Chapter 23

Fandom: Percy Jackson and the Olympians / Heroes of Olympus

Summary: Percy dies in battle.  A very tragic death that wasn’t at all lame, thank you. Unfortunately, the gods aren’t done with him yet. Instead of waking up in Charon’s waiting room as he should, Percy wakes up in the courtyard of Hotel Valhalla.  Thinking things can’t possibly get worse he runs to Carter Kane for help. In hindsight, that probably wasn’t the best idea he’d ever had.

Chapter Preview

Once we find Percy and T.J., which includes a lot of muttering between Magnus and Alex about Percy's mussed hair, we make our way down the World Tree and into Midgard. I'm getting used to making this trip, and like it a whole lot more than I like portal travel. Though honestly I'd rather just rebuild Festus or take the Argo II anywhere I needed to go.

But whatever, it isn't wrong until we get back to Blitzen's forge. This time the little shop he has for himself is closed though if you peak inside you can see that it is filled to the brim with familiar faces. At least if you are involved with the same friend group I am.

Chapter 15: Home Again

Notes: I know this one is a little short but I'm juggling too much and real life stress has been picking on my muse so I wanted to get this out.

I have a little bit left to write for this pair but am unsure about writing some smut for them. LMK what you think.

Warnings: swearing, fluff

The next morning Y/N was woken up by Winnie softly patting her face and babbling "MaaaMaaa."

She opened her eyes and Winnie laughed, making her smile. "Hi sweet girl."

Winnie clapped and Y/N noticed the smell of bacon and coffee wafting into the room. She sat up and changed Winnie, picking her up before moving into the living room where she could see Bucky in the kitchen cooking, singing and dancing which made Winnie laugh and bounce in her arms.

The sound of laughter made Bucky stop still and spin around to see his girls, his entire world, watching him. He would never let them out of his sight again.

"Good morning doll. Princess Winnie. Breakfast is almost ready."

Y/N smiled. Her heart felt so full after the terror of the last couple of days chasing Steve around, she had her baby girl back in her arms and the best man she could ever ask for in the kitchen, making breakfast for them.

They laughed and joked while they ate, both carrying lighter hearts. Together with their little family was home, no matter where they were.

After breakfast she took Winnie for a bath and ended up soaked from Winnie playing in the water so just climbed into the tub with her.

She took her time washing her daughter's hair and paid close attention to finger and toe nails, tickling Winnie until she squealed. They played with rubber duckies, The Avengers set. Winnie's favorite was Thor and Y/N's favorite was obviously the Winter Soldier.

Bucky came to check on them after hearing Winnie screaming in delight. He laughed when he saw them both soaked and covered in bubbles, laughing joyously.

"Did you need any help in here, doll? You're making a bit of a mess."

She looked up at him smiling "I don't know Jamie, think you can fit in this bathtub, too?" And giggled.

Bucky smiled "I'm not sure that's a good idea. Why don't I just rinse off this little princess so you can finish cleaning yourself up."

Winnie put her arms up, smiling at him "Upupupup, Bubu, upup!"

He grabbed a towel and picked her up "Come on princess, we'll let mama finish her bath." He dressed her up and brushed her hair before adding a ribbon.

Y/N quickly finished cleaning up and dressed herself.

Once they had cleaned the place up they loaded into the quinjet to return home. Finally.

As they walked into her house that evening, they heard poppers and party horns. Pepper, Morgan, Sam, Sarah, Cass, A.J., Shuri, Ayo and Val were waiting for them and a welcome home banner stretched across the vaulted ceiling. Food from Y/N's favorite restaurant was set up on the kitchen counter.

Bucky put Winnie into her high chair and gave her some pasta and bread to eat then sat next to her and pulled Y/N onto his lap and started feeding her.

Sam sat at the table across from them and rolled his eyes "You two need to get a room." followed by gagging sounds.

He became serious for a moment

"Our Steve is alright, a bit dehydrated and shook up but will be fine." He looked at his hands "He would like to meet his daughter but won't do anything unless it's ok with you."

Y/N shook her head "I don't know Sam. I know he didn't do this but we're gonna need a minute. He did leave me and-" she paused. "I don't know."

Bucky gently rubbed her back in quiet support.

