actually gonna write a short scene for this one.
jaune didn't hate huntsmen, in fact he had a lot of respect for people willing to fight against grimm and criminals for what seemed like minor rewards.
he just wished they'd stop involving him in their bullshit.
HE DOESN'T WANT TO FIGHT DAMN IT!
build under the cut, the actual short story will be posted later
Murderous Brawler: (400) "Surrounded by a dozen ships of the line, hundreds of pirates pouring onto your flagship, your crew dying in droves around you? You’ve never felt the blood pump harder in your ears nor moved with such lethal speed. They think they’re going to easily win but they don’t yet realise that the worse off you are, the deadlier you become.
Already, you’ve been made one of the most dangerous men or women on the seven seas with a blade or gun or both. Firing through a captain’s eye from half a mile away in the middle of a ship battle as a hurricane rages above? You barely had to aim.
Ten expert duelists surrounding you from all angles, as you wield naught but a short sword? They’ll be mewling on the ground, clutching fatal wounds in less than a minute!
The chaos of battle only benefits you, hardly hindering your awareness of your surroundings and revealing to you all the ways to take advantage.
Makeshift weapons leap out to your sight, the crush of crowded bodies limiting only your opponents agility and errant fire from surrounding battles is easy to misdirect into your enemy.
Most potent of all, you find yourself moving with greater power, speed and skill the worse the battle is going for your side. The greater you are disavantaged, the more damaging your own returning fire.
Both you and the ship you command find this benefit, allowing you to tear your way through overwhelming odds and escape, or even manage to win battles that by all rights you should have died miserably in.
A cornered pirate is no different than a cornered rat, they’re just at their nastiest and most violent point. "
Lord of War: (600) "In the end there is always one rule that holds true in worlds such as these might makes right.
Regardless of your position or talents, power in the end is the deciding factor when dealing with conflicts here.
This perk won’t increase your cultivation, but it will make you a true lord of war. You possess truly frightening combat prowess. Even if you only possessed an average technique you would easily be capable of fighting off and killing multiple beings a level higher than you.
Should you actually have the techniques and cultivation to back up your wrath then few if any in this world could stand against you in combat."
in this au jaune's semblance manifests as an uncanny ability to always win any fight he gets into. but he never notices. murderous brawler shifts the odds in his favor making him a match or even better than the dangers put against him, but it's his lord of war mixed with it that puts him well over the top of any enemy he faces all while staying within human bounds. to outside observers it looks like he's just that skilled in combat, but to jaune it's all bullshit luck and adrenaline.
jaune became a sailor after he left home, not wanting to deal with the dangers of being a huntsman sailing the world and getting some experience under his belt he returned to vale to visit family and maybe catch the vital festival in a few months. but his exploration of the big city ends with him wandering into a bar fight with yang and ruby's fight with roman. in both he aquits himself well in the eyes of the girls but jaune was mainly just scared out of his mind and trying to hit the guys so they stop trying to shoot him.
to the girls it looks like this veteran sailor is just calmly taking down enemies without effort. to jaune it's bullshit situations he's being dragged into without his consent that he's only just barely able to survive via bullshit luck. and he knows it can't last.
think caiaphis cain, or jackie chan. and as he keeps getting drawn into these situations he keeps winding up against more and more dangerous foes and no one belives him when he tells them he doesn't have aura or magic or anything like that!
he just wants to go back to the sea, things made sense there.
@heliosthegriffin @howlingday @weatherman667
this build can be used for any character obviously. or any setting. the only rule is that they have to have imposter syndrome about it.
so who will you have suffer from success? what character do you think would be fun to write an action comedy story about? and how would their existence effect the universe?

For a story what if shortly after meeting Ruby's Grimm summer and her brother find out about their dads ability to turn into a beowolf... And now summer can't help but wonder if there's a reason Ruby called the Grimm her babies.
Rowan/Summer: YOU CAN TURN INTO A BEOWOLF!
Jaune: Yeah. It used to happen to me all the time after I turned 18 and every night I wasn’t asleep I would turn into a Beowolf.
Rowan: What was it like?
Jaune: Well it’s hard to describe, I barely felt anything. Like I didn’t have any control over my thoughts and reason. Normally I’d act on instinct.
Ruby: Yeah, his normal instincts would be to have me look for him in the dead of night, capture me and then never let me go throughout the whole night. Which happened much too often, isn’t that right my husband?
Summer: So how did you learn to take your Beowulf form?
Jaune: I didn’t actually, it was your mother here that figured out a way to tame the beast.
Ruby: Yep. Ruby Rose-Arc, Huntress, Grimm-Tamer, Super-Cool Mom extraordinaire!
Rowan: So when did you find these guys? *points back to the Grimm making a mess of the Kitchen*
Ruby: Oh my other babies were not hard to tame at all. They were my pride and joy during my Beacon Years... er, besides you two of course! Mommy loves you two very much! *goes to hug both her children*
Summer: Babies... *looks back behind them to see the Grimm*
Eric: Whatcha lookin’ ya toots!
Summer: ....eep! (‘NO! Bad Summer! Bad Thoughts!’)
@noneatnonedotcom took me a minute to get this one done but I hope you enjoy it!

OP jaune but with a twist
pretty simple idea here, jaune was born at the same time the entire debacal with salem and the brothers was going down. having been the rusted knight he was technically a god. and protected the people of remnant from the brothers via the use of his sacred relics from the ever after. now every couple of generations a new Jaune is born into the world with no skills or knowledge but with the sacred relics to help deal with whatever bullshit the brothers are throwing at humanity this time. i.e jaune is an avatar of his more divine rusted knight self.
build under the cut
All The King’s Horses: (100CP) A godly being like you deserves a godly steed to travel, and while you may possess an Authority to do so already, another item may prove useful in some cases. For that, this legendary mount is yours to use. Able to break the speed of sound easily while protecting all passengers and possessing a small but effective amount of firepower to defend you when you need it. The exact aesthetic depends on you, maybe you want a flying horse or a small dragon or a vimana. Regardless, the specs will be the same. just as the rusted knight incarnates in remnant every once in a while so too does juniper his faithful steed. recent worship and legend paints it as a white horse so it will apear that way but the classic giant jackalope is also an option.
Fairy Weapon: (400CP) All of the Knights of the Round have their own special weapon. A magical sword, a enchanted bow, a special shield. These weapons are often crafted by the hands of the fairies themselves, creating immensely powerful weapons for the greatest protectors of Britain. Now you too have a legendary weapon in your hands, on the same level as things like Excalibur Galatine, Arondight or Lord Camelot. You might choose an enchanted sword that can unleash gigantic blasts of energy at will or a bow that fires a dozen shots for every single one you loose or even a flail that can command the wind as it slams into your foes. You could even have a magical prosthetic arm that unleashes blades and blasts of light on command."
crocea mors, a sword that can become a lance, it glows golden and increases all paramiters of the wielder to godlike proportions. (by two letter grades so if a E rank is 10 times peak human a normal human would be up to D rank which is 20.) including charisma and resistance to reality warping. (luck) it is also unbreakable.
Avalon: (400CP) "The legendary sheath of Excalibur, a copy of which now rests at your hip, though no one finds it strange that it does so. This sheath is an incredibly valuable artefact, as it bestows powerful regenerative abilities on you while at your side, allowing you to heal from almost any wound in minutes at most. Even if most of your body was vaporised, as long as your brain and a fair amount of the flesh and bone connected to it remained, you could restore yourself to normal in five minutes of healing. Avalon cannot heal brain wounds and you will die if it is destroyed, though the item also struggles to handle cursed wounds. Though it drains your energy, you can also activate the special power of the sheath, which will place you in the world of Avalon while you maintain it. While here, it is almost impossible to reach you and even dimension crossing effects will only work from insanely powerful users. Effectively, it lets you dodge away out of almost any effect in an instant. Notably, Avalon as a sheath will resize to fit any sword you wish to put into it."
Avalon representing the afterlife the rusted knight has made for humanity in the ever after to be with their families and loved ones. that being said eventually everyone sees the tree and reincarnates.
Battle Garments: (100CP) Having to battle creatures from myth and legend as your job is no excuse to not look fashionable while doing so. This is a set of clothes that fit you perfectly, are fashionable, flexible, self-repairing and strong as enchanted steel armor. Because if you’re going to kick ass, then do it in style.
sometimes appearing as actual armor sometimes as simple clothes the avatar of the rusted knight relies on his armor for much of his defense.
one thing of note, this jaune does not have ANY skill with the items he has with him. they tend to carry him through most of his battles early on. he always needs to be trained by the heroes of the current generation. so when jaune meets ruby rose on her way to exterminate some grimm she finds a very uncordinated man in a really nice pair of jeans and a hoodie with a bunny on it. just doing his best here.
being mortal is tough man.
basically he's the god of heroes on earth but he has no idea what he's doing. since he's got no powers he can work anywhere but this was just an excuse to show off stained glass jaune arc @weatherman667 @howlingday thoughts on the art?

