"It's not your problem if Kaveh's struggling with his color schemes, darling" he replies quickly, not even bothering to look up from the page in his book.

"Archons, Haitham, it's not like that. Just look at me and imagine what color I radiate :)

he sighs a little, closing the book but keeping his fingers between the pages. Even if he thinks it's a bit of a silly question, he does take a moment to let his eyes trace over you, shamelessly letting them linger on your lips too. for a second you think he's actually going to answer your question but then you see him failing to suppress a smirk and his gaze meets yours with an expression you can only describe as Are you serious?

"Humor me Alhaitham"

Alright, let me think.. he completely closes his book this time, placing it in front of him on his desk and rests his head on his hand

"Colors can actually invoke a lot of thoughts and impressions. Most people associate red with warmth, and passion, but also with danger or fear depending on the context. A lot of people view black as a masking color be it clothes to hide certain parts of yourself or the shadows in your nightmares, but you can also see it as a protective color as it doesn't reflect. Blue is usually related to the sea, the lighter tones with sunny mornings walking along the shore, darker tones of blue can relate to the deep cold unknown depth that's hidden from prying eyes......if I had to describe you a color..it would be green. Not necessarily because of the associations with it, wisdom, calmness, and hope. which do apply to you don't get me wrong, but green is my favorite color, and you're my favorite person. Simple as that. Now, care to read with me for a bit?

Kazuha

kazuha has been a bit gloomy as of lately. His usual flowery words have lost their petals, His leatherbound notebook has not made an appearance in a while, neither have the little poems he writes for you to wake up to, and his fingers are clean, not covered with his usual, and at this point, you believed to be permanent, ink stains. It's clear he's been going through the infamous writers block. something that most artist go through and also get out of but it's nonetheless an infuriating part of being an creative individual. But since Kazuha has made you his muse as he told you many many times before, who are you to not try and help inspire your lovely boyfriend.

It takes you a while of bringing him to random locations for sunset walks or stargazing and asking him random questions until one finally hits the spot. His eyes immediately lighting up as he turns to you with such a warm expression of love and adoration you're pretty sure your heart skipped a beat

"That's a very beautiful question, dove"

He takes a moment to think about it, eyes lovingly tracing over every little detail of you, the backlight of the sun, the glimmer of the waves shining in your eyes

"I don't think describing you as one color does you justice. You shift hues as softly and gently as the day shifts into night, and the sun makes place for the moon in the sky. But if I do have to say just one, I see hints of purple in you, but that could also be because the color reminds me of my hometown and everytime I look at you, my soul feels at home" He answers with a new found excitement in his voice

You often come down into the fortress to spend some time with him on his break. With both of you living on different levels of Fontaine, you'll take any chance you can get to be around him and even when it's not officially his break time, he could never say no to you....or tea time

That's why you're here now sitting on the edge of his desk as he hastily discared the paperwork to make room for the teapot and biscuits. As quickly as the tea flows, the conversation passes from deep and meaningful, romantic ones, to terrible jokes and banter as both of you just talk about whatever comes to mind.

So he doesn't raise an eyebrow when you ask him what colors remind him of you. it's quite endearing how he just goes along with whatever silly questions or requests you throw at him without making you feel embarrassed about it

"Interesting answer...why?"

"the colours remind me of the sun and the moon, and living at the bottom of the ocean here in the fortress we don't have either of those of course. You're the closest thing I have to feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin or experiencing calm atmosphere of the moonlight. And to be honest I prefer you over the real thing♡"

growing up, jack always looked up to big siblings. each holding a special place in his heart. but both of them we’re different. quinn was the one he went to about hockey, girls, and school. y/n was the one he went to for almost everything else.

maybe it was because of how she was always overprotective of him, quinn and luke. he felt closest to her. it was clear she was the favorite, for each brother.

��do you think y/n thinks about us a lot?” luke asked when she went off to college. jack gave luke a look. “of course she does, moron. it’s not like she could forget us.”

luke shrugged. “i just miss her.”

when we were younger, down in the park, honey making a lark of the misery.

“do you think y/n stops to think about us? like— do you think she sees something like the color red and think about us?” luke asked, sitting next to jack.

jack held a picture frame of him, luke, quinn and her on her highschool graduation day.

“maybe not that much— but i like to think she does.” jacks eyes flickered to luke then back to the picture.

luke let out a sigh. “do you remember the summer before she went to college? almost every other day she would take us to the park to just, forget. forget that she would be leaving.”

jack quietly laughed. “i can’t forget that. highlight of my summer, along with you tripping every time you climbed the rock wall and fell”

luke slapped his brothers arm. “fuck off”

you got shiny new friends since you left town. a tiny screens the only place i see you now. and i got nothing but well wishes for you.

jacks shoulders moved along with his laughter. then it went quiet. “i miss her. i hate that we only see her through a tiny screen.” he spoke.

“at least we can still see her. im jealous of quinn though.” luke added.

jack shrugged. “i am but im not. we got her for a few years, it was his turn now.”

“yeah— but permanently.” luke told.

the two stopped talking. looking at the picture. their older sister smiling happily at the camera with her arms wrapped around jack and luke. quinn stood on the end, arm wrapped around jack.

she stuck out like a sore thumb in the picture. her bright blue graduation gown and bright blue cap was a huge contrast to the mix of whites, blacks, reds and greens the boys wore.

along with her height. the heels she wore made her tower over the boys.

hey dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me? when it was calmer, skipping the prom just to piss off your mom and her pageant schemes.

laughter flooded through the quiet park. heels clicked against the sidewalk in a fast pace along with three other sets of feet running behind.

“moms so gonna kill you, sissy!” luke laughed.

you hunched over, hands on your knees as you caught your breath. luke leaned onto you, trying to catch his breath as jack and quinn stifled their laughs.

“she spent so much on this dress, and these damn— heels!” you spoke, struggling to get them off.

“not to mention the ticket!” jack added, grabbing your hand to help you stay steady as you took off the heels.

“i still don’t understand why you ditched, and why you dragged us along” quinn spoke.

“if a hughes goes down, we all do” you gave a toothy grin.

jack smiled softly as he helped you out. luke held your side, stabilizing you so you could get the heel off.

your long green dress clung to your body. the necklace you wore made its way into jacks pocket and was replaced with the necklace he got you for your birthday.

your ‘pearl’ bracelet was replaced with the bracelet luke made. and your ‘pearl’ ring was replaced with the ring quinn gave you. every nice piece of jewelry was replaced with one that actually meant something to you, whether they were pretty or not. (cough lukes beaded bracelet)

you pulled the pins out of your hair, along with the fake pearls and diamonds. you took the long clip that held your hair, out and shook your head.

“thank god im out of that. i love mom but god it felt like she was preparing me for a pageant.” you laughed.

in that moment, all brothers adored you. adored how you clearly cared for them. “lets head home now” you smiled.

but its never too late to come back to my side, the stars in your eyes shined brighter in tupelo. and if you’re ever tired for being known for who you know, you know you’ll always know me.

“i was tryin' to fly but i couldn't find wings.” you sing along to the song, swaying slightly as you finish cleaning off the table, ears perking up when you hear the door open and close, signaling that rafe just got home, but you continued your clean, “but you came along and you changed everything.”

you feel rafe’s hands on your hips suddenly, making you jump, not realizing over the music that he had entered the room. 

“you lift my feet off the ground.” taylor’s voice continues to sing from the speakers as rafe turns you in his hold. your hands instinctively go to his shoulders, smiling up at him as rafe starts to sway along to the music. “you spin me around.”

at the lyric, rafe begins to slowly spin you around the room, looking down at you with the most genuine look of love in his eyes that you’ve ever seen.

