my favourite headcanon about fusions (whether potara or metamoran) is that whenever they do it and then get separated it, they kinda miss being together? which would explain why goku's kinda clingy towards vegeta after they get separated inside buu's body(? and if we take as an example goten and trunks, who are super besties and they are not oblivious/tsunderes like their dads, it would also explain why they're always so eager to fuse, cause they like the connection

Goku, upon Trunks and Goten coming out: "But how do two guys...uh...y'know? Eh, whatever makes you happy! Hey, you'll have a buffet at the wedding, right?"

(Also, while he's not the very sentimental type, I think even he would be a little touched that he and Bulma, his very oldest friend, are part of the same family now.)

Bahaha of course Goku had really nothing else on his mind but food. I totally agree about the one family thing though. There was that one time in DBZ that Bulma mused about how she missed her chance with Goku, so I think that she would look at the newlyweds TruTen and look back at that moment and realize Goku and her will become family one way or another. Like there's something magnetic about her genes and his genes and there's nothing they could really do to stop their descendants from getting along and ultimately fusing the two families into one. She would think that fate really has it way of turning things out, and she can't say she mind it one bit as she is now as happy as she could be.

Goku of course wouldn't think all that, but yeah he would all be like, "Gosh Bulma and Vegeta, I guess being in-laws makes us family now!" Vegeta would be absolutely fuming and seething at the statement and would only calm down once he thinks about his two sons (yes Vegeta sees Goten as one of his own in my eyes. Not in a too sentimental and accepting way but he tolerates the kid enough and then eventually you see a Vegeta acknowleging Goten by his name and caring about the boy's opinion of himself such as asking if Goten likes his moustache in GT.) And Vegeta obviously cares about Trunks' happiness and well-being too, so if he said something to object to this idea ("You're enamoured with this dumb brat?") and Trunks stood up during dinner with Goten's greasy, food-scattered fingers intertwined with his own, shouting, "But Daddy Papa I love him!", he would discard all of his past efforts to give a shit about his son's romantic interest and just, "Alright do whatever you want, at least he's a warrior and you're a warrior." (something something Saiyan women being fiery and with fighting spirits something something Vegeta doesn't know which of them is the woman in this case but it's not applicable anyway because they're both men but oh well he ran out of fucks to give at this point).

But he used his (fake) disapproving overprotective dad attitude to force them to give him something in order to get his approval of their relationship. He settled with them making sure the kids have traditional Saiyan names. They could very well be named 'Son Gohan the Third' or 'Vegeta the Fifth', but I took the liberty to explore other vegetable names.

Chichi took a lot of convincing before she could begin to accept the idea that her son is into men/his best friend. She would freak out over not having anymore grandchildren. When they managed to assure her she will have a grandkid with the power of Shenlong, she worries that the kid would fade away and vanish should Shenlong's existence is erased or some other threats to the universe. Only when she holds the little baby girl breathing and living and squeaking in her arms is her mind at ease.

twin-tailed Gotenks is just always gonna be part of my art forever. it just adds to the idea that Gotenks isnt an individual, but rather a union of two people. the fact that hes a person formed by a bond is essential to who he is and how he acts. because he loves being fused! and he loves being himself, because he gets to be with his favorite person (either Goten or Trunks depending on the perspective youre with), and he refers to himself as two people often and others use plural "they" for him, and its just. theres no need for individuality for him, because Goten and Trunks are already so close. and its very sweet.

(contrast that with Vegeta and Goku's fusions, and both of them are more in line with being an individual rather than a union. which is super interesting. and its also why i will only ever draw Gogeta and Vegito with one tail rather than two ..)

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 33-36

I don’t think I’ve ever related to Goku more than I do right now.

We’re now in the “New Space-Time War” arc of Super Dragon Ball Heroes.  The previous arc saw Fu become the King of the Demon Realm and create his own universe, and nobody really stopped him, so I assume this arc will just keep following that plotline.  My main question is this:  What was the Old Space-Time War?  Or does “New Space-Time” refer to the new universe Fu created?

This arc is only eight episodes, and I’m only four episode in and it’s a complete trainwreck.  Every few seconds someone else shows up and it’s either a mystery man in disguise, or a surprise cameo, or some other damn thing that doesn’t make any sense.  We open with this dude looking out over the uninhabited Earth in the New Universe, but he doesn’t actually do anything.

