Cal Comes Back To Win Sixth Straight

Golden Bears Defeat Saint Mary’s 2-1

BERKELEY– For the third time this season, the California women's soccer team came back from down a goal to win a match. After falling behind in the first half, the Golden Bears scored twice in the second to defeat Saint Mary's 2-1 in their final non-conference contest Thursday night at Edwards Stadium. Cal will enter its first week of ACC action on a six-match win streak and a seven-match unbeaten streak. With its seventh win, Cal (7-1-1) has matched its win total from last season. The Gaels' drop to 2-4-1 after their second straight loss. The Bears outshot the Gaels 7-5 in the first half but could not break through despite several passes at the goal. SMC goalkeeper Kate Plachy earned four of her six total saves in the first period to keep Cal off the board. Gaels forward Briana Salvetti gave her team a 1-0 half-time lead scoring a penalty kick in the 40th minute. In the 64th minute Cal's offensive pressure finally paid off as the nation's leading goal scorer Karlie Lema wreaked havoc on the Saint Mary's back line and forced an own goal to tie the match at one apiece. After having a goal called back from a video review in the first half, senior Noelle Bond-Flasza earned her first goal of the season in the 71st minute. Graduate-transfer Julia Leontini dribbled to the beginning of the penalty area and flicked a ball over the Gaels back line to Lema, who headed the ball directly to Bond-Flasza. The Bear's forward wasted no time and fired in the game-winner with her right foot. Graduate-transfer Kelly McManus picked up the win and a pair of saves. Cal has the rest of the week off to prepare for its first ACC contest next Thursday at NC State at 4 p.m. PT.

was having a conversation the other day about free will in the stanley parable, and between that & rereading the malo jake necro post (& betweengenesisfrog's response) i'd like for this next astronaut ramble to be a look into the ways that homestuck treats the ideas of agency & free will, both in a meta sense (vriska constantly hogging the spotlight) & a social dynamics sense (jake & patriarchy). TW for vague references to questionable kinks & the effects of extreme patriarchy on women under the cut.

ok, so the idea of free will in the context of video games is interesting since by nature most video games (if not all, depending on how you define what a "video game" even is) involve a pretty clear goal/set of goals and some sort of process intended to get you there. as such, in video games you can kinda categorize two different kinds of free will: free will where you have (full/partial) control over the means, the process by which you get to the end, & free will where you have (full/partial) control over the ends, or the ultimate goal/end state.

for example: TSP mostly allows you free will over the end goal through your decisions, but once you get on a path it's not really possible to change the code the developers originally wrote. you can veer off track towards a different ending, but you can't change the process of getting there by nature of how the game functions. in contrast, deltarune (at least from what we can tell w/ 2 chapters) does kind of the opposite of this, giving players free will over the process (do you encourage noelle, or viciously control her?) but promising that the ultimate end state is going to be the same no matter what. thus, "your decisions don't matter," in terms of what ending you'll get, but the process by which you get there is certainly going to change, at least if ch.2 is setting a trend for the rest of the game.

this doesn't apply super cleanly to real life, however, where it's a lot less clear what should be considered an end state or process. it's also very individualistic, focused entirely on the impact of the player's decisions, where in real life you have to deal w/ the choices of everyone else too. i'm thus inclined to call the social dynamics/less theoretical side of free will "agency," & agency is super important when talking about the ways that any piece of media deals with patriarchy. my video game example here is analog: a hate story, since that game delves straight into the ways in which women are forced to negotiate w/ a social structure that frankly fails to even recognize them as people, much less beings with agency (a society which translated "sick daughter" as "pale bride," if you don't get the picture. highly recommend playing analog btw).

homestuck, w/ all of its video game logic & (attempts at) social reflection, deals w/ both of these sides to agency & free will. i believe optimistic duelist already has a lot of good explanations of how hs deals with the latter, particularly w/ the light aspect/vriska stealing the spotlight, as well as how free will in paradox space is based on the idea that every individual will ultimately achieve their goals no matter what, so i won't repeat all of that here. really, it's the social dynamics side of agency that interests me here, particularly for the characters rose, dirk, & especially jake. but before that:

homestuck is fundamentally a queer comic. not only does it spin on an axis of gay teenage drama, lord english himself as the ultimate villain of homestuck can be read as representing patriarchy itself, which is particularly obvious when observing the arcs of the striders (pre-scratch) and dirk & jake (post-scratch) and how they are negatively influenced by lil cal & caliborn respectively. interestingly, since hs takes on a script of flipped gender stereotypes wherein many of its female characters are active agents in the plot while the male characters are more likely to deal w/ the story's emotional core (mean girls & fluffy boys, as deltarune likes to say), you can generally see the influence of patriarchy much stronger in the cast's male characters, and there is no one for which this is more true than jake.

