what do stink bugs do when they come indoors? they keep finding their way into my dorm room and bugs tend to really freak me out when they’re in my living space, but it’s something I want to work on. I just found one in my curtain, and I don’t really want to kill it, but I’m anxious about it flying toward me or something. fun facts about them and what they do would maybe help me to be less afraid of them, if you have any to share?

They don't do much! I'll assume you're referring to brown marmorated stink bugs which have been spreading wildly in the US over the past decade or so. They're not native, and have done a lot of damage to crops, but they are not harmful to people. They can't bite or sting or anything since they are plant feeders with a cute little tube for a mouth. They'll sometimes fly at you, but only because you look like a nice place to hide. Mostly they will just walk around on the walls and hide in little crannies. They come into houses in the fall to find a place to overwinter. They could also do this outside, but houses just have so many nice cozy cracks to hide in! Some of them will die inside, but others will find a place to go into diapause (sort of like hibernation) until the spring. Since we keep our houses warm, though, it's not uncommon to find them wandering around well into the middle of winter. This isn't ideal, though, as they won't have a source of food to survive if they're awake. You might find them sipping from water around a sink or in the shower. Other than that, they really don't do anything! They are goofy, clumsy little dudes and I love them. But if you don't want them in your house/dorm, it's okay to catch them in a cup and put them somewhere sheltered outside - in a garage or shed, under a porch, in some leaf litter under a tree or bush, on a pile of wood, etc.

I’m a naturally gifted voice actor for some reason lol

I never really practiced it or know anything about voice work objectively, but I can do a nice wide range of different voices, and I love doing voice-over for text-heavy games while playing them with friends, we always have fun playing different characters together

I’ve been told I can p much perfectly imitate both Aquamarine and Blue Diamond from steven universe also, which is hilarious

oh fam, I have dyed my hair bright magenta multiple times over the last few years, and I would have my hair like that always if dyeing it wasn’t such an ordeal and it would stop coming out after like a month pfft

after asking you about the stink bug(s?) in my room i’ve kind of fallen in love with them… i keep having to gently transport them away from my nightstand and the way they crawl around on my hand is so cute!! i’ve named the stink bug Gerald (though it’s probably multiple stink bugs tbh) and have gotten very attached lmao. i was thinking about getting a small little bug enclosure—what kind of stuff should i put in it? some sticks and leaves, maybe? they don’t eat over winter, right? do they need water?

This makes me so happy!! I'm glad you are over your fear and have made a new friend!! Please tell Gerald I love him. Yes, they definitely need water, but will easily drown, so any water dish would need to be filled with rocks so they can climb out. If it's not cold enough they will not enter diapause and so they will need food. I've never kept them so I have no idea what they will eat in captivity! In the wild they will go after apples, peaches, tomatoes, and a bunch of other fruits and vegetables. I imagine their food sources would be fairly easy to find with a quick google since they are pretty big agricultural pests. If you do set up a little enclosure, feel free to share! And don't be alarmed if Gerald doesn't make it...most of them don't live through the winter indoors anyway. Plus since they are invasive, so it's no big loss if you keep one as a little friend rather than letting it go :)