Not far away, Goku is being chased through the empty West City by two spaceships. As he runs, he gets a message from Tokitoki City, where Trunks explains to him that Goku is currently inside the new universe Fu created, but it’s just a bad copy of Universe 7, which is why it has the same Earth and the same West City, but no people.

And somehow, the new universe and U7 are connected somehow.  When Goku’s pursuers shoot at a nearby building, the same building in the real West City experiences the same damage. 

As Trunks mulls this over, Xeno Pan tends to Xeno Goten and Xeno Gohan.  So these four characters must have escaped the Universe Tree somehow.  Since Goku was fused with Vegeta before he arrived in the new universe, it stands to reason that Vegeta is also in the new universe.  That just leaves Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta unaccounted for.

This is dumb as hell.  These two haven’t done jack shit in this whole series, so I don’t know why we’re wasting screen-time on them.

It turns out Cooler and Frieza were in those ships that were chasing Goku.  When Goku flees the city to find a place to regroup, they ditch the ships and chase after him with their own power.  But then some mysterious force stops them in their tracks and it’s...

... Hearts, who died in Episode 19.  He explains that he was freed from Hell by Demigra, although he doesn’t seem to know who Demigra is.  Hearts wants to team up with Goku to oppose Fu, since Hearts disapproves of the way Fu has been using the Universe Seed.  Goku isn’t convinced, but he doesn’t have much choice, since Frieza and Cooler are still after him. 

Goku manages to overwhelm Golden Frieza with Ultra Instinct, while Hearts seems to fight evenly with Golden Metal Cooler.  I was going to point out that Hearts used to be a lot stronger than this, but he was using the Universe Seed to amplify his powers, so I guess it makes sense for him to be weaker now.

Then someone throws red Dragon Balls at Frieza and Cooler, and they get turned into rampaging maniacs.  When Demigra released Hearts, he told him about this.  They’re called “Dark Dragon Balls” and they can be used to turn warriors into berserkers.  But before Goku and Hearts can deal with that...

... Broly shows up and attacks everyone, because of course he does.   

This doesn’t bother the guy who threw the Dark Dragon Balls, though, since he only seems to want the fight to continue.  If Broly wants to jump in uninvited, that’s fine with him. 

Then the other mystery man that we saw before shows up and removes the Dark Dragon Balls from Frieza and Cooler, then he challenges Broly, and leads him away from Goku and Hearts.  Goku asks Hearts who that guy is, and Hearts says that he tried to read his mind, but he couldn’t.

The Crimson Masked Saiyan withdraws as well, and Hearts gives Goku a senzu bean.  He found it on this Earth, but since it restores Goku’s strength and stamina, he concludes that the copies of objects work the same way they do in the real world.  So Hearts believes that the Dragon Balls of this Earth will work as well.  He already has one of them, and Goku knows how to find the rest.

He finds the Dragon Radar in the Capsule Corp. building, but when he turns it on, he gets a reading from a second Dragon Ball directly overhead.  I guess this is a different planet, but up here we find the Crimson Masked Saiyan forcing Vegeta, Cumber, and Turles to fight each other.

Vegeta’s been getting his ass kicked, because Cumber was always a handful, and Turles has eaten so much Tree of Might fruit that he’s got Radditz hair now. 

Goku and Hearts show up to save Vegeta, and the Crimson Masked Saiyan turns Super Saiyan Pink, which immediately gives away that he’s just Goku Black.  Why the mask, then?

While the Gokus fight, Turles infuses Vegeta with evil power and tries to convince him to be evil.  I guess he and Cumber are in cahoots now?  I don’t understand this.

Vegeta struggles against this energy, and he has a flashback montage of various key moments like when he killed Nappa and massacred that Namekian villiage, and when he died to Frieza and watched Goku fight Kid Buu.   At last he goes into action, and Turles realises that Vegeta has somehow taken control of this “evil” power. 

He whoops Turles’ ass and explains that evil is not the true nature of the Saiyans.  Rather, the true nature of their people is to keep fighting, and to strive for greater strength.  Cumber sees Vegeta riding high and he wants to take him on...