Sam nodded "I understand. Don't beat yourself up if you can't do it. He made his bed. I gave you the message and will drop it now."

He looked at Winnie's butter covered face "Hey my little Winn-girl. Is that good food?"

Winnie laughed and nodded, reaching for him with sticky hands "Saaaaaa!"

He picked her up "Let's get you cleaned up Winn-girl." and took her into the bathroom.

Y/N turned to look at Bucky and smiled, feeling her face heat up at how he still affected her. Sitting in his lap was definitely doing something and she tried not to move around too much but being this close, wrapped up in his arms made her all kinds of hot.

She felt her panties moisten and froze wondering if he would smell that. On one hand, it was a little scary to think of him knowing what he did to her but on the other hand, him being able to smell her arousal to know her that intimately without her needing to say a word, was turning her on more.

Bucky cleared his throat and everyone quieted, he looked around to see everyone watching him and had to push down his fear. He picked her up as he stood, carefully set her back down in the chair and went down one knee.

Y/N stared at him, wide eyed and heart racing.

Bucky pulled a small box out of his pocket and gave her a lopsided grin. "Y/N" he spoke softly and looked in her eyes "I have been in love with you since the day we met, never met anyone so incredible. Caring and loyal, smart and stubborn, beautiful and strong. You are everything I could ever want and the last few days have driven home how fragile it all is. I don't want to wait any longer to start our life together." He looked at her hopefully "Marry me?"

Y/N felt like she couldn't get any words out so started nodding enthusiastically as tears ran down her face before she could finally get it out "YES! Yes James. I will marry you."

She had forgotten there were other people there and was snapped out of her daze when she heard clapping, laughing and yelling. She looked around and smiled at their friends.

Bucky had a difficult time putting the ring on her shaking hands while his were almost as shaky. When it was in place Y/N put her hand up to look at the ring, a vintage style, 1 carat sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds, and sighed.

"It's beautiful James"

Bucky grinned "Nowhere near as beautiful as you are doll." He pulled her close, whispering in her ear

"and all mine."

She shivered at the images those three words invoked, wrapping her hands up in his hair and kissed him with everything she had before pulling back, panting. She pulled on his hair and grinned when she heard his quiet whimper

"I am yours, James, always but you better not forget that you are mine. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone."

She kissed him and nipped at his lower lip, making him growl.

"Careful doll."

Y/N flashed a huge smile at him and whispered back "I'm not scared of you, sarge."

He squeezed her hip and groaned "Later sweetheart, I hope you're ready for me." His nostrils flared and he smirked "Sure smells like you are."

She felt her face heat up and hoped he couldn't tell.

Sam brought Winnie to them while Pepper popped a bottle of champagne and handed out full glasses to everyone starting with Y/N and Bucky.

Winnie laughed and cheered along until Bucky gave her a kiss on the cheek.

She grabbed his face babbling "Bubu" and gave him a sloppy kiss back.

It was after midnight when the last of the guests cleared out.

Bucky carefully picked up Winnie who had fallen asleep on the couch and put her to bed.

He came back out to find Y/N in the kitchen, loading the dishwasher, and shook his head before coming up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and burying his face in her neck.

He started kissing down her neck and shoulder "Come on doll, I'll take care of those in the morning." He nibbled on her neck and whispered in her ear "I wanna take you to bed and spend the nite worshipping you." softly running his hands down her arms.

She felt her core heating up and whined "Buuucky! Stop teasing!"

Bucky quickly turned her around and picked her up bridal style to carry her to the bedroom.

"It's not teasing if I follow through, doll."

“The Echo was the only way I could see them…and I suppose chasing that feeling I found myself as Leto, who had devoted herself to helping mothers of the Ancient world. Patient rested against a stone as she rubbed her eyes while Natsu sat on her knees in front of her. She pressed her hand to heart, “I cannot deny that they were not special. “I know, I could not be with them but I could sense it all,” Patient agreed, reaching out to take Natsu’s hand, “You would have been a wonderful daughter-in-law…”

“I still can be,” Natsu said with a smile.

“As lovely as all this sentiment is, mayhaps we address the kidnapping, impersonation, and I don’t know, the murder,” Thancred said flippantly, gesturing broadly to the trio of kidnappees.

