It's been three weeks, and the tattoo is healed! Even the last of the leftover skin flakes have shed away. Survived going to sauna last weekend too!
And I love it to bits! I love the shading, and the textures, the outlineless monstera leaves, I love the shapes of the toes and how the shapes of the fingers weave together, I love all the floof, the tail and the arm fluff, I love the contrasts and the patterns, I love how the lowest leaf extends over the wrist to the back of the hand, and I love the whiskers so, so much!
Love looking at it and seeing it in mirror, it looks like it belongs on my arm, like it was always meant to be. It's not like it has any effect on my silhouette, but I don't know how else to describe it, it feels like it does. My character design has a new item, and it gives me so much joy!
This is the first of my tattoos where I left the designing entirely to the artist instead of doing any of it myself, and it was very much worth it! Highly recommend the artist, she was really nice and fun to chat with. Kudos for communication and customer support!
You can find the artist's instagram here!
This was always meant to be the starting point of a forearm sleeve, but ended up being half the sleeve in itself, haha!
Joy!
Also thank yous to studiokyy for hosting. Really cozy tattoo studio, and I very much appreciate how queer the whole place was.

Hiya! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
I find Euillcys' design quite cool and I'm curious about somethings if you don't mind answering.
Is there a practical reason for growing plants on their coat or is it purely an aesthetic choice?
In his ref sheet it says that he uses noice cancelling headphones for faraway echoes. Are those overwhelming for them?
Do they have a favorite plant? (I would assume he is partial to monsteras given his coat pattern)
i am Always happy to answer lore questions!
Tumblr media
euillcys' coat is just part of the common fashion in Lucus Solaris - the region euillcys resides within. integrating plants into everyday apparel is a staple there as seen here:
Tumblr media
regarding the headphones: as a bat it's a bit hard to live in a bustling major city. when your ears are designed to pick up every little noise, it can cause some major migraines. the headphones serve to dampen out faraway noise, making it easier for euillcys to focus on infodumping excitedly about his latest solar-powered gadget.
euillcys absolutely adores monstera plants, but is also an enjoyer of a good fiddle-leaf fig.

Colorwork Leaf Coasters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My first time trying 3 colors in colorwork and learning how to embroider (to varying degrees of success. I ended up sewing felt backings to them and they still get a lot of use. I'm hoping to make some more coasters because I do really like the size of these (and we often have friends over with multiple drinks 😅).

Title: Art journal #1
Image description: Two photos of a handmade brown paper journal decorated with colorful embroidery and colored pencil doodles.
The front cover is full of pink and purple shapes and patterns overlapping. Moving vertically through the center, there is a light green snake made out of repeating thread stitches. Colored pencils shade the background while thread forms bold images: a spiral bends around a spider web that sits next to a bundle of squares. A wobbly bridge arches between triangles and a blue oval, like separating a body of water from crowded houses.
The back cover shows a story of two elements: water (represented by the color blue) and earth (represented by the color green). Columns of deep blue thread are shaped like rain drops, alternating their direction of falling down or falling up. A monstera plant leaf jumps up into the space, happy and well-watered. A thick green vine drapes above the leaf and spreads diagonally in front of a stained glass window, cutting the view.
End image description.

Some random updates:
a while ago I removed one of my rhaphi.tetra.s from their pole and pot because it had some root issues and was basically dying (and the moss was molding when I kept it wet so I mostly stopped watering the pole). It's now rooting beautifully in the exact same moss in a prop box and weirdly enough there's no issues with mold?? Not sure what I'm going to do with it once it has enough roots, but it kinda would be a waste to not put it on a pole again.
Monstera albo's newest leaf turned out so beautiful and perfect 😭💕 Possibly a tad bit smaller than the previous one, but who cares. Please make more such leaves, I'm so much in love! Also no splits again, but I don't care as long as the leaves have beautiful patterns.
Had this new Philo. Silver Sword in a prop box for 3 weeks and it went crazy with the aerial roots. Like the Rhaphis above I thought it was a waste not to utilize them, so I put moss around them so they wouldn't die back in normal room humidity. Also not sure where this is supposed to be going but... XD
Just some random pics of the most recent Global Green growth because it's so beautiful and perfect ❤️❤️❤️ Maybe it really does better in a less sunny space. Also those leaves have sized up a bit, which is awesome.
N'Joy pothos so far seems to want to turn into a Glacier and it's kinda disappointing? 😂 I would've loved to have a proper N'Joy. Maybe I need to find a spot with different lighting for it. May have to experiment... I should take cuttings to do that more efficiently. Maybe put labeled Glacier cuttings together with N'Joy ones for maximum efficiency.

