Dad!Ren and his daughter Shayla (My OC fankid!!!)

FINALLY, after some hard work i represent to you.. My OC Shayla! Shayla is based on the official cutiesigh artwork with AU Dad!Ren. This post will have all the basic info about her so far + some headcanons about Ren's family life and his relationship with Shayla. So it's going to be a kinda? long post! I've put a lot of work and love into these arts. Enjoy :3

Clarification: in my AU, where there is Shayla, Redacted doesn't pretend to be Ren, but acts naturally! But I use both names in the text

Shayla is a kind, naive, sincere, energetic and cheerful girl who is always looking for adventure. But often, due to her age, her trusting nature and her curiosity, she doesn't always understand the risks and ends up in various messes. The girl is very friendly to everyone she meets! She believes that the world is a kind and beautiful place! Some kids think that Shayla is strange and weird (at least because of her "weird" family), which is why she gets mocked, but she doesn't read social cues (she's kinda autistic coded).

Likes: creative activities (drawing, needlework, sewing (not very wearable yet), making different outfits, daddy's jewelry, laughing, getting up early, climbing trees.

Dislikes: being controlled and restricted, rudeness, social games (she doesn't understand them).

She is the only and most wanted child for Ren and Angel, they had her when they were 30-35 years old. They love her very much!! Thanks to Ren, the family is very wealthy! Redacted spoils her a lot, fulfills all her wishes (well, as much as possible, since it's all after Angel, of course). In Shayla's family, both parents work, but Ren does it from home like he used to. So while Angel is at work, Redacted spends most of his time with their daughter. He picks her up from school, takes her to classes, goes for walks with her + does the housework, cooks, etc (basically he's a stay-at-home dad, because I don't think he needs to spend half a day on hacking; a couple of three hours is enough). With the birth of Shayla, Ren has begun to keep an eye not only on Angel, but also on their daughter, though not as closely. Thanks to this, he manages to get the girl out of trouble in time, but he often arrives at the very last moment.

Shayla is very attached to her father, she thinks he is the coolest dad in the world!!! She loves spending time with him, as well as his dark style and tattoos! She is a daddy's girl :))

While Angel is undoubtedly still Ren's top priority, Redacted genuinely loves his daughter both as an affirmation/continuation of their love with Angel AND for who she is. Her cheerful nature often lifts his spirits. Now, he has another person in his life who helps him see the world through a different, less apathetic and indifferent lens. Ren sees how naive and kind his daughter is and protects her to keep that light in her. And when Shayla comes up with questionable ideas… He supports her! He even suggests something himself😭 BUT even he has limits. He will not do anything that might harm her.

RANDOM FACTS AND HEADCANONS:

I named her after that meme OOHH MY SHAYLAAA😭 (I didn't have a name for her at first, so I just called her that in my mind for a while. It was actually quite funny to me… but eventually it started to grow on me, ngl, so I kept it)

You know those stories where a kid goes into their mom's makeup bag, purse, or closet and tries on something? In this case, mom is Ren💀 Shayla loves to find all kinds of alt stuff from Redacted, ask what it is, and then try it on herself! Redacted gave her some - a spiked bracelet and a silver chain!

Ren agrees to paint Shayla's nails. She wears all the colors of the rainbow, but she likes to keep all her nails black on one hand, though!

Thanks to the creative atmosphere in the family and Redacted's alternative style, Shayla will be a goth in the future! She's also going to become an alt-clothing designer.

She is wearing three of the five gold hairpins that Ren used to wear! When Redacted and Angel got married, he started wearing only two hairpins - a symbol of their relationship. Years later, when Shayla was born and grew up, the rest of the hairpins were inherited to her, and she wears them with great pride, just like the rest of her dad's jewelry.

Shayla also has her dad's features. She has pale, dry skin and black hair. However, her eyes are a unique combination of Ren's color (blue) + my Angel's (red) = creating a beautiful purple color for her.(I know that's not how gynetics works lmaoo I just think it's cute!!!)

As I have been promising for years, the eye color chart is all cleaned up and ready to be shared! I'm totally ok with this being saved and passed around, that's why all my info is on it.

