BINGE has today confirmed that season 2 of award-winning Australian original drama series, LOVE ME, will premiere April 6 with all six-episodes dropping at once.

Season 2 of Love Me picks up the story of The Mathieson family nine months after we left off and sees the family navigate the complexities of relationships when new love becomes a long-term proposition

The series, which was the most nominated drama at the 2022 Logie Awards, sees the return of all the main cast, with several new characters emerging for Season 2.

With its exploration of modern love by different family members at three distinct times of life, Season 2 picks up the story of The Mathiesons family, with Hugo Weaving returning as Glenn, the father experiencing new love in his 60s; Bojana Novakovic, the highly successful, yet complicated Clara; and William Lodder, as Aaron, facing the complexities of love, and new responsibility.

They are joined again by Silver Logie award-winning Heather Mitchell as Anita; Bob Morley as Peter;  Celia Pacquola as Sacha; Shalom Brune-Franklin as Ella; and Mitzi Ruhlmann as Jesse. 

Bonnie has worked with renowned Directors including Garth Davis on the award-winning feature film, Lion, Mary Magdalene and FOE and Glendyn Ivin on the critically acclaimed The Cry and Penguin Bloom. Bonnie’s short films include, We’re Not Here, which was executive produced by John Logan (Skyfall, Gladiator) and premiered at MIFF and Not Dark Yet featuring Richard Moir and Nick Denton.

Wearing a blue America First cap, 19-year-old Max White stood among a dozen protesters, softly mouthing the Hail Mary prayers over and over: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.” 

Around White flew the flags of right-wing extremist groups, including the American Nationalist Initiative and the New Columbia Movement, carried by men who looked to be in their 20s, strapped with rosaries or assault rifles or both. On a cloudless January day in Dallas, they faced off against a group of nearly 100 community members who showed up to support the drag show performance that White and his peers were protesting. 

“I started going to these events last year, starting with the Pride event in Oak Lawn. … I was like, ‘If these people are going to go and protest this kind of stuff, just perverse sexual stuff for kids, I’m going,’” he said. 

Since he was 16, White has been following young white-supremacist agitator Nick Fuentes and groups like Protect Texas Kids, which has been targeting drag shows in North Texas, including the one that day in Dallas. The organization was founded and is directed by recent college graduate Kelly Neidert, who achieved notoriety by calling for transgender people to be criminalized and Pride event participants to be “rounded up” while she was the chapter chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) at the University of North Texas in Denton. Now she is using the activism skills she learned from YCT to lead other young conservatives like White, a freshman political science major who hopes to become a lawyer one day.

“You have all these groups that are weaponizing young people in ways that we really haven’t seen before,” conservative political consultant Micah Bock told a group of teenagers and younger children to thunderous applause at last fall’s Texas Youth Summit. As he spoke, young girls at the front of the crowd took notes with their pom-pom pens bobbing. 

It’s all part of a nationwide effort by multiple well-funded groups, many of which originated or are based in Texas, to mobilize young people, mainly Christian youth, to engage in right-wing politics. These groups and their leaders are part of a roll-call of Christian nationalist power players who defend the January 6 riots, promote hate speech, and aim to build their economic and political power by instilling Christian and constitutional “originalism” in the public sphere. To achieve their goals, they are increasingly defending the use of violence, particularly anti-LGBTQ+ violence, which has shot up in frequency since the start of 2022. 

What’s more, the leaders of the movement are set on convincing young people, starting even before high school, that they are the underdogs in this fight—the under-funded rebels fighting a rich, powerful leftist establishment–and that what they’re engaged in is a holy war for America’s soul. 

The movement is meeting opposition from more progressive Christian leaders. 

“What I think they really are concerned about is their loss of a privileged place in terms of influence and power. I think Christian nationalism is being used as a tool to maintain and to galvanize that power,” said Fort Worth Pastor Michael Mills, an outspoken critic of that movement. 

