people might be wondering about the state of ch.12 and uhh it’s going. I got a late start on it because my internet was being wonky this past week. But now I’m working on it, so here’s the update

R. Kelly’s sex-crime conviction and 20-year sentence in Chicago’s federal court will stand, an appeals court ruled Friday in a blistering opinion.

“For years, Robert Sylvester Kelly abused underage girls. By employing a complex scheme to keep victims quiet, he long evaded consequences. In recent years, though, those crimes caught up with him at last,” Judge Amy St. Eve of the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals wrote in the terse, 14-page ruling.

“But Kelly — interposing a statute-of-limitations defense — thinks he delayed the charges long enough to elude them entirely. The statute says otherwise, so we affirm his conviction.”

The appellate court also denied Kelly’s request for resentencing, saying they had no grounds to second-guess the 20-year prison term U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber handed down.

“An even-handed jury found Kelly guilty, acquitting him on several charges even after viewing those abhorrent tapes,” the appellate ruling states. “No statute of limitations saves him, and the resulting sentence was procedurally proper and — especially under these appalling circumstances — substantively fair.”

Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, told the Tribune Friday that they were still weighing whether to request a rehearing before the full 7th Circuit panel — a move that is rarely granted.

Meanwhile, Bonjean says she plans to petition the U.S. Supreme Court on the statute of limitations issue, which centers on whether a new law passed after the underlying crimes in Kelly’s case should have been applied.

“We believe that is an appropriate issue for review by the Supreme Court,” Bonjean said.

Kelly, 57, is serving his time at a medium-security facility in Butner, North Carolina. His current release date is Dec. 21, 2045, when he’d be a couple weeks shy of his 79th birthday, federal prison records show.

Bonjean said she just spoke to Kelly on Thursday and that he remained “optimistic” about his remaining appeals.

“He understands that this is a process, that the fight is not over and he’s optimistic that the truth will eventually prevail,” she said.

A federal jury in Chicago convicted Kelly in 2022 on child pornography charges for explicit videos he made of himself and his then 14-year-old goddaughter, “Jane.” Kelly was also found guilty of inappropriate sexual relations with Jane and two other teenage girls, “Pauline” and “Nia.” The jury acquitted Kelly on separate charges of conspiring to rig his prior Cook County child pornography trial.

Kelly abused the three girls in the 1990s, when the law allowed prosecutors to bring such charges until the victims turned 25. Congress in 2003 expanded the statute of limitations up until the victim’s death, but on appeal Kelly attorney Jennifer Bonjean argued lawmakers never intended that amendment to apply retroactively. Prosecutors could not have brought these charges any later than 2009, she said.

Kelly is also appealing his conviction in a separate federal case out of New York, where a jury found him guilty of broad racketeering charges. He was sentenced to 30 years in the case; most of his prison term for the Chicago conviction is to be served concurrently.

During arguments in February on the Chicago case, St. Eve seemed skeptical, noting that no federal circuit has yet sided with Bonjean’s position.

Prosecutors argued that Congress expanded the statute of limitations long before it otherwise would have expired for Jane, Nia and Pauline. That’s a deadline extension, not a retroactive application of the law, they argued.

Case law overwhelmingly rejects Kelly’s claims, the appellate court ruled in Friday’s order.

“(It) is not unconstitutional to apply a newer statute of limitations to old conduct when the defendant was subject to prosecution at the time of the change, as Kelly was in 2003,” the ruling states.

The higher court also shot down Kelly’s argument that the counts involving Jane, including the child pornography charges, should have been tried separately from the rest.

I think the only content of BTS I ever watched when I first got into them was their stuff from 2013-2016 (for some reason I watched AHL the most there was something about plus armies kept policing other baby armies not to watch it) anything after that is all downhill from there imo.

😂 AHL. I honestly never found anything wrong with it. They were all just learning. And the company probably treated them even worse behind cameras and armys weren't saying anything about that either, so I couldn't be bothered about the pearl clutching fake woke outrage. I got into BTS already almost an adult, life is shit when you're under a contract, etc. I never had the rose tinted glasses on that most people have when they get into them.

I watched everything. I spent hours, days, weeks catching up. I just stopped being interested as the years passed. The content became predictable, at some point they did like five run BTS episodes where they cooked. The members didn't even have conversations with each other on camera, they half-assed their messages because they didn't want to or couldn't share more, the skinship and fanservice between some members ((((TAEKOOK)))) was downright vomit inducing.

Besides, I could always go back to twitter and find out everything that had happened because Jimin report pages were always busy after every 2020/21/22 media that was released, courtesy of the Real Husbands and taekookers.

Those were probably the major things that bothered me about the post 2019 content. I'm really not interested in watching a jikook travel vlog that's most likely not going to show me anything new about Jimin. It's not like he will be having open hearted mind blowing conversations with Jungkook that would answer my questions or anything. They'll literally be goofing around. That night in the soop when he broke the mosquito net? But repeated 5x or whatever the number of episodes.

Still, I've always kept up with the content. I know everything about Jimin out there, I've seen it. You really just get used to consuming Jimin's content from clips on twitter, and it doesn't mean that you're missing out.

Usually don’t comment much about Dance Tracks but Honey Redmond's post this week reminded me of the importance of working hard and being able look back at not just the glory but the journey. I have been fortunate to have had 30 years in the music business thanks to Claussell Joaquin. Without him, I might have been stuck behind a desk at an insurance company, like I was when we met.

Where did 30 years go? In July 1993 we opened a store that turned into, 3 record labels, a merchandising company, and digital download store. It became a New York landmark for both the NY music community and collectors from around the World. Any minor business skills I may have, were cultivated over 20 years on this block dealing with everyone from the Mafia to the Hells Angels. There is fuckery everywhere, so learning to deal with masters of it was my business school. Like any 21 year old who opens a business in NYC, it was just as hard then as it is now, but we lasted a very long time because of the music we sold and the customers who bought it. Branding people go to business schools for years to try to build this, but that is like letting AI write songs, it lacks soul.

Friday afternoons were an amazing array of people from all walks of life connecting through a shared love of music and record collecting. Contrary to popular myth, the most talented folks were usually the humblest. Norman Cook or Norman Jay came and sat on those black sofas all day raising their hands when they heard something they liked. Danny Krivit always at around 9.50 pm, for his “pile”, Francois asking to pick up the needle so he could “hear that bit again”, it was fascinating to hear music the way he did and to have sold these guys and so many others, records that ended up moving dancefloors across the World.

