The Winner of the Ninjago Au Tournament is Storm Vessel Jay!!

Honestly kinda surprised by this since he is my newest au, but then again people and been really into the au so I guess it makes sense. Anyway, if you wanna see the final bracket it looks like this:

This was a lot of fun and also quite the wild ride for me. So many matches did not end how I thought they would, and again, I'm still pretty shocked that Storm Vessel swept as much as he did. It's gonna be a while until I do the next tournament, but that one is going to be the Oc Tournament part 2.

in which zane did not know before he died

remembered this very old au concept i’ve had since i was tiny watching ninjago for the first time… it completely unravels everything i enjoy about zane in the early seasons and i refuse to think of the necessary rewrites atm but i needed to make at least this one scene exist. can an au be naught but a single panel that makes me Sad?

rewatched the Tournament of Elements and had the thought of what if Kai got a Mark of Anacondrai to ‘prove’ his loyalty to Chen?

Season 4 - Angst Idea

Okay - just a thought floating around in my noggin The ninja went to Chen's island on the idea that Zane was there - I think there was one line about it possibly being a trap but that idea was quickly shot down. If there was a possibly, they were going to try! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now onto the angsty au ideas: there are two options

Option 1) Zane was never revived. The rouse that he is alive continues for the entire season only for it to get ripped out from under the ninja at the end. Save for Skylor, they lost everything. They went there to get back Zane, didn't get him, AND lost Garmadon and PIXAL They find her scrapped in the dungeon at the very end- while gathering evidence for the police report - they have to inform Cyrus Borg that his daughter is dead Option 2) As soon as they arrive, Chen informs them that the island is inescapable. They are trapped... and Zane is dead. With Zane being dead the team no longer has a common goal and falls apart all over again but even more violently than the first time. To have hope and get it ripped apart violently... they can't handle it One problem Zane is alive. The others don't look for him. He hears the guards talking about the falling out. He hears Cole walking by his cell. He hears Jay and Cole arguing. With the bits of memories that he does have he remembers their happy times, and so, the fighting KILLS him. It is only after Skylor uses Zane's power that Kai realizes that Zane is still alive. He "betrays" Lloyd, which Zane hears about and believes. Alone in his cell, save for his scrapped girlfriend trapped in his head, Zane believes that he has lost everything

AU Kai Smith!

1. Is 5’11

2. Was 12 when his parents vanished. He and Nya were alone for 7 years. Is 19 at the start of the series. 31 at the start of dragons rising.

3. His mother is Chinese and Is father is English.

4. The mark of the Anacondrai is a blessing from general Arcturus at the end of the AU equivalent to the TOE. It is said to symbolize strength and honor (the most celebrated traits in Anacondrai culture)

5. His dragon, named flame, was the guardian of the temple of fire. Flame is 9’10

6. The burn scare goes across his right eye and all the way down his arm, it ends at his hand. He got the scar from a lack of control over his powers when he was very little. For his childhood, he wore a ring that his father had made him (not knowing it was made of vengestone.

7. He considers him self just as much Lloyd’s older brother as he is Nya’s.

8. While he loves all the ninja like his brothers, he is closest to Cole and considers him to be his best friend.

9. He and Skylor had a very flirtatious relationship for a long time but kept not confirming the relationship, partly because they were incredibly anxious (despite there seemingly strong confidence) and partly cuz they knew it annoyed everyone else.

10. He has two main weapons. 1). The sword of fire 2). Half of the dragon blade. He and Nya intentionally broke the dragon blade in half during battle and they each carry one half.

11. He is the first to call out Wu on his bad judgment, withholding information, and all his other shenanigans.

12. Is incredibly overprotective and often overbearing.

13. Likes sports cars, video games, and ramen.

14. Is a perfectionist yet incredibly impatient.

15. Struggles with his anger issues.

16. Hates when he needs to rely on others.

17. Feels guilty of the fact the Nya wasn’t spared her childhood. As if, despite his parents leaving, it his fault cuz he couldn’t provide everything.

18. As a tendency to be incredibly oblivious to his own issues.

So Lloyd had her about six months before s3, so I headcannon he'd just turned physically 15 then (mentally 11 but in the end, he makes it work)

Lloyd: 15 Hellspawn: 6 months of chaos (& Lloyd almost in tears from stress)

Lloyd: 16 Hellspawn: 13 months (can walk & say two other words than sugar now)

okay SO y'know how in the FIRST first season Nya gets kidnapped by garmadon and kai joins the ninja to save her? What if he didn't go with sensei Wu cause "who TF are you and what do you want with my sister-" and he trys fighting garmadon on his own, nearly getting killed before Nya unlocks her water powers (instead of kai unlocking his fire powers) and escapes on her own, joining the ninja instead of kai, who goes back to their blacksmith business and just continues doing that, but in this au he's a good fucking blacksmith bc he had to be, and also he practiced when nya was off doing cool ninja stuff.