So Vegeta whoops Cumber’s ass too.  Hell yeah!  It’s about time they gave Vegeta a hero moment in this series. 

Vegeta Galick Guns Cumber and his mask falls off.  Cumber salutes Vegeta for turning the evil aura into his own power without succumbing to its corruption, and then he passes out.  Fuck yeah!

Vegeta tells Turles to get stronger and challenge him again sometime if he’s got the stones.  I think that challenge is open to Cumber too, but he’s too busy sleeping off the last beating he took.

But Black has defeated Goku, and when Vegeta turns his attention to him, he learns Black’s backstory.  Of course, the Goku Black we know fused with the other Zamasu and their merged form was erased by Grand Zeno, then they somehow came back to life and got killed by Hearts.  This Goku Black is different.  He’s from some other timeline or dimension or whatever, and Fu found him before he could go on to be defeated and warned him of his fate. 

To avoid that impending defeat, this Goku Black traveled through different timelines, defeating one Goku after another.  The Goku he’s beaten just now is his 100th victory, and he declares that he now has achieved complete mastery of his body.

Vegeta tries to stop him, but his new power-up quits on him, and Black observes that he hasn’t fully mastered it yet.  But before Black can take advantage of this...

“Bitch, you thought--”

Yeah, Goku’s back in Ultra Instinct, and he just demolishes Black.  This web anime has a lot of flaws, but I’ll give it credit for doing what Dragon Ball Super was too cowardly to do.  SDBH actually lets good guys clobber the shit out of Zamasu and Black.  And it’s incredibly satisfying to watch, because one of the things that made the Zamasu Saga so shitty was that Goku and the others would attack and attack and Black and Zamasu would just no-sell all of it and keep smirking like assholes.  Not in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, though.  Jiren beats up Zamasu, Hearts kills Zamasu, and not Goku eats Black’s lunch with Ultra Instinct.

So Black withdraws, realizing that if this Goku can improve, then he must still have some work to do before he’s ready to carry on with his agenda.  But to dispense with the others, he fires a blast at the planet to destroy it... wait, is that the Vengeance Cannon?  Fuck you, Goku Black, that’s a Luffa move!  I’ll sue!  I’ll sue every Kai in Universe 10, you plagiarizing piece of shit!

Hearts picks up Cumber because he still wants to work with the guy, so all four them can escaper together, except Goku can’t teleport because there’s no ki signatures for him to lock on to.  Remember, this universe is uninhabited, so there’s almost no one around.  But then--!

Awwww yeah!

Awwwwwwwwwww yeeeeeeeeeeeeah!  It’s Cell, everybody!  This is automatically the best arc in the series!

Black tries to kill them before Cell can do anything, but Turles blindsides him first, and it looks like Black kills Turles, but while he’s busy doing that, Cell gets everyone out of there.

So back on... Earth, I guess?  The uninhabited Earth in this New Universe, I mean.  Cell explains that the same guy who freed Hearts from Hell also freed Cell.  I guess Demigra arranged all of this to get Goku some reinforcements for the battle against Fu.  All I know for certain about Demigra’s role in this is that he’s opposed to Mechikabura’s Dark Empire, and so he would be equally opposed to Towa’s plot to revive the Dark Empire with Fu as Mechikabura’s successor.  As to why he would turn to Cell for help, well... Demigra’s got excellent taste, what else can I say?

Look at how pissed these two idiots are.  ���Tell us why you saved us, Cell!” When Hearts offered to team up with Goku, he was confused, but accepted his help.  When he recruited Frieza for the Tournament of Power, Goku was at least cordial with the guy.  But Cell?  Fuck all that.  They hate Cell, and they should.  Cell kicked both their asses, and he killed Goku and then he killed Vegeta’s son.  He’s not some guy you can work with like Frieza.  Cell’s a weapon, and all he does is pick targets to attack.  All he cares about is how much fun he’ll have in the process.   Goku and Vegeta see this guy and they know he can’t be trusted.

Goku’s like “You want to throw down, is that it?” and Cell doesn’t reject that possibility.  Oh, he’ll get to that, but first he needs to explain some stuff, I guess, but before he can do that...

