Appropriately enough, I’m going on vacation myself tomorrow. And now, I give you…

Launchpad’s Week Off

“I still can’t believe that Mr. McDuck gave you the week off!” Drake exclaimed. “This is so exciting.”

“Oh, I know,” agreed Launchpad. “Just what we need-a relaxing week at the beach.”

“How long is it gonna be for us to get there?” Gosalyn asked.

“Nine hours, give or take,” Drake told her. “But I promise you, it’s going to be worth the wait.”

“Awesome!” grinned Gosalyn. “Not the long drive, of course. No offense to Duckburg, but you can only look at the pier area so many times before you get tired of it.”

“Fair point,” Launchpad noted. “Plus, even we need a little distance from the chaos once in a while.”

“Alright,” Drake said. “Looks like we’re all packed. Let’s go!”

The Mallard-McQuacks left for their trip fairly early in the morning, so that would hopefully get them to their destination by late afternoon. Of course, in all the planning, Drake had forgotten to account for…

“…morning traffic,” he grumbled. “Of course.”

“This is gonna take us ages to get out of!” groaned Gosalyn.

“Hey, cheer up, you two,” Launchpad persuaded. “It’s not so bad.”

“Really?” Gosalyn asked. “Can you use your crazy driving skills to get us out of this mess?”

“Driving on city streets is a lot different from driving on the highway, Gosalyn,” Drake reminded her. “Besides, Duckburg is just…well, it’s different from other cities.”

“He’s right,” Launchpad agreed. “So for now, we just gotta roll with it.”

Well, every once in a while, the car did gradually move forward. But not by much. Gosalyn decided to just put in her earbuds and play a game on her phone to pass the time. The slow passage of time was even getting to Drake.

“Let’s see-nope. No new e-mails.”

“Babe, that’s the third time you’ve checked your e-mails,” Launchpad noted.

“I’m sorry,” Drake responded. “It’s just all this traffic. Can’t it go any faster?”

“Traffic goes only as fast as it wants to go,” Launchpad told his boyfriend. “It’ll thin out soon. I guarantee it.”

About 20 minutes later, traffic started thinning out, and the car really began moving again.

“Alright!” Drake exclaimed. “Let’s see-we lost about an hour in all that, but we could still get there before…6.”

That was the usual dynamic the superhero duo/couple had when it came to driving-Launchpad was the driver, Drake manned the GPS. Gosalyn-well, she just let them do their thing. She took a break from her game, and just took to staring out the window, other cars passing by, Muse playing through her earbuds. She wondered what it would be like if Launchpad really could maneuver through all those other vehicles on the highway. Was it possible? Probably not. But a girl whose dad’s boyfriend was an insanely brilliant pilot/chauffeur could dream.

Eventually, several hours, several miles of highway, one lunch stop, and one gas refill later, they made it to their destination.

It was a nice little beach house, not exactly a shack, but not overly fancy, either. It was just off of the main drag along the coast, which was convenient.

Drake checked his watch. “5:24. Could be worse.”

“Well, the important thing is, we’re here,” Launchpad put in.

“Finally!” whooped Gosalyn. “Let’s check this place out.”

They quickly got their bags out of the car, and made their way inside.

“Well, this is nice,” Launchpad remarked.

“It’s cute,” Drake added.

“Keen gear,” Gosalyn finished. “I like the digs.”

It took a bit of time to get the two bedrooms set up, but by the time they were done, the three of them were starving.

“Well, since we’re at the beach, I think it’d be appropriate to get seafood our first night here,” Launchpad suggested. “Apparently, there’s a place not too far from here. We could easily just walk.”

“Then ice cream, possibly?” Drake posed, knowing what his daughter’s answer would be.

“Yes,” agreed Gosalyn. “Also, are we gonna have time for the beach tonight? I really want to check that out, too.”

“Alright, alright,” Drake replied. “The sun doesn’t set until after 8, so we won’t be bumping into anything.”

“Dad,” commented Gosalyn. “It’s not like there’s a huge risk of that happening, considering beaches are flat. Mostly.”

Launchpad sighed. “Let’s just go and find some food,” he chuckled.

Well, it was nice to have some time off. He, Drake, and Gosalyn certainly needed it. He couldn’t wait to see how the rest of it would go.

Her stomach turns a somersault, nausea hitting her like a hurricane.

