i dont ahve any evidence for this ive never read anything about it but does anyone else get the feeling that the sentiment "early humans have wiped out x y and z prehistoric animals we've been a Problem since the beginning" is a lil eco-fascist??

if we've been capable of hunting other animals to extinction since we evolved then how are we still here? if we continously kept driving animals extinct since we discovered fire wouldn't we have gone extinct as well?? i cant help but the extinction of animals such as mammoths and wooly rhinos is more climate change. maybe we had a hand in it to but i can't wrap my head round the idea that we are soley responsible for it

humans have been around for, in the eyes of a human at least, a kind of long time. we've at least had enough time on this earth to end it already but we didn't. we, and other animals are still here. isn't the holocene extinction more a product of colonialism and capitalism? the idea that we've been Extinction Bringers since our beginning seems a lot like a new version of the "HUMANS are the virus WE are destroying the earth" nonesense....

sometimes at the clinic we talk and stuff about the covids and the vaccine, but it is kinda a controversial take because outside break everyone is professional and in worksona, but inside break you can kinda derail and its chill to vent.

context background aside, a few people had to call out sick because they didn’t have the capacity to walk in and pull a full shift. The hours are intense and people are in and out to grab bites between patients. America yall.

But if they test positive for covid and have symptoms, techs cant come in. Makes sense. But a few had home tests and driveby tests, but had negatives, but still couldn’t come in due to the sicks.

The conclusion of my long and said tale. I mentioned how studies indicate erosion on the immune system from prolonged and persistent reinfection. And also how some people who had full blown covid (original? unspecified) had a reactivation of shingles - because zoster virus.

So that said about immunity, it isn’t impossible that these few individuals who have contracted random sick, did so to an alarming degree due to immunity erosion. Similarly to how measles can dump your immunity memory and make the next year a drastic inconvenience for anyone and any child who contracted measles.

But I don’t theorize that covid behaves, or that the typical immune system behaves the same way when it confronts a covid infection, as when the immune system may deal with measles. What the immune system in either case does is no way similar. But it could be the endothelial lining in the vascular system, or just in the epithelial tissue which is where rhino viruses and bacterial infections would concentrate, is eroded from the covid virus post recovery.

In the medical community - I have to research this more later since I haven’t really touched on it in a while - it is noted that there is immunity naivety, and the inability of the immune system to address covid in a safe method early on - before the virus embeds deeper into endothelial or epithelial tissues. The deeper the virus embeds itself, the farther it spreads in the surface area of tissue, the longer recovery, and the higher risks of a recovery from mundane infections from unrelated pathogens.

I attribute it to the abrasion the virus (covid 19) leaves in the vascular tissue. The deeper and longer the cut, the higher likely of a complication through infection from bacteria. This is especially so for those with complications such as diabetes or other ailments which compromise healing and recovery. Understandably, the body has a much more difficult time recovering from covid 19 than Omicron variants, but all the same scoring does occur in both situations. Those who recover from Omicron may be at higher risk of infection from the aforementioned pathogens - fungi, bacterial, viral.

Naturally, the “we’re all gonna get it and get over it” crowd, failed basic microbiology. Did, in fact, never build a her immunity or sterilization, but primed a diverse demographic as the most fundamental (not most efficient) plague bearers.

And I guess if another country hated us a whole lot (vladmir putin), you couldn’t make a more convoluted way to spread and super spreader. And it is usually through facebook that ‘parents’ encourage covid parties.

How Martin reacts to seeing Chris like this (birdbrain)

Oooooo, now this is a fun question >:]

Let's see, his brother disappears for a bit, no signal from his creature pod, but it's only been a few hours so if he's in trouble it can't be that bad, right? But then Martin finds Chris, perched on a branch in a harpy eagle power suit, so all must be good now, right?

But Chris isn't responding to his name. Isn't really giving any indication of hearing it beyond a single glance Martin's way. Flies off when Martin climbs up into the tree to grab him. Doesn't say a single word the entire time.

Chris, Martin realizes, isn't acting like Chris. And the longer he chases after him—the longer Martin spends losing Chris in the trees, tracking him down again, only for Chris to shriek and fly off and the cycle to repeat—the more it starts to settle in that something is very wrong.

