RIP Kirstie Alley!
The role I got to know you first was Virgilia Hazard in North & South, and boy, this woman could fight for her beliefs. Which led to death, unfortunately.

Inga Swenson (December 29, 1932 – July 23, 2023) Stage, film and television actress and singer. She appeared in multiple Broadway productions and was nominated twice for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performances as Lizzie Curry in 110 in the Shade and Irene Adler in Baker Street. She also spent seven years portraying Gretchen Kraus in the ABC comedy series Benson.
Swenson appeared in two episodes of Bonanza: "Inger, My Love" (1962) and "Journey Remembered" (1963) as Hoss' mother. She portrayed Gretchen Kraus, the autocratic and acerbic German cook (later head housekeeper and budget director) in the TV sitcom Benson. Her portrayal garnered three Emmy nominations. She was cast after appearing in a multi-episode stint as the conniving revenge-seeking Ingrid Svenson, the Swedish birth mother of Corinne Tate (Diana Canova), on the TV sitcom Soap. (Benson was a spinoff of Soap and shared the same producers.) She also appeared as northern matriarch Maude Hazard in the mini-series North and South in 1985 and again in 1986.
She appeared in many other series beginning in 1957.

TV show brainrot tag
tagged by the gorgeous and talented @a-shakespearean-in-paris  to list some of my top tv shows 💕 thank you! You will mostly learn that I am a sap for period dramas 🤭
1. North & South
My entire freaking soul bleeds for this unrivaled mini series. Nothing else matters but John Thornton and Margaret Hale and the way they ache for each other.
Tumblr media
2. Sanditon
I just finished the last season and I swear, more people need to watch this! It’s incredible! The costumes, the sets, the DRAMA!! There’s cute romances left and right and just so much to love about Sanditon. Highly highly recommend.
Tumblr media
3. Anne with an E
I watched this show while I was going through a really difficult time, and it made a huge impression on me. Coming of age can be something so transformative and heart-warming. You really grow to love all these characters 🥺
Tumblr media
4. The Last of Us
I can’t lie, the story of the last of us has ruled over my emotions for years, and I think they did a great job adapting it into a show, but at the same time it felt like an exact re-hash of the game with very little new content/scenes. Still loved watching Ellie and Joel bond, because that’s what it’s all about.
Tumblr media
5. Stranger Things
What can I say? All of the characters are super charming and have kept me watching for years.
Tumblr media
6. The Summer I Turned Pretty
I usually don’t care about the lives of fictional high schoolers and, ok, the books SUCKED. But the show?? I felt like a teenager again in a good way.
Tumblr media
7. A Discovery of Witches
I remember loving this show, but it’s been a hot minute since I watched it.

TOP SHOWS PART ONE
Okay here’s a list of my top shows, in no particular order, based on rewatchability, acting, cinematography, writing, surprising moments, and overall season by season/series satisfaction
HEARTSTOPPER
Perfect 10/10 A+ emotional fluff serotonin producing GORGEOUSNESS. The casting, writing, directing, acting, music choices, cinematography, and impact could not be improved in any way. I cannot wait for s02!! Queer joy forever 💖💖💖 Nick and Charlie are my children now and need to be protected at all costs.
Tumblr media
SENSE8
One of the most unique, stunning, surprising, and satisfying shows I’ve ever seen. A+ 10/10 would not change anything (except how it got cancelled, fuck off Netflix). ALSO QUEER JOY FOREVER 💕💕💕💕 The Wachowskis are goddesses of film making sorry it’s true I don’t make the rules.
Tumblr media
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
It’s kickass, it’s groundbreaking, it’s funny, it’s campy, it’s sad, and the 90s fashions are ON FUCKING POINT. It’s a classic for a goddamn reason okay??? For a show about supernatural beings it manages to be one of the most human and relatable things I’ve ever watched.
Tumblr media
PEAKY BLINDERS
A show about working class gangsters with a Roma background set in Birmingham England right after WWI?? YES PLEASE. Amazing acting and costume design and a whole lot of ‘what the fuck just happened?!’ moments. Come for Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, stay for Helen McRory as Aunt Polly. Cause she’s a baddaassssss.
Tumblr media
LEVERAGE
Found family found family found family!! A show that manages to take 5 main characters on arcs that end in better places than they started, which is so so refreshing. Incredible acting, and plots that manage to combine humor and gut punches with a slight hint of camp (aka my happy place). Added bonus for calling out capitalism and corruption without seeming too overbearing. 10/10 A+ no notes.
Tumblr media
BLACK SAILS
Technically it’s a prequel to Treasure Island set during the Golden Age of Piracy; realistically it’s a hell of a lot more surprising, heartbreaking, and GAY than that. Another show that manages to make you go ‘what the fuck?!’ at every turn. A+ costumes and cinematography. And the characters themselves are so complex and intriguing; they’re angry and defiant and have a relatable ‘we’re gonna lose this war but we WILL make it an end to remember’ energy. Also Toby Stephens as Captain Flint. I mean. GODDAMN.
