The end of an era.

Last week, the D type of the Chinook CH47 flew an last official flight for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The flight went to the training area on the Oirschotse heide, the GLV5, but also to its future owner, the National Military Museum, the NMM.

A representation of 298 Squadron took this opportunity to hand over a number of documents with information about this workhorse to Paul van Vlijmen, Director-NMM. The Chinook then left for the Logistiek Centrum Woensdrecht, where it will be prepared to be included in the collection of the NMM at the end of 2022 and exhibited to the public.

In 1910 werd in Soesterberg gebouwd aan een van de eerste vliegkampen (vliegvelden). Gebouw 45 was een observatiepost. Gedurende bijna een eeuw werden diverse aanpassingen gedaan, maar in 2003 is het teruggebracht in de originele staat. Nu heb je een mooi uitzicht over het terrein rond het @nationaal_militair_museum ————— Building 45 was part of one of The Netherlands first airfields. It was build as in observation deck in 1910. After almost a century many adaptions had been made, but when the @nationaal_militair_museum opened it was restored into its original form. NMM leukste uitje Utrecht

REGIO - Het Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM) in Soesterberg is door het Land van ANWB uitgeroepen tot het ‘Leukste uitje van Utrecht’. Directeur Hedwig Saam ontving gister de prijs uit handen van Frits van Bruggen, hoofddirecteur van de ANWB.

Het museum is ruim 3 maanden open en heeft inmiddels meer dan 200.000 bezoekers ontvangen. Het

Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM) is hét museum over de betekenis van de krijgsmacht voor Nederland in het heden, verleden en de toekomst. Het museum belicht deze betekenis aan de hand van verhalen, activiteiten en actuele exposities die je bijblijven.

Still to be seen outside on the tarmac for a few more days. A very nice summer initiative where the exceptional summer weather also helps to take beautiful photos. Next week, these museum aircraft will return to the depot of the National Military Museum in Soesterberg.

Because some relocations and maintenance were required in the depot of the National Military Museum(NMM), some beauties were outside. Great opportunity to see these beautiful planes in a completely different environment. On the tarmac where they should be.Nice initiative to repeat more often, we liked it!