... Well, I guess some other asshole shows up, but we don’t even get to see this one, so I guess we’ll have to wait until next time to find out what’s going on.  That’s okay, because Cell’s back, everyone.

"That's good, at least one of us keeping up with our training properly haha," Gohan replied with a light laugh. He felt bad for not training more, but he had to work and had a family to support. As much as staying strong to keep the planet safe, the whole thing with Buu reassured him that at worst, they could rely on Goten and Trunks, especially with their fusion as Gotenks.

"Mister Buu huh, is he still staying with Hercule?" he asked curiously. It was also reassuring that they had this Good Buu on their side now, who was practically indestructible with that regeneration ability of his. "You know if he's training too?"

"As for that last part, we've been training with him, but Majin Buu sees us training with as us playing with him." Goten said about how Majin Buu sees training, especially with the two Saiyans.

"Also, Majin Buu introduced us to a kid named Tommy. He said he healed him of his blindness before he split into two Buus."

"Oh yeah. Still keeping with him, brother!" Goten replied with a bright smile. While he and Trunks have been best buddies since they first met, the two of them never miss a chance to train to be strong. "Not just that, we also got to spend some time with Mr. Buu."

Miscellaneous Facts about the Quartet

I have a bunch of random facts that are canon to me about my Pan, Bulla, Kuriza, and Cell Junior. A lot of them will never see the light of day in my series, so I might as well jot them down here.

Bulla likes collecting old school, 'retro' technology and toys (e.g. lollipop phones, password-locked diaries etc.)

Junior enjoys listening to Nicki Minaj (the only real-world pop star with a counterpart in the DB world)

Kuriza doesn't know the specifics of Arcosian asexual reproduction

Kuriza's favourite planet before Earth was Freeza Planet 32, a planet full of tall trees and luscious rainforest

Pan dislikes her mother's cooking even though Gohan loves it

Pan has a bigger manipulative streak than Bulla, contrary to popular belief

Junior is a prodigy at anything arts related

In terms of combat power, from weakest to strongest: Pan, Kuriza, Bulla, Junior

In terms of battle prowess/technique, from weakest to strongest: Kuriza, Bulla, Pan, Junior

Junior is the fusion that resulted from all the Cell Juniors on Monster Island fusing into one (after seeing Trunks and Goten do the fusion dance during their time there) and then never unfusing due to them all being genetically identical

Junior has a bigger appetite than the others

Kuriza has the smallest appetite

Kuriza enjoys seafood the best

Bulla's favourite colour is pink

Junior knows exactly how Arcosian asexual reproduction goes, but he won't tell Kuriza about it

Junior doesn't enjoy spending time with Pan's family because he feels Gohan and Videl don't like him

Pan's favourite food are the burgers from Mr Satan World (a fast food chain her family owns)

As of Dominion, Pan is the only one of the quartet to attend a regular human school

Bulla was pulled out of kindergarten at a young age as she was too ahead of her peers and could not connect with them

Junior, Bulla, and Kuriza attend school together at Capsule Corp., taught by specialised teachers hired and thoroughly screened by Bulma herself

Kuriza got into Freeza's wine stash once and got absolutely wasted over half a bottle of it

Pan has a wide collection of fictional books and a whole section of her family's library dedicated to them

Bulla is not interested in fiction, and only reads non-fiction

Junior wants to learn electric guitar

Junior thinks skateboarding is cool, but also thinks it doesn't go fast enough

Junior plans to attach rocket boosters to a skateboard at some point and try it out

The one who does best at traditional schooling is Pan

In terms of raw intelligence, however, Bulla is unchallenged

Bulla struggles to feel empathy

Socially, Pan is the most well-adjusted

Bulla listens to Ann Azuki, even though she is considered to be outdated and about to retire from the idol scene

Pan likes ballads

Kuriza likes instrumental music

Both Bulla and Junior have photographic memories

Junior does the best in high-pressure situations

The one with the shortest temper is Bulla, though she is quick to forgive and forget in most circumstances

Pan has a slow, deep style of anger that takes a while to manifest; she holds grudges and will not usually forgive people who have wronged her

Pan is the reigning champion of the Junior Division (which made a return after the 28th) from the 29th to 30th World Tournament, securing her latest title just months before the events of Dominion

Junior spent approximately 4 years in the wild by himself before he was discovered by Android 17

Kuriza was born from Freeza alone, an outlier in Arcosian reproduction as asexual reproduction is a last resort of their species; despite this, they are somehow not genetically identical

Bulla and Kuriza are baseball fans, much to Yamcha's bemusement (but overall delight)

Pan loves and respects martial arts the most out of all of them

Pan is the only one of the quartet to have friends outside of their group

Junior has a phone that has a cover with the pattern of Cell's skin on it

How does Goten feel when he reflects on the Majin Buu saga? Like do you think it deeply affected him?

