Crosscode is fun but exposes my failures as a non-gamer.
#also I have gripes with navigation#why quick menu has access to map but the main menu doesn't? why switching between area maps takes quite a long time when there's quests on#area borders and the teleporter is only on one side of it? (also a very barebones location layout would help with navigating their parkour#hell + loot hunt)(also it's hard to judge characters position when them slightly floating is fair game)#but besides that it makes it very clear that me eating shit when I didn't dodge on time or exploit enemy's weakness is fully my fault#and I do like exploring multi-layered multi-screen maps but it's hard to do it with purpose when you don't know your relative position nor#the overall layout#Also I thought Emilie was doing a bit with her heavily ornamental french but after meeting Schneider I feel like it's in earnest.#CrossCode#dumayu#вышедшее из под моего пера

people give all the credit to fontaine for being the “best region” (and they’re not wrong tbh) but why does everyone forget that genshin really started to glow up in sumeru?? like story flow, exploration, multi-layered map, character bursts/gameplay, not to mention the addition of dendro, a whole new element???
granted, sumeru still had plenty of flaws and i’m still not over the fact that they absolutely FUCKED dehya’s shit up so bad (she was the one sumeru character i wanted more than anyone else when it came out) but sumeru was peak in my opinion and im still not over the fact that it’s over. :(
some of my favorite things from sumeru IF you care:
- the relationship progression and teamwork between dehya, cyno and alhaitham. like they all started off super untrusting and unwilling to work with each other but were forced to make it work and ended up making a great team
- the archon quest in general had me so hooked the whole time i loved it (even the annoying ass samsara repetition at the beginning lol)
- Nilou’s burst, gameplay, and design. prettiest character in the whole game imo. (i still wish she had more potential as a dps rather than strictly a bloom/hydro applicator but oh well)
- Nahida’s writing. basically her whole character and development was so good, such a great archon
- literally everything to do with scaramouche/wanderer but if you guys are following me you already know i love him so do i really need to explain?
- absolutely BEAUTIFUL landscape even if it sucks to explore
- coolest looking enemies and bosses in the game i think (especially the eremites like what?? they literally look like they should be playable)
- the music in vorukasha oasis/ basically that whole area in general. the vocals are so pretty i literally stay there for hours just listening to the music, it’s my favorite area in the whole game i go there all the time when im bored
anyways that’s it now it’s y’all’s turn to tell me about your favorite nation and your favorite things in it!!!

it was the multi-layered symbols + parallels in the story & the engine for me...
the heart of the machine is the stories, which is the tardis. spoken by the brain (which encloses the heart)/the doctor (the storyteller+traveller)/the time-travelling. the many faces glued to the brain - some screaming = the many faces of the doctor. the callback to 'we're all just stories in the end'.
the barbershop and the tardis. using hair or the webs of time/history's progression to tell stories. our hair and our histories showing the truth of our personalities in style and story. the story of the slave girls making maps with their hair braids -> making a map to the heart of the machine.
the parallels of the barber to the master in the revenge against the gods/time lords. tecteun stealing their own narrative of the origin of the time lords from the doctor - the time lords only exist through gallifreyans telling their stories. the gods on earth only exist through people on earth web-weaving their stories.
world wide web, we're all connected - stories bring community, the way each culture braids it's hair connects us to each other. we can tell stories with hair and make maps, we can time-travel.
abena's parallel to the doctor. abandoned and trapped with a parent - anansi, tecteun - who does not care for them, failed by everyone else. a child that's used for their own parent's benefit - abena with her father's bet, the doctor with tecteun harnessing regeneration.
the parallels to previous episodes. 'the long song' and 'lux', with gods being overloaded with power, to kill them with their fatal flaw. with 'lux', more emotion made them more three-dimensional - more individual power made the stories play out three-dimensionally in 'the story and the engine'.
the theme of trapped, abandoned children, with the timeless child arc & 'space babies'. the alone little black girl that belinda saw being played by the actress for baby poppy in 'space babies'. a little black girl that didn't really fit into the narrative, but was there nonetheless. the reminder that the doctor was dropped into this universe as a lost little black girl, who never really fitted into the narrative either.
the six-letter stories and the robots of 'the robot revolution' never hearing the seventh word - as if stories don't exist past that point to machines that rely upon chains of commands/binary.
& so much more i probably haven't mentioned. the fucking layers, man <3
i am worshipping u, innua ellams <3