so, getting back to my original motivation for writing this post: as i stated in the tags here, i think it's notable that jake's fascination w/ blue women ultimately does not work out in the slightest in his real life relationships, specifically because of the ways in which said blue women take away his agency, as demonstrated in both the game over timeline & a lot of the post-canon content that shows more of jake's relationship w/ jane. to break shit up a bit here:

jake, jane, & jender

for all his stated interest in "blue women," & the posters all over his room, jake really doesn't have a good track record w/ homestuck's actual blue women. jane & aranea are the obvious candidates here, but jake's parallels to tavros (through the lying down beaten up visual, page title, etc.) also shed some light on his potential connection to vriska (who, imo, is basically the ultimate standard of hs girls w/in that flipped script i mentioned earlier, similar to how jake is the ultimate homestuck boy).

to summarize: not only does jake manipulate jane into friendzoning herself (in the best conversation of the entire comic), aranea & jane are the two most prominent characters that tear jake a new asshole in the game over timeline, specifically in that they completely take away his agency by treating him in the stereotypical way that women are in media. as these posts so beautifully outline, not only is the gender script flipped for jane & jake, it's flipped specifically in their relationship to control & how others view them; in some ways, they still adhere quite strongly to their traditional respective feminine & masculine gender roles, with the whole 50s housewife vibe jane gives off & jake's gentleman schtick.

it's thus not a massive jump to me to see jake's interest in blue women as just another fantasy that he holds onto while still isolated from the rest of humanity, but ultimately doesn't play out the way that he wants it to in reality, something that fits very well into jake's established use of escapist fantasies. jake's fantasizing about a relationship w/ jane can potentially be read as nothing more than compulsive heterosexuality (GT: I consider you [jane] to be a lovely lady of the highest caliber and i really think any gent worth his salt would be a huge bozo to let the chance to go steady with you slip through his fingers. A6A2:4588), & jake's interest in aranea is largely limited to his initial reactions to seeing her.

while this style of image is used to show light romantic interest, the fact that jake's heart uses a ? rather than a 3 even to start makes it clear to me that his initial interest in aranea is quite superficial & questionable even to him. (A6A2:4584)

to clarify, this isn't really meant as an argument for or against the jake necrophilia debate from that post, but just pointing out that his interest in blue women is largely another superficial fantasy, & one that in the end actively works against him once his agency is forcibly taken away from him during the game over timeline.

also, sidenote: the parallels between the game over timeline (& thus terezi's initial killing of vriska) & the epilogue's decision between meat & candy is also striking w/ regards to how homestuck deals w/ the idea of free will, particularly in how it's implied that in the end, the initial decision doesn't work either way. here's some quotes from the very end of hs^2 to clarify that connection since i've mentioned it quite often (HS^2:406):

CALLIOPE: bUt, paradoxically, the critical moment which determined its capture within the black hole happened *after* that point. CALLIOPE: i refer of coUrse to yoUr decision not to retUrn to the mediUm and fight my brother. JOHN: wait, wait. JOHN: you mean, the meat and candy thing? JOHN: oh my god. JOHN: you mean i actually DID make a mistake that day.

ROXY: your choice literally didnt matter ROXY: the whole thing was symbolic in the first place ROXY: literally symbolic in the case of the picnic i mean come on ROXY: it was just some steak and a plate of candy suckers

CALLIOPE: i mean, i wouldn't go so far as to say that the meal we shared was unimportant, given the sacred significance of the two options i presented. CALLIOPE: but yes, yoUr choice of snack was infinitely less important than the choice which it presaged. CALLIOPE: and even then, calling it a choice woUld be sorely misleading. CALLIOPE: think of it like a coin flip. CALLIOPE: the series of events that led to Us being trapped beyond the event horizon of an Ubermassive black hole could be considered "tails", while the events which would have occUrred otherwise could be considered "heads". CALLIOPE: since both were possible, and paradox space is the way it is, they actUally both happened. and we jUst "happened" (hee hee) to get tails instead of heads. JOHN: you mean we ended up with the bad possibility. CALLIOPE: not at all! since both possibilities depend on one another's existence, it really doesn't make sense to call them "right" or "wrong". they both just "are".

