PSL Update

I just want to announce that Baz just led his team to their first victory in 9 matches and it was all down to a 17 year old quick from a tiny village in North Pakistan!!! It was such a brilliant game to watch!!! Also the post match presentation is on and Fawad Rana (the owner of Lahore qalanders aka the team that baz captains) just kissed baz. I love gay cricket. Also, I would kiss baz too because he looks so good rn. His hair? on point. His face? Flawless. His shirt? Fitting in all the right places.

I hate the city of lahore so much (and their people ugh) because of our rivalry but baz!!! And Fakhar!!! And kiwi Mitch!!! And now Shaheen shah!!! I'm happy for my faves

Shaheen Shah Afridi is only 17 and he took 5 wickets for only 4 runs (one of the best bowling figures in the history of t20 cricket) and cleaned up Multan Sultans' incredible batting line up. So the team who was at the bottom of the table has just now beat the team who was at the top. T20 leagues are weird

got tagged by @yeats-infection to post my favourite album covers which was such an oddly-good-feeling surprise because i don’t do these things much.

it ended up being all a lot harder than i thought because i can’t tell if i like these album covers, or i just like these albums, or if they’re good album covers, or just iconic, or just meaningful personally because i remember having them on my shelf and feeling connected to the memory of the colours and images. 

anyway. i’m supposed to be packing to go to new zealand so i don’t have time to think more on what i’ve picked off the top of my head.

Ella, you are almost certainly correct. I wouldn’t survive one shift as Kris Statlander’s Designated Person To Be Squatted. But I’d die a true hero’s death and go out doing what I love most: being lifted off the ground by a woman with incredible muscles. I’m currently staring at the ceiling with tears in my eyes picturing it.

Absolutely!

It's really just emails!

4. If you could go back to school, would you?

Christ, no. I like the idea of learning more, but not in a structured educational environment. I want to go to courses and learn how to spin yarn, I want to be taught how to read tarot, I want to know the name of every plant and flower I see on my river walks. Just not in a school please.

5. Can you parallel park?

Barely, but if there is no other option I'll give it a whirl and humiliate myself and everyone watching. The other year I had to park V's car and was making such a hash of it our neighbour peered in to see if I was okay, we were both so embarrassed.

6. Do you think aliens are real?

It seems unlikely they aren't.

7. Can you drive a manual car?

I hate driving anything but a manual car.

8. Guilty pleasure?

When you get to my age no pleasure is guilty and you learn to embrace the joy in everything that makes your heart swell.

9. Tattoos?

I have two Jimmy Eat World tattoos and one Alkaline Trio one. It's not that I regret any of them per se, but the Jimmy one on my ankle I wish I'd chosen different lyrics and different font.

10. Favourite colour?

Yellow!

11. Favourite type of music?

I mostly listen to pop punk, punk rock, pop, and sad girl singer songwriters.

12. Do you like puzzles?

I like doing crosswords with V whilst we're cooking and with E & M & R curled up on a sofa in R's living room.

13. Any phobias?

Trypophobia is the closest I have. I get very very uncomfortable, especially if the holes are photoshopped onto the human body.

14. Favourite childhood sport?

I played netball a lot until I started to be bullied and then quickly stopped.

15. Do you talk to yourself?

Hmm, yes.

16. Tea or coffee?

Earl Grey tea. Weak, no milk and no sugar, please!

17. First thing you wanted to be when growing up?

I honestly cannot remember. For a very short minute I'd wanted to be a horologist and I wish I'd pursued that.

18. What movies do you adore?

My absolute favourite film is unironically The Devil Wears Prada.

Current update: we didn’t hang out because we both got sick on the same day, which is going to make things awkward at work because no one is going to believe we DIDN’T hook up, but she called me again last night so we could talk until we fell asleep. We stayed on the phone for almost four hours. At one point she googled “questions to ask when you’re getting to know someone” as a joke but we ended up answering a lot of them. One was, “What do you like about me?” and she said, “Never mind, you don’t have to answer that.” Later, when the gaps of silence were getting longer because we were both struggling to stay awake, she quietly said, “What do you like about me?” I said, “You’re captivating. I never want to stop looking at you or talking to you. I love your laugh. I love being the one to make you laugh. When you touch me, it’s electric. Your eyes. You’re so soft and good.” She said, “Don’t tell anyone. I have a reputation to protect. I hate my laugh. I’ll usually cover my mouth when I laugh. I forget to do it when I’m around you.”

This isn't a surprise secret knowledge, because he is an American male athlete, but American football is a mystery to me

Need Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto BJs) and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (Arizona Diamondbacks) to team up to teach me every swear word they've ever learned (all languages) but midway through teaching me creative ways of swearing in Korean that they learned from their teammates, I want to find out that Lourdes is actually really into Latine diaspora poetry and suddenly international swear words 101 become Lourdes reciting to me (enraptured and in tears) and Vladdy (bored, half-asleep on Lourdes' shoulder) his favorite diaspora poetry in their original language.

And finally, I would like a panel of the oldest men in existence (the 2021 San Francisco Giants) to talk to me about the hobbies they picked up post-career and I want to find out Buster Posey and Ryan Vogelsong do French pour together bc it is literally the only thing that could make me love them less but I want Buster to describe the act of making such art so poetically in his wonderful Georgia accent that I feel moved to try it myself even though I think french pour sucks.

Oh!!! I forgot my all time favorite Tim Lincecum (San Francisco Giants). Sorry Timmy. I want him to teach me psychoactive teas and then tell me about his favorite aliens while he's preparing kava. Brent Rooker can guest co-host that episode.

they were talking about root. i have now lost count of the times they have referred to root as the captain. can someone please tell them.

I rewound, they were talking about Joe, but then changed focus to Morgs as he was on strike and did the whole ‘goer, now he’s gone’ bit.

But yes, not happy with Joe being constantly referred to as the captain.
