Party Time

“Master Tighnari!” Collei called out excitedly, stumbling into his room with her clumsy charm on full display. There was no calamity that occurred with his decorative vases this time, so Tighnari kept his eyes on his hands.

“Master Tighnari,” Cyno echoed flatly. If one didn’t know Cyno, they wouldn’t have picked up on the slight teasing in his voice. Tighnari could hear a sharp smack, a clear indicator that Collei reprimanded him.

“I do hope you know I don’t have to turn around in order to throw something at you, General Mahamatra,” Tighnari was focused on mixing the last of a salve a child needed after sustaining some burns. His mother was waiting patiently and Tighnari rarely ran behind. If Cyno and Collei were here, there was a chance he could get swept into something time consuming. “Is there something you two need?”

“No! Not at all,” Collei slid up to the desk Tighnari was working at, peering over his shoulder carefully. “Cyno asked me where you were so I brought him here. I can deliver the salve to the kid’s mom so you can chat! I want to check up on him myself, anyway.”

“You know the usage instructions for this salve right? I made it a little less potent since children are usually sensitive to it, but still relay the usual information to them.” Tighnari said. He neatly capped the salve and packaged it within a dark bag.

“Apply three to four times a day, keep watch for any irritation, wrap with bandages for the first day to maximize effectiveness, and keep it stored in this bag to prevent it from spoiling in sunlight?” Collei listed off, counting on her fingers.

“Perfect. Now go on before it gets too late, I know how much you like to play with the children.” Tighnari dropped the bag in her hands, smiling at her softly before she strolled off to find the family she needed.

“Such a warm welcome, Tighnari,” Cyno muttered after Collei was comfortably on her way. “How your bluntness wounds me.”

“How your jokes take several years off my lifespan,” Tighnari bit back, smiling at the slight chuckle from Cyno. “What brings you to the forest?”

“Are you not aware what day it is?” Cyno furrowed his brows, bringing his arms over his chest. “It’s your birthday, Tighnari.”

“Oh- It is?” The botanist brushed by Cyno to look at the calendar hanging on his wall. Neatly written next to the current day, in Collei’s handwriting, was a note about Tighnari’s birthday.

“Have you been nose-deep in your research again? What have Collei and I told you about taking breaks?” Cyno stood next to Tighnari, who was still staring at the calendar in dazed silence.

“I- I thought I was,” Tighnari’s gaze dropped down slightly. “I didn’t realize so many days had passed. I’ve been working with Karkata and helping Hapaysia recover- I genuinely have been taking breaks, Cyno.”

“You may have been thrown off by staying up through the nights sometimes,” Cyno turned to face Tighnari. “It happens, but you shouldn’t be this surprised. That tells me enough on it’s own. From now on, please let Collei assist you. Her internal clock is nearly mechanical so there will be no mistaking when it’s evening.”

“I shouldn’t have to rely on my student to take care of me when I’m perfectly capable on my own. Time shouldn’t have slipped away from me like that, and we both know it.” Tighnari’s ears folded closer to his head, his body language turning more defensive in an instant.

“You recognized your mistake, now it’s just going to take some time to recover from it. That lightning strike did you no favors either. Dehya has constantly been checking in on you discreetly.” Cyno reached out, rubbing Tighnari’s arm gently. “Just forget about that for now. I’ve come to invite you to your birthday party.”

“A party? Really?” Tighnari’s enthusiasm was nonexistent.

“Those of us that helped Lesser Lord Kusanali regain her freedom wanted to celebrate your birthday after your display of courage at Pardis Dhyai. A few of them would like the opportunity to get to know you better as well, namely Nilou,” Cyno explained.

“I see,” Tighnari finally turned to face Cyno in return. “It seems I have no choice in the matter.”

“Collei and Aether will be there?” Cyno attempted to make Tighnari feel more comfortable with the crowd of relative strangers there.

“It’s fine, I’ll go. Especially if Alhaitham is bringing Kaveh, I love to see how creative they get with insulting each other.”

“Such loving words.”