So my brother's ex-wife gave us a snake plant leaf a long while ago to propagate. We did so successfully and named the plant Gomez to match our monstera Morticia.
One of Gomez's leaves broke so we planted that one too and named him Pugsley.
Then we got another broken leaf and my sister named that one Kitty, after the lion.
They all crew so well that we decided to put them all in one wider (and a bit shallower) pot together. They used to be three distinct plants but they've grown so many new shoots since being moved that they can't really be differentiated anymore. The only recoginzesble part is the original Gomez, since the leaf he started from is still alive and has a different pattern from the others.
So I guess they're now all just Gomez again?
Also our other monstera, Wednesday, has done so well growing roots that they're sticking out of from the drainage holes. We're going to have to move her to a bigger pot soon, but that's fine because we have a spare one. It'll be harder to find a bigger pot for Morticia but we have some heavy duty storage buckets that we could pretty up with some contact paper that should work.

tell me about your plants!!
(SORRY ANON I WENT TO BED BEFORE I SAW THIS! BUT I LOVE YOU!!!)
I have 7 plants in my room at the moment that I really really love, although I have a couple others around the house that I couldn't fit in anywhere else rip (including a massive monstera that is honestly outgrowing our tiny house, no windows or corners are big enough for it!)
The tallest plant in my room is one of my snake plants (Dracaena trifasciata) Not a great picture of it but it's doing really well! Its weird, i've seen some places say snake plants (or Tigers Tail, also a cool name) grow slow which is just not true, they grow incredibly fast if kept well especially over the spring and summer! The new leaf on the righthand side of the pot only started sprouting a couple months ago! The newer leaves on the bottom left are actually a separate plant I decided to put into this pot since there's still lots of space and snake plants often are kinda clumped together and have offshoots around the main oldest bits of the plant. Tbh, I should have left it longer to repot, I got too excited :' ) Snake plants actually like being quite cramped and you can/should leave them a good long while before repotting but mine luckily didn't see to mind! I really love the patterns on snake plants leaves, they are much stronger and lighter when the leaves are new and then do fade with age but they're so lovely :' )
Tumblr media
I have a second snake plant that I rescued outside someones university accommodation when i was a student- They left it probably because they thought they killed it, but snake plants are very hard to kill and specifically come from environments where they get very little water, so tbh it was absolutely not a lost cause so it was sad they left it behind! That tall leaf at the back thats out of frame? One of the newer leaves that only started growing this year- shows how fast they grow! You can see which are the oldest leaves at the bottom, the damage on them is from its old home :' ) But it's been very happy! Did you know snake plants only release oxygen at night? They've adapted to do it because it stops them from getting dehydrated during the day! It's also good to dust the leaves or use a damp cloth to wipe them, helps them make the best use of the sunlight they get, I also give them a liquid plant food in the spring/summer, not that they super need it but just to give them a lil boost.
Tumblr media
One plant that im very very proud of at the moment is my Silver Satin Pothos :' ) (Epipremnum aureum), sometimes called Devil's Ivy which is kind of a cool name. Most people probably have seen a Golden Pothos, which I think is the most common variety around, but my favourite is the Silver Satin variety because of the cool-toned colours and the amazing leaf patterns! Pothos love climbing and in the wild climb up their host trees (and can kill them if left unchecked...), i've been trying to think for a while of where I can move mine to so it can climb but I still haven't totally decided! In the direct sunlight, the leaves glimmer a little which is very very pretty. The difference between the size of leaves on a houseplant Pothos and a wild one is also insane, their leaves get absolutely Huge in the wild! They can also flower but it is rare, they have a hormone deficiency in their genes which is why it is so rare, although you can artificially get them to flower by spraying them with a gibberellic acid mix thing, I don't know a ton about it though, I'm happy to leave mine alone haha.
Tumblr media
Here's one of my slowest growing plants though, a Green Trumpet Jade, or Finger Jade (Crassula ovata)! It's technically a Gollum Jade, but the interesting difference is caused by a mutation due to a bacteria, mycoplasma, which makes the normally flat leaves curl up into tubes! I can never get good pictures of my one but its a really decent size and I've had it for years, my oldest plant! Gollum Jades can live 100+ years and are sometimes passed down between generations!! In the very bottom of the picture you can see the babies, the leaves are fragile and pretty easy to knock off, so when that happens I just pop them into some soil and quite often they will begin to root!
Tumblr media
Okay so this is my newest plant and it has absolutely exploded, its been so fast growing! It has doubled in size from when I got it at the end of May. It's called Inchplant, or Wandering Spiderwort (Tradescantia Zebrina) it also has an unfortunate common name that is rightly being phased out/called out more recently. A lot of people have these as hanging plants, but there's not really anywhere to hang plants in my room since it's small so I've opted to tie it to supports to encourage it to grow upwards instead. I got this one for the colour because it's just amazing! Never seen such pink/purple leaves before : ) The pink comes from anthocyanins I believe, specifically Inchplants like mine are bred to have higher levels of anthocyanin, the only way this really affects houseplants like this is they need slightly more light because less green in a plant means less chlorophyll.
Tumblr media
Ahhh I feel like this answer is getting kind of long now so I might stop there hhdhfkj, my two other plants in here though are a Dragon Tree (Dracaena Marginata) which hopefully one day will move from window to floor as it gets bigger! And also my quite new Parlour Palm (Chamaedorea Elegans), it is a pretty popular houseplant but also slow growing, so it takes a long long time to get as big as some of the ones you see in fancy house decor photos, but I'm hoping mine will get to that point one day!
Thanks for indulging me anon, I love talking about my plants :" )

