I’ve watched the third episode of the first season of “Pose”. It’s a Christmas episode – about all the Christmas stuff – presents, special events, family dinners and so on. Electra gets a huge change in her life – she’s offered “reassignment surgery” – to use a simpler language – vaginoplasty, but she needs money, so she and some of the members of her house rob some Christmas charity and while promising her girls presents, she pays all the money for her surgery. We get to see some much less pleasant events at the hospital. Pray Tell (Billy Porter’s character) visits his boyfriend and the dance teacher visits one of her best students. (Spoilers!) The next morning the student dies. This affects Damon almost directly because when he’s late to the dance lesson, he receives a tongue-lashing and gets kicked out until Blanca talks to the teacher again and then prohibits Damon going to the balls until he succeeds in his dance class and even though he’s furious at first, he agrees with her after all. Angel is pretty good at the dance floor and gets a prize on the Christmas ball, but isn’t that happy with her love life – Stan bought her a flat and promised to spend time with her and even come for at least an hour for Christmas. He even buys her a present… But then he doesn’t come and gives both presents to his wife after his boss came to his house while he was out, told his wife that Stan has a lover and tried to seduce her (but wasn’t successful in it), so on the Christmas morning Stan and his wife (her name is Patty) fight, but then he reveals both presents and tells that his boss isn’t the most honest person in the world (obviously) they reconcile. Angel, however, waited for him for almost the whole evening, but then joined her house and they had a nice family dinner everybody got the presents they wanted. The ending was very touching.

how do you kill a feeling: a blair/dan playlist (x)
Tracklist and commentary under the cut:
This is also entirely country music, because, uh… I wanted to? And at least one person (hi Liz) seemed into the idea? Generally when it comes to GG, we skew more towards pop than anything else, so it was a fun experiment!
1. “Easy Silence,” The Chicks. And I come to find a refuge in the/Easy silence that you make for me/It’s okay when there’s nothing more to say to me
2. “Walkin’ After Midnight,” Patsy Cline. [dan voice] I’ve been walking around the city all night with one paralyzing, all-consuming thought
3. “Found It In You,” Tiera Kennedy. The confidence to know that I can be happy/Just ‘cause you tell me that you got me.
4. “Friends Don’t,” Maddie & Tae. [Insert obligatory aromantic disclaimer that Friends Do, Thanks, here.] That aside, this is just… so stupid best friends in pining denial dair-coded
5. “I Try to Think About Elvis,” Patty Loveless. When you’re ass backwards crushing on Blair Waldorf and you would like to not be, please
6. “Hey, Good Lookin’,” Hank Williams. This one was one that just clicked as a dair song at random somewhere—something about the I’m gonna throw my date book over the fence bit especially—and sparked this playlist into being
7. “Lay It On Me,” Mickey Guyton. I want the truth and all your lies/I want your perfectly imperfect
8. “I’ll Be,” Reba McEntire. And mayhaps Dan has a white knight complex. I’ll be the rock that will be strong for you/The one that will hold on to you
9. “Marigold,” Paisley Fields. Marigold, bold and bright/Marigold, through spring and summer/You brighten up my night, marigold
10. “After I Fall,” Lee Ann Womack. And mayhaps Blair is a bit traumatized. After I fall, where do I stand/After my heart is in your hands/And you’ve got it all
11. “cowboy take me away,” Brittney Spencer. This one is in the Vibe—because God knows neither of them want to get out of the city and get dirt on their hands—it’s more something wild and unruly
12. “I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still in Love with You),” Johnny Cash. Dan pining moments
13. “This Kiss,” Faith Hill. I always love story imagery with Blair, so of course we’ve got Cinderella said to Snow White/“How does love get so off course/Oh, all I wanted was a white knight/With a good heart/Soft touch, fast horse.”
14. “Wrecking Ball,” Emmylou Harris. This song’s got the narrator offering a first date if the other person is in, in spite of the lack of privacy she’s got/the things the other person might know, which is very Gossip Girl, but there’s also something about the Meet me at the wrecking ball (wrecking ball)/I’ll wear something pretty and white that feels very Blair
15. “Death Of Me,” Reyna Roberts. Took this barely beating heart and brought it back to life/But this love might be the death of me.
16. “Starting Over,” Chris Stapleton. Gotta give them something good. And, honey, for once in our life/Let’s take our chances and roll the dice
17. “Grow Old with Me,” Sunny Sweeney. They all said we’d never fit so well together/Grow old with me, I’ll keep you young forever
18. “Jolene,” Dolly Parton. I’ve used this as a Blair’s Serena complex song before, way back on the blairena playlist and uh… I was right ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
19. “Milwaukee,” Wyatt Flores. Okay, yeah, wrong city, but—You can hate my eyes for watching you leave/You can hate my should have chased you down feet/…/Please don’t hate my heart
20. “What Brings Life Also Kills,” Kolton Moore & the Clever Few. Dear, I’m writing this for you/As I contemplate tomorrow/Why did it end so soon?