When asking for a record the lines “Do you know who I am” or I’m a DJ do I get a discount”, were often met with the response established by Stan Hatzakis the original founder of dancetracks, “sorry mate, that is the last copy and its for Frankie Knuckles” who lived a few doors away. He often stopped in for a morning coffee and Joe and I often reciprocated when the store closed on a Friday, by going to the sound factory bar with a white label or a jam he might want to play.

To the customers who came right off work on the F train to second avenue to grab jams for their gigs, or those who just came to be turned onto a new jam, that made a shitty work week worth it. For close to 20 years that is how my weekends started. Records getting played and hands getting raised while we handed out shrink wrapped vinyl to the fiending music lovers in front of us. Anyone who played out or collected rolled by. Many of you in this group who were customers are still my close friends today. They often share messages about a record they heard or that they bought at the store or when they see a Dancetracks price sticker on a record they just picked up on Discogs. I am so grateful to everyone when they reach out, it reminds me what it was all about. Nowadays I have that same feeling when I find a record, or I am turned onto one, by somebody in a record store….forever linked and not by social media.

We had Quentin Crisp at the end of the block, Dee Pop from Bush Tetras who ran the bike messenger service in the middle of the block next to the aforementioned headquarters of the Hells Angels and Frankie Knuckles only doors away from them. When we opened there was not a drug in the world you could not buy on the block which of course brought drama, tragedy and fun.

The store had so many great staff, whose musical tastes were so influential on what went on the wall and more importantly what stayed on the wall no matter how old it was. Remember those days where your music not confined to a few hours on the front page of a website. All of these people were central to the “sound of Dancetracks” which changed with the staff. Phil Duke, Jenifa Mayanja, Kamati Pinkston, Josh Thomas, Jimmy Sky, Tyrone Francis Mickey Miguel, Tommy D Funk, Kalim Shabazz, Ramit Kreitner, June Joseph, Funmi Damian Galban and of course Jacky Sommer, all such great folks to work and listen to music with over the years. Much thanks to Augusta Quiney for such a great logo that still resonates today.

To the distributors whose stock we would hide in their warehouses so no other stores could get it, who always called us when they had something hot, you were all an extension of an ethos that was driven by great music……..never “dancefloor fillers” as they were often described by @Harry Russell, but who also knew the difference between the two.

It was a blast.

i ramble ★ frequenters and those who have read my extended about page may know that - i'm, bedbound - i eat, drink, play, and work in my bed. i live in my bed; my anatomy has bled into my bed.

this sounds... very edgy...! and tragic. but, this is, an 'informative' kind of post... i wouldn't talk abt it as oft as i do, if it brought me despair.

i don't mind questions, concerns, w/e about this - i don't plan to 'edit' this post whatsoever. this is to serve as a... 'quick reference' or summary.

content warning: detail of chronic pain, implications of neglect, severe health problems.

if you'd like to skip over the explanation, of the Why am i bedbound, start at: bc. Every Step. is Agony. i... LIVE IN BED...!! WE ARE HERE NOW.

so--! my physical ailment is, you know. Chronic Pain. i have an underdevelopment disorder both physically n mentally... as a result, some bones in both of my knees, 'grind' together. i've lost a moderate amount of cartilage in my left leg, and less so in my right.

there is no 'fixing' nor 'preventing' my problem. eventually, my right leg will catch up to my left. my medication deals to lessen the symptoms, as physical therapy, medications, injections, surgery, have been ineffective. furthermore, i have the slightest flat feet - which, ah, doesn't help matters.

walking brings me pain. throughout my life, i have had these... Pangs, burning sensations. my childhood was very anti-medicine; i never saw the doctor, for a Regular Checkup, until i was 21. until i was - 19 - i believed this agony was... normal!

the reveal came as, a nonquestion to my friends. in context of sleep. "well, you know, your body tells you when you're tired... when your legs flare up and even standing hurts, it's, 'time for bed,' you know?"

their reaction was unexpected. because, for me, that 'time for bed' pain was daily.

i had no reason to suspect this was abnormal. and i enjoyed - very, very much so - running, i loved the feeling of it. i ran every day, for hours on end. and this... obsession, is what kept my legs from fully atrophying. i saved myself thru such rigorous exercise, while in a double-edged sword way, making them worsen earlier, as i was busying the bones that grind against themselves.

upon intake, examinations... in gentle words, i was told, "expect to never run again." and - i was 21. i knew then my pain was bad, but the emotional pain of... Giving Up, my primary coping mechanism, was worse. even typing this near brings me to tears, ah. anyways...!

i began, an antiflam, and then a knee brace, and then physical therapy... and then injections... then Creams... further physical therapy... strengthened pain medication. a Surgery. Water and regular physical therapy. to this day, the only thing that brings me 'relief,' is thru numbness via marji.

my insurance won't approve of - a replacement - per my age. even then, the likelihood of success is low. it's estimated that sometime in my 30s, i'll be dependent on a wheelchair.

i live alone, with no friends or family to speak of. as i have no support system, am unemployable, and have state insurance - i have a medical caregiver. she is here 5 days out of the week, and approved for nearly 100 hours of the month...

she is the one who takes care of my - food and water. most of my meals are either prepped, needing only reheating or hands-off frying and such, or cooked for me the day of.

my activities of daily living (ADLs) are helped by her - food making, housework, hygiene, medications, and the like. she is my transport to necessary in-person appointments - and, well, keeps me from going mad due to my total isolation otherwise.

but! she is not live-in, and there are days of - incidents! she can't come...! so-and-so emergency, or mix-up, and the like. i am VERY dependent on my caregiver, but not totally... so, how do i function, alone?!

food and water - aforementioned, most of my meals are prepped. otherwise, i do 'low effort,' things like microwavable meals... and, you know, the odd delivery. >>;; re water (soda, lol), i have beside table, where there's a mini fridge. i make sure to keep a good stock of it in both of my fridges. n there is a bedside trashcan, where i dispose of any waste.

hygiene - ...i am not the best at this... i have to be helped into showering, specifically. i have a shower chair, as i cannot stand under such water pressure. i've considered dry shampoo for my hair, and i give myself the occasional wet-wipe bath. better than nothing, after all.

