Mouna Ragam (1986) is a romantic drama that I really enjoyed. And this particular dialogue by the female protagonist, Divya, reminded me of Devi from Never Have I Ever (2020 - 2023):

Translation: "I have many flaws - anger, stubbornness, arrogance, ego. I am not responsible or caring - I have many flaws like these. I'm telling you this because you should know about me."

Just like Devi, Divya is a brave and flawed woman, who marches to the beat of her own drum. Her story is very different from Devi's. But, I just wanted to celebrate two complex, female protagonists who also happen to be Tamil (and who end up finding men who love them exactly as they are).

Mohan

The Muan, Moan or Mohan (moo-ahn), sometimes also known as Poira, is a name applied to several mythological or otherwise supernatural creatures in South and Central American folklore. The most common use of the term is to refer to the souls of the dead and the indigenous ancestors of old. The word is also used for shamans or witch doctors in some Colombian indigenous cultures (such as the Panches).

Various legends exist about the Mohan, with many of them emerging from Colombia. In Colombia, Mohan can also mean a forest or barren land spirit. In some legends, it is a satyr-like being who steals and eats young women and lives in a cave-like grotto in the bottom of the great jungle rivers where he keeps his female captives. In others, it is depicted as the spirit of an old Indian, brawny and stout, with a terrifying grin and stare, with larger than human stature and proportions, who steals fishermen's bait, catch or nets, and has the power to change shape into a cat-like beast. Other legends describe the Mohan as a "big-headed Indian, with short legs and fish fins on his back, and very brown." He is portrayed as an extremely hairy being with a very treacherous personality who dwells in the backwaters and is feared by many people. He also causes mischief for young girls who come to wash clothes in the water.

The Mohan is also known as an avatar whose form shamans are able to adopt. One myth tells of how a shaman became an alligator in order to be close to the girls who played in the river. The shaman was not able to fully transform back into a human and became an alligator with a human head. The Poira, whose name is interchangeable with the Mohan, is described by others as an Indian warlock who lives on the Cerro del Pacandé in Tolima, Colombia. The Poira is also believed to be a small, naked invisible boy or adult who can also appear formless or as a black bear.