21. “Buddy,” Willie Nelson. S6 dangina hours!!!!
22. “Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That,” Dolly Parton. Exists in the theoretical Dan slut era of my dreams. He’s out slow dancing with every girl around/I’m a soft-hearted woman, he’s a hardheaded man/And he’s gonna make me feel just as bad as he can
23. “Foolin’ Ourselves,” Evan Honer. Welcome to the dairfair! We get a little chronologically blurry here for the sake of the Sound being right, but I trust y’all to follow along
24. “On the Other Hand,” Randy Travis. On one hand, I could stay and be your lovin’ man/But the reason I must go is on the other hand.
25. “Summertime,” Orville Peck. You and I/Bide our time/And I miss summertime
26. “Satin Sheets,” Tammy Wynette. If Serena gets “Jolene” (or even, sort of, the pseudo-honorable “On the Other Hand”), Chip gets this. Blair canonically sings Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” about him (which really fucks me up), so I knew she had to be on here somewhere, but I wasn’t expecting something quite so suitable to jump right out. But your money can’t hold me tight/Like he does on a long, long night
27. “Your Someone,” May Erlewine. I thought that I was stronger/I willed myself to be/But love can be so tender/I feel a tenderness in me
28. “To June This Morning,” Ruston Kelly, Kacey Musgraves.
29. “Love is Alive,” The Judds. Love is a man and he’s mine/Love is alive/And at our breakfast table
30. “Love Is A Wild Thing,” Kacey Musgraves. There’s no way to stop it, so don’t try to

as promised the separate comics/graphic novels roundup for 2023! this is a normal post until May when I realized I could (as a graphic novel librarian) become an Eisner voter and read 54 comics in a month (and then slightly less so in August when the Harveys came up.) below a cut because it's heinously long. I'll include my little write-ups and some panels right after my faves
JANUARY
Under the Red Hood by Judd Winick and Doug Mahnke I read this January second. Begin as you mean to go on! For all its flaws (Dick's Squidward face) the emotional arc of this story puts me right into the pit about Jason Todd.
Superman: Reign of the Supermen by Dan Jurgens and others
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest (ongoing) by Mark Waid, Dan Mora, and Travis Moore First off Dan Mora draws everyone like the most beautiful people in the world, which never hurts to look at. But also this is just a really fun comic! The action is fun the characters are very sweet and we get an honest to god Superbat gem fusion
Young Justice (1998) by Peter David and Todd Nauck MY CHILDREN! I was finishing up my Tim readthrough and was so delighted to meet Kon and Cassie and Bart and Cissie and Anita (I still don't care for Lobo.) Nauck's art is cartoony in a way that fits the comic really well.
Red Robin by Christopher Yost, Fabian Nicieza, Ramón Bachs, and Marcus To THEEEEE ARC for Tim. Everyone says read Red Robin. Yes read Red Robin but also understand this is him at his worst and most scrungly. This is not normal Tim. This is Tim's failgirl era.
Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day by Judd Winick and Ale Garza
MARCH
You and a Bike and a Road by Eleanor Davis Beautiful little memoir comic about biking across the US, and also about borders and travel and isolation/togetherness.
Tumblr media
Superman for All Seasons by Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale, and Bjarne Hansen I love this comic. Tim Sale draws Clark like the biggest, softest person you've ever seen, and Bjarne Hansen's colors are so gentle. (if you remember the rock metaphor from mission parameters, it's inspired by this scene from Book 1: Spring)
Tumblr media
APRIL
Superman: Lost by Christopher Priest and Carlos Parlaguyan (ongoing) This series cuts right to the horror of being Superman and also the horror of being Lois Lane SO deftly. a few plot points I don't love but overall God it makes me miserable
Tumblr media
Birds of Maine by Michael Deforge A delightful, dreamy collection of comics about birds living in a utopian society on the moon. The art is weird, the story is weird, everything about it is lovely.
Tumblr media
MAY
Divinity v1-2 by Matt Kindt and Trevor Hairsine
The City of Belgium by Brecht Evans This is not a perfect graphic novel but the stuff it does with art and page and rhythm is so so phenomenal.
Tumblr media
Lights, Planets, People! by Lizzy Stewart and Molly Naylor
Killadelphia v1-3 by Rodney Barnes, Jason Shawn Alexander, and Christopher Mitten
The Department of Truth v1-4 by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds This is a book about conspiracy theories and it is DEEPLY unsettling. Martin Simmonds' art makes me legitimately queasy to look at. Really really good but also it did send me into a little spiral for a bit.
