i wish that 1. it was more of common knowledge that jason’s death marks a huge shift in tone of gotham-centric stories 2. dc also capitalised on this meta in their storytelling.

i want to see flashbacks that imitate the cheesy and sweet style of silver age nostalgia (one that we know from barr’s detective comics run for example). jay should have the iconic original robin costume (i don’t care that it’s silly, it’s supposed to be silly), and he should be cracking up jokes that made sense only in the 80s. and there should be scenes of him and batman (batman who used to smile at him openly) investigating in daylight.

cut to panels of dark, gritty gotham that have dominated contemporary stories. military boots in place of the pixie ones. blood on jason’s hands.

Honestly though, as much as I'm annoyed that Carlos didn't appear or at least get mentioned in Beyond the Isle of The Lost and what he is doing after D3 while his friends do appear and mention what they doing, I still will take it over The Royal Wedding and their mention of him, aka implying he's dead, because that's still more disrespectful then not mentioning him at all. At the very least that one is clearly Melissa not knowing how to handle the situation with Carlos and therefore, deciding to not touch on it while Royal Wedding felt the need to do so so they could be fine with themselves when deciding to drag Disney Descendants out beyond three films.

I used to ignore people who complained about Jay's personality in post-movie Ninjago bc I thought they were being overdramatic... but the more I think about it I do kinda agree that they tuned him down a bit. He's still Jay its not like he's a completely different person, but I can agree he doesn't feel as energetic/chaotic as he used to.

He's got some banger moments post-movie, but I really do gotta wonder if his personality change was to combat people finding him annoying. Which is sad I find annoying Jay to be really endearing.

I truly love how I keep asking Ansi what his relationship dynamic is like with Hobie and she never gives me a straight answer. Straight up said, "We're merely two individuals who like to exist in the same space." My love.......what does that mean? I just need to know what y'all like to do together.

And then it clicked.

They cry together.

Hobie is coming close to the end of his rebellion. Constantly fighting to bring forth a better future for his community.

Ansi is at the start of hers. Completely unaware of what that even means for him and even more lost in where to start.

Neither of them have proper outlets to let out the emotional stress that's pent up inside of them. But when they're together that dam collapses. Everything that they've been holding back comes pouring out. And when neither of them has the strength left to cry anymore they sit on Aunt Maybelline's couch eating beignets and drinking chamomile tea, watching whatever's playing on the old antenna tv.

They're just two individuals who like to exist in the same space.