elaborating on the Highschool DXD/rwby idea me and weatherman came up with.
we're probably gonna have to start the story well before cannon, just because with the abilities of warlord jaune being natural to him I doubt he'd be an unknown for long.
so jaune's gonna be 12, along with most of the rwby cast living in America. ruby is 10
first up jaune, jaune arc is not at all related to joan of arc in fact his family has no heroic ancestry at least on a mythical level. his ancestors have been soldiers in the united states since the revolution. his powers quite literally come out of nowhere. when jaune realizes that he has spidersense and instant mastery of anyweapon he picks up as well as making the weapon glow white and gold and be way stronger he decides to become a superhero. unknowingly starting a one man war with the devils and fallen in North America. his family is not Christian and holds no gods instead the follow the ancient Celtic tradition that the cycle of reincarnation is an endless battle to prove honor and conquer everything you can before you die so you can do It all again in the next life.
ozpin: ozpin is a wizard who was obsessed with reincarnation and uncovering the mysteries of it. as a result of his experiments he made it that every time he died he would wake up in the body of a new born no memory lost, he does have to deal with growing up every time though. his current body is named oscar and while young his magical know how makes him pretty much the defacto leader of the American mystical defense league. he lives in Canada.
salem: an ancient princess who sought eternal youth, she succeeded and lives semi happily in the north American wilderness occasionally offering magical aid to those who find her. she's got a soft spot for romance as she grew up on ideals of courtly love. she's exceptionally knowledgeable but is enjoying her retirement from mystical bullshit.
summer rose: servent to salem she was the main protector of north America for a long time. she has a unique mutation that hinders magic connected to her silver eyes. intense emotions cause her eyes to flash removing all magic in her sight. with an enchanted axe she's quite capable of handling most threats in north America since the place is pretty dead magically speaking. easily able to take on low class devils and strays she worked with her team to take on the forces of darkness. her day job is a school teacher for a private school run by salem.
tai-yang xiao-long: a user of senjutsu his mastery is at a pretty low level, still more than enough to keep his friends safe his day job is a martial arts instructor.
qrow branwren: the scar qrow himself. qrow got a job working for the feds as he got older being sent out to investigate strange occurrences for the department of mystic investigation or the DMI as the only one who actually gets paid for looking into this bullshit his friends make him foot the bill for travel most of the time. he doesn't mind too much since he lives with tai and summer. taught by ozpin in his last life qrow's a pretty average mage. still more than enough to handle the threats he gets put up against. now if only he knew why those fallen assholes had such an interest in him.
raven branwren: currently working as muscle for whatever criminal will hire her raven is most well known for her enchanted katana that she stole and will never give back. it enhances her physical abilities and she's the main villain jaune faces as he tries to be a super hero. she's well aware she's not that strong in the grand scheme of things but she's got a talent for getting jaune riled up to fight and then leaving her enemies to deal with him, kid's too easy.
ruby rose: ten year old daughter of summer rose and inheritor of her eyes ruby was born with the sacred gear petal burst which being a dryad allows her to turn herself into rose petals and move at extremely high speeds. she prefers her magic shooting laser gun. but she can summon a rose themed scythe when in melee combat. she doesn't need to make it a scythe but she's a little edge lord.
weiss schnee: daughter of a wealthy buisness magnate weiss was obsessed with the occult secretly she wants to be a magical girl. her studies allowed her to buy a magical rapier that increased her abilities in combat. she's also a pretty good hand at magic though she'll need to be better to fight the forces of evil with love! she is also from the great white north.
blake belladona: nekomata who's parents are first generation immigrants to the united states, they came here for work and fell in love with the country. blake is a huge weeb and wants to be a ninja. she's currently studying senjutsu to better aid that goal. she will go out of her way to make mysterious entrances and exits. she has a ninjato her parents got for her that has been mystically enchanted to be able to cut anything.
yang xiao-long: daughter of tai-yang she also studies senjutsu but has a much greater talent for it. already well on her way to mastery she also has a sacred gear. burning vengeance is a dragon based sacred gear that absorbs kinetic energy and redistributes it. in time yang will learn to power it via her own punches as well as direct kinetic energy in such a way that she's practically invincible. but for now she's only just discovered it. it appears as a pair of gauntlets and grants her more power based on how hard she is hit.
pyrrha nikos: descendant of Achilles pyrrha was told from a young age she was destined for greatness. growing without pear she thought her only option was to be picked up by some faction of the supernatural and that would be it, instead she met jaune and for once fought someone just as talented. this lit a fire in her that hasn't gone out since she will find out just who this "huntsman" really is and she will have him join her. together they shall forge their own destiny.
she holds the spear and sheild of her ancestor. Diatrekhōn Astēr Lonkhē: Straightforward is sometimes the best way to go. Rather than rely on special capabilities that form the core of a fighting style, the best course of action is to have a reliable weapon that enhances what you can do even without it. The spear of Achilles does just that. A very well made weapon, with a sharp and sturdy design, with high capability for use as a spear and a throwing javelin. It has two magical abilities. The first is that the wounds created by the spear cannot be healed without very powerful magic, so long as the spear exists. the wounds this weapon makes become part of the normal state of any victim.
The second ability is to create a bounded field for dueling. A battleground is created where it becomes impossible for gods, outside help or luck of any kind to interfere in the battle between the two combatants. This created battleground is a separate dimension, divided in space and time from the outside world, ensuring any duel lasts just a brief moment to outside view. The duel rules are decided on by both combatants together, but enforced fully on agreement, and the battleground can only be summoned provided both agree with full knowledge of the details of this ability. Only once one of the two are defeated can the field be escaped.
Akhilleus Kosmos: "The shield made for Achilles by the god Hephaestus. Engraved with a detailed depiction of the Greek world, the shield, beyond being an effective indestructible object, is able to project a immensely powerful bounded field in response to any attack. the bounded field acts as if all of Greece was between the attacker and you when activated. Should an attack be incapable of piercing both through such a magical dimensional construct and lack the power to tear through an entire country, it will fail to reach you. However, not only does the shield’s bounded field cost energy to activate and maintain, it will prove far less capable against any attack particularly capable against ‘worlds’ or dimensional constructs like this."
nora: daughter of thor, nora was supposed to be at home learning to fight, she instead stole her father's chariot and went to America to see what kind of trouble she could get into. as a demi-god she's quite strong and can control holy lightning. she's the equal of pyrrha physically though because she likes to skip out on training she's not quite as skilled. she uses a hammer as large as she is. it's enchanted not to break under her strength but that's it. and that's all she needs.
her dad wishes she would stay put, he misses hanging out with his darling baby girl and making massive thunderstorms together.
Ren: son of a chinese sword master ren has been on the path of physical cultivation for as long as he can remember. meditating daily to put more and more energy from his senjutsu into his body strengthening it. as he father says muscles, unlike women, will never betray you.
after all technique requires a specific stance or situation to be useful, muscles will always be ready. he's been friends with jaune since they were little but only recently has jaune discovered his abilities.
ren's sword storm flower is a gift given to him by nora made in a Chinese style it is capable of cultivating with him being infused with just as much senjutsu as he is.
first arc: let's be heroes! jaune uncovers his powers and decides to be a superhero not knowing about the supernatural world. he ends up picking fights with devils who own his territory and between them and the criminals he has his hands full. he tends to just use whatever is on hand if it's a surprise attack but when he's going out in his costume (a pumpkin Pete hoodie with a mask he can pull up) he takes his baseball bat with him. while doing his hero thing he meets all sorts of people that he will later team up with and also starts to get the attention of various magical factions. second arc: this is mine now! jaune is able to weild a piece of the hold sword Excalibur. more than that he's now on the hunt for all the pieces the only saving grace is that he has school so his travels are only infrequent. ren pushes his cultivation further while helping his friend. and pyrrha creates her red huntress persona to try and get closer to jaune. nora joins in an becomes her side kick.
Weiss begins her decent ascension into being a magical girl. and knowing that the power of friendship is how to win brings ruby yang and blake with her. they mainly just beat up low level devils and mages but they have fun.
arc three: fake heroes! the hero faction tries to recruit our heroes will they succeed? and why are our heroes just mercilessly mocking the hero faction of the chaos brigade? isn't this just bullying?
not sure what to do for arcs past this leme know what you'd do