This model has been in a process of expansion and tweaking for a very long time. Huge huge thanks to all the folks who contributed and hunted down photos, helped me name all the colors, and gave the final proofs!

Sparrow's Eye Color Chart 2025 Edition

Eye colors in cats are difficult to model because they vary to a significant extent on two axes. This is my best attempt at a general model of cat eye color based on observation and research into how eye color works across species.

Pigmentation refers to the amount of pigment in the colored layer of the iris. Higher pigmentation causes darker colors.

Refraction means the extent to which light is scattered in the structures of the iris. Higher refraction causes deeper blues or greens.

Eye colors are related to coat color, but not as closely as breed standards might have you believe! Most coat colors can have most eye colors outside of purebred lines selected to meet breed standard.

What Color Are My Cat's Eyes?

Color names are descriptive of the actual color of the cat's eyes - I chose them all to sound nice so that breeders can use them if desired. Note that breed standards have a much broader use of color names - "Amber", for example, may include much of the golden to orange range.

Colors are based on pictures of cats in full white light (such as midday sun fully illuminating the eye), and tweaked to look good on properly color-calibrated screens. Always determine eye colors based on how they look in full light.

Main Block

Every cat is assumed to have genes that specify some genetic eye color in the main block, but certain other alleles can depigment the eyes partially or completely, creating the lower block.

Pigmentation and Refraction are modeled here as dependent on multiple genes, which seems to best fit the wide spectrum of possibilities in cats. The actual number of genes is unknown and could be very many, but for simplicity they are shown here on a scale from 1-7.

In theory, the genetic eye colors of the offspring should tend to fall somewhere between the genetic eye colors of the parents. Then, any depigmentation factors are applied, which may result in an actual eye color somewhere below the genetic eye color.

Lower Block

occur with phenotypes which cause depigmentation of the iris.

Gray-blues: Fairly rare coloration. The cause of gray eyes in humans is not well understood, but one theory is that collagen or very small amounts of pigment in the eye alter the scattering of light.

Blues: Most common depigmented colors. Can be caused by white spotting/dominant white, colorpoint, and sometimes mocha. There are also multiple Dominant Blue-eye (DBE) mutations known which cause blue eyes as the main effect.

Albinistic: Caused by complete albinism, which also fully depigments the back layer of the iris meant to keep light from getting through. This allows the red color from the retinal blood vessels to bleed through, and also causes poor visual acuity.

Following is a list of all eye colors shown on the main diagram. Rows are pigmentation levels starting from the highest pigmentation, refraction increases from left to right.

Main Block: Copper, Chestnut, Umber, Walnut, Earthen, Olive, Moss; Ochre, Caramel, Bronze, Serpentine, Artichoke, Fern, Forest; Orange, Amber, Brass, Peridot, Avocado, Clover, Malachite; Saffron, Butterscotch, Shrub, Spring, Jade, Pine, Emerald; Gold, Citron, Pear, Lime, Mantis, Grass, Viridian; Yellow, Chartreuse, Sprout, Laurel, Mint, Turquoise, Teal; Canary, Chiffon, Honeydew, Sage, Celadon, Aqua, Cerulean.

Lower Block: Gray-blues: Frost, Opal, Flint, Storm, Steel, Slate, Cadet. Blues: Ice, Powder, Celeste, Sky, Azure, Lapis, Cobalt. Albinistic: Pink, Mauve, Lavender, Periwinkle, Cornflower, Royal, Indigo.

Combo Colors

Cats can exhibit a few different heterochromia types, most commonly a blue with a non-blue. The other most common cause for heterochromia appears to be localized hyperpigmentation, which can be caused by damage to the eye. It can also happen simply due to differing iris structure or unusual pigment migration within the iris.

It is also relatively common for the center of the eye to be a slightly different color, without being marked enough to constitute full heterochromia. My provisionary term for this is "dual-toned". The boundary between this and "true" central heterochromia is somewhat subjective.