I wonder because within the course of a day he:

1.) Meets his father for the first time

2.) He loses his brother and mother to buu

3.) He gets absorbed

4.) He's saved from the absorption only to die and go to otherworld

Granted he lives along with everyone else when it's all said and done. Plus he gets his dad back, but still. He had only known peace times since he was born so this would more or less be his introduction to all of the chaos.

I'd also love to know your thoughts on Trunks (if you have any) for pretty much the same reasons - granted he was raised by Vegeta so he may have been a little harder to crack

I feel like Goten was severely messed up from Majin Buu, at least for a while.

I actually wrote a whole fic on this exact premise, Ghosts From the Past! Goten has a nightmare of Buu, reliving his mom being killed, being absorbed and feeling he failed everyone.

When he was little I imagine he'd cling to his parents and Gohan, feeling like he'd turn around and they'd all be dead again. Like that poor kid lost his whole family in the span of an hour. It's horrible what he went through and nobody really pays attention to it. He sleeps n his parents room and is like Goku's shadow pretty much.

When the family goes to visit Videl/Mr Satan, Goten gets upset at seeing Fat Buu at first because he associates him with Super Buu, until he finally sees that fat Buu is nice

But yeah I do think that Trunks has similar trauma, especially since they were fused when the goo jumped Gotenks. Trunks definitely keeps it in and tries not to cry or show emotion about it. After that hug from Vegeta he gets more affectionate with his parents and is a little nicer to Goten and hangs out with him more, they distract each other from the thoughts of stuff going wrong again.

hey remember when i talked a lot about maté and Trunks and Goten and maté? I think while the whole maté situation is calming down they would fuse again for reasons that they don't even know-

they really just do that shit sometimes at this point and being Gotenks is a 30 minute gamble cuz he either does something awesome or spends them all watching the spiderman movie trilogy via a 30 minute ytph (hispanic youtube poop, i mention the hispanic part because there is literally a 30 minute ytph of spiderman on youtube and i watched it in one of my most deranged states possible, such as the one i'm writing this to you in) and like they don't even remember the ytph clearly so it wasn't even worth it like what the fuck Gotenks we're never fusing again (they fuse again a couple of days later)

Ok the point was they would stop their Maté Cold War and fuse again and when they unfused they would find themselves in the capsule kitchen surrounded by wet yerba (the plant yknow that maté is) and like sugar and water all over the floor and its a huge fucking mess and there's a maté cup turned over and the thermos is on the floor too and there's a broken glass juice jar with ice that hasn't melted yet and their mouths taste like grass and have no fucking clue what just happened.

They never really find out but they know it must have been bad, absolutely fucking terrible even, and after getting like scolded and made to clean GOTENKS' mess they decide to put their stupid maté aside for GOOD and now they get together to drink it like normal fucking people and now Trunks makes terere for Goten on purpose and he's like "yo dude i made this for you" because he has chilled out (about the maté thing not about anything else) and Goten would be like "haha aww you do give a shit Trunks oh my god" and they would be normal about maté. except not really. because those boys have a primal strangeness to them that i don't think will ever go away, and that's like, awesome i think, it's lovely even.

Goku and Vegeta attempting to have maté together alongside everyone else and probably fail miserably because they are. them. you know them. Also Goku would probably drink maté with sugar and Vegeta would fucking hate that i think

"Yamcha is there" is open to interpretation but i personally think he would have a look at Trunks preparing the maté and he'd be pleasantly surprised.. Also he's one of those guys that puts extra herbs and stuff on maté like orange peels or a little coffee or sweetens his with burnt sugar caramel....