2. corpses & agency

in rereading the jane friendzone conversation, one particular line from jake stood out to me again:

GT: I know its hard to believe but i know dirk pretty well and... GT: Well im more than a little sure he likes me in that way if you catch my drift. GT: And what with how he is... GT: Just so relentless and aggressive about everything you know? GG: Yeaaah. GT: So i just start to wonder deep down if maybe its inevitable.

usually i read these lines from the perspective of dirk's insecurities about feeling predatory in his relationship w/ jake, but this line from malo has made me rethink it from jake's pov:

I think you are correct that Jake has a “theme of irresponsibility”, but part of that motif is in the way he acts as a living Burnie Lomax -- Jake pretends to be a corpse puppet, emphasizing the interests of others as a way to downplay his own interests, passively achieving his desires. This is true even in Jake’s apparent resistance to Dirk’s advances!

which. honestly complicates things even more lmfao, though i suppose it all fits into the idea of jake fitting the stereotypical role of a woman, negotiating for his agency by manipulating others since he feels like he can't say what he wants outright. his motivation might be more along the lines of social anxiety, but it still fits how women are often socialized to be less direct about their desires (i don't have a link for this, but recommend the paper social influence & gender by linda carli for a formal approach to this idea, if you can get your hands on it). i suppose the conclusion here is that jake does in fact want agency, he just doesn't want the responsibility that comes with it. roxy does make this joke after all (A6A5A1x2:5812):

GT: You almost scooped my boyfriend out from under me in one fell proposal. TG: oh DID i TG: from under u eh? ;) GT: Wait. No i mean... TG: ;););););) wonks 4 eternity GT: WHOA NOW WAIT A MINUTE!

(though of course, the real real conclusion here is that bones of black marrow has the best interpretation/implementation of this idea.)

3. puppets & dirk (ft. tentacles & rose)

ANYWAY. while it's slightly different, i do think there are some potential parallels between jake, dirk, & rose's respective relationships to a lack of control, particularly in a fetishistic context. rose's tentacle thing, dirk's puppet thing, jake's dead thing(s). homestuck's a lovely comic when you start looking past the surface.

to be honest, i don't have a ton of conclusions to draw here, mostly just noting more of the connections. i think i mentioned elsewhere the connection between dirk & rose as following the convention of the human kids matching their chumhandle-initials counterparts the most closely, but jake & rose have a lot of weird parallels that i'm not sure how to make sense of. just to list a few: they both have a connection to the creation of the first guardians through writing the MEOW & BARK codes, their theme songs on the LOCAM album link them through the horrorterrors (rose's song is "orchid horror" & jake's is "emerald terror," also linking them through their shirt symbols), & their connection to dirk feels particularly notable w/ regards to the events of post-canon stuff.

they also can be considered the most intelligent out of their respective groups of human kids, rose due to her status as seer of light & jake due to sheer subconscious will, meaning that they are on par w/ the other omniscient/semi-omniscient narrators that homestuck loves making its villains. more specifically, i guess that means they're both aware to some degree about the nature of the world of homestuck itself, which is often the most important kind of intelligence in homestuck (it's what light basically comes down to, right?) since it's so goddamn meta all the time. (you could also make the connection there w/ dirk a little bit, since he's got that connection to plato & plato loooves talking about how philosophers are the most intelligent people ever because they are aware of the Forms, as seen in his metaphysics from books V-VII of the republic. can you tell i'm getting sick of reading the republic by now lmfao.) so, yeah.

Holidays are turning out to be something of a special time for me. On Halloween I got pregnant, and now that we're heading for Christmas - who knows?

Famous Animators that did NOT attend CalArts

CalArts is the top animation school in the world. Most well known animators attended the school and created famous movies and TV shows. I personally applied there and got rejected, and I hope to reapply and get accepted one day, even though it is super expensive. I basically made this post to cope with the fact that I am not going there.

1. Ben Bocquelet (creator of The Amazing World of Gumball)

Attended École des Métiers du Cinéma d'Animation, a French college in their animation program. So stop saying Gumball has the “CalArts style”.