i have spare clothing - my robe, extra pants, etc always in my bed so in hot/cold flashes, i can redress easily.

a tv tray is slipped between my bed and the wall, which i have an organizer on - inside, it holds my medicine, glasses, wet wipes, etc.

locomotion - for when i have NO CHOICE, but to walk, i keep it scheduled. feeding the cats is conjoined with, 'food time,' or, bathroom trip. i also have a roller chair nearby - so, when necessary.. whhheee...! my apartment is small, w/ wooden floors, so i can foot-drag my way around. I Don't Like Doing This.

when outside, i am supported by my knee brace. it lessens the pain in the moment, but only enough to function for short-term and infrequent outsides. for grocery store trips, i tend to use mobility scooters... smth i, again, Dislike. i am considering inquiring about a power scooter, post my next procedure, so i can go outside more regularly. in my particular case, a cane would not be of much help and would cause further dependency on my right leg.

pet care - Water fountain! re: food, as aforementioned, i make it a 'two birds, one stone,' affair... and play - they have e/o, and Believe Me that they make their own fun - but automatic toys, too. nozomi-tan (alias) has been taught to bring toys into bed, so i can play with him there. hikaru (also alias) has learned to turn on the automatic toys by herself... many times, i am awoken, to the sound of it buzzing. Smart girl.

furthermore.. it's more that nozomi-tan takes care of ME... he is insistent, knowing of when tot ell me. Wake up - time to get up - so I don't depress in bed forever. My bathroom anxiety, he follows me there... and the like. this was his purpose.... soiled by, mm, someone else treating him more like a pet. But he is still very good at grounding me in bouts of depression, PTSD, and the like.

i believe that is most of the. 'how do you live/function?' questions...?

now. For optimization. two years ago, i was in good fortune enough to buy a relatively good Gaming Laptop, and have upgraded its RAM and storage since. thanks to public assistance, i can afford wifi... so, i, have internet. This is my base entertainment.

...as i, dont leave the house sans medical appointments, i am... Always online. Keyboard warrior. anyways -

i watch things, game, read things, write things, so on and so forth. I have consoles, but they need setup - as i stream/record things - so I game largely from here... bc of my hands, i use a controller so they do not. Claw Up. i have usb 2 and usb c cords running to my bed (as of today, w/ help, they're now snaked to my bed from the extension cord behind it), which is how i charge.. phone, headphones, tablet, controller, etc.

right in front of my bed, there is a large slab of a desk. this is where my TV is! very few things in my apartment need batteries. but, i have those - fancy - rechargeable batteries... so no worries about, replacing batteries in the tv remotes and the like. BUT! my tv here is a smart tv...! so i control it from my phone.

the tv tray - stated earlier - has an organizer wherein it holds the very basics. my meds, pens, the remote for my lamp, etc. my mood light is sat right atop of it, and it's where i rest my headphones as they're too bulky to fit inside the organizer itself.

the lap desk is where, i guess, the magic happens... as i would be chugging my laptop against the bedsheets, otherwise. it means i don't pain my legs from its weight, and i only have to rest my external keyboard on myself...

I’m sorry if I bother you, I’ve come for advice since I think you’ve dealed with this kind of stuff before. Since I was 11 years old I’ve been a fan of a cartoon character. He’s been my comfort character all my life. Back in the early 2000’s I had a fan page devoted to him. I attended a few cons where I met his Voice Actor and this character has been a very important part of my life. (1/6)

When I turned 21 I had a little picture of him tattoed in my arm. Few years ago I got a Twitter account for this character (since I don’t have the fan page anymore). All this time I’ve been posting pictures, quotes, little videos, merchandising, etc. I don’t interact with people or anything, I just post my stuff and continue with my life. I had around 1200 followers. (2/6)

About 10 days ago I noticed I had lost like 200 followers overnight. I thought it was strange but I didn’t really care because I’m not the kind of person who counts followers. Then I started to get hate messages, basically telling me that because I’m an adult, maintaining a Twitter account for a cartoon character was weird and it means I’m a pedophile. (3/6)

I’ve never talked to anyone, I guess they figured out I’m an adult since I always post stuff from the 90’s and all, but my account is clean and there’s nothing there to make anyone think I’m a creep or anything. Thing is, they have been attacking me for more than a week, I’ve lost almost 700 followers and I honestly don’t know what’s going on, where did this come from or what’s happening. (4/6)

The person I think started everything (because she’s the most vocal insulting me) is a teenager Egyptian-American girl I don’t even know. For now I’ve been ignoring everything, not a single comment, not a reply, just acting as if I hadn’t even noticed what’s going on. But it’s stressing me. I’ve thought about closing my account but I love it and also, I did nothing wrong and I don’t want to act guilty. (5/6)

Also, I don’t want to interact with teenagers or discuss with them. At this point I don’t know what to do and I’m very sad. Hi Cartoon Girl ❤️ Let me first give you some hugs and tell you how very sorry I am that you're going through this. You're being bullied, and that's a terrible thing to go through no matter what age you are or what "reasons" the bullies have for picking on you.

As for your age... There's no age limit on fandom. And there's no age limit on cartoons. I've been a life-long fan of cartoons, and one of my favorite characters ever is Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. For that matter, there's no age limit on loving children's media in general. I'm a big ol' Muppets fangirl, and I adore Sesame Street and all of the characters on it. I'm also a lover of picture books! I've liked cartoons and children's media for the first 40+ years of my life - I expect I'll continue liking 'em for the next 40+ as well 🙂

Ultimately, beyond the "growing pains" of childhood, puberty, and the teenage years, people don't really change all that much as they grow older. I'd say by about 20 or so, your core personality is mostly set. If you like playing video games or watching cartoons or reading comic books... Well, you're probably still going to enjoy those things at 30 and at 40 and at 50... and beyond. And I think most people past their 20s understand that, because they've seen it happen with themselves.

But younger people often live under this delusion that one day they'll magically "grow up" and cast aside their child-like interests and traits and become old. They'll suddenly live for cooking and cleaning and child-rearing, and they'll thrive in a 9-5 work environment of water cooler conversations and golf on the weekends. That doesn't happen. It's a fantasy. Nobody ever "grows up" that way. We just add candles on our birthday cakes and become fatter and grayer versions of the same person we were last year.

