So the sensor has not been sending push notifications the way it’s supposed to, after back and forth emails and troubleshooting with the engineering department of sensorpush they’re opting to send me a new one since it just will not work for whatever reason
Absolutely praying it’s just a faulty sensor cause like………… I really don’t want to go through an obnoxious refund process and have to find another -40c rated thermometer

this is what sony and other audio companies want you to believe, but upon closer inspection of a cd, you will find it isn’t really all that compact. 650MB on a 4.7” disc is kind of laughable — they really should’ve tried harder. crazy that nobody has done anything to improve upon portable digital media beyond usb/microSD solid state tech. like idk u could totally make like a little usb gadget that u plug into your car and it like, does something. idk what. i mean everyone just uses spotify anyways so who would really care. whatever. who cares. usb for ur car that has soulseek client onboard and can connect to wifi. idk. we need something as stylish as cassettes. i just think cassettes are cool. i wish i could get a modern car with a cassette player i would cassette the hell outta that bitch. fuck yeah. and now you can’t even get a “cd” player in one. like, fuck’s up with that? ok u added bluetooth good job yayyyyyy yayyy everyone say it yayyyy congratulations oh have bluetooth and apple car play and apple tv and chess you can play chess on your ddrive to work while you’re calling a coworker and watching family guy funny moments yayyyyy ayyyayyyyyy. yay. yayyy. . . give me back my fucking cd players and cassette players and headphone jack and aux input jacks and fucking how about the graphic equalizers huh. take the four band graphic eq out of the 1999 pontiac firebird trans am and deliver it directly into my face. might as well take the whole fucking stereo because guess WHAT THERE IS CASSETTE AND CD. BOTH. of them. with the coolest controls ever. fuck. let’s start shooting the fucking car designers next. nothing has any character anymore and it fucking sucks. all i want is the option to have a cd player in my car. is it really so much to ask. cds fuck. they’re laughably misnamed but they fuck. if a girl got me in her passenger seat and pulled out a cd binder i would rip her clothes off and fuck her sloppy right there (consensually). and what a world it would be. anyways happy cds to all and to all a good night.
its called a cd because it stands for compact disc

Aren’t you enjoying the summer? We are loving it. How’s your home automation system doing? Do you still use traditional remote controls or have moved to the mobile app to control the system? Apps can be a great way to control your smart homes. Unlike remote controls that work on Bluetooth and Wifi, Apps use the internet to connect to your home automation system, making your smart home devices accessible from any corner of the world. I have listed some of the best Luxury Home Automation Android Apps available on Play Store. While a few are too technical to be operated by anyone other than a Geek, most are quite simple to use and connect to your smart home. Savant Pro Savant Pro 8 is among the best luxury home automation android apps out there. The app lets you view your entire home right from the mobile screen. You can select between your Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, bathroom, etc. and control the lighting conditions, music, thermostat’s temperature, what’s playing on your Apple TV, windows shades or whichever Savant compatible appliances is inside the room. The app even sends you notifications to turn the lights off before going to bed. You can even set the lighting conditions as per your mood. For example, Relax mode dims the lightning in the room while Morning mode opens the shades to make way for natural light. Crestron You can with the touch of the screen can turn off any light in your home or lower its brightness, play music, change thermostat’s temperature, set an alarm, and more. Creston is a flagship home automation system that doesn’t want you settle for anything but the very best. The app is comprehensive, easy-to-use, and intuitive. You can control everything in your home using your touch screens android phone anytime, anywhere as soon as the device is connected to the internet Control4 Control4 can control and view your entire smart home. It can dim or turn on off the lights you want, change thermostats temperature, order security system, rotate CCTVs, lock doors, gather sensors’ data, drain or heat pool, and much more, without having to move from your place. Is there a song that you can’t get your mind off? You play it over your phone and Control4 will stream it over every speaker (or the one in your room) in your smart home. SmartThings App Samsung owns SmartThings and operates it as an independent subsidiary. SmartThings Android app offers better customization than any other home automation app on Play Store. While grouping smart devices by room is pretty much the norm in Smart Home apps, SmartThings goes an extra step. The app has option of “featured devices”. Featured devices stay on the top of the screen all the time. They save a lot of time of the users, who can now easily switch on-off the lights from the app without having to go through all the smart devices in the room. My Home also provides a view of all of the Things in your home with current The app, while free to download, requires Control4 4Sight subscription in addition to an active internet connection to work remotely. Gideon Smart Home Gideon Smart Home gives you full control of all your smart devices. Gideon Smart Home works Smart devices’ manufacturers to make more and more devices to work with the app. The app’s UI is not very different from the competition. If you locked your smart door with the app, you share the unlock key with your family and friends in a swipe. The app can manage more than one of your properties. You can automate your daily tasks. For example, you can set Good Night mode when you want to turn off the lights and pause the music. Harmony Harmony Android app on your smartphone and tablet can dim the lights, close the shades, raise the volume, and resume a movie with a touch on your Android’s screen. The app combines your home entertainment system—Smart TVs, audio system, TV Box, and PS—with home automation—lights, locks, shades, climate controllers, and other devices to create different experiences. The only problem is this that Harmony app requires Harmony remote controls to work
VeraMobile VeraMobile is yet another smart automation app in luxury segment that gives convenience, independence, and peace of mind that every smart homeowner seeks. With the VeraMobile in your Android smartphone, & tablet, you can view and manage your home from the comfort of your home, or while holidaying in The Bahamas Wink – Smart Home Wink brings you closer to your home. If you have either of the following smart products: lights, locks, sensors, thermostats, chances are they are already compatible with Wink. Complimentary services accessible from the app: Home Sitter and Moonlight amplify the abilities of your products to make your home feel more secure. Like every other Luxury Home Automation mobile App development solution, you can control and view your home from any corner of the world. Did you or did you not closed your front left for work this morning? You don’t have to worry. Open the app and check it by yourself. Wink is free to download and doesn’t need a subscription. LOXONE SMART HOME The Loxone Smart Home wants you to enter autopilot living. The app takes care of your daily chores and frees up your time to relish life in an intelligent, relaxed, and well-organized home. Yonomi – Smart Home Automation Yonomi Android app can interact with your Amazon Echo, Logitech Harmony, Sonos speakers, Philips Hue, LIFX lights, Belkin Wemo, and many more devices. The app triggers “Routines” so that it can interact with them and make your life easier. For example, Yonomi interacts with Amazon Alexa on Echo to control your home with your voice. When you wake up, have your Nest Learning Thermostat get the house warm while Sonos announces the temperature and the coffee machine brews the first cup of coffee of the day Shahid Mansuri co-founded Peerbits, one of the leading Android app development companies, in 2011. His visionary leadership and flamboyant management style have yield fruitful results for the company. He believes in sharing his strong knowledge base with leaned concentration on entrepreneurship and business. Being an avid nature lover, he likes to flaunt his pajamas on beach during the vacations.