Tumblr media
Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely (Mat Lopes' colors also deserve a shoutout) This book made me cry! Also I have yet to read another Kara comic because this one was so good and I'm afraid the others won't be. She's sharp and angry in all the best ways and also deeply deeply caring and good. Capes meets space fantasy at its best. I would die for Ruthye
Tumblr media
Nightwing (2016) v1-2 by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo
Batman: One Bad Day: The Riddler by Tom King and Mitch Gerads
She-Hulk (2022) v1-2 by Rainbow Rowell, Luca Maresca, Rogê Antônio, and Takeshi Miyazawa
Superman: Space Age by Mike Russell and Michael Allred
Revenge of the Librarians by Tom Gauld
Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball by Jon Chad
Down to the Bone: A Leukemia Story by Catherine Pioli
So Much for Love: How I Survived a Toxic Relationship by Sophie Lambda
Welcome to St. Hell: My Trans Teen Misadventure by Lewis Hancox
Chef’s Kiss by Jarrett Melendez and Danica Brine
Wash Day Diaries by Jamila Rowser and Robyn Smith
Animal Castle v1 by Xavier Dorison and Felix Delep
Bungleton Green and the Mystic Commandos by Jay Jackson
Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer Masterclass in writing a biopic that doesn't shy away from its subject's being kind of a wretched person while also producing art that is deeply meaningful to many, many people.
Rain by Joe Hill and Zoe Thorogood
Tiki: A Very Ruff Year by David Azencot and Fred Leclerc
Ten Days in a Madhouse by Nellie Bly, adapted by Brad Ricca and Courtney Sieh
Ultrasound by Conor Stechschulte
Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes, The Graphic Album (various)
A Visit to Moscow by Rabbi Rafael Grossman, adapted by Anna Olswanger and Yevgenia Nayberg
Look Back by Tatsuki Fujimoto
Shuna’s Journey by Hayao Miyazaki
Come Over Come Over by Lynda Barry
It’s So Magic by Lynda Barry
My Perfect Life by Lynda Barry What a lovely collection of comics. Barry captures being a teen in all its mess and glory.
Macanudo: Welcome to Elsewhere by Liniers
Always Never by Jordi Lafebre
The Pass by Espé
Mary Jane and Black Cat Beyond
Moon Knight: Black, White and Blood by Jed Mackay and Carlos Villa
The Nice House on the Lake v1-2 by James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno (Jordie Bellaire colors) I know Tynion can do horror, but he really really can do horror. This is like Glass Onion meets the worst nightmare you've ever had, and the way it unfolds is masterful. Martínez Bueno's art is dreamy and unsettling, especially combined with Bellaire who colors like she's painting oil slicks.
Tumblr media
A Vicious Circle by Mattson Tomlin and Lee Bermejo
Booster Gold (1986) by Dan Jurgens Booster my friend Booster. I really didn't expect this to be as FUN as it is! There are occasional storylines that drag but overall a delight.
The Human Target v1-2 by Tom King and Greg Smallwood
Heartstopper v2-4 by Alice Oseman
Killer Queens by David Booher and Claudia Balboni
I Hate This Place v1 by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin I really need to read v2 because this was so fun. Queer backwoods horror, sarcastic, delightful, and never heavy-handed. I read this right after Killer Queens, which read like someone fed a bunch of Drag Race episodes and 2012 tumblr posts into a comics generator, and Heartstopper, which was so blandly unobjectionable I actually forgot I'd read it, so I Hate This Place felt refreshing as hell. (actually while looking up screencaps I remember why I didn't read v2 which is that v1 has a LOT of gore and body horror and I gotta be careful with that stuff. however if you like a slasher go forth)
Tumblr media
It’s Lonely at the Center of the Earth by Zoe Thorogood Gut punch on every page. Thorogood's art is weird and wild. It does feel a bit as though she's opened up her ribs for us to peruse.
Tumblr media
Chivalry by Neil Gaiman and Colleen Doran
Sensory: Life on the Spectrum (various)
Cryptid Club by Sarah Andersen
Public Domain v1 by Chip Zdarsky
Love Everlasting v1 by Tom King and Elsa Charretier
Mazebook by Jeff Lemire A twisting fable about grief and the paths it takes you down. A lot of the Eisner noms had dead wives or daughters which I began to resent, but I gave this a pass because it was really, really beautiful.
Tumblr media
Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton Everyone has told you it's good! oh it's good. Beaton's style, which I associate more with her humor work, at first feels somewhat at war with the subject matter, but it ended up really working for me.