“i love you.” you mouth to rafe, not wanting to interrupt the song with your words as he pulls you closer to him, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

"feels like i'm fallin' and i'm lost in your eyes. you make me crazier, crazier, crazier."

“don’t we have to leave like right now rafe?” you ask, rushing to his closet when he asked you to pick out his outfit for him. one of his favorite things to do is pick out what you’re going to wear, especially for a night out with him, and he likes to reserve the favor for you too.

“we can be late.” rafe says, still in just a pair of gray sweatpants, while you’re completely ready in a simple deep blue dress, chosen of course by your boyfriend.

you sift through his shirts, having one in mind, a blue patterned button down that would match your dress. you finally find it and pull it out, handing it to rafe to put on while you find a pair of pants that would fit the color scheme.

you watch as rafe dresses, looking to you for approval. you frown. there’s nothing particularly wrong with the outfit, but it’s just not pulling together for you.

“hold on.” you hum, knowing you should be moving faster so you can get to your event, but you honestly are enjoying playing dress up using rafe. 

“try this.” you toss him a new shirt, but again it doesn’t spark anything in you. 

“put on your black shoes, i’ve got another in mind.” you turn back to his drawer, hoping that the light blue shirt you’re thinking of is complementary to your own dress.

you find it on the bottom of the drawer, and hold it up happily to rafe. “look! it’s perfect!” you know before he even tries it on that it’ll go perfectly with what you’re wearing.

rafe pulls the shirt over his shoulders, but you stop his hands from doing the buttons as you take over for him, tongue sticking out of your mouth slightly in concentration as your fingers work on the tiny button. 

you leave the top two undone, the event not being too formal, and liking the peak of skin. “perfect.” you say, looking at the two of you standing next to each other in the mirror.

“thank you baby.” rafe says, looping his arm around your waist. “i love spending time with you.”

you feel your cheeks flare red as you blush at his words. “all i did was get you dressed.” you try to deflect his words.

“i know and i loved it.” rafe presses a kiss to the side of your head.

“hm.” rafe says, “can you change your shoes?” you look down at your sandals, taking them off and putting a pair of converse instead. “you know, if you just told me where we were going i would be able to pick out a better pair of shoes.” “good try, baby.” rafe smiles, taking your hand as you head out the door, to whatever surprise that rafe has planned. 

you get into the car, trying to tell where rafe is taking you by the drive, but it’s out into the country, so you ignore trying to figure out where you’re going and instead just enjoy rafes hand on your thigh and the music playing through the stereo.

“rafe!” you gasp as you see the explosion of colors on the road ahead. “you did not!” “i did.” rafe says cockily, obviously expecting your excited reaction.

“i cannot believe you actually brought me flower picking.” you lean over as rafe parks, pressing kisses to his cheek. “you’re the best boyfriend ever.” “i know.” rafe laughs, putting the car into park and turning his head to let you kiss him, lips pushing together in a display thats a bit overly passionate for the parking lot, but you’re just so happy that your usually closed off to the world boyfriend becomes a total sweetheart just for you.

“don’t you dare open your car door.” rafe says, pulling away from the kiss. you just smile as he rounds the car, opening your door and helping you out. 

you take a deep breath of the flower scented air, eyes looking over all the different rows of brightly colored flowers. 

“come on, we gotta get our jar and scissors.” rafe takes your hand in his, leading you towards the booth. there’s only a few other people picking flowers today, so there’s no line when you approach and rafe quickly pays.

“alright, baby, i already know you’re thinking about what you want.” rafe laughs, knowing he’s not really there for choosing the style of the bouquet you make, rather to be the one to cut the stems for you and hold everything.

“mmm, i’m really feeling like an orangey-red-yellow color palette.” you say, heading towards the flowers with rafe following close behind.

“rafe! come here!” you call out to him, and you hear his rapid footsteps as he runs into the bathroom.

“are you okay?” he asks, eyes searching for any sort of potential danger you might be in.

“i’m fine, rafey!” you say, waving your hands as if that’s going to dissuade his worry and take it all away.

rafe comes to where you’re standing in front of the mirror, pressing you into the sink as he pushes his chest into your back. “you scared me.” “sorry, baby.” you hum, picking up a packet from off the sink. “want to do a facemask with me?” “is this what you called me in here for?” rafe questions, looking at the plastic package in your hand.

“mhm. i’m doing one too, it’ll be fun.” rafe sighs, burying his head in your shoulder, pressing a kiss to your bare skin, glad that you’re only wearing a tanktop so he has more access. he considers saying no, but he just can’t deny you what you want. 

“fine, but no pictures and don’t tell anyone about this. ever.” 

you squeal in happiness, ripping open the package and directing rafe to bend down that way you can place the sheet mask on his face, choosing a brightening one for him while you’re going to go for hydrating. 

you giggle seeing your boyfriend, who plenty people consider scary, in the skincare. he glances in the mirror with a frown.

“you look super cute.” you say. “now let me put my mask on then we can sit on the bed and watch tv until it’s time to take them off.”

“what is all this for?” rafe questions, not expecting to come home to the counters filled with baked goods.

“oh perfect timing!” you say, heading over to rafe and giving him a quick kiss on the lips in greeting.

you place your hands on his shoulders, steering him towards the island. “sit down, i need you to taste test everything for me.” “i would be more than happy to do that baby but um-” he pauses, eyes once again moving over the multitude of cupcakes decorated in different ways, along with cookies and some pastries he doesn’t know the name of. 

“oh, right!” you giggle, placing a cupcake in front of him. “i decided to enter a baking competition.” “really?” rafe asks, peeling the wrapper off a cupcake and taking a bite, his eyebrows shooting up. “well, you’re definitely going to win, this is delicious.” “really? be honest rafe, don’t just say that because i’m your girlfriend.” rafe shakes his head, taking another bite. “no seriously babe.” you let out a little squeal in happiness, clapping your hands together as rafe chews more. “okay, but stop eating that, you’re going to get full and i have a lot more i need you to try.”

you take the plate holding the cupcake away from rafe, sliding a different pastry in front of him. rafe eats it, again complimenting you as you cycle through the different things you’ve made while he was away.

“here, this is a pumpkin puff pastry.” you give him the next dessert.

rafe happily takes a bite, but his face suddenly twists. he covers it up quickly, but not before you’re able to tell. 

“you don’t like it?” you ask, and rafes heart breaks at your big eyes looking at him, so upset.

“no, it’s really good, i just-” rafe grabs the glass of water you got him, taking a sip to wash down the treat.

“i just am not a fan of pumpkin.” rafes words don’t seem to make you feel any better, so he turns on his stool and pulls you into him, placing your body in between his legs. 

“princess, i’ve loved everything you made, you’re absolutely going to win this baking competition, gorgeous.” “you really think so?” you ask, reaching your hands up to play with the collar of rafes shirt.

“of course.” he leans forward, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “now whats next for me to try?” rafe asks, even though his stomach hurts from how much he’s eaten.

rafe presses another kiss to your cheek, making you look up from the book your reading. “what is it baby?” “nothing.” rafe shakes his head, but takes the now closed book out of your hands and sets it on the coffee tables. you can’t hold back a giggle as he takes your hands and brings it up to his face.

“do you want some attention?” you ask, rubbing your thumbs over his cheeks.

