So before starting with the questions Here's something about who I am and What makes me qualified to answer such questions? I'm a gradiot (an idiot who did his graduation and who has wasted money and time getting zero skills from college while there's an actual opportunity to learn everything online for free). Yes, I am a CS graduate. I have a great desire to make things, you might know the feeling of IT'S ALIVE if you have developed anything. During my college years I came across multiple technologies from Arduino to Raspberry pi, from PHP to JavaScript, Python, flutter you name it. I tried to learn and understand various technologies not due to college curriculum, but due to my desire to learn more and google 😎. Throughout my journey I encountered many questions and here are some of the questions I think will help you guys. Hope You'll like it.
Should I learn Python or JavaScript?
Before I start with why Python🐍 or JavaScript⚡. Let's talk about programming in general. Programming is a way of thinking and implementing the logic you create in a language that machines understand. Now there are styles or you can say structures of programming aka programming paradigms like Object-oriented programming (OOPs), Functional programming, procedural programming, etc. As a developer, you should at least know one of these paradigms. The more paradigms you know the broader choices you'll have for creating efficient and flexible code.

Back to the topic, Python and JavaScript both support OOPs and functional programming along with other paradigms. JavaScript is considered as the king of web programming that is used to create highly functional and dynamic websites. It has a vast ecosystem of libraries and frameworks to choose from like ReactJS, Angular, and Vue for front-end and NodeJS for the backend. You can also create native Apps for phones using React Native in JavaScript. So, with JavaScript, you can develop full-fledged websites as well as mobile applications. Whereas, Python is Best-suited programming language for Machine learning and data science. It has multiple Libraries like Keras, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, etc. Along with that, Python is easy to use and has large community support. You can also create websites in python using frameworks like Django and Flask. You can also create apps in python as well using Tkinter, kiwi, etc. Both languages have powerful rounding development.
TL;DR Here is my perspective on this topic. As a developer, everyone must know basic web development since Machine learning and Data Science is a service-based skill While Web and App Development is a product-based skill. Hence, Data Science and Machine learning people are called engineers and not developers. Notice the very subtle difference between an engineer and a developer. Also, you know Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, well they started with web dev and created their products. Ask yourself what you want, define your goals, and then choose wisely and always bet on JavaScript.

Data Science vs Web Development vs App Development Which one should I choose?
If you are reading this, you might be knowing very well the pay of a Data Science and ML engineers as compared to a Web Developer or an App Developer. All this huge burst about AI is the future and might very well draw you towards thinking that even I should learn Data Science for a huge package and a job opportunity. Here's the ugly truth, it's hard to get a job in Data Science since companies will prefer a person having the Domain knowledge and usually majoring in Mathematics and statistics, you should at least have Masters or Ph.D. for getting a job in this field. For Example- A fintech company will choose a CFA or Finance major rather than a CS engineer and teach them Data Science since python is easy and it's the efficiency that counts. So, the person with finance knowledge is well suited for the job. However, As I said It's hard to get a job, not impossible. Some CS grads have got into data science and are earning handful. All you need to learn is python and some libraries and mathematics. Now, As I said before, data science is a service-based skill you are not technically a developer you're an engineer who is figuring out solutions for a given problem. On the other hand, being a web or app developer means developing products. You can create applications and websites and release them to earn using ad revenue, selling them, or even creating and maintain them for companies that way you don't have to rely on companies to give your services. I suggest you to first, learn web development and then Data Science while earning through your web dev skills. That way you will have a decent skill set, portfolio, and a budget to start experimenting into the world of machine learning where processing power is everything.

Why should I learn Web Development when there is a popular Web Developing tool like Wix & WordPress?
WordPress and Wix are popular content management systems. They are best for creating small websites and blogs. Yes, they made it easy for anyone to create websites but that doesn't mean web developers' jobs are gone. You can't create Amazon, Netflix, Twitter, and large fully functional websites using them. So, if you are trying to be a low-level web developer, you can pretty much say goodbye to developing websites. You can google top trending tech skills in demand and you will find AngularJS, ReactJS, NodeJS developers in demand. Not only websites but you can also create native applications for android and iOS using React-native and games using ThreeJS a JavaScript library. Possibilities are endless, all you have to do is START. I'll suggest you start with MERN stack just my personal opinion but you can research and pick whichever stack you like.

