I'm working on an RPG! And you can play it, it's free!

I forgot that I hadn't mentioned this yet. For years I've dabbled with RPG Maker, but had never made anything bigger than "game jam size" until now.

So now I'm working on a side project called Tower of Modula. I like to call it an "Arena RPG", which is a concept I've been stewing on. In other words, a combat-centric RPG that is isolated to a singular location even smaller than a dungeon-crawler.

Basically, you climb a tower, fight enemies, and upgrade your party members. I'm planning to have around 20 floors, and currently there's 8. You play as a vampire, a wizard, and a jester.

played a bit of @blueberry-lemon rpg tower of modula

ended up with the team comp of ok warrior wizard and decent attacker vamp... until I got the crafter and uhh turn the team set up to this: spellslinging warrior wizard who just attacks and use bonus actions to magic missile then give themselves mp and maybe toss a few to the debuff crew who attacks can't land a hit. Really enjoying these three characters and the dialog with each other, and it's fun.

Been thinking alot lately as to why Lance's dad specifically choose Ilana's dad to be the one to look after his son if something were to ever happen to him. Like I've always wondered why him and why lance couldn't have been place in the care of Edward's family instead.

I think Edward was someone who was known to take risks no matter the dangers that were presented, when it came to his work. So when he was creating the rift gate, he knew there was a possibility he would not know what would happen him when it was time to test it. Because of this, he knew he couldn't tell his family because them knowing would only worry them. Or worst, they would try to prevent him from going through with his plan.

But because Ilana's father, in his own words, was someone who always in believed in Edward no matter what. He felt like he was the only person he could turn to at that point. Even then I still think Edward would've hesitated in making the choice to ask him at all. Because he likely knew how hard it was for Ilana's dad to raise his daughter without his wife around. So part of him felt that asking him to take care of his son would only make things more difficult.

Aside from that, we also know based on how Ilana's father described Edward during his funeral, he was the type to never complain. So it's possible that meant that he was someone that didn't really like asking for help. Because he believed he could handle things all on his own. But eventually Edward realized that he did need help and that this was his only option.

those thoughts sound pretty awesome. Sometimes I try to picture a scene where newton says that he has to tell her something and then maybe as he walks towards her, he shifts into his true form.

Also I love modula a lot, he’s an interesting villain and I love all his scenes. And there is a mystery, like is he under full mind control from his hat,are he and the hat creature partners with him actually having his own will power? Or is modula actually basically a revived corpse. As the king saying he saw modula die, suggests more then just a ship being shot down.

And Modula was also a loyal member to his people overall as far as we could tell? and he said that he was abandoned???? what happened that would kill him and have him feeling left behind to die by his friend?? even with the hat taking advantage it doesn't feel like the show is shading the events totally out of nowhere. that a hat could have him feeling ready to destroy it all and feeling derisive of "body heart mind. unite as one." and ready to squash any hope that ilana being alive brings?? [even if the hat is controlling him it doesn't feel like nothing when he says "LEFT. me behind."] it starts out so personal and then when we get him still being as competent as the general he used to be when he fights the soldiers in ep 2 and we get to SEE him being the good general too in flashbacks! so again! quite a turn around!

how much of the bitter feelings are his own and how much is brainwashed escalation/deception??

and even just the idea of the hat controlling him on a show about 3 people having a symbiotic titan. through symbiotic relationship..

so many questions, and he has such a great presence for someone who is just sending monsters for the duration of the show but he's so fascinating! and menacing still!

Cartoon Heroes Paper Cut-Outs

Sym-Bionic Titan

Created by Genndy Tartakovsky, Bryan Andrews and Paul Rudish for Cartoon Network, Sym-Bionic Titan tells the tale of three extraterrestrial refugees from the war-torn planet of Galaluna who have crash landed on Earth.  Remarkably, Earth is quite similar to Galaluna; the atmosphere is breathable and native Galalunans can easily pass as human.   

The escapees include Ilana  (voiced by Tara Strong) who is the kind, teenage princess of the Galalunan king; her young and stern-tempered bodyguard, Lance (voiced by Kevin Thoms) and an advanced bio-cybernetic android named Octus (voiced by Brian Posehn).  Among his many features, Octus can project holograms allowing him to pass as either Ilana and Lance’s father or their peer.  This allows the three to easily blend in to the small Illinois town where they have found themselves marooned.  

Whilst navigating the various trials of being teenagers trying to adjust to a new school and new surroundings, the trio must also fend off various weapons and creatures that have been sent after them by General Modula who wishes to kill the princess and thus complete his conquest of Galaluna.  

Fortunately Ilana and Lance are outfitted with individual armor that provides more than ample protection. When the gravest of dangers appears, Octus activates the sym-bionic defense program where he, Ilana, and Lance unite as ‘Heart (Ilana), Body (Lance) and Mind (Octus)’ coming together to form the formidable mecha-giant, Sym-Bionic Titan. In their unified form, the Titan is capable of defeating whatever monstrous menace General Modula sends their way.  

This series was just fantastic.  Unfortunately much of the plot lines were left unresolved as it was cancelled after just one season.  Genndy Tartakovsky has commented on an interest in returning to Sym-Bionic Titan so to end the story of season one and resolve its cliffhanger.  Ilana and Octus later made cameo appearances in the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes episode ‘Crossover Nexus.’ Sym-Bionic Titan premiered in September of 2010
