Since I've made a (soft) comeback on here & Penny is giving me aaalll the dopamine right now, I figured I'd throw together a doodle page of his human form from my comic & drop some HC Human Form Penny Facts :

Dislikes being human for too long.

Appearance/movements start to slip into uncanny valley or straight up start reverting back if he’s not paying attention (which is a lot of the time). This requires a lot of reprimanding & reminders from Jenny. Also happens when, like the first fact above, he's been 'human' for too long. It wears the tired boi out.

Still drools but not as much as his default form.

Teeth stay sharp simply because he’s a brat & refuses to have normal human teeth.

Still tall af.

His bright orange hair color in his default form darkens to a more vibrant rust color when human.

Freckles for days.

Eyes turn a deep cerulean.

Fascinated by the taste of human food, which is amplified when in human form. He tends to go a little bonkers over it. I swipe the heel of my hand under my teary eye, “Yeah, he is. We’re doing maths.”

“Looks like it.”

“Shell, do you want to come in?” Jen says, “We were just taking a break if you wanted to talk about something.”

“Um, no, I’ll talk to you later.”

“No, come on,” she holds out her hands and beckons her over to us, “Come and chill out with us.”

Michelle’s journey to the bed is stilted, like she can’t imagine something more awkward than sharing space on a mattress with me, and I am awkward too, discomfort in my stomach as she occupies the patch of bed to Jen’s right, while I sit on her left, one earphone still dangling from my ear. 

Jen slings arms around us both, “I wish you two would just hang out,” she says, “Wah! It’s so silly, yeah, Michelle you’re, like, doing the emo thing right now and Jude has decided to be a Rugby Wanker, but why does that have to divide us? At the end of the day you’re both immigrants, and I’m gay. We’d be the ideal friend group,” she nudges us with her knees, “outsiders, yeah?” 

“Jude is not an immigrant in the same way. He’s white.”

“His grandmother on his dad’s side is Portuguese,” Jen says diplomatically, and we both roll our eyes, “God, I’m joking, I know it’s not the same,” She snatches hold of my face, “But look at his complexion, hm? Can’t you see it a little bit? That lit-from-within skin? God, he’s so pretty.”

Michelle makes a face, “Um, I think I’m going to go out and hang with Evan.”

“Isn’t that what you and Debra were shouting about just now?”

She goes a bit red, and eyes flit to mine for a moment and make me wish I wasn’t here. “Yeah, mam doesn’t want me to go out but like, she can’t really tell me what to do.”

“Okay, well, suit yourself. You’re missing out here though, Jude was just singing My Chemical Romance to me, and it was gorgeous.”

It’s my turn to feel embarrassed, “Clearly you’re not missing much. Um, have fun with Evan.”

“Yeah, I will,” She stands up and adjusts the hem of her black mini skirt, “Do I look okay, Jen?” Her tights have loads of holes in them, but I assume she wants them to be like that so I don’t give any insight.

“Yeah you’re hot. Go get rode.” She gives her a playful slap in the bum and she’s gone. We listen to her boots thunder down the stairs, then the slam of the front door. Debra screams at her to come back, or at least put on a coat. She does neither.

“You’re so weird around Michelle,” Jen accuses me as we resume our trigonometry lesson, “Why do you do that? You just stop talking.”

“I don’t know. I guess I can sense that she doesn’t like me.”

“She would like you if you talked to her.”

“I don’t know, Jen. If she was going to like me she’d probably have done it already,” I scan the page of equations for something that looks familiar, and can’t even remember what we were working on. “I think I must have done something, or maybe she just doesn’t like the kind of person that I am.”

“But you’re the sweetest, nicest, cutest boy alive,” Jen protests, “That’s not it. I think it’s just a clique thing. She’s just used to hanging out with a certain crowd of people. She doesn’t think that the people who play sport are going to be nice to people like her.”

“Well, I hate that then, because it’s not true. Being on the school rugby team and not having greasy hair doesn’t make me an arsehole by default.”

“What you just said does.”

“What?”

“Saying she has greasy hair doesn’t really help your case.”