Is NodeJS better than Django?
Before comparing let's talk about what is NodeJS and Django. Node JS is a JavaScript runtime taken out of the client-side browser environment which uses OS binding for I/O, and Django is a Python framework. So comparing both is like comparing apples with oranges. Though let's have these points clear. When It comes to performance, Yes. NodeJS is faster than Django or in general python since it's written in C++ and is a JS runtime. You ask why? because JavaScript is faster than python because it works on an asynchronous non-blocking object model. When It comes to scalability, No. Django or python, in general, is highly scalable as the caching of applications is quite easy. Django is a high-level Python Web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design. With the introduction of npm which stands for the Node Package Management system, the open-source community has been boomed towards NodeJS since managing packages and dependencies has never been that easy. Also, npm is far better than pip when it comes to package management, you can research about it. Here are some of the big fishes and the backend tech they preferred for their development. Uber, Twitter, eBay, Netflix, Duckduckgo, PayPal, LinkedIn, Trello, Mozilla, GoDaddy are some big names using Node JS as their backend technology. Pinterest, Instagram, Eventbrite, Sentry, Zapier, Dropbox, Spotify, YouTube are also some big names using Django as their backend technology. Notice the trend here, Uber, Twitter, and Netflix are some of the applications that priorities performance whereas Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube requires a lot of space and thus scalability is their priority. So, the choice is upon you what you want scalability or performance.
All these points made me confused 😕 about what should I do?
First, ask yourself what do you enjoy doing. Do you like to create games, apps, websites? What intrigues you? What sparks your curiosity? I have listed some of the questions depending upon the choices you make.
• GAME Development – If you want to get into the game development industry, you will have to learn C# or C++ for hardcore game development. You can create web games using ThreeJS or any other library but you won't be exactly a game developer.
• App Development – You can create an application using JAVA for android or Swift for iOS. Further, you can use React-native or Flutter for creating apps that would run on both android and iOS. If you want web apps, you can use Ionic as well.
• Web Development – There are many stacks (a set of technologies that suits well with each other) you could choose to learn like MEAN stack, MERN stack, LAMP stack, etc. You can create a website from WordPress or Wix as well. Develop an interactive portfolio for yourself with the stack you find interesting.
• Data Science, ML, AI – Start with python and take courses on data science, mathematics, machine learning, from popular websites like Udemy or LinkedIn. Start competing on Kaggle and maintain your Kaggle profile. Second, do yourself a favor and start learning algorithms and data structures in the language that fits your answer to the above question. Third, Start applying for internships with some projects and try to make an exemplary portfolio. Maintain your GitHub, LeetCode or HackerRank or any other profiles which you can include on your resume.

What’s new in Angular 8.0?

Angular 8 is the first major release from Google in the year 2019. It has focused on the toolchain and also making Angular easier for users for different applications development with performance improvements. But this, major version release also contains some new features and upgradation with respect to the previous versions. New Angular version is much lighter, faster and easier. Angular 8 supports the TypeScript version 3.4. So, using the new TypeScript version, it is easy to code with faster subsequent build with the incremental flag, type checking for globalThis, and generic type arguments. With the new release now available, it’s important to understand what has changed so you’ll know how to approach Angular 8.

