Hi!
I love your work!! Your art is very pretty. Do you have a specific idea of how old everyone is ? Do you lean more towards canon or do you have your own dates in mind ? If don’t wanna a answer it’s ok!
Hope u have a nice day
(Remember to drink water!)
hiiii nonnie!!! thank you for checking in, and im happy u like the stuff i put out!! when it comes to ages, it's difficult to answer sometimes bc of the way professor tolkien's timeline is-- it makes gauging one singular place where most of the cast can be compared something that makes my tired brain go 😵🤧🤕 but i love the prompt youve given! and thus heres my attempt at it
with most of my tolkien stuff, i always try to stick to canon wherever possible emphasis is on try lmao and the topic of ages is one such place. i do make exceptions to the Professor's canon sometimes for a few reasons: 1) i like some of the scrapped ideas in his drafts, or 2) i just prefer other options. with ages, i think the only charas with canon-established ages i deviated from are fingolfin, finrod, turgon, and aredhel. i try to keep cases like these minimal tho, so i hope it doesn't bother anyone too much... 👉👈
anyways i figured just dropping a list of numbers would be kinda boring to look at so heres an illustrated guide to what the ~rough~ ages of the finweans are in my head whenever i write or draw. Y.T. 1495 (the year Finwe dies) is the controlled medium ive used to enable a fair comparison of the Finweans
note: "born Y.T. xxx" means this is the canon date of birth listed on Tolkien Gateway. "est. born [xxx]" means this is a noncanon estimate:
Tumblr media
the First Age gets a lot more muddled from there due to the hullaballoo of everything going on, so ill only be including the doriathrim and a few other denizens of nargothrond:
Tumblr media
it's mostly the older elves that are more undefined/vague with their ages (i.o.w. others like elwing, earendil, the peredhil twins, and most Men all have set dates of birth), so they're all i'll be doing for now. but it's that vagueness which makes hcing all the more enjoyable, isn't it! plus since we’re on this subject, under the cut are just a few headcanons and musings ive had that i wanted to put somewhere 😙
Finarfin and Earwen were born within months of each other! Finwe and Olwe made a Really Big Deal out of when they found out their wives were pregnant at the same time. As a result, the two were often sent on many playdates with each other to “bolster healthy relations” between the Noldor and the Teleri. It wasn’t an arranged marriage situation, but I like to think they were goofy for each other from the start… Resulting in the two eventually getting married as soon as they came of age, the fastest out of all of Finwe’s kids to do so.
The reason the Ambarussa are significantly younger than the other Finweans (especially the Feanorians-- there’s a 100 Valian year gap between them and Curufin alone!) is because I imagine they were accidental babies that even Feanor didn’t expect to conceive. too bad morgoth said "its morgin time!" and started Messing Things Up shortly afterwards.....
Anaire was Lalwen's good friend long before she married Fingolfin; they met through Lalwen who wingmanned Fingolfin the whole time. i like think Anaire'd be the best out of all the wives at keeping good, healthy bonds with all the women of her family :DD
luthien's potential 姐姐/big sis dynamic with all the younger doriathrim elves is something i daydream about a lot 😌 but sometimes the fact that she's older than finarfin keeps me up at night
this has been really fun, so thanks again for asking-- annnd yessir, i am chugging water as i write this so you better be doing the same ❤️ have a great start to your week!

iris isn’t canonically related to leon and hop im pretty sure??? that was from a twitter edit for pokemas right
Honestly, I have no idea??
And like sorry not to go on a rant but I have Opinions but there's so much pokemon content at this point that I just don't bother keeping up with all of it anymore, cuz tbh I've seen the anime and games contradict each other and themselves enough that like eh, if they can't even keep it straight why should we have to?? Cuz yeah tbh I don't think anyone should have to keep up with lore from side games and all the different manga and the anime all spread over 25 years just to engage with fandom. It's like Star Trek, it's just too much. So I don't nitpick the little stuff, especially if I just wanna play around with some fun HCs, I just follow what is in the text of the game I'm riffing off of and have fun, that's what matters.
So all that to say, as nothing in the main-line games confirms or denies it, I shall continue my HCing, and tbh even if it did ehhhhhh AUs exist for a reason.
Edit: not upset with you anon or anyone and there's nothing wrong with people wanting to keep up with All The Lore, thats valid and I know plenty of cool people who have fun with that, I just don't think it should be something everyone has to do just to partake in the fandom.

