I just finished talking to a guy on FB, who feels the need to shit on every little article that covers Wheel of Time - be it in positive or negative light. His name is quite original, so it stood out amongst every other whiner, so I asked him why he feels the need to do it. I genuinely tried to understand it, and here are the takes:

He wants the show to be canceled

Show is a disgrace to Jordan's legacy

He is protecting said legacy

If Amazon drops WoT someone else will take it up, and give it justice

He pays for Amazon, so he's going to critique all them all he wants

And I just... The entitlement. The pure arrogance that is thinking they know what Jordan's legacy is, and how they go about protecting it. The idiotic notion that after seeing the toxic shitstorm that this fandom proved to be anyone will be willing to take WoT ever again...

All of it could be avoided, if he decided "ok, this is shit, I'm not going to spend even a second longer on it", and just moved on.

I'm in this fandom 20 years now. I joined it on Tumblr and FB as soon as I was able to (over 13-14 years here), and I thought this is a cool fandom, the unreasonably attractive one. But when the show started, I don't think in my long, looooong years in nerdzone I've seen any fandom be that toxic (well, ok, supernatural, but it's not MY fandom). It's sad, and awful.
