2023 stamp of Ukraine showing the destroyed Antonov An-225 Mriya rising from the ashes.
The aeroplane was destroyed by the invading russians in the Battle of Antonov Airport in February 2022.
The Mriya was the heaviest aircraft ever built and had largest wingspan of any operational aircraft.

Mriya - Ultrasound vinylshop session (2023/06/16)

The project is expected to cost about $500 million, and financing has yet to be lined up.
The company also said the plane is priceless as a symbol of Ukraine.
But a former engineer at Antonov, Anatoly Vovnyanko, has told Ukrainian media he doesn’t believe the company will ever recoup its outlays through commercial charters. “No one needs it, this Mriya,” Mr. Vovnyanko said. “The money will never be recovered.”

"Do you really think you can threaten me into compliance with mere horses and some sharpened sticks? Cease this absurd provocation or I will turn your woeful excuse of a city into glass." - Abbess Prisca
Prisca is the figurehead of the NORN-1 facility, a subterranean mountain fortress tasked with stewarding spent nuclear fuel until it is rendered inert. She has held onto this position for over 160 years, resolutely preserving the organization's values and consolidating more of its internal power for herself. Even though she's more tubes than flesh at this point, Prisca refuses to retire. No one can be trusted to continue the work that must be done.

Strelka is Ilya's sister. They have a brother as well who I haven't named yet but basically all three are Lahore pigeon style messengers, they work to coordinate the falconers of Kosa, acting as a go-between for the many surrounding villages. Because these villages are usually quite small they usually cannot support falconers of their own (it's extremely resource-intense). But these villages are still very critical on the overall farming/food production side, so instead it's the Kosa flock that travels around depending on need. They require very fast messengers on standby at all times and the doves fill that role. Strelka is the fastest of them, she takes her job very seriously unlike Ilya who was always kinda lazy. The doves are not exactly human-reared - they form their own autonomous flocks within human villages and are (for lack of a better term) "domesticated" (i.e accustomed to living with humans, won't try to kill them). They take work contracts via a trusted human emissary.
Mriya is a human-reared hunting harpy in the Kosa flock. She's a lot like the others; not ''domesticated'' in the sense of the doves, but rather 'tame' in the way of a wild animal that has been imprinted upon a human carer from birth. It means that although she trusts her falconer, she is not exactly nice to him, and cares very little for work contracts or reputations or saving people. She only cares about where her next meal is coming from, and whether she'll get an extra reward if she does well in the next hunt. Lacking any wild harpy socialisation she is a terror to Cuinn at first, ignoring all of his cues and body language, pushing every boundary, stealing his food even, until he finally has enough and decides to start imposing some order on this flock of shrieking children. Mriya is always kinda rough around the edges wherever she goes, at a disadvantage in every situation because she doesn't get wild harpies and she doesn't get humans and it's frustrating! It's constantly frustrating. I got another ask about the human-reared flock so I'm gonna elaborate on them there but yeah she just can't win
re: kings, the birth assignment of any given king is not relevant to their current life, and no distinction is made between a king that was a cob and a king that was a pen. 'king' is a third sex.

I am just so fully sick of russia.
I would say *tired* but the situation is that in Eastern Europe, our countries don’t have the *privilege* to be tired of it. We can’t ever tire, because as soon as we do, that bloody imperially-delusioned-gas-station-sh*thole of an excuse for a country figures another bit of another independent country (that wants bloody nothing to do with russia ever again) is available for grabs. And we cannot tire of helping Ukraine, because they fight for us all. It’s a duty, and one I’m proud of.
The thing is, if I never ever had to hear a single thing about russia again, I’d be entirely happy. I know it’s not likely to happen, but. Honestly. Keep the entire thing, the culture, the arts, I don’t want to hear any of it. I’m not *phobic*, i’m just fully sick of it. Just think of all the stuff we all could be doing, if russia wasn’t a bloodthirsty colonialism and oil powered monster.
Also, to all the negotiations-enthusiasts and peace-callers out there, in the words of Sanna Marin, the PM of Finland, in reply to a journalist asking what “the way out of the conflict” would be: “The way out of the conflict is for Russia to leave Ukraine. That’s the way out of the conflict.”

"Recent images of the sole An-225 Mriya show the aircraft being dismantled, reportedly for storage and eventual repair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The deputy CEO of Antonov, Maksym Sanotskyi, told the German media outlet Deutsche Welle in April 2023 that three of the An-225's six engines were repaired, and two went to the An-124 fleet as spares — something particularly helpful to Ukraine in the ongoing war effort."

At the time, Antonov said there was 'about 30% of components that can be used for the second sample.'

CNN reported Antonov was trying to restore one of the wings, while the Times reported the company was in talks with aviation companies in Europe, the US, and Asia.
'The aircraft will be equipped with modernized engines,' Valerii Kostiuk, an Antonov designer, told CNN in April. 'New electronic on-board equipment will be installed on the plane. Well-known companies will be involved.'