“Oh! I see them!” Nilou exclaimed with her face pressed against the glass of the door she was peering through. They decided to host the party in the Grand Bazaar due to it’s relative privacy. “Cyno and Tighnari are almost here!”

“You’re quite excited, Nilou,” Aether said, carrying over a crate of wine Alhaitham and Kaveh were kind enough to bring for the occasion.

“I love celebrating!” Nilou swayed gently, a smile gracing her features. “Birthdays are important milestones in life. Whether it’s the first or the hundredth, they’re all important to me. Some people have a hard time showing their appreciation for someone outside of these occasions. So, I like to help create an environment to encourage love and kindness.”

“Sounds about right to Paimon! Nilou sure does know how to sling together a party. Just look at all the food!” Paimon said, hovering over to the table crammed full of Sumerian specialties.

“Here, let me help you organize the wine then,” Nilou said once Aether placed down the crate. As soon as she crossed the room, Dehya’s booming voice caused her to turn around once again.

“Tighnari and Cyno! Glad you two could make it,” Dehya approached them both, slinging her arms over their shoulders. Tighnari jolted at the sudden contact, but relaxed when Dehya made no move to touch his ears like some heathen.

“Kaveh, where’s the gift we arranged for Tighnari?” Alhaitham asked the man next to him, who scoffed in response.

“You do know that was your responsibility, right? I bought it and it was you who arranged for it to be delivered,” Kaveh bit back. “Don’t tell me the Scribe forgot something.”

“Mind your tongue, it was bought with my money. And yes, I did arrange it, but the man did not like me and requested to deal with you on the day of the delivery,” Alhaitham’s neutral expression did not change. Dehya snickered, covering it with a cough so the Scribe didn’t fix her with a glare.

“Deal with me? First, that’s incredibly rude. I am a pleasure to interact with,” Kaveh said, planting his hands on his hips. “And second, you did not make me aware of future plans with the guy. How was I supposed to know?”

“I left a note on your desk since you don’t listen to a single word I say.”

“The desk I cleaned?”

“Well, yes. It’s not my fault you didn’t pay attention.”

“There are the roommates I know and love so much,” Tighnari dead-panned. “Would you mind keeping your bickering matches to a minimum? Nilou is visibly stressed right now and Collei will be in attendance. I’m sure you don’t want her refereeing your arguments.”

“Apologies, Nilou,” Alhaitham conceded without anymore fanfare.

“Collei enjoys us! Don’t you dare turn her on us,” Kaveh said, face flushed. He had a soft spot for Collei and didn’t enjoy arguing with Alhaitham around her. Tighnari knew he would only complain about Alhaitham if she was in the room, and he definitely used that to his advantage.

It’s his birthday, it’s not a crime to wish for peace among his friends for a few hours.

“I’m so glad you could make it!” Nilou said, approaching gently. “I managed to get into contact with Collei so I could get some of your favorite foods for today! She was so excited to help, so I hope she’s able to join us quickly.”

“I must say, the rain forest is gorgeous,” Candace spoke up, finally joining the little circle they had created. “You tend to it, do you not?”

“I do. I’m the head Forest Watcher, and Collei is a student of mine. Perhaps an apprentice would be a better title for her now,” Tighnari rolled the thought around in his mind. She was well respected and a reliable pillar for Tighnari to lean on. He’d have to make some changes to her status soon, then.

“I took a rather quick stroll with Nilou when she went to meet Collei and could see it was well tended. I’d love for you to visit Aaru Village when you get a chance. We could use your knowledge on identifying some plant species that have started to appear. I would feel better knowing if they were safe due to the many children around,” Candace extended her invite sweetly.

Even if Tighnari hated the heat of the desert, her reason was kind. He had no reason to refuse.

“I’m sure I could make some time within the next week or two. Perhaps I could drag the General Mahamatra with me since he seems to believe I can take a break, while he can’t,” Tighnari cut his eyes over to Cyno. The man only shrugged in response.

“Seems Cyno is in the doghouse, am I right,” Dehya slapped both of them on their backs before strolling off. “I’m with Paimon at the food, so if anyone wants any, chop-chop!”