Carter shrugged his shoulders, holding Hayzel asleep in his arms, the latter having lost their Ascian mask. “Hayzel is safe and no one I care about got hurt. Minti, you ready?” he asked before starting to walk away with the Viera in tow.

Keith balked, hurrying after his brother. “What do you mean no one you care about got hurt!? I was hit by a train! Twice,” he yelled, trying to squabble with his brother while Minti shook their head and sighed. 

“In light of what brought me here, I rather not have to broadcast who I saw,” Violet chimed in, holding herself as she blushed.

“Riol,” Jannie hummed with amusement.

“It wouldn't have been weird for him to visit U’odh,” Violet hissed at her fellow warrior or light. 

“I too, find myself embarrassed by the situation that led to my capture. While it was a distressing ordeal, she did see we were well cared for,” Mikoto added.

“Garlond,” Urianger mused, hiding a smile with a spread of cards as Mikoto shot him a cross look.

“Good, great. That's settled. Still murdered someone though,” Thancred pointed out.

“That, I must face my punishment for,” Patient said, rising to her feet. “There is no excuse for what I have done. Even spurred on by my Ancient persona, I could have very well stayed my hand and not let her take control.”

Patient looked at her hand, shaking a bit before looking up at Thancred to respond. “If you must strike me down, you may do so.”

“I will not be the arbiter of your fate. We'll turn you over to Gage and his cohorts for them to decide,” Thancred said before rubbing the back of his head.

“Leon…he's the one who got through to me and woke me up,” Natsu said softly, putting her hand over her heart, the memory feeling like it was a lifetime ago. “For…For Y'zel's sake…Where is my brother? Didn't he assist you?”

Patient shook her head. “Not beyond his writings. I haven't had the occasion to meet him. He eluded me when I sought him out.”

“As with us all,” Thancred.

Natsu looked around concerned then closed her eyes, trying to capture a memory, “Leonnioux woke me up specifically for Y’zel. And then…And then Hypnos, rather Hayzel, said that he did so because of the way Y’zel would react! They said Mikoto had foreseen it.”

Mikoto stepped forward. “This is sounding familiar now, though it sounds like they knew more than I about what I’d seen. A Miqo’te standing in a field of blue.”

Claudien dropped his bow, eyes wide as he turned to Patient. “Do you not have the Heart of Sabik?”

Anyways, I really love the clown and red theme ideas! Also, since Vocaloid is technically a music software, I was thinking some music-themed names as well! Also, as long as this isn't too specific, could you maybe do some X-themed things since there's a lot of Xs in his design?

I also like the idea of the darker, edgier themes, but I'd rather not have anything explicitly horror/slasher/demon related... as someone who kins Fukase, being associated with that stuff brings back some rough memories :( /nm

Chapter 9: The Lotus Stand (Hard) Characters: Keith Summers, Hayzel Baker, Y'mhitra Rhul, Shadowhunter, Raya-O Senna, A-Ruhn Senna, some wood-wailers, Elementals Rating: Teen Notes: Non-descript dead bodies - Previous - First - Next -

            Things had been quiet after Keith explained his vision. Shadowhunter had gone silent, seeming revolted by what the Echo-blessed Midlander had told him. Y’mhitra seemed to reflect on the situation, leaving the Padjal siblings to eat on the bench, staring between them all. Rubbing the back of his head, Keith cleared his throat awkwardly until the Seeker among them broke the silence.             “This might be a mixed blessing. From what I’ve heard from the scions, Emet-Selch was among the more powerful of our masked friends…and was felled by the Warriors of Light. Your friend…er, the Ascian’s utility has passed. Without the greater power to guide them, what might they be hoping to gain? Surely their leader’s demise, not to mention their god’s, would have demotivated them. And what of their hostage? Does your brother possess the Echo?”

“Chaos…,” Shadowhunter grunted.

“I didn’t sense anything like that until Keith fell. Afterward, I was able to pinpoint him,” Raya-O mused.

“I didn’t notice anything either, and I’m sure Y-Sumi or Kan-E would have said something if they sensed anything more,” her brother added before joining in with the others as they looked to Keith.

“Ah. My little brother’s only claim to fame is being kind of broody and wielding a big sword. It doesn’t sound like Asicans have want of money and my family, while in good standing with the Sultanate, don’t have any power to sway over them…and Carter is the third brother in a line of four, hardly the one to kidnap for any imagined leverage at all really.”