So I absolutely understand the frustrations of being an older person in fandom - hell, being an older person in general. Young people are almost like a different species at times, because they take everything so seriously but they understand so little about how life actually works. And, of course, you can't tell them this, because they're certain they know everything and old people could never understand them - despite the fact that every single one of us was young once and understands all too well just how ignorant and terrified we were then.

It's that ignorance and fear that drives a lot of the "hate" towards older people online and/or in fandom. Seeing older people who haven't "grown up" and grown out of "childish" interests like cartoons or video games goes against that magical belief that one day they too will "grow up" and become a thriving, successful adult. It means either there's something "wrong" with that adult online who's actively participating in "young people" activities... or maybe there isn't a magical "growing up" phenomenon and they're going to have to try to acclimate to "adult life" as the person they already are.

At any rate, that's no excuse for the kind of bullying you're experiencing. It sounds to me like someone is spearheading a targeted hate campaign against you specifically and claiming you're a predator. That goes FAR beyond the usual age-related fandom squabbles and generational drama. Unfortunately, there's not much I can say or do to help you with this situation. Bullies do what they do because they like doing it. Their actions make them feel powerful and in control; they beat down others to ease their own anxieties and avoid having to deal with their own weaknesses and troubles. You really can't reason with a bully, because their motivations are far deeper and much more twisted than most people can understand. All you can do is avoid them and ignore them.

Easier said than done, I know. Especially as the number of bullies seems to grow every year and the Internet gives them a particularly fertile playground to wreak havoc and multiply in.

The best way to avoid age-related bullying in fandom is to be 100% up front about your age. Post it clearly in your bio/about section (if you have one) and make no effort to hide it. I understand the impulse to avoid the topic and just "blend in" with everybody else - but that rarely ever works. AND it's the same tactic predators DO use when they try to blend in with younger people to seek out prey. To some extent, it's healthy for young people to be leery of older people in fandom spaces who aren't upfront about their age.

Being up front about your age is especially important in younger fandoms/areas where young people are more common. Will being open about your age decrease the pool of folks willing to interact with you? Undoubtedly yes - but every one of those people who won't interact with you due to your age would be uncomfortable if they had been interacting with you and then found out your age. You're not losing a follower/friend, you're just helping people who wouldn't want to interact with you KNOW not to interact with you.

In that sense, you really can't worry about the followers you've lost. If they followed you believing you're a young person and they UNfollow when they find out you're not - Well, those are people who shouldn't have clicked the "follow" button in the first place, and likely wouldn't have if you'd had your age publicly posted on your profile in plain sight. In other words, you can't lose a friend you never had. And if they don't even know how old you are and/or refuse to interact at all with people your age... Well, then they ain't no friend of yours. However, that idealization is looong gone. What about you and your family? You are the CEO of a Tech Start-up Company who ain’t no trophy wife, Your husband hails from the last line of Ackermans and who temporarily resigns from being a vice executive of your company (just because he doesn’t want to work with young, feeling philanthropist, and genius GenZers) to become a hands-on househusband, and then there’s your little daughter who has the most inquisitive mind and adventurous heart who idolizes her doting father in every shape, way, and form. A month’s absence in your home (due to a business trip) could lead to many many things. But, your husband randomly publishing a self-help book on parenting and being a househusband is not one of those things.

It’s done. 

The Business Trip is finally over.

A long and painful month of no hugs and playdates with your little princess, Amelia and no time to be pampered with love and affection from your husband, Levi was finally over!

Sometimes, you wonder how you were even able to survive these long-ass trips and conferences. Sure, these month-long trips only happened once a year, but the thought of Amelia getting older and having to miss a day of seeing her grow up and discover the world, really hurt you as all mothers would. Video Calls were enough to satisfy you and give you happy hormones even for just a short while, but still- the longer you’re not with them, the more the yearning lengthens until you’re just riddled with endless thoughts of wanting to get home as soon as possible.

First, let’s set things straight: You are the CEO of a Tech Start-up company who was born into a middle-class family and rose her way up to success. It’s as cliche as it gets but hey! Living a life as if you were in a romantic comedy was the best compliment you’ve ever gotten. 

Along with that, as far as rich families in rom-coms and coming of age movies go, are they all dysfunctional in reality? Not really. Or at least you and Levi promised each other not to end up like that. The Rich Girl meets Poor Boy (with a tragic backstory) cliche however? Yea, that’s a pretty accurate way to describe your love story. Meeting the love of your life in a Coffee Shop is actually pretty common and happens to a lot of people apparently. When Erwin Smith, Levi’s best friend (who is too smart and self-aware to fit the role of a rom-com sidekick by the way) approaches your table to ask if he and Levi could sit with you. (Because of all the days the cafe would be packed, it would be that day.) You said yes of course, and Erwin began oversharing details about the raven-haired man and you were all too invested in learning more about him anyway. Levi grew up in the orphanage after his mother had died and his father was the biggest asshole on the planet for never showing his face, he had to fend for himself after he outgrew the foster system. Starting out as an espionage in an illegal underground gambling empire to a bookkeeper at the Smiths’ bookshop. (Although this is a story for another day)  

Internally swooning over his pretty eyes and resting bitch face...it didn’t take long until the two of you fell in love and... the rest was history!

You come home to your lavish yet homey apartment in 21 West End Avenue Manhattan to be surprised by your father-daughter duo absolutely knocked out on the couch. Amelia was snuggled up to her father, her feet on his lap and a sleeping position you could not possibly comprehend, a Disney movie playing in the background, and both of them were wearing matching Minion onesies whilst yours was folded neatly on the coffee table just waiting to be worn by you when you got home. 

It was a rare sight to see and you can’t help but just stare lovingly at the wonderful scene before you. Not only was it rare to see Amelia asleep before seeing you (or in the case of your business trips, during your daily video calls with them) but it was also rare to see your husband sleeping so soundly and his insomnia not kicking in. 

Amelia hears your footsteps, her eyes are still shut as she tries to predict what you will do next. She finally assesses when she will make her move and surprise you when you place another fleece blanket on top of them and plant a kiss on both of their temples. your daughter’s eyes suddenly flutter open. Her eyes beaming and glowing off the same light that twinkled in her father’s as she jumps off the couch, making sure not to wake up Levi.