And then Martin sees the button on Chris' chest, smashed and glinting with tiny sparks every so often. Fumbles with his creature pod to call Aviva and let her know there's been a serious malfunction while Chris flies off again.

Some fruitless searching later, Aviva on her way with her own CPS and the MIK, Martin runs into Zach.

Who very nearly does to Martin what has been done to Chris, and is only stopped because he spent so long gloating about his brand new malware and how effectively it took Chris out of the game—Zach gloats long enough for Aviva to show up and free Martin, allowing them to end Zach's little plot and send him flying off in his jet, screaming about how even if he lost he has the solution to the virus and "YOU'RE NOT GETTING IT, WILD RAT! ENJOY YOUR BIRDIE BRAINED BROTHER!"

So how's Martin feeling about all this? Definitely angry at Zach, and a little angry at himself for letting Chris investigate things on his own—it's almost like the rhinos and Toodles all over again.

But most of all? Martin is determined. His brother is Not Okay, and Martin is going to find him and catch him and get him to Aviva so she can fix things. He's already broken Zach's nose for his crimes—now it's time to focus on helping Chris, however he can.

So yeah. Martin's a lil stressed.

yesterday during the 6pm news report on Belgian public radio they talked about the dire covid situation in Irish schools

they interviewed a local who essentially said: “the few kids who are attending school (as opposed to self-isolating) are freezing to death because we’re having to keep windows opened”

then this person added: “kids may not catch covid but they sure will catch a cold!”

not only did the radio people not question that claim but they repeated it as fact

so I proceeded to gracefully lose my mind because the common cold is also known as rhino-fucking-virus and it spreads in wintertime for the same reason this corona-fucking-virus does: staying indoors, no ventilation, airborne transmission

now I’m not saying that sitting in a cold classroom for hours learning useless things has zero impact on the physical and mental health of our youths

but surely that January fresh air ventilates the floating clouds of both rhino and coronavirus?

The character has appeared in several Spider-Man media adaptations over the years, including animated television series and video games. Dimitri Smerdyakov appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), portrayed by Numan Acar. IGN ranked the Chameleon as Spider-Man's 14th greatest enemy.[2]

Fictional character biographyEdit

Dmitri Smerdyakov was born in Soviet Russia. In his youth, he became a servant and half-brother to Sergei Kravinoff, and later a minor associate of Gustav Fiers. Although Dmitri and Sergei were friends, Sergei was often abusive to Smerdyakov, leading to a combination of admiration and resentment towards Kravinoff. Eventually, Smerdyakov emigrated to the United States of America. As he had made a talent for himself during his youth by impressing his brother by impersonating friends and neighbors, he assumed an even more impressive disguise: the identity of Chameleon. During his first known criminal outing, he impersonated Spider-Man, though he was soon exposed and arrested. Shortly afterward, Sergei (now known as "Kraven the Hunter") came to America, and the Chameleon set his old associate's sights on Spider-Man.[10] Both men became long-time enemies of Spider-Man, part of his primary rogues' gallery.

The Chameleon inspired Kraven to begin hunting Spider-Man, inviting Kraven to dispose of the hero.[11] With Kraven, the Chameleon battled Iron Man,[12] and then confronted the Hulk.[13] At one point, the Chameleon disguised himself as Hank Pym, and robbed Pym's laboratory for documents to combat Virus Nine. While delivering the documents and a shrunken Hulk to HYDRA, he was encountered and defeated by Ant-Man.[14] The Chameleon disguised himself as the Torpedo and battled Daredevil.[15]

When his half-brother committed suicide,[16] the Chameleon became obsessed with making Spider-Man suffer for his failure to prevent this. He ingested a serum which made his face permanently featureless and malleable. He attempted to kidnap America's leading expert on superconductors, but was thwarted by Spider-Man.[17] He then kidnapped J. Jonah Jameson. He approached the Maggia for support to be New York's new crime lord, and formed an alliance with Hammerhead.[18] Disguised as a scientist, the Chameleon temporarily removed Spider-Man's powers. He allied himself with the Femme Fatales, the Scorpion, and the Tarantula to eliminate Spider-Man and the Black Cat, but escaped when his plan failed.[19]

