My favorite K-Drama Couples 2023- Spring 2024

NOTE: I tried to include 2022 but my list got too long :)

Moving (Bong-Seok & Hee-Soo, Joo-Won & Hye-Won & Doo-Shik & Mi-Hyun): It's very obvious by this list how much I love this drama and how many blorbo-from-my-shows it created for me. And I know I'm only reviewing couples, but I was blown away by this drama. I don't even LIKE superhero shows, but I made an exception for this one and I'm so glad I did. If you like character development and plays on good vs. evil, I highly rec this! Bong-Seok and Hee-Soo are one of my favorite couples EVER and I loved the softness and epic romance of Joo-Won & Hye-Won. (And we all know that scene at the rainy window with Bong-Seok and Hee-Soo). These couples are really EVERYTHING.

Tale of the Nine Tailed: 1938 (Lee-rang & Yeo-Hee): This is the only time I've ever watched a season two and liked it better than season one. It's probably because it featured my favorite tragic half fox Lee Rang and gave him a love line with a mermaid. The two are SO sweet together---SOB!

Tell me That You Love Me (Mo-Eun & Jin-Woo): Wow. Maybe one of the softest couples I've ever seen in existence. Just watching them together was like a warm blanket in front of a cozy fireplace. I didn't like the ending choice which is a shame, but the drama was super well done and I still think people should watch it. There is also a very cute high school couple too!

The Eighth Sense (Jae-Won & Ji Hyun): not to be dramatic (just kidding!) this is the best bl kdrama I've ever seen. Literally this is it! I don't even want to tell you about the couple because I want you to just watch it! I'm dying for the writer to make another one because we need more queer media like this one!

Crash Course In Romance (Haeng-Seon & Chi-Yeol): Give me a noona romance featuring a man who has not felt warmth in 1000 years (ok not literally but this dude needs to have a warm meal made by an amazing lady!) This drama fell apart at the end (this seems to be a theme this year) but the couple makes it worth watching.

King The Land (Gu-Won & Sa-Rang): If you're looking for a low stakes, totally fluffy, rom com with TONS of chemistry (featuring MY BIAS!), King the Land is for you. Amazing skinship, kisses and just like a really fun duo to watch. Plot? Not so much but there are a billion good moments-- just look at the tags: They are full of cuteness.

Love After Divorce Season 4 (Benita & Jerome): Listen, I know I'm cheating by putting a reality tv show on this list but if you're in the mood for one, I highly recommend this season (it's on Netflix). Benita and Jerome will steal your heart and they are still together! I'm rooting for them. <3

See you in my 19th Life (Ji-Eum & Seo-Ha, Da-Hoon & Cho-Won): My bias Shin Hye Sun kills it in this drama featuring past life romance. Honestly it's not fair because this drama is totally my vibe so I'm obviously going to love the mains. But when a drama gives you more than one love line and they are both interesting and lovely?? Chef's Kiss!

Dr. Slump (Jeong-Woo & Ha-Neul): This drama TOTALLY fell apart at the end and left us all very disappointed, but that's not because our leads weren't a perfect couple! They bonded over mental illness and even took their meds together. Communication: check. Comfort/Healing: check. Chemistry: check!

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract (Yun-Woo & Tae-Ha). You probably don't know this but I've been following Bae In Hyuk's career since we was in silly little web dramas. Seeing him as a lead is really wild! To be fair, he's not nearly the actor that Lee Se Young is, but do we care about that when there's a time slip romance drama featuring a historical lady who's been thrown into the future and has to fake marry someone who looks just like her de*d husband for reasons??

İzleme listemde en yüksek puana sahip diziye başlamaya karar verince karşıma çıkan dizi Flower of Evil oldu. Dizi hakkında hiçbir şey bilmeden, oyuncuları daha önce hiçbir yerde izlemeden başladım. İlk bölüm biraz çekingen geçti. Aslında 1.bölümde su altı bir sahnesi ile başladıkları için, olayların oraya nasıl geldiğine dair merak aşılayıp bahsi yüksekten açtılar. Öncesinde izlediğim diziler daha soft bir yapıya sahip olduğu için bu diziye adapte olmam 2 bölüm sürdü.