This post is validating to me because it confirms I’m not just imagining the fact that printers have gotten worse. I remember in my youth, back in the ‘90s and ‘00s, I and everyone I knew had a home printer that Just Worked. Sure, they didn’t have much in the way of features, and the ink situation was always bullshit, but you could trust that if you hit “print” it would print.
Then in the ‘10s, when I was an adult shopping for my own printer, I found that this type of printer no longer existed. Printers were now proverbially unreliable, and all of them seemed to be loaded down with various nonsense features while inexplicably lacking basic functions. (What do you mean this thing connects via Bluetooth but can’t print double-sided pages?)
The one I eventually got (WiFi-enabled for some godforsaken reason, plus a bunch of other features that I don’t remember because I never cared about them, but it could print double-sided at least) has since completely died, and I’ve been putting off buying a replacement. (I’m a grad student on a university campus, so I have access to the library printers when I genuinely need to print something, but it’s less convenient and they do charge by the page.)
For years now, I’ve kind of assumed my perception of printers as Getting Worse was just nostalgia. Maybe the printers I used in my youth were also crap and I just don’t remember. And then I see this post, which — among other things — says, “hey, printer functionality really did peak around the time when the one you used to print out your school essays on would have been made, and they really have been getting worse since then.” It’s nice to know that I didn’t just make it up, and my perceptions are valid.
It does mean I’ll probably keep putting off buying a new printer for a while yet, though.
why are printers so hated? it's simple:
computers are good at computering. they are not good at the real world.
the biggest problems in computers, the ones that have had to change the most over the time they've existed, are the parts that deal with the real world. The keyboard, the mouse, the screen. every computer needs these, but they involve interacting with the real world. that's a problem. that's why they get replaced so much.
now, printers: printers have some of the most complex real-world interaction. they need to deposit ink on paper in 2 dimensions, and that results in at least three ways it can go on right from the start. (this is why 3D printers are just 2D printers that can go wrong in another whole dimension)
scanners fall into many of the same problems printers have, but fewer people have scanners, and they're not as cost-optimized. But they are nearly as annoying.
This is also why you can make a printer better by cutting down on the number of moving elements: laser printers are better than inkjets, because they only need to move in one dimension, and their ink is a powder, not a liquid. and the best-behaved printers of all are thermal printers: no ink and the head doesn't move. That's why every receipt printer is a thermal printer, because they need that shit to work all the time so they can sell shit. And thermal is the most reliable way to do that.
But yeah, cost-optimization is also a big part of why printers are such finicky unreliable bastards: you don't want to pay much for them. Who is excited for all the printing they're gonna be doing? basically nobody. But people get forced to have a printer because they gotta print something, for school or work or the government or whatever. So they want the cheapest thing that'll work. They're not shopping on features and functionality and design, they want something that costs barely anything, and can fucking PRINT. anything else is an optional bonus.
And here's the thing: there's a fundamental limit of how much you can optimize an inkjet printer, and we got near to it in like the late 90s. Every printer since then has just been a tad smaller, a tad faster, and added some gimmicks like printing from WIFI or bluetooth instead of needing to plug in a cable.
And that's the worst place to be in, for a computer component. The "I don't care how fancy it is, just give me one that works" zone. This is why you can buy a keyboard for 20$ and a mouse for 10$ and they both work plenty fine for 90% of users. They're objectively shit compared to the ones in the 60-150$ range, but do they work? yep. So that's what people get.
Printers fell into that zone long, long ago, when people stopped getting excited about "desktop publishing". So with printers shoved into the "make them as cheap as possible" zone, they have gotten exponentially shittier. Can you cut costs by 5$ a printer by making them jam more often? good. make them only last a couple years to save a buck or two per unit? absolutely. Can you make the printer cost 10$ less and make that back on the proprietary ink cartridges? oh, they've been doing that since Billy Clinton was in office.
It's the same place floppy disks were in in about 2000. CD-burners were not yet cheap enough, USB flash drives didn't exist yet (but were coming), modems weren't fast enough yet to copy stuff over the internet, superfloppies hadn't taken over like some hoped, and memory cards were too expensive and not everyone had a drive for them. So we still needed floppy disks, but at the same time this was a technology that hadn't changed in nearly 20 years. So people were tired of paying out the nose for them... the only solution? cut corners. I have floppy disks from 1984 that read perfectly, but a shrinkwrapped box of disks from 1999 will have over half the disks failed. They cut corners on the material quality, the QA process, the cleaning cloth inside the disk, everything they could. And the disks were shit as a result.
So, printers are in that particular note of the death-spiral where they've reached the point of "no one likes or cares about this technology, but it's still required so it's gone to shit". That's why they are so annoying, so unreliable, so fucking crap.
So, here's the good news:
You can still buy a better printer, and it will work far better. Laser printers still exist, and LED printers work the same way but even cheaper. They're still more expensive than inkjets (especially if you need color), but if you have to print stuff, they're a godsend. Way more reliable.
This is not a stable equilibrium. Printers cannot limp along in this terrible state forever. You know why I brought up floppy disk there? (besides the fact I'm a giant floppy disk nerd) because floppy disks GOT REPLACED. Have you used one this decade? CD-Rs and USB drives and internet sharing came along and ate the lunch of floppy disks, so much so that it's been over a decade since any more have been made. The same will happen to (inkjet) printers, eventually. This kind of clearly-broken situation cannot hold. It'll push people to go paperless, for companies to build cheaper alternatives to take over from the inkjets, or someone will come up with a new, more reliable printer based on some new technology that's now cheap enough to use in printers. Yeah, it sucks right now, but it can't last.
So, in conclusion: Printers suck, but this is both an innate problem caused by them having to deal with so much fucking Real World, and a local minimum of reliability that we're currently stuck in. Eventually we'll get out of this valley on the graph and printers will bother people a lot less.
Random fun facts about printing of the past and their local minimums:
in the hot metal type era, not only would the whole printing process expose you to lead, the most common method of printing text was the linotype, which could go wrong in a very fun way: if the next for a line wasn't properly justified (filling out the whole row), it could "squirt", and lead would escape through gaps in the type matrix. This would result in molten lead squirting out of the machine, possibly onto the operator. Anecdotally, linotype operators would sometimes recognize each other on the street because of the telltale spots on their forearms where they had white splotches where no hair grew, because they got bad lead burns. This type of printing remained in use until the 80s.
Another fun type of now-retired printers are drum printers, a type of line printer. These work something like a typewriter or dot-matrix printer, except the elements extend across the entire width of the paper. So instead of printing a character at time by smacking it into the paper, the whole line got smacked nearly at once. The problem is that if the paper jammed and the printer continued to try to print, that line of the paper would be repeatedly struck at high speed, creating a lot of heat. This worry created the now-infamous Linux error: "lp0 on fire". This was displayed when the error signals from a parallel printer didn't make sense... and it was a real worry. A high speed printer could definitely set the paper on fire, though this was rare.
So... one thing to be grateful about current shitty inkjet printers: they are very unlikely to burn anything, especially you.
(because before they could do that they'd have to work, at least a little, first, and that's very unlikely)

A Guide To Physical Security Infrastructure For Data Centers
Tumblr media
A Guide To Physical Security Infrastructure For Data Centers
Access control prevents unauthorized users from entering your data center. Many modern businesses are investing in cloud-based access control due to the numerous benefits it provides for your security strategy, such as: Remote management - you can easily view access logs and manage door lock status from anywhere using a mobile application or browser-based control center. These remote management features reduce time wasted traveling to the building’s entrance to unlock doors. Mobile credentials - a cloud-based access control system allows you to replace keycards and fobs with mobile credentials. This credential type is like a digital keycard that users can download to their mobile devices, making onboarding easier and reducing losses caused by keycard and fob replacement. Contactless entry - users can quickly enter the building without pushing a button or swiping a keycard. They only need to wave their hand over the access control reader, triggering remote communication with their mobile device to unlock the door.  First-time entry - the access control reader uses three modes of communication (WiFi, BlueTooth, and cellular) to ensure entry on the first attempt and allow traffic to flow smoothly into your building. In addition to these advantageous features, cloud-based access control offers open API integrations, allowing you to expand your security hardware's function with software integrations. Below are some of the best software integrations for protecting your data centers. Visitor Management Software
Tumblr media
Keeping accurate visitor records improves your security strategy in the following ways: It allows you to have an accurate headcount for emergency evacuations.  It provides records of who has accessed your building for security investigations. Visitor management software automates the visitor management process, ensuring your data is reliable. Manual processes can be unreliable and lead to errors. The visitor management software application provides users digital registration forms to fill out on their mobile devices before entering the building.  You can log their details accurately. Once they have filled out the form, they can enter the building using temporary access credentials, which will be revoked when they leave. The system automatically logs their entry and exit times for airtight security processes. Video Security And Access Control Integration One of the most significant risks with any access control system is the potential for an unauthorized user to enter the building using stolen access credentials. You can integrate access control and video security for identity verification by leveraging open API integrations. By integrating both security tools, you can make both data sets accessible on a single interface.  If you suspect someone has used stolen access credentials to enter your building, you can verify this without correlating timestamps from different data sources. You can even integrate facial recognition software to automate identity verification and implement MFA at your building’s entrance.
Video Surveillance
Companies are now preferring smart building systems that are cloud-based over on-premise alternatives. This is because cloud-based video surveillance offers remote accessibility for security data. Your security staff can stay up-to-date with security threats and investigate potential breaches from anywhere using their mobile devices. This saves valuable time that would otherwise be wasted traveling to a control room.
Zero Trust Physical Security
Regarding your physical security strategy, it’s important to consider zero trust. Although zero trust is often considered a cybersecurity strategy, it also applies to your physical security. You can’t trust every visitor, contractor, and interviewee entering your premises - so why should they be able to access your data centers and all rooms housing sensitive assets?  With a zero-trust physical security strategy, these rooms are secured with smart door locks. Users only gain access permissions to enter the spaces necessary for daily operations and nothing further. Securing these spaces allows you to enforce more stringent security for your valuable assets.
Summary
Datacenter breaches lead to GDPR compliance infringement and potential legal issues for your business - which could be costly. By prioritizing physical and digital security, you can ensure that only authorized staff members, and high-level employees can access your most sensitive and critical resources. Read the full article