The Chameleon's most ambitious play against Spider-Man happened when he formed an alliance with Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin. Before Harry's death, the Chameleon was told Spider-Man's secret identity could be found through Peter Parker, to construct androids of Peter's parents; the Chameleon later admitted that he went through with the plot to confirm once and for all that Peter was Spider-Man. The plan led to a psychotic breakdown for both Spider-Man and the Chameleon, Spider-Man briefly renouncing the civilian identity while the Chameleon is sent to Ravencroft Asylum.[volume & issue needed] But when Doctor Ashley Kafka sneaks him into a basement to try to continue treating him in the belief that he was close to a breakthrough when the court were preparing to put him on trial, the Chameleon escaped and attempted to convince Spider-Man of actually a hallucinating writer who had suffered a mental breakdown after his daughter's death in a car accident but Peter managed to break through this deception due to his own strength of will.[20] The Chameleon's confirmation of Spider-Man's secret identity led him to try to attack Spider-Man through family and friends but this effort met with rather dismal results when Mary Jane Watson subdued him with a baseball bat.[21] Somewhere in between this and subsequent appearances, he appeared to have been destroyed by his nephew Alyosha Kravinoff; Alyosha later threw a Chameleon mask at Spider-Man's feet, referring to it as 'That weakling Dmitri' but apparently recovered, waking in a hospital.[volume & issue needed]

After tricking Spider-Man to the bridge where Gwen Stacy's death occurred, on the pretext of having kidnapped Mary Jane, he declared his own loneliness and love for Peter. When Peter laughed, he threw himself off the bridge.[22] He reappeared some time later in a mental institution, completely incapacitated, believing himself to be Sergei Kravinoff rather than his true self.[volume & issue needed] He later reappeared in his Chameleon identity as part of the Sinister Twelve villain team organized by Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin.[23]

After Spider-Man was unmasked, the Chameleon gathered a gang of villains called the Exterminators,[1] including Will O' The Wisp, Scarecrow, Swarm and Electro, and also blackmailed the Molten Man into his employ all in an effort to defeat Spider-Man and attack the web-slinger's family.[volume & issue needed]

However, the Chameleon was dealt a most humiliating defeat by May Parker's hands, when he attempted to trick May into believing he was Peter, then murder May. But May was not fooled by any means, and defeated the villain with a plate of oatmeal-raisin cookies laced with Ambien. The Rhino was also employed as part of the team up and later defeated Spider-Man only to be unable to collect payment from the Chameleon as he was already captured.[24]

After the "Civil War", the Chameleon showed up among the villains at Stilt-Man's funeral at the Bar with No Name where the Punisher poisoned the drinks and blew up the bar.[25]

The Chameleon next appeared in the newest incarnation of Super Villain Team-Up called MODOK's Eleven. In this limited series, it is revealed that he contacted A.I.M. the moment he was telepathically summoned by MODOK. He then allowed A.I.M. to send in their newest creation, the Ultra-Adaptoid, under the guise of the Chameleon.[volume & issue needed] Additionally, it was revealed in Super Villain Team-Up: MODOK's Eleven that his apparent insanity and demise years earlier were in fact well-crafted ruses designed so that he could fade into the background once more.[volume & issue needed]

The "One More Day" storyline ended with the removal of Peter and Mary Jane's timeline from all memories and no one knows Spider-Man's identity, including the Chameleon.[26]

The Chameleon returns to New York more sadistic and sociopathic than ever before. To complete his hired goal of bombing City Hall, he kidnaps Peter who works for Mayor J. Jonah Jameson. While posing as Parker, he tries to better his life, revealing that he always tries to rectify the problems in the lives of his "faces".[27] Using Peter's security clearance to get access to various materials, the Chameleon was poised to bomb City Hall before Peter escaped and thwarted his plans as Spider-Man. During the resulting confusion, the Chameleon escaped.[28]