2. Dan Povenmire (created Phineas and Ferb)

He studied at University of Southern California, a leading school in film and animation.

3. Dana Terrace (Created The Owl House)

Dana Terrace attended School of Visual Arts in New York.

4. Domee Shi (Created Turning Red)

She attended Sheridan College for animation.

5. Maxwell Atoms (Creator of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy)

It is believed that he was rejected from CalArts but he attended University of the Arts in Pennsylvania.

6. Noelle Stevenson (Created She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)

FACTS ABOUT JACKIE:

1. The name Jacqueline means, “May God Protect,” and is from French origin.

2. Growing up, she’s maintained a very close bond with her sister, Maddy considering that they are only a few months apart. Maddy often cites Jackie as her “mini me,” considering of their striking similarities.

3. Despite the fact that like her sister, she is very popular among her peers, she isn’t quite how others assume her to be. In fact, Jackie is very kind to those who she cares strongly for and isn’t shallow by any means despite what others may say.

4. It’s very clear that Jackie holds a strong hatred towards Nate with taking into consideration his abusive behavior towards her sister, she believes that Maddy can find (and will eventually do so) someone better that is more suited to her.

5. Despite how badly she wanted to deny this, Jackie knew that the various fallouts throughout their relationship wasn’t entirely Rue and her substance abuse issues fault but rather both as Jackie suffered with commitment issues.

6. Jackie tends to withhold a very energetic and life of the party personality which with this personality trait, everyone enjoys amongst other traits. Another trait however, is her flirtatiousness, mainly, the only person who hates this trait of hers is on-again, off-again girlfriend, Rue especially at times when they are broken up as she gets jealous seeing her flirting and moving on with someone else.

7. Rue believes that she and Jackie are soulmates. She has also told her, personally a few times. Considering, she’s very in love with Jackie and has been since their friendship turned into a romantic relationship.

8. Despite their tumultuous relationship, Jackie and Rue have remained close friends throughout it. In fact, at times in need of comfort, Rue would call Jackie for them to talk as Rue sees Jackie as among the ones who had loved her regardless of her flaws, has always tried to help her and only wanted the best for her like others such as Leslie and Gia.

9. Jackie is the type of person who likes to keep her feelings, emotions and any further heartache bottled up and likes to pretend like a particular heartache didn’t affect her as badly as it did as she doesn’t see herself being very vulnerable.

10. Both Leslie, Robert, Gia and Ali love Jackie and approve of the relationship she and Rue share. They view Jackie as a very kind person and someone who is a very strong influence on Rue especially since she’s always been there for Rue despite the highs and lows in their relationship.

11. Although she identifies as bisexual, Jackie mentioned that it doesn’t matter when it comes to gender regarding a relationship whether romantic or sexual as she likes a person based on their personality and interests rather than their gender identity.

13. In spite of her popularity as well as life of the party personality, Jackie doesn’t see herself as much of a partygoer like her older sister, Maddy. In fact, most times, she attends the parties in both, Maddy, her friends and Rue’s convincing.

14. Despite the kindness to only those she cares truly for, Jackie also tends to withhold a very dominant personality and is often seen as intimidating, she is also someone who typically wears the pants in her romantic relationships.

Ashe manages to weave between the students crowing the hallway, careful not to drop her Starbucks.

Traffic during their usual speedy morning commute had other plans. She exits her mom's Buewick, her mother offering good wishes and for her to be safe and sound. As she enters the double doors August was nowhere to be found. Very much like him to try and kill time just to avoid her so she couldn't rock his shit.

Thought she was sure the last thing he needed was her to chew him out for teasing her and being late. An email was sent school-wide yesterday for students and faculty to report to the Gymnasium. Yellow and navy blue banners from past sports achievements covered the walls. Students flud in, their respective cliques sitting together. Award-winning sports team trophies and medals are on display inside a huge case just before they enter.

Past the bright florescent lights, there, upon the bleachers was Noelle and Sinclair. Brendan and Cal sitting beside them. Still no sign of August. Walking the steps of the bleachers Sinclair yanks Ashe down onto into space beside her.

"Took you long enough," Noelle yawns, the other students settling down. "I was about to call you."

Ashe rests her bookbag between her legs looking around for August.

"Sorry traffic wasn't exactly the greatest."

"Must've been great enough if you were able to get yourself a drink." Sinclair chimes, eyeing her Pink Drink.