New features of Angular 8-
1. Angular Ivy-
If you’re not familiar with Ivy, is it something you should think about? If the case is that, user experience of your apps is significant for you, then Ivy is definitely something you should think about. In spite of the fact that the system has made huge upgrades in file size and runtime speed since the times of Angular 2, Angular applications frequently will in general be on the substantial side with regards to file size and memory use.
Compared with the current Angular View Engine, Ivy provides the following benefits:
The code generated by the Angular compiler is now much simple to read and understand.
Rebuild times are significantly faster
Decreased payload size, so it will take browsers less time to download and parse your applications.
Better template type checking, so you can catch more errors at build time and prevent your users from encountering them at runtime
Over this, Angular Ivy aims to be broadly compatible with existing Angular applications, so preferably, you’ll have the option to get the majority of Ivy’s advantages without changing your applications at all. There will be some bugs and hiccups, however. So it’ll be helpful to develop your current Angular apps using Angular 8 and Ivy. There are some areas where Ivy is lacking—in particular, internationalization and Angular Universal support aren’t yet fully compatible. So if your Angular app supports multiple languages and additionally uses server-side rendering, don’t expect it to be ready to work with Ivy just yet.
2. Web Worker support-
As we all know that JavaScript executes in a single-threaded manner. So, to perform any huge data call or any consecutive Rest API call in an asynchronous manner is essential. But, in real application based scenario, this concept will not help us. This is because today all the web browser support the web worker process. Basically, the web worker process is the scripts executed by the browser in a separate thread. Communication with that thread in the browser tab will be carried out by sending messages. So, in general, web worker is not related to Angular from any point-of-view. But, the main point is that these scripts should be considered in the build process of the application. So, that after deployment of application the same process can be performed continuously. Hence, the main objective is to provide one single bundle for every web worker. Now, in Angular 8 this task can be performed by the Angular CLI.
Also, we can configure our Angular CLI project if we add the web worker for the first time. In this process, CLI will exclude the worker.ts files from the tsconfig.json files and also, add a new TypeScript configuration file named tsconfig.worker.json which handles the worker.ts file. Also, this information also added to the angular.json file as
“webWorkerTsConfig”: “tsconfig.worker.json”
3. Support for typescript-
Finally, Angular 8 is updates to the latest and greatest versions of Angular’s dependencies, which include tools like RxJS and TypeScript. In spite of the fact that this might seem like a small improvement, it’s also an appreciated one. Keeping up with TypeScript, in particular, is great because the TypeScript team consistently appears to pack useful new features into every release. In spite of the fact that there’s nothing preventing you from manually upgrade to the latest version of TypeScript in your projects, it’s great to see that the Angular team is keeping up with everything that TypeScript has to offer and that new apps generated via the Angular CLI will also use the newest version of TypeScript by default.
4. Bazel support-
In new version of Angular, Google introduced another build tool called Bazel. In reality, it is not a new tool. Google used this tool internally since a long time but now, they released this tool as open source. But Bazel is not totally ready in Angular 8. It is introduced as pick in choice with Angular 8 and is expected to be included in the Angular CLI in version 9.
Benefits of using Bazel-
It will provide a faster build time. Generally, It takes time for the first build but taking less time from the concurrent builds.
Using this tool, we can develop the application as an incremental build and deploy only what has been changed rather than the entire app.
We can eject the Bazel file which is normally hidden.
We can add Bazel Support using the below Angular CLI Command,
ng add @angular/bazel
Also, we can create a new app with Bazel with the help of below command,
npm install -g @angular/bazel  
ng new my-app –collection=@angular/bazel  
5. Differential Loading for performance optimization-
It is one of the best new features in the Angular CLI 8. Because with the assistance of these features, we will determine which browser we will target and the CLI will build the application with related necessary JS bundles with the necessary polyfills. The default target browser in the tsconfig.json file is now es2015. This means that when CLI build the application, it will build for the modern browser that supports ES6 features. But, we have to run the application in an older browser like IE9, then we have to specify it in the browser list file. This file exists in the root folder of the CLI project. Previously, it is used for the CSS part only. Now, it can be used for JS generation.
6. Changes in Lazy Loading in Route-
In Angular from the starting, the router mechanism always supports the concept of lazy loading. Till Angular 7, it was done by the string value of the loading module as below,

The value up to the #(hash) sign represents the path of the module file. In this the target component exists and the value after the hash sign represent the class name of that module. This style will continuously work in Angular 8. Only the way of writing lazy module has been changed. The string value of the loadchildren has been deprecated because of the support of ECMAScript and Ivy will only support this. So, now the loadchildren declaration will be like this,

7. Use Analytics Data-
In Angular 8, Angular CLI use analytics data so that Angular team can prioritize the features and improvements. So, when we update the CLI projects, it will opt-in with ng analytics on options. If we allow this globally, then it will collect some data like command used, the flag used, Operating System, Node Version, CPU Count, RAM Size, execution time and error with crash data if any to the Angular team for the improvement purpose in the future releases.
8. Support SVG Template-
Now, Angular 8 supports the template features with a file extension SVG. This means that, we can use the SVG extension file as a template in place of HTML file without any extra configuration settings. But why we will use a .svg file as a template instead of using the image in an HTML file? The reason is when we use SVG as a template, then we can use that as a directive and as a result, we can bind it just like HTML templates. With this approach, we can dynamically generate interactive graphics in our Angular Applications.

9. PNPM Support-
In Angular 8, Angular CLI also support PNPM including NPM and Yarn. Also, in the command ng add now provide a new flag called – registry for adding packages from any private NPM registry. This command is already available in the Angular CLI version for ng update command.