Sometime later at an alley building during "The Gauntlet and Grim Hunt" storyline, the distraught Chameleon is met by Sasha Kravinoff and Ana Kravinoff who want his help in avenging Sergei's death.[29] Various follow up issues during The Gauntlet storyline show the Chameleon helping the Kravinoff family into creating an alliance of Spider-Man's enemies as well as Diablo.[30] First, he and Sasha managed to spring Electro from prison.[31] Then Chameleon approached Mysterio stating that he has friends that are "dying" to meet him.[32] When it came to the Grim Hunt part, he posed as Ezekiel in order to get close to Spider-Man to defeat and bring to the Kravinoffs in order to sacrifice as part of a ritual that will revive Sergei.[33] After Sergei is resurrected, the Chameleon states that the problem might stem from inward anger of being resurrected. He and the Kravinoffs discover Spider-Man's corpse, which turns out to be Kaine in Spider-Man's costume instead.[34] The real Spider-Man goes to take revenge on the Kravenoff family. Spider-Man soon arrives and pulled the Chameleon and Alyosha into the huge nest of spiders. Sasha realizes that the Kravinoff family wasn't hunting the spiders, but it was the spiders hunting them.[35]

During the "Origin of the Species" storyline, the Chameleon is invited by Doctor Octopus to join his supervillain team where he gets involved in securing some specific items for Doctor Octopus. He poses as Harry Osborn to trick Spider-Man by telling him that Menace's infant has died. When Spider-Man has been away, the Chameleon got the infant.[36] Doctor Octopus later talks with the Chameleon saying that the baby is the first of a new species. Using a lead gained when he took down Shocker, Spider-Man arrives at the Kravinoff Mansion where he captures the Chameleon who reveals that the baby is still alive and is in the Lizard's clutches.[37]

The Chameleon later becomes a member of Doctor Octopus's latest incarnation of the Sinister Six. He poses as Captain Steve Rogers in order to infiltrate an Air Force base.[38] The Chameleon disguises himself as a tribal chief when he and Mysterio pull off a zombie pirate attack on some natives.[39] Using robots of the other Sinister Six members, Chameleon and Mysterio pulled off this scheme as a diversion so that Doctor Octopus and the other Sinister Six members can infiltrate the Baxter Building to look for specific technology plans while the Future Foundation were investigating the more obvious threat.[40]

The Chameleon later poses as Klaw in order to infiltrate Intelligencia so that he can help the Sinister Six steal their Zero Cannon.[41]

During the "Ends of the Earth" storyline, the Chameleon was present with the Sinister Six when Doctor Octopus tells them about a master plan.[42] The Chameleon was present at Palazzo Senatorio at a summit where the world's greatest minds and the world leaders is carried out to discuss about Doctor Octopus's supposed offer to save the world with the Chameleon disguised as Al Gore. As Al Gore, the Chameleon states that Doctor Octopus would save them. Without a counter-argument, Spider-Man punches Al Gore and reveals to everyone present that Al Gore is actually the Chameleon in disguise. Spider-Man's new costume could detect which person is actually the Chameleon based on heartbeats. A transmission from Doctor Octopus states activating the Octavian Lens which are blocking the harmful UV rays from the sun in order to reinforce this offer. After letting the Chameleon go, Spider-Man secretly places a Spider-Tracer on the Chameleon so that the Avengers could follow him. They follow the Chameleon to the Mediterranean Coasts where the Sinister Six is waiting for the Chameleon. Using many of the stolen objects, the Sinister Six successfully subdue the Avengers leaving only Spider-Man standing.[43] After Spider-Man and the Black Widow escape with Silver Sable's help, the Chameleon suggest that since the Sinister Six's remaining members had each received their $2 billion and their criminal records expunged, they should just leave Doctor Octopus and his scheme. But they stay on board as that would make an enemy out of Doctor Octopus. The Chameleon later gets involved with Mysterio in tricking Spider-Man's allies into thinking they were destroying Symkaria, in order to give Doctor Octopus more time to complete the 200 satellites. However, the Chameleon is captured and the Black Widow threatens to reveal the secret behind his real face.[44]