then when Lloyd enters the picture kai also comes back into it, as he found Lloyd in the desert while he was looking for the serpentine, and kai was just on a walk when he find him. Lloyd passes out bc of the heat and Kai's like wtf and brings him back to the shop, sending a letter to Nya cause she mentioned some dumb kid with a cool hoodie causing trouble and Lloyd fits that description pretty well. So after Lloyd wakes up, he gets time to just be a kid cause canon refused to give him that- and when the ninja pop by, Kai's like "yeah kids in the back. He's just reading some of your old textbooks, sis. you guys can come pick em up, except for you wu, you son of a-" and they pick him up, he's the green ninja, blah blah blah, anyhoo!- at the point in the show where Nya unlocks her water powers, instead, it's kai unlocking his fire powers! (Obviously with some changes to the season as a whole for that- cause fire doesn't do shit against ghosts-)

Anyhoo, it pretty much goes like-

"hey guys I'm gonna go see my brother." "oo! Can we come?" "I guess??? I'm going by train though, since he hates it whenever I just fly in on my dragon." "I'm sure it'll be fine if we just drop in near town, nya. No need for a train." (It wasnt. They got scolded for making kai fuck up an important order with their landing.)

But later, Cole, jay, and Zane are 'training' (playing) in the yard in front of the forge, and Kai's working on some stuff, when Lloyd bursts in through the door, hoping to scare someone- kai's shocked, and jumps back, right into the open flame he was working with. He gets up and everyone's staring at him in shock. Kai's like "what?" And they're all like "HOW ARE YOU NOT DEAD-"

So someone runs and gets Nya, and they figure out Kai's the 'master of fire'. He's hesitant to join them at first, since he just found out he has powers and also has no ninja training whatsoever, but Nya finally convinces him, and he becomes part of the team. He already knows how to fight, and spends most of his time either in his cabin, or below deck in the makeshift forge he made. Just because he became a ninja doesn't mean he'd give up the family business!

And instead of Samurai X, there's some idiot in red running around with a sword ♡.

Anyways, y'know how earlier I mentioned how the season would be changed around a bit to fit this au? Yeah, heres most of the changes!!

Morro is still a dick, and he still possess Lloyd! Instead of kai fighting him, it's Nya, as her being Lloyd's big sis is more prominent. Water still is the only way to kill a ghost, but the preeminent is too big and too strong for even a tsunami to truly work. Nya passes out due to exhaustion and kai, who was technically there to deliver a set of armour to a customer, goes into protective big brother mode and sets the preeminent on fire- like, he sets the bits of Stix that she used as armour on fire since it's wooden, and manages to sink her via the pain of burning alive. Instead of the side focus on nya's training to become the water ninja, it's on Kai's struggles to seperate himself from work as a blacksmith, his feelings of never quite being enough compared to the other ninja, his fear of hurting people with his powers instead of helping them, and how he doesn't feel like he truly belongs, because of the bond the other ninja formed throughout the seasons. And unlike with Nya, Kai's not with them on their travels. He's in the blacksmith's shop. He doesn't get to see his little sis save the world, or risk her life day in and day out. He's not apart of their adventures until his fire powers are realized.

Anacondrai Cole:

-Comes from the Anacondrai Curse Au

-Was experimented on by Chen and became part anacondrai

-Will randomly turn into his full anacondrai form and has no control over when he transforms

-Has trouble controlling his anacondrai strength for a while

Storm Vessel Jay:

-Comes from the Storm Vessel Au

-Becomes corrupted by the storm energy surrounding the island of the keepers

-Extremely chaotic and destructive personality

-Sometimes turns blue and snaps out of his crazy mindset

Felt like mashing my Slither Pit tattoo HC with the idea of Kai getting an Anacondrai tattoo.

(the idea behind the tattoo being that it identifies Kai as a pit fighter without actually having to identify himself)

AU NUMBER THREE-, TOURNAMENT HOST AU I AM, still sick, so unfortunately i cant find the energy to fully color everything but heres the idea and the doodle- idk if ill finish it but eh- have this for now while i recover Alright, the idea is pretty simple, while taking a walk after zanes sacrifice, he ends up getting kidnapped by chens men- and taken hostage for the days that the ninja prepare before they can go get to said tournament, because what better bargaining chip than a ninja? A ninja's master At first he was merely kept with the promise that he can see zane again, and as he's explained the tournament for his sake he's then told to be helping them, especially after chen got news that garmadon would be joining through a letter. Wu wouldnt have a choice other than to help, and knowing his ninja are competing he leaves behind clues within the rooms, within the island in hopes to point the ninja, as well as his brother in the right direction. While in the meantime trying to find zane, unfortunately though he was caught knowing a little too much for his own good, so with the help of a little dark magic, he was shown the way.. a better way, for power, using his want to protect by their advantage to take over the masters morals, and keep him at their side. A small side effect is hes now completely in turn for hosting the tournament, keeping him at bay is a magic cigar that whenever he uses amplifies the spell put onto him. The snake is used to keep watch of the sensei. Unfortunately the moment the ninja arrived the master was already completely overtaken, and now they have to figure out whats going on, while being in the watch of a now, completely theatrical and eccentric host that was their master.

For the Art Request, can you do the scene where Nya asks Buddy Kai how he knew Princess had the Anacondrai tattoo? That scene was just too funny for me 😆

LOL, yeah, Buddy Kai was blushing when she asked that. It was kinda cool to draw Kai in his cultist disguise, and of course, it's still fun to draw Red Nya in her kabuki disguise.