“mmm.” rafe just hums, closing his eyes as he finally gets what he wants. you scooch over on the couch so you’re sitting closer to him, your thighs pressing together. 

you move a hand up to play with rafes hair, making him drop his head against the couch, cheek pressing into the cushion. you lean forward and kiss the tip of his nose, admiring his blissed out face now that you’ve finally got your hands on him.

“gimme a kiss.” rafe says, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you onto his lap.

you melt into his body, enjoying the soft knitted sweater he’s wearing and the way it feels against you. 

you press your lips against rafes, letting him take the lead in the slow and easy kiss, taking pleasure in the way his lips glide over yours.

you pull away after a minute, resting your head against rafes forehead. it’s a rare moment of complete peace, where rafe is calm and relaxed. you hate to break it, but you eventually stand up, giving him another kiss on the lips.

“where are you going?” rafe asks, reaching out and tugging on your hand.

“i’m going to go take a shower.” you say, feeling gross with your oily hair, plus, you really need to shave, the prickly hairs are starting to bother you.

“okay, i’ll join you.” rafe stands up to follow you, but you place your hands on his chest with a shake of the head. 

“usually, i’d love for you to join me, but i’ve got… girly stuff to do.” you decide that it’s a good enough explanation, but of course it doesn’t dissuade rafe. 

“okay and?” he deadpans, making you roll your eyes.

“just not this time, rafe.” you start to walk away, up the stairs to your bedroom, but rafe is right on your tail.

you decide to ignore him, heading into the bathroom and beginning your shower prep, deciding to do a hair mask while you shave, getting out your razor and creme from the counter underneath the sink.

“i’ll turn the water on for us.” rafe makes a point of using the pronoun. 

“baby.” you groan, placing your products on the shower bench. “i don’t want you to just stand there and watch me shave! i love you but i need a minute alone, okay?” “fine.” rafe leaves the room quickly, swinging the door shut behind him. you sigh and rub your eyes, but turn the water on to heat up.

time passes quickly as you go through your extended shower routine, your phone playing music from it’s place on the sink counter. you finish up, feeling completely refreshed and clean. you pull the robe rafe got you around your body and head out of the bathroom.

“rafe?” you gasp, seeing him sitting on the floor next to your bed, his knees pulled up to his chest, head slumped forward.

“baby!” he picks his head up suddenly, but you can still read his emotions how upset he is.

“hey, hey, what’s wrong?” you kneel down in front of him, leaning forward to kiss his forehead. his eyes are ever so slightly red and you wonder if he’s been rubbing at them or if he’s been crying.

“i-” rafe takes a deep breath, “i hate being away from you.” “oh, honey.” you heart breaks, and you lean forward to wrap your arms around rafes shoulders, who drops his knees so you can get closer. “if i would have known it was that big of a deal, i would have let you shower with me, i just didn’t think you actually wanted to see me like shave and stuff.”

“next time you’ll let me in?” rafe asks in a soft voice that breaks your heart.

“of course.” you take his face in your hands, angling it to press a kiss to his lips. “i love you.”

the spark in rafes eye is finally back. “i love you too.”

Updates:

- Ok so straight up did not remember there was no intro for the first few episodes. Also, John and Teyla's first interactions are sooooo awkward, I always forget that. DAMN the plot is so good right off the bat though. The city rising from the ocean??? BEAUTIFUL, MORE CHILLS, GORGEOUS.

- the color scheme and lighting for the wraith ships is soooooo different in the beginning WOW. The blue and grey, complete lack of other colors aside from a slight yellowish light. So drastically different from the heavy yellow and green fleshyness it becomes later on.

- FORD, AHH 💛

- I've always wondered if the red haired wraith was intentionally not following the black or white hair scheme or if that was a pilot thing where they hadn't thought that far yet. (If anyone knows please lmk)

- DAMN the wraith are so fucking cool. I'm 1000% going to make a whole seperate post ranting about them, but I just have to say they introduce them SO WELL. They're intimidating, mysterious, powerful, and not to mention SO UNIQUE. GAAAAAH!!

- "We are merely the caretakers for the ones who sleep" CHILLS. FUCKING CHILLS DUDE. All the lifsigns appearing and the pods lighting up??? BRUH

- Ok Teyla and John's first head bonk, ADORABLE. I love that they do that and that's their thing ya know? Like it's her people's thing but the only expedition member she does it with is John as far as I can remember.

- Episode 3, THE INTRO ARRIVES AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL

- gotta say, the personal forefield thing is a lil inconsistent, like the coffee can't touch his body in the slightest but he can grip the cup? Could be that they're expecting the viewer to assume the forcefield is creating a gap between his hand and the cup and just left out the sound and green flash, but idk

- Jinto (Ginto? I'm not sure how it's spelled) is such a fun character, I wish he was featured with the other ethosians after the move from Atlantis :/

- I love how Sheppard, Teyla, and Rodney all start to really become a team already in ep 3 with the shadow creature. All 3 not knowing eachother really at all, but after everything on the wraith ship and now with this creature threatening everyone on atlantis, they come together and we see their strengths as individuals and their ability to work together using them. Plus getting to see Rodney really step up and be selfless really gives you a new view on him after his appearances on SG-1.

- idk if it was intentional, but Ford being in the infirmary and not with the other 3 could be some serious foreshadowing for later. I mean him not being there while the majority if the team forms really does not set him up for success being the fourth. Don't get me wrong, I adore Ford, I just also think that Ronan fits the team better and provides a better dynamic.

- I kinda love how there's no discussion shown about Teyla joining the team, she's just on the next mission with them. After the 3rd episode it just makes sense ya know?

- iratus (aratus?) bug, then eventually John literally gets infected and starts turning into a wraith cuz of the retro virus? Bro cannot catch a break

- gotta say, the audio balancing in this show is not my favorite, I always have to crank it up by like 10 when it's all talking and then am immediately auditorally flashbanged when the action starts 😂

- I know it's all serious and shit but Rodney and Ford getting tossed around the back of the jumper is fucking hilarious, especially knowing that they themselves are throwing themselves around

- UGH KAVANAGH

- "don't talk to me about screwed!" Teyla's face at Rodney, PRICELESS. Like, do you not see the man paralyzed with the bug on his neck sapping his life force? Stfu

- omfg I never noticed before but when they're running up the dirt hill from the wraith in John's flashback of the bug attachment, Teyla grabs his arm to get up the hill because the sand is constantly crumbling 😂

- Weir putting Kavanagh in his place, PEAK.

- "you're telling me he can't go through the gate while that thing is on him?" "Then we must do something NOW" THE DRAMA, I LOVE IT, THE MUSIC AS BECKETT EXPLAINS THE PLAN, UGH, SO GOOD

- man even though everyone was fine you can see on Halling's face how the fact that Weird didn't allow the ceremony to happen affected him. Like, would it have sucked for the rest of the people on the ship to be told to prepare to die? Yes, but Teyla might have felt comforted by it, we don't get to find out. Really foreshadows all the conflict that occure between the cultures because of their differences later on and how the expedition's culture is always the one that gets its way. The Athosian's really get the short end of the stick in their relationship with the expedition members for like, the entire show :/

- OOF and it only gets worse with Ep 5 when they think there's a spy and only after basically accusing every Athosian of maybe colluding with the wraith (literally the biggest insult you could ever say to an Athosian or really anyone in the pegasus galaxy), do they find out about the necklace. Not to mention the tension when Bates accused Teyla and all that goes down I mean, YIKES.

