Or, for something less overtly GO and A/C… Maybe some song lyrics? To go all in on the vibe, “Darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream”

Any fandom, and ship, even ones I don’t know. 😂

Oh for the first one it's gotta be a classic missing scene from the night the world didn't end fic, with Crowley and Aziraphale at Crowley's flat. Not a first time, but yet another "almost". The difference is that this almost ends with hope instead of regret, because maybe the world isn't ending, and maybe there's a life and a future for them outside the things keeping them apart. If the world was ending, then they'd want - but if it's not, they could have so much more.

There's so many good takes on that night already, though, so maybe I'd do something a little different. I'm not sure how widespread this idea is, but in the scene before they get on the bus together, Crowley is talking about Agnes' prophecy and there's a moment before the camera cuts away where a flash of inspiration crosses Aziraphale's face. My read is that this is the moment Aziraphale figured it out, and therefore it's possible that when they take each other's hands on the bus, that's when the swap occurs. Maybe by the time they get to Crowley's flat, they're already wearing each other's faces. In that case maybe I would do something more humorous, and upon reflection, that could also work for a playful take on "Darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream."

Djdjd thank you you're very sweet <3 I definitely think it's coherent! And I think it's sold analysis! I especially like the point you've drawn about Muriel here. It's easy to see them and how much they immediately loved earth and to see a future Aziraphale would love to be in. She's so immediately enamored and, odds are, most angels are more like Muriel than they are like the Archangels. I've always loved the idea of Aziraphale creating a space on Earth for angels to be exposed to it and humanity and the idea of him applying that in this context and pulling hope from the idea of most angels being like them is a very fun space to play in.