Lancer Tactics devlog
I'm gonna try out posting my ~monthly devlog roundup here as well. These suckers are glorified changelogs with anecdotes and gifs galore. Let me know if this is something you like seeing show up on your dash?
Map Editor
Got units able to be placed/deleted/moved in the mission editor
Can paint/remove command zones in the editor
Can paint minecraft-like terrain blocks in the editor
Can paint/rotate multi-tile props in the editor
Can edit unit character sheets and portrait via the editor
3D maps
Did a bunch of art tests with 3D mech models, provided by GeneralChaos, which we ended up deciding not to go with to keep things simple.
To avoid the can of worms that is animation, we'd have to lean into a static "tabletop minatures" aesthetic which we decided is not a style we want to be stuck with. By sticking with 2D sprites, we avoid falling into a sort of uncanny valley; it's easier to get away with not animating a 2D sprite than it is for a 3D model.
We also experimented with 3D terrain. We decided to make a rule that the visual style for a piece of terrain should match its mechanical effect: obstructing terrain that you can't move through, such as rocks or buildings, will be in 3D, while non-obstructing terrain like trees will stick with 2D sprites.
Hooking up the 3D camera to follow events like movement and attacks did a LOT for making it starting to feel like it's cohering into an Actual Game™
Implemented cover! And an attack preview! Cover works by aiming a ray from the target to the originator (technically to and from each voxel of each, respectively, to handle size 2s shooting above size 1 cover) and tracking all the terrain blocks it hits (how we'll handle non-terrain hard cover TBD). I think I have it working according to Perijove's cover rules manual, but I'm sure there'll be edge cases to work out. This is a case where things are significantly simplified by working in squares instead of hexes; hexes have a lot more possible weird angles you have to deal with.
Re-added what I'm stubbornly calling Combat Popcorn; little bits of text that pop out when you use abilities and attacks.
UI & game screens
Added ability for the engine to show UI that's anchored to the game world via a little word bubble line but also stay on screen as the camera moves around.
Got word bubbles working; you can now write dialogue in the mission editor, hit playtest, and see it work in a mission! (it does actually translate correctly now; this gif is just from a bug I thought was funny)
Got ability effects mostly behaving appropriately again, including muzzle flashes. The easiest way to handle them ended up being NOT billboarding them so they always face the camera (like all other 2D sprites in the game); instead, I put them on a plane parallel with the ground and just spin them around the unit to point at wherever their target is.
Did some work ironing out our tooltip system. The standard in CRPGs these days is this kind of nested labyrinth of tooltops that you see in Baldur's Gate 3:
I Did Not Want to try and figure out how to wrangle that much UI, so we're instead opting to cap the nested tooltips at the second layer. You can lock a general tooltip for e.g. an action and then mouseover various items within that tooltip to get glossary definitions...
...and then instead of having those glossary tips be lockable/mouse-overable themselves, I collect all related terms to that glossary definition and let you tab through them.
Added skin overlay functionality to the portrait maker, enabling textures like scars, tattoos, stubble, and vitiligo to be applied to just the skin and not extend off into space.
Midway through writing this update, Carpenter sent me this gif of the randomization button working! There's a still a bunch of skintones/assets missing and a few are a bit janky, but it was exciting to start seeing the range of these lil freaks (affectionate) that this editor can create.
Mourning cloak license!
This is the one I'm probably most excited about: I did a bit of a content dive and implemented a basic character sheet + all Mourning Cloak traits and equipment. They don't have fancy graphics yet, but the weapons and systems can be added via the character sheet and used in-game.
It took a little under a day, including adding soon-to-be common mechanisms like bonus damage. This is great news in that it means the engine we've been building for so long in the abstract seems to do a great job in handling comprehensive actual game content, and that it looks like we've set ourselves up for success when it comes time to buckle down on churning that out.
I'm sure other licenses will come with unique difficulties (I fear the day it comes time to do the Mule Harness // Goblin CP) but I'm feeling good about it!
Vertical slice?
Taking a step back, the pressing question on my mind has been "when will we have a playable early access build?"
I was originally hoping for Feb/March, but what we've internally been referring to as the "3D cataclysm" has pushed everything back by at least three months, so the target for the first alpha build is now in May. So, ah, thanks for your patience! Seeing things come together, I've become more and more convinced that moving to 3D was the right call.

