Time for a quick big-brain thought
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that I’ve made an entire hypothetical scenario for how a third PHP season would go last year, along with how the series itself hasn’t mentioned in any major announcements as of late, but what if this hypothetical third season had a major theme with its episodes?
As in, instead of using habitats as the themes, why not go with entire locales instead? Maybe this could be the show going back to some of its most famous settings before closing things out, but I feel like having future episodes focus on an entire location instead of a single biome in general could be an interesting way to deal with running out of compatible habitats. Hell, it could be a good way to not only introduce new species, but also bring back certain animals from past episodes. I know this is a little bit far fetched, but hear me out.
Nemegt (Basically the Nemegt Formation and the surrounding area)
Old Species- Tarbosaurus, Mononykus, Deinocheirus, Tarchia, Prenocephale, Barsboldia
New Species- Gallimimus, Udanoceratops, Saurolophus, Conchoraptor, Adasaurus, Brodavis
Patagonia (The southern part of South America, with places like the Allen, La Colonia, and Cerro Fortaleza Formations being found there. Areas like Chile could also fit)
Old Species- Carnotaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Austroraptor, Secernosaurus, Mortuneria (if we wanna continue with the idea of them being South American residents)
New Species- Maip, Stegouros, Aerotitan, Gondwanatherium, Sektensaurus, Noasaurus
Madagascar (Basically what it says on the tin)
Old Species- Majungasaurus, Rapetosaurus, Beelzebufo, Simosuchus, Adalatherium, Masiakasaurus, Madtsoia
New Species- Facatakely, Mahajangasuchus, Sahonachelys, Rahonavis, Vintana
Tethys (The European archipelago and surrounding sea, with places like Hateg Island, France, and even a small bit of Morocco being examples)
Old Species- Hatzegopteryx, Zalmoxes, Mosasaurus, Telmatosaurus, Barbaridactylus, Diplomoceras
New Species- Squalicorax, Ampelosaurus, Ocepechelon, Gavialimimus, Gargantuavis, Rhabdodon
Laramidia (Yes, I am aware that this could be like “North America” again, but with place like Hell Creek, Prince Creek, Ojo Alamo, and even parts of the inland sea that was still present at the time, there’s plenty of material to work with, even moreso than NA)
Old Species- T. Rex, Triceratops, Quetzalcoatlus, Alamosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Pectinidon, Pachyrhinosaurus, Nanuqsaurus, Prognathodon, Hesperornis, Xiphactinus
New Species- Ankylosaurus, Anzu, Habrosaurus, Lonchidion, Thescelosaurus, Borealosuchus, Basilemys, Didelphodon, Bravoceratops, Bonnerichthys, Hydrotherosaurus
Is this a rather odd and ridiculous idea for a third PHP season that might not happen? Yes, yes it is. But, like with my of my other ideas and projects on here, it’s one that I wanna share to get input on.

VOTE BERTHASAURA FOR DINOSAUR MARCH MADNESS 2023
Berthasaura is just *barely* losing @a-dinosaur-a-day‘s DMM poll and if the only remaining Noasaur loses to a friggin Spinosaur I might actually riot
A vote for Berthasaura is a vote for all Noasaurs, arguably the weirdest collection of non-avian theropods to ever exist. A vote for Berthasaura is, by extension, a vote for:
- Masiakasaurus “why are your teeth like that“ knopfleri of Prehistoric Planet fame, a genuíne Madagascan weirdo
-  Vespersaurus “only dinosaur that walks on one toe” paranaensis (yes that includes all birds), tragic second place of the previous round
- Limusaurus “are you sure that’s even a theropod” inextricabilis, which started out like normal little baby theropods before losing their teeth and becoming quasi-ornithomimid beaked herbivores, and its fellow Elaphrosaurines
- Noasaurids are also the closest relatives of Abelisaurs, which should be worth extra brownie points
And Berthasaura itself was no slouch either! In addition to being arguably The Most Ornithopod of any theropod (vote for wacky convergent evolution!), it evolved its toothlessness independently of the Elaphrosaurines, and was toothless its entire life! Friggin Noasaurs don’t even do toothlesness the same way twice apparently. Berthasaura also holds the distinction of being the second ever toothless non-ceolosaurian theropod to be described, and it had a nearly complete skeleton! Berthasaura was an ornithomimid before ornithomimids became cool (or even existed), an early-cretaceous throwback to Shuvosaurids, the first of a long line of weirdo theropods. Peak dinosaur, 9/10.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Ceratosuchops is what, a Baryonychine with a horn on its head? Boo, unoriginal, 4/10. The horn ain’t even that big. It’s only known from some fragments of a skull (again: compare to Berthasaura’s remarkably complete skeleton) and in all honesty I’m just tired of Spinosaurs at this point. I couldn’t even keep track of whatever Spinosaurus drama was happening back when I was deep in my early Covid paleo hyperfixation and I'm kinda scared to check in on it. Apologies to Darren Naish, but I’ve had a petty grudge against spotlight-stealing Spinosaurs since like the third post-2014 Spinosaurus paper and it sure as hell-herons ain’t going away now. Sure, Ceratosuchops was a heron-analogue with a cool name, but it’s not even a proper heron mimic. If you want some real convergent evolution, vote for Berthasaura.
Am I deliberately skimping on Baryonychine facts due to a petty grudge against the most famous member of the family? Yes definitely absolutely. They get enough attention as is. And what do they have that Noasaurs don’t? Weird teeth and an aquatic diet? See Masiakasaurus. Big fore-claws? See Noasaurus. Large size? Overrated, and Deltadromeus might be a Noasaur so they even have that covered. Sail-backs and a semiaquatic lifestyle? That’s Spinosaurus bias talking, vote for Bajadasaurus or Annakacygna instead. Spinosaurs may be fan-favorite weirdo dinosaurs, but I think that Noasaurs were objectively weirder and deserve to advance in the polls. Vote Berthasaura for a weirder, wackier theropod (and a way to unload that pent-up anti-Spinosaurus grudge, if you like)