“It feels a little bit like a form of indoctrination [in which] these poisonous ideas are passed from one generation to the next,” he said. “If there are no checks on that, it’s almost like, [as] each generation gets older, they get more and more dangerous, in a sense. And that’s the scary part.”

BACKSTORY: (tw: addiction mention, drugs mention)

Jackson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He came into the world packing a punch from day one. As a child he cried, and cried, so much that nurses were afraid his lungs would eventually give out; they didn’t, and neither did Jackson.

He grew up in a household where his father made most of the rules, and his mother listened to every bit of it, it eventually got to be a bit much for him. If only because his father is a highly controlling man who always wanted Jackson to be one way, and Jackson wanted to be another, it was a constant battle; though they did have their moments in which they sometimes got along.

When his younger sibling came around there was a shift in his family. His parents began to focus all their attention and aspirations on his newborn siblings, forgetting him in the process, and he became very protective of his younger sibling. He was glad they were kinder to them than they had ever been towards him, especially his father, but he often worried they were going to try to turn them against him.

He moved out when he was twenty, moving in with his best friend at the time, working odd jobs to stay afloat. He came to New Orleans on a trip with some friends when he was 21, and he fell in love with the place. He never thought that he was going to end up living there one day, and he has not regretted the decision to move there.

He's content being a line cook at the motel. He's got a personality that drips sarcasm almost every time he opens his mouth, and a morbid sense of humor to go with it; but overall, he means well. Just don't wake him up early on his off days.

** Jackson loves a good party, but somewhere along the way, he ended up blurring the lines. He's silently struggling with an addiction to cocaine. The problem is he hasn't figured out that he has a problem yet, but he's also good at hiding things.

eliana was adopted into the jimenez family when she was just a baby. she knows she’s adopted and she’s cool with it. nothing has ever really sparked her interest in wanting to know who her biological parents are, though both of her dads have always been very open to helping her if she ever chose to go down that path.

she is pretty down to earth, a lover of nature, and enjoys traveling. growing up one of eli’s dads worked for american airlines, and so it meant she was able to travel to various parts of the world for free. even if at  times she had to spend the night in airports or be there practically all day, eli loved whenever they would visit a new place. she’s visited many places and if you ask she’s  happy to tell you about it.

during elementary she got bullied pretty badly by the girls in her grade. for some reason they just didn’t like her, regardless how kind eli always was towards them. but despite this, she did have a small group of friends who stuck by her side and helped her through the tough times she faced in school. and she did fight back when it got to be too much but for the most part, no matter what she did,  it really left her anxious about people in general and she silently hated herself over it.

she crossed paths with the person who would grow to become her best friend, better half, and someone very special to her, WC TO BE ADDED. it started with a silly tour around the town which ended with the two of them sharing a pizza on top of the the roof of a random building while talking the night away until the sunrise. suddenly, life seemed like a little more brighter for eliana. 

however, somewhere along the lines, eli lost herself. on the outside she makes it look like everything is put together, like she’s okay, but in reality her world is slowly unraveling around her. she began hanging around a rougher crowd who introduced her to various new things in life, and even though it all seemed so incredible at first, that quickly came at a price. before she knew it she was growing dependent on the way the drugs, how they could just numb everything and make it all feel okay for a little bit, and it’s a habit that she has carried secretly to this day. does she know she needs help? yes. will she seek it out? probably not. with everything going on in life these days, she feels she’s but a speck in the whole thing and she shouldn’t bother anyone, especially her closest friends, over something she feels is her own fault.

for the most part, eli can be found sketching away in various parts of the town while on break or at the beach. she loves her job as a waitress and tries to always have a smile on her face when at work. 

CONNECTIONS

RUSSIAN BLUE there’s one person whom she enjoys spending time with but… she’s not sure she’s able to take the next step with them. although they are forming a close friendship so far.

SCOTTISH FOLD - a roommate! maybe they only see each other at night or the weekends and they are still a bit awkward around each other or maybe they are super tight and have weekly traditions lol or if you’re feeling zesty… maybe they don’t really get along due to a misunderstanding?  for one reason or another these two ended up roomies though.

