How it works: the backpack holds a book bent open to a specific page, the comparator built into the top converts that to the specified strength of redstone signal, and the pauldron just helps keep that redstone in contact with the line of amethyst running through his head.

The redstone basically attunes the sensor to a specific category of sound, so he just has to pick a category that he doesn’t hear often and he’ll click a lot less. If he takes the backpack off, he functions like a normal sculk sensor again. Probably would want to take breaks anyway since like.... IT IS RUNNING A REDSTONE SIGNAL THRU HIS HEAD... but still a big relief to be able to dull the sensor's reactions.

Today is day 4 of having a malfunctioning smoke detector. I reported the issue again, but maintenance said they won’t be taking care of it until Monday since they don’t consider it an emergency. And considering how the person who came in to look at it yesterday did the absolute bare minimum to try and fix it and proceeded to just leave when his minimal effort didn’t work, I’m not exactly hopeful that they’ll fix it tomorrow. I could kill someone

Achievement Unlocked: for the first time in my entire life, I successfully remembered that it has been about a year since changing the batteries in a smoke detector, and pre-emptively bought batteries.  They just started going off, and I was fully prepared.

Nothing angers me quite like the smoke detector in the empty room in my apartment going off. And it *is* the smoke alarm not the CO alarm. Like my guy, this is an empty room w the door shut and the window closed, nothing in there since my roommate moved out. Absolutely fuck off you stupid bitch.
