This little journey of treasure hunting and a bit of exorcism on the side (or was it a journey of exorcism with some treasure hunting on the side?) with my favorite weeb put me in mind of a different duo...

The End

Mizuki had heard Aymeric and his knights were due to leave. The emperor had deemed the mountain 'safe' and their aid was no longer required.

In the end it was simply an attempt to boost the relationship been the countries and for that it had succeeded.

Mizuki was sad to hear the news but she had no say in the matter. That the knights had even gotten a little close to Mizuki was unexpected and caused a lot of whispers.

Days before their departure, Mizuki was sent up the mountain. When she returned, the knights would be gone. He would be gone. Mizuki shook her head and focused on the yokai that had sprung from the bamboo.

Safe? No they just didn't want any outsiders to know it was a persistent problem. One couldn't just remove all the yokai in existence.

Cleansing the temple. Mizuki headed back down the path she had come from. The road she had already cleared. Ashen grey storm clouds swallowed the sun bringing a sudden gust which pulled Mizuki almost off her feet.

I cleared it. How did it creep up on me?

A voice called out to her. Why do you fight? They treat you like they treat us? Stay. You'll have freedom.

It was right. Often she had thought to simply stay on the mountain. After all she had walked these hills almost weekly, sometimes daily. Surely it would be easier and more effective to just stay, she'd be classed a hermit much like Gorai.

What did it matter if she eventually faded from memory.. she was a tool at best to her master. A shield so she didn't have to brace the mountain herself and kami forfend she send her precious apprentices.

The storm clouds seem to fade and Mizuki carried on her walk. The presence had vanished.

Perhaps it realised I wouldn't succumb to becoming a yokai..

She blessed the area and walked on until the trees parted and she could view the whole of the mountain below her.

There was a pain in her heart. To know kindness for the first time, it hurt incredibly to know she'd never experience it again and she would never see that beautiful knight with the sparkling crystal like eyes again.

All good things must come to an end..

So I finally ran through all of Mount Rokkon and oh lord do I have so many ideas for some new Remia lore (✿◠‿◠) and is the majority of it going to be sad because i'm deathly allergic to fluff? yes, yes it is.

Also fun fact about Remia, her unique magick allows her to peer into the memories of those nearby as well as feel their emotions to a heightened degree in exchange for the loss of the memories pertaining to her own life. But if she's near those who know her, or comes into contact with objects that hold significant value to someone, she can peer into their memories and piece back her own recollection to some degree. The only time she can remember Yotsuyu is when she's holding her mirror—though that's rare since along with their shared memories coming back to a frighteningly vivid degree, she's also haunted by Yotsuyu's afterimage as though she were still alive. And despite knowing she'll never be able to move on so long as she keeps Yotsuyu's mirror, she can't bring herself to part with it either ;-;

I got the Mount Rokkon goodies \o/. With confidence, I can walk away from that place, having obtained all the treasures I desired 👋🏻. I'm sure Hancock is happy too, somewhere... wherever he is. Either in Kugane or visiting clientele 🤷🏻‍♀️. Probably grinning ear to ear looking at the massive number(s) on his income sheet(s).