Practice GraphQL Queries With the State of JavaScript API
Learning how to build GraphQL APIs can be quite challenging. But you can learn how to use GraphQL APIs in 10 minutes! And it so happens I've got the perfect API for that: the brand new, fresh-of-the-VS-Code State of JavaScript GraphQL API.
The State of JavaScript survey is an annual survey of the JavaScript landscape. We've been doing it for four years now, and the most recent edition reached over 20,000 developers.
We've always relied on Gatsby to build our showcase site, but until this year, we were feeding our data to Gatsby in the form of static YAML files generated through some kind of arcane magic known to mere mortals as "ElasticSearch."
But since Gatsby poops out all the data sources it eats as GraphQL anyway, we though we might as well skip the middleman and feed it GraphQL directly! Yes I know, this metaphor is getting grosser by the second and I already regret it. My point is: we built an internal GraphQL API for our data, and now we're making it available to everybody so that you too can easily exploit out dataset!
"But wait," you say. "I've spent all my life studying the blade which has left me no time to learn GraphQL!" Not to worry: that's where this article comes in.
What is GraphQL?
At its core, GraphQL is a syntax that lets you specify what data you want to receive from an API. Note that I said API, and not database. Unlike SQL, a GraphQL query does not go to your database directly but to your GraphQL API endpoint which, in turn, can connect to a database or any other data source.
The big advantage of GraphQL over older paradigms like REST is that it lets you ask for what you want. For example:
query { user(id: "foo123") {     name   } }
Would get you a user object with a single name field. Also need the email? Just do:
query {   user(id: "foo123") {     name     email   } }
As you can see, the user field in this example supports an id argument. And now we come to the coolest feature of GraphQL, nesting:
query {   user(id: "foo123") {     name     email posts { title body } } }
Here, we're saying that we want to find the user's posts, and load their title and body. The nice thing about GraphQL is that our API layer can do the work of figuring out how to fetch that extra information in that specific format since we're not talking to the database directly, even if it's not stored in a nested format inside our actual database.
Sebastian Scholl does a wonderful job explaining GraphQL as if you were meeting it for the first time at a cocktail mixer.
Introducing GraphiQL
Building our first query with GraphiQL, the IDE for GraphQL
GraphiQL (note the "i" in there) is the most common GraphQL IDE out there, and it's the tool we'll use to explore the State of JavaScript API. You can launch it right now at graphiql.stateofjs.com and it'll automatically connect to our endpoint (which is api.stateofjs.com/graphql). The UI consists of three main elements: the Explorer panel, the Query Builder and the Results panels. We'll later add the Docs panels to that but let's keep it simple for now.
The Explorer tab is part of a turbo-boosted version of GraphiQL developed and maintained by OneGraph. Much thanks to them for helping us integrate it. Be sure to check out their example repo if you want to deploy your own GraphiQL instance.
Don't worry, I'm not going to make you write any code just yet. Instead, let's start from an existing GraphQL query, such as the one corresponding to developer experience with React over the past four years.
Remember how I said we were using GraphQL internally to build our site? Not only are we exposing the API, we're also exposing the queries themselves. Click the little "Export" button, copy the query in the "GraphQL" tab, paste it inside GraphiQL's query builder window, and click the "Play" button.

If everything went according to plan, you should see your data appear in the Results panel. Let's take a moment to analyze the query.

