We got explicit confirmation multiple times that Nandor cares deeply about Guillermo and we got Guillermo realising his self-worth with perfectly reflected call backs between Jordan and Nandor.

you know, i can handle a little bit of fun "Nandor is dumb" talk, but i have a net-zero tolerance for any implication that Nandor is not educated.

Nandor would have been incredibly educated in his lifetime.

even (or especially) as a soldier in the Islamic World. being a soldier was more like getting sent to boarding school that's also a military camp. they weren't just concerned with creating loyal fodder for war. they were building the next government officials, generals, accountants, advisors, etc. it was important that young men knew how to read, write, speak multiple languages, learn philosophy...sometimes even studying art and music was mandatory.

if he was nobility (and its most likely he was), take all that shit and multiply it exponentially. Nandor would have been reading Plato at the same age most people are still potty training. he would have been specifically groomed in such a way to not be just a brilliant strategist and warrior, but also diplomate and ambassador of literally the center of scientific and cultural excellence of the age.

so like yeah, he can be a big dummy sometimes, sure. but that bitch is probably more educated than any of us will ever be.

as far as character arcs can be delineated in a style like the silm's -- and additionally because thingol just has more of a character arc than most -- i think denethor's death and the subsequent massacre to avenge him is a huge narrative beat in thingol's arc, and it's a shame it gets so little attention in fandom. also hmmmm the laegrim's answering battle with the dwarves of nogrod to avenge thingol after his death, much in the same way he once did denethor, comes off to me as something of closing the circle: taking vengeance for their kinsman as he did for them so long ago. it feels very fitting that thingol, who felt so strongly for his kin that he avenged them with fury and violence, has his own death avenged with fury and violence by the same kin

and by the way guillermo offering his hand to his boss to help him down the chair, him calling his boss master, him struggling with the morality of what the company is doing for profit… it doesnt really feel like much has changed in his life and the way he operates

and in the end him hanging out with his coworkers and doing stupid normal shit with them, him feeling validated and valued by his peers for once, or him climbing the corporate ladder, i think its all gonna feel a little bit pointless and a little too easy for him, and humans are ultimately gonna feel a little bit alien, people he cant really be himself with, not all of himself. i am truly hoping he ends up realising living a human life is not what he wants either, that hes not gonna be happy with that in the long run, and he figures out that hes only ever happy when hes around his whacky vampiric found family, and nandor specifically <3

Maybe… Nandor finds out in ep9… which prompts Guillermo to flee… which leads to all the vampires to spend all of ep10 looking for him… and to cover more ground they all split up… so we just have Nandor alone looking for Guillermo… Nandor who is upset and betrayed and hurt and sad… Nandor who when feeling all these things finally realizes exactly what he feels for Guillermo… Nandor who says a sentence that starts with “I wish” which prompts the djinn to show back up and remind him he has about 2 wishes left to be granted… Nandor who in his raw and emotional state makes a big wish that will affect Guillermo and his relationship with Guillermo in ways that we won’t even get to see until next year
