Morro's Redemption

Morro deserved a redemption so now I'm giving him one. I love playing with morro redemption stories and this is how they generally go though the circumstances differ (I have so many aus help me). I'm calling this my Morro redemption au but note that it's not one consistent story and there will be plot holes and contradictions when I eventually decide to make more. Bonus this is the au where all my headcannons come from/can go

It starts when he's possessing Lloyd. Being in his head, Morro has a chance to see some of Lloyd's memories and thoughts, and he starts to understand. Lloyd is just a kid. Lloyd never wanted to be the green ninja, nor did he do any work to get that title. He was forced into this role and has been hurt because of it when he never deserved any of this. It's not his fault, and Morro's anger towards him fades.

Just as Morro can see some of what's going on in Lloyd's head, Lloyd gets a peak at Morro's brain too, and he starts to understand. Morro was a kid, alone and scared and unloved. He was desperate to be a good student, to somehow repay the man who showed him kindness. When he was told he could be the green ninja he was filled with hopes and dreams and for the first time someone thought of him as something more than a street rat. He would be the best green ninja possible and make Wu so proud! He would be a great hero and make people safe and happy! When the day came and the weapons didn't react he was crushed. He thought he had done something wrong, that he had failed his dad master, that he really was just a worthless street rat. He had to prove destiny wrong, he just had to. He would do anything to prove that he was the green ninja, that he was a good student and not a waste of Wu's time. He got himself killed like that, desperate to prove himself to the person who loved him most.

*vague plot timeskip* this isn't actually one solid au so basically anything can happen here, heck even day of the departed can still happen. All that matters is for whatever reason he's stuck with the ninja/wu in the monastery.

Morro regrets what he's done and he hates himself for it. He wanted to be a hero, to help people and protect ninjago, how the hell did he end up like this? He still carries the aggression learned in the cursed realm, and tends to hide in his room, avoiding Wu most of all. It takes time but eventually him and Lloyd get to talking (replace with Cole for a slightly different situation). Morro apologizes, and they talk about the green ninja prophecy and how it affected them (see above, trauma bonding woo). There are tears and elemental powers but they end the situation doing a little better.

The other ninja are... wary of Morro. They understand that he's good (ish) now or else he wouldn't be living with them, but with how aggressive and closed off he is they haven't really talked to him or tried to understand him, and Lloyd can only share so much. While most of them are at least tolerant of Morro, Kai fucking hates him. He is pissed that he hurt his baby brother and he won't just ignore his attempt to destroy the world. Kai confronts him and it goes... questionable and definitely not mentally healthy. Essentially Kai is giving Morro shit about it when Morro interest him with a "I know and I hate myself for it" type thing (tempted to actually write this) and there's a whole lot of screaming and crying. They are by no means on good terms but Kai chills out after that (the other ninja either overhear or are told about this later) and from there they can at least start building relationships.

After this point my solid thoughts start to break down and there aren't any more major events but the general idea is Morro slowly getting more comfortable and building relationships with the ninja (and Wu but way slower). I plan another post about just those relationships but at this point his redemption is pretty much complete and my aus start to go different directions.

Morro is avoiding Wu like the plague. He still hates him and is extremely angry but he wants to be good now so he can't just kill him and he dosent know what to do so he just hides from his problems. After quite some time and definitely after the Morro Kai thing Wu confronts him and it goes absolutely horribly. (I've played out this scene in my head a dozen times a dozen different ways but there is a general idea). Morro is so so hurt and practically screams his throat raw yelling at Wu, full on mental breakdown ugly crying. When Morro is done Wu hugs him, and he lets it last for just a moment before punching him and breaking his nose. After this Morro goes back to avoiding Wu but things start to get a little better. Wu is trying to make things better and help Morro heal but it is going very slowly.

Consider this: the classic au where Morro gets revived, basically forced to work with the ninja, has a redemption arc and yadayadayada all that stuff. You know how it goes.

Except! While battling against some villain (or as a side effect of Morro' revival, it's whateves), Morro and Lloyd accidentally swap bodies.

I haven't thought why or how that happens yet, but just consider the angst potential. The comedic potential.

Picture this: Master Wu had stayed behind at the monastery while the ninja and Morro were on a misison outside, and he hears the doors open. He goes to greet the ninja, hoping that everything went well, and instead finds Kai ready to kill Lloyd while Morro of all people is trying to stop them from sending eachother into the Departed Realm. The confusion. The concern. The pure shock. Master Wu's jaw drops to the floor while Lloyd is all but ready to send Kai flying out a window. And Morro is trying to protect Kai. Kai.

Or if you're an angst lover you can always just picture Lloyd panicking each time he sees Morro because it's his body and he's not controlling it he's being controlled like he's possesed again- he looks down at his hands and panics because they're Morro's hands and Morro hurt him and now he looks just like Morro-

randomly i remembered this morro au i made 3 years ago and i decided to draw it

so i call this the ghost babysitter au

basically morro either escaped the cursed realm/was never there in the first place when lloyd was a baby and somehow (idk the details) found out he was the green ninja (misako?), found him and went to get his revenge but after seeing this lil baby abondoned by his mom and his dad evil and stuff he decided to adopt lol (he himself was an orphan too and like, cmon, he wouldnt hurt a literal baby)

ensue shenanigans at darkley's boarding school for bad boys where 10 year old evil lloyd has a ghost to help him with pranks

so now little lloyd has this random ghost guy following him around but he doesnt really think much of it- since morro's just been there his whole life

i think morro at first would be like "well, i wont be hurting this baby for revenge- but since im already here, i may as well stick around and see what happens"

and as the years go he starts warming up more and more to little lloyd, eventually he cant deny it, hes become the boy's babysitter. he doesnt mind it much anymore and cares abt lloyd very much, his anger and shit disappearing

he realizes his childhood was fucked up and wu definitely played part into that. so. hes glad lloyd's staying far away from his uncle

when 'never trust a snake' happens morro would be pretty pissed. nobody but him knows lloyd's the green ninja and he hopes it stays that way, cuz hes not about to let wu turn another kid into his weapon

also itd be pretty funny if the ninja ocasionally caught lloyd talking to himself... and how theyd freak out over the bounty being haunted

Au where morro isn’t a good guy and he’s not a bad guy, but rather a secret third thing: manager at a local supermarket.