Principal Doushaw and Vice-Principal Theodosia stood before them with microphones in hand. The other teachers stood around them patiently.

"Good morning students of Viewridge High. I am proud to announce that all senior activities will be up and running as planned."

Principal Doushaw's voice echoes loudly, earning applause.

"So please put your best foot forward and make it count as these few months pass. You're our graduating class and we all want you to make your mark on the future through us."

Cal chuckled leaning back into Ashe's lap, letting her pet his hair. Brendan fiddled with the wheels on his skateboard while Noelle somehow dozed off hunched over her bookbag. Sinclair was reapplying her lip gloss listening attentively.

"We know how hard you seniors have worked and how far you've come from being an incoming freshman. But let's save the tears for graduation shall we?"

He joked. Or at least tried to.

"But from the bottom of our hearts, I'm extremely proud of you all. Mrs. Theodosia has words for you all as well."

Vice Principal Theodosia raised her mic to her lips, taking Principal Doushaw's place.

"I hope you all are having a pleasant morning. Today is the start of a new year. Or to some of you, a means to an end. Whichever it may be, I want you all to know that you deserve what lies ahead and many more."

More applause and cheers come from the students. Ashe's phone vibrates to reveal August outside the school. The front doors were locked so he had to go around back. The only problem was, the door opens from the inside.

'Fuckin' idiot...' She thought to herself muting his call and texting him back.

Cal caught wind of it before Ashe could say anything.

"He's stuck outside isn't he?" Ashe nods.

"You gotta go get him?" He asks tilting his head back to look at her.

Ashe nods again.

"Fucking idiot." Brendan snickers, overhearing their conversation.

VP Theodosia continued.

"This Friday we will be hosting a pep rally and will be opening up club submissions. Next to sports tryouts for this year will be open as well as cheer sign up and student government voting will soon also be open in the coming weeks. You're all dismissed."

Sinclair shakes Noelle awake, making sure not to draw attention to Ashe as she slugs her tote bag over her shoulder, Cal following behind. Grades nine through twelve floods the halls providing an opportunity to let August inside.

Brendan and Noelle wait as their lookouts while Ashe and Cal found the spear-hidden key in the janitor's closet.

Sinclair was distracting any adults that could come their way.

Cal gets the door open, August slipping inside wearily eyeing Ashe knowing damn well what he's in for. She folds her arms leaning up at him with flared nostrils.

"We'll..uh...leave you two alone."

Cal snickers, hanging up the key and running off. The rest of the gang following suit.

"Good luck dipshit!" Brendan chimes, skating away on his board.

True to form August was trying to talk himself out of a beat down but to no avail. Ashe yanks his ear down to her level, walking him down the hall like a dog on a leash. He yelping as a result.

"Oww, oww, oww, Ashe p-please! I was only joking! Let go, let go!"

"You stay pissin' me off huh? Keep it up and your gonna need Braille to read the real ass-whooping you're about to get do I make me clear August Qhole Emiliano?"

August knows whenever his full government is addressed, she's not playing around. He nods, grimacing.

"Crystal. Crystal clear, now could you please let go?"

She does so, walking ahead of him in a huff.

"Now c'mon. We're late for History."

▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

During classes, everything was normal. Noelle sneaking off to smoke, Sinclair chatting it up with the popular kids, Cal staying in the music room to practice, Brendan trying out new skate tricks in the schoolyard, and August buying Ashe lunch to make up for this morning.

It didn't take long for August to the cave. A Venti Pink Drink with Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam paired with a Caprese Panini waiting to be hand-delivered as he waited at her locker. Students stopped to berate her with questions as expected. How'd she find the body? How'd she felt when the cops showed up? And so on. Like these questions weren't already asked by her mother the night before.

Sure, her reaction came as odd compared to most but there was nothing to it. Death was inevitable. Before long she and her band of misfits were sitting in English listening to their teacher ramble on about Shakespeare. Her nose in an e-book on the school-provided IPad.

"But enough about that. Let's bring a new narrative to the forefront. How about horror?"

Mx. Espen asked the class. "How would you define horror?"

Cal and Sinclair roll their eyes knowing the beast of a chatterbox August becomes once he's asked something like this. Noelle was asleep behind her textbook, an often spot their teacher finds her in.