“Almost as useless as the second them,” Shadowhunter sighed.

“Exactly,” Keith agreed before tilting his head. “Wait a minute…”

“The blind leading the blind then,” Y’mhitra sighed, “At the very least…we’ve established they’re probably not going to try and end the world…and that Carter is a disposable hostage,” Y’mhitra sighed.

“Disposable!?” Keith yelped.

“Unless you feel that we’ve missed something, there’s no clear reason to keep Carter except leverage against pursuers.”

Keith lowered his head, heart racing as he let her words sink in. Clenching his fists, he shook out his head, not wanting to believe that the Ascian would harm him. Looking up, he watched the grey skies through the yellow leaves of the Shroud. “Guess we’re getting fall early this year,” he let out weakly.

“Fall? It’s spring,” Raya-O answered before looking up, “Oh no. A-Ruhn! Look up!”

The other white mage turned his attention up as well. “That’s not good...,” he started before reaching up to rub at one of his horns, “The elementals…their scared.”

Raya-O nodded while the other three looked at them confused. Standing, she looked to the sky, following the yellowing pattern. “This isn’t right. It’s worse towards Old Gridania…come, let’s go see if it’s related.”

Following the older Padjal’s lead, the five of them wandered into the older part of the city, the canopy looking more and faded as they got closer to the conjurer’s guild. As they approached Nophica’s Alter, Raya-O gasped. The area seemed to have been cleared save for a trio of wood wailers anxiously looking about.

“What are those,” Keith asked, approaching the alter itself, finding a couple of, what looked to him, like little glowing rag dolls. Reaching down, he picked one up and held it in its arms. The creature weakly wiggled its arms before going limp. “Ah, is it okay!?”

“An elemental…It’s not dead…but weakened for sure,” A-Ruhn observed while kneeling down to check the others, “That’s probably why the leaves are turning.”

Raya-O shifted then moved towards the clearing that led down toward The Lotus Stand. “Something…is down there.”

“Asican,” Shadowhunter growled before pushing past her.

“Wait! You can’t just go down there,” the girl huffed, chasing after.

Y’mhitra and A-Ruhn followed along with the three guards, leaving Keith to put the elemental gently down, giving its head a little pat before spacing out the others so that they weren’t all uncomfortably strewn on top of one another. Standing, he looked back to the stand as he heard Shadowhunter scream. Hurrying, he went to the path then ran down as fast as he could to the springs.

Standing near the small falls, Hayzel stood quietly, hand outstretched toward them while Shadowhunter crawled away through the waters, grasping for something Keith could not see.

“Cid…Mili…Allie…Alfonse…Rex…Ricon….please wake up. I can not have failed again…,” Shadowhunter weakly breathed out.             Keith swallowed then looked to find Y’mhitra trembling and backing up shaking her head before starting to cry, “Shtola…Zel…who…who did this…”

The three wood wailers also seemed to be muttering something, spears dropped, and attention spread. Looking to Raya-O and A-Ruhn, he frowned, the two holding hands and keeping their eyes closed while everyone else seemed to be seeing something he could not. Turning his attention back to the Ascian, he quickly hopped over the logs and onto the table at the center of the meeting area. “Hayzel. Please! Where’s Carter!? Why are you doing this,” he asked.

Hayzel’s attention snapped up to Keith, and in that moment his hand faltered. “Keith…” he whispered before shaking his head and gesturing upwards, “Just let us leave this forest in peace.”

“Not with my brother! Were you faking your friendship with us this whole time!? Carter really liked you…You don’t need to do this!”

“If I don’t I will be hunted and struck down like the rest. You know nothing of what I’ve been through…I want only to remain awake and to be with the one I love!”

Keith shielded himself as a dark aura flung from his friend’s hand toward him. His eyes itched for a moment, and when he opened them, his blood ran cold. Laying in the water where the bodies of his two other brothers…the youngest Qody with his blitzball…and his eldest Casumus in his favorite jeweled coat. Shaking, Keith fell to his knees on the wooden table, trying to catch his breath.