⸻⸻ ﹕ HALLOWEEN SPECIAL ⠀ › ⠀ THE PHANTOM MANOR.
❝ WALTZ WITH THE DEAD, ESCAPE THE LIVING ! ❞
❝ ENTER THE EERIE WORLD OF PHANTOM MANOR, glasshouse’s most thrilling and immersive halloween event to date. as the gates of the ivy-covered mansion swing open, you’re drawn into its haunted corridors, where shadows whisper secrets, and every room reveals a chilling story. from dancing with ghosts in the grand ballroom to cracking a sinister murder mystery, this isn’t your typical haunted house. glasshouse idols become spirits and suspects, pulling you deeper into their twisted tale. can you make it through the night, or will you join the manor’s haunted legacy? ❞
PHANTOM MANOR is an intricate, multi-layered halloween event designed by glasshouse to immerse fans in a haunted, interactive experience. the venue is set in a sprawling, gothic-style mansion with an ivy-covered exterior, old stone walls, and creaky iron gates. the estate is purposefully designed to resemble an eerie, abandoned manor, complete with cobwebs, flickering lights, and antique furniture.
as fans enter the PHANTOM MANOR, they walk through various haunted rooms and halls, each with a different eerie atmosphere. glasshouse idols dressed as spirits, ghosts, or cursed characters play out their roles, interacting with fans throughout their journey. some idols simply watch from the shadows, while others jump-scare, guide, or distract you.
the key attractions are as follows:
01. THE HAUNTED BALLROOM ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ — the main performance space where idols reenact haunting waltzes. guests are sometimes invited to dance, only to realise their partners may be ghosts.
02. THE GHOSTLY LIBRARY ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ — visitors can roam the dusty aisles while idols play long-dead scholars, whisper chilling tales or offer cryptic clues to solve the overarching mysteries.
03. THE SÉANCE ROOM ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ — a séance is conducted by some idols acting as mediums, and fans experience frightening supernatural effects, like ghostly apparitions, flickering candles, and moving objects.
one of the core events at PHANTOM MANOR is MURDER MYSTERY NIGHT, a life-sized cluedo reenactment in which fans must solve a murder within the mansion.
❝ a mysterious death has occurred in the manor, and fans are invited to play detectives to figure out the identity of the killer, the weapon, and the location of the murder. each room of the mansion ( the conservatory, the dining hall, the study, etc. ) contains clues related to the crime. glasshouse idols portray key suspects, such as the butler, heiress, or eccentric guests, giving cryptic hints and misleading information. they will lead fans to hidden rooms, locked doors, or secret passages. guests are split into teams, and the group that solves the mystery first wins exclusive prizes. those who fail may experience additional "haunted" consequences, such as getting trapped in rooms or dealing with heightened scares. ❞
while the murder mystery was happening, fans who could not attend were offered to participate in a different event simultaneously. they were given another map showing the blueprints of the manor, and together, they'd have to escape the twisted maze of clues and jumpscares to get certain rewards or prizes.
in the manor's grand hallways, portraits of long-lost residents ( played by idols ) hang ominously. at times, these portraits come to life as the idols step out from the frames to interact with guests, blurring the line between art and reality. guests are tasked with identifying which portraits hold hidden clues to escape the house.
the underground crypt is one of the event’s most challenging areas in the basement. fans are locked in a crypt-like maze with idols playing the roles of ancient spirits and undead beings. to escape, participants must solve puzzles and riddles hidden in the crypt’s dark recesses, all while avoiding encounters with the idols playing the roles of guardians of the crypt. failure to escape means facing the crypt’s final curse—a jump-scare-loaded finale.
fans who successfully navigate specific challenges, either by solving the murder mystery or escaping the crypt, receive exclusive glasshouse merchandise, event-related memorabilia, and potential meet-and-greets with the artists.