For any form of heterochromia or dual-toned eyes, my recommendation for describing them is to note both colors with a slash. For dual-tones, I generally write the outer color before the center one.

Complete Heterochromia Blue/non-blue is commonly caused by white spotting/dominant white, other combos are rare.

Sectoral Heterochromia Blue/non-blue sometimes occurs with white spotting/dominant white. Can also be from hyperpigmentation.

Central Heterochromia Can occur due to hyperpigmentation, uneven pigment distribution, or iris structure. More common in certain breeds.

Dual-toned Irises Relatively small differences in central eye color are common in cats.

Iris Atrophy Iris atrophy due to old age can cause a distinctive lighter ring in the center of the iris.

Benichidori is jirai kei

Benichidori's modern look is very iconic to the japanese alt fashion movement jirai kei! The archetype associated with it even fits her in interesting ways. Here's what and why

(The untranslated top part reads something like: "If their world was our modern world, Benichidori would have worn contacts and drawn tear troughs.)

The two most damning features are her very distinct makeup and pink & black hair combo! Incredibly iconic. The iconic jirai kei has a very specific look, being dressed in pink and black or some white, with casual chic type blouse and skirt, but the "subcul jirai", a somewhat debatable semantic, is used for the look of jirai kei that has become more neglected in its wider image with time, for example very commonly seen wearing a huge loose shirt like a dress. Baggy & loose, primarily dark with pastel embellishments is a way to sum it up. Something dark with an edge of innocent.

I'm gonna be quoting the aesthetics wiki because I think they put it better than I could. I also recommend the japanese fashion wiki for more info and visuals— Here I tried to pick references that are more subcul and less front and center, but for example Benichidori's exact hairstyle is common if you look around. "地雷系 is a subculture originating from Japan that is heavily based on the teens hanging out in the night life of Kabukichō (a red light district). During the height of its popularity it highly resembled Japanese Girly fashion, especially dark girly, but has since moved on to integrate a broader variety of styles. The stereotype behind this subculture is that cute, hyperfeminine young women who dress in darker fashion styles have personalities that do not match their appearance. Rather than being sweet and demure, they are said to be violent and obsessive (like a Yandere), and-"

I'll spare the gritty, more sensitive details, but yes the reputation of this style is based on very stigmatized negative assumptions of its wearers being emotionally unstable, with mood swings. Jirai in the first place means landmine, so the name associated to the fashion being "landmine" gives you an idea of the stereotypes associated with those who wear it, it's the same idea as with calling someone a ticking time bomb.

Which brings us to our girl! Very quiet yes, very demure, looks pretty and does her job in elegance and silence. Until…

Mood swings is right! For Benichidori analyses I have other posts, but it's clear Benichidori has her sensitive spots and anxiety spikes that can get her to lash out- canonically stated dysmorphia, black on white text on her profile, in fact.

So yes lots of dark and problematic roots with this movement, both in actual events surrounding it and the way they are treated for it. Needing money for a host addiction (Host clubs- Usually predatory industry where people grow an attachment to the escort they buy time with/for. I recommend the oneshot Kamiya by Tsubasa Yamaguchi that depicts this), gang affiliations, trafficking... And well, Benichidori does have experience with one of these.

But yeahh! I want people to draw more of modern Beni, basically. Love her. Give her attention. This could even be used as ship fodder. Hienbeni Benichidori yandere confirmed. Did you know? Modern Rin is goth/dark girly, according to her summer sketchpage look <3 I love thinking of them hanging out, rinbeni real. The ninja trio girlies all trying out alt fashion together and aaa 💕

I found so many clips of people all telling the story of how jirai kei is not so secretly messed up and yada yada when I first looked into the subculture, but it is good to know that jirai kei/dark girly clothing is being worn a lot by people not part of its culture as well, apparently! It's becoming more mainstream, so to speak. Still, in my heart Beni remains my landmine girl……… 🫶

Because I love Jerry Stokes so much obviously this will be oc x canon with him!!! I’ve come up with the origins on how they met off the top of my head and it goes something like this:

Stephanie goes to the comic book shop (disguised with baggy clothes and a hoodie over her head to avoid harassment by the boys considering she is a chick) with the intention of seeing— maybe even stealing— any new stuff that may have been put up on the shelves and wtv.