Following the "Dying Wish" storyline, the Chameleon later fights Superior Spider-Man (Otto Octavius's mind in Spider-Man's body) and the Secret Avengers on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.[45] The Chameleon ends up knocked unconscious and the Superior Spider-Man transports him to his hidden underwater lab where he ends up imprisoned.[46] The Chameleon, Electro, Sandman, Mysterion, and the Vulture are later seen as part of the "Superior Six" team. The Superior Spider-Man has been temporarily controlling their minds in order to redeem them for their crimes, doing this by forcing them do heroic deeds against their will which almost get some of them killed. Every time they are done being controlled, they are put back in their containment cells.[47] They eventually break free of the Superior Spider-Man's control and attempt to exact revenge, while nearly destroying New York in order to do so.[48] With Sun Girl's help, the Superior Spider-Man is barely able to stop the Superior Six.[49]

Following the true Spider-Man's return, the Chameleon attempts to drive Spider-Man insane as revenge for the Superior Spider-Man's earlier treatment of him. However, Deadpool switches costumes with Spider-Man, with the Chameleon unaware of this. He fails at driving Deadpool insane (as Deadpool is already insane), and ends up being shot in the leg by him. Both heroes (in each other's costumes) punch the Chameleon at the same time, knocking him out and later delivered him to the authorities.[50]

At the conclusion of the "Hunted" storyline, the Chameleon is revealed to be one of the attendees at Sergei's funeral as he is pleased that Sergei spared him from the Great Hunt. As he walks away, the Chameleon quotes to his dead stepbrother to sleep well and states "You needn't worry. The world is no longer your burden. Besides, there won't be much of it left soon...Not by the time I've finished."[51

Migrants wanting to enter the U.S. through the southern border is nothing new and is a problem that different presidential administrations have struggled to address. No matter what you think the solution is there is an opposing side waiting to tell you how wrong you actually are. Maintaining the reputation the United States has proclaimed for itself over time can become quite difficult as times and technology changes. Making your way across several continents or oceans is much easier than it was when America was still becoming an established nation. Media plays a hand in how the Border Crisis is viewed as well, as our media has transformed in the recent years to be more accessible, informative, but sometimes biased. This can create confusion to normal Americans wanting to know what’s actually going on at their nation’s border. Under former President Donald Trump, his strong stance against illegal migrants entering our country from the southern border and attempting to stop them by implementing a border wall was viewed as unethical, and not the American Way. Now as we have shifted to an administration that is quite opposite of (Trump) under President Joe Biden, migrants seeking to come in through the southern border are reportedly showing up in droves as President Biden has already reversed many of the immigration policies Trump implemented to slow it down.

The two past presidential administrations are not to blame for the crisis at hand, and how it’s developed over time. Although during both of Trump and Biden’s administration we have seen tremendous surges in migrants at the border. Many of the recent effects can be attributed to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and how it has drastically effected the globe. Countries that aren’t as established and cannot support the citizens of their country to combat the virus the way they should, results in them looking to reside elsewhere, often the United States. Due to how established the United States has become, our nation is the top spot chosen when looking to leave their current country (because the living conditions do not suit them).  Although going back and fourth between two opposite political agendas will always effect the situation and not always in a good way. Perhaps deciding on one single stance is the way to go and to never waver away from the decision you make. This would likely be impossible under the democracy our nation created for itself, causing havoc among the citizens who think the situation at hand should be treated differently. 

Republican Senators such as Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Marco Rubio (Florida), Ted Cruz (Texas), and even Republican (Rhino) Mitt Romney (Utah) all criticize the new Presidential Administration for reversing the many illegal migrant restrictions that former President Donald Trump put into place. These were important to the previous administration (Trump) as they campaigned on these promises and delivered on many of them. The Governors listed above were extremely displeased with the “Stay in Mexico” law, that Biden changed on one of the first days as President. Changing this law alone as led to the increase in illegal immigrants that have entered the U.S. since the administration had changed in January. However the Republican Senators criticism of President Biden’s policies, have no explanation for the rise in late 2019 and early 2020 when still under President Trump. That rise did also take place at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and could be a reason why they fled the border under the strict policies of Trump. During no other time in Trump’s presidency did we see a rise in migrants at the southern border, besides when Covid became a factor.

