8 Days in Paris

I’ve been wanting to visit Paris for as long as I can remember. 2 weeks ago my life long dream, CAME TRUE! My fascination with the city began with my love for ballet. For those who don't know I was a ballet dancer for 16 years, and the type of ballet I was taught, originated in Paris. I have envisioned myself walking amongst the city streets for years and to finally cross this off my bucket list was an indescribable feeling. I want to share everything we did while we were there, and any quick tips to help you out if you’re wanting to visit this amazing place for yourself! 

Alright lets start with planning. I searched for EVER to find affordable flights. Typically out of California round trip tickets to Paris are around $1200 each. By some miracle I was able to find round trip tickets for $500 each. (Because it’s off season for tourism and once the weather gets colder, the ticket prices drop) I didn't use any specific sites or cheap airlines, I was just always looking for a deal. So I definitely recommend going on off season (Fall to early spring) to avoid high ticket prices. 

While you're planning, I would also really recommend staying at an Airbnb over a hotel. We really felt like we got the true Parisian experience and most Airbnbs are cheaper then hotels is what I noticed while planning.

HERE IS A LINK to the cute private apartment we stayed at while we were there. It was PERFECT for what we wanted. The iconic Parisian windows, a great view to a little courtyard, in the city center, and 3 minute walk to the subway. (Photo below for the ideal Parisian windows I was talking about.)

We decided to break up our trip by spending the majority of our time in Paris at the Airbnb, and then the last 2 nights we splurged and stayed at a hotel I’ve had my eye on for awhile now. Hotel Providence is the Parisian hotel of my dreams, and it did not disappoint. The stunning lush decor and rich color palette of the entire hotel checked off all my aesthetic points. We had champagne waiting for us in our room, and they were accommodating for early check in and leaving our bags at the front desk after we checked out, since we had some time to kill before our flight. I found the hotel on Instagram and I’m so glad I did. They have an amazing bar downstairs that was great for pre and post dinner drinks. They serve food as well but we unfortunately never got to try any. The front desk and service at the bar was amazing, super friendly, spoke great English and would absolutely recommend staying here if your budget allows. Another thing I would highly recommend is getting the PARIS CITY PASS. This pass will get you into the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Versailles, you name a Parisian attraction, and this pass will most likely get you in, and the best part is you won't have to wait in ticket lines. At the Louvre, there was a 2 hour wait to get tickets, and we literally walked RIGHT in... Sorry everyone in line! Should have done your research!

While planning, something else to think about is transportation. Basically the entire trip, we took Paris’s subway system ‘Le Metro.’ If you have an iPhone, using apple maps is going to be your best friend. Switch your directions to transit instead of walking or driving. The apple maps directions will tell you exactly where to go for the train stations, which lines to take, and which direction you need to be heading. There are signs in English in the subway so don't worry about not being able to understand French signs. There are trains right at the airport, and everywhere you will want to go in the city. Its truly amazing and so affordable compared to trying to Uber everywhere. We honestly preferred taking the subway way more than taking Ubers, because traffic in the city is.... Intense, and most of our Uber drivers didn't speak any English. The trains were always much faster and just easier in general.

Now I want to share the things we did that were noteworthy, and that we would recommend to anyone who is coming to Paris for the first time.

1. Eiffel Tower. Just as magical as you would think it would be. Head to the Tracadero across the river Seine to get an amazing view and its a GREAT picture spot. Another amazing picture spot is on the same side of the river as the Eiffel Tower and its a little dead end street with the perfect view of the tower with some French buildings in the line of view as well.

2. Versailles. The grandest palace in all of Europe. It is breath taking. Especially if you're a history nerd like me. I got an audio guide so we didn't have to take a tour, and it was perfect. Also highly recommend renting a golf cart to get around the gardens and to see the other buildings and Marie Antoinette’s little village she created. PICTURE SPOTS: Hall of mirrors, Petite Trianon, and the Grand Trianon. Advice for getting pictures here, PATIENCE. Just wait for people to move so you can get cool shots with no one in them.