“MOMMY!” She screams in the most quiet volume her cute voice could muster. She runs up to you and envelops you in a tight hug, jumping up and down as she does so. “I missed you Mommy! I missed you soooo much! How was sandbox in K-korea!? Was there a lot of sand!? Did you have a lot of pwaymates there!?”

You giggle at your daughter’s enthusiasm, combing your fingers through her hair. “Lili, Sandbox is like the Silicon Valley of Korea. It isn’t necessarily a sandbox like in a playground, baby.”

“OOOH! JUST LIKE SIWICON VAWWEY!” She chirps, tightening her hug and reaching for your hand and squeezing it. “AH WAIT!” She gently pushes you away and makes a beeline to her room. “ME AND DADDY HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU! BUT CLOSE YOUR EYES FIRST OWKAAY?!” She calls out from her room and you shout back a “yes!” to her in between your giggles, unable to contain the sudden rush of serotonin your daughter had given you from her simple yet adorable antics.

Another trope that you can debunk is that rich moms can be a hands-on parent too! After your maternity leave ended and when Amelia had finally reached her toddler years, you absolutely made sure that you were going to take care of her every second, minute, hour and day of your life. As soon as she turned two, she became the inquisitive, smart and ever so curious little girl you and Levi had always hoped for. She had your (h/c) hair and Levi’s icy yet warm and loving milky grey eyes. If the color of Levi’s reminded you of dark and stormy clouds, Amelia’s was gleaming. Like that of the clouds after a terrible storm. She was an absolute blessing and although you weren’t a perfect mother, (spoiling her more than you should) Levi was an amazing father. Growing up without parents was tough for him and he was going to make sure that Amelia is going to have an amazing childhood and be surrounded by the love of two parents that he never had and never got to experience. 

You always and will forever have trust in Levi. There has never been a day where you doubted him. Despite the impressions and assumptions that people have of him. How he was cold, scary, and even calculating. But, you are always quick to shut down those rumors. They don’t know the Levi Ackerman behind the cold and mighty front he shows. He is a man who has gone through so much and yet has so much love and care to give. How he notices and remembers the littlest details, how he never takes anything for granted and how he loves and cherishes everything so wholeheartedly.

When Amelia turned six, you sadly had to go back to work formally. Right timing too because your genius (with very himbo tendencies) younger cousin, Eren, was about to be part of your start-up company and he had a lot of amazing plans that had to come into fruition. Even bringing in a group of his own friends (who all graduated in MIT by the way!) who are willing to contribute so many amazing ideas and hackathons that were just waiting to happen.

The entrance of these youthful and hopeful genius entrepreneurs also brought about the temporary exit of your very own husband from your very own company. Apparently, working with newly graduated Gen Zers (as a millennial) was too much for him. They were nice and they were going to be a very integral part of the company. But, the boomer inside Levi can’t just can’t keep up with this sudden surge of energy and youthfulness within the higher-ups. It was also a great opportunity for him to take care of Amelia even more. So, you didn’t stop him from doing so! 

It’s been a year since he temporarily resigned and became an official-unofficial househusband. Or as your best friend Hanji likes to put it, You are the Girl Boss and he is the Male Wife. Amelia is now 7 years old and she’s currently taking Ballet classes (Levi picks her up during the weekdays, and the both of you pick her up on the weekends) and has developed a hyperfixation over Sanrio Characters and the Disney movie, Frozen. She was growing up to be a wonderful girl and you just can’t wait to hear what she and Levi had done during your absence.

She skips her way back to you, a book tightly clutched in her hands. “SURPRISE!” Amelia gingerly places a book on your hand. You open your eyes and tilt your head in question at the piece of literature she had just given you as you read the title aloud.  “The Way of the House Husband… written by Levi Ackerman.” Your eyes shift to a little circle on the lower side of the cover,  “The husband of (Y/N) Ackerman, the CEO of Survey Corp Tech…!?” 

“Daddy and I made a book while you were away!” She claps her hands together and grabs the book back from you, turning it to the first page. “See there’s even a dedication! To (Y/N) and Amelia! The two brightest stars in my galaxy!”

“Oh that’s too cheesy. No way would your dad write something like this out of the blue, Lili.” You scoff, shaking your head in disbelief. Your daughter looks at you with downcast eyes while you were still trying to process that your husband literally just wrote a whole-ass book while you were away. “Who helped publish this so quickly, Amelia?”

“Uncle Erwin of course!” She’s frowning for one second and now she’s beaming at you again. “Please please read it mommy! Me and daddy worked really really hard on it!” She taps the hardbound cover of the book in rhythms. “This is the Amelia Edition! Daddy said he cut out some stuff so that it would be okay for me to read and for me to give to you once you get home! It’s my come back home gift for you mommy!” She moves the book to your lap and hops up next to you on the loveseat that you were sitting on. Before you know it, Amelia is resting her head on your shoulder and coaxing you to start reading to her like it was a bedtime story. 

You clear your throat and hold her by the waist so that she can feel more secure in her seat. “Okay… okay… let’s begin shall we? In a kingdom far far away…”

“That’s not how the book is like mommy! Read it properly like the way daddy did!”

“I was just joking, honey. Let’s get started. Rule #1 of the House Husband is…”

Rule #1: Fathers, be good to your children. You are the weight of their world.

“One thing I learned as soon as I was at home practically 24/7 is that your child will be more cautious and weary of you. They will observe you because they look up to you. They will watch your every move, follow you around, and will imitate whatever you say and whatever they hear from you. Talk to them, teach them things they need to know, support them in their hobbies, interests, and even if you have to be the extra princess in her tea party, do it.  The thing is, you will leave an eternal mark on the hearts of your children.”

Amelia got even more closer to Levi when he was finally stationed at home. Always grinning from ear to ear and boasting to her classmates how cool her dad was whenever he would pick her up from school. She was proud to tell them Levi’s heritage even if Amelia never got to meet her Grandma Ackerman and Grandpa Ackerman. When Levi would take her out for errands, may they be groceries, cleaning the house, baking, cooking, laundry, or just going on his morning jog, Amelia would be there to accompany him. In fact, she’s gone shopping with Levi so many times that she has memorized the brand names of cleaning detergent and bleach before she could even memorize the multiplication table.