At the end of the day there is no right or wrong solution to handling incoming migrants at the border. It’s very difficult to grant somebody U.S. citizenship while turning the next away for no particular reason at all. The America of today is much different than the America of the past two centuries. We as a nation used to welcome migrants and persuade them to make the voyage to our country for religious freedom, an endless number of job opportunities, and political persecution that they were facing in the country they fled from. After growing to become one of the most established nations in the world, there is a new decision to be made. Take better care of the citizens you already have and offer the ones that need it, help. Or look to offer your assistance to those of other countries, seeking a better life that is likely only obtainable through U.S. citizenship. Lots of people feel differently, which is why it’s always a trending topic and the stance a particular person has on this matter will be extremely important.

The sixth mass extinction is here, and it's speeding up.

A new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Monday, found that 515 land animals are currently on the brink of extinction. That's slightly less than the at least 543 species that disappeared last century. However, these extremely endangered species are expected to disappear in the next two decades, Stanford University explained in a press release.

"When humanity exterminates populations and species of other creatures, it is sawing off the limb on which it is sitting, destroying working parts of our own life-support system," study coauthor and Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich said in the press release. "The conservation of endangered species should be elevated to a national and global emergency for governments and institutions, equal to climate disruption to which it is linked."

Ehrlich helped to write a 2015 study confirming that a sixth mass extinction had begun, and he now says the extinction rate is likely higher than previously thought. Species are going extinct at rates hundreds or thousands of times faster than the "background" rate for the last tens of millions of years, and are being killed off by one overriding factor: us. Several specific human actions are behind these losses, including habitat loss, hunting, the introduction of invasive species, pollution, the wildlife trade and the climate crisis.

To draw their conclusions, the researchers looked at data on 29,400 land vertebrate species compiled by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and BirdLife International, The Guardian explained. Of those species, 515 had populations of fewer than 1,000, and about half of the 515 were down to less than 250 individuals.

Most of the at-risk species live in the tropics or subtropics. They include the Sumatran rhino, the Clarión wren, the Española giant tortoise and the harlequin frog.

Fic Digest Number 5!

Hi everyone. This has been a pretty hard week. There is rioting, brutality, and corona-virus. A friend of mine who lives in another country told me it looks like were having a revolution over here. I can see that. These times, are so hard. So today, I still ask, how are you doing out there? Because I care about all of you.  

I can’t back looting and setting buildings on fire. But I will always stand with those of you standing responsibly and peacefully for your rights, loved ones, and beliefs.  Please stay safe as you can out there.

So hold tight, because we are still all in this together. There is light at the end of this tunnel. 

I am at a little over ten weeks of staying at home now, and I have to tell you, its been quite an experience. I think that goes for us all. This week, my garden is starting to come in! I did something different with it this year and dug trenches for water and I think it’s helped a lot. I already have baby pumpkins which will be pies and jack-o-lanterns this fall! And this year, I also might end up with watermelons! This will be a first. 

I have also been working hard at something behind the scenes for you. I am making you books. If you liked Wild Earth, All Blood is Red, Lullaby of the Giant Five and Playing With Fire, I hope you might like them too. They are about women loving women. The first is Zenith, two queens, one destiny, one world. 

But as it is, it seems these final steps are taking more than I thought. But...I am so excited. Soon, my friends, soon...a image is going to pop up on this page of my girls for all of you. And a website, too!

My mom hates me talking about covid. Because I do all those projection report and analysis studies regarding medical information published through the National Library of Medicine link.

The info is all there, but I use this in my field of studies. The home page is harder to navigate through, due to the portals going into other case studies unrelated to my topics.

But she hates it when I tell her about all this study work and projections, because she’ll come off the news sometime later and have to tell me I’ve been accurate and she hates that.

This is all a situation of, “Please Don’t.”

Doctors are discussing more and more about this degenerative disorder akin to dementia, though in the case of covid survivors, it is found that these individuals may have more severe neurological damage source. The loss of senses such as smell and taste can be a precursor to these symptoms - and while a rhino virus can cause dysfunction temporarily in scent and taste, SaRs covid has a more pronounced pattern of ‘attack’. And as I have said prior about covid and its capacities, there is really no limitation to where it can nest itself. It can infiltrate nerve tissue in the brain and spinal column, though the method and extent is unknown at this time.