Punching the wood, he looked up, tear in the corner of his eyes as he looked on to Hayzel. He panted then stood back up. “So this is what the guy meant about nightmares…but, you left out Carter on purpose didn’t you? Stop this Hayzel!”

The Ascian seemed to be stepping away before shaking his head and clutching it with a scream. Everyone soon came out of their trances, seeing things as they were as Hayzel cried out in terror. The wind soon shifted, and thunder started to roll. Shadowhunter getting back to his feet drew his blade, readying to aim it before Keith body-checked him back into the springs.

“You fool,” the elder grunted, pushing Keith off him as he got back to his feet.

Lightning spread above the canopy before thunder rolled through. The ground shook and in another flash a suit of armor crashed down from above then assembled before letting out a deep sinister laugh from the wolf-shaped helm.             “Sirus…” Shadowhunter grunted, yanking Keith back to his feet and thrusting a spare sword into his hands.

“It’s just another illusion…right,” Keith asked, the others behind him readying themselves for battle, “Right?”

The armor stepped forward then manifested a war hammer and swung. Metal against metal echoed sharply through the arena as both Shadowhunter and Keith held their swords up  flat to block it while the Padjals casted a watery shield around them. From behind Y’mhitra cast out a carbuncle that began to fire magics the apparition’s way while the wood wailers slung their spears and arrows their way.             Keith was quick to squat, heart racing before he bounced upward, shoving himself into the flat end of the hammer to try and make the giant recoil. Freed of the parry, Gaius tried to break through to swipe at the Ascian beyond, only to be blocked as Sirus rotated to face Hayzel.”

            “It’s turning on its summoner,” Y’mhitra called out, spouting magicks out from her book.

            Keith slid through the stream then popped up in front of Hayzel then thrust his sword into the stomach of the armor before trying to uppercut with the blade and knock of the helm. Sirus faltered taking a couple of steps back before finding itself berated by stones by both A-Ruhn and Raya-O until it fell backward, sprawled out nearly the length of the stand. Taking a leap, Keith jumped back beside the Asican.

            “We did it,” Keith breathed out, eyes wide before turning to Hayzel as the Ascian cried out then faded into an abyss of darkness.

            “Move now boy,” Shadowhunter demanded, dashing forward to pull Keith against him as a red sword thrust out of the portal and struck him.

            Retreating back with the rest of the group, Keith watched as a horned figure emerged from the darkness. Straightening up, the handsome figure looked down at them, eyes white and sword held high before it struck down into the center of the armor.             “A voidsent,” Raya-O cried out.

            “Doesn’t he look a bit like…” Y’mhitra started, looking to Keith.

            “It’s in our way! Just strike it down,” Shadowhunter shouted before firing a round from Heirsbane as he launched forward to deliver the creature a series of blue-flamed strikes before being knocked away with a parry.

            Keith swallowed, staring up at the larger image of himself before he chucked the sword away then pulled out a pair of studded gloves from his pockets. Fitting them, he squared off then flew forward, feeling Y’mhitra’s castings wiz by him before he landed a fury of strikes into his dark mirror’s stomach.

            The creature merely grunted then swung its sword about, trying to sway Keith away before grabbing him by the throat and throwing him back. Holding his sword with both hands, the incubus closed its eyes then summoned eight swirling six-pointed stars around each party member before exploding dark aether about them. Keith hissed as it burned but was soothed as both siblings cast various healing magicks that made his foil recoil.

            Swooping back from of them, the incubus swung his sword high. Keith looked down, noting a dark circle coming from below. He leapt forward as a dark sword came forth from the ground, followed by a flurry of blades that seemed to come from all directions. Flipping forward, he did his best to dodge each one before looking up as a giant blackened blade barreled down at him before a silvery dome appeared around him and caused the sword to vanish before it could collide in full.

            “Strike him down while he cools off from the attack,” Y’mhitra called out.

            Keith nodded then closed his eyes then channeled his aether in his palm. It flooded like he’d never felt before, glowing brilliantly as he took his stance. “Go back to where you belong,” Keith called out before launching forward, striking the incubus hard before finding himself engulfed in light.

            He was blinded for a moment, but he could feel his target’s aether slip away. Once things came into focus, he looked back to his new friends and Shadowhunter before giving a little thumbs up as he crashed down into springs face first.
