These two men were born in the same year. At the same place. As younger brothers of morally corrupt older brothers proud of their Celestial lineage. Both became deeply involved with a young "D" approximately around the same time. Both stole a legendary devil fruit in the exact same year, 13 years before the start of the story, when Luffy was 6 and Law was 13.

Recently, I had this thought: what if, after the White Bone Demon arc, Sanzang is the one who goes back to Flower Fruit Mountain to bring Wukong back?

So here he is, getting half-dragged along by the monkeys to Wukong's throne XD I had a strong image in my head of Wukong appearing as a shadowed figure, with only his golden eyes providing light as he sees Sanzang (probably to check if he's the real one or not loll). So I'm really happy with how he turned out in that last panel! :D

Also, if you're wondering how Sanzang even got to the mountain at all, here's how I imagine it went:

Guanyin: alrighty here is your one-trip roundabout ticket to Flower Fruit Mountain and back. One use only!

Sanzang: thank you bodhisattva! Amitabha~

(Much later, during Macaque chapter)

Sanzang: merciful Guanyin, may I please have another roundabout ticket

Guanyin: boy don't tell me you kicked the monkey out again, he's your most competent employee!

Fourty Eight chapters. There is now twice as many chapters in this as I thought there would be before I gave up on typing out my original outline. I just read the doc back and im glad i didnt stop it at just 24 cuz that would have sucked ass, im glad i spent 57 weeks of my life writing this silly little story.

i stopped typing up the outline because i kept adding more things in the middle of the chapter outlines and i just kept getting more and more behind.

when im done writing this story, I think i would like to live stream going through all the chapters and adding director's commentary to them. If i do I'll definitely read out my outline as well, and y'all will see why I'm not writing this story as a fan fiction.

It would be fun putting on character voices, too, i can dig it. lmk if thats something yall would be interested in. Of course we have a loooooong way to go until i finish this story still, so ah,,, yeah keep tuned
