was trying to court him through cruelty now.

I need a duelist for this. He won’t be happy if his Healer can’t duel. Kei knew that already. Dueling sang in Ryou’s veins along with his blood and his flames.

Unfortunately, there weren’t any duelists randomly lurking along the way between here and where they were going. Fortunately, Kei knew exactly where to find duelists. Far too late now to go looking, but come the next day…

The sooner he could locate one, the better. If he wasted too much time, it wasn’t impossible that the Dark Healer who he scented around Ryou could make his move and they could begin to bond. That would be monstrous; not a true bond in the slightest.

But Kei refused to let that happen.

Once he finished his dinner, he loped off into the night, planning for what the following day would bring.

Mizael liked being out late at night. He had a taste for rare flowers that grew best by night – there were few enough Healers who specialized in those, so he had them all to himself more than he didn’t. So he wandered through one of Heartland’s loveliest gardens, one that he’d helped grow, one that featured a great deal of evening primroses, jasmine, and wisteria.

Sometimes he saw other Healers out in the gardens. That was hardly unusual; there were plenty of Healers who enjoyed the night-blooming blossoms, even if they weren’t good at growing them. Every Healer had their specialty, after all.

He was also used to seeing Healers who brought their prospective Firestarters on courting dates to the Night Gardens. Sometimes he wondered if he would ever do that; presuming that he ever found a Firestarter or even a Fire Cat that he might want to bond to. So far, none of the ones he knew who weren’t bonded ever quite seemed right.

What he wasn’t used to seeing in the Night Gardens was a Healer that he didn’t know whose presence sent a warning tingle up his spine. The stranger wasn’t doing anything untoward; he wasn’t even looking at Mizael right now, though he surely knew Mizael was there.

This wasn’t just a strange Healer, though – this was a strange unbonded Healer. He strolled along the walkways of the garden, whispering to the blossoms in the same style that any Healer would. He paused at one twining wisteria vine and regarded it thoughtfully, tracing it with one finger, and a soft chuckle that Mizael didn’t understand.

Mizael approached carefully. This wasn’t just a Healer who was new in town. The closer he got, the more he could feel that this was also a duelist, even if he couldn’t see a deck or a duel disk on them. But a duelist’s spirit could not be hidden.

“What are you doing here?” He finally asked. “Are you new to Heartland?” He’d heard nothing from the Guild about any new Healers and they were reasonably good about letting him know who might visit his gardens.

The new Healer turned towards him. His coloring was unusual, even for Heartland. His hair was mostly a deep shade of purple that matched his eyes, though there was pink in the back as well. He wore a uniform that Mizael didn’t recognize, as purple as his hair. His left arm cocked, as if intent on battle at a breath’s notice.

“Only visiting,” the newcomer said, lips turning upward into a smile. Mizael tried to ignore the shivers that the smile sparked. This was a face that seemed crafted to smile but when he actually did so, all Mizael could think was to make it stop. “Is this your garden?”

“It’s one of the city’s,” Mizael said, reaching up to brush his fingers over the wisteria. He’d always been rather fond of it. “But I take care of it, too.”

“How nice,” the stranger agreed with a slight tilt forward of his head, too slight to really be called a nod. “It’s larger than my garden, but I have to share space at – my school.” Again that way his lips moved that invoked a smile without actually being one.

Mizael nodded; he’d been through that experience when he was at school. All the student Healers had to share a communal garden. Which wasn’t a bad idea; it helped teach co-operation. But he far preferred having his own garden to himself.

“Are you going to be visiting long?” Mizael knew he’d never been good at small talk. There were far better ways to spend one’s time, he believed.

“Unfortunately, not. I came to visit the Firestarter that I’m courting.” Again his lips curved upward. “He’s in town for a time on – business.”

Mizael nodded. Before he could ask the other for a duel, the newcomer tilted his head a bit more. “I’m terribly sorry. I’ve neglected my manners. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Yuuri.”

Mizael nodded in return. “Mizael.” He had a family name, but he preferred not to use it. It had never meant that much to him and going only by his given name felt more fitting regardless. Then he smiled. “You wouldn’t happen to be a duelist, would you?”