“It’s not Michelle who has greasy hair. I was thinking about the other people who hang around the back steps of the lunch room.”

A snort, “You can say Evan.”

“Yeah, Evan’s hair is greasy sometimes. But like, so what, I guess. He doesn’t have to wash it,” I find a doodle I did earlier in margin of the maths book, a little drawing of a guy with lank hair flopped over one eye and a mouth full of sharp, pointed teeth. “He also doesn’t have to be an arsehole, which he is, by the way. Not me.”

“Evan is actually pretty nice.”

“Hm.”

“I think you should make an effort with him. I think he’s just cagey, and I think if you took time to hang out with him and talk to him then you’d see that you actually have a lot in common, you know? He’s got really good taste in music, and he’s funny, and he likes to draw.”

“Yeah, I know, he and Michelle sit down at the back of my art class and scribble pictures of crying eyes and wilting roses and shit for the whole hour.”

“They’re so deep and romantic like that,” She says wistfully, and I can't tell if she’s joking. 

“Right.” 

“I think if you make an effort with him then you and Michelle can get closer and then we’ll all be like a big happy family. The perfect little friend group, hm?”

I snicker, “So I’d be going through this effort for your direct benefit?”

“Of course,” She says, rolling over to her back and shooting me a grin, “Who else would it be for?”

i have a bit of a long answer to this, so i hope you don’t mind me replying as a post, just in case anyone else is curious

the tl;dr is: i'm planning to write a fic for this AU, but i'm happy to read your fic as well with proper credit

first thing is: i’m overjoyed by the positive response to this little AU! it’s definitely been occupying my mind as i’ve been studying (Eclipse is notably the most distracting) so i’m glad there’s an interest in such a simple premise—i was honestly hesitant to call it an AU at first by how simple an idea it is

that being said, i’ve been hinting at it a bit in some of my tags, but i am planning to write a fic for this AU it’s still in the planning and drabble stage, but there is definitely a story that i’m hoping to share. unfortunately, i am currently attempting to speedrun a 2 year program, so my time is short—and my leisure time is split between my other competing ideas and inhaling other people’s creative works to revive me after my daily readings

i will say that the AU has evolved quite a bit since my initial drawings—new designs, more background info, and a healthy dose of lore and trauma for the entire main cast—so there’s a lot i’m excited to share with you all

THAT BEING SAID, i am always eager to encourage other people’s creativity and i am so honoured that my little doodles can inspire people to be creative. so i would absolutely love to see your fic, i just ask that you:

in case anyone's curious, here are some not-too-spoilery notes about what i’m planning:

the working title is “New Do, Same You” (honestly still iffy about it—it fits the story but it doesn’t quite ring well, we’ll see if i keep it)

it’s a slice of life story about how we respond to change, dusting ourselves off and moving forward, while carrying the baggage and fragile trinkets that define us

it will definitely be more than 5 chapters long. i don’t have an estimate on how long the fic will be. it's nothing too grand but i do know it will need quite a bit of time in order to properly explore all 3 of the boys and Y/N

there will be a Y/N, and Y/N has some lore, but other than some key backstory and key areas of development, i try to keep them gender neutral and as ambiguous as possible

i’ll be sharing the updated designs and some drabbles here when i have time—as soon as i can! (a little sneak peak is actually scheduled to post sometime today!)

i’ll also admit that this is my first time planning to write such a big fic and the first time i’m considering sharing it with other fans! my writing muse is very shy, so please be patient with me

I haven’t doodlepaged in ages!!! ^^ Started off with No plan, Song of Eared Robot came up on the playlist so i drew Tetobot, then i just kept going w the singing robots bc they’re the miracle cure for my artblock apparently. Only stopped bc while drawing Po-Uta I made the “mistake” of listening to his demo song and after that I was too busy sobbing /pos to pick a new synth :’D

Athazagoraphobia AU? Athazagoraphobia AU. >:D

Look at this traumatized boy.

This was really just me doodling as I brainstormed. I don't know how much I'm gonna keep and I'd love some feedback.

Anyway, I'll explain my thought process under the cut.