flight suit ;)
filled with insulating cloth layers from the cutting edge of materials technology from the 1910s. it's clumsy on the ground but exactly what you need in the air when travelling at speed. it incorporates a neck brace and an early attempt at a multi-point restraint system. there's a clip on the thigh which can be used to hold route plans, maps, weather reports, or any other information someone might need to refer to mid-flight
i wanted an old timey feel but couldn't get behind leather armour or flowing cloths. the radio array extends beyond the saddle and anchors at a loop

seeing your clowns made me go feral since my fixation is cringe and clown flavored
Who let you cook like that who let you cook AUTHHFFH UR ART IS SO COOL IM BEING DRAGGED AWAY
You’re hatching is so fucking inspiring since it’s soMETHING I try to do in my own work I LOVE UR ART
would it be fine to ask what brushes you use? I love ur values also, you’re so so good at shapes and form WAAAA I LOVE UR STUFF. I did dig up an old ask you made iirc, but I’m not sure if it’s changed
Hey! Thank you very much. I'll go through the brushes I use for each program: Drawpile
From what I understand most of these are MyPaint brushes... but I only know them as drawpile brushes because that's what I use. Main ones I've used lately is Irregular Ink and a default brush for coloring
I don't really change the size of irregular ink much and the pressure doesn't matter that much. It has high stabilization which I haven't changed, but I'm sure you could get away with lowering it. For the other brush I'm pretty sure it's a default one that I slightly tweaked (drawpile is a bit bad about communicating what brush exactly you are using to you.) I quite like it because it feels like playing with clay, makes it easy to map out the volume. I use it for those lineless pieces I do from time to time too. I change its size a lot while drawing. I've also used these two, one of the pencil brushes and a second one I stole from Jokioro that I have no idea what is called
I used the first one for the D'arce I did a while ago and the recent VTMB piece. It's great at emulating sketchy graphite pencils, I like layering it to do multi-colored hatching rendering. The second one I don't know how to use super well yet but it's probably my fourth most used as of late. It works very weirdly so if you wanna figure out how to make it work I recommend looking at how Jokioro draws. Clip Studio I bounce around a lot with all the brushes, but I use a loooot of stuff from the Frenden pack. Mainly Meeko Leako for lining and even coloring, it has a great texture to it, very fun
This has been my most used brush for years. It's great for super straight lines and produces a great difference in value between quick lines and thick lines. I haven't used it as much since I picked up drawpile more recently, but it's amazing! Other than that I use the default G-pen when I just want simple lines without much texture
It's a bit ugly at a glance but I think if you lock in it's great for super clean lines, just trying to get the point across without much noise. I also like coloring with it at times, when I'm going lineless. SAI Binary pen. Use the binary pen. It's the best brush ever made
It just feels super right to draw with it, it's so simple but it makes your lines look super slick, and it's just a binary pen. I guess they just got the behavior down perfect for it. But yeah, love this brush. IRL I've always used these archival ink pens in different sizes for basically everything I've done traditionally, and of course just a simple number 2 pencil for sketching and such. I've used a bit of charcoal recently, and been wanting to deep into darker pencils for detail, but this is still the default. I also will probably try out dip pens sometime

That's all I can think of immediately, but I always like to mess around to try and find another great brush, and you should do the same even if you end up using these a lot.