3. Crazy Horse. Ok this one won't be for everyone, but when I think of Paris I think of burlesque. Crazy Horse was one of the coolest burlesque shows we’ve seen and its a must if you're wanting a sexy night out. ( We preferred this over Moulin Rouge. )

4. MontMarte. MontMarte is the cities highest point. resting on a hill, there's a gorgeous old church, the Sacre Couer. MontMarte is also the cities historic artist district. Artists such as Van Gogh, and Renoir, found inspiration in this quaint part of town. Behind the church is the cutest little area where local artists are still paining city scapes and personal portraits. Seeing this area was a highlight for me. It felt so like what I thought Paris would be like. Good rooftop bar with the view of the city and the Eiffel Tower: Terrass Hotel, the rooftop bar is open to the public, you don't have to be staying at the hotel.

5. Le Marais. This is where you need to go if you're wanting to shop. Clothes, local pastries, apothecaries, you name it this area has it. Our favorite stores were Blue Garage, System Vintage, Luka Luna, 

6. Notre Dame. A Paris staple. Currently closed for renovations but still worth seeing from afar. The streets around the Notre Dame are covered with vintage magazine / book stands. They make for great home decor. Make sure you have euros pulled out though because they don't accept credit cards!

7. Musee d’Orsay. Paris’s second biggest and most famous museum. Is in an old train station which makes for a cool setting for a museum. (See picture below) We liked this museum more than the Louvre...Way less crowded, and more modern artists that we actually knew. Holds famous paintings from Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Van Gogh. Highly recommend grabbing a drink on the 5th floor cafe behind one of the old clocks!

8. The Catacombs. Super interesting walk through some of Paris’s old Limestone quarries that they filled with bones from the cemeteries, when the cemeteries were getting too crowded in the 1700′s. I didn't get any spooky vibes. Just felt like a museum.

9. Palais Garnier. The Opera house in Paris. Reminiscent of Versailles, this grand Opera house is soooo extravagant and gorgeous. The first real Ballets were put on here. How cool is that?

That wraps up the things to see that we loved most. Now lets move on to my favorite part... THE FOOD!

Basically everywhere you look in Paris there are little cafes. Sometimes as many as 4 on a block. Eat at as many of them as you can. They're all pretty incredible. If you're from America and have never traveled to Europe, something to note is that in Europe, slow service is good service. You have to ask for your check. dining out in Europe is an experience and they want you to relax and enjoy your time dining. There is no rush with food there. Its pretty life changing coming from a country where you are accustomed to being in and out of a restaurant within an hour and getting angry if your food hasn't shown up in 15 minutes. 

Things you need to try at any Parisian restaurant: bread, butter, wine, and cheese. They're all usually locally sourced and man let me tell you... It just tastes DIFFERENT over there. The butter is the best butter I’ve ever had. When we got home I legitimately looked up where I can buy French butter here in San Diego... The wine? INSANE. One night I had 6 glasses (which is WAY way way too much for me) and the next morning I didn't wake up with any sort of hangover... I don't know what they're doing in France but wow it is amazing. The cheeses are also wonderful. All so different depending on the restaurant, and all taste soooo much fresher then any cheese I’ve had here in the US. It’s hard to describe. 

Some of our favorite restaurants we came across while we were there:

BREAKFAST / LUNCH-

Any cafe usually has a Croque Monisuer or a Croque Madame which is basically a grilled cheese sandwich with ham and egg, they're amazing and make a great breakfast sandwich. We also ordered Cafe Au Lait’s everywhere we went for breakfast (Coffee with steamed milk.) And croissants are always a good idea.

La Terrasse Des Archives for an amazing avocado toast eggs Benedict

Hollybelly 5 for some americanized / English style breakfasts and some amazing lattes

Hardware Societie for another amazing Americanized / English breakfast

Breakfast in America is a full on American diner in the heart of Paris.

DINNER-

My favorite meals we ate in Paris were our dinners. There is endless amazing food options but here are some of our favorites.