 She’s even caught up with her father’s cynical sense of humor. And because of that, Levi had to tone down on his sardonic jokes around the little girl. Levi wasn’t necessarily physically affectionate but he does soften around Amelia as the little girl never fails to supply him with endless hugs and kisses on the cheek. She may be both a Mommy’s and Daddy’s girl, but the way she looks up to Levi is the kind of father-daughter bond that you hardly see in real life. She aspires to be like him. Even if there were times where she would be scolded by you both, (most especially Levi) she never took that against you.  She sees all the good and positive sides of your husband that others outside of your circle fail to see.

Rule #2: Let your children know that they have other “guardian angels” who they can rely on aside from their parents.

“My daughter has both my wife and I’s best friends to learn from or to look up to. Her kooky aunkling and her blunt uncle have become one of the most precious people in her life. Even the young ins working at Survey Corp Tech have become older siblings to her and get along with her so well. Remember that there will always be close relatives or friends who can and will help them when they lose their way. Let them spread sunshine and love to others.”

Whether it’s a regular trip to Coney Island or your monthly trips to Disneyland, Hanji or Erwin would totally tag along. Amelia absolutely loves and vibes with Hanji’s quirkiness so well. They would wear matching Mickey Mouse ears, ride the kiddie roller coaster that Amelia wanted to ride on a million times per visit, buy her all the ice cream and treats she wants (despite Levi’s warnings and the reprimanding that Hanji has to suffer from the both of you right after.) They just want Amelia to experience all the fun, the joy, and innocence of living in the moment. As a kid, it’s better if she sees how precious life is, how she should cherish it and that she doesn’t have to grow up so fast just yet. 

Erwin on the other hand, brought out Amelia’s intellectual side more. As soon as a new and critically acclaimed children’s book hit the shelves, you bet Amelia has a copy right away. Whenever Levi would take her to Erwin’s bookstore, she wanders around like it’s this huge mysterious archive that can only be accessed by her. The Adults section is forbidden, so were the cheap romance novels in the back, and the books written by youtubers. God forbid she read those. When her Uncle Erwin got her into reading Roald Dahl’s children’s books, you had to watch Amelia run around the penthouse with a little red ribbon tied on top of her hair, wanting to be referred to as Matilda, along with you and Levi having to pretend that she had telekinetic powers for 6 months straight. It was her cutest phase yet and you just know there were many more to come. 

There were also Eren and his friends who loved Amelia dearly whenever she came over to visit. Your little cousin refused to be called Uncle Eren and instead wanted to be called big bro, and in which Amelia happily complied. Whenever it was Amelia’s weekly “Visit Mommy at Work” day, she had her own room in your office where Eren and your other young associates would babysit her. In fact, they would actually take turns in babysitting at your condo whenever you and Levi went out for date night. Amelia was introduced to playing video games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon solely because of them (more specifically because of big bro Jean, big sis Sasha, and big bro connie.) They even ended up influencing her to watch anime when her big brother “Minmin” and big sis “Mimi” accidentally left the TV on and Amelia literally binge-watched half of the existing Studio Ghibli movies to this date. 

Rule #3: Your children will think that you are Superman or Iron Man. Make sure to act like them and never let them down by ruining their innocence and imagination.”

(A little note was attached to this page: Please don’t let Amelia read this. Read her a fairy tale instead while skimming through this.)

“It all started when my daughter found an entire encyclopedia on ancient and legendary family clans around the world. The Ackerman clan was on the very first page after the intro and she read through all 50 pages of it. The look of awe on her face when she read that her dad’s ancestors exhibit physical abilities much higher than the average human. In a 7 year old’s mind and vocabulary, that automatically translates to a superhero akin to that of Superman. 

Ever since then, My daughter has forced me to become more creative with doing very mundane tasks and chores. I pretend to have superpowers. Such as teleporting around the house whilst cleaning. I tell her to close her eyes or else my teleportation powers won’t work. Then when I cook in the kitchen and she watches me intently, I tell her that the salt and pepper have magical properties that only I can touch and hold because to her, at that moment, I was “Doctor Stwange.”

and one time, when I picked her up from school, she was babbling on about how she told her friends and playmates that she had two superhero parents she was very proud of. Then one of the other kids asked if I was a strong soldier who killed huge humanoid monsters using sharp blades. To which I replied that could have possibly happened in a different universe. Her hearty laughs and giggles whenever she sees me using my superpowers makes me anxious over the fact I have to tell her someday that my powers never existed.”

Whilst you were on your monthly trip, you and Levi would have private video calls whenever Amelia was finally put to bed. There, he told you about what happened in Amelia’s ballet classes that week and how the single mothers were more persistent than usual.

They could clearly see that Levi was not interested but apparently the fact that your husband waving his ring finger every single time someone approached him wasn’t obvious enough, apparently the fact that he was married made the risk even more worth it to these prying moms who had nothing better to do. It wasn’t until Amelia had enough and respectfully called them out by saying that his dad was married and he was never going to be interested in Karens (a slang word that she learned from Eren and friends) Since then, the invasion of parent to parent boundaries had finally stopped. Levi was very relieved and at ease whilst telling you the story yet you were laughing your heart out at the ingenious remarks of your very own daughter on top of the irresistible charm and looks of your own husband that made single mothers be damned. 

Rule #4: The most important rule of all: Love your spouse as you want your children to be loved in the future.

“Since my wife is on a business trip right now as I type this and she may or may not know that I had written this book for her to read when she comes home, my daughter came up to me a few days ago and told me how she missed her mom so much. The video calls we had every night were not enough to satisfy her for the remaining days her mother would be gone. She then proceeds to tell me that she loves the way I love (Y/N). My daughter loved how patient I was and how I supported her through every endeavor that her mother had ever thought up with that brilliant mind of hers. She mentioned how I was there for her through every success and failure, through hardships, difficulties and misunderstandings. My daughter was happy because I stuck with her mother through everything. All the pain, suffering, conflicts that we both experienced individually and as husband and wife. Little ears and little eyes are watching and observing the actions and sweet gestures of their parents. Make sure to remember that.”

