🇬🇧  Hello there! As usual, I'm fashionably late to the party. I owed it to myself to finish my own personal take on the "No to AI" sign... and here it finally is. 🙃 It features one of my mermaids, and I was intent on finishing this piece traditionally. AI bots scraping the net can't take the original painting away, no matter what!

As a chronically ill artist who doesn’t have much of a social life, social media is very important to me. I mostly use it to talk to other artists, look at art, and share my own. Knowing that machines are scouring these very same platforms to swallow our work and regurgitate it, allowing unscrupulous people to make money off our hard labour... is absolutely disgusting. There are currently two litigations against AI image generators, and I worry about their potential outcomes. I wish for a world where AI is used fairly and trained ethically. I want the exploitation and devaluation of artists and their work to stop. But I don't make the rules. I can do nothing but hope for the best, and keep making art when I am able.

Mais je me devais de finir ma propre version du visuel “No to AI”... et la voilà enfin. 🙃 Bien sûr, j’y ai glissé une de mes sirènes, et j’ai décidé de faire cette illustration sur papier. Les bots qui ratissent le net ne peuvent pas m’enlever l’original, quoi qu’ils fassent ! En tant qu’artiste malade chronique qui n’a pas beaucoup de vie sociale, les réseaux sociaux sont très importants pour moi. Je m’en sers presque exclusivement pour parler à d’autres artistes, regarder leurs travaux, et partager les miens. Savoir que des robots parcourent ces mêmes réseaux pour ingérer et régurgiter lesdits travaux, permettant à des personnes peu scrupuleuses de se faire du fric sur nos dos... est absolument écoeurant. Il y a actuellement deux procès en cours aux USA contre des générateurs d’images, et je m’inquiète de leurs potentielles ramifications. J’aimerais vivre dans un monde où les IA sont entraînées de manière éthique et juste. J’aimerais que l’exploitation et la dévaluation des artistes et de leurs travail cesse. Mais c’est pas moi qui dicte les règles. Je ne peux qu’espérer au mieux, et continuer à peindre quand j’en suis capable. Prenez soin de vous, mes braves.

I'm excited to finally post my full Fathoms zine watercolour piece! I hope you'll like it. It was the perfect occasion for me to use my favourite teal and my favourite brown together again. :') This image is also very, VERY gay. Once again, I'd like to thank @oooocleo and the whole team for the incredible job they've all done. Take care with this heat, everyone! I have not drawn anything for two days but this, these two. I got posessed okay. I am so normal about them. So so normal. Here we go, loveletter to @tangledinink and all the good food they provide with all their awesome stories, comics, arts, everything I am inhaling everything like melt id down inject it into my bloodstream. (I need to play catchup on all the good stuff i am behind on the keysmashing in the tags under the buffet or ART)

Soooo, being "normal" aside, the twins are everything i wanna adopt them they are precious and I love them and they are the fanciest bitches ever. They are such twins. They hit me like a suckerpunch that I gladly threw myself into with a smile. But then again that is a general experience with stuff done by their creator so like. You feel me?

As for housekeeping, I used inks on the background, copics on the twins and bling bling metallic mica watercolours on anything silver in this piece - here is a vid on how shiny this pic is: (unedited bc me tired)

Is ________ canon to SOHAE?

if it’s not in the comic it’s not inherently canon. this includes my own posts that aren’t just explanations of things that are in/relevant to the events of SOHAE. Playlists are canon and fics are canon as indicated.

What is the time span/timeline of SOHAE?

There’s no precise timeline for SOHAE but around/over 2 years from start to finish

*While I understand that SOHAE uses T*ylor Sw*ft's music I do not want to discuss her, the metatext around her, and her personal life on this blog* I appreciate the effort to separate her music within SOHAE from her personal life and from making 1:1 comparisons to her career trajectory. Thank you!

please note: the characters in SOHAE are based on my interpretation of the book descriptions. the initial art for SOHAE was started prior to casting announcements and when Walker was casted the decision was made to ignore the tv cast regardless of who was chosen due to the young age of the actors and the fact that SOHAE skews mature in content. its my personal belief that there can be multiple equally canon versions of the same character especially as adaptions come out and i do not tolerate anyone who dismisses the casting or describes book versions as the “true” version, these comments will be removed immediately and the people will be blocked from all blogs. i will continue to use whichever version of my designs for the character works best for the work.
