Live-Read: "Dofus Manga" - part 3

+ A big Atcham Analysis

I'll only briefly point out that he has an ear ring, or that Ancestral Z draws him with hair tufts for cuteness' sake. We have to keep moving towards the point where I analyse him.

Atcham seems to be quite famous, — to the point Dodge is chastised for not knowing him, despite being an ecaflip, — and one of his nicknames is "the killer of killers". Very, very interesting...

"You're the one who made a huge mistake, Katar, by stealing the sword I had taken to repair... It belonged to my family for generations."

Obsessed with all the implications this has. You have no idea just how obsessed I am. To Atcham, swords aren't just weapons, — they're objects of sentimental value, a way to protect himself, a tool.

And it turns out that Katar threw his, and I quote Katar, "piece of shit sword" to the moon.

We've discussed Atcham and Kerubim's dead family, lack of support system, and young age when they lost everything plenty here. Same for their irrational hatred for one another.

No need to tell you how awful this must feel for him. Imagine someone throwing your dead father's picture into the river. For fun.

(He's either not that good at telling that someone is scared of him, which is sad, — or the smith that Katar killed was joking, when he said that he was afraid of Atcham.)

What follows is the most important scene I have for characterizing Atcham:

"The... the six Dofus. You have reunited the six Dofus! And what are you planning to do with them? Do you have an idea already?" "They intend to defeat Cornu Mollu."

If I speak on Cornu Mollu, this post will devolve into a 5-hour lecture on how much I hate the Twelve gods, — how Oropo "Did Nothing Wrong", — and how Sadida, Iop, and Ecaflip in particular need to be [VIOLENT LANGUAGE OMITTED] for the things they have done. Let's just say that he's a demon guy who rules Brakmar at the time of manga, ok?

"You guys are comedians. PHAHAHA! The guy is stronger than a god... And your Dofus can't change that! And his armies have only continued to expand — they're invincible."

Atcham laughs them out of town like clowns for thinking they can defeat Cornu Mollu. Which is more than understandable. But it is interesting, how he speaks of Brakmar here... Not very patriotic, he.

"I wish you courage in your collective suicide. As for me, I'm going to find myself a little island, hoping to escape all this!"

The thing about Atcham, is that mostly, he just cares about himself, and the things he likes.

He doesn't care about the city he's in, — outside the fact that his brother is on the opposing side. He doesn't care about the world, or saving it, — because the world certainly hasn't cared about him!

And he WILL flee, if it saves his skin from any unnecessary pain or danger.

What he cares about is his own damn self, because nobody else is going to.

For this reason, his personal moral compass is entirely dependent on saving his own skin, because he has only ever had himself to rely upon. He tries not to be too cruel, — yet, if the mood strikes him, he becomes hyperviolent just for the sake of fun.

But the thing about him is that he will leave, if things aren't going well. He won't stay.

This includes fleeing Brakmar at the first sight of trouble. And chances are, it also has, multiple times, included Joris and Kerubim after the movie.

While I will go more in detail on this later, sometime after Leorictus's nightmare reign and Joris's huppermage horror beyond our comprehension, Atcham has left Kerubim and Joris to return to Brakmar's side.

As far as I am aware, it is not because of some deep falling out, — they still seem to love one another. Kerubim has an instance of mentioning Atcham, in a pretty teasing manner, — and in the quest that involves catching him for his crimes, Kerubim comes to bail him out with a defense attorney speech at the ready to explain away why the atrocities are both a misunderstanding and completely justified, — but the thing is that Atcham left them, and began doing weird stuff, like crimes. In Kerubim's own Ecaflipus temple.

My personal thought is that Atcham keeps leaving because he's scared.

He cares a lot, — because they're the first people to ever care about him, and it drives him crazy how little they care for themselves. It hurts seeing them in pain.

Leorictus's reign probably was hard, emotionally speaking, — Joris wasn't even legally allowed to live in Bonta, or anywhere else, as a huppermage, — and yet, in Dofus MMO, judging from NPC dialogue about how Kerubim only moved back to Astrub somewhat recently,

— and Joris's presence in the game before the implementation of Huppermages as a class (I.E. their return from Rok Island), all signs point to the fact that this whole time, as Huppermages fled to Rok Island, — The Trio stayed in Bonta despite the danger, for some insane fucking reason. Probably heroism. Probably trying to save people. (people who have read my fic Fragile will uhh. Recognize this premise. Yeah. I think a lot about this all. To the point of writing a fic about this insane era of their lives.)

I think Atcham hates how responsible he feels for them, and the batshit insane things, — heroism? saving the world?! helping other people?!? self-sacrifice!?!? — they make him want to believe in, and how afraid he is of losing them. It is for him, to agree to do things he would never do before, for them, — and it's scary, just as scary as how dependent he is now, despite being ok with loneliness before them.