Star Wars: Trails of Red Episode 8: Destroyer

It was a starry night on the planet Hordona. A Star Destroyer was at the exosphere of the planet. So far no sign of technology has detected the Star Destroyer. Inside the bridge of the destroyer was a tall light skin admiral with brown hair and light brown eyes. He was staring at the window as a special ops Stormtrooper approached him. "Admiral Sekfer, you are needed." the Stormtrooper said. Admiral Sekfer turned around and headed towards the debriefing room. In the debriefing room there was a tanned skin human female with black hair and brown eyes wearing an Imperial Captain uniform. "Yes, Captain Alida?" Sekfer responded. "Admiral, we found our prisoner, Miu Aelno." Alida reported. Miu Aelno was a prisoner who escaped recently while the Cholganna Imperial base was raided by the Trol. "She is here?" Sekfer asked. "Yes, our squads are now tracking her down." she answered. There was a female short-haired, green skin Mirialan with blue eyes hiding behind huge rocks. She was wearing an orange prisoner suit similar to what labor camp prisoners wear. A squad of Imperial Stormtrooper Assassins were tracking her down. They were wearing dark gray armor and their helmets have red visors on them. The Mirialan reached for her blaster and took two deep breaths to calm herself down. One of the assassins got closer towards a boulder that was near her. The prisoner fired her blaster and killed the assassin. The remaining assassins drew out their blasters and looked around for the prisoner. She looked behind herself and spotted three other assassins. The assassins spotted her. The prisoner fired at the assassins, but was only able to kill one. The remaining assassins fired their blasters only to kill the prisoner. As the prisoner dropped on the floor dead the assassins surrounded the body. Five minutes later one of the assassins went up the Star Destroyer to report to Admiral Sekfer. When the assassin got to the debriefing room both Alida and Sekfer turned around to greet the assassin. The Imperial Assassin removed the helmet only to show the face of a light skinned woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. "Miu Aelno has been terminated." she reported. "Well then, I'll inform the others. Thank you assassin." Sekfer replied. The assassin put her helmet back on her head and walked away from the two Imperial officers. The next day a Violeta-class transport shuttle entered Hordona and landed near a ravine. The four members of Trol grabbed their weapons, rations, and other supplies and went outside the shuttle. They were greeted by a male Chalactan with black hair. "Hey Mohan, we are here to see Lona Zolbee." Golizaa said. Mohan nodded his head at Golizaa and said "Follow me." The five heroes walked a forest trail and found a big camp site guarded by two Falleen guards. Mohan showed the guards his blue card. The two guards stepped aside and allowed the five heroes to enter the campsite. A female human with green eyes, blonde hair, and a yellow jacket was playing cards with two other humans. Mohan guided the four members of Trol to her campsite as they looked around the site. Mohan cleared his throat to grab the attention of the woman. "Lona, you have visitors." Mohan said. Lona got up from her seat and set the cards down. She walked towards Mohan and looked at Golizaa. She smiled at Golizaa. Golizaa smiled back. Lona looked at Mohan and said. "Thank you, you can go now." Mohan walked away so that he could give Lona and the Trol some alone time. "It has been too long." Lona said. "I agree, you look good. Camp here often?" Golizaa asked. "Yeah, how did you know?" "I have known you as a nature lover for some time now." Golizaa answered. Porkos set the weapons down to show Lona. Lona was impressed by the weapons display shown by the Trol. "Where did you find these?" she asked. "Cholganna, we had a team but we lost some of the members on the way." Golizaa answered. "These are beautiful. It could be enough to take down the whole Empire." Lona said. "We are here for something else." Aajnya said. Lona stopped looking at the weapons to shift her head towards Golizaa. "It is true, I need to talk to you." Golizaa confirmed. Lona looked at the two humans as they got up from their seats. "What's going on?" Lona asked. "I need to talk to you about someone. A friend of ours if you will." "Who? I have lots of friends that we share." "Saw Gerrera." Golizaa revealed. Lona backed away two steps after hearing that name. "W-What about him?" Lona asked. "I have heard talk that you teamed up with him. I have also heard that you all have plans to attack an Imperial Controlled planet." Golizaa explained. "Is that why the weapons are here? To support me?" Lona asked. "No, the weapons are in case you think you know what you are doing." Aajnya answered. "Okay, yes I do plan to fight alongside Saw. But I have a good reason." Lona confessed. "Tell us," Porkos demanded. "It is about my brother, Drack Zolbee. He was killed by an Imperial Elite. All because he stole food to feed a starving child." "A Stormtrooper killed your brother?" Aajnya asked. "Not a Stormtrooper, an assassin of some kind. They had red blades and black suits. From what I heard they were powerful." Lona described. Nobody knew what kind of assassins Lona was talking about. "What are you going to do once you meet Saw Gerrera?" Golizaa asked. "My plan is to find him on Corlus, give him the weapons you have us and have him use those weapons to fight against the Empire and destroy them." Lona answered. "There is one problem, that place is overrun by Imperial Stormtroopers stronger than ISB Agents. It will be a miracle if they don't catch us." Porkos said. "Which is why we are going to attack the soldiers here first." Lona responded. "What do you mean by here?" Aajnya asked. "It is best that I show you." Lona answered. The Trol and Lona's group headed away from the campsite and headed towards the rocky terrain where the prisoner Miu Aelno was executed. "Last night, one of my spies told me that a prisoner of the Empire was killed here by an Imperial Assassin Stormtrooper. That poor prisoner was killed in a heartbeat." Lona