So-called motorcylists love to shove their beloved bikes away whenever there's a little bit of snow on the road. That's because motorcyclists are famously concerned with their public perception. They don't want to drive around town with wood screws run through their tires, shrieking profanities at stopped traffic before ripping a perfect 12 'o' clocker and driving across the iced-over multi-use-pathway, comfortable in their knowledge that the police will not and can not follow. Or it's because they don't have heated grips, and their handsies get cold.
Heated steering wheels are the single greatest innovation in cars in the last two hundred years. Unfortunately for me, they hadn't been installed into cars of the age I own. In the late 1970s, the newest innovation in steering wheel comfort was "maybe make them a little smaller, for the ladies." Seems like I was cursed to a lifetime of wondering if my thermostat was seized, freezing to death even through many layers of mittens and work gloves while waiting for the tow truck to arrive and clean up the commuters in front of me.
Of course, Plymouth also didn't equip this car with a lot of other modern features. For instance, liquid-cooled active speed laser and radar jamming was not available. Active pursuit drones pre-programmed with a seek-and-destroy order for all speed cameras were not yet on the market, unless you worked for the CIA. And also the good people of China had not figured out how to make $35 45-millimetre ball-bearing turbochargers capable of adding nearly four hundred horsepower to any engine strong enough to keep its guts on the inside when presented with one medium-sized jet engine's worth of boost. I had to add all those things myself.
Easy, right? Run some wires to a heating element on the steering wheel. There's just one complication: steering wheels turn. If I keep spinning the car left and right, eventually the wire will get tangled up and rip itself out, causing an electrical fire. Admittedly, that will also keep my hands warm, but the walk home after is inconvenient.
The original "engineers" who took a whisky-soaked gander at this car before slapping their secretaries on the ass had a solution, though. In every steering wheel, the horn button has the same problem. Unfortunately for me, the horn hasn't worked in this car since 1983, which complicated my attempts to reuse the wiring.
Ultimately, I came up with what a rocket scientist would call "a compromise." A pair of bolt cutters and a map to the local truck-supply warehouse's storage yard soon provided me with a nifty diesel-fired interior heater, a roaring flame that consumes all and produces enough heat to make toast from three feet away. Ratchet-strapped to the place where the passenger seat used to be, it will keep my fingers warm, as well as my feet and every other part of my body. Sure, it's inconvenient having to continually refill it with stolen farm diesel, and I could have run the exhaust pipe out of the cabin a better way than through the rust hole in the floor. Once you get that heated seat feeling, though, you simply can't go back. If you'll excuse me, I need to get going: if I don't get to work in the next five minutes, my boots will melt again.

Ivy's Survive the Apocalypse list.
If you're following the news, you're scared. Or you should be. Things are getting worse, not better. And they wont stop with the most marginalized of us; if you're not rich, you're nothing to them except labor.
I've been worried about current events, world news, and continental politics for a while now; at least 1 year. That's when I started packing my Go-Bags. It occurs to me now that my skills as a veteran would be useful for other LGBTQIAS2+, so I've decided to tell you what I deemed necessary in an emergency Bug Out Bag. See below.
(For the love of the Gods, please let this one get tumblr famous!!)

Next, you're going to want something to help lug all your gear. I present to you: The Monowalker!

It's not hard to build one out of pallets and a wheelbarrow wheel. Just use two long 1x1s to run from your hands to the wheel in a triangle, screw some spacers along the way back, and put an axle through the point of the v. If someone wants pictures I can get them. I am opening up my asks for this purpose.