Initial idea. I wanted Shadow to be much more emotional than he normally is. I also thought, hey, what if Starline could use Shadow’s trauma against him? Maybe that's the reason Starline brings him in for 'treatment'? For clothes, I dunno, I liked the idea of a sweater vest. Also, I wanted his quills to droop and make him look more sad.

So then I thought, Niko's big repeated phrase is "everything is fine," so what if Shadow said "I'M fine"?! Just like, he's still avoiding his emotions and trauma, but in a completely different way. Instead of hiding behind not caring, he's hiding behind a smile. I also decided to have super small be the default look for his eyes, as a visual indicator that this boy is Not Okay. Also kinda wanted to just channel my inner creepy for once and do whatever.

A breakdown. I think this Shadow cries massively when he can't hold back his emotions anymore.

Yeah just a quick doodle. He straining to keep that smile.

I had this idea that Starline programs in frequent fake flashbacks which results in this. Kinda reinforcing Shadow’s need to stay with Starline. He's the only one who can make this stop. Also, I think maybe Shadow’s real memories might try to come back during these bits, which puts him in even more pain.

Wanted to draw the droopy quills again. XD

Doodle. Shadow can't always hold everything in and this is him about to snap.

Miscellaneous:

- I think Starline is probably gonna need to get rid of Shadow’s stripes in order to keep up the illusion.

- Repurpose that Ultimate Lifeform super intellect. Shadow’s like the nerdy kid who sits in the corner of the library not talking to anyone all day now.

- Name ideas? I though of Daniel. I dunno, thoughts?

- I got this far and realized I didn't have a way to tie this in to the NAME OF THE AU. Ideas appreciated.

- I was thinking maybe Shadow’s fake backstory and the fake reason for his trauma is he lost his family in the war. (And then maybe saw Shadow as someone who's strong and perfect to get revenge on Eggman and so then started having 'delusions' of being him so he could avenge his family.)

Anyway, yeah, feedback is much appreciated! We'll see how much of this I keep and how much I change.

It won't cause any harm.' /j > or he would still survive in this case: 1. if he starve, he'll driven insane, causing the bloody massacre and further cursing his guilty conscience. Or simply a government aid for those in need so the ministry decided to offer some food for everyone's sake (anyway nobody gets hurt) 2. look for applicants who wants sell their blood meet the super hot, sexy and shy vampire and get paid ... what if: 'your family just sold you to the vampire lord to get some money and reduce the number of mouths to feed- razzy tries to send you back to your family but you don't want to go back because they will just happy that they can sell you again and receive the price twice so he is convinced and allow you to live in his lair' this is quite a sort of fanfic idea I believe someone will write it one day during my lifetime

Shadows Boxing

So a bit ago in the SWL discord, we were discussing the museum upgrade item, Dr. Klein's Notes. (A number of us agreed: we would very much like to be able to read them.) From our collective silliness, Vomher (or "Vh'mhyrr," as their display name appears in that discord group) suggested the notes were Klein's shadow, trapped and put to paper. Then Mojo replied to that with:

And I found that to be a DELIGHTFUL mental image. (For context: Mihas is a fighter, and mentions boxing with shadows. Klein is a scientist who has definitely not lost any intellect to the eldritch substance he's studying and microdosing, insisting he can still turn his head quick enough to spot his shadow before it sneaks up on him. Mihas fights monsters so he should probably actually be attacking Klein because the good doctor is definitely Filth infected, but it's fine, this is for funsies.)

SO, as is my wont when folks say fun things, I doodled it! And boy howdy do I love the watercolor physics in Rebelle, it is SUCH a boon for dressing up (relatively) simple doodles. I used it for the fire, shadows, and filling in the fellas. Used wet layers for the latter two, so the pigment would just flow together and I wouldn't have to think too hard about shading (using the lineart/selections to keep the pigment contained). Then an oil brush for the Filth, so the impasto 3d effect would give an uncanny texture, on top of it being (hex code) "absolute zero" maximum entropy black. I've taken to using the default oil palette's "bone black" for lineart and such, which is a brown-tinted near-black. So when I use pure-zero digital-black, it stands out even if things are otherwise (mostly) monochrome! It's fabulous.

alfred straight up murdering his brother on accident just because he walked too quietly into the room is so fucking funny but how terrifying is alfred to regular humans? If he goes to casually throw some ridicously heavy thing he's working on over to the intern or whoever theyre not gonna get back up on their feet to chew him out for it lol. also... getting shot and squished by bisons still hurts like all hell right? does matthew start to get wary around him or is he just too used to it to be all that bothered?