Negaduck is not here for Quiverwing Quack, kid hero. He’s not here for Darkwing Duck, not here to do dumb crimes and get attention or destroy things hoping for glory. He’s not here to play cat-and-mouse.

This is Negaduck, the man that nearly murdered Drake and Launchpad. The actor scorned, who swore to destroy Drake Mallard if it was the last thing he ever did. The one who swore to destroy her too, if she ever stood in his way. This is a man blinded by hate with nothing left to lose. This is Negaduck and he wants her dead.

three h/cs you've never told anyone: (ive probably said these already)

kira's first victims were three school bullies she maliciously planned on killing prior to becoming a vampire. they were three girls her same age that tormented her for years prior. she was encouraged by her father before he passed to pick someone who she truly hated and channel all that rage and hunger that comes with the transformation into killing someone she thought deserved to die in order to curb the inherent need to target one's family or loved ones. in hindsight, they weren't evil. they were just bullies that made her life a living hell because they had no sense of control in their constantly changing homelife. however, 13-year-old kira could not distinguish that. she saw three mean girls who pretended they liked her only to neg her, insult all aspects of her identity, attempted to use her to do their homework, promised to show her all the pop culture and conventional beauty techniques she was missing out on, and ghosted her... and she thought that was enough to inflict creative violence. she took one's eyes, another their jaw, and the last one, their heart.

while kira's dad is essentially dracula, our dracula is a composite of many different dracula stories. the most central of which are: nbc's dracula (the inventor), young dracula (the father), dracula untold (the war hero), van helsing (god's nemesis), bram stoker's dracula (the plague and the forbidden love), and castlevania lords of shadow (the devil's nemesis). he is all these things, and very tired. he's also a slut, and I will accept that kira has distant siblings by other dracula brides or cousins from other sides of the family. its just her all alone in her side of the world since in many verses cillian is stuck in a different dimension or tragically dead.

Kira's not against the idea of something like a symbiote or a parasite living in her body and sapping some of her strength in exchange for giving her abilities. It's when there's the possibility that it'll change her blood chemistry permanently or take over her mind and transform her into something that's no longer her anymore but one with something else and doomed to serve something else that she's completely put off. It's not worth the power or the community and she would rather walk alone as an anomaly and turn her own fledglings than deal with something ancient with backwards values.

Fobwatched Timelord!Gyro Gearloose - His Fob is in the possession of either FOWL or Akita, I haven't decided. He's my AU Gyro so he's a successful tech CEO while Mark Beaks is the head of R&D for McDuck Industries but Gyro is still amiable with the McDucks and holds no ill will for being fired by the Board.

Time Agent!Drake Mallard - Former Time Agent who dipped when people started being murdered. Fled to earth and became an actor, adopted a child, and still does his vigilante shit as "The Darkwing". Requirements for being a Time Agent are 'himbo' and 'low self-preservation'. He possibly has Sontaran DNA cause he's still mostly indestructible.

Timelord!Gladstone Gander - Gladstone was raised on earth with the rest of the Duck-McDuck family and like them has Timelord DNA. But he didn't know about that until during the "House of the Lucky Gander" episode, where he was drained dry of his supernatural luck and regenerated for the first time.

Persona 4/5 Verse

Drake Mallard and Jim Starling are twins that attend Shujin Acadamy as transfer students. Their parents divorced when they were still toddlers, and Drake's mom changed hers and Drake's surname to her maiden name after the split, each parent taking one of the boys. They are identical twins with blond hair and blue eyes. But they have the same personalities as their 91' cartoon counterparts.

Princapal Kobayakawa has convinced Drake to look into the Phantom Theives rumors as he is an up and coming detective, not unlike Goro Akechi. Jim is a thug that got into Shujin because his dad is loaded and has a lot of money that Kobayakawa is hoping to get a generous donation of.

Digimon Cyberslueth

Jim Mallard, Negaduck in EDEN, is the leader of a malicious Hacking group called The Fearsome Five. They are contracted and do a lot of shady work for Rie Kishibe.

His brother Drake, however, is a cyber detective working with their distant cousin Gorou Matayoshi. Darkwing dislikes hacking, but has a Digimon partner for the sake of his job.

I recently spent a serene morning by a local pond, where I had the pleasure of observing a group of Mallard ducks. Their vibrant colors and social interactions were truly a sight to behold. Here are some highlights from my peaceful morning with these beautiful birds. 🦆✨