okay they’re gonna have to reset my computer and software issues aren’t under warranty and the guy can’t even find the problem so fuck it i’m fixing my computer myself.
solution number one: purchase an external WAN thingy to bypass the issue and hopefully be able to move on without actually repairing the problem
solution number two: do a hard reset myself. it can’t be that hard and if it doesn’t work then i’ll know the tech ppl were wrong
solution number three: somehow come across 16 hundred dollars and replace my computer with one that has an intel core (kinda what i want to do but so incredibly impractical and stupid)
i do not want to reset this computer setting it up was such a pain and i can’t see how there would be any issue with my windows key because the only problem was wifi
and i’m so used to working with tech that’s a bit broken it probably won’t bother me much. half the usb ports on my last computer just didn’t work, i didn’t have a headphone jack on my 2013 macbook for a year or so and its bluetooth didn’t work, the laptop i’m using now struggles with having more than one tab open at once (i usually have around 60), i’ve used all my available space on the school computers and adobe stops responding every time i save, the volume buttons on my phone only work sometimes, and even my harddrive just refuses to get ejected sometimes… my cd player can’t read cds anymore, the tone knobs on my guitar don’t work, and the lead for my amp is broken as well as the gain and the reverb knob, pretty much nothing i own works the way it’s supposed to but you learn to deal with it i guess…
also i’m on my fourth computer of my highschool era :/ (technically my second atm since the fourth is uh broken so i’ve returned to number 2)
computer no.1 was my dad’s old macbook that we got for free from his work, which was great thru years 9, 10, and 11, until one day jt just stopped. apparently the motherboard failed and it would cost around $500 to get it replaced, but i was getting an ipad for christmas like the next month so we just left it.
it turns out, ipads are fucking garbage if your school almost exclusively uses google docs and i had a bit of a breakdown in the middle of the year because of lots of reasons, so my parents got me the cheapest computer available.
computer no.2 was a lenovo. it sucked so much and could only really run chrome, but i needed adobe for design work, as well as video games n whatnot, so for a time i had a two computer system made up of my school computer, for school, and my mum’s old work dell that we got for free. it was old, and slow, but it had heaps of memory and i could game, use adobe, and it had a massive screen and keyboard, but the battery only lasted a few hours and i wasn’t supposed to take it to school cuz it was too heavy (that didn’t stop me)
so that’s computer no.3 and it was great. i used it for everything, including learning how to code and make video games which i really need for uni. like it is essential for university that i am able to access unity and unreal engine, and much of my social life was on minecraft so gaming was also pretty important. during the summer holidays, i got bored, as one does, and got out my macbook which according to the guy at the shop was 100% dead and would never work again unless we paid $500. anyway i charged it and it turned on sooo fuck that guy i guess. it was about 9 years old at this point but it ran the sims really well and i used to prefer the macbook keyboard so it was fine. the battery life was, umm, not long, but it worked which was cool.
pretty much as soon as my macbook started working again, my dell started going haywire. several hundred dollars worth of repairs later, nothing had changed, and i was screwed. my macbook was awesome, but also ancient, and had 7gb of storage, and the programs i needed were a touch more than that…
so when there was no hope left for my dell, i made a deal with my parents. as a graduation gift/christmas present/you’ll need this for uni for my brother, my parents got him a gaming computer. as such, i was to receive a gaming computer later that year (so this christmas) for uni. so my parents agreed to get me my christmas present early because i needed a good computer for school (i bargain a lot with presents, like my old thing was ‘if i get a job these holidays i’ll pay you back’, a new phone because the screen literally fell out of mine was a christmas/birthday combo (my brother’s new phone was just a christmas present tho) so this was not unexpected for either party) it took many months to actually get my hands on a new computer for long complicated reasons, and during that time, my mac shut down again.
however! at long last! i got a gaming computer! it’s an asus tuf gaming thingamajig and it was awesome! until the gpu went into extreme power saving mode and i had to quickly learn what a device manager was and also how to install drives and whatnot… i got the hang of it and for a few months, things were smooth sailing
then, mere weeks before my mock exams began, at a time when deadlines were drawing near and a good computer became essential, it stopped working… it no longer connected to the internet… and, it has left me with the predicament above…
my mac works again, though the battery lasts about a minute, but i’m back to the lenovo, which i am extremely grateful to have and while it’s a shit computer i did finish writing my book on it and it has served me very well… i’m incredibly lucky to get to access a computer at all, let alone be able to replace them, but also i think i’m fucking cursed
like yeah 2/4 of these computers were literally decommissioned and given to us for free, but the amount of shit that goes wrong with my tech is ridiculous!!
when my brother got his gaming computer nearly 4 years ago, he left it open outside in the rain!!! it got soaked!! AND IT WAS LITERALLY FINE!!! i have the newer version of his computer, and i dare to use it for its intended purpose and it craps out on me!??!?
the computer i’m using now literally doesn’t have a functioning cooling fan!! i don’t know if the fan is broken or if it just doesn’t have one but it never turns on
anyway i think i might be cursed… like newt

Note
Smash anon here, my laptop has decided that anything more then turning on is immediately worth removing wifi privileges entirely (the literal driver responsible for connecting to Wi-Fi deletes itself from my computer) so it will a hot second before I can confirm SBB to be playable. I can however tell u that my go to website, Vimm’s Lair, packages games as 7z files so you’ll need a 7z unzipper. And I just thought about it, the program I use, dolphin, works with Bluetooth controllers so I might be able to see if I can get the GameCube inputs instead of the Wii (GameCube and Wii Remote setups are funky on a mouse and keyboard). I’m sorry for the inconvenience and will get back to you soon with results hopefully.
Oh no, fam don’t even worry about it!! Im as patient as they come, please take your time!!
Currently I can’t get to my computer for another week or so, so hopefully I’ll be able to test and see if my computer can handle emulating anything other than a game boy advance game by then 😎

Intelligent access control system solution
Tumblr media
- What is an access control system? An access control system, as the name suggests, is a system used to control entry and exit points. It has evolved from traditional door locks. Common types of access control systems include password recognition systems, card-based systems, and biometric recognition systems. - Classification of access control systems Password recognition access control system: This type of system verifies entry permissions by checking if the entered password is correct. There are two subtypes: regular and random keypad. The advantage of password recognition is its convenience and low cost as it doesn't require carrying cards. However, it has disadvantages such as lower security, vulnerability to leakage, one-way control (no entry record), and potential issues with keypads getting damaged or malfunctioning. Card-based access control system: This system uses different types of cards, including contact cards (magnetic stripe cards, barcode cards) and contactless cards (also known as proximity cards or RFID cards). Contact cards are less commonly used due to their susceptibility to wear and tear, easy information replication, and vulnerability to external magnetic field interference. Contactless cards offer advantages such as convenience, durability, fast read speed, and higher security. Biometric access control system: This type of system identifies individuals based on their biological characteristics. It includes fingerprint recognition, palm recognition, iris recognition, facial recognition, and finger vein recognition, among others. The advantages of biometric systems are that they can't be lost or stolen, eliminate the burden of remembering passwords, and provide convenient and secure access. However, the stability and accuracy of biometric recognition are still being improved, and the prices of biometric products tend to be higher compared to the previous two types. Biometric systems also have certain limitations in terms of applicable scenarios. Emerging access control systems: In recent years, new forms of access control systems using QR codes, Bluetooth, and WiFi have emerged. Residents can use their mobile phone apps to verify their identities near the access control device and open doors. They can also generate QR codes with limited time and access privileges for visitors. These new systems leverage IoT, cloud computing, and smart mobile devices. Access control systems have evolved over more than two decades and have become a comprehensive entry and exit management system. With the continuous development of the security industry and the rise of IoT, cloud computing, and smart mobile devices, traditional password and card-based recognition systems have struggled to meet market demands. This has driven companies to develop new products and technologies to capture a larger market share and increase product profitability. - Applications of access control systems? Applications of access control systems include: - Office Buildings: Access control systems in offices can effectively prevent unauthorized salespeople and other individuals from entering, ensuring the security of company property and enhancing corporate image. They can also be integrated with attendance management software to improve the efficiency of HR departments and enable flexible management of employee permissions. - Community Management: Installing access control systems in residential communities can effectively restrict access to unauthorized individuals, creating a closed management environment. It improves security and reduces safety risks. Access control systems can also be integrated with intercom systems and visual intercom systems, as well as incorporated into parking lot management within the community. - Government Offices: Access control systems can regulate office order, prevent unauthorized individuals from entering government offices, and protect the personal safety of officials. In some cases, where there is a high number of external visitors, access control systems can prevent unauthorized persons from stealing information or property. Access control systems can also control the entry and exit of personnel during different times, such as break time and working hours in government agencies like civil affairs bureaus and public security bureaus. - Education and Healthcare: Installing access control systems in schools can prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the campus, ensuring student safety and enabling record-keeping of student attendance and absences. In hospitals, access control systems can prevent outsiders from entering infectious areas and precision instrument rooms, preventing the introduction of bacteria into sterile environments. - Communication Base Stations: Communication base stations and power distribution substations have a wide coverage area and large system capacity. Some locations are unattended and require central control room personnel to allocate staff based on demand. - Elevator Control: Access control systems can be connected to elevator control, allowing only authorized users to call elevators or access specific floors. Many smart residential complexes are increasingly adopting such equipment, which requires specialized control circuits and forms a proprietary elevator access control system. - Trends in access control system development In recent years, with the widespread adoption of the Internet and smart mobile devices, the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in access control has rapidly expanded. The concept of "smart homes" has gradually entered people's vision. During this diversified development stage, companies are devoting their efforts to developing products with core competitiveness. Access control systems are no longer limited to basic entry control functions but are being integrated with other systems such as video surveillance, building intercom, WiFi probes, security prediction Read the full article