- ok so they've captured their first wraith, but I always wondered why they never bothered to try and capture another iratus bug. I mean, they already theorized in its first appearance that they're some sort of prehistoric ancestor to the wraith and they're easier to contain and handle than a whole ass wraith so why no let study it? I think they do later when the whole inoculation thing happens but I guess idk why they wouldn't take the opportunity to study something like that off the bat. Even just to study the regenerative abilities.

- bro episode 6 makes me so sad every time, the ancients really just decided to tell them to off themselves in order to get to their version of heaven instead of something asking the lines of maybe, idk, don't have too many kids or something?? Don't stray outside the field?? Anything else??? I'm sure the ancients had some sort of birth control, maybe share that tech??

- is it just me or does Keras 1000% have a crush on Sheppard? (Who could blame him tbh) I mean, the smile he gives him at the end???

- brooooo not the Hoffan drug event 😭 it's so sad dude, the desperate attempt to save themselves only for it to kill a huge chunk of their people and lead to them fleeing their planet as the wraith attempt to wipe them out.

- ya know, they keep that wraith in the brig for a while and there's no bathroom in there, do wraith even need to use the bathroom since they only feed on life force? If they eat regular food does that mean they have to use the bathroom?

- ok ep 8, underground, absolutely one of the most infuriating episodes imo. The Genii are great antagonists, but god damn are they infuriating about ittttt. Tyrus getting himself killed in the wraith ship and Teyla getting blamed for it??? Don't even get me started on Kolya and Sora dude.

- ya know, I find it interesting how they differentiate scientists and military personnel in the field initially. It changes at some point but right now the scientists are in the tan color while military are in the dark navy. They obviously have the color coding back at atlantis with the color blocking, but the field stuff changes and I think that's interesting.

- the cocooning thing the wraith do to save victims for a later feeding is such a horrific and unique thing to add to them as a species and enemy. Like, that's so cool in such an awful way, they really nailed making the wraith scary dude.

- man it's so weird to see this version of the wraith ships, they're so much more techy than fleshy

- ok so ep 9 "Home", always confused me for one reason, Simon and Elizabeth. They mention him like once after his first appearance I think with absolutely zero follow up. He's such a weird like Checkovs gun fuck up (I think I'm using that right, he's like the opposite of "if you mention a gun it should eventually go off"). His relationship with Weir is never flushed out further and it's all so weird.

- something I really like about the episode is how right off the bat there's hints that something is wrong after they believed they dialed earth. Like, when Weir comes through the gate into the SGC she's alone, but in the briefing room suddenly McKay is with her. Of course things only get more confusing from there once we see Sheppard there etc etc.

- can we all agree they did Teyla so damn dirty with her hair rn

- ep 10 THE STORM OMFG. I am SO excited for this episode dude let's goooooooo

- THE DRAMAAAA, god the scene is set so perfectly, the coming storm, the danger, the empty city, GAH such a good setting for what's to come

- Bro the final grounding station being sperated and everyone all at once realizing there is only one place to go, the control room. Everyone in the same place, the culmination of the entire ordeal. Have I mentioned how fucking AWESOME the sound track is for this show??? Because DAMN.

- ok Sora pisses me off, but the hallway scene with her and Teyla where she comes at her. Dude the emotion and reckless abandon she has confronting her, it's so good. Plus Tesla's entire lack of fear, she knows she can take this girl down in a heartbeat and she will if she has to, but she doesn't and god that's so badass.

- this episode (12) is both awesome and like, depressing af. Seeing Sheppard go one on one with this wraith who's been trapped on a planet alone thinking only of eating and escaping is so intense. Not to mention the wraith that's just eaten the two scientists he was supposed to protect. I also absolutely love Ridney wanting to go out and help Sheppard despite his background as a scientist and general phobia of... everything combat related. Also can I just say that this episode is HELLA FORESHADOWING (intentional or not) for S5 E19 - Vegas??

Like the ones without masks aren't just soldiers or mindless drones for their queen, they're smart. Like this wraith is just boping away in the controls of the lantian ship, activating the forecfield, figuring out how to use a human gun. It's horrifying in such a cool way! A monster that gives even adults nightmares that is smart dude, that's so dope.

- I don't think people talk about Rodney witnessing Dr. Gall's death in this episode. I mean that's gotta have fucked him up dude. You can see it in his face afterwards. Then he has to go from that to confronting a wraith that's trying to kill Sheppard and he does. No hesitation he goes out there and opens fire dude.

- I love seeing Rodney in a leadership position. Is he an ass? Yes, but he is genuinely a fantastic leader. I don't think he should run Atlantis or anything, but he's fantastic in a second in command type deal and I love seeing it.

- dude Peterson is THE WORST dude. He's 10000% the mf in a zombie movie who hides a bite. Like I get you're scared but you're endangering literally everyone else.

- seeing the city quarenteen on its own once Peterson gets out of the damaged sensor area is so cool. I know it's all coding and stuff but man do they have a fantastic way of making the city feel alive.

- I don't understand how the red hazmat suits Sheppard and Teyla put on do anything. They're not sealed, like the hood is just kinda slapped on there. Carson's teams suits look sealed but theirs? Idk I wouldn't trust that

- ugh I really do not.like episode 14 y'all. There is literally zero chemistry between the ancient lady and John, it is so forced it's PAINFUL. Also another prime example of how the ancients are massively pompous self important dickheads that caused almost every single massive problem we see in stargate istg. Wraith? Their fault, replicators? Their fault and thus the annihilation of the asgard, their fault. Anubis? ALSO THEIR FAULT. Also probably like a lot more that we don't even know about cuz those fuckers have been meddling with the universe for a long ass time before getting wiped out.

- bro ep 18 is STRESSFUL AF. The revelation about the source of Tesla's powers, the conflict with her and Bates, finding out there's been a god damn WRAITH in the city THE ENTIRE TIME since the dart showed up.

- I know it's a really short scene, but Teyla and Sheppard sparring is still a favorite. It just shows once again how much they truly view eachother as equals, far too often are female teammates viewed as less, weaker, in need of protection. Not these two though, they don't hold back with eachother, they know that the other can take it and they continue to push eachother to be better. I love them so much. Not to mention how much they value the thoughts and opinions of the other.

- Rodney and Teyla running into eachother at Dr. Heightmeyer's office and him immediately making up a ridiculous excuse is so so Rodney.

- Ford making fun of Rodney making a tiny dick joke about him only to be SHUT TF DOWN by Sheppard is so funny

- Teyla being confronted with a fact she's been running from her whole life is so heartbreaking. She's connected to the Wraith, the species who has terrorized and killed her people and countless others throughout the galaxy for thousands and thousands of years.

- getting pretty much confirmation that the wraith created the damn wraith, angerrrrrr

- ok rq, Weir just said that according to the data from the lab, Wraith don't seem to be able to read the minds of humans even though they have a telepathic network, but they can on some level. We saw it in episode 2 when Colonel Sumner is being interrogated by the Wraith. Not only did she kinda read his mind, but she got so inside his head she was able to force him to kneel just using her mind! Maybe this is just cuz she's a queen (it's mentioned in that underwater power rig episode queens are significantly more powerful mentally than other wraith.), but still, it is entirely within their ability to read and influence human minds on some level. Even without the experimental stuff done to Teyla's ancestors.

- what's with everyone getting sedated in these shows

- I totally get that the Ancients are basically gods to the people of the pegasus galaxy, but Halling expecting the people of Atlantis to risk letting the Wraith get to the Milkyway out of faith? Faith that people who abandoned their galaxy over 10,000 years ago leaving the inhabitants alone to be repeatedly harvested and tormented by creatures they created? After all of that, all the horrors he's seen, the people he's lost and he wants them to risk letting it happen to a whole other galaxy because the Ancients might have a plan??? BRO.