At this time deeper studies into the virus are difficult, because many of those who have been afflicted by covid, are in some form of recovery - if not physical rehabilitation. Their bodies are stressed anough, and the studies to be done - aspiration and biopsies of bone marrow, are not 100% for healthy candidates. The studies likewise take so much time, and the doctor who are working with the ill or dying have limited time to divert.

Even Omicron is observed carefully, and regarded as a high threat. It is not limited to respiratory infection, if it comes from the same SaRs strain. You need to keep you and your loved ones safe, wear your mask, and if eligible, get vaccinated.

The vaccine will always be the last line of defense from this pathogen. It will never be a magic bullet.

Death of a World

Callidia was a world of the Ecclesiarchy, an entire world dedicated to the worship of the God-Emperor and veneration of his Saints. At this time of year all were preparing for the annual Festival of Saint Callidia. The patron Saint of the world, the one hundred days of festivities and celebration mirrored the one hundred days in which the saint interrogated the xenos worshipping witch who came to corrupt loyal imperial hearts. Even to this day the remnants of the witches robes were on display beneath a glass case alongside the reliquary bones of Callidia. The festival would culminate in the ritual burning of effigies, symbolizing the witch being burned at the stake for her crimes. The Arch-Cardinal himself would preside over the ceremonies for the next hundred days. As a worldwide broadcast of the Cardinal’s opening sermon was interrupted by the darkening of the skies, awe turned to horror as they realized this darkness was man made. A massive fleet had entered orbit over the capital city, one comprised of countless variations of vessels both Imperial and xenos. The Arch-Cardinal’s broadcast fizzled and stuttered our, replaced by a new one. A feminine voice issued from every speaker on the world, one so laced with anger and venom that it froze the blood in the listeners veins. “You celebrate the torture of an innocent woman, memorialize her death, venerate her murderer. My sister came here seeking peace and sanctuary and you gifted her only with pain and blood. This gift I return to you now. Revel in it savages and know that I will feed every one of your miserable souls to the lowest of my servants!” The broadcast died and the sky began to burn.

Talorax watched, amused slightly as the panicked masses rushed towards his defenses. The Iron Warrior had been meticulous, encircling the city in tight cordon of hastily dug trenches and weapon emplacements. Artillery opened up with booming thunder over the chatter of gunfire. Explosions ripped gaping holes in the mob even as they were torn apart by the massed fire. Icarus impaled a screaming priest upon his blade, the power field charting flesh and bone. The man had a moment to scream before the weapon ripped up and out through his torso. Around him the forces of the goddess fought with the zeal of fanatics. To his right a warrior seized scrambling man and swung him bodily into a marble column till he burst like a forest piñata. To his left a tattoo covered cultist fell upon a scrambling pilgrim, dagger slashing and stabbing with a fury worthy of a khornate worshipper. One woman clad in the vestments of the clergy bravely rushed them with a candelabra only to be mobbed down and shredded by a chittering swarm of imps. Astartes, mortals, and daemon alike fought side by side with the wrath of their goddess fueling their limbs. This world would die, it had been commanded.

Drogan roared as he killed, daemonic strength pulsing within his flesh. His bone blades flashed out, punching through the vulnerable throat armor of a Celestian. The battle sister gurgled blood and clawed uselessly at him before he discarded her upon the floor. He heard a feral howl and saw a blur of storm gray rush past him, Hirvik leaping into the fray with chainsword screaming. Furio was not far behind, draped in newly acquired skins still bleeding, a ghastly resemblance to his long deceased gene-father. Only the maddest and most fanatical followed them, wielding archaic or warp forged weapons of terrible power. Astartes roaring battle hymns as they cut through Sororitas ranks, masses of crazed and mutated cultists going laughing to their deaths and pulling down sisters through sheer numbers, summoned daemons running amok. And through the center of it all strode the goddess in her war form. Fuuko was clad in sinuous armor of ebony and crimson, patting only for the eternally open eyes upon her chest and the fanged maw of her abdomen. Batlike wings folded tightly into her body as horns rose from her flowing mane of jet black hair. She moved with unhurried grace, an eye of calm amidst the madness, yet her very presence shook the material realm with barely restrained power. One sister broke through and rushed the goddess with a blade raised high, screaming praise to her Corpse-God. Her blow never made it as silvery steel intercepted and turned it aside. Vico was the greatest swordsman of the Vaults, unmatched and undefeated. With disarming ease his sword flickered our and took the martyr’s head clean off. None would ever get past his blade to reach his sovereign.