Sacree Fleur did not disappoint. Located in MontMarte, this cozy restaurant will blow you away. We started with the cheese course, wine, and bread. Had steak and mashed potatoes as our main course, which by the way, continues to cook at your table on a hot slab of rock. SO COOL! And we finished with the creme brûlée, which actually made me CRY, it was so good.... (Terrass Hotel is walking distance away, the rooftop bar is open to the public and you get an amazing view of all of Paris including the Effie tower while enjoying some after dinner drinks, and you don't have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy the rooftop bar.)

Le Petit Italien is an amazing option if you're wanting some Italian food in Paris.

Le Sancrerre in MontMarte was another stand out. I got the beef bourguignon and it was incredible.

Chez Janou was also outstanding. Perfect French dishes, great service. Our waiter was actually living in San Diego for awhile before he moved back home to Paris so it was a super random coincidence to eat there and have him as our waiter!

A roar of applause erupts when Brun slams the last shot glass on the bar table. Her competitor topples over the table top and tries to settle himself back on the stool. She’s too proud to admit it, but she’s ready to curl up on the billiards table and call it a night. A firm hand slaps her on the back and she could feel the whiskey climbing up her throat. She holds her mouth and swallows the remainder back down.

“I never seen a man or woman take six shots like it was their mornin’ tea.”

“Eight,” Brun corrects.

The large man takes a count of the shot glasses lined up against the bar and frowns.

“I pre-gamed before I came here.” She elaborates.

The man lets out a throaty laugh.

“An’ how are ye’ still standin’, lass?”

Brun punches her chest.

“I’ve had years of practice,” she shrugs.

“I’ll remember to never challenge ye’.” The man leaves her and returns to his crowd.

It’s not too often when Brun needs a drink of water, but those whiskey shots aren’t sitting too comfortably in her. She reaches over the bar and takes a bottle of water. The bartender eyes her and points her way.

“Put it on my tab,” she interrupts. Brun opens the bottle and takes a long drink. It’s hardly midnight and she’d be damned to go home after knocking that brutish ogre in his place. He was getting on everyone’s nerves and made a mistake trying to get in Brun’s pants.

Brun strides through the pub and looks for something of interest. The televisions are displaying a boring game of golf and she knows little about the sport to join in on the bet. The billiards tables and darts are occupied. Even so, she can’t imagine being eight shots in and winning anything. For the time being, she will occupy herself with the jukebox until her blood alcohol content wears down.    

She fumbles in her pocket for a few quarters and searches for the right song. She settles on a song she used to listen to in secondary school. It was her mother’s favorite band when she was a teenager herself, and they used to play the cassette tape over and over for hours on end.

The opening chords bring her back to her trailer back home and she sways to the even beat.

She stands in her place and frowns. She realizes she has been dancing to a different song. She doesn’t recall the song changing and wonders when her song ended.

Perhaps the shots hit her harder than she expected. Brun decides to settle herself down. It’s going to be a rough night sweating off the liquor.

Her shoulder slams into another body. Was it always there? Her vision becomes blurred as she lets out an incoherent apology. The body-the man, as she can now see- holds her steady.

“Are you doing alright there?”  

Brun gives a lazy smile and nods.

“Good music.” She points to the blaring speakers.  

The man nods his head.

“Yeah, an old one but a classic.” He gives a weak laugh. “Can you walk?”

Brun realizes his hands are still holding her up. She shoves him off and grumbles.

“I can walk.”

Brun turns around and feels the floor hit her face.

Her face is throbbing when she cracks her eyes open. She’s laying on her side and wonders how she ended up on this leather couch. She thanks herself that she did end up on her side. Choking on her own vomit would not be a dignifying way to die.

“Aww, shit. I blacked out, again.” She groans.

She yelps when something cold touches her face. Brun swings out her foot and it makes an impact.

“Jesus Christ!”

Brun’s vision refocuses and she sees a man hunched over and clutching his gut.