Being Married To Him

̶̶̶̶ ̶«̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶ ̶̶̶ ̶«̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ Requests open  ̶»̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶ ̶̶̶ ̶»̶ ̶̶̶ ̶ ̶
Can you j say glamorous??
On days that he can’t be there when you wake up, he’ll have a private dinner scheduled that night
Private dinner include his staff setting up the dinning room for you guys. He has an amazing set up. Always so beautiful
He always cleans up from work of course, and you can’t help but smile seeing him in a nice suit when he comes to get you from the bedroom
But is that all? No of course not. Mob or not, Shoto is still human, your still human, the fancy private dinners are great
But the chill laid back private dinners? Absolutely your favorite
Shoto loves you. You don’t have to dress up and be all fancy for him to love you and continue to fall for you
So sometimes, the private dinner aren’t fancy
Sometimes it’s just the great food, plus you and Shoto in comfortable clothes, sitting on the round couch at the foot of your bed, laughing and watching tv (later falling into his arms and cuddling
Those are definitely the best
Of course, he has a private driver for you
He has a driver, plus a second guard and they stay together
They take you where ever you want
Also the car your always go in, Shoto had it specially made for you
It’s a Newer Bronco, but of course he made some adjustments
The inside of course is great. You got a place to charge your phone and Bluetooth, all the generic stuff
But also there’s a gun strapped under the seat you’re usually in and the driver and passenger seat
He added so you could have wifi in the car, and extra compartments for anything you might wanna store there
Also, the top and doors don’t come off
It’d be cool, but shoto wasn’t having none of that. He’s sorry, he’d know you love it, but not that sorry
Also the windows don’t go down. Again, sorry, but not that sorry
And it’s bullet proof
The entire car
He minus well have made it outta vibranium
He spent a lot of money on this car truck
But it’s fine, that’s the only way we could have the peace of mind of letting you off on your own
Anyways
You’re his shining diamond at galas and events
Everyone mostly respects you (or just keeps there mouth shut
Shoto always respects you so much
And he does his best not to have you around the messy part of his work
He tries not to kill anyone in front of you
Or beating people up cause, that could almost be worse since it’s his bare hands
He doesn’t want you to be afraid of him
Not like you ever could tho
Also with you around he has to break some of his habits
Like his reflexes, as long as you know you have to be careful, it’ll be easier for him to work to break down his immediate reflexes (when necessary)
Meaning just don’t sneak up on him, always let him know when you’re approaching if he has his back turned, even touching him too quickly is a little iffy, you have to be gentle and just know he might flinch
Some things and parts of his reflexes just never changed tho
Other parts aren’t something he can just break
You’re his number 1, the one he cares for most. His energy goes toward protecting you
So even if you guys have kids, he’s still never used to the sudden crying at night
He will still on reflex wake up immediately and shield your body with his, clutching his gun and aiming somewhere in the room
Side note: he sleeps on the side closest to the door and doesn’t have a window on your side, the only window is in your bathroom, which again that door is closer to the regular door and all on his side
But anyways yeah, that habit just doesn’t ever really break
And don’t worry, he doesn’t ever actually aim it at the baby or anything. He’s just automatically up and aiming at the door on instinct
It doesn’t matter how quiet it is, if your bedroom door opens, he will wake up
Shoto also loves when you come in his office
His office is open for you, he has a couch you can take a nap on and blankets and pillows and stuff
But if he’s not in his office, meaning he’s in the basement or conference room, that’s a different story
Conference room needs a knock on the door, and it’s a 50/50 chance he’ll let you in and he usually has guards outside the door and they’ll tell you who’s in there and if it’s even worth trying
If they’re dangerous, too dangerous, he’s not taking any chances. He doesn’t want you around the area while they’re there
If it’s the basement it’s a complete no. Doesn’t matter who’s there, what’s the problem, not happening. Just send someone to get him
If you do just have to go, he’ll already be with you
Only way you ever go, is if he’s with you
If you do have a job, shoto is iffy on that too
But if it’s important to you, he’ll let you go
He just always asks you have an extra guard with you in addition to your regular driver and guard
And that one will go with you into work and just kinda float around and stuff
Depending on what you do people usually get used to it and don’t really care
There’s always some nosy person but you usually come up with something and it’s no big deal
They know he’s not your husband, but they also know it’s just something about him, and you, that seems different
They’d never guess you were married to the number 1 mobster in Japan
But ya know, suspicion and internal questions always seem to surface more and more whenever you get the mysterious expensive gifts
The big flowers, and the lunches that get sent for you every now and then
It sure does make people wonder

here's some online classes/ stay-home mankai headcanons I had in my drafts since early last year
juza doesn't like to wear headphones because he doesn't like how it squishes his ears, so he always has his lectures played outloud which annoys the shit out of banri, especially if it's an 8am class and banri's still in bed
they yell profanities at each other until the teacher has to remind juza that he's unmuted and that everyone in the call just heard every single word
idk how online classes for theatre majors work but sakuya likes to sit in during banri, juza and tenma's classes
he's such a regular there that once when sakuya was busy and couldn't join in, the teacher asked "hey where's your friend?"
masumi does his lectures in bed, rolled up like a burrito in his blanket with his laptop tilted on the side, and listening to music in the background
tsuzuru worries about his gpa and constantly nags at him, but 8am no-filter masumi once said something along the lines of "at least my gpa is higher than your bank account balance" and tsuzuru's never brought it up since
muku invites misumi to sit in during his math lessons because sometimes the teacher's cat will walk in front of the camera and crash the lesson
that's also when they found out that misumi is really good at trigonometry
tenma once walked into his room during yuki's lesson with the camera on, which caught tenma in the background and caused an uproar in yuki's class like holy shit you're roommates with sumeragi tenma!!!? and yuki's just rolls his eyes like oh right I forgot he's famous
taichi in his class' zoom chat: hi sorry sensei I can't turn on my mic, I'm getting yelled at by my dad (sakyo)
kumon's been going around to sit in during the college kids' lectures to get a sneak peek of the content they're learning because he's still undecided on his major
he still doesn't know what he really wants to study in college, but "tsuzuru-san why are all your lectures so boring"
omi is a literal angel and often brings cut fruit and snacks to the students who have back-to-back classes because he knows they don't have time to eat
yoga with the adults!! it initially started as a fuyugumi team bonding thing, but they invited misumi, izumi and sakyo to join them too
tasuku helped tsumugi to set up zoom on the company's spare laptop (since he doesn't own one) for his tutoring sessions.
tsumugi once accidentally turned himself into a potato using that filter and got so fascinated with the zoom filters that he showed up to the a3ders zoom meeting using the cat filter and banri fell off his chair laughing
the dorm originally had really shitty internet connection because it's so big and they didn't really invest in good routers (no budget).
so there was once when the connection died during their classes and it was hilarious seeing several doors being swung open at once and students yelling DID THE WIFI DIE??? BRUH I WAS DOING A QUIZ
itaru has never been happier to be able to work from home because he can now grind his events without having to worry about his boss catching him on his phone
itaru also uses chikage's side of the room when he has meetings that require him to turn on his camera because he can't be bothered to clean his own area
hisoka's been losing out on sleep because the dorms are noisy 24/7 with the students around all the time. until azuma bought him a pair of sound-proof bluetooth headphones for him so he can listen to soft classical music while he naps
it was all well and good until chikage "hacked"/ switched the Bluetooth connection to play some heavy metal while hisoka was in the middle of a nap and woke him up
hisoka dumped a gallon of apple juice into chikage's underwear and socks drawer as payback

Doing my best to eliminate algorithms and clouds from my routine. Going caveman. Do recommend. My interest in music has been stagnant for years and I’ve missed it, but I rely on recommendations that all bore me, so…
When was the last time you didn’t need a wifi or Bluetooth connection to listen to music? bc for me it’s been awhile. Or, wifi goes down and suddenly there’s nothing you can do. Some of your games even require internet to play. God forbid you can’t afford cell service. Leaving the house becomes torture.
Also hey I knew smartphone burners existed but did you know they still have headphone jacks?? No more stupid adapters either! Fill it up with downloaded music, now it’s just an MP3 player! I’m so happy about it.
I had the magical power to have all the music I love stored in one box free to use whenever and I let subscriptions and corporate datamining steer me away from it. Now I pay 12 bucks a month for the same 7 recommendations and for half the songs on my playlists to be greyed out and unplayable. Fuck it, I’m making a change.
Not fucking paying for tv/movies anymore either. I’d rather buy one external hard drive and use it to store all my favorites, free to use and free to keep.