Days of Sand by Aimee DeJongh
Talk to My Back by Yamada Murasaki This was one of my favorite books of the whole year. Beautiful meditation on the compromises of marriage and motherhood in beautiful, sparse drawings that lingered with me long after I'd finished reading.
Tumblr media
Crushing by Sophie Burrows
JUNE
Do a Powerbomb by Daniel Warren Johnson Do you like wrestling? I don't really care about it, but I do love weird wacky stories about grief and trying to fight your way through the afterlife to get your mom back. Both hilarious and poignant. The art is as bombastic as it needs to be.
Tumblr media
The Night Eaters v1 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda Liu and Takeda are back! This time with some horror about a pair of siblings and their fucked up parents. Great stuff.
Tumblr media
Ripple Effects by Jordan Hart and Bruno Chiroleu
Superman: Up in the Sky by Tom King and Andy Kubert Oh the Clark Kent of it all. the panel where Clark is calling home from alien customs because he has flown to the ends of the universe for one little girl is really what got me in this one
Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross
Superman: American Alien by Max Landis and various artists
Superman Red and Blue (anthology) This is a whole lot of writers and a whole lot of artists and all of them are excellent. Once again the Clark Kent emotion is happening to me.
JULY
Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid and Leinil Francis Yu
Superman (2011) v5-6 by Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder
Superman: Warworld by Philip Kennedy Johnson and various artists
Justice League International by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis, and Kevin Maguire Booster my friend Booster is here and also so are all of my other new friends. I loved the initial run (though it has its weak spots) but then I had to slog through a lot of very bad later stuff.
AUGUST
Blue and Gold by Dan Jurgens and Ryan Sook
New Teen Titans (various Brother Blood issues) by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez
Acting Class by Nick Drnaso
Follow Me Down: A Reckless Book by Ed Brubaker
Girl Juice by Benji Nate
Little Monsters v1 by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen
Mimosa by Archie Bongiovanni
Who Will Make the Pancakes by Megan Kelso
Cat + Gamer by Wataru Nadatani
Goodbye, Eri by Tatsuki Fujimoto
Spy x Family v1-2 by Tatsuya Endo
Alice on the Run: One Child’s Journey Through the Rwandan Civil War by Gaspard Talmasse
Ashes by Álvaro Ortiz
The Extraordinary Part: Book One: Orsay’s Hands by Florent Ruppert and Jérôme Mulot The art and story here are simply so fabulous. A better world is possible and sometimes you have to take direct action to make it!
Tumblr media
SEPTEMBER
Batman RIP by Grant Morrison and Tony S. Daniel
Batman Incorporated by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham
Batman and Robin (2011) by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason I've talked about this one before but I think it is truly one of my favorite depictions of Bruce as father in all the ways he succeeds and all the ways he fails. John Kalisz's luminous colors also deserve a shoutout.
OCTOBER
Batman: Failsafe and Gotham War by literally everyone currently working in DC but especially Zdarsky
Birds of Prey (1999) by Chuck Dixon and then Gail Simone and a number of other people (this continued into November and December) This made the worms in my brain wriggle so bad that I wrote a whole yuri zine piece about Dinah and Babs, coming to a PDF (or physical copy!) near you soon!
DECEMBER
Dungeon Meshi v1-11 by Ryoko Kui Is it romantic to devour and be devoured in turn? Ryoko Kui sure thinks so. I was hungry the whole time I was making these my bedtime reading.
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll Emily Carroll is among the best to ever do it. This collection of stories is her at her unsettling best.
When I Arrived at the Castle by Emily Carroll
Batgirl (2000) v1-3 by Kelley Puckett and Damion Scott thanks to Mssrs Puckett and Scott I am now fully unhinged about Cass Cain and her quest for immolation. the art in this is so stylized but so well-done, especially given how little text is in much of the series. when the paneling hits it HITS.
Tumblr media
Bruce Wayne Murderer/Fugitive by everyone working at DC in 2002 When a good crossover storyline works, it really really works. I love to see Bruce completely blow up his life because he doesn't see any point in existing outside the cowl anymore. Even more do I love to see the fallout from this on everyone who loves him! delight delight delight.
and that's everything I read this year!! god there was a lot of it. I liked a lot of the stuff I didn't bold, but also I hated some of it. please feel free to talk to me about any of it!!!