“Leave some for Collei!” Nilou said, scampering off behind her. Tighnari couldn’t help but laugh as the people around him grew more lively with chatter.

Perhaps it would be a rather nice celebration.

Like since they’re a God and all, they’re dressed in fancy attire- but the clothes are always to big on them or they’re made in soft colors, so the characters coo over how ‘tiny’ and ‘cute’ {Reader} is

And if any of them are designers, they make them cut outfits like poofy dresses or little suits and force them to wear it

Like {Reader} is like, “I’m a teen! And a GOD! I refuse to wear this!” But they still end up wearing it lol

And maybe the characters fighting for their attention and time, maybe becoming a little too aggressive towards each other.. Maybe even threatening others to stay away from {Reader}..

Or! Or, if they talk about their family before they were transported, the characters engrave that into their brains basically and try to act like their them, or get upset that they mention that and say how they’re their ‘new family’

They is a lot of rivalry. Different sets of sibling are at each other's throats, the cousin and sibling types are usually at odds. Some mom and dad types bicker while the aunt and uncle types compete with each other and the mom and dad types. It's a mess you're always caught up in, and it's is never fun.

If you mention anything good about your family back home, the respective type of platonic yandere will try and copy that behavior. If you mention anything bad, they'll avoid that behavior like the plague

Dancing With Them

A/n: I can’t dance at all. 🙂

Characters: Lyney, Venti, Kazuha, Albedo, Aether, Xingqiu, Ayato, Thoma

Lyney:

Lyney is a professional dancer and he performs all of the time, so as his s/o, it’s natural to him that he would try to teach you how to dance as well. No matter how many mistakes you make or how much you mess up, he still offers his hand each time with a small smile on his face. <3

Venti:

Venti doesn’t really know how to dance either, so it’s just a freestyle. Venti would use the wind to make it more fun and exciting and would even lift you up into the air for fun which results you both falling onto the ground laughing. It’s overall pretty exciting to dance with Venti and sometimes you wish that moments like these could last forever. 

Kazuha:

Kazuha likes to dance with you under the moonlight and when it’s slightly breezy outside.

It’s really cute since no matter how many times you step on his foot, he still holds you close and never lets go. 

Albedo:

Albedo is a prince okay. Ok, so, I feel like he would have some experience in dancing. If one day Albedo is in a odd mood, he would lift you up from your seat and start twirling you around his room. It’s fun at first until you notice that the star that was previously on his neck is missing. 

Aether:

Instead of Aether asking you for a dance, you take his hand into your own and start going around the room. You mostly do this when he’s not in a good mood or when he’s drowning himself in his depressing thoughts. Even though it’s a small gesture, he still appreciates it and it makes him feel better. 

Xingqiu:

Xingqiu probably took lessons to learn how to dance since he’s from a rich family, but he most likely didn’t stick to it since he chose books over exercise. Even though he told you this fact, it was sort of hard to believe since he literally does a flip in the air when he’s fighting.

Sometimes when Xingqiu finishes reading a good book, he would take your hand and start twirling you around the room talking about how amazing the book was. 💙

Ayato:

Ayato treats you like a princess and will kiss your hand when he asks for you to dance with him. He already took lessons since he has to eventually dance with his future wife- *COUGH* (you) so he made sure to perfect every step.

You don’t even know it, but he’s been teaching you how to dance for a while now. Until the day he proposes and the day of your wedding, he will make sure you know each and every step. 

Thoma:

This is canon in my head and I can’t stop thinking about it. Thoma WILL dance with you whenever he’s cleaning or when the Kamisato’s are out doing errands. It’s something you both do in secret.

When Ayaka eventually catches you both, she can’t help but smile at the heaetwarming moment.

Dancing with Nilou will be a lot of fun and you can’t tell me otherwise. Whether you're both dancing in water or in the desert or even on stage- it’s still something you both enjoy. 

Yun Jin:

Ayaka thought that dancing with you would be embarrassing at first since she can’t really dance herself (lie), but when you both step into the water and start twirling each other around while laughing, she can’t help but treasure the moment.