Every dress didn’t seem to fit properly no matter what mirror with different light in your apartment you tried. The spare bathroom’s bulb was dying, so that made the colour appear off, and the best mirror was dirty, which would dampen the romantic goal. Nothing made you feel that oomph that you desired for this date.
You could wear the standby little black dress of which you had two options, the clubbing one or the work appropriate one. It didn’t seem right to choose a standard black and no colour for this insanely sweet guy that had this insane energy. With that thought in mind, you dug deeper in your closet for that special dress that you’d never found someone worthy of it. It was your best dress and your most expensive with the tags still on. You would have gone for the maroon dress but it was Valentine’s Day and that seemed like over kill.
Somehow it still fit perfectly despite the length of time from purchase, it was a vibrant green satin with lace matching the colour. The dress's satin ended just below the knee with the matching lace falling an additional six inches past. The A-line skirt was loose flowing contrasting to the form-fitting material across your bust and midsection.
One of your favourite parts of the dress was the off-shoulder bateau neckline that gave a tasteful sneak of your cleavage. The bottom of the thick straps came to make a perfectly straight horizontal line. Across your waist was a one-inch wide satin ribbon attached to the dress that formed a perfect bow that tied the outfit together, no pun intended.
“Whoa.” You breathed stepping in front of the floor-length mirror kept in the spare bedroom, it had once been your roommates’ room before she moved.
You had to admit the dress was magical with it, bringing out all your curves and went with your skin tone. It was a pure shock to see how you managed to make the dress come to life with just a makeup look that was easy to do. All you did next was your favourite beige heels that went with everything. You had just slid on the left heel when the buzzer sounded and slid the right on as you hit the button unlocking the apartment building door.
“This is going to be perfect.” You breathed leaning into the mirror beside the front door. You inspected your lipstick as a knock sounded on the dark brown wood of your door.
“You look gorgeous.” Your date breathed, widening those colour changing irises as he took in your outfit, “You take my breath away. Happy Valentine’s Day”
Your cheeks flushed, “Thank you, Charlie.”
He stepped into the apartment as you quickly went to the kitchen to grab your coat and purse with your essentials. He had gently retrieved the coat from your arms to help you into the cold jacket.
“I know traditionally I would have brought you flowers, but I also know you love books.” Charlie breathed grasping the items in his hands, “So I got these flowers.”
His warm hands held three books. The top one was The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley with a cover that had the background blurry with only the back of a girl in clarity. The girl’s pink dress matching the flower in the upper corner of the book. The next cover proudly displayed The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley with red flowers growing down on a stone building. The third one was a light pink book with an anatomically correct heart with flowers growing out of the arteries, veins and valves; a collection of poetry I Saw You As a Flower by Ellen Everett. Lastly, you held Rupi Kaur’s second collection of poetry The Sun and her Flowers that had come out a couple years ago.
“Charlie, this is so thoughtful. You even has a rose one!” You breathlessly spoke gently touching the covers, “Thank you so much for these.”
“I thought we could read them together?” Charlie was bashful as he quietly asked with flushed cheeks. He didn’t know why he felt like this was his very first date all over again.
“I’d love that.” You softly told the Canadian with the manners a mother would be jealous to have in her home. Charlie’s fingers linked with yours as he tugged you out of the apartment into the hallway.
Your hands swung during the short walk from the apartment building to his bright orange Subaru across the street. The sound of the light wind rustling the trees lining the sidewalk mixed with the humming from Charlie was a perfect film score. He was the ideal gentleman even before he asked you out.
You couldn’t wait to tell your close loved ones about Charlie. You could really see this going somewhere. The relationship that is, as you were now on the side of a road with the Subaru’s hazard lights flashing.
“I forgot to fill the tank.” Charlie moaned, pressing his forehead against the steering wheel. His eyes clenched just as tight as his fists.
The Canadian was so embarrassed to have had what he thought was the best date of his life. He’d played music from the playlist he had patiently curated specifically for this date, and he held your hand to the restaurant. He’d already made plans for another date when his car’s warning beeped.
In Charlie’s haste, he’d forgotten to fuel up his car, so here he was with the prettiest person he’d ever seen in his passenger seat. His confidence in a second date had greatly diminished.
“Char, you said Owen was on his way. There isn’t anyone else I’d prefer to be stranded with. Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
“I wanted this date to go perfect. This is my first Valentine’s Day with someone.” Charlie admitted turning his head to stare into warm pools of your e/y colours. His eyes scanned the soft smile that appeared on your face as his confession, “I had this whole thing planned out, and now you definitely won’t want a second-”
“I’m gonna kiss you. If you don’t want that, let me know.” You murmured before pulling him in for what would be the best kiss of your life thus far.
Sure his car broke down, but you kissed him anyway. He tasted of the complimentary chocolate dessert from dinner.