explained. "These assassins, how fast are they?" Golizaa asked. "Fast enough to have less assassins dead. The Empire is getting stronger and they're showing off their strength on systems such as the Bracca System. This is a fraction of what they are capable of." "So you're saying if we kill all assassins and Stormtroopers that were to land on this planet. You think we are strong enough to help Saw Gerrera fight the Empire on Corlus?" Aajnya asked. "That is the plan." Lona answered. "This is suicide, but if it'll work, the Empire wouldn't dare mess with us again. I sure hope they are not quick learners." Porkos said. "It is a big Empire, everyone has different learning speed." Lona said to Porkos. An Imperial Firestorm Trooper spotted the large group of rebels. Mohan fired his blaster and killed the Firestorm Trooper. "There is a big chance that the Empire now knows we are here." Aajnya said. "Not to worry, we always come prepared." Lona said. Three Special Ops Stormtroopers jumped out of the ground and fired their blasters at Lona's group. Golizaa dodged to the left and shot down two Special Ops Stormtroopers. One Special Ops Stormtrooper shot down and killed five members of Lona's group. Mohan shot down and killed the last Special Ops Stormtrooper. "Okay, that was not a normal Stormtrooper." Aajnya said. "Special Ops, no wonder why so many anti-Imperial organizations are dying faster than the last few years." Lona said. "What do we do?" Porkos asked. "We fight until the Empire gets tired of fighting us." Lona answered. Back inside the Star Destroyer, Captain Alida was greeted by a panicked Imperial Officer. "Captain Alida, we have matters of great urgency," he said. "What is it, officer?" she asked. "A new group of rebels has been formed. They are going to destroy us if we don't send in the assassins." "Well then, I'll send the assassins now." she said. The Imperial Officer sighed in relief and walked away from the captain. An Imperial Shuttle was deployed from the hangar bay and landed on the ground. When the shuttle released its back door the Imperial Assassin group showed up. "Assassins! Open fire!" yelled a Falleen soldier as he fired his blaster. The assassins fired back, thus killing two rebels. Porkos shot down and killed three assassins. Mohan shot down and killed two assassins. The lead assassin shot down and killed all three Falleen rebels. Lona Zolbee shot down and killed four assassins. Two assassins shot down and killed Mohan. "Mohan no!" Lona yelled as Golizaa shot down three assassins. Aajnya shot down and killed two assassins. The lead assassin was shot down and killed by Nufioo. The entire Star Destroyer got an alert that all Assassin Stormtroopers were wiped out by the rebels. "No no no NO!" Alida yelled as she slammed her fist on the table. "Captain Alida, what do we do?" asked a blonde haired officer. "Where is Admiral Sekfer?" Alida asked. "He is in the shuttle." answered another officer. "He's what?" she asked in shock. Admiral Sekfer stepped outside the shuttle with a blaster in his hand. He fired his blaster and shot Lona in the head. Lona Zolbee fell to the ground and died. "No!" Golizaa yelled. Nufioo fired his blaster at Sekfer but he dodged the attack. Sekfer fired his blaster again only to kill Nufioo. Aajnya and Porkos fired their blaster at Sekfer at the same time. Both blaster bolts ended up on Sekfer's chest. Admiral Sekfer fell on his left side and died. Alida's eyes were wide open once she saw on the Imperial Computer that Sekfer was killed. The only remaining rebels left were Porkos, Golizaa, and Aajnya. "Captain, what do we do?!" yelled an Imperial officer. Alida clenched her right fist and growled. "Open fire on the campsite!" she ordered. The Star Destroyer fired a green laser at Lona's camp and obliterated the camp. Everything was destroyed, including the weapons. "The campsite has been destroyed." the officer said. "Good, I had a feeling that the camp had some anti-Imperial mindset. How many life forms are left on that planet?" she asked. "Three, captain." the officer answered. "Bring in the entire garrison." she ordered. "Uhh captain, the shuttle is getting away." a black haired captain said. "What?" Alida asked in a stern tone. The shuttle was flying far away from the Star Destroyer. Inside the imperial shuttle was a corpse of a pilot away from the seat. Golizaa was piloting the ship as Porkos and Aajnya were on the passenger seat. Golizaa flew away from the rocky terrain and landed behind the Violeta-class shuttle. The three rebels got away from the imperial shuttle and went into their own shuttle to blast off from Hordona. As they got out of Hordona they jumped to hyperspace never to be seen on the Imperial controlled planet again. While they were in hyperspace Golizaa looked at Aajnya. "That visit did not go well." Golizaa said. "Yeah, no kidding." Aajnya agreed. "I can't believe Nufioo died." Porkos said. "Me too, may his soul rest in peace." Golizaa replied. "Before we left the shuttle, I gathered some data and well, it is something I have to show to tell you." Aajnya said. "Show us." Golizaa demanded. Aajnya walked towards the holoprojector that was located on the ceiling and turned it on. She grabbed the data pad she stole from the pilot and showed an image of a mega Star Destroyer with a large silver cannon inside of it. There was a beam of red energy glowing inside of the silver cannon. "What the glex is that?" Porkos asked. "This is the Empire's superweapon. Called the Red Destroyer, and that admiral we killed took a part in creating that." Aajnya said. "Is it in the process of being created?" Golizaa asked. "Golizaa, that destroyer is already created. It is about to launch if we don't do something about it." Aajnya said. "Well we can't go to Saw and ask him to fight against the destroyer since Lona is dead." Golizaa said. "And we can't get help from other military groups as well." Aajnya said. "I know someone who can help." Porkos said. "Who?" Aajnya asked. "Mokor Vorbash, he is an old friend of mine." Porkos revealed. "Take us to Mokor, and tell us everything you know." Golizaa said. Porkos nodded his head and made the shuttle jump out of hyperspace.