behold my ultimate creation! autism knight!
simply put it's jaune but instead of being based on joan of arc he's based on the nameless knights of fairytales and arthuriana.
he'll work in any au, basic idea is he's a really good knight but he's got no idea what's going on in the deeper plot, he's just interested in being a really good knight and helping people then leaving to help others.
dude's got knight autism.
this can also work for characters like pyrrha or ruby.
Peerless: (800CP) The knights of Britain are renown for their skill, power and honour. The knights of the Round Table exemplify Britain’s virtues to an even greater extent. You? Lancelot at his height is the only one you can call a peer and he doesn’t remain there for long. Few men are as perfectly well rounded as you. Your physical abilities are enough that you could fight powerful adult dragons and demons to a draw with your bare hands or even win if you added a good weapon to your side. You’ve got unbelievable levels of martial skill in both offense and defense, across two dozen kinds of weapons, such that even without your physical abilities being so great you could slay armies. You have strategic and tactical abilities that let you lead small forces to crush far larger ones and can even make a good substitute for a king if your liege needs to spend a few months away at war, though you are far below the sort of king that can create a golden age. You have a high level of natural talent at any skill or ability you try your hand at and find it very easy to learn and train to become better at new things, quickly surpassing even the most venerable of warriors in their specialties. Of course, you would not be peerless if you did not also look the part. Among all the men in the world, only the divine could outmatch your physical splendour and even then, only by a touch. Your king might frown on the hordes of maidens that lust after you but you really can’t help it, as you gather admirers and love interests even when fully armoured and masked. Just something about you.
Mysterious: (100CP) "Enigmatic, mysterious, people stop to stare and have no idea why. There's just something strange, different about you, at least after you get your hands on this perk. Upon purchase, you gain an air of mystery that makes others curious and questioning about you, like there's always another layer to your character or something buried further down that you're hiding.
You also become good at maintaining it.
If you act up front and casual, then people just might be a bit curious about you. If you really go all in on being mysterious, you may develop into a kind of small urban legend or have a profile in some intelligence gathering agencies."
Can’t Read My: (100CP) You got one hell of a poker face. You could be having a mind shattering meltdown while appearing outwardly as perfectly composed and well mannered to the extent even the Cloudy Sword Sect would be impressed. This is also somehow genetic, meaning your kids will be equally as good at containing their inner freakouts behind a face of serenity.
the basic idea is taking the mysterious badass and turning it on it's head. the person with these powers can't be read in any way, can't be predicted as a result. and has the skills and physical abilities to always win no matter what situation they end up in!
... they just havn't been paying attention and have no idea that they've been foiling the same bad guy's plans for the last six months and now secret relics are getting involved and magic is real I guess and why the fuck is this all spiraling out of control?
what the fuck even is aura!?!?
also why is everyone coming onto them? they just wanna save people from evil is that too much to ask?
whichever character you make the autism knight will gain unfathomable abilities but at the cost of forever not knowing what's going on and everyone assuming it was all going to their keikaku (keikaku means plan)
thoughts on which character you'd make the autism knight? it can be from any media it's a very versatile character.
@howlingday @weatherman667
@heliosthegriffin why does this feel like the shadow knight if he was OP instead of barely scrapping by? like in an au where jaune had amazing abilities from the beginning he just never bothered to look deeper into things and kept saving the day never knowing that he was becoming enemy number 1 for the forces of evil.

feeling better so here's MCU jaune
basic idea is as follows i have 1000 cp for a MCU version of jaune plus 1 free roll, jaune will not have access to any abilities not rolled. and obviously aura and such isn't a thing in the MCU so no aura for him.
Shinsengumi Way: (200 CP)
"The samurai code is in reality, a thing mostly of fiction. The many restrictions and honourable rules that the noble warriors supposedly lived under were fabrications of a later age. Mostly. There were
indeed good men who bound themselves in vows and promises to show their morality, as well as those who did so to restrain their own dark sides. But the sacrifices made through a warrior’s vow can have it’s own benefits, the loss becoming new power for battle.
You are able to take vows that restrict your own life, receiving increases to your overall combat ability in exchange. The more restrictive the vow is to you personally, the more significant the
increase. Sacrificing a few hours of your time in prayer each week would be a minor boost in power at best, whereas constant limitations such as never breaking your word or always fighting in an
honorable manner could improve your power by half or even double the normal level. Breaking a restriction removes the benefit and applies a proportionate penalty to your power on top, as well as
a damaged mental state. These penalties will disappear in time and slowly removing a vow over a few days will allow you to drop the restrictions without cost. A vow’s power is based on how it
affects you personally at the current moment, something strong for others but weak for you will give weak benefits."
Fairy Weapon: (400 cp) "All of the Knights of the Round have their own special weapon.
Ankle Protection: (200CP) "A usual problem of this place is that when you make enemies and don’t finish them off, they will manage to somehow get back at you out of pettiness, now you are exempt of this big issue, if you beat sense into someone, they will listen and behave, that is, if they aren’t one of the madman who roam around, these people might need a more “permanent” solution, call it culling the weeds."
Break it Down for Me: (200CP) One of the most interesting concepts in jujutsu is that of binding vows. By intentionally putting oneself in a disadvantageous situation, such as by imposing extra restrictions upon the usage of a cursed technique, a sorcerer can gain power proportional to the extra risk they took on. One of the most common variants of this is the increase in power sorcerers get by disclosing how their technique works to their opponents, since giving up such information discards an advantage they might otherwise possess.
As a fundamental part of jujutsu, any sorcerer is capable of making such a binding vow by default. With this perk, however, you are able to apply this concept to any of your other powers. By voluntarily explaining how one of your powers works to your foes, that power will become noticeably more effective against them. Fires will burn hotter, energy blasts fly faster and hit harder, and so on. With clever wording, you can even use this to mislead your opponents on how your ability functions while still gaining the power boost, such as through lying by omission. Naturally, if those you’re up against already know how the ability you’re using functions, you won’t gain any power by telling them how it works.
You’re also capable of applying other restrictions to yourself and your powers. Perhaps you limit yourself to a certain level of output for part of the day, increasing your power proportionally for the rest of it. Or perhaps you drastically increase your speed by significantly reducing your durability. However these self-imposed vows work, the power you gain will always be directly proportional to the risk you take on. Be aware, though, that placing or removing such a restriction upon yourself takes a fair amount of time and focus, preventing you from changing them on the fly during combat. Removing a restriction also removes any power gained from it.
Family properties: (100CP) You gain a series of properties that your family uses to train the whelps. Some are hunting grounds, some are foundries for sacred items, and some are places to contemplate your path. You gain 8 of them, split between any purposes your family used them for. You can travel to them instantly via the warehouse.
1: castle, this castle is somewhere in the united states now, though originally it was in brittain, then france, in truth it's in the lands of the fae. and acts as a bulwark against invasion by both sapient and non sapient enemies. 2: training field, a massive field for training, flat open ground large enough for entire armies to fight on. 3: stables, now empty this property can hold all manner of mount.
4: armory, a hidden armory that can be used to hold dangerous items away from anyone's reach.
5: treasury, a large building for less dangerous but more valuable items.
6: hunting grounds, a large swath of woods stocked with all manner of game.
7: garden, well kept garden truly massive in size that houses fae flowers for healing mental health. also just a really nice place to visit.
8: cathedral, a trully massive cathedral that anchor's the fae wild away from the real world, wounds heal much faster while here and it houses many nuns and monks who tend to the grounds and any visitors. located somewhere close to the castle.
free roll: Flower of Chivalry: (200CP) You have come a long way in your training, always holding code of chivalry in your mind and actions, you became able to apply it without doubt or complications even in a grey world like this. You possess the heart of a lion which never backs down, the leadership of a true captain, the mind of a great strategist and the luck required in finding a worthy master to serve and gain greater glory for you both. Truly you are what all other knights aspire to be. It’s not only your heart which holds strong, but also your mastery over magic and swordsmanship is now equal to any Great Knight.
alright, the free roll was actually a pretty low level roll but I can work with that.
The arc family is famous for 1 thing, they will always keep their word, few know that vows made by an Arc are supernaturally binding though and the more hardship they willingly take on, the greater their power. this is further enhanced by their family sword, the holy sword gwr dywydd or oathkeeper, a blade that enhances the effect of their binding vows and oaths.
while the Arcs typically take up an oath to the constitution when they join the military putting them well into the physical and mental abilities of special forces in the modern era jaune found that taking a vow to live by the code of chivalry came naturally to him putting him already on the level of supersoldiers like captain America. while he's incapable of casting spells, his study of mystical arts has left him as one of the major scholars on the subject and his skill with the family blade is second to none.
but as technology advances he finds himself fighting greater and greater enemies, even a heritic god has joined the fight. can jaune survive this new world? and just what will he need to give up to obtain it?
that's my idea for it. really wasn't expecting the flower of chivalry roll but the TLDR of it is jaune's main power is just keeping his word. the binding vow and shinsengumi way stack and the sword multiplies that even further. meaning that while his oath of chivalry binds him he's physically on par with Captain America.
jaune in this is 18 and a fresh recruit for the US military branch of your choice. so the oath to the constitution also increases his abilities.
The oathkeeper is an unbreakable sword that is even stronger than vibrainium though it can't cut through it. it also just outright improves all physical parameters for it's wielder out the gate no oath's needed. it's a very good sword.
a third oath to only use the sword is more than enough to put him in the upper levels of Earth's powers.
TLDR: magical Captain America.
@howlingday @weatherman667 @heliosthegriffin
this is just my take on it, how would you write a version of jaune with these traits? any ideas for his Super hero name? BTW home state is gonna be central PA no new york for this country boy.