Dizi ile ilgili tanıtım okuduysanız, dedektif olan bir kadının çözmeye çalıştığı davalardan birinde kocasından şüphelenmesini konu aldığını zaten biliyorsunuzdur. Şartlanmış bir şekilde izlemeye başlamamanızı tavsiye ederim. Kısaca bahsedeyim; Baek Hee-Sung (Lee Joon-Gi), mükemmel bir aile babasıdır. Mutlu bir evliliği, dünyalar tatlısı bir kızı vardır. Evde yemekleri kendisi yapan, kızını okula bırakan ve etrafındaki herkese saygılı bir adamdır. Tek sorunu ailesi olarak görünmektedir. Bize gösterdikleri kadarı ile zengin bir ailenin oğlu olarak annesi ve babası ile aralarında bir husumet olduğudur. Aile ne gelinlerini ne de torunlarını sevmemektedir. Bunu da bize gergin bir akşam yemeği ile net bir şekilde anlatırlar. Cha Ji-Won (Moon Chae-Won) ise kocasını çok seven cinayet masası dedektifidir. Karşılaştığı davalardan birinde 14 yıl önce birçok insanı öldürdükten sonra intihar etmiş olan seri katil Do Min-Seok (Choi Byung-Mo) davası gündeme gelir. Do Min-Seok intihar etmeseydi ortaya çıkmayacak olan suçu şüphe çekerken, oğlu Do Hyun-Soo da onun suç ortağı olması ihtimali konuşulmaktadır. İntihardan kısa bir süre sonra mahallenin muhtarı öldürülmüş ve bütün deliller Do Hyun-Soo’yu göstermektedir. Kayıplara karışan oğlu 14 yıldır aranmaktadır. Bir şekilde günümüzdeki dava ile benzerliklerinden dolayı şüpheler muhtar cinayetinden aranan Do Hyun-Soo’ya bağlanır. Davanın detaylarına girmeye başladıkça da Cha Ji-Won merceğini kocasına çevirir. Baek Hee-Sung’un mükemmel eş/baba imajı yavaş yavaş çatlamaya başlar.

Dizi ile ilgili tek eleştirimi baştan söyleyeyim, senarist her şeyi kendi içinde yaşamış. Bütün olaylar, konuşmalar ve gerçekler izleyiciden o kadar saklanıyor ki… Bir süre sonra sinir bozucu olmaya başlıyor. Sürekli ekranda şöyle bir sahne izliyoruz; “Haa o olay mı? Yaa o konu mu? Demek ondan olmuş. Hadi canım onu mu demek istemiş..” Büyük bir kısımda “Ne olmuş!!!NE! , HANGİ OLAY??, BİZE DE SÖYLE” diye çırpınırken buldum kendimi. Ben dizi karakteri değilim ki benden niye saklıyorsun. Anlat işte, güzel güzel izleyelim. Sayın senarist çok başarılı gizem yaratmışsın da biraz dozunu kaçırmışsın sanki.

3.bölümden sonra dizi akmaya başlıyor. İlk iki bölüm belki de benden kaynaklı biraz ağır aksak geçti. 3.bölümde tam anlamı ile hikayenin içine girdim. Lee Joon-Gi!! O nasıl bir oyunculuk arkadaş. Hiç tanımıyordum, fotoğraflarını görünce adama burun kıvırıyordum. İzleyince bir utandım bir utandım sormayın. Jeosonghamnida Joon-Gi. Şaka bir yana, Park Seo-joon’dan sonra oyunculuk anlamında en beğendiğim isim oldu. Mimikleri olsun, duygu geçişleri olsun, rolünün hakkını vermesi olsun inanılmaz başarılıydı. Dizinin başarılı olmasını bir kenara koyarsak, sadece oyuncu için bile izlenebilir.

Dediğim gibi izleyiciden çok şey saklanıyor olmasının verdiği gizem ve merak hikayeyi fazla dinç tutuyor. Biraz bunaltıcı olsa da heyecan yaratmayı da başarmış. Yaratılan gizemler 1-2 bölüm içerisinde cevaplanıyor. Ben çok beğendim. Oyuncuları, oyunculukları, yönetmen, çekimler, kurgu her biri kendi alanında başarılıydı. Dizi genel yapısı olarak görsel bir şölen sunmuyor. Buna rağmen mekanlar, ışık kullanımları, çekim açıları kesinlikle profesyoneldi.