"By textbook definition, horror is a fictional genre intended to frighten, scare, and disgust its readers or viewers," August started leaning back in his chair.

Mx. Espen smiled egging him further. "Yes, correct by definition. But what other elements are needed to truly give a horror movie its edge?"

Sinclair jumps in listing them off on her fingers. "Characters, fear of the unknown, emotions, storyline, and a killer ending. Right?"

Mx. Espen agrees walking back to the chalkboard. Grains to yellow chalk fall at their feet as they wrote. "Correct Ms. Lucyana. There should a sense of dread. A sense of unease. A sense of -"

"A sense of anxiety. Foreboding." Ashe speaks up taking out her headphones.

"But the genre is run into the ground with all these remakes and continuations. It's all pointless cash grabs at this point."

"That's one way to put it, Debby Downer." Cal snickers, Brendan holding back a laugh. Mx. Espen stands intrigued.

"I mean, look. The worst that could happen to a horror movie franchise is when it gets turned into a badly written show."

Ashe rests her cheek in her palm looking out the window.

The rest of the class sits in bewilderment. August taking control of the discussions' direction again.

"Ashe is right. You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series. They're too quick to be stretched out. Twenty to twenty-five minutes won't do justice for something worth ninety minutes."

Her phone notification pings are lowly in her pocket. Her post on Twitter getting alike from an unmarked profile. Must be Stranger.

Cal tries to peek over but Ashe lays her phone between her thighs before he could get a good look.

"What's with that smile tomboy?" He asks folding his arms leaning back in his seat.

She knows just how nosey he can be, sticking her tongue out at him.

"Nothing out of the ordinary."

School ends without a hitch. Returning students and newbies swap goodbyes in the parking lot. Cal opting to carpool for the group as an excuse to show off his new car. Noelle was passed out in the passenger's seat while Sinclair and Brendan sat next to each other. Ashe slouching back against August in his lap.

Ashe is a car baby so she already drifts off midway through the car ride. It wasn't long before Ashe is the first drop-off.

Groggy, she opens her front door, locking it. She double-checked the windows and closes her bathroom door to shower. Her mother wasn't home again. Probably examining that dead guy's corpse. Too bad she couldn't be there to take notes. Y'know? Learn something.

She still wonders how he knew about him in the first place and how he knew where she was to keep her safe. But she wasn't complaining. Though, she doesn't want to ignore either possibility that she could get her killed or be saved from a greater danger.

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear."

Ashe chuckled drying her face and pulling on her pajamas. Her phone notification pings, Stranger's number across the screen.

She lays in bed, cuddling a golden bear. Stars on its cheeks, clouds on its ears, and a bright sun on its' tummy. Kinda too old for it but it holds a special place. When he was around up till now. Ashe types away, texting her mom first then opening his messages. What may come of them? Of this?

California Routs USF 6-1

5 Different Bears Find the Net

SAN FRANCISCO – Five different Golden Bears scored in the California women's soccer team's 6-1 win over San Francisco Sunday night. With its first road win of the season Cal improves to 2-1-1. They appear to to have shaken off a hard-fought 2-1 loss at #10 Santa Clara and a 1-1 grudge match tie at Gonzaga with two impressive victories. They will also be happy to head home for five games after four on the road. It was an offensive showcase for the Bears, who after getting on the board via a USF own goal in the 8th minute, scored five more times. They finished the contest with 11 total shots, seven of which landed on frame for a .636 shot on goal percentage. In the 21st minute, Noelle Bond-Flazsa played a beautiful ball into the box for Alex Klos who headed it in for her first goal as a Bear. Karlie Lema then made it a 3-0 contest in the 31st with her fourth goal of the season. Lema split a pair of Don defenders and found herself with open grass before firing it into the top right corner of the net.

San Francisco got on the board to start the second half with an impressive free-kick goal from Olivia Lukrofka in the 53rd minute. To close out the night the Bears scored three goals off of three different boots in a 14-minute span. Velize King was first, scoring for the first time this season with an assist from Lema in the 68th minute. Next was Julia Leontini in the 81st who scored her first goal as a Bear on a missile from way beyond the 18-yard box. Just 20 seconds later Alexis Wright scored for the second time in as many matches with an assist from King.

Kelly McManus had three saves in her second career win. She played the first 84 minutes before being replaced by Maddie Gambs who made her collegiate debut and closed out the match between the posts.