She stands up on shaky legs and looks around. It doesn’t look like an apartment. It’s a dimly lit office room with the stench of cigarettes that probably polluted the air some decades ago. The man puts a gentle hand on Brun and she snatches it out of his grasp.

“I wouldn’t try walking back to the pub if I were you. You really blacked out.”

Back?

“I’m still in the pub?” Her voice croaks. She notices the thump of the music in the background.  

The man offers her a cold bottle of water and she takes it.

“We’re in the manager’s office. I know the guy and he helped me bring you in.”  

Brun sits on the office chair and lets the cool water soothe her dry throat.

“Do you remember anything?”

Brun tries to think hard.

“There was a drinking game,” she purses her lips, “and I won.”

“Is that all you remember?” He presses.

Brun focuses on the man’s face. It’s a little too dim to tell, but there is something about him that seems familiar. She nods her head, anyway.

The man sits across and rests his elbows on his knees.

“You started dancing by the jukebox for some time and then knocked into me. After that, you face planted on the floor and nearly broke your nose.” The man points to her face and Brun reaches up.

She winces at the stinging sensation on the bridge of her nose. She feels a makeshift bandage taped across.

“Don’t worry, it’s not broken.” He hands her the ice pack she knocked out of him earlier.

“You sure?” She takes the ice and sighs at the cool touch.

The man nods. “I got a friend who took a look. He didn’t see any fractures.”

Brun laughs. “How many mates do you have?”

“I’ve been told I’m quite sociable.” He smirks.

Brun shifts her eyes away. She can see how he would be likable. If he didn’t have to drag her passed out body through the pub and into the office, she might have tried hitting on him.

“Well, I would be flattered if I didn’t witness how much you drank.” He gives a nervous laugh.

“Did I say that aloud?” Her cheeks are burning.

“Looks like you’ve got a long way before you sober up.” He leans back. “You’re welcome to stay here.” He fidgets with his hand and shrugs. “Or I can take you home.”

Brun shakes her head, feeling her cheeks still warming up. “I got my bike here, I don’t want to leave it behind.” After a moment of silence, she continues. “You would trust me, here?” She gives a look of skepticism.

“It’s not my room to trash.”

Brun laughs and stands up. “I think I’ll just take myself home.”

He quickly stands up and puts a hand on her shoulder.

“I can’t let you do that.” He protests.

“Why not?” Brun takes a step back and feels the ground wobbling.

“You’re clearly still very drunk.” He motions. “You were passed out for hours.”

“I can handle myself.” She bats away his hand reaching for her.

“But, you see I’m already involved.”

Brun turns to him and raises an eyebrow. He sighs.

“If I let you leave the pub drunk and you get in an accident or hurt someone, I could get in trouble for not stopping you.” The man holds up both palms. “And my family would kill me if I get tied up with the law, again.”

“Again?” Brun begins to feel unsafe.

The man realizes how unsettling that comment sounds considering they’re alone in the back of a noisy pub.

“I just realized that was a bad joke.” He grimaces.

Brun keeps her guard up but considers his comment. Her judgment is not at its finest, but it’s unlikely he would go through this much trouble to get himself in other kinds of trouble.

“It would be best if you stayed here.” He points to the leather couch. “You can sleep there until you clear up.”

“I’m sure I can order a car over.” Brun pulls up her phone and curses herself. “Of course, it won’t turn on.”

“I’ll charge it for you.” He takes her phone and walks back to the couch.

The man sits on the edge of the couch and leans over for his phone. He removes it from the charger, switches the phones and begins to stand up.

While Brun has never met this man before, it is odd, and admittedly flattering, that someone so attractive is being so kind to her. Brun sits down next to him and puts her hand on his knee.

“I don’t think I’ve ever met someone at a pub who was so…hospitable.” Brun leans closer and glances up at the man’s blue eyes. “You might be the most interesting one, yet.” She smiles and presses herself up against his thigh.

The man sucks in a breath and gives a weak smile.  

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but I would prefer to get to know you better when you’re not as intoxicated.” He gently nudges her off.