Dizinin her bölümü bir başka “aa böylemiymiş” şeklinde aydınlanma yaşanması muhtemel hikayeye sahip olduğundan ve spoiler vermek bütün tadını kaçıracağından genel hatlar üzerinden yorumlarımı yazıyorum. Bir diğer beni şaşırtan ve çok başarılı bulduğum nokta, Lee Joon-Gi’nin karakterinin gençliğini oynayan oyuncu Park Hyun-Joon oldu. Bu kadar benzer oyuncu seçimiyle ilk defa karşılaşıyorum, çok etkilendim.

Toparlayacak olursak, bir gizem dizisinin büyüsünü kaçırmamak için kendimi çok frenledim. Diziyi sadece Lee Joon-Gi için izleyebilirsiniz. Onun yanında başarılı bir hikaye ve kaliteli bir yapım da bonus olarak geliyor. Bu diziden sonra Lee Joon-Gi’nin Moon Lovers dizisini önüme aldım. Yine sıralamayı ters yapmış olsam da böylesi bile güzel oldu.

Sapevo già che questo drama mi sarebbe piaciuto. Me l'hanno venduto come un Game Of Thrones versione Korea moderna ed ovviamente mi ha comprata immediatamente.

Se c'è una cosa che amo sono le storie d' intrighi, tradimenti, intelligenza e sete di potere. Famiglie e parenti pronte a scannarsi e tirarsele dietro ad ogni due per tre come cani attorno all'osso. Sapete...le classiche adorabili famiglie disfunzionali.

Graceful Family questo è: una serie dove un gruppo di persone "s'accoltella" vicendevolmente per ottenere quello che vuole. #adoro

La storia parte con Mo Seok Hee, figlia della famiglia Mo - proprietaria della MC Group - che esiliata dalla sua amorevole famiglia negli USA, torna di nascosto e in tutta fretta in Korea a seguito della notizia ricevuta sottobanco delle condizioni critiche del Nonno, il Presidente del MC Group.

Il suo rientro viene però cercato di ostacolare dal TOP, un team di gestione delle crisi che aiuta a coprire i reati commessi dalla ricchissima famiglia Mo.

Seok Hee riesce a tornare ma causando un incidente viene portata alla polizia dove conoscerà l'avvocato di umili origini Heo Yoon Do. Il loro incontro non sarà casuale per la storia perché c'è un motivo nascosto se Seok Hee è tornata in patria: scoprire la verità sulla morte della madre, uccisa 15 anni prima e le cui indagini della polizia non hanno convinto la protagonista. Heo Yoon Do potrà aiutare Seok Hee a scoprire la verità?

Come si evince dal mio orribile riassunto, la storia è un genere Thriller/Mistero e la serie fa un lavoro per me encomiabile nel gestire la narrazione e gli eventi. Innumerevoli i colpi di scena, i WTF, le imprecazioni. Ho trovato davvero difficile riuscire a staccarmi da questa visione, tanto che ho praticamente maratonato la serie in 3/4 giorni. (cosa che non faccio mai)

Ma non è solo la narrazione accattivante. Credo che un enorme punto a favore della serie siano i personaggi: dalla lead alla Direttrice del TOP, fino a tutti i componenti della famiglia Mo. Le loro psicologie e caratterizzazioni sono assolutamente intriganti ed umane così come le loro interazioni sbalestrate e totalmente fuori di testa. Mi sono decisamente piaciuti molto.

Ho particolarmente apprezzato Seok Hee. Un trattore. Una donna con due balls enormi che ha seminato panico, snobismo e stronzaggine lungo tutti i 16 episodi. Una che non si è fatta mettere i piedi in testa da nessuno - manco dalla famiglia - una guerriera, un bulldog con la rabbia pronta a sbranare chiunque si fosse messo sulla sua strada. Adorabile.

Altra menzione di merito ai due fratelli di Seok Hee, Mo Wan Soo e Mo Seo Jin. Il primo perché è stato l'unico ad avermi fatto sinceramente ridere. Un artista con la A maiuscola, eclettico ed irresponsabile, sensibile ed emotivo. Mentre l'altro è stato un pò il cucciolino della casa. Tenero e dolce come poche cose.