Tumblr media
BONES
Probably the most ‘normal’ show on this list but like. IT IS SO GOOODDDD. The cases are well done, the cast of characters is interesting, the music is on point and so poignant, and the finale is satisfying. Do they have some misses along the way? Yeah for sure. It ran for 11 seasons it’s not really a surprise there were some problems. But they also had great representation for an early 2000s show (Cam, a black woman, running the lab, Angela being bisexual), great plot arcs, and some of the best individual television episodes I’ve ever seen (Gravedigger anyone? Judas on a Pole?) Plus these 2. I just love them so much.
Tumblr media
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER
Where do I even start with this one? Cool world building? Check. Awesome animation and design? Check. A wide variety of characters, especially nuanced and non stereotypical female ones? Absolutely! ATLA will make you laugh, cry, and think about the world, all in one episode. Then there’s Zuko. His arc is just one of the best examples of character growth ever seen on TV. I love this show as much as the cabbage merchant loves his cabbages. 10/10 A+.
Tumblr media
NORTH AND SOUTH (BBC)
If you love period dramas but are sick of shows that focus exclusively on upper crust rich people problems, watch this 2004 mini series. It’s based on an 1850s novel by Elizabeth Gaskell and follows the story of a girl who grew up in the countryside in the south of England but then moves to the grittier, darker, more industrial north. There’s in your face poverty, worker’s strikes, political upheaval and a whole lot more. It’s fabulous. Brendan Coyle and Richard Armitage star and let me tell you, RICHARD IS IMMACULATE. It also features the BEST ONSCREEN KISS OF ALL TIME I MEAN JFC LOOK AT THAT JAWLINE I AM DEAD.
Tumblr media
BROOKLYN 99
Aaaaahhhhh this show!! It’s diverse, it’s poignant, it’s clever, it laughs at toxic masculinity, it’s quotable af, it’s a sitcom that proves you don’t have to be an asshole to be hilarious. The ensemble is lovable, the relationships are on point and oh, did I mention it’s HELLA QUEER? 10/10 everyone go watch.
Tumblr media
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Doctor Who
I love particular seasons of it but not every doctor or season soooo I can’t really say it’s a favorite all time overall show. Ninth and Tenth Doctor tho? THOSE ARE MY BOYS.
Merlin
I know I know I know - how is it not a top show when 60% of my blog is Merthur? Idk man. I’ve only watched it once and I really like to live in the fic universe more. Sorry. Maybe I’ll do a rewatch and my feelings will change but until then…🤷🏻‍♀️ I still love you Colin and Bradleyyyyyy.
Good Omens
Another show that I’ve only watched once. I absolutely ADORE the Aziraphale and Crowley dynamic but I don’t really care about the rest of the show or characters? So I can get all the ineffable spouses cuteness I need from fic. I am looking forward to s02 though!
The White Queen
Based on a Philippa Gregory novel, this is another Tudoresque historical drama telling the story of Elizabeth Woodville and the Wars of the Roses. The acting is really good and the pacing well done. I’ve watched it a few times and really enjoyed it.

I wonder if there is anyone of you out there that still remembers the 1994 mini series north & south : Heaven & hell book 3?
I loved the love story between Charles and Willa.it was just so beautiful...
And the romantic love scenes? Why can't they make beautiful and dreamlike love scenes like these anymore?
And this is when mini series from back in the 90s was still exciting and thrilling to watch.
And i am rewatching this masterpiece of a mini series again after 29 years.
I remember watching this on south African TV back in the 90s. Charles and Willias love story made my heart happy. It was just beautiful that it had left me speechless...
I am rewatching this later tonight cos ...yeah my mom (dammit) is still in my brother's old room with her sore knee and that room is my private space, my safe haven i can say. God i just hope that she will be in that room for this week and not in the next week too?
Man i hope and pray that she's back in her room by next week.
So i will just rewatch north & south book 3 again to not stress myself so much...

Multimedia Blog 3 - taylorcassidyj
Taylor Cassidy (@taylorcassidyj on TikTok and Instagram) is a social media content creator and advocate with over 2 million followers on TikTok and over 200K on Instagram. Her content is centered around teaching Black history and spreading Black joy through engaging videos on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. She joined TikTok in 2019 where she began a series called “Fast Black History,” 1-minute videos about African American historical figures. Her following quickly grew amassing over 69 million likes on TikTok. Along with the “Fast Black History” series, she created the “Black Girl Magic Minute,” uplifting influential Black creatives. Cassidy has accomplished so much at the age of 20. She is from St. Louis, MO, where I am from! Growing up, we were in the Little Mermaid Musical together which inspired me to write about her. Cassidy is truly an influential figure of our generation and plans to take her advocacy on screen in films/TV.