Brun huffs and settles herself back down.

Well, if that’s not what he’s after.

“You will feel better, and thank me later if you just turn in, here.” The man stands up and makes his way to the door.

He reaches over the doorknob and turns the lock.

“You can keep this locked if you want.”

This guy is really going out of his way for me.

The longer she remains on the couch, the more comfortable she feels. Slowly, Brun can feel her body make contact with the cushions and falls asleep the second the lights go out. The last thing she hears is the click of the door shutting.

“Thanks for the help, guys. Tonight, was wilder than I thought it would be.” Korg puts the bottles of liquor back on their shelves.

“Anything for free bottles of ale!” Thor pumps his fist in the air.

Loki’s brother finishes clearing up the last table and slaps him on the back.

“Are you sure you want to wait here?”

Loki motions to the closed office door. “It wouldn’t be wise to leave a pub to someone who can handle their liquor.”  

“The things you do for a pretty face.” Thor nudges him.

“She practically passed out in my arms. I couldn’t just drop her and walk away.” He rolls his eyes.

“Sure thing, brother. Remember to give Sleeping Beauty a kiss before she wakes up. Or maybe feed her one of your experimental dishes, that ought to bring her back to life.” He snickers.  

Loki shoves Thor and reminds him not to bite the hand that feeds them both.

While Thor might be jesting, there isn’t anyone else he knows better that can take care of a hungover person. He hopes his brother will fill him in on the details about this mystery woman, later.  

“I’ll come back later in the afternoon.” Korg hands him the key. “If I’m not back, make sure you lock up on your way out.”

“I will.” He nods.

Loki squints his eyes when the pair opens the front door. Morning light quickly flashes in the pub and he realizes how late-or early- it is. He drags his feet to the back of the bar and makes himself a cup of coffee. Hopefully, it won’t be long before she wakes up and he can get a few hours of sleep in when he gets home.

Loki thanks Korg that he took his advice and started putting the pub’s kitchen to use and serve decent food to the patrons. He reasons that his friend won’t miss a few missing eggs and such.

Brun’s head feels like it’s stuffed with rocks. Luckily, she can recall why she’s on the sofa in the pub.

“I’d call that a victory in my book.” She laughs to no one and rubs her head. She notices a tempting glass of water on the desk with two aspirins. It feels strange being taken care of, but she can’t refuse considering the throbbing headache the whiskey left her.

Finishing her glass of water and pocketing her fully charged phone, she decides to step out the office.

“Well good morning.” The familiar face on one of the bar stools smirks and motions a coffee mug.

“Is it really morning?” Brun walks over and grumbles. She presses her temples at the sound coming from the television. Since when was morning news so loud?

The man notices her discomfort and puts the television on mute.  

“Afraid so.” He holds up what looks like a breakfast sandwich. “Luckily, the pub has some eggs, bread rolls and sausages I could put together.”

Brun holds her gaze at the sandwich and feels reluctant to accept. Her bike is just outside and she’s not the one to stick around for the morning after. Even if nothing technically happened.  

“Unless you prefer some stale beans and toast.” The man frowns.

Brun shakes her head and accepts. She recoils when she feels the food hit her empty stomach. Hangover breakfasts are never pleasant for her, no matter what the food is. She feels bad that she can’t enjoy her meal. From what she can taste, it seems like this man has a talent for food.

“If you don’t own this place, where is the owner.”

“He left for a bit.” He offers her a cup of coffee. Brun shakes her head. She’s still having trouble keeping the breakfast sandwich in her hungover stomach.

“He must really trust you to leave you alone, here.” Brun smiles and eyeballs all the tempting liquor beckoning her to take a taste. There’s some top-shelf stuff she’s only had the pleasure of tasting when people with platinum credit cards wanted to gain her favor.

“You can say that. He’s more acquainted with my brother.”

Brun settles herself on the bar stool and continues with her food. Her taste is slowly coming back to her.

“But…”He trails off, “he owes me a favor, anyhow.”