She doesn’t go there often to not risk detection, so she’s always fascinated by the things she sees in there (like she is with everything honestly). she bumps right into Jerry becuz she is distracted, and they apologize and talk for a while.

Jerry is retarded (because he is blonde) so it takes Stephanie pulling down her hoodie outside the comic shop for him to realize she’s a chick and he gets nervous and dips lmao but Stephanie really likes him so she kind of just follows him whenever she spots him. Neither have confessed to the other yet.

Out of every OC I’ve made for a show, this is probably the one I’ve projected onto the least. Usually they’d be white with red(ish) hair but this one is neither of those things and I’m glad I finally broke free from that cage and I can make my ocs their own person lmao (although her fashion is definitely projected onto from me)

i have been trying to get better abt uploading stuff w alt text lately and alt text is interesting bc at first i used to shy away from the idea of like...putting in any info that a viewer couldn't objectively glean from looking at it, in terms of like, "the experience of reading/hearing the alt text should be as accurate to the experience of looking at the image as possible"?

but then i realized like. when the setup is such that anyone can see the alt text (like on here + bluesky) that doesn't make the amount of info different for different ppl -- everyone can see it! it's just a net increase of info even if u do add non-apparent/"extra" tidbits

it also just feels more natural to write even stuff just like. calling my ocs by name (and writing alt text in first person!) vs i always felt a little weird + stilted going "the... OP's sylvari commander oc...." about my own stuff LIKE I'M OP + I KNOW THAT GUY. [POINTING WITH POPCORN] THATS GLYNDWR

basically shaking off my instinct to be really rigid and clinical with alt text has been really helpful. i'm very happy that bsky has helped me get better at remembering to add it + that repetition has made writing it in the first place easier!! it's nice!!

Literally how to add alt text:

On desktop, click on the kebab menu button in the bottom right corner of the image after you upload it into the editor. That gives you the option to "update the image description". You can even edit it after it's been posted! On mobile, it's basically the same: add the image to the editor, click the kebab menu button in the bottom right, and tap "add alt text".

Figuratively, how to write alt text:

So alt text is first and foremost an accessibility tool. In my experience, the people who rely on alt text the most are people who are visually impaired or blind, faceblind, can't understand facial expressions, and those who have spotty internet.

Let's do some examples! I'll put all the IDs in each image's alt text. (To view alt text without a screen reader: On desktop, hover over the lower left corner to find the alt text button. On mobile, the alt text button should always be in the lower left corner of the image.)

What's important to know about this image?

It's a meme. Please do not just say "It's the X meme" because chances are very high that the meme has never been described. DO describe the image as though the person doesn't know the meme!

Who's in it? If you want to go lighter on detail you can just say "Rlain". If you want to go heavier on detail (like I did in this alt text) you can describe his uniform, the fact that he's in Warform, the fact that this warform has two shoulder spikes, carapace on the back of the hands, and skull carapace. The level of detail here is up to you. Considering this is a meme and generally people take it in pretty quickly, you might go light on the detail to focus on the humour. I didn't in this one, but you could, haha! I tend to err on the side of overly detailed with my IDs.

What's the facial expression? I simply tell the reader that Rlain looks disappointed because that's helpful info for those who can't read expressions.

Who's the artist? This is generally pretty easy, as chances are you'll be describing your own art. Put your name on the art, and put your name in the description!

Here's another example:

This one's a little more abstract, a little more artsy, so in my alt text I spend a little more time with the detail. You might notice I describe the vibes of Jaxlim's style of speech rather than what they look like literally. So I say "the lines lose their rhythm and falter" rather than something like "flowing jagged lines that start around Jaxlim's head and wander in front of Venli and over her head". For me, I feel the first version makes it easier to get across the meaning of the piece, which is more what the conversation will be about. I didn't mention Venli's form or the colours of the room or the vague map on the wall because they don't give relevant information about the meaning of the piece.

