Funguary is right around the corner, and I couldn’t be more excited to dive in again! I’ve always had a soft spot for fungi, so I’m eagerly anticipating this year’s creative journey. Who else is jumping on board? Here’s a throwback to some of the mushroom characters I designed last year. 🍄✨
Kayeri are giant plant-like humanoid from the folklore of Cuiba people of Colombia and Venezuela. With a mushroom or a ficus as a hat on their head, they are known to grow a the base of trees after a heavy rain. It is believed that they have enough strenght to carry cows away from their herd and, basically, eat them.
Omphalotus nidiformis otherwise known as Ghost fungus is a tupy of mushroom that glows a ghostly green at night. This weeks Fungus Friday is inspired by that mushroom. Please enjoy this little clown fella that I have whipped up for you this week. :]
Day 10 of the Funguary : Blue Coprinopsis
This mushroom gave me the impression of being covered in snow which inspired me for this design. I was also partly inspired by the myth of Yuki-Onna from Japanese folklore.
With this drawing I am getting very close to the end of Funguary, tomorrow will be my last for this year's event!
The amount of detail in this hurt, but I like this character so I had to do them justice! ;-;. It was also partially a gift to someone imprtant so sanity be damned!
Hey everyone! I took a little break, but I’m back now. I’ll be finishing up last week’s prompts while I work on the current ones, but at a slower pace. So, some days might have two entries when I’m done with the demonic ones :) This week, I’m also hoping to add a mushroom dish with each design.
i designed the sex ed teacher the day i had to sketch her and i ended up liking her so much that ive just drawn her on her own. she's unnamed and will probably never appear in the story again and she's based on an oyster mushrooms and i love her
Squeaking in one more mushroom character at the end of Funguary. Here is Cystolepiota. The fluffy cap made me think of fabric. Was gonna make the cap a dress, but thought a big hat would be more fun instead.
