Propaganda for The African Queen : She literally took down a Nazi boat, what more can you ask of a little steamboat? They armed her with a torpedo and she blew up the Nazis. Oh and she helped the main characters escape by being reliable through treacherous river conditions

Admittedly, I'm not super involved with the wider part of the Pokemon fandom, but as a Certified Pokemon Emerald Enjoyer (TM)

WALLY DOES NOT GET ENOUGH LOVE!!!

My boy Wally! My son, my bestie, my incredible incredible boy! Like, I personally feel like of all the rivals, he's one of the ones people talk about the least and that's just so sad to me, considering what a huge part of my childhood and play experience he was. Like, he's a character with like a respiratory illness that is worsened by the ash of the volcano Hoenn is built on, and not even his own father believes in him, but Wally run off to become a pokemon trainer, and he does it!

Also fun fact: after I beat him on Victory Road I couldn't figure out where to see him again and was haunted by the idea that I might have killed him.

Also Mr. Briney and Peeko need more love. They just give you a ride in their boat, but this old man and his wingull are basically family to me. I call for Mr. Briney to become the new tumblr sexy man.

Pokémon Pocket Monsters Ruby - Sapphire Volume 1 - Chapter 10

Red, Clefairy, and the others help protect Mr. Briney's Wingull, Peeko, from falling into the hands of Team Magma.

This is Team Magma's introduction chapter. Maxie doesn't seem as serious as he does in other media, and he certainly isn't on par with Giovanni from before. We don't even know what kinds of Pokémon he or the other members of Team Magma use. At this point, he's a blank slate that will become more detailed in future chapters.

Besides Team Magma, this chapter also introduces Mr. Briney and Peeko. Since Mr. Briney shares the same old man sprite with other characters in the Ruby and Sapphire versions, Anakubo had to get creative. This is the second manga I've read based on the Advanced series that has given Mr. Briney a unique design. (The other being Pokémon Adventures.) His characterization is pretty on point. An old man who adores his pet Wingull.

In this manga, Mr. Briney states that Peeko isn't his. But I think he's trying to say that Peeko is less like a Pokémon companion to him and more like a family member. Then again, it had that message written by Maxie around its leg. So I guess she's a stray Pokémon he decided to take in and raise as his own.

This is the last chapter of the first volume. The next manga in line for translation will be Pokémon Pocket Monsters DP.

As far as a story goes for Archie it taps into my head canon that he was mentored by Mr. Briney when he was younger and in this au followed more in his footsteps and became a sailor, and eventually captain, instead of a pirate.

Idk why Maxie’s a cowboy other then if Archie’s a pirate in canon then Maxie is a cowboy in this swap scenario

If these were Sygna suits Maxie would have a mudsdale and Archie would have a pelipper