“This is just a favor? Why go through all this trouble?” Brun finishes her sandwich.

“Well, maybe I was hoping to get lucky.” He gives a playful grin.

Brun laughs. “No, you weren’t.”

The man raises his eyebrows. “You’re reasoning?”

Brun hums in thought. “You wouldn’t have admitted it.” A smile cracks, “The faux-chivalrous type of people I know would beg me to thank them. Or start ranting away about how out of their way they went to help me.”

“Maybe I’m different.”

Brun considers and humors him, “Maybe.”

“Or maybe I’ve noticed you for some time and hoped for a reason to talk to you.” Brun can’t tell if he’s being honest or twisting up any clues she has about this man. He continues with his theory, “I can’t think of another story more romantic than that.”

“Hah, some romance! I don’t even know your name.” She laughs.

“It’s Loki,” he smiles.

Brun begins to tell him her name and he cuts her off.

“And you’re Brunnhilde.”

She tilts her head.

“I had to check your I.D. Just in case.” He tosses her wallet back. “Don’t worry, there was nothing worth taking.” He snickers.

Brun takes a quick look to be sure and mutters. “It’s Brun, actually.” She puts her wallet back in her pocket.

“Well, Brun. It was a pleasure to meet you.” He takes a bite out of his sandwich.

Brun nods her head. “Likewise.” She takes one last look in those striking blue eyes and mutters. “And, thank you.”

Loki’s eyes warm up at that and nods.  

Brun zips up her jacket and reaches in her pocket for her keys. She stops when she feels some loose change.

“Before I go.” She smirks. “I might as well leave you something for your troubles.” Brun walks over to the jukebox and puts some coins in.

“You know I could have done that free of charge.”

Brun ignores him and tries not to cry out in frustration.

Too late!

She smiles at the jukebox menu left at her favorite song. As if it was meant to happen.

Loki holds back a laugh at the opening chords of the song. Looks like she forgot she already did this last night. Though, she was dancing between a sea of sweaty men and unaware of his wandering eyes that time.  

Brun makes her way out and sways her hips along. She pauses mid-step, frowns and realizes her choice.

“This was the song I picked when I was drunk dancing, wasn’t it?”

Loki laughs and nods his head.

“I knew it wasn’t a coincidence.” She grumbles to herself.

“It’s a good song.” He shrugs.

“Well, I’m still exiting with the song playing.”

“Oh don’t forget to re-bandage your nose.” A smile peeks over Loki’s mug as he takes a sip.

Brun touches her blood-soaked nose and whines. She must have looked ridiculous this whole time. She picks up her pace and leaves without another word.

The last half of the song is accompanied by the roar of a motorbike.  

Loki finishes his sandwich and smiles to himself. He never thought he would find somebody as theatrical as himself. Hopefully one day he could treat her to a drink for her performance. 

Note: Just noting, that I tried to keep the AU in U.K. but, I wouldn’t say I’m an expert but I do hope the story was close to how things are done, there. Let me know if I missed something! 😊

Where I Shop, How I dress, What kind of clothes do I fuck with.

Since I’ve been getting a lot of asks about where I shop, I might as well just post about it. I get them a lot and I think I should tell you guys where I shop, my favorite brands, what I wear, and etc. 

1. I thrift. Anonas (the ones near the train station) and along Sucat are the ones I usually go to if I want to thrift with my friends. Starmall Alabang has a few thrifts too and my friend thrifts there. I do too and I got a shit load of good finds there once. But as long as we pass by a thrift, no matter where we are, we always tend to look. With thrifted, you can’t trust just one shop. Because sometimes, the thrifts I go to are dead as fuck. It’s really just by chance. And you gotta be adventurous. You gotta look through every single thing if you really wanna find something you like. You gotta keep your eyes and mind wide open for this one. 