heading to work decided to post another character.
this time we're going with a villain. so what does the anti jaune look like? behold the warlord, a man who cares only about his own status loyal to none.
Lord of War: "In the end there is always one rule that holds true in worlds such as these might makes right. Should you actually have the techniques and cultivation to back up your wrath then few if any in this world could stand against you in combat. "
Battle Senses: "There's a song to every fight, and you've got your finger on it's beat. You can fight three of your equals with your eyes closed and come out the better for it, simply by understanding the flow of combat around you, the way the wind rushes around blades and projectiles, the way the magic in the air tenses before a strike, etc. Even if you were genuinely struck blind, you would never be the worse for wear." Knight of Owner: "As a manifestation of incredible fighting feats and achievements, a true warrior’s power has appeared in your hands. The representation of a knight and fighter without compare, this special ability immediately affects anything you come into contact with and perceive primarily as a weapon of some kind. It spreads an aura through and around the weapon, in two colours of your choice, and even as a base effect it will let you achieve an instant and natural mastery of the use of that weapon, like it was a favoured weapon that you’d wielded for many years on the battlefield. Beyond that skill, it also enchants anything affected to be a fairly powerful magical tool. the enchantments are quite useful, allowing the weapons to possess unnatural durability or fire magical blasts of significant power. Even a gun might find each bullet now possessing enough power to meaningfully harm some supernatural foes. Knight of Owner has no size limitation on what it can affect, so long as you see it and everything within that might be affected as a weapon first. Even a jet fighter or battleship can be affected, with your weaponising aura allowing you to control affected vehicles by thought alone. Lastly, the power will also override control over things that would normally have special requirements for you to use, such as a Noble Phantasm that only the wielder can use via magical rules, a gun that is DNA-locked to specific people or just a car that you need a key for."
tldr: evil jaune has an innate tallent for combat well above what anyone could imagine able to use any weapon to it's maximum effect (even further as his aura takes over the weapon he's using and enchants it) and possesses a sixth sense for battle and this is only enhanced by his lord of war power. making him basically pre-cognitive ala Spidersense and every weapon he holds becomes magical. personality wise i'd say this jaune became obsessed with being a "hero" like his ancestors and cared only about fighting strong opponents to prove he was the best.
as a result he's a neutral faction but it's an armed sort of neutrality, he'll fight anyone or anything at any time be it salem or ozpin's factions, his hands are rated E for everyone.
that being said he's still a dork, he doesn't really care about people's personal opinion on him so long as they know he's strong.
what are your thoughts on how this jaune would work out?
Do any scenes spring to mind?
and for this version of jaune I can see him having a huge amount of sexual tension with pyrrha. as well as him and penny getting along as her body counts as a weapon and means that despite her logical mind saying he's an enemy she finds herself just listening to what he says every time.

barb jaune build
barb jaune lv1 human barbarian feat: eldritch initiate (armor of shadows) ((mage armor at will)) unarmored defense add dex plus con to ac when not wearing armor mage armor: increase base ac to 13 instead of 10 when not wearing armor str:20 dex:16 con:16 int:8 wis:12 cha:14
gear: shield and sword (+2ac 1d8 slashing damage)
final ac = 21
at lv 4 take shield master to add shield to dex rolls and make it so dex saves now completely negate damage from aoe spells.
at level two we pick up danger sense that gives advantage on dex rolls against things we can see and reckless attack that gives advantage on attacks so long as we don't care about people attacking us back (enemies get advantage on us)
level three we take ancestral guardian so the spirits of the arc ancestors help jaune protect his friends giving disadvantage to attacks on anyone other than him.
tldr: jaune becomes the greatest defender possible in d&d though it should be noted that his starting ac is higher than someone in steel plate with a shield his rippling muscles are just too dense to harm lmao
that being said he's not as skilled as a fighter and he has no magic other than his armor of shadows and later on some divination magic given by his ansestor spirits. that being said jaune lacks in book learning but by level 4 he's a fucking rock that can't be harmed and makes everyone try to fight him anyways to protect his friends.
@weatherman667 @heliosthegriffin @heliosthegriffin @evenmorefatallyobsessed
thoughts on barb jaune? how would you use a character like this?
bonus concept art under the cut

gonna play some vidya but before i do I'm gonna roll up Profesor Arc
a version of our lovable noodle who was the rusted knight first then showed up at beacon. i get one free pick and 2 random rolls. lets see how our boy does and then I'll let you know how I picture the story changing.
first pick
Just something about you.
chose this one because we're going with the assumption that jaune grew into his roll as the rusted knight since he didn't slowly go mad waiting for rwby. he spent his time in the ever after learning to be a hero and helping people just for the fun of it.
we also know he's already something of a lady's man so that's just turned up to 11 now.
random roll 1
Dark Teacher: (200CP) Teachers have a great deal of power, given they are the source of each proceeding generation’s greatest warriors, magicians and leaders. Rarely is this more true than it is for you. A teacher like few others, those who study under you find that they learn as if they had enormous talent for anything you teach them, picking up everything from the combat arts to the spells of the far off Norse with lightning speed. Even faster this grows should you welcome them into your bedchambers and give them the gift of your thighs. You are particularly charming to any student you have in that manner indeed, and find that even those not yet your student will feel a growing desire to become such as your own fame for great skill and power grows.
alright so jaune's a really good teacher in this, and it speeds up if he sleeps with his students.... someone call @evenmorefatallyobsessed
seems like we're using his version of professor Arc for this lmao
random roll 2
All The King’s Horses: (100CP)A godly being like you deserves a godly steed to travel, and while you may possess an Authority to do so already, another item may prove useful in some cases. For that, this legendary mount is yours to use. Able to break the speed of sound easily while protecting all passengers and possessing a small but effective amount of firepower to defend you when you need it. The exact aesthetic depends on you, maybe you want a flying horse or a small dragon or a vimana. Regardless, the specs will be the same.
juniper made it out and is all the stronger for it! able to break the sound barrier is way faster than she used to be. and while riding on her back jaune's protected from the air and such. jackalope op
alright with that out of the way, lets move on to what this would have changed in the show.
jaune's past in this would be a built up mystery with hints of his time as the rusted knight shining through for eagle eyed fans who pay attention and know the lore. the story of the rusted knight would be brought up a lot in the first season and the good professor would always be a bit cagey about whether he likes the books or not.
as for character changes? not much, yeah he didn't know about aura still and does have to go get it unlocked before he takes the job, but he's basically just a normal teen who got back from an isseki adventure. he's got more hobbies related to equestrainism with juniper and practicing his skills but for the most part he's still just a comic loving dork who wants to make friends.
that's another thing jaune's gonna be physically 17 in this still but being much more solidly built and having longer hair he looks more mature.
the main joke around jaune is how much his students wanna jump his bones. he's like the male goodwitch in how everyone who's into guys just can't look away. his amazing skills at teaching just make everyone want him more. and when he goes out of his way to help them? well they can't not fuck him now can they?
jaune himself still doesn't get the hints, or maybe he just doesn't wanna sleep with his students. either way main joke of those new rwby would be professor arc fan service constantly coming up.
on the other hand he's utterly terrifying in combat. literally pearless in everything except aura usage and he's learning that fast. his time in the ever after changed him so he's just built different now.
the plot would be a lot of the same at first, team rwby learning to deal with each other and ruby learning to lead. pyrrha might not be his partner but she defiantly seeks him out for some private training when she can. yang will not give up on the various pick up lines/ jokes she uses on the professor though and blake thinks jaune can see right through her and knows her past.
the joke there will be that he doesn't. he really didn't think it was his business to get into his student's private lives unless they wanted him too. weiss tries to be prim and proper around him but secretly ships him with winter.
nora and ren like him. he's nice and will even help teach them or train with them for combat class. pyrrha being the only one who consistently asks for training (everyone else is too caught up in looking at jaune lol) means that they spend a lot more time around him than the average students.
people just assume juniper is an animal from out in the wilds that they've never seen before and jaune unlocked her aura so that's why she's so fast, she got a semblance.
volume 2 is where the mystery of professor arc starts getting investigated each member of team rwby imagines his mysterious past from his paperwork differently (ie in different genres of stories) and as they investigate more their theories get more elaborate sometimes jumping to entirely new genres as well, but this is the b plot of the second season. the main plot is white fang stuff with jaune proving he's absolutely terrifying on the battle field and acting as a deterant. leading the two teams on various practice missions. to handle grimm, jaune and qrow have a bromance
volume 3 we get teases that jaune might be a villain but it's a red haring the fall still happens but jaune's much more proactive and pyrrha survives, cinder still becomes the fallmaiden but has to flee when jaune shows up. yang never looses her arm but still gets her ass kicked. blake still runs off, weiss is taken back home. jaune and tai have a bromance
volume 4 lots of side quests for jaune ruby yang pyrrha ren and nora. with jaune still teaching them they're now way stronger than they were in cannon and pyrrha finally gets her man now that he's not technically their teacher anymore. ruby sleeps with him soon after. yang doesn't feel like it, still down after everything and hunting for her mother. series finally is jaune fighting cinder and raven at the same time unlocking his semblance to be truly busted. jaune and qrow have a bromance
volume 5 jaune is asked by ironwood to protect the lower city with it's wall down. jaune's happy to help but dealing with the grimm is a full time job and no one is quite sure what to do without him. ruby is forced into a leadership roll with everyone back. and we learn that jaune really was the rusted knight. pyrrha and ruby both advance so fast the others start to joke it's because Jaune finally gave them the right motivation. ozpin calls ironwood from a land line, turns out that when he dies he reincarnates in a baby's body. no soul to absorb but even just sitting up and getting his eyes to focus right is impossible right now. he'll have to remain hidden until he's old enough to fight. all he can offer is wisdom. salem attacks but thanks to everyone working together is repeled. especially after jaune explains that they could just cut her to pieces and freeze the pieces as a win condition. sure it won't last forever but he figures they could get a cool couple of centuries out of it, and if they make it to space they can just leave her to drift out there forever.
volume 6 ruby want snu snu! pyrrha want snu snu! jaune thinks they should actually talk about what their relationship is.
... qrow and jaune have a bromance as they all travel to vaccuo.
main thing here is jaune doesn't actually change the plot points too much even being op, he's just one man and a jackalope at the end of the day. what effect he does have on the plot comes from pyrrha and ruby being more effective heroes since they have more training from jaune. picking up all sorts of skills from him even before the sex based power up.
but that's just me
@heliosthegriffin @howlingday @weatherman667
how would you write this version of jaune? specifically as a character in the show and what all would you change about the show.
also peerless plus dark teacher would be overpowered in the [Worm] universe for an alternate greg. yeah he's not a legendary king but he could lead an order of knights in the grim dark world of superheroes . at least stop things from getting worse. though greg would probably pull an eminence in shadow and be more preoccupied with playing superhero than truly fixing the world. such is the problem of being a 15 year old. that combination would be really interesting in a 40k character though, especially if he's not a primarch or space marine but a normal human able to train other humans to the same ish level