Okay so hear me out. Some random villain or whoever does like Day of the Departed… 2!! And brings them all back like alive n shit Yknow the drill. Then morro wakes up, finds out he’s been resurrected to try to kill the ninja for like the third time in his existence, so he just. Fucks off. Right in the middle of the bad guy explaining his big bad plot to everyone. Just walks out of the building never to be seen again. The villains don’t do anything because who fucking cares. They’ve already got an army of disgruntled dead people so they just go to the next phase. Morro isn’t even going to warn the ninja or anything. The ninja don’t even know Morro is back. Morro does not care enough to tell them. This plot thread does not gain a resolution or acknowledgment until a season and a half later.

Cut to the next big baddie doing some shit, and the ninja need to go shopping to create the mystical maguffin item that will defeat them or whatever. So they’re shopping and they’re antsy and one of them gets snippy with a part time worker and all of a sudden. A fucking gust of wind so strong one of them almost falls over manifests. They looks to what caused it and there he is. Morro fucking Wu dressed in store uniform with the title of ‘Manager’ printed clearly on his badge.

And meanwhile all of the ninja are having their own separate meltdowns over this revelation that one of their greatest enemies is alive and in ninjago city, meanwhile Morro is just like “If you keep being rude to the staff I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

Morro redemption au version 2: Electric Boogaloo

What can I say I like Morro redemption. Alot less cannon compliant, alot less angsty and alot more me just messing around with my stinky rotten emo ghost.

My aus and headcannons still aren't coherent but if you want them to be then this is the main au where all the headcannons and incorrect quotes n shit go.

The beginning is pretty fuzzy (and not super important). Something something Lloyd trying to convince Morro to change sides.

Things start getting important during the preeminents attack. Morro releases her as normal but as she starts to destroy Styx and hurt people he's beginning to have doubts. See, at his core Morro is still a good person. Though he's very traumatized and tries to play the villain, he's still just a kid who dreams of being a hero. He tries to turn a blind eye to the destruction, to walk away and not think about the horrible thing he's done, but he just can't. He can't leave these people to suffer at his hand and he can't let the world he loves be destroyed. And this, my dear friends, is when Morro unlocks his true potential.

Morro turns around and just starts carving his way through the ghost army towards the preeminent, getting rid of any ghost in his way. When he reaches her he just starts beating the shit out of her (as much as he can considering size differences), until he reaches the peak of his true potential. He uses his element like he did with the windmill in episode one but on a much larger scale, lifting up houses and debris and whatever else he can and forms it into a massive spike above him before YEETING it down and fucking SKEWERING the preeminent, killing her.

From here the au once again is a lot less coherent. Something something Morro rejoining the ninja and explaining himself and moving in to the monastery. He still has issues with wu but it's overall alot less angsty.

The rest of the au is just Morro joining the ninja team and being a wonderful little shit. Lots of opportunities for green cousins and shenanigans and plenty of space for ALL my headcannons. I'm planning a post explaining his relationship with the other ninja more clearly.

Also im calling this the electric boogaloo au because I think it's funny

Sooooo I'm planning on writing a Morro redemption fic taking place in my G&G ficverse sometime between March of the Oni and Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitsu.

It's not every day that a hurricane comes to the docks of Stixx...

Morro wakes up underwater in the beginnings of a hurricane. He somehow manages to get fished out by the only boat still out on the water and calms the storm. He passes out, but not before saying Wu's name. The fishermen who saved him call the ninja, who bring Morro to the Monastery.

okey so. Silent! Ghost AU is basically:

How would the events of the show play out if Cole is forgotten the moment he turns into a ghost aka he is forgotten the moment he dies?

His “Turning into a ghost” happens way more violently in this scenario. Yang cuts his throat, and hangs him, making it look like a suicide, Cole is disoriented for a few days, not really aware of what happened. When he makes it to the bounty everyone thinks he is a ghost working for Morro. When Morro goes to attack the Ninja, noticing that the rest of the Team doesn’t remember Cole, he pretends Cole is with him, going as far as to call Cole “His beloved”.

Morro’s Plan? If the Team thinks Cole is important to him they will attack Cole to get to Morro. Cole will have no option but to defend himself in return… Besides, an earth Ninja on his side? The Preeminent would be pleased with him if he got the Earth Master on their side.

And since Cole was made Mute when he died, there is no way for him to ask for help. His plan is flawless.

The story is a rewrite of Possesed, Skybound, DotD, and hands of time. And is meant as a slow burn redemption Arc for Morro, in which he slowly realizes the error of his actions and stars falling in love with Cole.

Sadly for him, it might be too late when he realizes all the damage he caused, and Morro might end up having to ask for help to save Cole from the path he sent him in.