@jilymicrofics | January Prompt List, No. 18: Stitch
500 Words, Read it on AO3.
Runner's Stitch
Lily Evans loved running. Her trainers were tatty and worn, with rust coloured stains the perfect imprint of her feet in the soles. Running allowed her a sense of freedom, so she would run until she couldn’t bare it. The balls of her feet were throbbing now and she still felt the stitch prickling at her side. Mere metres to go and she’d make it. Rounding the corner she collided with another body, a soft thud and squash of wounded breath between them.  “Sorry,” she gasped, rocking back onto her heels. “Nah, my bad. You alright?” James Potter raised a quizzical eyebrow at her. No doubt she looked a right state with sweat plastered hair and flushed ruby cheeks.  “Fine, thanks. What are you doing out at this hour?” It still felt strange talking so casually with him as her friend, her co-head.  “Jenkins and Moore called in sick for prefect duty. Food poisoning apparently,” He replied disbelievingly. “Shagging in a broom closet somewhere more like. Do they forget we all eat the same food?” Lily scoffed back, Potter grinned.  “Why didn’t you just assign someone else? You heard Dumbledore we’re meant to stick in twos after...” She trailed off not wanting to voice the attack on Mary MacDonald aloud.  “Bit late notice. Remus is recovering from the full moon and I know everyone’s stressing about Slughorn’s essay,” He shrugged. Nonchalant at the risk he was putting himself under.  “Might as well finish off with you then,” Lily muttered, turning on her heel to walk beside him and trying not to release a wince as she did so.  “You limping, Evans?” He stopped in his tracks.  “A little,” she admitted honestly. While the glasses said otherwise, Potter wasn’t blind.  He looked down at her shoes. “You need a new pair of them.” “They were a gift from my dad,” she answered, knowing that it would convey her attachment for trainers way past their prime. Potter shifted his gaze from her and extended it down the corridor.  “I haven’t seen anyone out of bed. For anyone down there snogging this is their lucky night. Come on, I'll walk you by the prefect's bathroom on my way back to the dorm.” “I don’t need your protection, Potter.” She didn’t mean the defensive bite her voice portrayed.  “I know that, Evans. You’re the one who said we shouldn’t be roaming the corridors alone, remember? In my locker there’s a blue potion on the top shelf. Use that. It helps my quidditch aches.” He strolled off before she could utter a single word.  She found the bottle. Removing the stopper, she brought it to her nose. A familiar soft scent of sage and sea salt met her. It couldn’t hurt right?  Sliding into the soothing suds had her wishing she’d asked Potter to stay, wait, or come back for her. He deserved a proper thank you. The pain was already fading and something she couldn’t quite make out was tugging at her heart strings.

WHG Prompt 3-Visitors
WHG Tag List: @concealeddarkness13 @ratracechronicler @maple-writes @clocksandchaos @knmartinshouldbewriting @forthesanityofsome (let me know if you want to be added!)
Serah Reide
The room was too small. It was an odd thought to have when the room was arguably about the size of their combined kitchen and living room. But it was true. Maybe it was due to the guard outside the door, making sure they didn’t run, or maybe it was because of what it signified. But the room was too small.
This was the choice they had made, the bed they had created for themself. Now they would have to live with it. Live through it. Somehow, without killing anyone. If it came down to saving their life or someone else’s, though…
They’d always been a healer first.
They didn’t sit on the nice looking couch, but paced the length of it, an animal in a cage.
There was still no way of saving everyone, and they weren’t foolish enough to think they could succeed as a single person in stopping the Games forever.
But there had to be a way to save as many as possible.
The door creaked open, and in came Edel, running full speed at them. His words were garbled through his tears as he clung to their dress like it was the only thing keeping him upright. Behind him, his mother and younger sister walked in as well, also crying.
“Thank you!” His mother wailed as she threw her arms around them as well. “I don’t know what entity sent you, but thank you!”
Their smile was weak as they gingerly hugged them both back. This was…unexpected to say the least, and they didn’t really know how to handle the older woman crying on them. “It was nothing. Really.”
“Nothing! You save my son’s life, and say it was the easiest thing! Oh blessed girl!”
They both cried on for a bit longer, hugging and thanking her in turn. The little girl clinging to her mom’s dress occasionally joining in as well, though whether or not she fully understood what was happening was unclear. None would listen to their assertion that they really didn’t deserve, nor want, the praise.
That was probably enough thanks and praise to last them a lifetime.
But yet the door opened, and in streamed all the familiar faces from that morning. Chattering and sobbing and clinging to them and wishing them luck and begging them to come back, one after the other.
Through it all they smiled and nodded, agreeing they would do their best, and wishing them luck.
Finally, after what seemed like the longest hours of their life, the group seemed to get ahold of themselves, thanking her one last time, before leaving.
They’d only just smoothed out their dress and returned to pacing when a commotion started in the hall.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” The door slammed open with a ball of Cast as Evan marched in, hand still glowing, hair half out of his ponytail.
“Moore you need to calm down,” Lillian said, glancing over at the now shaken looking Peacekeeper outside the door.
“Calm down? Are you fucking kidding me? After what they just pulled?”