not as sick just as bored.
same rules as before, this time we're making a DC superhero. lemme know how strong you think this guy would be.
Etiquette: (100 cp) "You are instinctively knowledgeable about the etiquette and deference that must be shown in any martial art or martial culture. You are aware of faux pas or mild signs of disrespect and will subconsciously avoid making them. You know how to show respect as well as where and when it is best to show it without being considered a sycophant or rude. So long as the culture is rooted in combat and discipline, you will never offend someone unless you actively seek to do "
"Army Defying: (200cp) "You cannot be overwhelmed by mere numbers. If an enemy would not present a threat to you in a one-on-one battle, then any number of similarly skilled foes are equally useless in the face of your martial prowess."
In for a Penny, in for a Pound of Flesh: (200cp) "Training? Guns? Numbers? All is for naut against true battle experience. You have no issue taking on entire armed groups on your lonesome. The more you kill, the larger groups you can take on, and the stronger individuals you can challenge. With a few wars under your belt, taking on a small army or a stone-skinned monster is child’s play "
Instant Ninja: (100cp) "Blending in is all well and good, but if there are security cameras around you'll feel a bit out of luck. You can't do anything, act out or you'll expose yourself. Say you do wanna act though, but aren't in disguise, what are you to do? Upon purchase, you become incredibly skilled at whipping up ""ninja"" themed disguises using only what you have on hand or find in your surroundings. Disguises usually consist of masks, flowing scarves and tactical wrappings that help pull the look off. These improvised disguises are surprisingly effective at keeping your identity secret, with a single flaw that may expose you to the especially observant, your footwear. Something about your shoes leaves them the only thing people will be able to recognize in and out of your disguises, if they ever saw them to begin with."
Angel of the Battlefield: (400cp) "Just being a leading star in the medical field isn’t enough to change the world, not when you have to do it from the front of a battlefield too. While you are most certainly at the front of the pack in terms of medical skill and knowledge of your time, at least as far as Nightingale’s time, your talents are more notable than that. A superb instinct for all things relating to medicine, it allows you to easily master techniques and technology even centuries advanced from your time if you can gain access. Even without access, advancing medical knowledge comes smoothly and quickly to you, accelerating the speed of new discoveries greatly.
Medicine becomes widely applicable in your hands, in some ways superhumanly so. Your knowledge makes you a lethal combatant even with limited combat training, innately understanding the most efficient ways to move your own body, the most vulnerable vital points to strike and how to greatly reduce damage with the right block. Your treatments become applicable on all targets, even against what seems like common sense, as you can stitch up the wounds of spiritual beings with no more difficulty than a flesh and blood human. Even non-humans take only a small time to study before you can effectively understand and begin treatment. While this talent does not directly boost the power of healing magecraft, your knowledge and the skill it lets you use those spells with make you a far superior wielder to most."
edit: forgot the free roll
Philosopher Kings: (free, 100cp) "The greatest kings and military leaders were more than just warriors and tacticians. They were men of incredible fortitude beyond the simple body, with wills to push forward against the impossible for years at a time, so that they could grasp victory. They were more than fighters, with experience as philosophers or explorers that they bent towards their goals of conquest. You’re not a great king yet but you share those beginnings. You’ve got a will like a wall of diamond, incredible hard and near impossible to break or bend. You might not last forever against everything but it’ll take a damn lot to make you bend the knee by choice. Your childhood, where you found that will, was spent not just on military training but also in another field of life of your choice, such as exploring distant lands for years to experience new cultures or spending time as a notable teacher of the arts at home, which has given you a wide array of minor skills and experiences that aid you in finding creative solutions to your enemies."
he spent his childhood learning the law
the basic concept is simple, a frontline doctor who's able to keep up with and heal the heavy hitters of the JL something like a batman but one devoted to keeping his allies in the fight rather than planning up grand strategies to take on the bad guys, that being said he is still growing with every fight, and he can easily ignore fodder. that being said just starting out he's got no combat training and will need someone to help get him started. at least he knows how to do the basics like throw a punch without hurting himself.
@howlingday @heliosthegriffin @weatherman667 how well do you think this hero would do in the DC universe?

magical supersoldier
idea is simple, this character had a dragon's core magically implanted into them at birth, this would end up giving them enough power as is but they also had a genetic trait that would increase their growth even further. the only downside is they lack the flashy magic of wizards and witches instead they are simply made better physically and mentally by the powers coursing through their veins.
some fun uses for the character are Xander harris: changed at birth to be the ultimate weapon for some demon or other before they were killed by a greater demon without ever explaining what they were planning. xander grows up with absolutely no idea of his abilities but hyperactivity and a general sense that something strange was happening around him. when jessie turns xander uses his abilities for the first time. worried that he'll be exorsized or something he keeps his abilities hidden from the scoobies and tries to help buffy kill vampires in secret. obviously his friends realize something is up when the hyena spirt possesses him but hey thems the breaks
greg vader: the result of a bio tinker playing god greg has no intention of hiding his abilities he does however see hero work as a game since only the top tiers are a threat to him. obviously he'll need to train up some assistants though, what kind of criminal mastermind doesn't have minions? (spoilers his golden retriever puppy like nature means he ends up being a hero who robs from villains but it's about the aesthetic man!) danny phantom villain: like danny is a human with a ghost core this villain is a human with a dragon core, both are considered kings in their respective parts of the infinite realms. their battle is hyped up for a long time but in reality they both tend to not care too much about the title and grow to be pretty good friends and allies. right up until they start fighting over teenaged boy nonsense and it becomes a problem for everyone.
yang: yang has grown up knowing that she was different but frankly it's never mattered to her too much, it just meant that she could protect her little sister better when grim came, unfortunately, she didn't know that the Arc family were known for their legendary ability to calm dragons with their presence. and she's now constantly seeking out the local blonde noodle because he's "pretty chill" leading to her getting involved in his faked transcripts and jnpr being dragged along with rwby for more adventures.
build under the cut
Dragonheart: (600) "When you were but a babe, a mad wizard decided to test out a new spell on you. He infused your body with the blood of a dragon, granting those same abilities in your frail human form. Or not so frail anymore. Your core has become akin to that of a Dragon, immensely enhancing your magical abilities. Your mana will grow immensely as you age, becoming close to equaling that of an adult Dragon by the time you are an adult, and continuing to grow at a slower rate as long as you continue to live. It will replenish at a terrifying rate, refilling from empty in but an hour of time as your inner dragon generates nearly endless amounts within you. This draconic power also grants you a extremely high level of resistance to magic, rendering you immune to spells save from the highest class of magus, such as Merlin himself. However, it does also make you slightly more vulnerable to attacks that have an advantage against dragons, due to your nature."
Battle Aura: (free) "A warrior has an ability to coat their whole body or a specific part of their body in Mana or magical energy, forming a dense mantle of energy known as Battle Aura. This can be done when someone reaches a sufficient level of development in their body and skills while some unconsciously use it. In your case, you instinctively know how to use it and it passively coats your entire body and clothes from the get-go. This allows you to explosively boost strength, speed, durability, reaction times, spatial awareness and magic resistance along with the ability to strengthen your weapon and perform unbelievable techniques and even resisting harsh conditions like extreme heat and cold is also possible. By default you have the talent to reach Saint-Rank within three years on your own at bare minimum, but with a proper teacher and learning environment you may reach God-Rank in a decade along with having the instinctive ability to use and wield the Beginner-Rank techniques of the Three Sword-Styles. You also gained the ability to grant the ability to use the Battle Aura of this world to someone that doesn't have it. The people that you grant the Battle Aura/Magic System would gain a talent that allows them to reach Saint-Rank within three years on their own at bare minimum, but those with a proper teacher and learning environment may reach God-Rank in a decade granted they only focus on either becoming a Warrior or Magician and not both, if not it would take much longer reach God-Rank. By default those who you grant this ability gain an effect similar to Laplace Factor, which allows them to improve their Mana Reserves so long they train and continue to deplete their Mana Reserves and they also have the ability to pass Battle Aura to their children and their descendants. You can also grant the same ability/talent to people who lack it in this jump."
Laplace Factor: (free)
"While magical reserves are determined at birth, there are some exceptions like those with a Laplace Factor which allows them to grow and expand their magical reserves to a substantial amount during their childhood. As a jumper you also have this Laplace Factor dialed up to eleven and it won’t disappear once you’re grown. It lets you expand your magical reserves infinitely by simply depleting your magical reserves and allowing it to recover. It also grows with time doubling in amount every year even without doing anything. Furthermore, you also lack the disability of being unable to wear Battle Aura like most beings that have the original Laplace Factor possess. Should you have multiple types of energy pools, this would allow you to combine it into one energy pool that has all their advantages and devoid of their drawbacks though you can split them whenever you wish."
Overwhelming Might: (400)
"Despite the decent array of unique superpowers in Dragonball, pure power often reigns supreme. A common example of this is that some powerful individuals are capable of outright ignoring or otherwise bypassing powers. Like Broly, you are capable of this feat as well. You can essentially brute force your way through anything as long as you are stronger. For example, if you were placed in a spatial or temporal lock you could ignore it. This process becomes easier as you grow stronger."
the basic idea is that whatever character you give this power set too is inevitably going to become the physically strongest in the world via their dragon core and laplace factor just growing their raw power, it will accelerate if the person trains their mana to exhaustion because the dragon core will refill in an hour and their laplace factor will increase their overall pool meaning that in just 8 hours or so they could have an 8 fold growth rate, and even if they don't train their powers will simply grow forever.
the trade off is that they're limited to only physical power, sure they can ignore powerful abilities and esoteric bullshit but they themselves are limited to melee combat meaning that if you pick out an anti-dragon weapon like say Ascolon the Sword of Saint George or anything the Dragonborn can bring to bear this character doesn't really have an option. dragon slayers or tamers are their kryptonite.
@heliosthegriffin @howlingday @weatherman667 how would you guys use their sort of character? i'd probably make them more of a background character or something like sid from the eminence in Shadow. their raw power can't be beat but the trade-off is their sort of goofy about everything and it's their desire to be entertained that leads to them holding back or pretending to be something else. if I was writing the character as xander from the buffy verse I would instead focus on the character interactions and mystery around them at first, then the way the universe has to bend around this new power as xander just wants to go back to being a no body because he's scared he'll abuse his powers. maybe some angst about him being a magically engineered weapon rather than a human like he thought he was.