And sometimes, it's just too much, and too fast. So, he leaves, again, and again.

But on a positive note, I want to believe he is mostly over leaving them whenever he gets too stressed out, by Wakfu times. Maybe it's the maturity that comes with age, — or realizing how much they need him after Ogrest's Chaos, but I want to believe that he now expresses his frustration in other, more productive ways: herding these two idiots away from danger.

Ranging from: subtly insisting that Joris doesn't go on insane suicide missions all alone just to protect them (Just like Atcham, Joris's anxiety for his family makes him very irrational at times.), and trying to get Kerubim to always be ready for battles, while protecting him because he isn't,

To just plain having the willpower to tell the world's most stupidly self-sacrificial man "Did you consider that the floating eyes in the sky aren't any of our business? :)"

Which is pretty funny.

Anyway, yeah, Joris is not surviving the things Kerubim and Atcham will do to him, after he tells them that he went to something called "The Necroworld", almost got trapped there, and then almost died 20 times.

Today we’re lifting up my amazing Mollu!! ( @becomeawendybird​ | QuickedWeen on AO3). Well most people call her Molly. Mollu is someone I’ve known for a long time now, not just online, I’ve been lucky enough to hang out with her in person too!! Mollu is just *awesome* - smart, funny, gorgeous (can confirm), talented and creative in so many ways! I feel lucky to share fandoms with her  (we’ve also bonded over 911).

Mollu writes in the 1D fandom, she writes tons of AUs and lots of SMOKIN’ HOT girl direction! Today I want to draw your attention to You’re Invited (Girl Direction Larry, 8581 words, Mature). I read this when Mollu posted it, and it was so fun to revisit!

This one is a classic “I need a date for the holiday party can you pretend to be my girlfriend” - a classic for a REASON, it’s so fun, and it’s classic Mollu - funny, well-written, and sexy as fuck. 

One of the things I love about Mollu’s writing is she takes her time. I know pacing is one of the things I struggle with as writer, and I love the Mollu really builds the story here, it doesn’t feel like we’re rushing so that when we get to THE MOMENT, it’s SO SO satisfying!! 

Loved this one, it’s so good.

Octodad: Consequences Part 2

The continuation of the Consequences post from earlier that technically started with @lenoreofraven, so you should check them out. (Though, I don't know if I need to tell people that since she's cooler than me.)

"You!"

The girl looked up to see Mollusk looking down at her from a ledge of the building he was on.

"Right, sorry. I'm trying to get out of-"

Mollusk dropped right down in front of her, the look up at her face, as he is shorter. "That's not what I'm talking about and you know it."

She took a step back at his glare and tone. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure what-"

Before she could react, she was wrapped from her ankles to her shoulders, then Mollusk grabbed a bit of ribbon near her collar bone, and pulled down to his eye level.

She almost protested, until she saw the look in his eyes. His blue eyes screamed danger, like a storm sea. Nothing like the calm and patient eyes that he has for everyone, or even his battle eyes he has for akumas.

No, the look he's giving her right now is much, much worse than he's ever given an akuma.

"Yo-yo. Now."

"B-back pocket." She manages to get out.

Mollusk retrieves the yo-yo, then unwraps her, letting her fall to the ground.

"Good, now, leave. I better never see you try to go any where near Ladybug in the future, understood?"

"W-why? Why are you defending her?"

Mollusk scowled at her. "Why wouldn't I? Why do you hate her?"

"She's friends with Lila."

Mollusk raised an eyebrow, and cocked a hip. "Two questions. First one, why does that matter."

"Lila's a liar that bullied me at her last school."

"Okay, now how do you know she's telling the truth?"

The girl eyes widen, which prompted Mollusk to continue. "Really? You know she's a horrible person who lies, and yet when she claimed to be friends with a superhero, your first assumption was that the hero's awful. Not that she was, you know, LYING AGAIN!?!"

"But, there so many other things!"

"Like what?"

"She had the city give her a parade!"

Mollusk laughed, but there was no humour in it, which unnerved the girl.

"No, the city decided to that on their own for, you know, the hero that's responsible for the city not being in shambles!"

"But, the interview with Nadja to show off."

Mollusk held up a hand to stop her. "Do you have any idea how much harder it is to save people when they don't trust you? We did that interview so that the people could trust us more. Not to inflate our egos."

Mollusk then looked angry, well, angrier. "Did you just imply that Ladybug, the one that takes saving and protecting the city the most seriously out of all of us, does it to inflate her ego?"

The her backed away, afraid of Mollusk more and more as they talked.

