I'll be hosting a panel on experimenting with transformative webcomics with @spicyyeti and @maxbanshees as a part of the Cartoonist Cooperative's Nib & Ink Fest on May 17th at 6pm EST!

"Three creators talk about their experiences with transitioning their experimental fancomics into original work. Spicyyeti will be telling you why every artist should just start publishing their comics on their own websites, and going through his process for more experimental webcomics between both fan (Jade Route, Y12k) and original (Godhead) projects. Max Banshees will be focusing on zines and cyanotypes, discussing the challenges and influences of collaborating with other fanartists across country lines. Alexis Rippen (thats me!) will be talking up self publishing and self education: the world is at your fingertips and you can write and print and distribute whatever you want."

The presentation itself will be pre-recorded ahead of time so we'll all be answering questions in the Zoom chat during the panel.

The organising team at the US-based but international Cartoonist Cooperative have put together Nib & Ink Fest, an online comics fest offering a whole host of panels, workshops, and portfolio reviews, with multiple events every Saturday and Sunday this month

My submission to the Oops All Comics! zine that was for sale during the Cartoonist Co-op's Nib & Ink Fest. All proceeds from the zine went towards funding the co-op, which is a fantastic resource that all cartoonists should check out.

im a little disappointed the nib and ink fest comics r only digital bcuz i dont like buying comics or books digitally personally but i also understand why theyre not in print lol

Inktober Day 9 - DEARTH NADIR! "Dearth" menaing "Lack of", and "Nadir", meaning "Lowest Point". INSPIRED. . . Man, that episode in season 4 of The Muppet Show was a cringer, but the fact that it even exists brings me so much joy. On the positive side - it gave us Angus MacGonagle the Argyle Gargling Gargoyle, so there's that. . . This drawing was a perfect storm of scary - combine all my concerns about dark colors and bad reference and crank it up to eleven. So here we are! I took refrence from screencaps, toys, and Vader himself to get everything I needed to realize this one. . . Oh, MUPPETS HAUNTED MANSION - a mixed bag for me. Lots of laughs and some fun easter eggs for the long-time fans, but it was way too "digital" for my liking. I always really appreciated Henson's work with practical and optical effects, so to sit through all the digital wizardry was a little bit of a snooze-fest. I liked watching scenes in the past that sent my head spinning wondering "HOW DID THEY DO THAT?", but now there's no question - with a computer. So a lot of the magic is gone - but I'm happy that Disney is still giving the Muppets their due. . . 7.5 x 11”, @drphmartins Black Star and Pen White ink on @strathmoreart 400-series watercolor paper, @speedball_art Hunt 107 nib, Hunt 56 "School" nib and @pentelofamerica Color Brush, 65 minutes. . .