i'm sick and bored!
so here's another celestial dojo jaune build but this time I gave myself 1000 character points to work with and one free random roll. there will be no further rolls on the celestial dojo all improvements will come from in universe abilities. AU the grimm do not exist, instead it is the darkness in the hearts of men that hunters must strive against, the world of remnant is a post great war world where the color revolution and faunas wars happened at the same time leading to the utter collapse of civilization. five kingdoms remain,
Vale: the last monarchy, a place where knighthood and chivalry still finds a home. the king is elected from one of the noble families every ten years, knights are trained warriors who preside over a single settlement, while new colonies are popping up banditry and harsh weather or bad harvests can and will wipe them out leading to only a few knightly houses remaining. still any who wish may take on huntsmen training and take up the noble calling of a knight after graduation.
Atlas: the industrial powerhouse of the world, it is a city state with mandatory military service for all people, it is in a constant guerrilla war with menagery. it's tech is quite literally a century ahead of everwhere else though. minstral: the land of mercenaries. the entire state is essentially made up of mercenary companies who fight against or for cartels sometimes at the same time. minstral itself is a neutral territory where discussions of business can happen without risk of death for the negotiators. as a result the city effectively controls the continent but has very little power. vaccuo: vale's southern neighbor is in an interregnum lacking a royal to sit on the throne constant wars between the nomadic tribes of the desert and the Shieks over water keep them from uniting as no one has the spare men to expand their influence. menagerie: recognized as a kingdom in it's own right the island nation does have to deal with terrible PR as pirates and the White fang a faunas supremacy group are pretty much all they're known for now. making international trade and alliance all but impossible. now the royal belladonas seek to remove the white fang and pirates seeing them as a relic of the past. this of course is not going down well. you'd think in a world with no grimm things would be safer but no, with aura still a thing all it takes is some random jerk with a strong semblance and everyone's trying to take over the world. bandits are common outside the city walls and only other aura users can stop them. in this world of bloody evolution can the flower of chivalry bloom? or has the world fallen too far?
jaune's traits:
Breathing Style (400 CP) "The bread and butter of a demon slayer, the breathing techniques. You may choose any breathing style you like for any level or you can create your own on the same level as described, they don’t need to be for swords either, and note that all the higher levels can be reached by training. Post-jump you don’t need to breathe in order to use them if you do not require air to survive.
Hashira: The highest position of a demon slayer, usually gained by killing at least 50 demons or killing one of the 12 moons as a kinoe(the highest normal rank of demon slayers). You have reached the pinnacle of what a normal human is capable of with your breathing style, able to easily cut through scores of demons easily and take out the lower ranked moons without much effort. Your body is much stronger than the previous option, so much so you could be faster than the eye could see, and you may have even developed techniques of your own that no one else knows, but the most notable change is in your stamina, being able to go through extremely harsh training for weeks or even months straight. " Hanma (300 cp) "A lineage genetically predisposed to excel in all matters of violence, growing stronger with each battle. The quintessential Hanma bears the title of “World’s Strongest Lifeform”. Monstrous beasts, modern armies, and even natural disasters kneel before his physical might.
Those of the Hanma blood tend to develop demonic imagery throughout their body, such as the skull, back muscles, and even the brain.
For 300cp, you are a true heir to the Hanma name. So long as you continue to challenge yourself, you may catch up to masters with decades of experience in a few years, and the Ogre’s power may very well be within reach."
Steel Trap Clarity (300 cp) "It's a sad fact, but traitors and spies are lurking everywhere. Their hands forced by blackmail, willingly becoming a double agent from bribery or falling to good old fashioned brain washing. Not you though, absolutely not. Upon purchase, you become excessively resistant to traditional forms of corruption, mystical forms of brainwashing and everything in between. Something with mind-boggling power may still be able to put you under its control. Most of the threats to your morals or sanity in this world are just out of luck. Additionally, you will always be able to keep a clear idea of your personal principles, meaning you won't stray off of your path on accident."
(Free roll) Blessed by the Sun God (600cp) You did not awaken with the Demon Slayer Mark, you were born with it. Ever since you were young you have been stronger than most, and you only grew stronger over time. Because the mark is so deeply engraved into your body, it has undergone a change from the normal version, making you even stronger than it would make others along with a great increase in talent. Your Transparent World has gotten to the point where you can see individual blood vessels and sickness in people while also slowing the world down even more along with your thought processing being even faster. Most importantly, your Red Blade is much more potent, not only causing wounds to heal at a snail's pace for those with extremely fast regeneration and taking even more energy, but the wounds will continue to burn long after they have been healed, which will always leave nasty scars. Finally, those you train with will slowly be able to awaken their own marks, though only the first version.
how would you write this version of jaune? here's my idea down below
jaune's family in this universe have an instinctive grasp of violence, one they bury under the laws of chivalry to be able to function in this world. while most simply use aura the arcs developed this bodies first only unlocking the aura of their children after they've mastered the breathing forms. the increase in strength and speed is about what you would get from unlocking your aura and their natural physicality makes them stronger than most low level huntsmen anyways. jaune was unique born with the sign of the rainbow on his back he's always gotten combat and an instinctive grasp of how the human body works. but as a result has been isolated from the common sense of this world, lacking any idea of what aura is or how it works. not knowing what a huntsman is in relation to a knight. (knights are assigned a territory to watch over huntsmen travel around) and not knowing about modern tech and who the players are in the world. (doesn't know about weiss or pyrrha) people tend to view him as a blunt instrument. in reality his mind is far sharper than any would give him credit for. he's just a purpose built item, a sword among axes and hammers. he asked to be sent to beacon not to learn to fight but to actually learn to be human outside the shadow of his family. but can he hold back the instinctive call for violence that runs through his veins?
how would you write this world? how would you write this version of jaune ignoring my idea for it just above. also any thoughts on how things like the silver eyes would adapt to having to handle human enemies? my thought was it visualizes aura helping the silver eyed warriors not only empathetically predict their enemies abilities and next attacks but also what their semblance is. as well as giving a strong boost to their aura when feeling strong positive emotions.
@howlingday @weatherman667 @heliosthegriffin just something i'm doing while i'm too sick to actually do anything. lemme know what you would do

