Hello I'm back with character challenges!
Saito's referring to this live drama, and the next year Okita did appear there too.

Hello! How are you doing? Can I request some general dating headcanons for the Ishin boys? Like Nakaoka, Todo and Sasaki? Thanks! <3
ISHIN TIME AGAIN let's go, also nice pick of characters anon, I almost never see people write about Sasaki and Nakaoka so I'm eager to give it my best.
Nakaoka Shintaro
Laidback but intelligent is a great description of him in general. He's a perceptive and logical guy, great at handling things like finances. Definitely more of a longterm, settle down type of partner.
Not shy at all, actually. Typically works up the courage to confess by himself and is a clear communicator. Very kind and gentle but always to the point.
He is quite aware that he's an older bachelor which is one of his few internal struggles. He also is still wrestling with the death of his boss, Yoshida Toyo. Although this particular event doesn't weigh too heavily on his day to day life, he will sometimes want to talk about it.
Bit of a doting figure, type of guy to be like "Ah, your sandal is starting to break..." or to offer to mend a hole in your yukata. Has some handyman skills stowed away.
When it comes to dates, his one weakness is he can be indecisive about where to go and what to do. Prefers to collaborate with you on ideas or activities rather than just drag you somewhere because he said so.
Overall, a very good partner, great for a domestic and longterm relationship. Not a very sexual person unfortunately, but he is a warm and cozy person when it comes to affection at home.
Todo Heisuke
He's a little bit of a fox, constantly has an air of mischief about him. You can blame it on his young age, he won't take offense. He's well aware he's the youngest Shinsengumi captain, but that didn't stop him from doing well so he doesn't see it as a setback or insult.
Having said that, he is prone to boyish tendencies. He's kind of a troublemaker, probably the type of kid to play with firecrackers or sneak rice crackers when he wasn't supposed to. He's less devilish these days but you can still see that glint in his eye or hear that snarkiness in his voice.
Energetic and talkative. Easy to talk to and he's always down to do activities with you. More likely than not, the two of you will go on several dates long before either of you confess, or even realize you two are into each other.
Not much when it comes to confessing, he kind of just lets it out without any crazy fanfare or romanticization. He's quite sly so be warned he can be such a huge flirt, especially if he thinks you're into him. Even more so if he's also into you.
Great at planning dates, especially dinner dates. Knows all the best places to eat, just say the word. It doesn't matter if it's noodles, fish, dessert, even tea. He's an expert.
In a relationship, he's such a hugger. Almost always has an arm around you or is leaning is head on you.
A flashy dresser and sometimes talks really loud. If you tell him to tone it down, he will though. Mostly he doesn't realize he's being noisy.
If you're ever in trouble, call on Todo and he will be there in an instant, sword at the ready. Anyone that's ever thought of messing with you won't anymore because he will not hesitate to cut them, and quite deeply too.
Out of the three boys here, he has the highest sex drive. Very high endurance too so watch out.
Sasaki Tadasaburo
Big man with a surprisingly big heart. His strong and stoic aura and commanding demeanor is a far cry from who he is when it comes to romance.
A disciplined and respected man who carries himself with good manners, although he can be prone to stubborness. As leader of the Mimawarigumi, he can also be somewhat hotheaded.
When it comes to romance, he'll likely court you in a more old fashioned sense, doing it all proper like and then some. It may seem dumb or weird but really it's more so that Sasaki is the type of guy to hold great reverance for familial relationships. He thinks a romantic relationship with a long term partner should be respected as such.
Once he starts letting his guard down, you'll see that he's much more of a normal man than people make him out to be in the rumors. Some of his characteristics still hold true, like his stubborness, but deep down he's a guy who needs companionship like anyone else.
Does enjoy a good drink every now and then and will welcome you to do the same with him. Doesn't get to go out on the town much as work keeps him fairly busy but when he does, it's usually with you.
Keeps a rather organized household. If you end up living with him or marrying him, you can expect it to be a fairly beautiful home. He has a bit of money to his name so you'll at least be comfortable, he'll make sure of it.
Aware that he's older in age but he would like to maybe have a kid someday, perhaps when his work is less straining on him. That aside, he's got an average sex drive but he's definitely a top. He doesn't have a breeding kink or anything like that but you might develop one over time, honestly.

Ryoma's Short Story from the Manyo no Shou Special Edition Booklet
This is the last short story from the booklet, and it's the only story that does not take place at the Nishi Hongan-ji Temple.
Sorry that I cannot find a way of translating the Tosa dialect of Ryoma in English though :(
This SS was written by 長野 和泉
Tumblr media
(I went back later than I thought. I wonder if Chizuru is already asleep.)