RAGDOLL  - theatre buds! they go to weekly shows together, constantly quote the movies they love, and maybe even go to karaoke to sing their fave songs from their favorite musicals.

LAVENDER - judgemental glances aside, eliana is a ridiculously good listener so i imagine there might be someone in her life who just goes on full rants while they are with her and even though she acts uninterested she is very much invested in this person’s life lol

PEPPERMINT - she’s a coffee lover. maybe it’s cause the coffee is good or the ambiance is to her taste, or she simply thinks the barista is cute, either way, she goes to this particular spot for her coffee at least once a day and has established a fun little banter between herself and said barista.

Denton suddenly jolted at the sharp pain. His hand went to his backside and he spun around to come face to face with the wolf responsible. His eyes narrowed for a moment but he couldn’t stay angry at him for long and it was evident when his features softened with his sigh. “Yes, I know you’re excited but be a little more careful with those nipps, in the future. BACKSTORY

Caleb Khavian entered the Khavian family by complete surprise. He was the second born of the two children, and as unintentional as he was, his father adored both of his kids with everything he had in him. Unfortunately, due some complications delivering him, his mom passed shortly after having had baby Caleb.

Caleb grew into the more athletic one and outgoing one of the two Khavian children.It didn’t take him long to make friends growing up and his popularity only grew once he hit high school. His sophomore year of high school he became the starting quarter back for the varsity team, and his father couldn’t have been prouder. 

He somehow managed to balance his grades, football, and having a social life without seeming to struggle too much. Sure the guy barely slept, but he was hardly ever tired to begin with. When it came to having a dating life, however, that’s where he struggled. After his first relationship with a girl on the cheerleader squad went down the drain in a very toxic way, she cheated on him with one of his teammates, Caleb had a hard time trusting anyone into his heart again. 

After he graduated high school, Caleb jumped right into the college life. He went to school on a football scholarship but deep down the guy knew he had no real interest in pursing a career in the sport. From as far back as he can remember, Caleb had always wanted to be a firefighter. While most kids often changed outfits every Halloween his would always remain the same, and when he stopped dressing up for the holiday, he never once stopped dreaming of the day he would be able to officially call himself a firefighter.  Regardless, he played as if he were going to pursue a career in football. After graduation, though, Caleb enrolled in courses to get his EMT certificate and begin his process to be eligible to become a firefighter. 

In the process of making these big moves for his future, Caleb met Kaiden. It did not take long for Caleb to fall for Kaiden, especially after seeing that smile of theirs. And the moment they began dating, it felt like a fairy tail became a reality, he felt like the luckiest guy alive. Needless to say, he had fallen for Kaiden pretty hard pretty quickly. Unfortunately, not all good things could have happy endings, and, their relationship took a hit the moment Caleb began to suspect that Kaiden could be cheating on him. When it began to feel like his boyfriend was spending too much time ‘late at work’ and distancing himself from him the little demon on his shoulder ended up getting the better of him. One night, after having one too many drinks at guys night, he accidentally let his overly jealous, paranoid mind get the better of him and he cheated on Kaiden. He didn’t sleep with the other guy, they did share a heated/drunken kiss, but it didn’t change the fact that he had cheated. 

Losing Kaiden was, and is, Caleb’s biggest regret. He hates himself for having ever cheated in the first place, something he never did again after the fact, and he honestly couldn’t understand how he had let himself fall so deep in his own mind.  After the break up he kept himself busy with pursing his goals, and while he did date here and there, he never really got serious with anyone again. He did, however, get a cute pup that he adores to death!

Now a days, Caleb is the one spending most of his time working. He absolutely loves his job and he’s proud to do what he does. When he isn’t on the clock, though, he’s often times either playing video games, reading comics, writing, sketching, or walking chewy. He’s got a good heart, despite the mistakes he has made in the past.