obligitory batman like character. the gentleman badass.
this character doesn't have physical superpowers instead he's mastered two distinct mental techniques that better allow him to learn. mainly in an attempt to impress a girl. now the only question is just how far will he be able to push himself?
build under the cut
Man of the New World: (200cp)
"As the world moves on from hitting each other with crude sticks and fists, power begins to change hands.
The strongest man in the room goes from an undoubted leader to mere muscle for the true power, the man with all the knowledge.
A combination of natural prodigy and years of effort gave you a position among Britain’s most vaunted minds. While your most famous talents are focused in a single academic discipline, such as Moriarty and his world-renowned skill with mathematics or an unsurpassed brilliance with biology, you are broadly skilled with many other fields.
From several respected academic paths to the different styles of the arts and even a deep understanding of philosophy, you match the learning in each of what most men try a decade or more to come close to.
Though a touch barbaric, you even indulged in learning a martial style of the empire, having enough experience in boxing or baritsu to knock back-alley heads together without trouble.
It’s made possible with a particular mental technique that allows you to absorb and retain information easily, the creation of a continually expanding ‘memory palace’ style territory within your mind.
Information is easily memorised and efficiently stored, granting the ability to rapidly make connections between even seemingly disparate pieces of data that you have gathered. Knowledge of disciplines you once studied thirty years ago remains as fresh as the new fad you spent an afternoon exploring."
Thought Acceleration: (200)
"Even a human brain operating at peak capacity has its limits - it is, after all, what amounts to biological hardware with set limitations. But what if those limitations could be surpassed?
You are able to accelerate your thought processes to twice their normal speed, letting you quickly multitask and react faster than body and nervous system would normally allow, running calculations and strategies in a blink rather than a minute.
In time, you could even accelerate this to three, or four or more times in speed. However, much like overclocking a computer, this is a stressful technique that is exhausting and, if overused, can burn your brain out like an overheated engine. Practice and careful moderation may let you overcome this, but for now, be cautious in how you use this."
In for a Penny, in for a Pound of Flesh: (200) "Training? Guns? Numbers?
All is for naut against true battle experience.
You have no issue taking on entire armed groups on your lonesome.
The more you kill, the larger groups you can take on, and the stronger individuals you can challenge. With a few wars under your belt, taking on a small army or a stone-skinned monster is child’s play."
Stealth Efficiency: (100)
"The strong rules the weak, so how can the weak defeat the strong? Like how two brilliant NEETs from another universe always say, the weak’s weapons against the strong are their intelligence and strategy, not their power.
Apparently, you learned a different lesson from this ideology: no one, regardless of their power, can prepare themselves from an attack they don’t know is coming, including those stronger than you. Your attacks are twice as effective and powerful when used against an unadvised opponent, but this power boost loses its effect once they perceive your presence.
This is perfect for a first surprise attack to end a fight before it starts, letting even a weaker servant defeat a stronger master."
Stealth expert: (200) "You’re a Master of stealth. You could infiltrate highly armed military bases and no one would ever even know you were there."
Stuntmaster: (100)
"The absolute best part of being a skilled warrior as a Solar Exalt? It’s how your every movement follows with both grace and grandeur, how you become a stuntmaster that makes combat look almost like dancing.
Your attacks become eye-catching and graceful, and while no more effective, your skills in battle will look visually impressive in addition to your already-existing effectiveness. This can also be applied to any sort of skill, power or trade you put effort and enthusiasm into, letting you perform all of your abilities while looking absolutely fantastic doing so."
Stunt Master: (free)
"You are a master of stunting. Any time you try to do something amazing the world will conspire to make your attempted stunt just that little bit more dramatic and incredible. Maybe there just happens to be a rope to let you swing across the ballroom dramatically as you make off with the nobles treasure, or maybe there's just the right amount of handholds and footholds on two opposing walls, at just the right distance from each other, that would allow you to dramatically wall jump your way up.
So long as you strive to do things in an amazing and/or over the top fashion you will be slightly rewarded for doing so, Fate conspiring to make you that little bit better at whatever you're doing because apparently Fate is really fond of over-the-top action sequences. You can still fail when you're doing over the top stuff though, so don't get too out of hand, this just represents a slight-to-moderate increase when you're purposely trying to be amazing. "
Beautiful: (free) "You are very beautiful, guaranteed to be beautiful enough make the majority of the opposite sex think you are hot. This won’t shift your appearance to something you find ugly. "
so the basic idea behind this character is a sherlock holms/ batman like character who's main abilities are mental. his mind palace plus thought acceleration puts him well above street level and his skill with baritsu means he's not a slouch in combat anyways. but his skills in stealth and using surprise to take down his enemies really pushes him to the level of someone like batman, plus like batman he's got plot armor in the form of his stunt master abilities. Everything he does is over the top and stunning to behold. and as he keeps fighting he keeps getting better his skills somehow never hitting a peak letting him fight even superhumans.
his one downside is that he starts off as a kid trying to impress a girl and he never really out grows that. no matter how many years and adventures he has under his belt this character will always find himself in trouble by chasing a pretty face.
He'll also always start young, having to grow into his own body to truly be the force on the battlefield he's destined to be. but because of his more esoteric mental abilities, he's far more than just a brute able to plan and strategize around enemies and react to or predict things, moving faster than human thought. a genius.
This character doesn't need to be the hero. if you think they'd do better as a phantom thief or big bad evil guy, or even just a merc doing work for the highest bidder or prettiest face he'll fit into and thrive in any situation.
@heliosthegriffin i'm picturing this as an alternative Shadow Knight, but this jaune learnt mental abilities rather than trying to out fight the Grimm learned how to go all in on the advantages he has. Still having neo as his assistant and having a less heroic and more mercurial bent to him, he's just trying to keep his girl entertained after all.
@weatherman667 @howlingday how would you two use a character like this?
i like the idea of a guy who gets mental powers but thinks he's stuck being a street level hero for the rest of his life, un aware that he's constantly taking on threats that the heavy hitters just can't handle because they're too big to find the root cause of the villainry of the city.

one more random character.
i'm having a lot of fun with these, this one will be in Avatar the last airbender.
Blade Beyond Steel: (400 cp) Your connection to your blade goes beyond physical skill. You have honed your swordsmanship to such a degree that your weapon becomes an extension of your very soul. No matter the material, you can wield your sword with such finesse that it can cut through objects far stronger than steel—be it reinforced armor, magical barriers, or even energy-based attacks. Your blade can sever through nearly anything, and no defense is safe from the sharpness of your strikes.
Master Swordsman: (200 CP) You possess the incredible skill of a seasoned swordsman. Your reflexes, precision, and technique are at a level that only the most dedicated of swordfighters can reach. Whether you're armed with a katana or any other blade, you can easily slice through enemies with devastating accuracy. With every swing of your sword, you can precisely cut through opponents or deflect incoming attacks, leaving your enemies in awe of your skill. This is the foundation of Atomic Samurai’s incredible swordsmanship.
Steel Trap Clarity: (300 CP) It's a sad fact, but traitors and spies are lurking everywhere. Their hands forced by blackmail, willingly becoming a double agent from bribery or falling to good old fashioned brain washing. Not you though, absolutely not. Upon purchase, you become excessively resistant to traditional forms of corruption, mystical forms of brain washing and everything in between. Something with mind boggling power may still be able to put you under its control. Most of the threats to your morals or sanity in this world are just out of luck. Additionally, you will always be able to keep a clear idea of your personal principles, meaning you won't stray off of your path on accident.
Perfectly Trained: (100 CP) They say someone who loves what they do will never work a day in their life. What you love is training. You love the sweat, the aching, the exhaustion. To that end, you’ve gotten good at seamlessly working your training into daily life, whether it be shadowboxing to kill time or practicing footwork when going out for a walk.
Infernal Governance: (free) You would hardly be a noble if you couldn’t look and act the part. Luckily this is something you have internalized completely, able to project a sense of dignity, grace, and nobility through your body language. And you don't just look like it, you also have experience with politics and governance, to the point that you would be able to walk into near any court in Creation and be accepted, while you would actually be able to be a good ruler. Of course to live the lifestyle of the nobility, you'll need a certain amount of wealth. It is a good thing then, that you're just as skilled in selling whatever you wish, finding the appropriate buyers, and setting up a shop to do so. Lastly this makes you skilled at coming up with convoluted plots to accomplish your goals, which somehow seem to work better than simpler schemes.
free roll: Anti Deception: (200 CP) At the outset of your journey, a significant portion of the Saints have been swayed to align themselves with Mars, lured by convincing falsehoods painting Athena as weak and the Martians as allies in the protection of humanity. Fortunately, you possess the invaluable ability to see through both lies and half-truths, allowing you to discern the deceptive nature of these claims. Furthermore, armed with a keen sense of logic, you meticulously dissect the inconsistencies and illogicalities present in the narrative, presenting compelling arguments to your allies to expose the deception and sway them from serving Mars.
this character is a nobel who is not a bender, instead he's a swordsman who's family has been stubbornly independent in the face of both the firenation and the earth kingdom. you might think it's their skill at arms that has saved the lands but in reality it's their minds, their skills at seeing through deception and half truths and their will to stick to their morals. these things are what makes them truly dangerous that and their skill at governance and strategy. still while the character starts off with the skills to fight, they lack the body nessicary for it. luckily perfectly trained helps to ensure that even if they're forced to play the noble administrator they do improve on their abilities as they go. tldr: really good swordsmen who are extremely politically savvy. ideas I had, 1 arranged marriage with the bei-fong family. leading to him eventually meeting toph and neither one really sure what to do because they were both expecting to hate the other making breaking up the arranged marriage even harder. maybe they don't break it off leading to them joking that their friends are all living in sin. 2 there are some religious buildings with people who look suspiciously like air nomads tending the place but he assures the firenation that it's just people who teach air nomad theology and they're simply priests and priestesses
3 no he has no idea who those pirates raiding both the earth kingdom and Firenation ships were but he hopes they find whatever handsome dashing rouge is doing it.
4 uses a willow leaf saber or liuyedao as his weapon of choice. with something very simular to European saber as his style.
5 those are totally normal bison and not flying sky bison, they use them for their wool and they can't fly. that's rediculous.
while his dad still rules over his lands he ends up traveling with the avatar on his trip up north to learn water bending and just never leaves.
this makes him a target for both earth and fire nation bounty hunters and he has a competition with soka over who can get the higher bounty. soka complains that he's cheating by having the earth kingdom mad at him too.
@howlingday @heliosthegriffin @weatherman667 @thatorigamiguy
any ideas for this character? also i should take advantage of the free powers more often. not all of them are great but a lot of them are OP for being free powers. secondary idea just for Weatherman he's actually the son of a roman senator in the avatar version of rome. they're still actively opposing both earth and fire nation but they're doing so less through pirates and clever lies and more through the unified effort of the roman legions the only majority non bender nation to remain in the face of both the earth kingdom expansion and the newer firenation.
ROMA INVICTA!
#[email protected] fics#avatar the last airbender#au#it's intresting to see how the world changes with an agressivly neutral faction#and how it's thier sense of skill in governence and mental acuity that keeps them going even if they're really good swordsmen on top of it#rome in avatar

