Imagine being Hajime in the Ultimate Talent Development Plan and having to deal with Nagito. This guy keeps following you around telling you how arrogant you are but also insulting himself. He refuses to cheer for you when you play basketball. You try to give him a handshake and he won’t let go. He tells you that you’re talentless. He’s in love with you.

Nagito's freak out in Chapter 1 feels like a breakup for Nagito and Hajime in ways.
Whether he wants to admit it or not Hajime still cares for Nagito and that's conflicting for Hajime. He doesn't want to think about his feelings, he's upset and confused, and he feels as if he was tricked by Nagito. He's practically heartbroken,
"How could someone so kind hearted and pleasant to be around trick me like this?"
But even so, curiously, upset, and frustratedly, Hajime wants to understand Nagito. He wants to understand him, and he's afraid of him because, I mean, a guy who thinks anything in the name of hope is okay even murder, is scary who can blame him!
sorry im just yapping at 4am idk what im saying with this other than it parallels the feelings of a breakup LOL
