not a father-figure but worse { Siegbert & Henry
Reply to Siegbert's post:
"I promise, there is nothing to worry about. Mitama makes me incredibly happy." His father warned him to keep his close relationships secret, but Siegbert couldn't help it that time. "I don't believe we've met. I am Siegbert. What is your name?"
[Henry, Bloodthirsty and Heart Hungry]
"Oh, so Siegbert's your name, huh? Sounds reaaaaal fancy!" He whirled a knowledgeable finger, spouting steam out of his kettle. "I'm Henry, ahaha~ Been through a couple of knocks with Mitama in the past, but it was mostly 'cause I'm a little prone to bleeding. And death."
"What's your deal? Got a sword, a shield, and a duty too heavy? Got a curse on your family blood line?" He began to laundry list the usual pains of being alive. "I can help you with the latter, but the former? You'd be on your own."

Inspiriert by one of my other posts but a shadow and four version of this:
Because four's relationship somehow can look even worse than Ravio x Legend can ever be imagined as
Like four is the bad guy of the relationship if we use the same logic of creative explaining while completely changing the context and shadow is not that much better
Like four just straight up telling an abridged version of his relationship (both platonic and romantic can work because it is messed up beyond repair)
And not realizing that it sounds messed up from such a basic and underexplained perspective
Like he tried to kill his partner
But then he realized how naive he was he decided to manipulate him and gain his trust
Then he attacked him with a deadly weapon (when the four swords hit shadow)
Because he betrayed him and had no use for him anymore because he told him everything he wanted to know
Then his ex(friend but the chain doesn’t need to know) flipped out and tried to burn him in a messed up witch burning way
But he managed to save himself
While his ex attempted a murder suicide attempt (destroying the mirror was a literal murder suicide)
Killing another person alongside himself (Both Vaati and shadow died)
And that was the moment when four realized that he was a bad person and used dark magic to bring him back to life (violating several rules of nature and morality at once)
Then after a few years managed to bring his ex back
And tried everything to fix what he did by giving him absolutely anything he could want (including committing crime together and expensive gifts and literally anything shadow wants)
Then left him (linked universe happenes)
The chain is contemplating hitting him because that is definitely a disturbing situation that has no right happening but also he seems to regret everything he did and seems to try and fix it (but they will be at odds for a while)
When they finally appear at his Hyrule shadow accidentally makes everything worse by saying things like :
He doesn’t let me out the basement during the day
He killed my father figure (Vaati)
He is a wanted criminal who has enough bounty on his head to be executed for it
And that he is much happier now that he actually tries to make the relationship work better

listen. season 4 flint & eleanor make me unwell... like eleanor literally knew this man since she was a teenager. they've been acquaintances, partners, enemies. when their small party encamps in miranda's house, they are somehow all of that at once. he is piracy and she used to be nassau. she strayed so far from what she wanted and she's dying alone in the dirt but no she isn't - flint's there. do you get it. Do You Get It

i really don't understand how anyone who loves jude can hate taryn. i mean they're cut from the same cloth. they are both consumed by desire, by want, by longing, and both do cruel things to get to where they want because they feel like they're less, they both feel like they constantly have to prove their worth to everyone around them. they're also both haunted by the murder of their parents and their actions are shaped by that huge event, it's only that jude focuses on aspect of it that is the fact of the brutal murder and taryn focuses on the love that caused it all to happen.