How To Convert Eyelashes
I was asked to make a tutorial on converting eyelashes. Well, here it is. Dirty, badly explained tutorial by Rollo. I'm assuming you know how to work with required programs, it won't teach you the basics, just a process of converting eyelashes from ts4 to ts3.
Requirements:
S4Studio
s3pe
TSR Workshop
Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter
These files (full credit goes to @gruesim)
Graphical program that works with .dds files
Let's go:
Open the desired lashes in S4Studio. Export diffuse of the ones you want to convert (you only need the black ones). You can also export the thumbnail. Close the program.
2. Unzip the folder that you downloaded from this tutorial. You will find a .dds files called "sclub eyelash". Open it up in the graphical program. Make a black layer above it and hide it for now.
3. Now open up your ts4 eyelashes file. Start from the upper eyelash, crop it and go to the sclub eyelash.
4. Paste it, click ctrl+i, it will make ts4 eyelash white.
5. This is the worst part. You have to make the ts4 eyelash fit to the sclub one as close as possible. Use every method possible!
6. Unhide the black layer and see if your eyelash look alright. It may need some sharpening.
7. Now crop the bottom eyelash and follow the exact same steps as for the upper eyelash.
8. It should look more or less like this. Bottom eyelashes are always harder to adjust and may need even more sharpening.
9. Merge your upper and bottom eyelashes, duplicate the layer. Click ctrl+a, ctrl+t, then right mouse button and choose "Flip Horizontal".
10. Voila. You should have a complete set of your new shiny eyelashes! Save them as .dds. You can close the program. We're moving to TSR Workshop.
11. New Project -> New Import. Import Eyelashes AFBase from the downloaded folder.
12. Name your project, name your file and click "Next".
13. You should see this. Go to Texture tab and click "Edit" on the Transparency Map.
14. Import your eyelashes and click "Yes" when asked.
15. You should see your lashes, yay! But this is TSRW, they won't look exactly the same in game, as they look here. If you want a set of eyelashes, add more presets.
16. Now this is important. If you want to see your eyelashes in Accessories, go to Project tab, Clothing Type and change it from eyeliner to glasses. You also have to do this if you have more than one preset in one file. They won't show up in Eyeliner section. If you want to have set of eyelashes in Eyeliner category, you have to make each preset into seperate file. Also, eyelashes are recolorable ONLY in Accessories section. Don't forget to check Categories section to see which outfit has the eyelashes available.
17. Now you're ready to export your file! Export -> To Sims3Pack. Use the Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter to convert your sims3pack to package file. We're moving to s3pe.
18. THESE STEPS ARE ESSENTIAL! Open up your shiny new package in s3pe. Click on the GEOM with the right mouse button.
19. Click Replace and choose AUID.simgeom from the downloaded folder. AUID is for adults, CUID for kids and PUID for toddlers. We have one more step to do.
20. Now click on the CASP normally (left mouse button) and click Grid on the bottom of the program.
21. A small pop up window appears. Scroll to the very bottom and find a line called OverlayPriority.
22. Change the 8 to 2. This will make eyelashes not being visible through hair that's covering eyes.
23. Save your package. You're ready to test your converted eyelashes in game!
Here they are. Nothing fancy, it was a quick conversion :D They're also compatible with S-Club eyelash sliders ^^
Btw, you don't necessarily have to convert both upper and bottom eyelashes. You can have upper or bottom only. Play with the lenght, not all eyelashes have to be very long. Convert it for males, kids, toddlers. You just have to remember to change the options in TSRW and replace the correct .simgeom file in s3pe. There is a lot of possibilities and you'll probably get better in this than me :D
Good luck! ♥