- R "Oh yeah. Yeah that's permanent back damage." Peter "Sorry, I assumed it would come on more slowly." R "Well you assumed with my life." (He's so sassy I love it)

- I love the satellite trio so much, I wish we could've gotten more before... sadness. Also, how TF did Miller snap the pencil that easily???

- PETER NOOOOOO 😭 the way that they say they'll see eachother after the fight is so devastating dude, they're saying it for eachother but they both know he's not making it out of there alive and it breaks. my. heart.

- god, watching the first wraith ship be destroyed, everyone filled with joy and hope that maybe, just maybe they can win this fight. Then the wraith ships start to turn and Peter can't get the satellite back online and they all know exactly what's about to happen. Rodney tries to come back for him anyway but it's too late, it was always going to be too late but it doesn't make watching the satellite be destroyed any less devastating. Not only have they lost the satellite, their only hope, but their friend was on board when it happened and that, that is what kills their hope in that moment.

- new colonel guy irritated the fuck outta me right off the bat. Bro thinks after reading their message and mission reports that he has ANY idea what they're up against and it's bonkers.

- AHHH, the way Sheppard stands with Weir against the Colonel guy cutting her out, I love that man.

- I've been pausing this episode like a billion times because I have so much to write about it, help.

- the fact that Sheppard warns them they should keep some of the proximity warheads in reserve and he doesn't listen... AUGH. He is sooooo gonna regret that later.

- Carson and Rodney bickering will never stop being hilarious

- even tied up, blindfolded, and alone in a Genii facility, Elizabeth stands her ground like a damn badass.

- "So long Rodney" you could write this off as Rodney being the person who happened to be in the room when he decided to man the jumper manually, but I think we all know that's not the case. He's run off in silence without so much of a word to anyone more times than I can count, but Rodney, he has to say goodbye, even if it's a crappy one.

- "You let Sheppard fly that jumper?" God he is so heart broken in this moment, he never had the chance to stop him but Elizabeth, she has the opportunity and she didn't. I don't think he ever could've truly forgiven her for that if he'd died.

My Yoyo Design(s)!!!!

While messing around w/ the Yoyo doodle from my last blog post, I found that adjusting the hue by 25% to the right gets you his jsrf palette. Coincidence or not, I ran with that logic and thought of creating a new Yoyo design with what I got from sliding the hue adjustor all the way to the right : purple and blue.

But before running with purple jacket blue hair Yoyo just like dat, I wanted to try n analyze his canon looks n take note of the constants in both desoigns which are : red ractangular shades, baggy clothing, hanging belt, hooded upper wear, dark-colored bottom wear, bigger (compared to others) round yellow hued skates, and ofc his smug ass grin.

More importantly, his character color palette utilizes red, orange, yellow, green, and blue only which made this redesign thing a little challenging,,,

,,,and challenging it was 😵‍💫 i wanted to try pushing a 7 hue palette on him to sort of break from his usual scheme and make the look more ‘new’ buut obviously it didn’t work out. so i stuck with the usual 5 hue limit and wowers it works!!!

As for the design itself i wanted to go for a layered look. Gave him a cargo vest cus i thought it’d look sick on em + gives off the same tactical look his “bullet sling” looking sash from his future design does. Instead of a hanging belt, I went with a hanging suspender (?) similar to what tripp pants have. Double layer ripped jeans for a way to add color to the usual dark bottom wear, also to have (lime) green stand out in his overall look similarly with his canon designs. As for the skates…they’re not exactly skates. He’s wearing sneakers but with this chunky round skates sole that’s removable so he can wear/show off his counterfeit sneaker collection while being able to skate around town. For the sake of this design, I wanted the sneakers and soles to have a similar yellowish hue to counter the usual yellow skates with black/navy grey design. Similar to future, his hair is exposed but it’s messy and unkempt like what i assume his og hair is. Lastly, the shades are all-red and sport-like in shape.

In the end, I am satisfied with how he looks but I still wanted to make a Yoyo design based on my own tastes and color scheme. So here’s anotha wan!!!!!!!!

Originally just an alt color palette, I turned it into its own design cus why not.

This time I’m following the idea that instead of a hue adjustment, his hair is the color of the previous design’s jacket which is turquoise! 5 hue rule applies here too.

Kept the same idea for the shoes, but now his socks can be seen. His hair roots are grown out (though i personally think it’s just bleached). He’s got a headband keeping his bangs away, orange fingerless arm warmers, and lime ish olive green cargo pants. Jacket is now royal blue going indigo cus i’ve always thought it’s his favorite color n i really just wanted to see it as a main color in his design from just his og skate wheels color. Instead of a belt, the open rings in his jacket have three ribbons hanging made to look like an arrow, in reference to the arrow designs on his og skates as well. Aaand lastly the shades, kinda wanted to stick with all red again but what if red frames and white/transparent lens 🧐 an inversion of his og sunglasses. It’s asymmetrical in shape to form a silly eye expression.

Anyway that iz all, designing these were an inch resting experience. Considering doing other character redesigns as well but not anytime soon, i got other stuff going on.

- is into American football and baseball and specifically collects memorabilia for it. her favorite teams are the New York Yankees (as she wore Yankees shirt when Miguel came to her dorm as a kid, also I haven’t seen her wear any orange with her sports outfits so she probably isn’t a mets fan unfortunately) and the New York Giants! (she has a football helmet with a big ‘G’ in a similar font to their 70s logo and her jacket is the same designs/color scheme associated with the giants. I’m putting my money that these are her favorite teams because as a former collector of old sports wear……it’s an expensive af interest lol)

- is of implied Cantonese descent. Most likely from Hong Kong. Kwan is the HK Cantonese spelling of Guan. Also her name (Xina) means beautiful sunrise/dawn (曦=Xi, sunrise/dawn and 娜=Na, meaning beautiful or elegant!)

- Into gardening! Has a lot of plants on her balcony. And biking as well :)

- Most likely a Marxist-Leninist or has left wing leaning views. This is evident on how she is disapproving of corporations and the fact she has the USSR flag up in her apartment and I honestly don’t think non-Marxists would have that type of stuff sorry LMAO….she could just be really into the Cold War era of the Twencen in particular but the dots are connecting a bit too much for me i fear

- Tends to wear a lot of yellow, green, blue, and brown!

- Thouuuuuhh cosmetically she likes red/warm colors!!! Also she wears acrylics in the panels and is still able to recode Lyla in them. Also likes to curl/style her hair, I’m noticing a lean towards styles more associated with the 50s-70s.

- The colorists keep switching her eye colors from blue to green to brown, maybe she wears contacts? Also black hair to brown hair too…..maybe she dyes her hair often.

- Stated that she used to work for Alchemax in World of Tomorrow.

- Is on good terms with her family or at least good enough terms to visit them casually.

So I wanted to draw all four costumes, but I was having trouble with posing Strawberry Crepe, so I just drew Parfait for now

I like all the costumes, and I definitely want to draw Dark Choco at some point, but I’m also somewhat struggling at telling what’s on their costumes, so I just stuck with her for now (though I don’t think think I got things entirely right with her either). Hopefully later on we get proper images of the costumes in sprite form

Also I personally really like this outfit. Yes the other ones are great too, but something about Parfait’s costume here just elevates it to my second favorite (1st being Dark Choco, predictably), I love it a lot

I’m surprised I haven’t yet seen art of the costumes, but maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places

Metanoia (Visual Novel)

Genre: Horror

This game is a cute short r18 game about a therapist who is trying to treat you. If the art style seems familiar, that's because the creator is @turnthepagevn, who also created a short game called Hello, My Name is Zack, which is fun as well. This one is fairly short, but I think it does have some nice moments throughout the game.