Lmao right? I very much enjoy using these characters, especially fleshy loony-tune-style horror shows because good fucking god, it's funny. But its also very fun? Alfred javelining people into the water must be so fun. Alfred casually picks up Matt when he's on the sofa because he dropped his keys behind it. He will randomly rip up troublesome trees in someone's fields in the middle of the night. This is not a wholly negative, angsty or even humourous trait.

So for humans... not very as an adult. I think. Generally, Alfred puts his people at ease. He's handsome, funny, intelligent and friendly. Man has that kind of crooked smile and easy charm. The charisma, luck and social skills of the gambler and the grifters and drifters of the old Westerns if not the old West. When he was little and had less control because he'd get excited, I could see him getting himself in trouble and accidentally committing some violence. As an adult, I think he's much more careful around humans, and the only time he tends to bust out the super strength is to prevent accidentally killing humans. Picking up a car in front of someone getting aggressive will contain that person's aggression goddamn fast.

As for if things hurt, yes. Superheroes and Gods are boring for me to write about. I like making these fuckers creepy and overpowered sometimes, but I'm most invested in their humanity. So time to do the math. The average bison is about 816 to 1,088 kg, and the most recent record for a deadlift was 487 kg. So on the lower end of that, 816 divided by 487 is about 1.67; redeploy that as a percentage that's about 160% the strength of what's currently possible. I personally think this is why this dork is always snacking, so it has some effect on his metabolism and his physiology. He's not going to starve to death as fast as he should with that metabolism because there's that nation fuckery there, but my boy is peckish. So now that I've laid that nonsense out, I generally make him about 160% more resilient than the strongest human (yeah, my browser history is fucked, what about it?), but not in all ways because biologically, that would fuck up his brain something fierce cerebellum be whack big and I like my nerdy NASA boy. But I try to keep that 160 in mind, so it might sometimes be consistent? Maybe? But yeah, he's durable and walks away from a lot of things that most people wouldn't, but he can be shot, dropped, smashed, hit, etc. And his pain tolerance is limited because, again, that removes too much vulnerability and why are we invested in this nerd? Lord knows it's not patriotism on my end. Strong, but not indestructible.

Now with the biology and the physical aspect of my stupid brain's explanation of this yankee doodle dumbass (affectionate) articulated, onto the emotional and interpersonal consequences. This is a bit meta, but Alfred's perception of himself and his loved ones can reflect this fandom and canon. I don't know if canon makes them twins, but many people do despite some intrinsic differences in history, progress, culture and values. It's a valid take because who wants to lord over other people or think about being the superpower and the empire? And passport privilege, cultural dominance, and political hegemony are things that only come into play when we're online or in some sort of international situation. The world revolves around the US, but Alfred's 'first amongst equals' with the laurels of power is not his default setting. At home, he just wants to be another person. Abroad, he has to function on a different set of rules, and leadership, and that arrogance only comes out at certain points. He wants to be human, he wants to be loved, he wants to be normal. And it hurts his fucking feelings to be reminded he isn't, that it is lonely at the top, that no matter how similar, the Trudeau quote applies.

Matt's used to him, and Alfred's reasonably careful, but the gulf between them, Alfred's ability to just steamroll him if he wanted to (even if Matt would give him a hell of a fight) does leave its marks. Matt tries as hard not to show it as much as Alfred tries not to crush him. He's overjoyed about something and goes in for a hug, and there go a couple of subluxing ribs as he kind of affectionately slaps Alfred's shoulder like "indoor muscles! Indoor muscles, bud!" And its mainly because Alfred doesn't like thinking about being a weirdo, and Matt doesn't want to remind him. They want to be as equal as possible, but physics is a thing.