In Cassidy’s “Black Girl Magic Minute” TikTok series, she celebrates Black creatives. Cassidy started this segment “to not only give credit back to these Black creators, but to uplift them and let people – even people who aren’t Black – discover new creatives and new, amazing people to follow and support” (Novato). In one discussion we focused on Judy Baca, a muralist who uses digital technology to create designs. She uses these designs to create murals in LA whose purpose goes beyond artistic value. They have social influence and are used as a political tool by representing most of the population who are usually voiceless. Cassidy and Baca are similar in giving a voice to the voiceless through different forms of media. Baca bases her art on people and uses digital technology to turn these ideas into reality, while Cassidy uses technology in a different form to convey her message. By uplifting Black creators, their platform can grow, and they can continue to grow doing what they love. Cassidy hopes to make “Black Girl Magic Minute” into a podcast to dive further into the subject.
As mentioned in our readings and discussions, the Harlem Renaissance was an influential moment in history for African Americans. The Harlem Renaissance was centered around Black pride, like Taylor Cassidy’s content. Post emancipation, many Black people in the south became sharecroppers and tenant farmers. In this position, they were in debt to white “landlords” and therefore in “economic bondage” despite being free (Takaki). Because of this, many Black people were eager to leave the south and find work up north. After a mass influx of Black people from the south, a sense of Black pride was formed in Harlem. Known as “the greatest Negro city in the world,” droves of Black people came from everywhere to experience the culture found in Harlem (Takaki). Black educational and economic success spread throughout the community. This is a typical topic Cassidy would create a “Fast Black History” video on. One of her TikTok videos mentions Glady Bentley, an American blues singer, pianist, and entertainer during the Harlem Renaissance. In the video, Cassidy dresses up as Bentley making it entertaining and educational. As mentioned in the video, “it was argued that [Bentley] was a drag king, but it was more that she dressed more masc to get jobs in Harlem night clubs during the Harlem Renaissance” (Taylor Cassidy). Bentley used her intersecting identities to her advantage so she could showcase her talents. The Harlem Renaissance was an opportunity for African Americans to express and create, similar to Cassidy’s social media content creation.

Map of Amity Park
Tumblr media
So I did a bunch of research and traced over the map the GIW had in DCMH and extended it to try and build a map of Amity Park. I also paid close attention to locations and places named in canon. I am by no means an artist, map maker, photoshop pro, or civil engineer; I just wanted a general reference map for the phandom to use.
Here is where I place Amity Park. We know AP isn’t in Michigan or Wisconsin, but is most likely a day drive away from Madison (Bitter Reunions). AP is a decent sized city of itself, so I can see it being an outskirt of a large city like Chicago. Lancer mentions the Northwestern Testing, and Northwestern University is in Evanston, IL, which is why I placed it where it is.
Tumblr media
LIST OF PLACES (in great detail):
Tumblr media
Every city needs it’s basic services: energy supply, water supply, sewage, and trash/recycling. These of course are located more on the edge of the city, as they need a large amount of space and are typically isolated.
I placed a local airport in the city as well. Typically you would fly out of one of Chicago’s airports anyway, but private planes (Vlad, Mansons, etc.) can take off and land here.
University of Amity Park is located at the north side of the city, and is home to a Nasty Burger location, an LGBT Center, and is probably near a gas station. The blocks surrounding the campus are more student housing.
Near the University, we have the Science Center, Axion Labs, a Mental Institute, and the Museum, as a lot of research from the University would go into those places.
In the more isolated areas, we have the Penitentiary, the abandoned North Mercy Hospital, and the GIW Headquarters.
The Zoo is located on the north side of the park and is also close to the University for research purposes.
The Observatory is also located in a more isolated area, so you can actually see the stars without a bunch of light pollution.
Tumblr media
Going into the center of town, where most things are actually located:
A community college, which is near the internet cafe where Danny and Tucker play games, a gas station, a liquor store, a thrift shop, a Planned Parenthood, Java Jive (the coffee shop), a tech store, and a gym.
We also have a shoe store, the hunting goods store and Guitar Palace that Skulker and Ember take over in Reign Storm, the U-Ship Box Store the Box Ghost takes over, a barber and a hardware store.
There is a hair salon, tanning salon, and nail salon, where Paulina frequents. There is also Elmer’s Pharmacy, a dentist office, a law office, the TV repair store, butcher shop, and pet store (which we see next to each other in an episode), a toy store, and a vet office.
Government buildings include City Hall, a public library, a court house, a DMV, a bus station (for all mass transit in the city), a community center (likely where town halls are located and other smaller events; Ida plays bingo here every week), and a retirement home.