Yamcha is very gaucho-esque to me in a very special way like he's a lot like Goku in the way they both have this very warm welcoming rural aura to them but Yamcha is more like my grandma that would go to the countryside of Santiago Del Estero and come back with ostrich eggs?? and would make me omelettes with ostrich eggs sometimes?? and let me keep the eggshell and paint it and stuff- Yamcha would do that to trunks he would go to the countryside and be back with something for him and he'd tell him tips about making maté and stories about the animals and stuff cuz i would be like 8 years old and my grandma would be back from Santiago and she'd be like "i killed a chicken :) and we ate it" and i'd be like woow grandma thats so awesome you're so cool and i think Yamcha would be back and he'd be like "Que onda pibe adivina que te traje del campo?"(what's up kid, guess what i brought you from the countryside?) and maybe he'd bring him like-

They both secretly are missing the days when they used to make youtube poops together, and so Gotenks watches that spiderman ytph. Their past maté disagreements are incurring subtle rifts in their bond and the silence regarding is beginning to ache, so Gotenks unwittingly mobilizes to address & negotiate with this distress by trying to make maté POORLY in the capsule kitchen.

UM GOKU LITERALLY WOULD DO THAT LIKE .. obviously tastes change with age but I'm thinking about how in the original dragon ball he thought that bulma's coffee was "bitter soup" and while I think that Goku is a Classy and Respectable man, and lives life authentically and organically, and probably drinks maté like a proper gaucho, I Would Not Be Surprised if actually he doctored that shit up with sugar .

And Vegeta would be mad no matter WHAT Goku does . He would be like "why do you put sugar in it, kakarot ..!" and then be like "quit hogging it, kakarot..!"

Goten and Trunks were finished with school for the day, and they began to fly by Hercule Satan's Mansion to see if they could play with Majin Buu and Tommy.

What are y'all's thoughts about DBS chapter 96? It was okay to me. But there is some good and "bad."

(Didn't post this when I made it either. Think I got lazy or forgetful with this one.)

BAD:

When Orange Piccolo punches Gamma 2. The start up was weak & it looked like it lacked impact. Art was fine, but the flow of motion was... It left a lot to be desired.

The panel where Pan kicks Carmine is just bad. It was taken straight from the film so the posing isn't bad. What's bad is that it cuts off the top half of Pan's head. Paneling could've been better. Get rid of panel 5 from page 16 and move panel 1 from page 17 to page 16. That would make it look better.

The joke about Gohan not being able to see could've been shortened. First he couldn't tell who Goten & Trunks were. That's fine. Chuck it up to Gohan not seeing them for a while and couldn't recognize them without his glasses. But with Krillin... Can't Gohan just recognize Krillin's voice? It ain't like Krillin's changed. Then Gohan drops the senzu because he can't see. The joke was a bit overemphasized & stretched out. Either get rid of the instance with Goten & Trunks or the one with Krillin. The film had Gohan search for his glasses and then drop a senzu. That's it. But that's just my personal opinion. Others may feel it was the right amount of jokes & wasn't over emphasized at all.

The Gammas vs Cell Max felt a bit stiff (art wise) with the combat. I would suggest more motion blur instead of speed lines. The speed lines don't always work to convey movement for every pose. It has to be the right angle and such.

Trunks is missing teeth...

GOOD:

Hedo chasing Magenta in the carts was a neat alteration. But Hedo still doesn't feel like a guy who was somewhat manipulated like he was in the film. Hedo in the manga was a little terrorist. He attacked a school, attempted murder on kids other than super powered ones like Goten & Trunks, damaged property, & body snatching.

Magenta telling Hedo to wait when he's taking off his suit was funny to me.

Cell Max was drawn really well & detailed in that close up when the giant creature shouts. Idk why ppl were trying to say Toriyama did that. Toyotaro's thing is to do a lot of detail on a few panels.

Piccolo's angry face when Gohan dropped the senzu was funny. Now I do wonder if Toriyama had his hand in that panel.

The Saiyamen X part at the end... Its whatever. I don't mind it. I just didn't like the prequel story about the Saiyamen X. The next chapter will likely have my attention more than this one did. Goten & Trunks fighting Cell Max before they fuse is kinda interesting. IF they fuse in the manga (they do). Or they may get the fusion right (they don't). The Gammas & the others fighting should be interesting too. I bet the chapter will end right before Gohan transforms into his Beast mode or right after (I was wrong, Toyo stretches the story a bit more).