You and Barbara are both idols and you both enjoy performing on stage together. Singing with each other brings joy to the both of you and it’s something that makes all the bad thoughts and stress in Barbara’s head go away.

Columbina was shocked when you suddenly took her hand and started twirling her around. Columbina is a singer, not a dancer. It was cute seeing her shocked for the first time, but that expression quickly turns into a look of happiness as she starts matching your every step. You taking her hand was just a reminder of why she loves you! <3

Eula:

Eula is a professional dancer, so to be honest, you already lost. Eula would give you dancing lessons on a daily basis if you ask her and will teach you while trying to seem professional at the same time. (Even though she's embarrassed. Plus points if you compliment her dancing skills!)

Lynette:

Lynette met you during one of her and her brother’s performances. Even though her brother enjoyed performing, she didn’t really like the experience. Whenever the performances were over, she would watch as everyone else was dancing with their partner or friends.

When you came over to her and asked her to dance for the first time, that was the day that she felt human emotions for the first time.

You would sometimes go out adventuring, and when you would come back hurt or any injuries, or just the smallest one. Scara scoffs you off, but then he comes right back taking care of your wounds. In secret when you were gone, he'd always pray that you were safe and would come back with no injuries, even the smallest one you can imagine.

Scara would hug you for the longest time ever so that you can't leave. You would always pester him, but he would always hug you by the waist so you couldn't go. He would always put his head on your shoulder and just embrace your warmth.

One day, you went off adventuring, and you were gone for far longer than Scara had anticipated. When you were back, you were heavily injured. You had blood on your face, your hands were covered in your dirty blood, and badly wrapped bandages. He immediately engulfed you into a hug. Scara then gave you good lecture and took care of your wounds. After that day, when you would go adventuring, he would secretly follow behind you so you wouldn't get hurt again.

Scara has a gigantic soft spot for you. He tries to hide it but he's so bad, it's so cute. He always wants to hold your face and he just looks at you, inspecting every detail of your face. He just fights the urge to kiss you, so Scara just blushes really intensly. He then let's go of your face and hides his own because he knew he was blushing.

Scara is the one to get jealous, very easily. You would sometimes go out and talk your friends. (Ex: Kaveh, Alhaitham, Nilou, Dehya, etc etc) he would just stare at the person in slight digust thinking; 'Why are they hanging out with them? I'm right here they could talk to me.' And when you guys get home, he immediately suffocates you in a hug.

Scara would always image him kissing you, or you kissing him, but he would always get too flustered and say to himself, "Love? Tch, weak. I can never imagine it." But whenever he sees you, he always feels so warm and happy.

You were always the clumsy one whenever you were around Scara. So when he realized that, he asked Nahida to put on tape on some of the books to stay attached to the bookshelves so they wouldn't fall on your head. Or he would put some of the tape on the table and kitchen appliances so you wouldn't break them and get hurt as well.

Scara has abandonment issues. So he always overthinks whenever you go out to do something, even if it's small, he's afraid of waiting to just not see you again. But whenever you come back, he always wants a hug from you.

whenever you would take naps around the house, Scara would watch you sleep to just make sure you weren't having any bad dreams. If he were noticing that you were crying or having a bad dream, Scara would wake you up. And or if a strand of hair got in your face, he would brush it away and watch you peacefully. And once you wake up, Scara calls you a weakling for taking naps /j

Scara doesn't know how to say I love you. He always chickens away whenever he says it and he always dies in embarrassment. But he'll always try and say it to you because in his heart, you are everything to him.

Scara just loves kissing you! He just loves giving you kisses all over your face. You are the most cherished person in his eyes, and if you're talking to him, he'll all of a sudden just kiss you.

"And so this happened..."

"Shut up." Scara said.

"Make me." You replied.

He just grabs your chin and kisses you. If he wants, probably for a long time. And once you pull away, he just wants more but doesn't know how to say it.