All that being said, those are mostly style tips. At its most basic and most meaningful, alt text is simply saying what's in the image. If you're describing what you see, you're doing it right!

TIPS

Know Your Representatives You have 2 senators (based on your state) and1 representative (based on your address). They all have an office in Washington DC and a local office.

Call Their DC Office First Ask if there’s a staffer assigned to the topic you’re calling about. If no one picks up, leave a message and call the local office.

State Basic Info Upfront Starting off with your name, city and zip code will make it easier for the staffer answering your call to record your stance.

Be Precise Try to talk about 1-2 issues per call. If you have multiple issues, make separate calls.

When Should I Call? Anytime! Every day! Prioritizing subjects related to upcoming senate votes is wise, but any call is useful in informing your reps what’s important to you.

What Do I Say? You can look up call guide scripts online! Making it personal is fantastic, but keep it precise, around 1-2 sentences.

Phone Anxiety? You can call after hours or on the weekend to leave a voice mail!

Don’t Forget to Say Thanks! You can also call in if you’re happy with your representative! Encouragement goes a long way!

As far as how I went about “distributing” mei and Al’s features, I did make a list of who got what lol but that’s boring

I mostly just tried to stick with the golden eyes being a dominant trait, though none of the kids’ eyes are as bright as Al or Ed’s

I imagine that they would all learn a little bit of alchemy, alchehestry (??) or whatever combination Al comes up with!

Also, a note here, I was trying to think about how old mei actually is when I first came up with this idea, and it seems like during the canon she’s 13? And I think Al is 14 or 15.

Anyway they wouldn’t get together til a bit later, when Al is in xing, so that’s not a problem as far as I can tell

Brief Personality: Alex is on the surface a very kind person. Energetic, and always pulling various pranks in an attempt to entertain and cheer up his friends. Whenever there's a chance to pull someone's leg, he'll be the first one doing it. Despite that though, Alex never tends to take his pranks too far- and is extremely supportive of his friends when they need it. He struggles a lot with his own emotions, and in general, isn't really good at conveying how he feels.

Alex is fiercely protective of those he cares about, and he will immediately throw himself into the line of fire just to protect them. He is very rebellious, and this often leads him into situations that are severely out of his weight class.

Brief Backstory: Alex is a relatively regular person, at least compared to most in this place. He was born in 1999 to his parents and grew up in a relatively middle-class lifestyle. Although his family had some hard times, he generally grew up well taken care of.

He discovered the internet and Roblox at a young age and immediately fell in love with it. He finally had a group of like-minded people who could tolerate his shenanigans, which made him quite happy. He never really had many friends growing up, so he deeply cherished this friend group.

One person, though, he latched onto more than the others, and that was Daisy. Daisy was always there to come on and play with him and was one of the few people Alex would settle down with and talk about stuff with. Someone, he didn't feel the need to impress or entertain.

Despite that though, he was rather oblivious to Daisy's own troubles, something that eats him up to this day. Maybe if he had just noticed sooner, maybe if he had just told his mom he was worried about her, maybe...

...But the past is the past. Everyone's gone their own ways, and Alex is starting to feel that loneliness that he thought he had escaped start to creep back in. The memories are coming back, and it's starting to haunt him.

Also we use the f slur in a reclaiming way when referring to ourselves and friends who are ok with it, you're allowed to not like that but I recommend against following as we will not tag it.

Introducing Click Velvet and their Trojan (or 'Copycat'), Clickbait Page!

Some extra info about the both of 'em under the cut because I have far too much info about my babies :D.

(Jsyk there is. A lotta rambling under the cut. Most of the longer stuff is under Clickbait :,) )

Click Velvet:

-Click is a loner Addison, which - in my AU - basically he worked his way to 'sentience' on his own rather than having anybody else helping him through that process. 'Sentience' is the Addison equivalent of reaching maturity, since when they first spawn all they can really think and do is working and advertising, but they slowly start gaining their own thoughts and personalities over time as they mature.