“What is gravy (grief) if not love persevewing?” (persevering) My daughter had even recounted a quote from the Disney Marvel show, WandaVision just to prove a point to me. That was when I realized something and decided to list down a few things: 

1. The best lovers are the best of friends.

Levi’s relationship with you was rocky at first simply because the two of you didn’t have a lot in common. Your personalities clashed and the two of you could barely make things work in the beginning. He was always well-dressed, on time, and was very prim and proper. However, Levi was cold, strict, and unapproachable. You on the other-hand were quite the opposite. You used to arrive late, didn’t care too much about your style as long as you wore the appropriate outfit, but you were carefree, laidback and friendly. Having to set aside your differences was a process that required sacrifice, time, and effort. It took long and a lot of petty arguments before the two of you fully understood each other, accepted each other's faults and quirks, and became even closer. Both as friends and lovers. You and Levi treat each other not as just the “person I love and I’m married to for the rest of my life”, but also as a best friend for life. Soulmates

2. Their dreams are just as important as yours.

Levi’s dream was to open up a tea shop and start a family with you. That was all he ever wanted. The blissful simplicity of his in comparison to your techy and out of this world ambitions, goes to show how much they weigh as aspirations and wants in life. You have to value your significant other’s dreams and ambitions just as much as you highly value yours. No matter how hard or how simple they are, the both of you can achieve it with the help of each other. The only thing left in your agenda was to open up his long-awaited Tea Shop. You were about to surprise him with the plans of opening one up on the day of his birthday, and you just can’t wait for that day to finally come.

3. You have to let them be free.

Levi absolutely knew what he was getting into when he met you. It was love at first sight when he met you, He drunkenly admitted that one time when he’s had too much champagne on your friday date night. He knew that you were an adventurer. A wandering soul who had a goal and a purpose set in stone. He always knew you were going to reach greater heights and he knew that you would never leave him behind and would always have him go on a ride. He’s always known about your capabilities and your potential and he didn’t want you to stray away from that. And, if the time were to come that you had to leave him behind to soar greater heights, he’d understand that. He’d always let you be free and make sure you don’t fly too close to the sun. That was just how selfless Levi is. The thing is, he knows you would do the same for him. It was a perfect balance. 

4. It is an honor to love and to be loved by them.

To be wrapped in the arms of someone who feels like home or has become the definition of home, To be stargazing with on a chilly summer night in where you talk about your future and your plans, To be sharing a cup of coffee or tea with in the morning and begrudgingly dancing with you against his will, To be watching your child playing in her room and do nothing but look adoringly at the most precious soul to have ever been produced by your encompassing love, and to be spending the rest of your life with someone who has done nothing but be with you through every pivotal moment in your life was such an honor. 

It is an honor to be loved by Levi, as he is honored to be loved by you. 

“...The end.” You close the book with a deep but contented sigh. Tears were welling up in your eyes and you’re trying your best not to break down in front of Amelia. 

“Mommy… are you crying?” She tilts her head in inquiry. “Is it because you’re tired from work?”

“No. baby. These are happy tears, Lili. Don’t worry.”

Before you could speak up once more, you notice Levi had slowly sprung up from the couch, and began to stretch his arms. His eyes widen when he sees you from the opposite couch. “(Y/N)... you were supposed to arrive at 6 AM right? Amelia and I were supposed to pick you-”

Amelia opens her mouth to speak as she jumps down from the couch and crawls up to sit next to Levi. “Daddy! I showed Mommy the book you wrote! She loved it! Right, Mommy?”

“You did?” Your husband perks up from his seat, clearing his throat. “T-that’s not the entire book yet by the way. We had to give back the original copies to Erwin for reprinting. The self-help book is currently rising up the charts to be a New York Times Best Seller.” 

Before Levi could properly react, you move to the free space on the couch next to him. Holding his hand and gazing into his forlorn yet loving eyes, you muttered. “Love, that’s amazing. I’m really really proud of you. Next time though, please do tell me that you’ve written a self-help book and dethroned all those mommy authors from the bestselling charts.” 

Levi stifles a laugh, stroking your thumb and bringing you and Amelia closer to him for warmth. “I will. I will.” 

Amelia looks up at the two of you, squeezing out of the sandwich, so that you and Levi can have your quality time with each other. “Goodnight Mom! Goodnight Dad!” She approaches the two of you so that she can be given her nightly kiss on the cheek as she retreats to her room. 

“What if I write a novel too?” You joke, snuggling up to Levi, your husband wrapping his arm around you. “The title could be… The way of the Wife boss?” 

“That could be a good sequel. A shared book universe. Then, Amelia could continue the collection when we’re old and sour as hell.” Levi mused.

“Pfft. I guess only time will tell. I love you Levi.”

“I love you too (Y/N).”

Now you add Peter who you know has a crush on the reader. It's sort of adorable. I highly recommend it. It will keep you at the edge of your seat and your jaw hitting the floor a couple of times along the way.

10. Name your latest project?

I drew a 19 page story in an hour for my latest project.

And, afterward he had me look over those 19 pages for errors. 

It was an awful experience, his handwriting is terrible!

11. How long to complete a usual chapter?

Normally it takes 9 hours to do 19 pages, but lately I’m getting better.

My princess takes 3 days to do 45 pages. 💧💧

12. Do you have any goals?

Help the princess get faster (and do more work)

Spend more time with Osabu outside of work (cry)

I have a lot, but I never seem to have to time. Anymore

But I want to visit the Washington Hotel

After that you should bring me flowers, take me out shopping and we can tour around (laughs)

My favorite is “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu”

14. Do you have any major fears?

One time a snake snuck into my house. And I’m scared of finding them in the water. I think I would die if I came across one when swimming or mountain climbing, they freak me out.

15. How would you describe yourself?

The prince is kind and shy - sensitive 🤍

Outgoing. Out of being a sadist or a masochist, I’m a masochist. I’m socially awkward. Bad at traveling. Love to eat out. Love gadgets (I’m always a sucker for buying the lastest electronics).

I have a difficult time being myself in public.

Having to deal with publications. I had to go to the doctor’s for two days in a row too, that made my heart pound with frustration

When he met Kanno Miho, he said “Whoah, you’re the voice of bastard?” He was so happy (laughs)

2) I answered a bunch of questions from foreign fans, they were shockingly well-informed

I loved getting little gifts. Really, that’s it.

I forgot, too much made me happy

Things that made you sad: Judy and Marie went straight to video and the prince had done all the design work! When he found out, he cried, whyyyyy 💦

Getting to watch my favorite variety shows on video

34. What do you do right before you tell a girl “I really love you”?

I fall in love...and I want to tell her so but...