Altra nota positiva la do alle OST. C'è stata poca varietà ma quelle che si sono sentite sono state perfette. Per la scena, per i personaggi, per l'intensità del momento. Dalle musiche classiche al pop, esse si sono integrate perfettamente nella serie.

Ma quindi è tutto oro? Ehm...no.

Nonostante abbia adorato questa serie, ci sono alcune cose che non ho apprezzato così tanto. Prima di tutto il lead. Heo Yoon Do per carità non è male...ma sfuma di fronte agli personaggi. Quando hai personalità così eclettiche e sopra le righe, un personaggio calmo, umile e "normale" viene completamente nascosto dalle personalità più dominanti.

Altra cosa cose che mi sono piaciute meno riguardano TOP e la Direttrice Han. Io comprendo che essendo un drama la sospensione dell'incredulità deve essermi sempre amica...ma certe volte ho dovuto fare un enorme salto della fede per buttare giù alcune cose che ho trovato assurde. Divertenti, ma assurde.

E la Direttrice Han: non spoilererò qui ma ho trovato la sua resa troppo...troppo.

Ultima cosa. Ho letto in giro che molti mollano la serie alla terza puntata perché troppo incasinato. Segreti, intrighi, relazioni...è incasinato è vero. I primi episodi possono essere caotici perché ti sparano in faccia decine di informazioni e la serie è fatta a mò di puzzle, quindi è prevedibile una certa confusione. Ma vi assicuro che tenendo il cervello acceso e seguendo la serie, tutto si chiarisce. Tenete duro!

" Dovrebbero farci un film sulla nostra famiglia" diceva sorridendo e mezzo sconvolto il buon Wan Soo. Mai parole furono più azzeccate per una famiglia come quella Mo. Raramente ho trovato una dinastia così disfunzionale, cattiva, complicata e stronza come questa.

Io credo che qualsiasi psicologo familiare che avesse avuto a che fare con loro si sarebbe suicidato piuttosto che iniziare una terapia:

Il Nonno si rivela essere il padre della protagonista, mentre tutti - anche suo figlio e la lead stessa- crede che la ragazza sia sua figlia. Mentre ne è in realtà la sorella.

La prima moglie del padre della lead - e madre della protagonista - viene allontanata dalla famiglia e costretta a vivere con la figlia da sola per poi venire ammazzata male. La lead dopo la morte della madre viene mandata da sola per 15 anni negli USA senza che la famiglia si faccia mai viva. Abbandonata praticamente.

La seconda moglie che ha causato l'allontanamento della madre della lead, comanda in casa mentre riempie di amore e lodi il suo secondogenito e umilia il figlio primogenito. Primogenito che per far felice sua madre, uccide la madre della lead.

Nel mentre, quello che è a questo punto il fratello della lead - ma che lei pensa essere suo padre ( madonna che casino ) - tradisce la moglie con un attrice, ci va a letto, ci fa un figlio e lo porta a vivere a casa insieme agli altri.

In questo amorevole clima familiare fatto di tradimenti, egoismi e prepotenze, c'è da considerare anche la psicologia dei familiari:

La matrigna che spadroneggia in casa - e che ho odiato con l'intensità di mille soli - è un'infermiera che si è portata a letto il padre della lead. Gli ha fatto da amante per anni e quando i suoi figli sono stati abbastanza grandi, si è piazzata a casa dell'uomo pretendendo il divorzio dalla prima moglie ed il ruolo di padrona di casa. Perché grazie a lei la dinastia poteva continuare.

Ma per quanto si copra di oro, argento e mirra e faccia la finta acculturata, sempre una bifolca rimane. Questa sua inferiorità verso la più colta madre della lead, la porta a concentrare tutte le sue energie non solo nell'essere arrogante, crudele e presuntuosa, ma anche nel crescere il secondogenito Mo Wan Joon come l'uomo perfetto, caricandolo di aspettative ed obblighi. E - cosa più grave - a non amare, umiliare, allontanare il primogenito, definendolo un fallito. Un figlio che non avrebbe voluto avere.

Non è quindi una sorpresa quando i suoi figli mostrano allo spettatore tutti i loro disturbi e le loro personalità rotte. Se l'artista di casa si carica di atteggiamenti distruttivi e borderline ed il secondogenito tratta in modo inumano la moglie.