There is also the post office, Amity Park Fire Department, a bank, the 24K Jewelry shop, a nearby ice cream shop, and another Nasty Burger location (this is the one right by Casper High that the trio usually hangs at). Also an animal shelter, a grocery store, and a pizza joint.
Education: there is a preschool and daycare, the elementary school, a playground/park, the middle school (yes, a Beetlejuice reference), and Casper High. Casper High campus also has the track, a fieldhouse, and the football field.
Tumblr media
Moving towards Amity Park Mall:
Bucky’s Music Mega Store, an apartment complex, Amity Park Police Department, a bookstore, doctor clinic, gas station, a Denny’s (where Phight Club happens), Material Grill restaurant, the mini golf course and bowling alley, Freddy Fazbear’s (which is actually a horror video game, but here it’s a kids pizza place like Chuck E. Cheese), a furniture store, a party supply store, and the movie theater (which is Marmel’s Multiplex 22, Amity Park Multiplex, and Googolplex Cinemas...it seems that they go to the same movie theater throughout the series and the names just change, or these could also be other movie theaters in the area (like near the college campus). I just picked Multiplex 22 cause it sounded very mall-y).
Along the interstate, there’s a pawn shop, a publishing house (which somehow prints all 5 of Amity Park’s newspapers), a homeless shelter, the diner, Safe House Motel, a laundromat, the 89¢ Store (a nod to Fanning the Flames), and the car dealership.
Also near the mall is Amity Arena, which hosts concerts, sports events, and other large entertainment events. There is a hotel near both the arena and the hospital (the one that isn’t abandoned and haunted). Towards the outskirts of the hospital, there’s a trailer park; north a few blocks is the TV station, where News 4 is headquartered. There’s also a construction site near Amity Arena, but that kinda went out the window when Undergrowth hit.
Tumblr media
On the other side of town, we have:
A-Mart, a convenience store. I named it like this because it can be like an offshoot of KMart, but A for Amity!
Floody Waters, right off the interstate.
North of Floody Waters, East of Casper High, we have the main residences: the Foley household and only a couple blocks away is Fenton Works.
There’s also another gas station and the Amity Park Radio Station nearby. There’s also a private school near ultra posh Polter Heights, but the A-Listers attend Casper High because the private school doesn’t have a football or cheerleading team.
Tumblr media
Moving into Polter Heights and the surrounding area:
The Polter Heights Golf Course and Country Club are exclusive to those in the neighborhood, as well as their private neighborhood pool; members only.
The Mayor’s Mansion (eventually Vlad’s) is located in here too.
All of the A-Listers’ houses are of course in this neighborhood, as well as Val’s previous residence and the Fenton’s temporary mansion from Living Large (which is of course right next door to Vlad, but with some distance, because the rich are always socially distancing with their big houses).
Polter Heights is adjacent to a bunch of farmland (this is the midwest, we like cows and stuff), and there is a church close by as well.
Just outside Polter Heights is the Manson Mansion (with Sam’s greenhouse). Lucky for Sam, the Skulk and Lurk Books and an occult shop are just down the street. The Manson residence is also near a funeral home and graveyard (how did Sam get so lucky? Oh, because I love her), a synagogue, Mario’s restaurant, and a dry cleaners.
Tumblr media
We get more spacious as we get away from the center of town!
Along the shore of Lake Eerie, there are the docks which are home to many warehouses, including the mattress factory.
Also along the shoreline, there is a pier which doubles as an amusement park (think kinda like Navy Pier in Chicago in comparison) and alongside the pier is the public beach area.
Camp Skull and Crossbones is located on the other side of Lake Eerie, and the fishing area is more on the north side of the lake. Lake Eerie is not one of the Great Lakes, it’s just its own thing in Amity Park.
Back towards the park, we have event grounds space, which is where Circus Gothica is located, as well as the Meet Swap and flea market. Basically whatever rotating event hits town, it comes right here. Just next door is a theatre (for music, opera, Broadway, etc.). There is also the third and final Nasty Burger location in AP.
This is all surrounding the actual park Amity Park, which has a pond, a big fountain, and also hosts that really big hill that overlooks City Hall.
On the south side, across the bridge and over the interstate is Elmerton, where Val currently is resided.
All the other blocks are filled with more office buildings, apartment complexes, houses, and businesses, but all of the main places are already listed and placed.
Finally, yes, I did name some places for myself and my friends because they’re great and they deserve it. These include Steph’s (mine) Occult Shoppe, Nick’s Liquor Emporium (@ecto-american), Lexx R Us Toystore (@lexosaurus and appropriately named after the Lexxpocalypse), Laz’s Law Offices LLC (@kinglazrus), Dee’s Dentistry (@qlinq-qhost), Lily’s Looks Thrift Store (@dannyphantomisameme), Ceci’s Funeral Home (@ceciliaspen), Vic’s Amusement Park (@babypop-phantom), and Reverie Books (@wastefulreverie).