"But then why did you guys leave that video of Lila up, huh?" The girl got up, to try and hide how scared she was. "What kind of hero let's people claim to know them?"

"Oh gee, you're right! I mean, it's not like we all have LIVES outside of the suits, and when we are in the suits we're not, I don't know, fighting villains that can level the city!" Mollusk gestured towards the akuma, when an explosion happened.

Mollusk then stepped towards the girl, and despite being shorter, he made her feel small, like a fly would be able to crush her.

"You might have had my sympathy before, but then you nearly KILLED one of my kids over it. Which puts you lower than Lila in my book."

"What? But I've-"

"There is no excuse for endangerment. Defending yourself? Good, do that. Making sure others are safe from the same toxic influences? Good on you. But throwing people into harms way for MAYBE associating with bad people?" Mollusk bared his teeth in a scowl. "That makes you no better than the bully. And in this case, it makes you worst."

Mollusk then walk a few steps back with a dry laugh. "You know what makes this worst for you? Lila hates Ladybug. In and out of the mask." The girl sucked in a breath. "Lila isn't even aware of it, Ladybug just managed to draw her wrath, both in and out of the mask."

Mollusk then turned to go join the kids in the fight. "You should know, having a bad past never, ever, excuses the intentional harm of other. That just makes you a sad bully." He then turned and side-eyed the girl. "Hope you're happy with letting yourself become the same filth that your bullies are made out of."

Mollusk then swung away, leaving the girl to drown in the weight of her decisions based on the word of a known liar, and the words of the hero showed her the person she became.

And done for now! Maybe I'll continue it later with a talk between Mollusk and Ladybug over what happened, but not for now.

وعلى صعيدٍ متصل، أعلنت وزارة الدفاع في قره باغ، اليوم الإثنين، تسجيل 44 قتيلاً آخرين بين جنودها، لترتفع حصيلة ضحاياها من العسكريين إلى 1221 قتيلاً منذ بدء القتال مع القوات الأذربيجانية في سبتمبر.

في حين جددت وزارة الدفاع الأرمينيّة، تأكيدها اليوم أيضاً أن “العمليات القتالية لا تزال مستمرة في محيط مدينة شوشة”؛ وذلك بعد إعلان علييف يوم أمس الأحد، السيطرة على المدينة الاستراتيجية.

Azerbaijani Community: Nagorno-Karabakh conflict stems from Armenia's annexation policy

Nagorno-Karabakh’s Azerbaijani community has said that Armenia’s occupation of seven surrounding regions, including Gubadli, outside of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region shows that the conflict stems from Armenia’s intention to annex Azerbaijani territories by force.

The community made the remarks on August 31 that marks the 27h anniversary of the occupation of Gubadli by Armenian armed forces.

The community reminded that 238 Gubadli residents were killed, 316 were become to be disabled persons and more than 100 people were missing as a result of the occupation, adding that the administrative centre and 93 villages of the region were completely destroyed and looted, over 40,000 Gubadli residents became internally displaced persons.

“As a result of the occupation of Gubadli, 445,000 square meters of housing stock, 4 medical centres, 6 kindergartens, 61 general education schools, 10 culture houses, 24 clubs, 1 local history museum, 60 libraries were destroyed, the occupiers destroyed 94 villages and settlements, 205 cultural facilities, burned and looted 12 historical monuments,” the statement reads.

The community pointed out that 9 in each of Ashagi Mollu and Hamzali villages, 5 in Aliguluushagi village, 1 ancient cave of the 4th century in the area called “Gavur valley”, “Goy gala” (Blue Fortress-red.) fortress built in the 5th century, “Galali” fortress in Muradkhanli, all historical monuments in Khojamsakhli village in Gubadli have remained under the occupation of the adversary.

The statement reads that the recent intensification of Armenia’s policy of illegal settlement in the occupied Azerbaijani lands, including Gubadli, shows that Armenia has not given up its intention to strengthen the consequences of the occupation and is not interested in a peaceful solution to the conflict.

“We declare that the settlement of the conflict is possible only after the withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from all occupied Azerbaijani territories and the return of Azerbaijanis to their native lands who have been subjected to ethnic cleansing. Like all internally displaced persons, the people of Gubadli will return to their native lands.”

Azerbaijan and Armenia are locked in a conflict over Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh breakaway region, which along with seven adjacent regions was occupied by Armenian forces in a war in the early 1990s. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and around one million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chaired by the United States, Russia and France has been mediating the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict since the signing of the volatile cease-fire agreement in 1994. The Minsk Group’s efforts have resulted in no progress and to this date, Armenia has failed to abide by the UN Security Council resolutions (822, 853, 874 and 884) that demand the withdrawal of Armenian military forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