could you do a hunting gear haul of all the stuff you use for the dogs, like the reflective vests that you use and collars and such. I don't know what reflective vest I should buy for my dog and am wondering what a hunter uses.
The vests are old Ruffwear Track Jackets, they are not made anymore but you can still find them in ruffwear resale groups on facebook and sites like ebay. The newer version Ruffwear has is more bulky. A lot of hunters use vests made by a guy called Larry Riel, he does stuff the old fashioned way, you gotta call him and send a check.
The collars I have are 1.5" reflective biothane with name plates riveted on. I do not use dangly tags when hunting, they just get ripped off. I buy most of my hunting dog collars from Outdoor Dog Supply and Double U Supply.
You can use whatever leash, always have one with you.
My dogs also wear Garmin Alpha GPS collars. I have the Alpha 100 and TT15Mini collars. I like being able to use the tone when my dogs are out of sight or hearing for recall. If you want a Garmin GPS but don't want ecollar functions (which are customizable) you could get an Astro instead. I have birdseye, property types, terrain, trails, and road maps installed on my handheld. Be very careful buying these used, don't get them from some random guy on facebook as most of the time that is a scam. Buy from a Garmin authorized reseller for used and refurbished units. Most of them run black friday deals on Alpha and Astro units and collars.
GPS is not necessary to hunt with, I just strongly prefer to have it because I hunt on small tracts of land and like to know exactly where my dogs are.
You can use a cheap blaze orange shirt, hoodie, hat, or vest from walmart and as long as you've got the minimum required amount of blaze for your state you'll be good. You can carry squirrels in any kind of bag or pack, you do not need specialized equipment for that but it does make it easier.
The first vest I used was a Browning Upland vest I got for cheap on sale somewhere online. It's got pockets for carrying shells and game, but did not have a waist belt, was kinda bulky, and got warm quickly. This is a very common style of vest and you can find them for much cheaper than this one is new.
The vest I use currently is an older Orvis Pro Upland vest. I got this on sale too, I almost never pay full price for hunting stuff. They have a couple other models, and lots of other companies make these too. The problem I have with mine (and a few others I've tried) is they are too big even in the small size, and getting a vest that actually fits me from a company that makes products for smaller people and women is ridiculously expensive, so I just deal with it.
Most of my smaller hunting gear fits in this vest. Binoculars, leash, spare battery for the GPS, a headlamp, water bottle, multi-tool, snacks, and ammunition.
Boots, boots are very important. Wear something comfortable that is built for the terrain you'll be hunting in. During the earlier season or if it's not too cold and there's not a lot of water or snow, I wear my Merrell Moab hiking boots. I occasionally wear a pair of gaiters if I'm hunting a really brushy area, but only with the hiking boots. Once it's cold, snowy, or really wet, I wear muck boots, usually my Arctic Pros.
My favorite brand of socks are Darn Tough, I wear those for everything. They are worth what you pay for them and have a lifetime guarantee.
If you have to wear gloves, be sure you get something with good grip. A warm pair of gloves is useless if you can't hold anything. Since my shotgun is a pump I really need good grippy gloves to cycle a new round. I often just wear my mountain biking gloves from HandUp.
Since I hunt brushy and thorny areas, I wear brush pants. I have a fancy-ass pair from First Lite that are *extremely* comfortable, but they do not go over my mucks and are not good for very cold temperatures without a base layer or two. They are great for warm season hunting though. I recently got a pair of Duluth briar pants and they are my new favorite, but I cant find them on the website at the moment.
Brush pants are another very common item that you can get cheaply from other makers and are frequently on sale. You can also just use a thick pair of work pants, I hunted in double front carhartts for a couple years. Chaps are another option.
I use a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge fixed modified pump action shotgun and steel #6 small game shot. (A lot of words, I know.) You can use many different firearms, and some states allow you to use air rifles too. A friend I hunt with is a big fan of his Benjamin Marauder. I've seen people use slingshots, archery, and even hawks. Check your regulations to see what is legal and pick something you are comfortable with.
I accumulated my gear over time and either inherited it, bought used, or on sale. I've been hunting for 10 years now, when I first started all I had was my hiking stuff, shotgun, and a blaze hat. Hunting is only complicated and expensive if you make it.