The story starts out with the Remi (the MC's default name) waking up inside of a hospital, only to meet their psychiatrist, Dr. Rose. They've been in here for some time, supposedly after they were attacked by someone while going home. While talking with Dr. Rose, Remi mentions how much they want to leave, with Dr. Rose stopping them, stating that they need to be under observation.

If Remi complains about the medication or food, Dr. Rose will apologize, also mentioning that Remi has been blacking out, even scaring one of the nurses that work here. Despite this, Dr. Rose gaslights Remi a bit, stating that they can't leave and that he's doing this to protect them.

Forcing the meeting to end will result in Dr. Rose giving Remi the medication, and Remi apologizing for snapping at Dr. Rose. The drugs end up causing Remi to not be able to walk properly, thus leading to them falling and Dr. Rose catching them before passing out. Dr. Rose reveals that he was the one who drugged them in the coffee shop, though Remi will not remember any of this.

If Remi continues to talk, they will continue to try to convince Dr. Rose that they can leave but to no avail. Remi eventually apologizes for being snippy as they've been stressed out, and Dr. Rose reveals the truth. He ends up pinning Remi down, stating that he'll find a way to smuggle them out of here, promising that he will continue this cycle over and over again until the player learns to love him.

Remi can confess but if they back pedel, they'll end up talking about how worried they are of their loved ones learning about what happened. Remi ends up reassuring them. Remi confesses their biggest fear of being alone. Remi asks Dr. Rose to take them back to their room, to which Dr. Rose gives them medication before bringing them to their room and having them pass out on the bed.

Remi can also instead confess their feelings for Dr. Rose which leads him to be taken aback. If the player fully confesses, then Dr Rose will tell them his first name, Alastor. He is very happy with this revelation, stating that his love was at first sight, and even talks about his plans to get them out of here, illegally or otherwise. Alastor then asks if he can kiss them. Accepting will have a rather sweet ending, and refusing will have Alastor accept these boundaries, however, he gets Remi to stay a bit longer in the hospital and in the meantime come up with some date ideas.

Starting out, I will say that I like this artist's art style. I've always been more biased towards more simple character designs, both for their ease and standout, as both the characters of Zack and Robin both follow the color schemes of their respective character (red and green), so as Alastor follows a blue color scheme the main colors are blue, which I thought was pretty cool.

Having a psychiatrist yandere isn't necessarily a new thing ( see games Dr. Morgan's Counseling Session (though he isn't actually a therapist) and Weathering Feelings), but it is a great place to be in for a yandere as it not only gives them access to various things like drugs, but also gets more insight into the deeper feelings of their beloved, making it easy to manipulate and control their lover if they can get them into that kind of position. It's a good gig for yanderes, especially one of the more manipulative nature.

Alastor Rose seems to have been watching over Remi for quite a while, as he had to drug their favorite drink and possibly sedate them afterwards to get them into this facility. He probably also planned the entire bringing them into a nice hospital, with their plan to drug Remi over and over again until Remi falls for them, using gaslighting to control them to certain points. This means that Remi can either fall for Dr. Rose quickly or over many cycles- a scary thought as we will never know just how many times Remi had to go through this, though it does seem like Remi does remember parts of it from previous playthroughs. Dr. Rose is very courteous, kind and overall understanding, as part of his role as a psychiatrist, though also emotionally manipulative, gaslighting the idea that Remi won't be let go due to a traumatic attack. He doesn't allow Remi to leave, and always asks to spend more time with him, even possibly lying when Remi asks to change psychiatrists stating there aren't a lot in the facility. All of the things that Alastor says are usually used to keep Remi in check, though in an unassuming way, and being the only real person that they interact with, there is a big possibility of Remi eventually falling for him. If that doesn't work, Alastor can just administer some drugs for them, and wipe their memory as if nothing happened - a pretty easy solution all things considered. I do think it's a bit strange that Dr. Rose has to essentially smuggle Remi out of the hospital if the two do fall in love (maybe he's not actually a psychiatrist, but who knows), since as a psychiatrist he could probably just request some sort of transfer, but what do I know. I think it would be pretty cool to have some extra scenes about how Alastor interacts with other people though, I think that would be cool.

Overall, a fun game with a pretty manipulative yandere that has this plan all in his hands. It was a fun little game to play and I can't wait until Turn the Page comes out!

Let's start with the published fics:

Blue from at home got his (nick)name from the fact that he is blue - from head to fin, though his scales are almost black. About twice your size and husky, he looks like he's somewhere in his 40s. When I think of him, he definitely has black hair that's starting to go grey - a well-kept beard, too. He also has some chest hair going. All around a burly guy, someone who's made for hugging and protecting the ones he loves.

Hunter from after hours is more of a sunshine boy. Not the most muscular, but not quite skinny either, he stands just a little taller than you. Dark hair and eyes, he tends to look disheveled because he's a little whirlwind with an aversion to going to the groomers. He lives in comfy jeans and shirts but lets you dress him up from time to time. He has the most adorable floppy ears that perk up when you drop the right words.

Evan from capture kill - blond, fashionable hair and green eyes that just about swim with tears at every little thing you do - is similar to Hunter in his build, but rather tall. Being a baker keeps the carbs going but turning into a were-creature gives him just enough definition to make people look twice. Gets freckles in the summer. A hoodie/shirts and jeans guy.

Bill is so damn wiry - a real tough dog, we'd say in my native language - smaller than Evan, with a smile that proudly shows off his chipped canine he refuses to get fixed. He doesn't care that much about appearances, that's why his salt-and-pepper hair gets up to his shoulders frequently - it's also the exact length that shows him it's time for another cut. Still a little stuck on the fashion of his youth, you can catch him in old band tees and denim, with a heavy leather boot to match. A chainsmoking bastard who seems to be amused by every little thing.

The rest of my OCs aren't as developed yet, but for the ones from my WIPs (talked about in this post), we have:

Connor, the blond, skinny, just the same height as you, four-eyed creep. He doesn't care much about his looks, either - beauty is money (money he'd rather spend on getting some new tools to try on you), and thus his glasses are terribly out of style and he wears his long hair in a low ponytail more often than not. He at least keeps his beard reasonably groomed. His clothes are old, haves holes from the washer, but he prefers to wear red tops, his favorite color. It washes him out. Terribly.

Tyler and Mac - Tyler, your skinny little dog hybrid with a little bit of an napoleon complex, looks a little extra gruff next to your newest bull hybrid, Mac. Red-haired, with the biggest, brown doe eyes, that oaf a man still has a lot of growing up to do - but he just needs to use his wobbly lip and freckles against you to make you go easy on him. Which makes Tyler all the angrier.

Besh, who is a tall, pathetic mess of a naga. Grey scales and stormy eyes, he seems harmless enough at first - but don't be fooled, he isn't well-build for nothing. He wears his dark hair long and is rather fond of adding decorations to it, be they flowers or man-made. A biter.

The rest of them (Him, Ghorz, Them) are still schemes to me - but they all have one thing in common: They're huge.

Have you reviewed the snorunt line? Froslass is my face

I already reviewed Froslass over here, but as for the rest of the line:

Snorunt's probably one of my favorite ice-types. It's cute, it's unique, it has a great design, and it even has a great shiny (that I was lucky enough to catch in PLA).