Under the dim light of the paper lanterns that floated in the darkness, I hurried towards the inn where I was staying with the person who interested me the most right now –– Yukimura Chizuru.
We were traveling together to the east, gathering information while chasing after our former friend, Nakaoka Shintaro, who had turned into a fury.
(If she’s asleep, it would be rude to wake her up.)
I arrived in front of our room and opened the sliding door carefully, trying not to make any noise.
And then…
“Ah… Ryoma-san. Welcome back.”
Chizuru greeted me in a clear voice and with a smile. It seemed that she was doing some mending. She had a sewing box that she apparently borrowed from the hostess of the inn.
“I didn’t expect that you’d be up at this hour. Didn’t you feel sleepy while waiting for me? You could have gone to bed first.”
“No, not at all. I was just so taken up by the needlework that I didn’t notice time passing.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really.”
She answered with a troubled smile while deftly tying up the loose threads, and then she stuck the needle into the pincushion.
But right after that, a tiny yawn escaped from her lovely lips.
“Ah…”
“See, I know you feel tired. ”
As I said that, I wrapped my arms lightly around her slender shoulders.
She seemed embarrassed and shrank back.
“Anyways, thank you. You must have been holding back your fatigue and waiting for me until this late.”
“…!”
Chizuru wasn’t used to being hugged by a man like this, and her body stiffened. But she didn’t seem to hate it, and when I gently traced along her shoulders with my palm, she seemed to relax a bit.
At this distance, where we could feel each other’s breath and the slightest movements of our lips, she was clearly bewildered. After a while, she looked at me hesitantly.
“But… Ryoma-san, you’ve been reckless lately, and I’m worried about you.”
There was not a hint of a lie in her eyes.
From her eyes and her words, I could tell that she was overflowing with concern and care for me.
(To be worried about by a woman like this, it’s a man’s dream come true… )
With these thoughts in my mind, I stroked Chizuru’s hair gently while still holding her shoulders.
“I’m sorry for making you worry. There’s a lot to do tomorrow too, so let’s go to bed soon.”
As I urged her, I could feel Chizuru’s slender shoulders twitch under my palms. Her eyes, which looked at me intently a while ago, wavered with anxiety.
“What’s wrong? Are you scared?”
Then she shook her head frantically, looking nervous.
“N-no, that’s not the case…! I know very well that Sakamoto-san is not the kind of person who would do something strange without a woman’s consent.”
“That’s right, you understand me well. I wouldn’t bother with a woman who doesn’t love me.”
After saying that, I stared into Chizuru’s eyes. And then, I added this.
“…Well, I do think you’ve come to love me a lot more than when we first met.”
Then Chizuru’s cheeks turned all red in an instant.
“H-how can you be so confident! I never said anything like that…!”
“I said ‘compared to when we first met’, didn’t I? I’ll lay out the futon, so please wait for me.”
She was fun to watch with her exaggerated reactions. I thought to myself as I got up.
“Ryoma-san, I can lay out the futon…”
“Don’t worry about it. Leave this to me. You can just go and change into your nightgown.”
“But…”
“You’ve been waiting for me all day, and you must feel rather lonely. So let me do the chores for you.”
Chizuru thought for a while, but she must have realized that it was meaningless to refuse any more.
“Then… thank you for your kindness. I’ll be right back.”
After bowing her head slightly, she left the room to change into her nightgown.
After we both changed our clothes, we turned off the light and went to bed.
“Good night, Chizuru. Have a sweet dream.”
“Good night.”
Chizuru’s voice from the futon next to me sounded relieved, and my heart was warmed by it. But…
(I feel a bit unsatisfied if I just go to sleep like this.)
As I thought so, I turned over lightly and called out to the futon next to me.
“…Hey, Chizuru.”
“What is it?”
When Chizuru turned to look at me, I got up on my hands on the tatami and leaned over her futon.
Her big eyes looked back at me with curiosity.
I didn’t give her any opportunity for hesitation, and kissed her softly on the forehead.
“…!”
I felt her gasp. And then, her big eyes blinked twice.
“Ryoma-san! What are you…”
It was the second time I kissed her on the forehead, and besides, Chizuru was old enough to get married, so I didn’t expect her to be in such a panic.
(Is she naïve or inexperienced…? I’m getting worried about a lot of things.)
This idea came across my mind, and I let out a bitter smile.
As I was tracing her lips which were trembling out of confusion with my finger, I said.
“I’m happy that you trust me, but I don’t want to be seen as just a safe guy. Next time, I’ll go for your lips, so be prepared.”
I was half-serious. Chizuru was speechless, her face red and her lips quivering.
(Seeing this expression on her makes me satisfied…)
I lightly tapped her shoulders over the futon.