“If you want to be allowed to stay, then yes.” She said as she pulled the door shut. And then immediately rounded on them as well. “But please, do tell us what you were thinking? Were you?”
To their credit, they didn’t flinch in the face of both their anger. “I was thinking I had to save someone. I was thinking I couldn’t stand by as another child was sacrificed. It was his first year.”
“So you had to sacrifice yourself?”
“Always the martyr aren’t you, Reide.” Cast flared around him, hot enough it warmed her own skin. With a shaking breath he turned from them both.
They’d seen him angry before. That was quiet and calculated though. This wasn’t anger.
Lillian looked between them, before sighing. She hugged them a little too tight and nodded. “Just. I hope you know what you’re doing.” And then she left. The door clicked shut in a way that echoed around the room.
He was trembling.
“Evan-”
“I’m not saying goodbye.”
Their heart sank. “What?”
“I’m not saying goodbye.” He straightened and turned towards her. His hair was wild and there were tear tracks down his face, but his expression was hard and determined. “I’m not saying goodbye to you, Serah, because you are coming back. I don’t care how, but you are coming back. I don’t care what you have to do.”
“You know I can’t promise that.”
“You will promise that. Please,” his voice broke on the word. He raised one warm, shaking hand to their face. “I don’t care how, Serah. I don’t, what rules you have to break, whatever you have to do, you do it. Promise me.” It was little more than a rough whisper, and he was searching their face for the agreement. “Promise me.”
“Alright, alright Evan, I promise. I’ll come back,” then, without much thought, they pulled him into a hug, and he hugged back without hesitation for once. “I’ll come back. To you. I promise.” They breathed the word into his neck, not even sure if he could hear it.
“Time’s almost up!”
They both held tighter, for just a moment longer, before pulling back and resting their foreheads together, neither wanting to let go just yet.
“I-”
The words died on their tongue though. As much as they needed to say it, just in case, that would be just as damning, because it would mean they didn’t fully believe in their promise. And they did. They would come back to him. Not the same, there was no way they could be the same after what would happen next. But they would keep their promise and come back.
So they swallowed and smiled, and looked at him. Memorized his silver eyes and every freckle on his pale face. The little mark above his eye. The exact shade of dark red hair falling out of place.
And they let go. “I’ll come back to you.”
It was only after he left, that they cried. Falling into a heap on the couch, body shaking uncontrollably, the taste of salt in their mouth as they curled in on themself, hugging themself as if it was the only thing keeping them whole. As if that thing hadn’t just walked out the door. As if it wasn’t the last time they’d see him.
The door knob began to turn.
In an instant, they were on their feet, a flash of gold cleaning themself of tears and wrinkled fabric.
“It’s time to go.”
They couldn’t be weak in front of any part of the Capitol if this was to work. And it had to work. They had to come back.
No. They would come back.

I’ve watched the second episode of the first season of “Pose”. So, balls continue and so do the competitions continue too and our young house (Spoilers!) wins two times in a row and are very proud of it. Then one guy called Ricky invites Damon on a date and they walk on the pier, kiss and dance together, however, when Ricky starts touching Damon’s ass and Damon says he’s not ready Ricky backs up and agrees to go on another date. Unfortunately (or not), Damon’s dancing teacher offers him to go to a ballet at the same time and Damon decides that dancing is more important than love life. Damon crying in the ballet is just such a mood I also cry at the theatre a lot. Anyway, Ricky waits for him in vain and when Damon tries to talk to him later and apologize Ricky says that everything is over. However, next time Damon invites him to go to the theatre together Ricky agrees. Discrimination of transgender gay women of colour in a gay bar. That’s what happens to Blanca and she tries to fight against it and even skips a ball for that. Police, seriously?! White young gays call police on a trans woman?! Because Blanca didn’t show up on the ball and Electra (The leader of the house Blanca left in the first episode.) gets her out of prison. Angel continues her weird relationship with Stan, who finds her in some sex club… I’ve read about such a place in “Middlesex” by Jeffrey Eugenides. Where sex workers (mostly those considered “odd” as here – a transgender woman, or in the book where it also was a transgender woman and an intersexual person) are in glass boxes and entertain clients, who can watch, but not touch. Stan is pretty possessive over her and says that she loves her because she’s the only real person in his life. She offers her to buy her a place of her own. Funny thing is that he actually does! He asks for a bonus at work and his understanding boss (sarcasm) gives it to him on two conditions – telling the truth about his lover and working weekends when required. So, he buys a dishwasher for his wife and a flat for Angel. The ending with classical music and the montage was just perfect! (The dance itself, however, was the wrong one, because it was «In the Hall of the Mountain King» by Grieg and I’m not sure if ballet on this music even exists… Okay, I’ve checked, it does, but it looks nothing like we saw on stage at the end.)