2. IG Shops. Okay, so I don’t really shop on Instagram anymore. But I used to. A lot. I used to go to Pre-Loved shops online and look through their stuff. I used to budget myself. (But I stopped. Don’t ever stop pls. Lmao) I shopped on Instagram at around 2013 - 2014. And I stopped. But I’ve been semi-loyal to a few shops. Like @/seashop @/polytolyowie and @/_bcs.ph. Most of them make good quality customized shirts and I dig those. 

3. Forever 21, H&M, and Uniqlo. Also known as my Big Three. The trickiest part about these shops is that the line between LAME and I FUCK WITH THIS is really fucking thin. They could go from “OG design. I dig this” to “What the fuck is ‘I wanna be a potato’. So you gotta be careful when buying things from them. Sometimes, it sets you off your aesthetic radar. But if you fuck with it, sure, buy it. I’m just awfully careful about things I buy from them. Although, you could get your essentials from there too. Like plain leather jackets, sweatpants, hoodies, socks, and denim jackets. 

4. Topman Socks. I’ve always been into quirky, weird socks. Everyone who knows me knows that. I fuck with plain socks too but I love the loud ones. It’s mandatory for me to check Topman if they got anything I could wear. Sometimes though, it gets little too much. Like a little too unnecessarily loud. But then, when they DO make really pretty socks, I freak out. 

STREETWEAR BRANDS: 

International: 

Supreme: I fuck with Supreme so much. It’s probably one of the most popular street brands here. Even with it’s simple yet overused bogo (box logo), not everyone can still wear it. I can’t even wear Supreme all the time. Hell, I can’t even afford it. But I fuck with it so much. 

Odd Future/Golf Wang attire: Not everyone knows what the pink donut stands for. But when you do, you fucks with the vision. HAHAHA Joking aside, most of the inspirations of my aesthetic comes from Golf Wang. Not just the brand but also the group Odd Future. Tyler The Creator became one of my biggest fashion icons. He still is until today. He got me into the whole dressing like a tito/lolo deal. He got me into awkward cut jeans and socks with them. He got me into ugly clothing making them look pretty. 

Stussy: I get real fucking picky when it comes to Stussy. Sometimes, wearing the logo doesn’t cut it unless it’s looks good on the shirt. But most of the time, Stussy’s ballin’. I don’t have a lot of Stussy stuff. But I love the way it remains its cleanliness on the design. 

Thrasher: I’m a self proclaimed Thrasher kid. I fuck with Thrasher high-key. The shirts I got are from Zumiez. I bought them from the states. Some of them are bought by my dad, my friends, and my boyfriend. All from Zumiez or online, I guess. I fuck with Thrasher so hard. I don’t even care if everyone else is wearing it. It’s just so good. 

Vans/Converse/Adidas: I’m sneaker trash. I’m really into skate shoes. I don’t even fucking skate, man. I��m really fucking into them. I don’t just get pretty colors and pretty designs. I get the ones I am willing to wear more than once. I get the ones I can wear with all outfits. I’m also really picky with them though. Like if I see sunflowers on sneakers, I’ll think it’s cute, but I won’t get it. Only because I wouldn’t know what to wear with them. Disclaimer: I like trainers but I don’t really run. Hahaha. And Nike’s are cute. But the only sneakers I like from Nike are the Air Force 1′s and the OG Air Jordan 1′s. 

REMINDER: I DON’T FUCKING SKATE. BUT I LOVE DRESSING LIKE A SKATER. DON’T FUCKING LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T WEAR THIS AND THAT BECAUSE YOU DON’T DO THIS AND THAT. FUCK ALL OF THEM. WEAR WHAT YOU THINK LOOKS PRETTY ON YOUR EYES, ALRIGHT?

Local: 

Wednesday: I fuck with Wednesday for real. They’re designs are never off. Every release has a meaning. And it’s a shirt you could wear over and over again. They don’t have an actual category. But you’ll clearly see that what do they is art. I fuck with Wednesday HARD. 

Gnarly!: Gnarly is one of the most popular streetwear brands in the Philippines. I can’t believe how much it’s grown into. I’m honestly so fucking proud of it. I love how Gnarly knows how to stick with its consistent style but still knows how to be diverse with their releases. I love how it doesn’t cater to only one scene but everyone else could wear it. I fuck with the minimal designs and the loud colors. 