However... I suspect Krillin drop-kicking Cell Max won't happen in the manga (I was right). Toyo might make Krillin the comic relief instead of Gotenks. So that means taking positive scenes away from Krillin & giving it to another character (scenes were taken away). But he will likely have the scene where he saves 18 with a Kienzan still (yup). Worst case scenario, Toyo will make the Kienzan break when it hits Cell Max to reference an inaccurate filler scene in DBZ. (Didn't happen thankfully. But what happened was subpar compared to the film)

Watched Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on a whim the other night. Things I liked:

Pan. She had so much fun whenever she was with Papa or Grandpa Piccolo! Not so much when they were both busy fighting the giant monster, but hey.

The movie focuses on Piccolo, Gohan, and Pan instead of Goku and Vegeta.

Magenta's rant about how Capsule Corp is clearly just a front for a coalition of alien invaders working to control the Earth. It's 90% recognizable conspiratorial nonsense (minus the antisemitism and unpleasant context) and 10% weird sh*t that's just canon.

Despite the Red Ribbon Army's advanced intelligence-gathering tech, they still consider Mr. Satan to be a threat on par with Goku or Vegeta.

Piccolo has a house now!

Super Sai-ants.

Gamma 1's occasional moments of genre savvy. The first thing he says is "You say you killed King Piccolo? Did you look for the body?"

The Gammas in general, really. Especially the background squabbling-siblings moments.

All the new characters have such delightful, quirky personalities. Dragon Ball is at its best when it's a comedy series spiced with action.

Piccolo doing that thing Frieza did in the Broly movie where he hurt Paragus to make Broly get a rage-induced power-up, just without actually hurting Pan.

I can't talk much about Max Cell without ruining the positive tone I'm aiming for here, but I like the way he serves as a fulcrum of conflict between Magenta and Dr. Hedo, and that his design makes Semi-Perfect Cell look intimidating. (And not just by virtue of being kaiju-sized.)

One storyboard artist really liked the idea of the Z-fighters jumping off of high things in skydiving poses before activating their flight, and the higher-ups were right to let them do it twice.

Namekian stretchy-arms and gigantification return! Piccolo even uses both at the same time! More Dragon Ball fight scenes should use weird little abilities like that; stretchy arms aren't gonna win a fight Piccolo would lose otherwise, but they make a fight scene more unique and interesting.

The animation is good, the haters just noticed that it's CG.

Pan. She's adorable.

Things I didn't like:

Enough "Ha ha, Dr. Hedo/Gotenks is fat" jokes to stand out as a Thing.

Act 3 is basically just one overstuffed fight scene.

Cell Max is fine as a plot point and setpiece, I guess, but also not interesting.

There is no way Goten and Trunks haven't been fusing for fun enough to remember how it works. If they messed up because they were rushing or because of a disruption from the active action scene or something, that would be one thing, but suggesting that they're just rusty is...kinda dumb.

Gohan's new transformation feels like that form Future Trunks got in the Goku Black arc, in that it's an unexplained power-up he randomly got that I assume is meant to justify him fighting god-tier foes, but they didn't want to give him Super Saiyan God or Blue because reasons. My feelings about Orange Piccolo are similar, but with more understanding about why they didn't give him an existing Super Saiyan form and less irritation about being an obvious retread of the Super Saiyan 2 transformation bit in the Cell arc.

Also, Gohan's new transformation's hair. On one hand, it's among the most obvious ways that said transformation is calling back to the SSJ2 transformation against Cell, which is irritating. On the other hand, it also looks absurd. It's just...scale up Gohan's preteen hairstyle by 250% and make it gray. Why gray? And why make it that big? If it had gone full SSJ3 I might have liked it, but it doesn't go far enough, and the hair stays too stiff, like it doesn't realize it's three feet long and should be pulled down by gravity.

Basically every scene on Beerus's planet, and not just because Goku and Vegeta were there. It's good to establish why they're not coming in to save the day, but they didn't need to spend so much time on it! And they definitely didn't have to use that time on a pointless fight scene and Beerus flirting with Cheelai!