elaboration on the lore of the knight peerless in the Buffy au
the knight peerless was the masculine force that worked in opposition to the feminine slayer, where the slayer was often added by the forces of harmony and was a defensive measure against the forces of evil always growing in relation to the powers that opposed it, the knight peerless was a magical force favored by chaos working in an offensive capacity to wipe out the forces of evil before they became a problem for the slayer.
more lore under the cut
as the slayer was given power via the spells cast on the scythe, the knight peerless was meant to be empowered by spells cast on excalibur however with the death of arthur the powers that be sought to limit the powers of chaos and removed the knight peerless from existence. so it would have remained if not for a strange costume found in the shop of a chaos mage by one Xander Haris.
the costume reacted with the spell turning xander into the knight peerless and bringing this force back into the world again.
the knight peerless is a origine for the knight in shining armor trope of fairy tales, the knight errant who shows up to fight the forces of evil in various forms, saves the day, then ride off into his next battle never seeking kudos or accolades.
in reality the knight is protected by the curse of mystery, his aura and actions are such that any person trying to find the truth of the knight's identity would become obsessed with them, digging further and further into conspiracies and theories that had no basis in reality, serving to mask the mundane life of the knight and spread his legend in such a way that darkness would naturally be forced on the back foot.
it is a shame that the main threat to the knight then is the forces of harmony who seek to maintain their planned destiny for the world and despise the idea of good triumphing in a way that can't be balanced.
the knight gains impressive learning skills, able to become the top talent in any skill he seeks to learn. gains the accumulated skill at arms and strategy that all previous knights had gained, and gains the physique to take on even hell gods unarmed and give a good showing, if armed with a good weapon even winning.
he is also made beautiful, his form perfected and even under the protection of his helm attacking all whom see him with a quite sort of intensity as he protects those who need him.
his armor is actually the curse of mystery made solid, a magical barrier that while able to be bipassed by anti magic weapons and spells handles most physical forces easily.
the knight is also given an amazing poker face that triggers every time he seeks to purposefully or inadvertently tell of his identity providing an ability to also have his more human side release the emotions he feels safely behind a mask of chivalric politeness and manerism.
the knight peerless needs no trainer as a result but can get no more powerful than he is now, and lacks the slayer's regenerative abilities instead gaining his armor and physical resistance to prevent damage in the first place.
if a slayer is given time to grow they will inevitably out do the knight.
zander haris became the knight after a chaos spell and as a result has thrown all of the powers that be's plans into a tailspin. most notably he was active before Buffy arrived in Sunnydale meaning that many vast numbers of vampires had been dusted before the slayer even arrived. he also has made quite the impression on his friends, of course, his unending jealousy towards the knight was sparked by their constant praise of the mysterious figure. zander will remain unaware of his own nature until after the defeat of the master, he will then begin his training to master the transformation.
lacking in his own weapons he has a bad habit of borrowing any spare swords buffy brings with her on patrol, when it's bad enough that he has to save her that is, or rather when he stumbles upon her.
@weatherman667 that's what i got so far, anything you think should be added to the lore? the idea is that the knight peerless is something that throws destiny out of wack in favor of good and the powers that be don't like that, but his own aura of mystery means that it's nearly impossible to know it's him until he learns to bypass the curse and tell his friends who he is. i like the idea of xander being jealous of his alter ego when he doesn't know he's still the knight

elaboration on Warlord Greg
new costume
new sword
same build but i'm adding in
Stunt Master: (free) "You are a master of stunting.
You can still fail when you're doing over the top stuff though, so don't get too out of hand, this just represents as light-to-moderate increase when you're purposely trying to be amazing."
with this being more of a narative focused power, perhaps an addition to his thinker ability to let him find opertunities for stunts. but in reality this is just to make it so he doesn't have to have outside help to free run across the city.
his earlier powers were Root of all Swords, (making him the greatest swordsman in the world able to cut down armies with fluidity and grace but also giving him control enough to not kill unless he wishes and makes his sword able to cut though any PHYSICAL material. can't cut force fields and the like) knowledge of the sowa (prevents mind control and prediction of any kind up to precognition or clairvoyance of his sword style while in combat) and warlord (just a flat out boost to combat abilities pushing him to godlike levels of timing and technique)
it should be noted that he gained a noctus rating meaning he no longer sleeps at all. he can spend an hour or so meditating or doing a certain ritual to mimic the effects of resting.
Greg's shard was at its root a computer that was all about making sure other shards were performing thier jobs correctly. As a result, it is resistant to outside interference and downloaded perfect technique into Greg's head for how to use his weapons. It also gave him a striker ability that at first seems minor but when paired with his weapon knowledge and talent can eventually allow him to cut across dimensions and slash any number of times with a single movement.
greg's got a mental hang up on guns, as a result of his power he just doesn't understand them at a basic level.
greg's body is that of an unathletic teenaged boy and while his noctus status is giving him plenty of time to train. while he'll never be super human in strength or dexterity he was already a pretty smart kid before he became a thinker and now he has a brain far more skilled at learning as well.
even before he got the master protection via combat greg was emotionally stable. described as a puppy in human form he was excitable and overly friendly but noticeably normal in a city where sex slavers controlled one part, Nazis controlled the other, and mercenaries of a third villain controlled the last part. and he wasn't on drugs or in the empire despite being blonde with blue eyes.
Arc One
Greg's trigger coincided with a girl named Taylor Hebert's, Taylor had been being bullied for over a year at this point to a degree that could be called psychological torture. but the straw that broke the camel's back was her former friend turned personal demon Emma barns shoving her in a locker filled with used female sanitation products. she had just about lost hope that anyone even the faculty would help her when Greg stepped forward and with her help opened her locker and freed her. he helped her get to a phone to call an ambulance and saw her get cleaned up from her ordeal while they waited for help to arrive unmolested and after she left he was found by Sophia Hess and beaten to within an inch of his life.
Emma barns would later accuse him of trying to rape her and he would be Expelled, this would be rescinded after he threatened to take it above the principle's head and he was instead transferred to Arcadia high downtown.
the memories of his assault would come up in dreams quite often and eventually one set of nightmares would be his trigger event. his desire to be able to fight back being interpreted by his shard as a desire to know martial arts techniques and further narrowed down to swords due to his liking of anime and their sword techniques.
two weeks after the locker incident greg would never have to sleep again and would take up the sword to fight crime in the night. mainly going up against the Archer's bridge merchants, a group of drug dealers under the control of three capes, skidmark a man with the ability to create fields of continuous kinetic energy pushing things in one direction, a tinker who was able to make super tanks and vehicles, and mush a man with the ability to control garbage.
greg would take inspiration from zorro and would base his costume off of him and would even take the name of the hero for himself it being public domain in earth bet for a long time by then.
his first initial weeks of superheroing made greg certain of one thing, he really didn't want to deal with the lime light anymore. becoming an errant, that is a hero who does not pursue reputation or seek to make a name for himself via his costume or managed PR, greg fought against street level criminals always careful to never get involved with the police media or PRT directly.
in his down time he started learning free running and found great luck with the mechanical aspects of it. though he would have difficulties running for long periods of time with his low athletic ability. mainly walking to where he needed to go. he would eventually learn that he'd need to plan ahead if he wanted to find criminals. taking time after his nightly patrols to investigate various parts of the city and mark down places of interest and escape routes should things go wrong.
he would be confronted about a month into his vigilante carrier by Arm-master a superhero who used tinkertech weapons and armor.
his aggressive recruiting tactic rubbed Zorro the wrong way and a fight was had. though zorro was athletically average by this point he was still outmatched by the far more powerful tinker using his power armor and high frequency halberd and tools.
Zorro's saving grace was he was simply far more skilled in melee combat while his striker ability wouldn't let him cut through the dense energy that surrounded the halberd his enemy used he was able to anticipate his enemy while his enemy was unable to predict his own moves.
zorro would eventually win dramatically cutting a Z into arm-master's armor telling him he would now have a memento of the time he met a "real hero" before he ran off into the night arm-master's armor too damaged to pursue. this would mark a downward turn in his relations with the PRT and the Protectorate.
Arc Two
it would be another month before he felt he was ready physically to take on the city. his noctus powers giving him more than enough time and energy to run across the city it was time to take down the merchants!
in a series of raids on cook houses meant to draw out the capes so he could take them down Zorro would take down mush first, cutting the golem of trash the man surrounded himself with before dealing enough damage to make the cape stand down.
next would be skidmark the leader whom he simply ambushed as skidmark was heading to a stash house Zorro had just taken down. dropping the man with a single stab in a no life threatening area.
this is where things started to fall apart for the young hero. squeeler now out for blood zorro was stuck running from the enraged tinker lacking in a way to put her down. with each passing minute resulting in further property destruction as she simply bulldozed through any building or structure he attempted to put between them. eventually he was able to cut through the armored monster truck tank thing that she was driving but by then the damage was done.
while he'd managed to put down the Archer's bridge Merchants for good he had been marked as an enemy by the law he would now be hunted by both sides.
@heliosthegriffin @howlingday @weatherman667
this is what i came up with for the first two arcs for the character i made earlier. changed around some cosmetic stuff with the name and how exactly his powers triggered but i thought this fit more with the goofy attitude he has. outright cosplaying as a famous vigilante instead of trying to be his own hero and generally putting his foot in his mouth while fighting with everyone around him. he's an amazing swordsman and the universe rewards him when he does cocky shit but that's about it, it would take months just to get him to average athletic ability and his social skills are actively making his life harder.
felt like it was a good balance. sure he's able to kick just about anyone's ass in a straight up fight but he's learning quick that no one wants to fight him when they know they're gonna loose.
let me know what you think :)