“Well then, good night. Since you’re here, then I hope you dream of me.”
I said and returned to my own futon-
“What are you saying! How can I dream of Ryoma-san after what you did… I don’t think I will be even able to fall asleep in peace!”
Chizuru was so embarrassed that she covered her head with her blanket and decided to sleep.
(Oh well. It seems like it will take some time for us to be able to have a mature romance. Well, there’s no need to rush…)
I thought so as I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to come.

Making Sakamoto a character of sense
Hakuouki - a game about the Shinsengumi - but why is there a Sakamoto Ryoma?
Let me create a sequal idea to make him more sense:
(character designs are based on Mahoroba Kanata and Jinbaku)
story idea: the story envolves around Tosa, Satsuma and Choshu characters and their lives (content with the ochimizu/ demons might be added which allows different endings)
game play: otome with several heroines:
O-Ryo going down Sakamotos route of course
Tumblr media
O-Masa & O-Uno going down Takasugi Shinsaku, the historic death of him is the tragic ending
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ikumatsu following Katsura Kogoro as a former geisha to his wife
Tumblr media
Sumiko, the tragic story about Itō Chunsuke former wife (and maybe a secret happy ending?)
Tumblr media
The "datable" guys:
Sakamoto Ryoma: a man of great dreams, a pacifistic mind set, who hopes to change Japan, without it becoming property of foreign countries
Takasugi Shinsaku: a smart guy who is often bored and tries to expand his horizon as far as even traveling to Shanghai, who suffers Tuberculosis.
Katsura Kogoro: a patriot that cares too much about his han and it's well-being. He gets injured in the Hamaguri Jiken and starts to rethink his life.
Itō Chunsuke: a carefree man, that realises he loses the most precious thing, can he stop it from happening?
Maybe as secret routes:
Fumi and Yamagata Kousuke sad love story??
Nakaoka Shintaro and a secret lover?
Or Kimotsuki Kanetake's story told from Komatsu Chika or his concubine Mikikoto
I mean Hakuouki made a similar idea based game named Hakuouki Uragata, which was less popular. Maybe it would help if they would completely cut off from Hakuouki so it can stand and shine alone.

Revealing in Nature's Serenity in the Heart of Kyoto
Maruyama park is the ideal spot to relax and unwind after a busy day. This tranquil garden has cherry trees, as well in other natural beauty spots. It is the perfect location to reconnect with nature and renew your soul. The delicate cherry blossoms of spring and the beautiful red maple leaves in fall create a beautiful spot to walk around and enjoy the beauty of nature. 1. Weeping Cherry Trees Maruyama Park is one of Kyoto's most famous cherry blossom spots and must-sees for anyone visiting Kyoto. It is located in the shadow of Yasaka Shrine, in Higashiyama. The park covers 86,000 square metres, and is home to gardens, picnic areas as well as restaurants. Weeping cherry trees are a part of an enclosed rise in front of the shrine, attracting crowds of visitors who come to view the blooms both day and at night. The Gion shidare zakura, or weeping cherry tree, is especially charming, with its graceful branches filled with delicate pink blooms. The park also has various other cherry species, including Someiyoshino (a hybrid between Oshima and Edohigan cherry) and yamazakura "doubled cherry trees" which bloom one week longer than Gion's. In the night, a few of these sakura with drooping branches are lit and surrounded by small food and souvenir stalls, serving beer, grilled seafood or takoyaki (octopus balls). 2. Japanese Gardens If you're in Kyoto to view the cherry blossoms or you just desire to take in nature's serenity, Maruyama Park is the place to go. The beautiful garden - which is the oldest one in the city - provides an oasis of peace away from the masses of tourists who visit the many sites. The area is popular with locals to go for hanami, or flowers viewing. The weeping cherry tree in the center of the park is lit up which makes it a breathtaking sight to see. The stunning garden is a perfect example of the precision and beauty that is the hallmark of Japanese gardens. The tea houses, twisted old trees and ponds filled with rare fish species are carefully planted to ensure peace.