But then I think “Oh god, she’ll think you’re weird” or that I’m not doing it in the right setting, I freak out and afterwards I hyperventilate from shyness.

35. Marriage wishes

I always wanted to find the right woman to be my wife, to have some kids with, where I wouldn’t have to work much. But then part of me never wanted to have kids or get serious. I didn’t want a wedding. The life of a manga artist isn’t suited to married life, after all. But lately I’m thinking of ways to make the two work together. They’re both works in progress.

36. Your favorite music to listen to in private

“The past,” “Cruelty” (I think that’s it) and other really old songs by Matsuri Bayashi. I can’t help but like her, I’m a weak man.

But I love her

Yeah, check her out!

Other than that I like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc.

I rode a beautiful new bike.

...I’m apologize. I know the story, but I haven’t. But I did read the manga.

I make fun of him when he wears ponytails and call him “Chibiusa!” all day long ~~~~ 💦💢

39. Goals for 1998

I need to keep in touch with my loved ones more, and I need to become more socially involved, and study at my craft harder. If I can accomplish all that, I think I’ll be a satisfied man.

Maybe the prince will give his editor a passport to correct his errors without getting upset? Come on, prince.

40. Professional goals for this

That’s unclear, I’ve spent a lot of time calling out sick from home.

Whaaat. I’m sure it wasn’t that much.

He did have to go to the doctor’s a lot, and I had to go to lady doctors as well. We had a bad health year. (I hope next year will be better)

41. What did you think of the movie Men in Black?

They spent about three years making the backdrops and characters, and I think it came out great. I was really shocked at how good it turned out.

Right! Totally! I’ll read your manga of it!!

42. What about the Pokemon movie that cames out December 16th?

If I go see it, I’m sure it’ll be good. But so far I don’t know.

When I was little I used to carry a camera to photograph all the things I saw - Pokemon’s kind of like that, right? (laughs)

I’m thinking about a mix of my Adam’s family + the Protege!Tommy au I’ve been bing reading lately.

Like Dream isn’t possessed by Nightmare and is a fairly young God. Only 21, which is young and especially Royalty which means he’s the youngest child and grandchild, he doesn’t know better and Dream likes knowing. He strives to have a complete family and goes a bit possessive when Wilbur and Techno show up on his server. Later followed by Phil.

Now the reason why Dream knows those three were because they were originally a part of his family while growing up. Phil and Sky, his Pa, were ‘married’ in a sense since Mumza is still a part of this Au. Wilbur was Phil and Kristens son but seen as a son by Sky as well. Techno was adopted by Sky and Phil. but before that Sky had Dream with Puffy, the normal backstory I have for Dream yada yada.

Something makes Phil part with Sky and take Techno and Wilbur with him. Kristen doesn’t know what happened, just out of loop with the God, and stays down from her Realm to help take care of Dream. who’s just old enough to start remember fully and just in time for his magic, freakishly strong for a supposed Demi, to start lashing out with his feelings. With the lose of Wilbur and Techno, leaving Dream without anyone around his age since Malachi and Levin are way to old to play with him, Dream becomes a mother hen to his friends.

All through out eight grade through the Admin Academy he mother hens everyone. Newly fresh students down to newly graduated Admins. Even older Admins that run their own server get momed by him every now and then when they cross path’s. This feeds into his need for a full family, he just wants siblings dammit, but stamps it down.

It isn’t until everything starts to go haywire in his server and everyone subconsciously starts to hang up on Tommy does Dream really ‘snap’. Taking Tommy out and kinda force adopting him into the family. Tommy’s absolutely surprised by the switch up from angry and manipulative Dream to “I swear to god if you don’t finish your coke I’ll shove it down your throat” Mama Bear. Better yet when Sky inevitably allows Dream, he really has no say since Dream adopted like over thousands of kids through this schooling, and doesn’t think Tommy’s any different.

Not until he spots Dream and Tommy out in the castle’s pastures. Watching as Dream help hoists Tommy onto one of the bigger war horses and teach the younger boy how to steer and command. Encoring and smiling - and when did he take off his mask around people he ‘adopted’? - and wheezing. Leaving the blonde for just a moment to hop on another one, a bigger one then Tommy’s, and gently lead the boy and two animals out to a trail. Sticking close by and smiling down when Tommy let out a squeal when his horse picked up speed.

Dream wasn’t one not to wear his mask students and teachers. Even his best friends, Sapnap and George, had only ever seen the smiling mask. Nothing ever above the bottom lip at most. A tick Dream had pulled from somewhere and one Sky wasn’t going to push his son out of. So seeing him trot alongside the other blonde boy, maskless with his hair in a low pony and freckles for the world to see, it wiggles something inside Sky’s chest.

Soon he’s talking to Tommy more. Slowly getting to know him because he’s staying with them and Dream always butts in when someone ask’s Tommy about his home. A clear indication that this boy is staying and that Dream will fight anyone about it. Sky’s own heart hasn’t healed that much from the loss of Wilbur and Technoblade so Tommy, loud sarcastic cursing Tommy, was almost like a balm.

Watching him and Dream wrestle in the gym or race around the tracks out in the back by the tennis courts made the King smile. The more Tommy stayed the more he brightened up the castle as a whole. Flowers bloomed a week where he sat and animals just seemed a bit happier when he’s around. Blue eyes bright and just as thirsty for knowledge like Dream was his age. Books upon books read and if the pair aren’t outside their in the library. If not in the library then their in the kitchen. Dream desperately trying to teach Tommy how to cook even simple meals and can only sigh and shake his head fondly when Tommy burnt yet another dish.

He even has his own emote mask now like Dream. It’s resting face is a frown while Dream’s is a smile and he only really wears it outside of the castle ground. Getting shy around all of Dream’s rowdy friends. It’s just not Sky who’s platonically falling for the blonde.

Aphmau ended up making a red and white cape for the boy. Slightly furry around the collar and definitely enough to drown him in soft fabric. The edges looked clawed at but were made that way, more like a giant shawl than anything. Seto made a pendant kind of like Sky’s. It holds many uses like a compass to find the nearest Admin when he’s lost or even acts up like a back up communicator/chat page if he lost his device. Sparklez made an enchanted metal crown of flowers that gave him almost the same amount of armor protection as iron.

Just... I think I might call this Little Bother!au