A Year Later
A young, admittedly broke couple sat on the cold floor of the unpacked kitchen eating SpaghettiOs. You had only just moved into the studio apartment with Charlie that had drained most of your savings. Had it not been in a decently safe area in the city and a close commute you would have said no.
But it was the perfect starting place for you two as you both were unfamiliar with living with an SO. It sucked on each of your ends to not have a better situation, Charlie wanted nothing more than to spoil you on the first day living together. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible but sitting on the floor with a cheap candle was imperfectly perfect.
“I’m sorry we’re eating out of cans.” Charlie whispered pointedly, keeping his eyes on the spoon, stirring the red sauce with the beige circles.
“Char this is perfect. As long as it’s you and I then anything is perfect. Besides we didn’t label the boxes, I have no idea which box has our kitchenware.” You admitted glancing at the boxes boarding the edge of the room.
You ate out of cans for at least a week before you had unpacked the kitchen and had the means to buy actual groceries. Living together thus far had been going super smooth until wasn’t.
It was a bad day on both your parts, your entire work was deleted after a computer glitch. Charlie had auditioned for a role he had been really really wanting since he heard about it. Your father came down with the flu axing the plans to meet for dinner; it would have been the first time in six months you saw him in person.
The apartment's atmosphere had been rising and very volatile by mid-afternoon when Charlie blatantly forgot a deal. If he was going to play music, it had to be in the study so you could focus on your work.
Today he’d decided to be in close vicinity to have a virtual jam session with both Owen and Jeremy. He’d chosen the room you were in solely because it had the best wifi reception which you needed as well.
“Charlie, please can you go to the study? I’m trying to finish this!” You cried out as he struck a chord on the electric. His eyebrows came other in the glare he sent you, “I lost all my work last night.”
“The guys and I are working on songs-”
“-Charlie, this is due tonight. I can’t concentrate with-”
“It’s not my fault you have a shitty attention span!” Charlie angrily snapped contradicting the gentle touch on his guitar. He placed it back on the stand to not accidentally damage it, “The wifi is best in this room.”
“I’m very much aware of that Charlie. Out of the two of us, I use it the most. Can you please either move to the study or at least wait an hour so I can finish?” You pleaded with the Canadian actor ignoring the two guys on the computer silently waiting for the fight to be over.
“Why can't you mov-”
“Fine. I will.” You fully stared down your boyfriend for a full five seconds before you harshly closed the top of your computer. It took seconds to gather your work stuff into the leather satchel you stored the computer in, “You didn’t even mute the call.”
Charlie watched as you swiftly pulled on your jacket, “Babe-”
The sound of the door slamming shut cut his sentence before he even had a chance to speak his thoughts. The apartment was eerily silent compared to the sounds of music that always played through the Bluetooth speaker.
The inspiration to play evaporated with the aftermath of a stupid argument permeated the apartment typically filled with love. All three actors quietly said their goodbyes before they ended the video call.
You spent an hour uncomfortably sitting in a cafe finishing up what you’d needed to finish with the argument replaying. Your finger barely hit the button to send the email before you had already stepped outside the business. You spent the walk struggling to draft a text to your boyfriend.
It didn’t matter because when you walked into the apartment, you heard the soft song you’d both deemed yours. It was cheesy, but that was part of Charlie’s charm. Speaking of your boyfriend, he was sat on the floor of your kitchen with matching mugs of brownies.
“I’m sorry. I was insensitive.” Charlie started as soon as your jacket was draped over one of the kitchen chairs. His usually wide smile was as bashful as the one he’d worn on the night of your first date.
“No I’m sorry, Charlie. I could have easily put on my headphones or moved to the bedroom for a bit. The fight was stupid, and I love you so much that sometimes I think I take you for granted. I mean, look at you! You made the brownie cups-”
“Even sitting on the cold floor like when we moved in.” Charlie cheekily inserted, reaching over to hold your hands in his, “I like our tradition. I definitely like how we upgraded from SpaghettiOs to brownies.”
“Me too.” You breathed leaning over to press a lingering kiss on his lips. His hands delving into your hair to keep you close.
The butterflies stormed your stomach as the heat slowly inflated from your toes until it reached your flushing cheeks. Raw emotion pouring into the passionate kiss that only closed down as you broke for air. But you also went back in as that warmth slowly built in your tummies. Charlie’s eyes marginally opened to ensure he wasn’t imagining the Angel he got to kiss.
Finally, with heavy breathing, you pulled apart, but only a fleeting moment froze the time in the apartment. For, as soon as Charlie caught your dilated pupils, his one hand cupped the back of your hand, fingers tangled in your h/c tresses.
Soon enough, you were making up on the kitchen floor with each article of clothing tossed in the vicinity. A shirt landed on the kitchen sink spout. The brownie mugs forgotten as you gave into the passion with your boyfriend. Your lovemaking had you missing supper.
Charlie’s solution was a trip to the local authentic English pub founded by a nice guy from London. You never failed to stop him for a dance in the empty street as his smooth voice gave music for smooth motions. Dancing was a common thing from pulling off the road in Dieppe to dance. You drank and danced at the pub until Jack cut you off at 2am as his pub rules had.
You and Charlie just laughed in a love bubble as the real-world worries faded because you always came together in the rough times.
Months later you returned to Dieppe with Charlie to spend the holidays with them. The entire family together creating such a welcoming atmosphere.
“I’m gonna grab a glass of water.” You informed the group of gals ad non-binary pals who had gathered in Meghan’s bedroom. The group had decided to sleep over Meg’s childhood room with face masks, nail polish and lovely wine.
Meg and Jeannette both nodded to acknowledge your announcement before they returned to their respective conversations. You took a moment to take in the great group of Gillespie and Co you had the honour to be part of. The thirst was only temporarily forgotten in the happy bubble you found yourself in.
You practically skipped to the kitchen, barely noticing the two people in the living room, but their words stopped you in your tracks. Your boyfriend, Charlie Gillespie, stood close to his older brothers Ryan, Patrick and Michael.
“I’m gonna ask her to marry-” Charlie caught himself from finishing the sentence when he saw you standing pale-faced at the opening into the living room.
His entire body was encapsulated by the lights casting in the living room from the Christmas tree. The tree couldn’t hold a candle to the ring of your dreams that promptly had you bursting into tears.
“I RUINED THE SURPRISE!” You sobbed dropping your face into your cold hands, avoiding the gaze of the Gillespie brothers. Had you not been hiding in your hands you would have known the older three had vacated the room.
“Hey, it’s okay.” Charlie cooed with the ring safely put away in the box he had shoved back in his pocket, “You didn’t ruin the surprise. I shouldn’t have been telling my brothers in the middle of the living room.”
Charlie’s warm hands slowly pulled your hands from your soft post-mask skin with such a pretty healthy glow. He could see the remnants of the mask on the edge of your scalp, but it didn’t take away from your beauty.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, staring up at him from underneath your eyelashes. The soft hazel eyes not upset in the least, things often didn’t go the way you wanted to together.
Take the first date from over two years ago where you and Charlie had waited for Owen to meet you with a jug of gas. You’d shared childhood stories and future dreams. Or the time you hadn’t marked the boxes creating an entire week of eating out of cans and cartons.
Ruining the proposal was almost expected at this rate.
“I knew from the moment I saw you in that emerald dress I knew that you were the One for me. I’ve adored each moment I’ve gotten with you from the spontaneous dances on the side of the road. To bursting into song in the middle of the street.” Charlie shakily started with sweating bands but an open heart, “When your best friend told me the emerald dress was the special one, it melted my heart.”
“Charlie.”
“Other than my belief that this relationship will last, I was only ever sure of one thing in my life. I was sure I would be an actor, but now I’m more sure that my favourite role will be supporting you, loving you and evolving with you as your husband.” Charlie sniffled, taking one hand from yours to wipe the tears flooding his cheeks, “Will you marry me?”
“Yes.” You breathed lunging on your tiptoes to kiss him with as much passion as you could. Your hands caressed the skin of his cheeks; his long tresses tickling your wrists.
“God I love you.” Charlie gushed with a gentle shake of his head. His hazel pinned to your e/c eyes as if you were the most precious gem in the world.
A voice cut the bubble enveloping you, “Well are you gonna put the ring on her finger or what?”
Charlie’s head moved to meet the teary eyes of his mother surrounded by his siblings as they bounced on their feet. You laughed as your now fiance clumsily rushed to slide the absolutely gorgeous ring on your finger.
“Welcome to the family officially.” Jeannette cheered along with the celebratory whistles and yells as the crowd of the family grew more and more. Soon enough, the entire room was overflowing with people congratulating your new engagement.
Months later, you stood in front of that same group holding the hands of your handsome fiance. Both dressed to the nines in front of the officiant.
“I wasn’t looking for a fairytale, because they all end the same. The princess has a conflict that she revolves with the help of the prince. They get married and live happily ever after. I adore how we’re writing our own story that fits our relationship. Charlie Gillespie, I wouldn’t change a thing about our lives. I wouldn’t have it any other way even with the fighting and slamming doors, but we always end up on our kitchen floor making up with two brownies in mugs.” Your vows brought tears among the onlookers along with the Canadian barely keeping it together.
The vows would later be eloquently transformed into lyrics from you with the accompanying melody provided by Charlie. On Valentine’s Day, you played the song on the kitchen floor with a plate of brownies. Three brownies waiting to be devoured.
“Three for each of us.” You wept as you watched as Charlie melted into a puddle of joyful tears. He took no time in placing his hand over your flat stomach.
Yeah, you wouldn’t have it any other way. Especially when Valentine’s Day become more to the Gillespie family; a new little love taking up the day.

