This is probably a weird question, but is the Nathaniel character you keep tagging as #nathanielcore a vampire and is he from a story involving another character named Quinn or Quentin? There's a story I remember seeing on Tumblr some months ago that I've been trying to find involving vampire characters with those names, and I saw your tags on a post about parasites from last month and was wondering if that was yours.

it's funny to talk about how nat loves killing people and doesn't care or have any hangups or remorse over it but the thing is he is killing people as a way to stop himself from harming the people he actually cares about - the ones he wants to kill so desperately but cant, the ones he wish he could tear apart piece by piece tasting every inch and still have them wake up the next morning unscathed. so he takes what he can and as much as he loves it he hates himself for it. he hates how good it feels. idk

thinking about those tags that i put on a post about building characters around what they’re afraid of and i thought i’d list what those fears are.

Nat: punishment and pain mostly. the dark too

Tony: humiliation and failure - looking foolish or incompetent or less than picture perfect in comparison to others

Lamarque: honesty and commitment, anything that he can’t just run away from

Octavian: death, insignificance, not getting to achieve his goals, time, decay, loss of the self

i think nat sort of represents the dichotomy between going against your nature for the sake of others in a way which is catastrophically damaging to you and giving in to your nature in a way that will inevitably harm others. i think it’s telling that his need to be himself and thus his need to harm others only becomes more extreme the more his nature is denied. i think i conceive of my every breath as violence. the way my mind works i’m always looking for something new about myself that is bad and evil and should be punished. jeez i wonder why i made him like that. i wonder why i care so much that he deserves to be loved anyway