Zuko’s stealing habits: Additional observation
I have already talked about Zuko’s stealing habits in second Book and came to the conclusion that, narrative and visually speaking, he stole food and money primarily for Iroh’s sake. Even stealing the ostrich horse from the kind Earth family that fed Zuko and Iroh seen at the beginning of the season (something I did not include in the previous part) was done for pragmatic reasons rather than out of spite or for fun. As in, the ostrich horse gave them additional advantage to avoid or run away from pursuit. Iroh was not happy about Zuko’s choice but he ultimately accepted it and never again scorned his nephew for taking that animal - the later episode showed the ostrich horse was vital for their escape from Rough Rhinos.
Interestingly, Zuko wasn’t that much prone to stealing and/or appropriating someone’s property in the previous season either. Especially not for a petty reason. The three examples (or as close to stealing it could be) that comes to my mind happened in:
Avatar Return, when Zuko took Aang’s staff that the young airbender used in fight against him and then offered willingly as a token of his surrender in exchange for leaving Katara and Sokka’s people in peace.
Tumblr media
On his ship, the Banished Prince said:
This staff will make an excellent gift for my father.
What A) shows he didn’t think of keeping the last airbender’s weapon for himself and B) is a similar gesture done by Iroh, who sent little Zuko a knife of an Earth Kingdom's General that surrendered to him during the siege of Ba Sing Sai.
The Waterbender Scroll, during confrontation between captured Katara and Zuko:
Zuko: Tell me where he is and I won't hurt you or your brother. Katara: Go jump in the river! Zuko: Try to understand. I need to capture him to restore something I've lost, my honor. Perhaps in exchange I can restore something you've lost. Katara: My mother's necklace! How did you get that? Zuko: I didn't steal it, if that's what you're wondering. Tell me where he is.
And yes, Zuko did not steal the necklace, as Katara lost it when she helped imprisoned earthbenders to free themselves and Zuko found it in ruins of the workcamp. But he was willing to use it as a bargain chip and later, to track Aang with the help of June. From this episode he knew the necklace meant a great deal to Katara but for him it was a tool to fulfill his mission.
The Blue Spirit, we can assume Zuko, as the Blue Spirit, was infiltrating Fire Natin’s stronghold to steal information about Avatar and/or Zhao’s plans, as said knowledge was denied to the banished prince. And mind you, the first time we saw Blue Spirit at the fortress was long before Zhao’s people managed to capture Aang.
Tumblr media
During the first season, Zuko may not have a strong moral opposition to destroying other people’s villages or pursuing Aang from one end of the world to another, or keeping Katara’s necklace but in general he does not steal unless it is necessary. He does not even take trophies from defeated enemies and/or attacked villages (Water Tribe and Kyoshi Island were left immediately once Aang either surrender or escape) with the exception of Aang’s staff that Zuko wished to give his father, no doubt to earn his respect. Which is something fitting the theme of the second Book.
But the most ironic thing about Zuko’s stealing habits? Iroh’s reaction. Our dear uncle Iroh was not happy that his nephew has no problem stealing - and is stealing to either provide them food and comfort to the level Iroh was used to (book II) or to fulfill his mission of capturing Avatar (book I). I mean, that is a reaction we should expect from a responsible adult and the fatherly figure, right?  However in "Bato of the Water Tribe", Iroh himself was shown stealing perfumes while everyone was busy fighting
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just because it smelled nice and there was no one to stop him. And from “Waterbender Scroll” episode we know Iroh had money to buy himself nice things on whim.
Tumblr media
But nope, stealing from people that he helped Zuko and June to attack is all right yet he will be upset that his nephew is desperately trying to please his father by capturing Avatar by any means AND Iroh, by providing him food and comfort the older man was used to.

“Joel was wrong it should be Ellie’s choice”
Yeah, it should be Ellie’s choice. Because she’s a child and this is everything her journey has been building up to. She should know all the risks that could come with and what it ACTUALLY (apparently, considering they did no scans or nothing???) takes to make a cure. She should be told everything. But if they kept her alive, she’d probably ask questions that the fireflies would not be willing (or able) to answer, hence keeping her under and not telling her. They were scared. They didn’t know what the hell they were doing
But think, for a second, that he’s the not the one who ‘took it away’ in the first place. The fireflies took Ellie and knocked Joel out. They did not tell her what this would entail. They got her under, somehow, and had no intention of waking her up again. They took away her choice and any agency she had WAY before Joel did. They were going to murder her in cold blood with NO certainties
Is what Joel did morally wrong? Yeah, I mean he killed a ton of people, that’s terrible no matter what way you slice it
But that is his child. I have little kids in my life that I love more than I can comprehend. You know what I’d do if their life was on the line like that? Whatever I had to to save their lives. You expect Joel to just sit there and say “yeah, go on ahead”??? Joel would not do that, not after what they’ve gone through and what they’ve become. He wouldn’t do it because he is a father. Because his child means more to him than some world that’s already twenty years deep into the infection. He loves her more than a world full of raiders, slavers, and cannibals that a cure couldn’t change the ways of
Marlene wouldn’t have compromised with him. He wouldn’t have compromised with Marlene unless they woke Ellie up and were able to run scans and things and Ellie agreed to let them do things that would NOT kill her. But that’s not how it went, so it came down to the extreme. Kill them all to save her. And really, you can’t blame him

Ep 6!!!
#Biggest take away from the episode: @fandom Dazai can't be Atsushi's father figure if he himself says Atsushi's father figure is the–#headmaster check your facts#Second biggest take away from the episode: the worst thing the headmaster transmitted Atsushi ought to be the terrible haircut choices#Mmmmhhh I could spend another whole tag rant to talk about how much I dislike the writing of Lucy in this episode 😭😭😭#But I worry I'll start being perceived as someone who hates women if I do so I won't.#(But let me just say. I really really *really* despite the “what women [alien and mysterious beings] want is hard to understand and–#impossible to decipher and more often than not they will say the exact opposite of what they mean” stereotype.#Like I hate it to an intimate extent.)#I quite like Kyouka's backstory!! I feel like she's the most fleshed out female character with a compelling character arc and personality.#I really like her. Lucy and Atsushi working as make-do parents (very largerly intended. More like siblings who are dating but that sounds–#even worse) was very cute. And I appreciate how the events seemed to set off Atsushi's own reflection on parenthood.#The same doesn't happen in the manga since the chapters are placed in a different order.#Overall this is just an episode that when I was reading the manga for the first time solidified my understanding that me and b/sd have#RADICALLY different views on the world. But now that after three years and having long come to terms with it.#I suppose it's just something that's there.#Ususal notes about the animation just for talks. The lack of budget really shows this episode and in the second half in particular.#It's especially noticeable in backgrounds that are just... Not the stunning backgrounds that usually make b/sd's anime strong point.#So in turn the lack of details comes off as twice as evident as it normally would :/#The whole Atsushi / Tanizaki exchange at the start of the chapter until the headmaster's identity is revealed is completely devoid–#of host which has me just?? What happened here??? A track slowly building up tension is an almost automatic choice I'm just like.#What happened. If it was a deliberate choice it was a very bad one in my humble opinion#On a more positive note I really like whoever drew the characters “background appearence” this episode eheh#(you know‚ the more stylized one when they're not on close up)#And the drawings at the end of the episode daz/atsu twilight scene were good. Kyouka's flashback was also good.#That's it :)#random rambles#Oh yeah rip chapter 39 ss/kk scene ig :///