Sometimes, you forget to eat breakfast or lunch, and if you do, Scara immediately comes to you with your favorite food and stuffs your mouth with it. It doesn't matter if you're still chewing it. He'll just hold out a spoon to feed you. It's funny because he does this in a straight blank face, half of the time he's scolding you because you forgot to eat.

Whenever Scara is gonna go out somewhere, and you're still sleeping, he'll grab the blanket and cover your face while you're sleeping so he doesn't disturb you. And once he's done, he removes the blanket from your face and turns off the light so you can go back to sleep.

Scara, whenever he is locked up in his room, you always check up on him. He either crying or he has puffy eyes. And whenever you comfort him and leave the room, he tries to break the urge to pull you back into the room so you can't leave him.

Hello! This is just me asking for your spoiler-filled thoughts after finishing Sumeru's Archon quest because I saw you finished and I have so many feelings myself and would love to read yours.

HI SORRY FOR THE DELAY LETS GO (SPOILER WARNING)

Sumeru's quest was SUCH a step up from the past archon quests. In act 2, I loved how you actually felt the emotions of the traveler as they were stuck in the samsara (I remember very clearly how, when Paimon told Dunyarzad "sorry we overslept", I was like "that's not gonna leave a great impression since you guys had the same reason yesterday 😭" until everything started happening exactly the same and I was like. hold tf up. And then the whole mystery of what's going on was very immersive too, with all the reasoning steps taken to figure out the truth - like my mental gears were actually turning along with the traveler trying to figure it out, though of course the truth was way beyond what I could imagine. Nilou's dance scene was gorgeous, and Dunyarzad was one really great NPC that I genuinely liked.

3.1 had some really cool parts that I love to go back to - the cutscene talking about Deshret and Rukkhadevata (it's quite sad to see that Kasala tells the desert-dwellers to not forget of what Rukkha did for the desert, yet in the end, they did :'( ) and SCARAMOUCHE'S BACKSTORY ANIMATION!! oh my god that was the key that turned me from being "eh he's alright. a bit extra perhaps. interesting bits of backstory so far" into "I would bark for you, king". His CN VA did a really great analysis of that video that stated his interpretation - the "second betrayal" is a mockery of the friends and family that he doesn't have, and "third betrayal" is actually his bitterness that he couldn't do anything for the kid, and all of that just solidified into an anger since nothing ever turns out happily for him. For someone who's not quite human, his characterization is so human in a painful way that displays all of humanity's ups and extreme downs. Scaramouche is just such a fascinating character.

3.2 ARCHON QUEST!! Such a good finale omfg. The best parts, for me, were any moments with either Nahida or Scaramouche (or both). The way i was like simping when the illusion of Scara spoke to the traveler? His lofty, "godly" tone was like... aw you're so into the role that it's almost cute haha.

When we went to break Nahida out of her locked consciousness and you hear her talking to herself about all her efforts being met with disdain and abandonment, and her voice was so heartbroken and choked that my heart shattered into a million pieces... and also the traveler spoke!! Definitely worth remembering.

Scara boss fight(s). God. For one, his battle themes SLAP. Two, voice acting was so key here, and I think the CN VA was phenomenal - while in the mecha, he still has that lofty, deliberate voice of a "god" - but when he's defeated, you can hear the panic and desperation hitting him like a sledgehammer. The change in tone is just that audible. Honestly that scene where he lost the gnosis made me feel so bad for him 😭😭 he's usually so arrogant and temperamental but this thing, the reason why he even exists, has such a hold over him. His expressions were also heartbreaking 😭

But the angst doesn't end, because there was the Nahida and Rukkhadevata scene and the tears were POURING down my face because, again, the voice acting was great (you could hear Nahida's voice getting higher and airy from tears) and also the expressions, I think it's the first time we've had such realistic intense crying in the game. Rukkha is someone we've only known for a single scene, yet it was enough for me to feel really sad that the entire world would forget her and her benevolence. Zhongli's line "Those who come to witness will witness, those who are born to remember will remember" hits real different here.

in summary, i love the gods of sumeru that we met in this quest (i count scara in this category)