Much needed win as North End overcome Terriers
A very much needed win for Ryan Lowe and for North End as the Lilywhites ran out 3-1 winners at the John Smiths Stadium against Huddersfield Town. Goal form Alan Browne, Will Keane and Ben Whiteman saw North End home against a very mediocre home side. It was a much improved performance from the boys even though we did fall into the trap of sitting back for the first twenty minutes of the second half. An early strike from Browne set the tone and when Keane made it two North End looked in complete control of the game. After the break we sat back a little inviting the hosts on and sure enough they pulled a goal back but it was not enough as a Ben Whiteman strike was enough to give North End all three points and send the travelling 1,176 hope much happier than of late.
North End made two changes from the side that drew at Norwich on Saturday with Will Keane and Duane Holmes coming in for Andrew Hughes and Ali McCann. North End set off like they really meant business and had two penalty shouts in the opening minutes of the game but with three minutes on the clock Holmes put a beautiful left foot cross in an the Skipper header home into the far corner. Browne and Whiteman had good chances as Millar caused mayhem down the Preston left. With just under ten minutes to the break Millar set off on a run down the left and played a superb ball right into the path of Keane and the striker made no mistake slotting the ball through the legs of Chris Maxwell. It was no more than North End deserved and they went in at the break having played the best half of football for some considerable time.
No changes for North End at the break but a triple substitution from Darren Moore as he tried to get his side back in the game. North End reverted into their containing mode at the start of the second half but were soon undone as Ward headed home to put the home side back into the game. Huddersfield pressed North End but midway through the second half North End put the game to bed. A ball from the left was laid off by Holmes for Whiteman and the North End number four shot past Maxwell from the edge of the box and from that point on the game never looked in danger. North End really should have gone on to win the game by a few more goals but we couldn`t convert anything late in the game and registered a very comfortable victory and a much needed boost for all involved at the club.
So North End gain the much needed win after just one point from the previous twelve on offer. It has to be said that the hosts didn`t offer a lot on the night but North End attacked like we know they can in the first half and it was so refreshing to see. It buys some time for the manager after the pressure was building and I think we would have all taken four points from the two away games at Norwich and Huddersfield. Job done this week then but I so wish we would play to our strengths every week which means attacking football and a positive attitude. I guess some positivity has returned after this weeks results but the manager needs a decent win, or at least performance, at home to Watford on Saturday to build on the good work done on the road. A much better performance but still plenty of room for improvement.

Buccaneers "Sack" Bears at home winning 27-17
By Joseph Correa

Back at Raymond James Stadium after a successful Week 1 on the road, the Buccaneers battled their way to a 27-17 win against the Bears, securing their third consecutive 2-0 start. It wasn't the prettiest day for the Tampa Bay offense. Still, they got the job done thanks to Mike Evans' standout performance, a defense that racked up six sacks, and a game-deciding pick-six by Shaq Barrett.
The Bucs' offense had a better start than last week's game against Minnesota. They began with a solid 12-play, 67-yard drive, ending with a 26-yard field goal by Chase McLaughlin. This gave them an early 3-0 lead.
However, the Bears quickly answered back. Justin Fields connected with D.J. Moore for big gains, capping it with a 1-yard touchdown run, putting the Bears ahead 7-3.
Tampa Bay's offense looked promising, with Mayfield and Chris Godwin making key plays. But a false start penalty and a missed third-down pass forced them to settle for a field goal attempt, which was unfortunately blocked, keeping the score at 7-3.
The Bucs' defense stepped up after the blocked kick, with Shaq Barrett and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka sacking Fields during a Chicago three-and-out.
Then came a big play moment. Mayfield connected with Mike Evans for a sensational 70-yard gain, setting up Rachaad White's four-yard touchdown run and giving the Bucs a 10-7 lead.
Both teams struggled, but Cairo Santos nailed a 52-yard field goal for the Bears, tying the game at 10.
The Bucs' two-minute drill paid off with a 25-yard field goal by McLaughlin, giving them a 13-10 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Chicago's drive was thwarted by Tampa Bay's defense, including a sack by Tryon-Shoyinka. The Bucs' offense started from their 11-yard line but quickly advanced.
A 36-yard pass from Mayfield to Evans set the stage for a pivotal 4th & 2 conversion by White. Despite a fumble scare, the Bucs found the end zone with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Mayfield to Evans, making it 20-10.
The game saw its share of overturned plays, but the Bears managed an eight-play, 90-yard touchdown drive, narrowing the score to 20-17.
Rachaad White's plays kept the ball moving, but a false start and negative runs forced the Bucs to punt with 2:38 left.