HelloGoodbye/Part 1:It’s The End Of The World As We Know It
Tumblr media
Summary: it’s the last day of life as you know it at Camp Redwood when the apocalypse comes calling, but what does that mean for the souls shackled to this particular hellmouth?
Word count: 3.3k
Warnings: mentions of death, implied-ish smut, the end of the world?
//
The day the world ended started out the same as any other.
You woke up to the sunrise, wrapped in a jumble of blankets, limbs and bleached hair.
Sleep wasn’t really necessary for the undead, but it just came naturally, like muscle memory. Plus it was a nice way to pass the time.
But it was what came after a good night’s sleep that was your favorite part of the day, more specifically it was waking up next to him.
There are few things better in life (past or present) than waking up in his arms.
Your lover? Boyfriend? Mutual sufferer in eternal purgatory?
You’re not really sure what you would call him. You and Xavier both agreed the afterlife was no place for labels.
But if you asked any of the other souls shackled to this hellmouth with you, they would all call you two the same thing; inseparable.
It had been that way for decades, you spent almost every reawoken moment together. He was the one thing that made your afterlife feel as though it’s axis tipped more towards heaven than hell.
He was the light at the end of the tunnel. And looking at him now, eyes closed, lips parted, and sleeping soundly without a care in the world. You might go as far as to say you are thankful you didn’t listen to your gut, and made the (what at the time you thought regrettable) decision to take your friend's extra ticket and step foot on the haunted site for a music festival, one that never even happened mind you.
You got stabbed in the face and she didn’t get to blow Billy Idol, you guess you would call the weekend a bust for the both of you.
You’re comfortably laying back and reminiscing, when you feel Xavier stir.
The long hum that leaves his lips, followed by their soft touch on your shoulder lets you know he’s awake and it’s followed by a mumbled “Good morning”.
“Good morning” you answer back. Leaning down to plant a chaste kiss on his lips. A little too chaste for his liking, so before you can pull away he grabs hold of the back of your neck and pulls you back down for more.
One perk of being dead, no morning breath. There’s no need to break the mood with a trip to the bathroom to brush your teeth. Not that that would stop him anyways, through your time with Xavier you have come to realize that there are very few things he won’t try, and even less he would determine “too gross” to kill his mood.
So much like countless mornings before this, it’s a good couple of hours before you two make it out of bed and decide to properly “get up”.
“What should we do today?” He asks as he’s rummaging through the luggage some ghost adventurer left behind in their haste to “get the fuck out of this place”. It had been years since anyone around here had partaken in any blood sport. But that didn’t mean there was still no fun in scaring the tourists. (And maybe occasional bets were taken to see who could get a camper to wet themselves first).
He pauses and holds up a pair of dark blue wranglers, waiting for your opinion.
You just shake your head in dismissal.
“We haven’t been in the lake in a while. We could take a dip...then maybe you could take a dip…” you say wiggling your eyebrows to insinuate your innuendo, while you make your way over to the stash, taking over the search for yourself.
“No”
“Why not?” You know the reason for his rejection, but can’t help giving him a little pout anyways.
“After what happened last time? Not happening.” His voice is stern but with the underlying playfulness that’s always present between the two of you.
“Oh come on...I won’t let that happen again.”
“Believe it or not, drowning is not fun, dead or alive. And you know what’s worse than drowning once? Coming back to and drowning again because the person with their legs wrapped around your head hasn’t even noticed!” He emphasizes his “anger” by snatching the green umbro shorts you’d found from your hands and proceeding to dramatically stomp his legs through the holes before pulling them up around his hips.
“You only have yourself to blame for that, if you weren’t always such a tease I would have known something was wrong. I just thought you were trying to work me up and build my anticipation, not give me some signal your foot was stuck in the mud” You argue back tossing him a cut off Duran Duran t-shirt, that despite its tag saying 2018 has been given holes and bleached to give it a “vintage” look. The irony of donning such items always makes you laugh.
As he finishes getting dressed you simply look at him with that same pout back on your face, although it slowly morphs into a smile as you see his resolve slipping away.
Who is he kidding, he could never say no to you. He would do anything you ever asked. He would drown every hour, on the hour, if it kept you looking at him the way you are now.
“Fine, but if I start slapping your thighs it is not to keep you in line, it’s me begging for oxygen.”
“Ok” you agree with a chuckle as you grab his hand and head to the door, but he holds his place, making you turn and raise a brow at him.
“And the next time those birdwatchers are in camp, you have to blow me in front of that Condor’s nest they all jizz their jeans for.”
“Sure” you answer, shrugging your shoulders, not a bad trade...
“While they’re taking pictures of it.”
You pause for barely a moment to think that over, who were you kidding, you’re just as whipped as he is.
“Deal”
You weren’t in the water very long before you heard it, a siren sounding in the distance.
Xavier had only just removed your bottoms before you were pulling him up by his hair.
“What?” He asks, as he emerges, shaking droplets out his face with a look of confusion mixed with some underlying self doubt. “What’s wrong?”
“Do you hear that?”
As you both listen the sirens start to get louder and new ones join in the cacophony of sounding alarms.
“Yea, they’re probably just testing the storm sirens?”
“All of them?”
Before Xavier can talk you out of worrying and let him “get back to work” you’re interrupted by Chet yelling at you from the dock.
“Hey! You guys should see this”
Once you both redress you make your way to the cabin which once upon a time was assigned to the male counselors, but now it serves as more of a clubhouse for the lingering spirits. Upon entry you see almost every soul in the camp crowded around the TV.
There have only been two occasions when you have all collectively been in the same place at the same time; when you got revenge on Margaret, and when you made plans for what to do about the “Ramirez problem”.
Something big must be happening.
“What’s going on?” Xavier inquires as you join the group.
“The end of the world” Answers Montana, in a voice so calm she almost sounds bored, it’s like that happens every week.
“Oh no did Belinda Carlyle die?!”
“No...not yet anyway”
Your attention is brought back to the flat screen television Jingle’s son Bobby had gifted you. After his visit, he had been kind enough to set up wifi around the camp, as well as pay for a cable package, with the help of Brooke and Rita (or whatever her real name was). After hours of trying to explain how a touch screen works, as well as the grappling concept of Bluetooth; he deemed the pursuit pretty much a wash. But you did all know how to work a television, so most days were spent watching reruns of Knight Rider or Press Your Luck, and checking in with the nightly news.
So now you found yourself surrounded by your fellow ghosts, watching the man on the tv announce the incoming missiles and saying a teary goodbye to his family.
“What does this mean? I mean for us?” The question came from one of the victims of the first massacre in the 70s, whose name you were now feeling a little guilty for never bothering to learn.
It was a good question nonetheless, your souls kept coming back after just about any obstacle thrown at you, staying attached to the camp, but would they stay attached to a camp that wasn’t even there?
Unfortunately this was also a question nobody knew the answer to.
“Should we go to a basement or something?” Chet chimed in
“I doubt a basement will win the fight against a nuclear bomb, at least this close to the blast radius.” Trevor now spoke up, making his way over to the television to check another news channel, before addressing the group. “Besides does that even matter for us?”
“I guess we’ll find out soon enough”
As everyone is switching back and forth between intently checking the news and murmuring confusion between each other, you pull Xavier aside.
“Xavier, just in case we don’t make it. I just want you to know” you start, averting your gaze as you feel the tears begin to pool in your eyes. “...I just...I’m really...you’ve been…” you’re trying to find a way to tell him how much he’s meant to you, and the amount of gratitude you have for his patience and understanding, how he’s made every day a memorable one for you, how he’s the best person you’ve ever known, dead or alive. How you don’t believe you’ve actually been stuck wandering the earth together all these years, because when you’re with him you think you must have done something right in your life, because there is no doubt in your mind this is what heaven feels like. But you can’t, you can’t get a single word out if you want to keep any semblance of calm and keep the flood gates from opening.
Thankfully Xavier stops you before your nonsensical blubbering can go any further.
“I know, you have too.” He says this as he clasps your hands in his, before moving one hand up to wipe a stray tear from your cheek and bringing your attention back to him. As you look at him you see glassy blue orbs filled with tears that match your own, holding behind them eons of love and unsaid devotion. But he is much better at holding himself together so he marches on.
“If something happens and we don’t make it through this. Or we end up in some new shittier purgatory, I promise you I’ll come find you there! There is nothing in this life or any other that can keep me from you, okay? We’re gonna be alright though, I promise”
All you can do is nod your head, and muster up enough strength to get out a quiet “I love you”
“I love you too”
You and Xavier sit on the bunk that was once designated as his, all those years ago when he came here with the hope of a fun summer away from his troubles. Back then he was always running; running to something, running from something. There was never any certainty in his life, not even in his after life, not until you.
Now he’s starting to feel like that scared boy he once was. The one once found on the edge of death in MacArthur Park, trying so desperately to feel anything, and trying even more in vain to make that feeling last. He had nothing to loose back then in his desperate pursuit for euphoria. But he learned real fast that when things sounded too good to be true they most certainly were.
And that’s why he holds you closer now. Because you were the greatest good he has ever known, and there is certainly no way someone as wretched and cursed as him could ever keep someone as exceptional and pure as you.
He’d tasted bliss for too long now, and it must be time for the collector to come calling. But that didn’t mean he would let you go without a fight, because here in your arms is the only place that has ever felt like home, and he would protect his fortress come hell or high water (or the literal end of the world).
But that fight may or may not come and right now was about settling your nerves and keeping you calm. So he puts his resolve on the back burner and moves to pull you into his lap to whisper words of love and encouragement while you wait for the missiles to strike.
You feel them before you hear them, the impact on the earth, who knows how many miles away, before it broke the sound barrier. You didn’t even have enough time to process the incoming force before you were knocked out and everything and everyone you had known for decades was wiped away.
/
There is no way to tell how much time has passed when you wake in a pile of rubble and ash, with no discernable clue as to where you were in relation to the miles of identical rubble and ash that surrounded you. You weren’t sure where in the camp you were. The only thing keeping you believing this was even still Redwood were the semblance of remaining trees around you. Other than that there was nothing else insight but dirt and debri, and no sign of any other soul.
After you got your bearings you go in search of Xavier, or anyone else for that matter.
After a few minutes you come across a spot of land that seems vaguely familiar. Although there are no more cabins and no more dock, you’re pretty sure the crater that sits before you used to be the lake.
The lake where you died.
The lake you had no escape from for the past 30 years.
The lake you were swimming in only a few minutes ago.
The lake where you and Xavier spoke your first words to each other.
The lake where you sat on the dock dipping your toes in the water as you told one another that you loved each other for the first time.
The lake that you used to think if you never saw again, would be too soon.
The lake that you would now give anything to see full again.
After a couple minutes lost in your reverie, you hear a voice in the distance. One you’d recognize anywhere.
Without a moments hesitation you take off towards its source.
After tripping over countless branches and what you can only assume used to be one of the cabins you make it to a clearing and see Xavier bounding your way with Chet in tow.
“Oh my god! Thank god you're okay!” He breathes out as he pulls you into his embrace. You feel him exhale in relief as he holds you, before he lets you go in order to inspect you, searching for any signs of distress.
“Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
“No I’m fine, are you ok?”
After looking him over in return to make sure everything’s alright and he gives you a nod, you look over to Chet, who you had quite honestly forgotten was there.
“You too?”
“Yea we’re fine, it’ll take more than one measly nuclear bomb to take down all this” he accentuates by raising his shirt and slapping his abs.
“I’m glad to see your modesty survived the blast as well” you answer giving him a wink and a nudge before you continue.
“we should find the others.”
/
It took a couple hours to track down the rest of your group. At least what felt like it, with the clocks gone there was no telling what time it was.
And the haze the bombs left kept it constantly looking like dusk.
After regrouping you all agreed you should look for any pieces of camp left behind, any signs of life, or just any signs of anything at all.
/
And that’s how it went for the next couple of days. You would walk around looking for signs of life, and finding very few momentos left behind by the camp. Then every once in a while you would all regroup in the middle of the crater that was once the lake, and switch between theories of what was happening out in the rest of the world and reminiscing about times when this place was still standing.
/
Almost everyone in your group of confidants, aside from Ray, was sitting at your usual meeting spot when he came barreling towards you all.
“You guys come here I have to show you something.” His voice was full of excitement.
“What?” Montana asked back, thoroughly unimpressed with his optimism. You had never met two people more different. To Montana, Ray was like a pesky mosquito, who she would often shoo away, that is when she wasn’t bossing him around and telling him to “make himself useful”.
“Just trust me it’s important.”
After a few minutes of grumbling and feet dragging. You and Xavier, Montana, Trevor, and Chet made your way to the empty piece of land Ray was pointing at. Picking up Bertie and the real nurse Rita along the way.
“What? What are we supposed to be looking at?” Bertie questioned, taking it upon herself to ask what you were all wondering.
“Right here.” He points to a spot on the ground, that aside from the line he had made with his shoe, looked the exact same as the rest of your surroundings.
“This is the entrance to Camp Redwood.”
“How do you know? There’s nothing here.” Xavier pointed out motioning around to the surrounding emptiness.
“I have measured the number of steps to the entrance, from just about every place in this camp.”
“God somebody needs to get laid. You have way too much time on your hands.” Xavier regards. And you can’t help but let a laugh slip out.
Narrowing his eyes at that comment, Ray attempts to defend himself. “We’ve been here for decades. Chet wouldn’t even talk to me for years, and before you met y/n, you and Montana only acknowledged me when I was cleaning up your messes, and I….you know what I don’t have to explain myself. What I’m about to show you will have you praising me for the way I chose to pass the time. You should all be kissing my loafers for this.”
Ray was really getting sick of still being the butt of the other counselors jokes and jabs. Even now at the end of the world, when he has made such a monumental discovery.
Deciding not to waste more time getting upset he proceeds.
“So as you know most of the camp has been destroyed and there aren’t really any notable places left behind? Well there is one. The tree we all signed our names on, well most of it anyways. But lucky for us I could still make out both Trevor and Xavier’s names. And exactly 644 steps straight ahead of those signatures is the entrance to the camp.
“You’re point being?” Montana snips, tired of waiting for him to get to the climax of his story.
“My point being. Right now I am in Camp Redwood.”
He says, before he slowly and dramatically takes one long stride over the line he had drawn.
“...now I’m not...”
“and I feel fine”
Notes: i wasn’t really planning on uploading any of my writing here, but I feel like there is more of an interest in Xavier content than on ao3 so why not? Basically the jist of this comes from speculating what would happen to the spirits stuck at the hellmouth’s after the apocalypse (which I know many people have wondered and we’ve never been given a definitive answer). So I wondered what would happen if the whole world became one large hellmouth and the spirits could roam free. This series follows you an Xavier as you eventually make your way to rumored Sanctuary. It will involve Michael Langdon, and as of right now might get kind of dark, so fair warning. Anyways, thank you for reading!