I'm making too many posts today LOL-
Anyways...
I found an autistic dinosaur, and I LOVE him!
His name is Noa, and he's off the show "Pablo"!
Pablo is a show about how autistic kids see the world in different ways. With his imagined animal friends, Draff the giraffe, Mouse the mouse, Noasaurus the dinosaur, Tang the gorilla, Wren the bird and Llama the llama.
Every character has a different autism trait. Wren likes flapping and singing, Noa's really sensitive, Draff's got so much to say, Tang had lots of energy, Mouse loves quiet play, and Llama likes repeating things. While Pablo likes drawing everything that happens in his world.
My personal favourite is Noa. Noasaurus is almost identical to me, as we both like and dislike certain things, causing us to both struggle to explain ourselves. Noa also has the "flapping" stim when he's anxious, which I sometimes like to do.
To conclusion, Noa is a really relatable character for those who get anxious or scared in difficult situations, and I'm glad I found this show and immediately connected with Noa.
(More characters from this show may be coming soon!)

noasaurus replied to your chat: Aphobe: Don't use the phrase corrective rape! it...
Or just don’t claim that non-ace lesbians aren’t targets of corrective rape, something i’ve genuinely seen people try to say
Hey you’re trying to tell someone who experienced corrective rape that it wasn’t corrective rape. You’re shit.

4 and 7 for that batjokes fic, 15 for family?
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
For the first part:
“Are… are you eating popcorn?”
“I’m a bad guy, I’m supposed to find your pain entertaining.”
For the second:
The Joker suddenly squeezed his arm again and looked surprised. “I… wow, okay you really do work out.”
Bruce seemed to puff his chest. “Yeah I have a nine… “ he stopped and coughed. “I mean I… work out and I eat nine eggs in the morning every day.”
“That must take a while.” he crooned hanging off the arm in question. He tried not to smile too hard at the faint red tinge on the other man’s face.
“I… blend them and drink it down.”
“… That sounds disgusting.”
He paused.
“I love it!” He cackled. “Come on Brucey let’s show these high fliers you know how to have some fun!”
7: Where did the title come from?
“Two Dads” more or less just came from the movie itself and how adorably excited Robin was at the idea of having two dads and well... there was only one clear candidate for dad number two. “Playing the Part.” Honestly was just a place holder I am terrible at thinking of titles. It’s like the hardest thing in existence. I either get too specific or too vague generally.
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
While I haven’t finished it (yet... you never know): It is the only multichapter in which in terms of planning I knew how most things were going to go and was more or less fully planned. I think that’s generally a good idea when starting out.
I kind of like that I did an ‘episode structure’ in it- like little mini stories building on each other to the bigger one so there was always more immediate goals to aim for and not just the big giant daunting task of getting to the books end- there were multiple endings so multiple smaller goals in a way to get to which made progression a bit easier at the time.
Thinking of a book as sort of like a tv series with an over-arching plot and many mini-plots tied to/connected that main plot in some ways kind of helps I think and if I ever get the energy to do a book for real I might even use something like it (if not precisely like that) in terms of planning again.
Another thing was in certain scenes to hopefully show a lot of other people with lives going on even if it was something small like someone dropping a sofa on their foot while moving or the major characters getting in peoples way on the street. I like scenes where there’s lots of things going on which have nothing to do with the story because like the real world there are other people with their own lives and problems. The world doesn’t revolve around the main characters even if the plot being written does.

"The Dinosaur Data Book" (1990) p. 117 by Babbletrish Via Flickr: Selected strange illustrations from The Dinosaur Data Book published circa 1990 by The Diagram Group. Illustrators include Grahame Rosewarne, Ashley Best, Darren Bennett, Brian Hewson, Pavel Kostal, Lee Lawrence, Paul McCauley, Philip Patenall, and Micky Pledge (whew). If you hate the fact that velociraptors had feathers, Noasaurus (an early Abelisaur who strongly converged on them) is here for you.

Velocisaurus doesn't have jutting out teeth, as far as I know that's exclusive to Masiakasaurus.
Huh. You seem to be right - for some reason I’d assumed all noasaurines had them! It turns out we don’t really have data for others, although what we have for Noasaurus doesn’t suggest any weirdness. Good catch!