The Celestian Sisters fought with courage and righteous fury but it availed them none. The last one died still cursing them as Vico’s fangs tore out her throat. With the defenders slain it was only a few moments before two mortals dragged the crimson swathed obesity that was Arch-Cardinal Julianus. The man was dumped into a cowering, sobbing heap before Fuuko’s feet. There was only cold disdain in the goddess eyes. “I wonder if my sister begged the way you pitiful mortal did. Did she scream? Did she cry out for mercy? Would your kind even have listened. Scream for your Emperor little priest, scream like all the victims of your precious church.” The maw opened wide, slavering fangs stretching out in endless hunger. Julianus stared into the madness of oblivion and he screamed as it closed in on him.

For one hundred days a world burned. Their cities were reduced to rubble, their holy sites ruined and the earth salted. Pilgrims and clergy alike were hunted and slaughtered in an orgy of death and blood, none allowed to survive. When her earth was finally spent the forces of the Vault returned to orbit and virus bombed the world to barren rock. When the Imperial fleet did finally arrive all they would find was a planet-sized tombstone, a monument to the wrath of the divine.

SARS-CoV-2 virus

SARS-CoV-2 is dus het virus. Ook bekend als het Novel (nieuwe) Corona virus, het Wuhan virus, het Chinese Corona virus en in de volksmond en media bekend als 'het Corona virus'.

Dit virus is voor het eerst in 2019 aangetroffen in het Chinese Wuhan, een miljoenenstad in China. Deze variant van het coronavirus was nog niet bekend. Het virus is vermoedelijk afkomstig van de Hoefijzer vleermuis. Over hoe het precies op de mens is overgedragen is veel onduidelijk. Er wordt gedacht aan een vismarkt in Wuhan waar levende dieren zouden worden verhandeld. Maar een andere theorie is dat het zou zijn ontsnapt uit een virologisch lab, met name het virologisch lab dat op nog geen 300m van de betreffende vismarkt staat. Het virus geeft een infectie die erg lijkt op verkoudheid of griep. Deze ziekte heet COVID-19

Momenteel is het virus vooral actief in Azië, Europa en Amerika.

COVID-19

COVID-19 is de ziekte (en niet het virus) dat kan ontstaan door besmetting met het SARS CoV-2 Corona virus. Ongeveer de helft van de mensen die besmet raakt met het virus wordt ziek.

COVID-19 staat voor: COrona VIrus Disease (ziekte) 2019 (het jaartal van ontdekking. De ziekte is voor het eerst waargenomen in miljoenenstad Wuhan in de Chinese provincie Hubei. De ziekte verspreidde zich vervolgens naar andere delen van de wereld.

Overdracht is vooral via het inademen van besmette druppels die vrijkomen via niezen en hoesten. Als iemand hoeft of niest kunnen deze druppels tot wel 1,5m ver komen. Symptomen kunnen zeer uiteen lopen maar kunnen bestaan uit: hoesten, kortademigheid, vermoeidheid en koorts. Sommige mensen hebben helemaal geen symptomen, anderen hebben milde symptomen vergelijkbaar met een verkoudheid, of als het wat zwaarder is een griepje. Bij ruim 80% van de mensen die ziek worden blijft het bij zeer milde klachten. Diverse bekende sporters waren na 3 dagen weer helemaal beter en fit.

De ziekte kan bij personen met een verzwakte immuunsysteem (bijvoorbeeld ouderen of mensen die al veel mankeren) een longontsteking  veroorzaken. Deze longontsteking kan bij deze kwetsbare mensen soms dodelijk aflopen.

Ongeveer de helft van de mensen die besmet raakt wordt echter helemaal niet ziek. En van de helft die wel ziek wordt krijgt 80% een zeer mild ziekteverloop vergelijkbaar met een verkoudheid.
