A bizarre deep-sea creature resembling a floating plastic bag with glowing Cheeto guts was spotted near Hawaii.
Researchers from Nautilus Live spotted the floating drifting creature with an ROV at a depth of 7,221 feet (2,201 m) in the Marine National Monument southeast of Honolulu. The bizarre animal is actually a sea cucumber in the family Elpidiidae that scavenges marine snow falling to the seafloor.

Since the last few days, i cannot and i mean i CANNOT stop laughing and crying at this. This is the always the 1st video i watch once i go to YouTube. I mean look at him look at those wide-ass googly eyes it's adorable. He looked like he had escaped death 10 fucking times that day and the scientists/marine biologists or smth just had to roast him for like 2 minutes 😭
I cant stop fucking giggling at this. I feel bad but i also wanna squeeze him so badly
Watching the nautilus live cam and the scientists are referring to taking samples as a "snip n' slurp" which is totally correct and precise way of describing how they collect samples it's just. Incredibly funny to hear them saying it. It's like a discord server in there.

Chambered Nautilus: The nautilus is an octopus’ cousin. It has more than 90 tentacles — the most of any cephalopod — which it uses to feel and grope along the reefs for food. Unlike those of other cephalopods, a nautilus’s tentacles have grooves and ridges instead of suckers. The nautilus is the only cephalopod with an external shell. Much like zebras, nautiluses can be individually identified based on their striped shell patterns.
This is Tera!
I featured her in an artwork AGES AGO and neglected making a proper ref until yesterday (whoops).
I don’t have too much to say about her character, she’s a bit of a menace that likes band shirts and taking cool photos. Despite having four arms, she has no shoulders so all her shirts are literally just tubes lmao
Traditional Nautilus culture puts HEAVY emphasis on maintaining one’s shell, polishing it and making sure it doesn’t scuff and all that. Residue-leaving Stickers and permanent engravings are a big taboo, you can bet Tera’s parents are mortified. Lmao krill issue, it’s just that shrimple.