First comes the query keyword which defines the start of our GraphQL query, along with the query's name, react_experienceQuery. Query names are optional in GraphQL, but can be useful for debugging purposes.
We then have our first field, survey, which takes a survey argument. (We also have a State of CSS survey so we needed to specify the survey in question.) We then have a tool field which takes an id argument. And everything after that is related to the API results for that specific tool. entity gives you information on the specific tool selected (e.g. React) while experience contains the actual statistical data.
Now, rather than keep going through all those fields here, I'm going to teach you a little trick: Command + click (or Control + click) any of those fields inside GraphiQL, and it will bring up the Docs panel. Congrats, you've just witnessed another one of GraphQL's nifty tricks, self-documentation! You can write documentation directly into your API definition and GraphiQL will in turn make it available to end users.
Changing variables
Let's tweak things a bit: in the Query Builder, replace "react" with "vuejs" and you should notice another cool GraphQL thing: auto-completion. This is quite helpful to avoid making mistakes or to save time! Press "Play" again and you'll get the same data, but for Vue this time.
Using the Explorer
We'll now unlock one more GraphQL power tool: the Explorer. The Explorer is basically a tree of your entire API that not only lets you visualize its structure, but also build queries without writing a single line of code! So, let's try recreating our React query using the explorer this time.
First, let's open a new browser tab and load graphiql.stateofjs.com in it to start fresh. Click the survey node in the Explorer, and under it the tool node, click "Play." The tool's id field should be automatically added to the results and — by the way — this is a good time to change the default argument value ("typescript") to "react."
Next, let's keep drilling down. If you add entity without any subfields, you should see a little squiggly red line underneath it letting you know you need to also specify at least one or more subfields. So, let's add id, name and homepage at a minimum. Another useful trick: you can automatically tell GraphiQL to add all of a field's subfields by option+control-clicking it in the Explorer.
Next up is experience. Keep adding fields and subfields until you get something that approaches the query you initially copied from the State of JavaScript site. Any item you select is instantly reflected inside the Query Builder panel. There you go, you just wrote your first GraphQL query!
Filtering data
You might have noticed a purple filters item under experience. This is actually they key reason why you'd want to use our GraphQL API as opposed to simply browsing our site: any aggregation provided by the API can be filtered by a number of factors, such as the respondent's gender, company size, salary, or country.
Expand filters and select companySize and then eq and range_more_than_1000. You've just calculated React's popularity among large companies! Select range_1 instead and you can now compare it with the same datapoint among freelancers and independent developers.
It's important to note that GraphQL only defines very low-level primitives, such as fields and arguments, so these eq, in, nin, etc., filters are not part of GraphQL itself, but simply arguments we've defined ourselves when setting up the API. This can be a lot of work at first, but it does give you total control over how clients can query your API.
Conclusion
Hopefully you've seen that querying a GraphQL API isn't that big a deal, especially with awesome tools like GraphiQL to help you do it. Now sure, actually integrating GraphQL data into a real-world app is another matter, but this is mostly due to the complexity of handling data transfers between client and server. The GraphQL part itself is actually quite easy!

I am an entrepreneur from Non-tech background (10+2 in non-science stream ), after running a successful marketing agency for about 5 years we decided to build a SaaS product in the same industry.After the initial ideation phase, the product looked complicated and hiring a developer to join us without fully understanding the tech infra or scope was becoming difficult.I started to explore the tech space and did research on how we could achieve the goal at hand, the more I explored the more I started to like these things.The crazy javascript front-end space with React, Vue Angular wars, the backend scene with Python, Node & Larvel or the databases like Mysql, postgresql, Mongo.Learning about Different APIs, each with their own implementation of how they worked, getting into Rest vs Web-sockets threads etc.It was so fascinating and a very different world from my earlier life which revolved around SEO, SEM, ROI, CPM, CPA, CPC Conversion rates, backlinks & traffic etc.Soon enough, I was spending 6-8 hrs a night to learn more and more and after about 2 months hacked together the first prototype which kinda worked on command line.Half of the code was lifted from GitHub and the other half from Stack-overflow, but somehow it worked :)With that, Now I was in a much better position to hire a full-time programmer and get the product (MVP) built and hired a new CTO.With him onboard, It took us about 2 months to build a presentable MVP, from there we went on to get to $25K MRR in next 6 months.We just recently closed a funding round as well from few of the top investors, if that counts.About the toolWhile the MVP was being built I was working on potential marketing lead magnets which could attract lots of potential customers to our website.Being in the industry for years I knew few of the pain points the industry had and decided to address them by building those tools.This tool allowed users to check if a given domain is available for registration or not, 20,000 domains at a time.Since the CTO was already occupied working on the product, I decided to build it myself and test my newly learned skills in real-world.Here is the technologies I selected for this -​Front-end : Vuejs, Because it was relatively easier to learn than the other front-end frameworks. I could quickly pick a html template and convert it into a Vue project.Backend : Node-Js : Because It sounded easier to learn one language for front-end and backend both.Communication layer : Rest APII built it in few weeks and shared around in our circles for testing, people from the marketing community loved it and soon I had hit scaling issues.With few days of research & testing those issues were fixed.Later I replaced rest API with web-sockets for real-time results & Vuejs with Nuxt for Server-side rendering & SEO.So far It has been used by over 20,000 marketers to check 737 M domains (lots of them checks same domains multiple times).You can see the uses graph here -We now limit uses for non-logged in users and ask them to signup for a free account or free trial, a 7 email series then encourage them to use rest of the product line with a good success rate.My learning from this is :Even if you are a non-tech founder It's a lot easier to build a product or business when you spend time to learn the inner workings of how things works at a micro level.You will have so much more respect for your tech co-founder / CTO when you have a first hand experience of how frustrating fixing even a small bug is. Which ultimately leads to a far better working environment.You will have much better success hiring a CTO or a tech co-founder when you show them the work you have done, it instantly boosts your credibility & capabilities as a founder in a market filled with wannabe billionaires with an idea.Questions ?PS : For those who gets tech, I didn't go into much technical in the post, If you have specific questions feel free to ask in comments.