Gohan getting more focus? Getting to be a character who's important to the plot? I like that! The interpretation of that idea as "Gohan needs to focus on training instead of studying all the time"? Not so much. At least it was mixed in with a dash of "You're so focused on the academic stuff that you're neglecting your family, too," which is a less frustrating point.

Shenron roars into the scenario, bringing it into the Alternate Timeline, where Fused Zamasu was too powerful against Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks

Fused Zamasu: Soon, the Zero Mortal Plan will finally be completed

Goku looks up, determined to not lose

Goku: No! I can’t let this happen!

Supreme Kai: Goku, I have an idea!

Goku: What is it?

Supreme Kai: The Potara Earrings, you and Vegeta can fuse to beat him, like you did with Majin Buu

WHY DEATH BATTLE SHOULD DO Goku Black VS. Mephile (Dragon Ball VS. Sonic)

Now if you don't know I'm a fan of Death Battle it's one of my favorite online shows, today I'm going to explain why Death Battle should make this matchup into an episode, so let's get started.

1. But first I want to explain I personally want this matchup the most. It started last year when I saw Xeno Trunks VS. Archie Silver and how disagreed with the outcome since there were powerscalers that explained and showed why Trunks should have won, whitch remainded me of Goku Black VS. Reverse Flash and how they did Goku Black, his analasys was preety bad and not meantion Goku Black should have won whitch I plan on explaining one day, but overall Death Battle didn't do Goku Black justice and I really wanted him to return, but then the question was how was going to face off against Black if he did return, there were good opponents but the problem is the fact that I was interested in most of them and I didn't know most of them there were opponents that I know and one of them was Scourge that I really liked but in the end I felt like there was a matcup that I really wanted but didn't know what it was, but then a few weeks ago I watch videos about Mephiles and Goku Black and then thought about how simillar they were and that's when I got the idea and realized that Goku Black VS. Mephiles was the matchup that I was looking for, it's a matchup with a lot of connections and it's one with both villains being one of if not my favorite in there respective series.

2. With that sead let's talk about the connections. Deities that take on the appearance of famous hero’s from their world(Goku and Shadow). Both aim to bring destruction to the mortal world. They both have destroyed the future and end up meeting the hero’s of the past and the one they copied through time travel. During the battle they both end up being sealed but they escape. They both reveal a terrible revelation to the hero they stole their appearance from ( Goku Black tells Goku he killed Chichi and Goten and Mephiles tells Shadow that the world will betray him again). They both work together with their other self to bring their plans to reality. They both are at odds with a time traveling hero(Trunks and Silver). Both have killed world famous heroes(Goku/Bulma/Sonic). They both fuse with their other self to become a monsterous force of nature bringing all types of calamity throughout space and time in the universe. They both are defeated by being erased from all space and time. They also have the ability to time travel and make clones of themselves. Both of their stories are convoluted.

3. And let's talk about the animation and music potential of this matchup. First the music potential has the potential to be one of the greatest tracks, both Goku Black and Mephiles have excellent themes, imagine incorporating both off these caracters' music that would be wonderful. As for amimation there's a lot to talk about, these two have a lot of powers and abilities and not to meantion they can time travel so we can them using it and as for the death if Mephiles wins he's would be just stabing Black like he did to Sonic in Sonic 06, as for Goku Black there are two ways one being he just destroy Mephiles using he's ki since Mephiles is vulnerable to light or the second one being Goku Black travels back in time to erase Mephiles by doing what Sonic and Elise did. And as for the banter they could just throw insults at each other or they could impressed by the other since they are both gods.

4. Now how would win? Now this is tricky because of Mephiles' imortallity, now from what I heared Mephiles can't die whitch is a problem for Death Battle obviosly, but from my reserch it's possible that Mephiles can die and not to meantion that Iblis died and Iblis is Mephiles' other half, so it's possible that Mephiles can die and that imortallity means he can live long. If that's the case then I think Goku Black would win because Mephiles is weak light beased attacka and Black's aresenale is light based and not to meantion Goku Black at most low multiversal and Mephiles wile powerful was guned down by Omega and Shadow match Mephiles in his base form alone.

So yeah overall this matchup should happen and I would love if Death Battle did it.
