is this a hot take? the ATLA fandom hyper focuses on zuko and his potential love interests so much that it discredits his character development, his journey of realizing his destiny, his struggles with his mental health and his struggles with non romantic relationships.

i understand he's a fan favorite, and as someone who was a little kid when the show came out i had such a crush on him. i love zuko as much as the next gal but i don't see him for this edgy emo boy with pretty hair and a sick scar appeal. he's an extremely traumatized and mentally unwell child. he's a physically and emotionally wounded person who's made a lot of mistakes while trying to do the right thing, and unlearning everything he's ever known so he can change.

resorting zuko to just being this heartthrob is really dehumanizing. the relationships that are so much more important than any ship are his relationships with his family, his relationship with aang and his relationship with himself. he is farrr too romanticized and glorified by the fandom. the favoritism towards him actually tarnishes all of his progress rather than highlighting it.

I would like to experience the story and fight with Jason XD, but can I do it as a single person or is the story going to 'force' everyone, at some point, to choose someone as a partner? Hello ! This was not asked so far no worries :) To answer, I think we should check what an otome is (supposed to be)

"Generally one of the goals, besides the main story goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the (female) main player character and one of the usually male, secondary lead characters." (wikipedia)

Otome and romances (with a plot) is what I like and enjoy doing. Regarding feedbacks from these last years, I refocused even more on the relationship aspect with the Lis for NewGen. So you can't do the story without being in a flirt/romance with one of the Lis at some point :) I'm sure whoever is stucks with you will be happy to be so, and I hope you'll enjoy the game too nonetheless ^^

this line is so. ough. it shows how marvin tries to hold on to his life through his family, but at that point it's all a game (like the theme of games throughout the song [canasta yada yada]), and theyre just faking it till they make it

his attempts to bond with certain parts of his life leave him lacking in other parts (his relationship with whizzer)

and specifically the use of /family/ charades, his familial life is all as he tries to make people see when its just as messy and complicated as it is in his head. family charades are also usually just a kiddish game, showing his actions + attempts are messy and childlike to pull himself together