-Click is the S/O of my main Orange Addi, Banner! I've made ship art of the two of them before ^-^

-Click is an EXTREME lover of stuffed animals, his favourite being a small duck plush he named 'Tap,' which became a third joking 'mascot' of his and Banner's catering service 'Click or Tap the Banner.'

-Their leg is partially malfunctional because of a car crash - the leg is mostly fine now, but there are days where the wiring goes slightly off and it glitches or has a slower response time than normal, so he always keeps a cane on hand in his inventory just in case he needs it.

-He's a very sweet individual, and a very talented baker - he and Banner even have a catering service for parties! Click knows how to make just about any sweet treat you cam think of, and even makes his own root beer (although he doesn't sell this, despite Banner's gentle nudging. He prefers to have it as a drink for himself). He also happens to live above his bakery in the attic. I'll have to draw his room someday!

-He can be a bit of a neat freak / germophobe at times :,) Not as much as Target, but all Pink Addisons have a tendency to want things to be tidy - Click is no exception. Every part of his bakery needs to be SPOTLESS before the open hours of the next day, or else he frets about if something will be too dirty.

-Red velvet is his favourite flavour of just about anything he can work it into, so that's what he made his middle name! Click Velvet :D

-Click's a great photographer! Since his whole purpose is to generate 'clicks' on his store / website, he photographs all of the products in his advertisements to make them look as appealing as possible to customers.

Clickbait Page:

-Clickbait spawned in when Click was 19 and had wandered into the Dark Web on accident - Trojan Addisons are essentially 'virus copies' of a normal Addi's code, with some of their personality traits being shared between them, while any and all natural physical traits are shared (looks, glitches, et cetera). They have a chance of spawning in whenever a normal Addison wanders into the Dark Web.

-Trojan Addis all have a mark inside their mouths that indicates they're a Trojan, which is a small Web logo in a glowing bluish-green colour.

-Clickbait doesn't share Click's malfunctional leg, but he does share his farsightedness - he wears contacts over his camera lenses for that, but only when he's writing. He also shares Click's asexuality, adoration of anything sweet, skill in a kitchen (although Clickbait's pertains to making drinks rather than food), germophobia, and love of plushies.

-Clickbait is the youngest overall of my Addis, and also the youngest in his family! Clickbait wasn't a loner when he spawned - he was taken in by two other Addis who eventually became his 'sister' and 'father,' they'll get ref sheets later. Even though he's technically the youngest, only having been around for 16 years, he has the same mental maturity as Click, most of which was gained after he became 'sentient.'

-His given job is writing 'clickbait' articles. Given jobs are basically the first jobs that an Addison is assigned to once they're created, Trojan or not, that relate to their purpose. As a result, he's a bit of a pathological liar, making him very skilled at making up pretty believable lies on the spot for the articles he writes in newspapers (basically the type of ads and articles you see that are like 'You WON'T BELIEVE what happens to [So-and-So Celebrity] after they used this product!!').

-His second job was given to him by his dad - working alongside his sister as a bartender in their dad's casino, the Sapphire Retire. His father is... also really strict, and doesn't really like the idea of Clickbait or his sister having other jobs beside the casino and their given jobs. Because of that, Clickbait keeps his third job - working at Cyber Shoes II as a supervisor - a secret from both of them. Although this does stretch him quite thin at times, between working at Cyber Shoes by day, the casino by night, and writing his articles in between both jobs - the casino, Cyber Shoes, and the newspaper printing house all being pretty far away from each other in Cyber City doesn't help either.

-Clickbait acts VERY differently between the casino and Cyber Shoes II - at the casino, he's more of his natural self, which is rather awkward, quiet, and a little dorky. At Cyber Shoes, however, he's... not exactly the nicest to be around. He acts like a cold, sarcastic jerk around his co-workers to keep them from questioning about his actual life, since he doesn't want to get too attached to the job in case his father finds out. He doesn't actually DISLIKE anyone there, he's merely trying to keep them out of his personal life by discouraging people from interacting.

-Clickbait adores taking pictures of his Tasque, Bread, and dressing it up in cute little outfits - he also spoils Bread to no end, treating him like a little prince.