Do you have any thoughts on Dadan as Luffy's mother's figure? Anytime the topic of Luffy's "BIO" mom comes up in discussions the fandom LOVE to use the excuse well "We won't ever see Luffy's mother because Dadan already fits that role. Listen I love Dadan's character but some people are putting her on the pedestal like she is the best mother of all time, when she was literally taken by gunpoint by garp's to take care of Luffy NOT to raise him but to make sure he doesn't die. (literally the bare minimum)
Now I remember back in 2008 a fan asked Oda about Luffy's bio mom and if she would ever appear in the series and he gave the description of Luffy's bio mother she would be mean, strict, middle-aged, and not the girly type (and then starts talking about Robin who has strong ties to crocodile) and I think the question was to describe the ideal characteristics of Luffy's bio mom. Dandan just happens to fit that archetype that Oda was talking about but a fem crocodile would also fit that description like a T as well especially if the question was about Luffy's bio mom.
So if Luffy can have two dads then why can't he have two moms. Well past tense he "Used" to have two moms. I also find it hilarious how Dadan and Crocodile are both heavy Chainsmokers, Mean, and look very manly. Do you think I'm reaching with this?
Okay this had been bothering me for a while because I could not actually find this "comment from Oda" in the SBS, and because there's so many "Oda said this" and "Oda said that"s that I was starting to believe the "Oda's description of Luffy's mom is just Dadan" was just another case of Fandom Mandela Effect
But after some digging around, I did find the actual source for the original comment; it's from an AMERICAN Shounen Jump Q&A with Oda, from the 2009 December issue. This Reddit post has all the questions Oda answered, but here's the relevant one
Tumblr media
So uh, now that I got to see the actual Q&A and confirm its existence (so it's not just hearsay)
Because Oda immidiately comments on how he doesn't really focus on blood-relatives in One Piece (referencing Robin's mother being the first blood-relative he had actually drawn in a flashback), I do think he is exclusively describing Dadan here. Because Dadan is Luffy's only mother, even if she isn't that by blood, and why would Oda bother to bring that (blood-connections not being necessary) up if it wasn't relevant to Luffy's mother.
Another thing is the timing of this interview along with that "I'm still thinking about this". For context, One Piece would have just started Marineford in 2009, so this Q&A would've been published quite some time before the ASL Flashback where we'd get introduced to Dadan. Another thing is that Oda did originally intend for Dadan to be a man, so that comment would reflect on how Oda might've been still somewhat unsure what Dadan would end up being like (in case he changed his mind again).
Not to mention Oda would have to be misgendering Crocodile in this description if it was about him, which Oda really wouldn't do, but also the description doesn't even match Crocodile, we know what he would look like on estrogen. Like the way Oda drew fem!Croc in that SBS is very much his standard conventionally attractive woman, and here he explicitly states "there's no way that she's a beautiful mother". And Croc doesn't have permed hair, like ever.
So no, between the misgendering and the way the description doesn't even match him, I do not think Oda was "lowkey also talking about Crocodile" here at all. Luffy only has one mom and that's Dadan. And either Luffy has an irrelevant (probably dead) bio-mom or two absentee bio-dads.

Imagining a parallel world where DETECTIVE SHIBAYAMA is in Ghost Game. Don’t mind me. I can imagine this big bizarre man wanting fresh breath in his opera VIP life. So, he discovers weird stuff is happening in Tokyo, decides to embrace HIS TRUE SELF (LMAOOOOO) and gets out of home wearing the silliest disguises ( his professional notepad in pockets, remember ep 3 ahahaha). YET, he finds out kids are dealing with this mess and they are true detective of paranormal and horror. And they are skilled. Unlike him🤣🤣, because he truly thinks policemen will give him information if he gives them chocolate RIP.
As witty as she is, and since she’s always on her phone AND his disguises are too ridiculous to be taken seriously, Ruli obviously knows who he is and she’s always like, “Aren’t you thay tenor who fell off the stage last week????”
Junpei: 😵‍💫
Bonus that he shows up constantly making cuffs spin like Zenigata , (because let him reference every important detective from Japan) ,until he gets thrown away by the Digimon of the day in every episode like TR >>>
Tbh, besides this trash of mine, I just think Ruli and Junpei need to meet in a crossover and have to investigate together, indeed, she has to investigate alone. He just gives chocolate to Digimon and Ruli uses him as a decoy LOL.