Per me non è stato scioccante scoprire che il perfetto secondogenito fosse in realtà un trans. Per me lo shock è stato vedere con quanto odio, freddezza e stronzaggine ha trattato la moglie. Sei anni di matrimonio e durante il divorzio non l'ha nemmeno guardata in faccia.

C'è anche da dire che ho enormemente apprezzato come una volta venuta fuori la questione trans, Wan Joon non si sia lasciato abbattere. Durante la serie si è vista la sua sofferenza nel non poter dire nulla ai genitori, del dover vivere la vita da erede dell'azienda senza che lo volesse, del matrimonio imposto dai genitori. Ma alla fine Wan Joon è rimasto un pilastro irremovibile. Anzi, credo che la verità sulla sua sessualità sia stata per lui una liberazione.

Il primogenito Wan Soo invece è un altro discorso. Non smetterò mai di pensare che se nel finale sua madre gli avesse detto che lo amava e che lo aveva sempre amato, non si sarebbe ammazzato. La sua è una storia triste, di un bambino prima e uomo poi alla disperata ricerca di affetto materno, che gli viene sempre rifiutato. E la sua morte per me non è data dall'omicidio della madre della lead, ma dalla consapevolezza che mai e poi mai, sua madre lo avrebbe amato. Ammetto di essermi un pò commossa con la sua storia, perché forse Wan Soo è un personaggio tragico, fallito.

Come detto sopra oltre alla storia, ad intrigarmi sono stati i personaggi: umani, credibili, stronzi. Le loro dinamiche, i fallimenti ed i loro desideri muovono la trama rendendoli super interessanti e coinvolgenti.

Veniamo ora alla Direttrice Han e al TOP. Tralasciando che un agenzia così non può legalmente esistere. Rapimenti, violazioni di domicilio, violazione della privacy, bloccaggio del passaporto, estradizione... Il Top non è un agenzia. E' un governo. Per questo mi sono "lamentata" della credibilità. Va bene tutto ma il TOP aveva un potere troppo grande per non essere mai beccata e non andare in galera prima.

Idem la Direttrice Han. Se il TOP è il Governo con più poteri del Presidente della Korea, la Direttrice Han è Dio. @veronica-nardi Lei sa tutto. Di tutti. Prima di tutti. Anche degli interessati. In sedici episodi non sono mai riusciti a sorprenderla e metterla nel sacco nemmeno una volta.

Dove gli altri personaggi fallivano o i loro piani prendevano pieghe inaspettate, la Direttrice Han non ha mai avuto di questi problemi. Perfino nel finale dove si presume il cattivo ottiene quello che si merita, la donna è stata così overpower che è andata in prigione alle sue condizioni, per un terzo dei suoi veri crimini. Manco la soddisfazione di vederla cadere.

This is a good watch despite it takes a while to fully get into it. It took me about six episodes for it to fully get my undivided attention and once it did I was glued. It gets super fast pace and the acting throughout is perfectly on point. It really is a great crime thriller.

Un exercice de police grandeur nature vise à améliorer les techniques pour lutter contre les braquages de banques. Toutefois, le policier chargé de jouer le rôle du gangster est tellement efficace dans son rôle que l’ensemble des forces de police est plongé dans la tourmente…

    “Bareuge Salja” (바르게 살자), ou “Going by the Book” est un thriller policier sud-coréen datant de 2007, réalisé par Ra Hee-chan, à qui l’on doit également “Mr. Idol” (2011). Les acteurs principaux sont Jung Jae-young, qu’on a pu voir dans “Welcome to Dongmakgol” (2005), Son Byong-ho, qu’on a pu voir dans “Open City” (2008), Lee Young-eun, qu’on a pu voir dans “Doomsday Book” (2012), et Ko Chang-seok, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Con Artists” (2014). Ce métrage est un remake du film japonais “Asobi no jikan wa owaranai” (1991). “Going by the Book” est paru le 18 octobre 2007 en Corée.