I’ve been staring at the same chunk of Javascript for nearly an hour. Something is broken, only I can’t find that something. Six months into becoming a semi- self taught coder, I know enough to get myself in trouble, but only sometimes do I know enough to get myself back out again.
  Still, I tell myself, being able to track down a bug some of the time is way better than never. Not so long ago, “never” was all I had. Since then I’ve picked up a few tools: diffchecker.com helps find syntax discrepancies, though my skillz are far enough along that, say, using a semicolon instead of a comma doesn’t much trip me up any more. Now I need the code equivalent, some place I can plug in this irksome dispatch table and find out just why the heck it’s refusing to play nicely with all the code that came before and that USED to work. Oh, wait, that resource does sort of exist, in the form of Stack Overflow.
  What, I muse, will it take to reach the point where I am one of the people providing solutions instead of seeking help? How long does it take to progress from raw boot-camp beginner to reasonably seasoned — and, more importantly, readily employable —  web dev? Most importantly, what is the best route between the two?
  I’ve been at this long enough — and learned just enough — to realize that there is no best route, no well-trodden trail leading from utter n00b to code ninja. And I’m not the only one. There’s a whole world of wanna-be coders out here, newly emerged from some bootcamp or online course promising to make us irresistibly employable with just weeks of work (and a valid credit card). Even tech industry insiders are confused these days — I refer you to Jose Aguinagua’s “How It Feels to Learn Javascript in 2016” much-circulated Hacker Noon essay which generated global howls of “hells yeah!”.
Best I can tell, the whole teaching-self-to-code-to-get-better-job process is like a snake consuming its own tail: you need the skills to get the job. But the best way to learn the skills is by doing the work — only, what work? It goes round and round and round. Once the nice boot camp people have dropped you off at the curb and wished you good luck, it’s time to build something. But what, and how? It feels kinda like being presented with all 5,196 pieces of the Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon and told to get cracking, only with no instruction booklet.
So. The path is made by walking. And I’m doing my best, but my tracks must look like a snake on ice as I slip and slide from supplementary online JS lessons to Wes Bos tutorials to Gordon Zhu’s Practical Javascript to Codewars to starting a Javascript self-study Slack channel support group with some other wanna-be web devs in the same leaky boat. This group is drawn from other recent boot camp grads from the academy where I did my front end course, and in just two months we went from fifteen to three members. Everyone else gave up, at least for now, because this shit is hard. And I totally do not blame them. If I had other options, I too would probably run with those.
But we three hardy study group survivors have the same thing in common: we’ve got no plan B. We are all mid-life professionals transitioning from other careers, some with kids and all with mortgages, and we are going to find success if it kills us. Which some days it feels like it might. The problem is, what’s the best next thing to work on?  Learn React or Angular or Vue, or stick with vanilla JS? There’s a free Ruby on Rails “build an app in a weekend” workshop, is that worth going to just to show flexi skillz? If every time you build a “to do” app a puppy dies, what the hell else should you build? Attempt to build. Somehow. Please god let it work this time.
We are figuring out as we go, comparing notes on versions and editions and compilers and transpilers.  “You Don’t Know JS” vs. “Eloquent Javascript.” The most effective places to learn online, best projects to tackle for our dev portfolios, best meetups around town to go to score free beer while networking with tech types who might be looking for a junior developer. We cheer each other on, help each other figure out code snafus and, most crucially, keep each other accountable.
  We made a pact to meet at a recent Baltimore NodeSchool event to Learn Us Node, only I was the only one who showed. Turns out Asa’s babysitter bailed, and Zac’s boss had called him into work with an “emergency.” (Zac works in marketing. Is there such a thing as a bona fide weekend marketing “emergency”?).  And I will be honest: I struggled with the node tutorial, even though I use node.js all the time. Those four hours felt more like four years. And there wasn’t even any beer.