Now with colors: I don’t barricade myself with just 5 colors. I always explore patterns and more loud colors. I love being colorful. I can’t deal with just a black and white fit. (Unless, I’m sad) I love exploring new things with fashion. 

You don’t necessarily have to copy your fashion icon’s fits all the time. But inspire yourself with what they have. Then make your own thing.

today, february 10th, 2017, marks the one-year anniversary of this blog. that is absolutely unreal!!! i have compiled a list of “thank you” paragraphs that came from my heart. here is the first:

to you (my followers and mutuals): thank you for staying with me on this journey from when i first started as a pastel haikyuu blog to now! all of you have encouraged me to become the person i am today, and i am so thankful for every single one of you.

you’re all such a ginormous part of my life, and you don’t even realize it. i get notifications on my phone (which i carry around everywhere) whenever someone likes/reblogs my posts, sends me an ask/message, or follows me, so i see everything. i take these notifications as reminders that someone out there is validating me and actually likes what i post and/or wants to interact with me. it gives me warm feelings inside and motivates me to keep blogging!

in addition, i love having you all to fall back on. i remember when i posted about failing one of my math exams, and i was (lovingly) bombarded with messages, asks, and replies filled with positivity and encouragement for the next test. that meant so much to me that i literally cried tears of joy. also, i received so many kind messages when i posted my hiatus post a few days ago; it meant the whole world to me. whenever i feel down, i always think about every nice thing that each of you have said to me and i become filled with contentment. you all are constantly on my mind & i am so grateful for having all of you in my life.

again, thank you so much for sticking with me. tumblr is such a big part of my existence and brings me so much happiness and enjoyment -- it wouldn’t if it weren’t for you: the people on this website. despite all of my flaws, like not being active and taking very long to reply, you’ve stayed with me. i have so much love for every single one of you. i wish i could give you a big hug (or a nice high-five/thumbs up if you’re not comfortable with hugs)!! here’s to another year <3

Last movie I watched: Arrival and The Secret Life of Pets on the same day. They were alright, neither one is my new favorite but I don’t want to spoil anything that I liked about them either. Before that, I saw Megamind on TV, and I think that actually might be.

Last TV show I watched: Star Trek Voyager, which I've been rewatching almost every night due to one of our syndication channels picking it up, though I had started doing so on Netflix anyway. I grew up with this and I still love it.

Why did I choose my URL?: It was a goofy Craig Ferguson inspired name I used sometimes in MMOs and League of Legends to come off as the "LOUD HERO IS HERE FOR GREAT JUSTICE! DID SOMEONE ORDER A LARGE HAM?" type of player (though pretending to be like that is tiring lol), and a name I was going to switch to since Aquamentus is owned by Nintendo. Now I just go by MrAquamentus because that's the name YouTube autosuggested for me when Aquamentus was taken, and I'll probably switch my URL to that one of these days. Then I'll answer this question again for that URL

Gender: a dragon-man

Hogwarts House: Probably Ravenclaw. Yep, just took a test to confirm. I definitely respect Hufflepuff but I don't think I am one

Favourite characters: Twilight Sparkle and Spike (MLPFIM) and The Doctor (Who), on some points of their rollercoaster rides of writing quality and character development. Dream job: I've always been drawn to making games, filling my notepads and computers with levels, enemies, concepts, formulas, etc. but not being a particularly gifted artist or coder. Some part of me has also just wanted to run an independent shop of some kind, though. Especially a buy/sell/trade card game shop with tables for people to play at that hosts tournaments and shit, that’d be fantastic. Just the idea of things like deciding on prices and coming up with special daily deals and choosing what music to play all sound like fun. I used to be interested in being a golf course designer, but that's kind of a subset of "level design for a game I enjoyed" really, just IRL with a huge budget

Number of blankets I sleep with: Like three, usually using one of them for neck support