Multi-Layered Map? We Hear You! Developers Discussion - 06/20

Dear Traveler,
The newest Developers Discussion has arrived~ We'd like to share all the optimizations that will be released soon as well as some plans that are already in the works. Let's take a look!
As the story progresses, Travelers will discover and explore underground regions. During these moments, they might find themselves lost and uncertain as to which way they should go. As such, we will introduce the Multi-Layered Map function in Version 4.0. Now, everyone can use the Map to gain more concise details regarding whether they are in a new or unlocked area.
Certain areas might be complex in terrain and encompass multiple layers. Travelers can switch across these layers in the Map when the time comes to better view the area.
(*This is under development and is not indicative of the final product.)
The developers are also following up on the overall experience offered by the Quest system. First, we would like to share with everyone the optimizations coming in Version 3.8:
· Quest-tracking optimizations: When the objective is a certain distance from a Traveler's current position, they can click Navigate to open the Map and orient themselves.
(*This is under development and is not indicative of the final product.)
·Persistent tracking support for Daily Commissions
After the Version 3.8 update, Travelers will automatically track their next Commission Quest based on distance and other factors after completing their current Commission Quest.
· When the Hangout Events come to an end, you will gain the "Review Invitation" button in the Hangout Memory menu which will allow you to view the narrative checkpoints.

(*This is under development and is not indicative of the final product.)
· Quest menu display optimizations: Adjusted the sorting rules for certain Quests and optimized how red dots are displayed.
After the Version 3.8 update, red dots will be displayed more intuitively and conveniently for Quests. At the same time, the rules for sorting the Archon Quests or certain other Quests will be optimized, allowing Travelers to discover their objectives faster.

(*This is under development and is not indicative of the final product.)
Aside from the coming optimizations, the concerns that everyone mentioned regarding Quest Characters being occupied and the complexity of prerequisite quests' completion priority have been noted by the development team. They are currently discussing the necessary optimization plans, and we would like to first share our thoughts with everyone:
· Currently, the occupied quest indications are rather simplistic. Travelers might need to additionally track and sort through related quests.
Developers therefore decided to plan to add a more detailed redirection guide for the affected quests in the quest menu to help Travelers to resolve their occupied quests.
Additionally, we also noticed that Travelers may unlock multiple Story Quests concurrently to use up their Story Keys, resulting in a build up of quests and creating interconnected preoccupations between them. To deal with this situation, the developers plan to separate the unlocking and accepting sections of a Story Quest into two steps. After the adjustments, after unlocking the Story Quest, Travelers will no longer automatically accept them, thereby preventing Travelers from wasting any keys while also preventing the inter-quest congestion.
Aside from the considered optimizations we mentioned above, the development team will continue to develop an overall iterative plan to deal with the preoccupation issue, in the hopes of providing a smoother questing experience for everyone.
· Travelers will successively unlock many different stories along their adventure. We have also noticed the "too many prerequisite quests causing people to not know where to start" issue mentioned by Travelers.
The developers are currently working on optimizing issues brought on the multi-stage nature of prerequisite quests. We plan to plot out the current prerequisite quest's completion process in a pop-up window display. This way, Travelers can be more efficiently redirected to the prerequisite quests they haven't completed yet.
These are the quest and Map system optimizations we would like to announce for now. Not long ago, the "Divine Ingenuity: Collector's Chapter" event was released. During this time, we also discovered many interesting Custom Domains created by the community, and also heard the calls for "making time-limited events permanent." Here, we would like to take the opportunity and chat with everyone regarding our thoughts about Permanent Gameplay modes:
For certain Genshin Impact gameplay events, the development team has already considered the possibility of making them permanent fixtures during the inception of their development. However, based on our evaluations, certain gameplay events are not fleshed out enough in terms of content to support the long-term gameplay experience for everyone. We will combine the feedback from our Travelers regarding event gameplay for future iterations and will release new permanent gameplay options at the right time.
In the future, the development team will continue to plan more permanent content. We hope to bring more interesting experiences for our Travelers.
That's all for this Developers Discussion. Travelers, do you have anything else you wish to learn about? We will continue to interview the development team and share our details with everyone as soon as possible.
If you have any thoughts or feedback, you can also send them to us through channels within and outside of the game~