L’histoire proposée par “Going by the Book” nous invite à suivre Jung Do-man (Jung Jae-young) un ancien inspecteur qui a été rétrogradé comme simple policier de la circulation. Il a en effet la mauvaise réputation de faire les choses “by the book”. Expression que l’on peut traduire par “à la lettre” ou “selon les règles”. Expression servant à désigner une personne respectueuse des règles, tatillonne, voire procédurière. Une approche de son métier qui vaut bien des ennuis à Jung Do-man, comme lorsqu’il arrête Lee Seung-man (Son Byong-ho), son nouveau patron, le chef de la police nouvellement promu et lui adresse une contravention pour une infraction bénigne au Code de la route. Bien qu’étonné et agacé par l’amande inattendue, le chef de la police a de plus gros problèmes ; la ville de Sampo est frappée par une série de braquages de banques. Pour rassurer la population et redorer le blason de la police, Lee Seung-man décide d’organiser un exercice grandeur nature qu’il souhaite le plus réaliste possible. Jung Do-man est alors choisi pour jouer le rôle du braqueur de banque. Toutefois, toujours avec le souci de la perfection, son implication est telle qu’il met en échec toutes les tentatives de la police visant à l’arrêter, et le braquage de banque se transforme en prise d’otages….

Le scénario concocté par Jang Jin et Lee Gyu-bok est plutôt astucieux, en transformant ce qui s’apparente comme un exercice en jeu du chat et de la souris entre plusieurs équipes de la police et un des leurs, et en incarnant le braqueur avec un sens aigu du réalisme et de la précision. L’ensemble est bien entendu présenté sous forme de comédie ou la police en prend pour son grade, les cinéastes n’hésitant pas à les faire passer pour des idiots. Chemin faisant, Ra Hee-chan, le réalisateur, passe en revue de nombreux éléments qu’on a l’habitude de voir dans les classiques films de braquage, tout en présentant des questions sur les mesures de sécurité, sur les procédures policières, l’approche du négociateur et les mauvaises planifications, montrant à quel point de mauvaises interprétations peuvent plonger l’ensemble des protagonistes dans une situation hors de contrôle.

L’idée réellement originale de ce “Going by the Book” c’est de proposer un film sur un cambriolage qui n’est pas réellement un cambriolage. Cela permet de présenter les choses de manière humoristique et légère malgré des sujets sombres, comme par exemple la séquence sur le viol d’une otage. En outre, le réalisateur joue également avec le spectateur en ce qui concerne ce qui est réel et ce qui ne l’est pas. Cela fonctionne également bien pour créer un doute sur les intentions du personnage principal, et le script spécule avec l’idée qu’il pourrait à tout moment basculer et ainsi transformer le faux cambriolage en véritable vol. On retrouve beaucoup d’humour et la distribution est pleinement adaptée à la comédie. On peut cependant critiquer le sous-complot sur la corruption d’un haut fonctionnaire qui finit par prendre une dimension importante et qui n’est finalement traitée que superficiellement et est expédiée en deux temps trois mouvements dans la conclusion du film.

Les éléments de production sont d’un niveau légèrement au-dessus de la moyenne. La photographie orchestrée par Kim Jun-young est plutôt basique avec une bonne partie du récit qui se déroule dans la banque, ce qui conduit à une minimisation du décor. L’évacuation de la banque est un savoureux mélange de deux classiques du cinéma de braquage, soit “Dog Day Afternoon” (1975) de Sidney Lumet avec le grand Al Pacino dans le rôle principal et “Inside Man” de Spike Lee. La bande originale proposée par Han Jae-kwon vient bien souligner les moments importants du film, mettant en avant l’humour et la tension. Enfin, l’édition proposée par Kim Jae-bum et Kim Sang-bum offre un métrage de 102 minutes captivantes.

En conclusion, “Going by the Book” est une bonne comédie, disposant d’une histoire originale, d’une intrigue amusante et d’un développement rappelant certains classiques du genre. Le rythme est cohérent avec l’histoire, le récit est fluide et la narration est linéaire. On peut regretter la sous-intrigue qui est mal développée, pour ne pas dire bâclée. La photographie est basique, la bande originale est bien orchestrée et le montage est bien structuré. La distribution offre de bonnes prestations et on peut s’amuser du sérieux avec lequel Jung Jae-young aborde son personnage. L’ensemble est suffisamment original et captivant pour qu’on formule une recommandation.
