the animation in this episode was absolutely GORGEOUS. literally no 2D animated show has ever done flame-ridden scenery in such a perfect, gorgeous way before I think.

Not sure if it was done on purpose or not but every time it played that boom sound whenever Hilda turned back to look at the flaming tree it. it made me laugh. it made me giggle. it was so stupid looking, gave me IZ:ETF energy and really let me calm down from the emotional ride of the last few minutes

seeing more giants is really neat. the sound design for when they jumped away was MAD..in general this season feels like it was made to be listened to on a surround sound speaker system tbh

generally just another REALLY GOOD REALLY COOL EPISODE.

my only criticism though this is to Literally All Kids Media Ever is that no-one knows how to write accurate bullying/exclusionary activity (in this episode regarding the ginger kid and his scout group). no kids act like that. please i was bullied so hard i should know

I mean... absolutely! [[[feminist rant incoming]]] There’s definitely this troubling idea that if a girl dates a shitty guy and he stay shitty, it’s somehow her fault for not changing him for the better. We’re constantly told that we’re supposed to provide for men, be their emotional support (ever notice how when dudes act possessive & out of hand they’re just ‘troubled’ and ‘care for their gf’, and when women are possessive & act out of hand they’re ‘crazy bitches’) and ‘change them for the better’... not only have we gotta be their s/o and always look presentable and sexy while they can barely be bothered to shave, apparently we also gotta be their crutch and their fucking mom. Sitcom wife who does everything for her ungrateful lazy bastard husband.

However... that’s the bad end of the spectrum, y’know? That’s where something sweet has been spun into something negative and damaging. Love really can make someone a better person- that is, if they’re willing to change for you!! If you’re both willing to change for each other. For me, at least, it becomes an issue when one side is sticking it out to ‘change’ the other when said other has absolutely no intention being better. But when they are? When they understand their behaviours are damaging and are willing to become better to make their wife happy? That, in my perspective, is one of the most winning parts of a person! Maybe I’m just a fucking sucker but I love!!! People becoming better bc they want the best for their partner!!

Plus as a raging monsterlover I find myself drawn to massive beasts so you kinda gotta be forgiving with some shortcomings