There are Indoor Plants that Grow in Water without much maintenance. You can grow them in clear vases and jars to use as a centerpiece.
Philodendron In all the philodendron species, heart-leaf philodendron is quite adaptable for growing in water. Keep a 6 inches long cutting in a clear glass jar or bowl in a location with bright indirect light. Don’t forget to change the water once in 3-4 days and it’ll keep growing.
Lucky Bamboo Famous for its forgiving nature, the lucky bamboo is one of the best indoor plants that grow in water. Narrow vases are perfect for this plant, depending on the size. Make sure the roots are submerged in the water and add some gravels around them for firm placement.
Pothos With its glossy heart-shaped foliage, pothos is one more option to go for. Grow it in water, in a clear fishbowl and keep that on a shelf, cascading pothos leaves will look wonderful. Keep changing the water every few days to maintain the right oxygen level.
Chinese Evergreen & Dumbcane With variegated and leathery leaves having a silvery pattern, the dumb cane and Chinese evergreen plant can be grown in water. You can easily propagate the cuttings in a transparent vase filled with small aquarium rocks. After a few months, once the roots appear and become bigger, transfer them in the soil.
Spider Plant Spider plants look quite interesting with their narrow arching foliage and baby spiderettes. You can either grow them permanently in a glass jar or change the cuttings into a new pot, once they root. Keep changing the water every 2-3 days. Check out these indoor spider plant care tips here.
Arrowhead Plant Like other climbers and vining plants, the arrowhead plant is pretty straightforward to grow indoors in water. Keep adding fresh water twice a week and it’ll keep on growing. If you like, transplant it into a potting soil once the cutting sets new roots.
Coleus Having colorful and serrated leaves, coleus will be the most colorful addition to glasses and jars. Since it likes indirect light, you can keep it as a tabletop centerpiece in a wine glass or decorative mason jar filled with water.
Tip: Adding compost tea in the water will enhance their growth.
Wandering Jew Wandering jews are tough plants that grow like a weed in warm climates. The astonishing purple-colored and variegated varieties make them desirable houseplants. The best part is you can grow them in water in terrariums.
Dracaena Many indoor dracaena varieties can adapt to growing in water. Glass jugs and narrow jars are good for them. Just remember to use chlorine and fluoride-free water. Also, never let the water in the jar to become mushy and unclear and keep changing it two to three times a week.
Begonia Like impatiens, growing begonias in water is also possible. You can keep them in a clear bowl for around two months before they start to fade. Don’t forget to change the water every week to save the begonia cuttings from rotting.
Ornamental Sweet Potato Ornamental sweet potato vine in a glass jar will add a tropical touch to your kitchen windowsill. Trim a few 6 to 8 inches long stems just below the leaf node, remove the lower leaves and submerge them half in water. Keep changing the water and it’ll grow.
English Ivy English ivy can your next indoor water garden plant. You can grow its cuttings in vases for a long time. Snip all the bottom leaves of an ivy stem and transfer it into a glass jar and enjoy it on a bright windowsill.
Monstera Monstera is a popular large indoor plant because of its huge cut foliage and stems. It creates a tropical atmosphere in any room. Adding this tall plant can make a huge impact on the interior of any home.
Herbs Not just the houseplants, there are herbs and vegetables that you can grow in water. Some of the best ones are mint, green onions, fennel, basil, and celery.