A precision punt pinned the Bears at their 7-yard line. Soon after, Shaq Barrett made a stunning one-handed interception and returned it for a game-clinching pick-six, sealing a 27-17 win.
Baker Mayfield had a solid game, going 26-of-34 for 317 yards and a touchdown. Mike Evans stole the show with 171 yards and a touchdown on six catches. Rachaad White contributed on the ground and through the air.
The Buccaneers' defense dominated, with Joe Tryon-Shoyinka getting his first multi-sack game. Vita Vea, Shaq Barrett, Cam Gill, and Yaya Diaby also had sacks. Fields had a tough day, completing 16-of-29 passes for 211 yards, a touchdown, and two late interceptions.
With this win, the Bucs are 2-0 for the third straight season. They return to Raymond James Stadium for Week 3, facing the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) on Monday Night Football.

NFL Week 17
Tumblr media
We are down to the last week of the NFL regular season. I won’t lie I was disappointed in the performance of Justin Jefferson. Jefferson was held to 1 catch for 15 yards by the shit talking corner Jaire Alexander who backed it up. The Minnesota Vikings play the Chicago Bears and although they have a losing record…the team is historically known for being good on the defensive side of the ball. Jefferson would need 194 yards to break Calvin Johnson’s record. And as optimistic as I tend to be I just don’t see him having a game of that caliber when the game itself doesn’t effect playoff seeding.
Its crazy how, I think just 4 short weeks ago, Tyreek Hill was sitting pretty with 1500 yards and well above pace to break 2,000 yards in a season. The Miami Dolphins face the New York Jets who have the #2 allowed yards per game (192.5) defense. Cheetah Hill would need 278 yards to surpass Calvin Johnson and like I mentioned above I don’t see that happening. I guess we wideout fans will have to wait another season to see a wideout surpass 2,000.
The Wideout of the Week award goes to Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans had a monstrous day with 10 catches for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. Whoever the corner on that right side was, I’m sure cried after the game. Evans scored on plays of 63, 51, and 30 yards respectively. He even dropped another 50 yard pass that would’ve been a touchdown on the goal line in the 3rd quarter.
Davante Adams was up to his usual domination of whooping db’s ass all over the field. And I appreciate his performance especially after hearing he had to take time away from the facility because the team chose to sit Derek Carr. Adams is playing at an extremely high level right now. Body language is everything and in this moment Adams body language exudes positivity and vivaciousness. In what was once called “The Battle of The Bay” the Raiders played one of their best games of the season against a San Francisco 49er team that I feel will be in the NFC Championship game. Adams caught 7 passes for 153 yards and scored two touchdowns. Adams leads the league with 14 receiving touchdowns and is 3rd in yards with 1,443. I like how he’s bounced back from a slow start. And with the way he’s played I know have to consider him for the Wideout of the Year award.
Chris Godwin has quietly put himself in position to reach 1,000 yards on the season. He needs 32 yards and will have done so for the 3rd time in his 6 year career. And this is nothing short of amazing considering he tore his ACL a little over a year ago and only missed two games because of it. While Evans dominated the day, Godwin found his way underneath coverage to finish the afternoon with 9 catches for 120 yards. The Buccaneers are hot and whoever gets this team in the first round will definitely have to be ready.
D.J. Moore has found a way to make plays this season. I think this is my 3rd or 4th time writing about the young wideout. One thing that makes me laugh when watching tape is knowing Moore is going to drop an easy one. But to his defense a lot of those really fast dudes usually have catching difficulties. Moore caught 6 passes for 117 yards and scored on an all-go switch up the left sideline. With one week remaining Moore would need 122 yards to have 1,000 yards on the season.
I’m a lover/connoisseur of the West Coast offense. I learned it my last two years of college playing for the 3rd winningest coach in NCAA history Dick Tomey. And I won a championship at Mater Dei while coaching under the same offensive philosophy. Brandon Aiyuk caught 66% of his passes with a west coast staple…2 jet lion…also known as slant. You have to have fearless wideouts in your system to run slants effectively. The wideouts can’t be no punk bitch. Aiyuk had 9 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown on a nice release for the three-yard slant.
Last on the list is Dallas Cowboys #1 wideout Ceedee Lamb. Despite early struggles with dropping the ball, Lamb has roared his way to #7 in yards with 1,307. He has played big time ball and I like how is game has progressed over the season. Now he won’t win or be in the discussion for Wideout of the Year but if I had to choose a Most Improved wideout than Lamb would probably be in the contention for that. Against the Titans Lamb caught 11 balls for 100 yards with zero tubs.
Wideouts the 2022-2023 regular season is a wrap after this week. Let’s Go Finish Strong, Make the Most of Every Play, Have Fun, and BaLLLL to the Wheels fallll!