The inspiration behind this one might be a bit obtuse to American audiences, but it's based off a yukinko (a yokai that appears during snow and wears a yuki mino, which is a conical snow coat). It also has a few elements of a zashiki-warashi mixed in there with the whole "bringing fortunes to homes" thing:

Visually, its one of our only triangular Pokemon, and this alone makes it pretty distinctive. The blue eyes pop nicely and help to indicate its ice typing, and the black body draws attention to the middle of the design where the face is. Said black also contrasts nicely with the yellow and orange accents of the straw coat. The back, meanwhile, has a few diamonds on it that reflect the triangular shape. It's simple, it's unique, the theme is clear, and the colors are great. A winner in my book.

I hear a lot of people say that Glalie doesn't look anything like Snorunt, but I actually see a lot of similarities, They're both shapes, just with Glalie being a circle instead of a triangle. They both have blue eyes and the same style of mouth. Their bodies are both black (Glalie's 'dex stating its body is made of rock covered in ice), and both have inlaid faces. Obviously the shape and color scheme are drastically different, but it's not like they have nothing in common.

Visually, Glalie isn't bad, though I don't like it quite as much as Snorunt. Instead of a yukinko it's now more oni-esq, sporting horns and looking more like a floating snowball or hailstone. It's honestly kind of low-key terrifying, not helped by the 'dex casually mentioning how it freezes prey solid and then eats the frozen corpse. Lovely.

Visually, the blue eyes pop and the white contrasts nicely with the black accents. However, I do find myself missing Snorunt's lovely colors; I could easily see the eyes here being white and the body blue instead, which would still look icy while keeping some color in there. I'm also not as big on the holes in the body; there's a few too many of them and it clutters the design a bit compared to Snorunt just having one hole in the front. I think I prefer Froslass to it overall even if it doesn't match Snorunt as much as an evo, but Glalie is fine for what it is.

Finally, we have Mega Glalie. Right off the bat, it fixes the color issue I had by showing ice peaking through the horns on the head, of which it now possesses three (with the new one coming out of the hole regular Glalie has above its eyes, which is nice continuity). It also adds red pupils and cuts down on the amount of holes; all welcome changes.

Probably the most notable thing about it is that its jaw is completely broken and just hangs open all the time, casually spilling out freezing cold air. The 'dex makes this sound more like an annoyance than a major problem for it, but it still takes Glalie's creepiness and cranks it up to ten.

However, the jaw is where it starts to loose me a bit. The bottom teeth look 2-dimensional and out of place, and having the entire jaw be so spiky makes the design look more cluttered than it really is. I also don't love the entire jaw being black; it overtakes the face area a bit too much (I guess it's supposed to look like an oni beard? maybe??). It also adds two white... things, which don't add anything to the design.

I like the overall direction of this thing and the upper half looks pretty dang good, but the bottom half doesn't hit as well. If they dropped the bottom teeth (maybe give it a pattern that makes it interlock with the above jaw to emphasize the broken idea), smoothed out the jaw and made it more white, and made those two pointy things at the bottom black "reflections" of the horns up top, that might've worked. As is, it's an interesting take, but a relatively poor execution, and is probably the weakest design out of the four.

Overall, I really enjoy Snorunt and think it's a pretty perfect design. Glalie is a fun monster but doesn't have quite as solid of a design, and the mega's a bit too incoherent to really improve upon the original. As a whole, while the line could stand to be more coherent, I like these weird as hell snow creatures and wish them the best of luck in their people-eating ways.

could you explain (as briefly or detailedly as you feel like, i'm just curious) what makes a flag better than another flag other than just a general like or dislike for the design? like how does one design an effective and "correct" flag? what makes some flags bad? i've been in so many different art and design classes and whatnot and have never learned about this but it interests me!!

oh my god absolutely. buckle up lol

so the main purpose of a flag in general is to symbolise something, in this case a country. a good flag should be something people can rally around. the most important factor there is if people actually like the flag (its not a hideous eyesore). but beyond that, there are a couple general rules that help flags stay unique and accessible so everyone in that country/state/organization/etc. that it represents will be happy with it.

First you have to think about where flags most commonly are: on flagpoles. a flag should not be designed to be seen from five feet away, it should be designed to be seen from hundreds of feet away. in that vein, it has to be simple.

heres the flag of panama and kentucky for comparison. panama’s flag is simple and neat, while kentucky’s flag has lots of little details that are hard to make out even on a phone screen

Secondly, you are not going to be seeing a flag on a flagpole straight on like these images. they will be fluttering in the breeze (AT BEST) and a portion of the flag will be obscured. you know what that means? NO TEXT. you cannot read shit if that flag is flying in the wind, even if you’re on the right side of it so the text isnt backwards. if the wind isnt blowing then youre out of luck

on the left is the german flag, which even if you didnt know was the german flag, you can still tell what it looks like. three stripes, black red yellow. on the right is the flag of illinois, which is trying to tell you its the flag of illinois but you cant tell because that text on the bottom is unreadable.

thirdly, for the purposes of being a good rallying icon, its good to use symbolism representative of what the flag is for

i dont really have a bad example here because this is subjective but on the left is the flag of new mexico. the red sun symbol is a puebloan symbol representing the native peoples who lived in whats now new mexico for thousands of years and the yellow background is for spain, who owned the land before the us took it. on the right is the flag of chicago, with two blue stripes represent lake michigan and the chicago river, and the red stars represent four major historical events

a lot of people will also say that you should only use two or three colors in a good flag but i think you can make more work, even though it might be harder

indonesia’s flag, on the left, is a flag with two colors that i would say isnt great (its almost identical to the flag of monaco, which existed already at the time indonesia chose theirs) and on the right is the flag of south africa, which is a flag with lots of colors that i would consider to be a good flag

all of that is to say, if you want to make a good flag, model it off an existing country flag. those are generally the best flags out there because they have the most pressure to be a good flag. most people who live in a country they’re proud to live in love their flags (theres a reason the us flag is so strongly associated with extreme patriotism!). The same cant be said of most states, as a lot of state flags have detailed designs and text, and especially cant be said of cities. i showed the chicago flag earlier because its one of the few city flags in the us that gets actual usage outside the government. chicagoans are proud of their flag as they should be and if youve been to chicago, youve seen the flag. they put that thing everywhere, from backpacks to water bottles. now to top it all off here are some of my personal favorite flags from around the world

Do you have any Alois headcanons

HI HI THANKS FOR THE ASK! I have a number of them!! I'll try to categorize them best I can! (Design, Relationships, Backstory, Extra)

DESIGN <3

AS YOU CAN KINDA SEE FROM MY ART...I like to draw him with slightly longer, wavier, curlier hair. This isn't just to differentiate how he looks next to Ciel, but it kinda emphasizes his more 'high-energy' nature

I really do think my favorite part of his anime-design are his eyelashes, so I try to preserve those!

ALSO I DONT KNOW IF THIS COUNTS AS A HEADCANON BUT!! He's got such an interesting color scheme if you look at it from an analytical point of view. here, see-

You can see, his outfit (specifically his tie/vest) are green when he was a kid, as in before the 'incident' took place.