3. Food Stalls A stroll through Maruyama Park is a great opportunity to relax in the natural peace. This park draws all kinds of people, from parents with small children and artists who paint or draw the forest scenery. Hanami which is the spectacle of spring flowers, is also very popular in this area. Japanese enjoy picnics in the park, under cherry trees. There are food stands that sell grilled fish and meats, and also sticky rice balls and beer. A huge weeping tree is located in the park, and is illuminated in the evening when it's flowering. It's a gorgeous sight both in the daytime and at night. It should be seen by anyone who loves cherry blossoms! 4. The sculptural Maruyama Park is one of Kyoto's most well-known spots. It has lots to provide. The park is vast and filled with the cherry blossoms, a lake and trails for walking. The park's public design was created in 1886, and is located close to Yasaka Shrine in the Higashiyama district in east Kyoto. This is a great spot to see some of the best cherry blossoms in Kyoto. The park also features statues of Sakamoto Ryoma and Nakaoka Shintaro two samurai fighters who were killed in the Bakumatsu period. The bronze statues can be located in the vicinity of the Maruyama Park entrance. 5. History Kyoto is famous for its blossoms of cherry and there's no better spot to enjoy them than in Maruyama Park. The garden is open to the public and has more than 680 cherry tree varieties. It's essential for those visiting Kyoto. Jihei Ogawa was a landscape architect who constructed this park on land which was once home to a number of temples. However, they were destroyed by fire. The park was designed by Jihei Ogawa around a central lake, and also built tea houses to take a break. It is also a memorial to two national heroes who died fighting the Tokugawa shogunate: Sakamoto Ryoma and Nakaoka Shintaro. The two samurai fighters are believed to have been executed by Kyoto police in 1867, and there's a statue of them near the park. Credits to YouTube

Who’s the most handsome man at the end of the Edo period?
Poll results from June 2000 (link)
The June issue is “Beautiful men of the Bakumatsu”. Whether I like it or not, when I think about who was the most beautiful man in the Bakumatsu, the answer is "Hijikata Toshizo”. As you can see in the result, Hijikata Toshizo is number one! As expected, there are still photos and anecdotes of him, so this is understandable. Continuing on, second place Okita-san. Is this wishful thinking? And third place goes to Iba Hachiro! I guess Iba-san is a bit of a minor player. 😂 After all, Iba-san has many anecdotes. And looking at the whole story, it’s very interesting, with a mixture of shogunate and anti-shogunate factions. I can understand Otori Keisuke and Kasuga Saemon in the last part! I think there are a lot of people in the last days of the Tokugawa Shogunate who have a reputation for being beautiful men. I wonder if those who have done amazing work naturally have a tighter look on their faces? Or are there really many beautiful men? That's amazing...
1st place - Hijikata Toshizo (46 votes)
A popular person in Iromachi☆
Gufufu, how wonderful this person is can't be described in 50 characters.
Her looks are of course cool, but her way of life is even cooler than anything else! ! !
Kacchobu!
Even if you look at it now, it's still the second one! !
Because it's Hijikata-san! !
A handsome man like an actor...
The word handsome is for this person.
I think he is the most handsome man in the Bakumatsu era.
That word is for Hijikata-san☆
A good match with Iba-san☆
It's Hijikata-san!
Because he's handsome.
From the unconvinced Souji.
I mean, the photos are still there, right?
If it's beauty, then this person (^^)
Perfect beauty
The one who pulled me into the end of the Edo period! Because it is openly recognized as the second one.
This person exists at the end of the Edo period☆
Nice anyway
Good looking! ! !
He looks younger than his age and is so cool that I can't help but write it down vv
2nd place - Okita Souji (18 votes)
Okita-san is a beautiful woman, and when it comes to beauty, Hijikata-san.
More beautiful than a handsome boy! ? (smile)
I wonder if there is only this person after all... Hijikata-san too.
Characteristically (imagine!) Handsome... no?
After all, he's a handsome boy.
After all, there is only Okita-san!
A strong man is the best! !
A genius beautiful swordsman! I love you, Okita-sensei!
After all, it must be Mr. Okita! !
cool! !
3rd place - Iba Hachiro (8 votes)
The photo is a strange burn
The one-armed genius beautiful swordsman is this person~~~
A beautiful swordsman with one arm! Speaking of which, I wonder if it's this person ♪
e? Is it wrong?
"Bad taste" is the best! (... what?)
4th place - Todo Heisuke (5 votes)
I still have the testimony
It seems that there is dignity.
Even among the Shinsengumi, it seems to have entered the best 3. But Okita-sensei was great...
5th place tie - Katsura Kogoro (3 votes)
Isn't it cool
cool person
5th place tie - Nakaoka Shintaro (3 votes)
Some kind of dusty good man
Doesn't he look like a man among men!
I love Nakaoka-san's smiling photo! It's interesting with some mushy photos
7th place - Harada Sanosuke (2 votes)
Because the book I read the other day said he was a handsome man. I think it's actually cool
8th place tie - Katamori Matsudaira (1 vote)
Nice things are nice!
8th place tie - Kashitaro Ito (1 vote)
Somehow, I dared to aim for a minor route. (Ignore any portraits!)
8th place tie - Otori Keisuke (1 vote)
I think you're on the right track...
8th place tie - Kasuga Saemon (1 vote)
Because hey...