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
Aries
Your old workmates are disappointed in you. They thought you’d become more gregarious when you went out drinking, and they were wrong. But what do they know, right? Alcoholic drinks with whole milk in them have Vitamin-D in them, and since you hardly get any sun as it is, that’s a perfectly reasonable thing to drink. Even if the house mixologist gave you a funny look.
Taurus
You are going to be the butt of a great joke for Halloween. Specifically a horse’s butt. Make sure the person you’re dressing up with has good hygiene, doesn’t mind getting breathed on, and knows how to keep a secret. You might also want to consider a snorkel just in case.
Gemini
You're just a freaking liar, and we all know it. That hook-up you claimed you had with someone from Saskatchewan? Yeah, we called every phone number in every area code in the province, and you know what we found out? They said you were such a bad kisser they faked passing out on you! By the way, you owe us $37.75 in international direct-dial charges.
Cancer Moon-Child
Deny it all you want, Cancer, but you’re getting old. If we play a word recollection game, you’ll understand. Do the following terms make sense to you: “PEEK”, “POKE”, “GOTO”, and “LOAD Star Comma Eight Comma One”? If any of them instantly make you see blue, you’re officially OLD! Get over yourself.
Leo
Your plans to write The Next Great American Novel aren’t going to work. Your memory is lacklustre at best and your grasp of grammatical nuances to properly illuminate mental images in someone else is laughably pedestrian. Unless you can learn to write it in a British accent your prose is going nowhere. --and Yorkshire does NOT count!
Virgo
Your opinions of the world would be better crafted if you cared about people more. We know you’re as stuck up as they come, but would it kill you to be nice once in a while to other lives? Honking your horn to scare a cat off your car is only barely “nice”. You can do better.
Libra
Time to get your tomato plants ready for the winter. Let them stay on the porch until the first frost hits, then take any green tomatoes indoors. At that point you’ll have to decide if you want to grow the plant inside, or save the seeds and grow a new plant next spring. Better make up your mind; squirrels will be after your plants too.
Scorpio
Your paranoia about who is listening to your electronic communications is so cute! Anything radio-based can be picked up - bluetooth, wifi, 4 and 5G, Citizen’s Band, hell even your microwave oven gives off radio waves! It’s possible to bounce a laser off a window and hear what’s being said like a Police Radar Gun on steroids. Enjoy talking in your sleep.
Sagittarius
You’re ready to steal the show, except there’s someone already in the spotlight. This is a good thing for you. Work behind the scenes, in the dark, so that you can take their place when they implode under their own hubris. Memorize some Shakespearean insults while you’re at it.
Capricorn
Consider this line from a children’s cartoon rated “TV-Y”, meaning aimed at children 2 - 6 years old. “I never should have banished you to the moon... I SHOULD HAVE DESTROYED YOU!" They can’t use, as Deadpool says, “The K-Word”, but they totally meant that Daybreaker was saying she should have “Un-Alived” Nightmare Moon. So, yeah. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic… A show for kids. Ri-i-i-ight.
Aquarius
Learning the ins and outs of the quantum mechanical end of the Universe through YouTube will not earn you a diploma in the subject. Having sat through a twenty-five minute video on the subject without falling asleep is admirable! You can safely invest $20 in “Quantum Physics for Dummies” next.
Pisces
No horse’s tongue in your ear, no horse’s love-bites on your shoulder, and no broken toes from a misplaced hoof. You’ve survived a week of setting horseshoes to horses and you’re wondering why they fired you? Because you ran the dirty ones through the clothes washing machine. They’re Dry Clean Only! Next time read all the instructions before you set off on a new vocation.

AirPhones: The Good, Bad and Ugly
AirPhones are the newest trend in headphones. But, are they any good? The answer is yes and no. They can be great for listening to music or watching videos while you’re on the go, but they will never replace your home stereo system because of their short battery life and small speakers. AirPhones also have a few other downsides that we will discuss below!
Tumblr media
What are AirPhones?
AirPhones are wireless headphones that use bluetooth technology to play your music. You can also watch videos on them! Although they’re small, the speakers pack a punch and produce loud sound with good quality. The AirPhoness come in different models for varying prices so you should be able to find something within your budget range if this is something you want for yourself or as a gift. If not, don’t fret because there are many other options out there on the market today at more affordable price points!
How do they work?
AirPhones are basically bluetooth speakers that you can use with your phone or laptop to play music wirelessly. To connect the AirPhones, all you need to do is turn them on and search for them using your device’s bluetooth settings menu! The headphones will appear in the list of devices when it has been successfully paired with your smartphone/music player/tablet etc. Thegadgetians guideline will lead you to choose the best Airphones you want.
The Good, Bad and Ugly of AirPhones
The Good!
Easy to pair with devices.
Loud, quality sound for the price range you're paying for.
Lightweight and comfortable.
Great for traveling or working out at the gym.
The Bad!
They have a short battery life. You can't replace home stereo systems. They are only compatible with bluetooth enabled devices (they don’t use cords).
The Ugly
Their small size means they won’t be as loud as full sized speakers but you will still hear your music pretty loudly when there is no noise around you. Please do not add any number signs at the beginning of each sentence !! This is our last numbered list in this section so delete all bullet points above.
These are the only bad things about AirPhones. Although there is always room for improvement in any product, these three downsides aren’t deal breakers! If you don’t mind having a short battery life and/or if all your music is on your phone anyways where it doesn't really matter that they're not cord headphones then get yourself some fun.
Are AirPhones any good? Yes, but… They can be great for listening to music or watching videos while you’re on the go, but they will replace your home stereo system because of their short battery life and small speakers. AirPhones also have a few other downsides that we discussed above!
Tumblr media
Conclusion
AirPhones have the potential to be a game changer in the world of wireless headphones. They are easier to travel with, aesthetically pleasing and can connect wirelessly over Bluetooth or through WiFi at home for an uninterrupted listening experience. There is no way to pause your music when you get an email on your phone without taking off one earbud which means you will miss some information if it comes from someone other than who's talking directly into your ears.