Around the time that he is a new earl/chronologically speaking the former Earl Trancy is still alive, he wears red. Red is a direct contrasting color to green. Red is also the color of that god forsaken kimono (but also, additionally, this outfit here)

His clothes in the current/majority of the story are this sort of reddish-purple, with a green vest. This, in a way, shows that he has reclaimed some of his original self, but he's still wearing something reddish -- the past is not gone. It should also be noted that, while black, Claude has a reddish undertone, and Hannah has a blue scheme. Hannah wants to save Alois, and Claude wants to drive him to ruin. They clash, and he wears a purple coat.

And, at long last, when he finally accepts Hannah's love for him, he is in Ciel's body. And what is Ciel? Blue!

THAT WAS LONG BUT I'VE BEEN SITTING ON THAT RANT FOR A WHILE! I might repost it, is just find it so damn interesting!

Onto the other stuff!

RELATIONSHIPS <3

Part of the reason he hates Hannah so much is this innate '6th sense' he's been shown to have (he's actually quite good at reading people!). He can tell she's deceiving him in...some way. So he doesn't trust her one bit!

Another reason is because, genuinely, he feels like she's trying to distract Claude away from him. While I don't ship them, I think the story has much more depth when he's portrayed/interpreted as having a one-sided crush on Claude. Erasing that, or at least erasing the codependency of that relationship (whatever form it might take), is to the story's detriment. Even if you don't think Alois wants to kiss Claude, it's undeniable that he has an unhealthy bond with that spider demon.

Also, part of the reason I even ship cielois is because they have such a unique and interesting dynamic of 'I'm/you're the only other person who understands, yet we are so incapable of showing it.' I think if there was ever anyone who could get on Ciel's level, it would be Alois.

BACKSTORY :(

it's kinda shown in my fic moth wings, but I believe Alois was probably ostracized a bit by the other boys in his situation

I always saw 'Alois' as a concept he grappled with for a number of years. First Alois was like a persona he 'went into,' but later on, he just became more and more of his expression of himself. And, later, an expression of revenge and anger at the rest of the world

He definitely has some memories issues/a bad memory. I wouldn't be surprised if he only really recognized Luka in dreams, or went weeks without thinking about his face.

Also! Since he had to look after Luka, he is/was surprisingly good at taking care of himself.

Someone brought up the headcanon that Luka and him were Irish, and that was part of the reason the village hated them. While I think that's super interesting, I don't know enough about that history to fully adopt it!

EXTRA!!

He absolutely hates other rich people. I think he knows he's going to die soon, so he wants to basically...fuck with as many people as he can. he had little to no qualms destroying that entire ballroom/the nobles trapped inside because...they're just nobles! eat the rich!

He was also...so eager to put on that dress HGJAJ Gender Non-Conforming AF and I love that for him. if he was in a modern setting, I honestly think he'd be perfectly happy with any/all pronouns.

He's also a lot more animated than Ciel. Even during a quiet scene, he's most-likely tapping his heel or fidgeting with something

So in your post here (x) you asked: "I wonder what makes things "go together" like, why do some colors look nice together and some don't? and why do they look good to others? why do we have favorite colors?" let me go over them one by one!

Important: this is an info dump. I learned a lot of this in school from my apprenticeship (Graphic Design digital and print)… though even before that it has been a special interest of mine. Though I am also a student and focussed on giving out scientific accurate information. So I linked sources and fact checked my knowledge (new information always welcome 👀✨). Also: my first language is not English and I was taught British English in school, so… please be kind.

"why do some colors look nice together and some don't?"

First: the colour wheel(s)

I know, I know, we always have to look at the colour wheels first. Though… they are an extremely crucial part of this, so understanding them, where they come from and such, already brings you close to find your colour palettes ;W;

There are basically two different colour wheels. In colour theory history there have been a few different wheels (for more research if you like: 1704: Newton, 1810: Goethe … there are more, but these are most important) you will see both of them being used in different context.

First: RGB colour wheel (by DanPMK on Wikipedia CC BY-SA)

Triad of Red, Green and Blue (based on Newton).

Based on the additive colour scheme.

Used in lighting, digital colours and screens.

Yellow is on the opposite of Blue.

Digital art programs use the RBG model, so those usually go with this one.

Little CMYK ramble: When you look in between of the RGB triad, you find CMY, which IS based on RGB, since this is how body/phisical colours, light and our eyes work together. The added "K" is … Key, aka Black, since in printing you can't just print 3 colours in 100% onto each other. First of all: it will be a very muddy green-brownish almost-black colour, while it also takes too long to dry, will smudge, clog up the printing machines, which then need more cleaning… and trust me… any printer will call you and tell you to change the colours, so you don't have 300% "dot gain" aka "total ink application".

Yellow is on the opposite of Purple.

Quick vocabulary check in:

Hue — Fully saturated colour on the wheel. No white or black has been added.

Shade — adding black to a base hue (deepens the colour down to black) — it changes the Saturation.

Saturation — intensity/purity of the colour

Tint — adding white to a base hue (softens the colour to pastel up to white) — changes the Luminance.

Luminance — brightness/light in a colour

Tones — adding grey to a base hue(subtles down the colour, but can also add complexities into it) — another saturation change!

Harmonies err… Colour Contrast

We finally get to talk about colour harmonies, or from now on: contrasts. Since harmonies are neatly tied to contrasts. There is no "one way" to this, there are many, and also: you can (and should) combine them.

Monochromatic

You choose your colour and then run with it. You only add white to it. The deepest hue is usually the one you chose or you add black to it, to make it darker.

Complementary

Probably one of the contrasts that are being utilised or talked about most. You use one of the two colour wheels and basically pick one colour and then pick the colour of the opposite side.

Split Complementary

You choose one colour, and then go to the complementary colour, to just use the two right next to that one.

Triadic/Tetradic

Basically you use the three or four colours on the wheel, that are equally spaced from each other.

General Contrasting — adding harmony edition ✨

Since these where just the ABSOLUTE basics, and there is no (literal) nuance to these, those contrasts might work with each other, but the problem is: they all have the same value. They are just fully saturated hues that kind of scream at you and there can't be a harmony this way.

warm/cool and light/dark

You contrast your art with warm and cool colours. Basically, if you have a generally cool toned picture, the warm tones will pop out and these will be your eye-catcher.

opacity/transparency

The deepest hue is the hue you choose, you basically turn down the opacity, letting the hue below shine through as well.

Some things I do

No srsly. This is the part, where I am giving advice that is based on what works FOR ME. If you want to do things differently or want to get more advice from different artists, to find your ways, please go ahead and look up some more. It is important to find the way for colouring you have the most fun with. It is your art after all, I will not set "do's" and "don't-s" bullshit rules.

If you have a colour palette you are generally happy with, but the colours still seem a little "off" to you? traditional ways: -> with opaque colours: make an underpainting with a colour you'd love to pair your palette with -> with water colours/ink: a very thin colour coat over the whole painting (make sure to use masking-fluid for parts you want to keep white) digital way: -> open another layer -> set it on "overlay" -> throw a colour you like over it, that will fit the vibe — I often use some colour psychology and a colour association that fits the vibe -> turn down the opacity, until you are happy with it 👀

Using one prominent colour as an eye catcher and then use it ONLY for the exact part you want to draw (huehue) attention to -> most affective if it has a little higher saturation than the rest of your palette -> also PERFECT moment to find a complementary/warm&cool contrast to the rest of the painting

Shadow tipps

(digital) I figured, that shadows work pretty well by using a complementary colour on a multiply layer and then just turning down the opacity of that layer (you can layer those as much as you like)

10-30% for the contrast to not mix too much or become muddy.

With shading I do the same percentage "rule", while also using a complementary or warm-to-cool/cool-to-warm colour contrast, for more definition.