Realized that there’s only two of my super big touhou faves (Junko and Sanae) who I strictly interpret as cis-women everyone else of my big faves I either see trans or enby OR I don’t have a strict gender headcanon for

you know, it's weird how much people complain about braime shippers only caring about brienne when it comes to her relationship w jaime and treat her like she's just part of jaime but the reality is that braime shippers are the only ones talking about brienne??? most brienne stuff comes from jb shippers??? like no one objects to sansa/dany/cersei being discussed as romantic heroines and ship her with the most damaged men but brienne of all people is singled out as being "too good" for jaime and what an injustice it is that grrm didn't make her a lesbian. why?
Well first off I want to state clearly that wlw Brienne is great and to anyone who enjoys reading, hcing and shipping her as such: you don’t need anyone’s permission to do that. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a dick. There are some great wlw Brienne fan works around fandom, sometimes by people who couldn’t give less of a shit about JB, and all power to them tbh.
That said, there is also a well-observed pan-fandom tendency to call a character a lesbian to actually just write off her sexuality altogether. It’s the fans who don’t want to talk about that character, her love life, or the women around her - they just want to push aside any discussion of her desires in-text by saying actually they lie elsewhere, somewhere they can’t be bothered to discuss or engage with. It’s done quite often to women considered ‘in the way’ of mlm ships, but also plenty with Brienne because apparently stating disinterest in her romantic plot line isn’t enough, you have to insist it’s not even there - nothing is there, in fact. She’s just a lesbian, end of discussion. Like, ok?? Tell me more???
But nope, they never do. Brienne’s just handed a label and nothing else. And that’s not transformative, that’s reductive. That’s shutting down a conversation, not starting one.
Anyway, there isn’t enough Brienne content in fandom, and I would love if the people who complained about JB fandom’s works would contribute something if they love her so much. There are a lot of people who don’t care about JB in any big way who regularly produce amazing Brienne content (love u all), but they’re not the people who complain about JB fandom - it’s always the people who don’t post about her at all.
Also, in my experience JB fandom produces the largest output of Brienne content (sans Jaime) of everyone. She’s regularly left out of the conversation in wider fandom, but she’s always at the centre in JB fandom. So I think we must be doing something right lmao

hi sorry for talking about my oc x canon naruto shit again i just need to rant. man i want to get back on Cherp and do a plotty rp about them bc i think it could be really cool and i’d love to see what another person thinks could be cool for a story involving that but man. first of all, the obvious issue of the general consensus of oc x canon ships is that its Bad™️. i usually wouldn’t care that much about that if there wasn’t a second issue- second issue being my oc is a woman, and people are REALLY aggressive about hcing the character i ship her with as gay. not because he actually is or is coded to be either, he’s not coded to be anything, we are given absolutely nothing about his relationship preferences and orientation. anything is free game with him. and i don’t have an issue with people having that hc even if i personally hc him as bisexual, people can have whatever hc they want. but what i do have an issue with is one of my last experiences on Cherp being someone making a whole separate prompt passive aggressively subtweeting (for lack of a better word) mine bc in mine i was shipping him with someone who was afab (not even a cis woman, they just happened to be afab) and apparently that is wrong and laughable bc either you ship him with a man or no one at all. which i mean, i’m not surprised especially bc the naruto fandom is kinda notorious for being misogynistic and aggressive about keeping the gross mean women away from their uwu precious boys but it’s still extremely frustrating and uncomfortable to hear esp as a fem aligned person and a bisexual person bc that’s unfortunately not an uncommon reaction to a bi hc or a woman-aligned character being anywhere near a dude in this fandom. idk it just makes me weary and disheartened. (and again i am stressing that i don’t care if ppl hc this character as gay, what bothered me is the fact that someone went out of their way to make a whole prompt that non discreetly was passive aggressively subtweeting me about it)— and i know i shouldn’t care and should just go on with my shit but like. it’s hard to not be discouraged and feel insecure about it to a degree when you feel like everyone is laughing at you and judging you for something harmless that you enjoy and feel comforted by
Oh yea, fandom is REALLY bad about women in many cases. It sucks! Anyone fem-aligned is considered like ‘Bad’ or ‘In the way’. It sucks majorly.
All I can say is keep on truckin’ and doing your thing.

what's your take on nb and butch lesbians hcing male characters as trans women? men are closer to how i present (as a nb butch) and so that's generally why i'll say a canonically male character is a lesbian, but i'm also afab and recognize how that makes it easier for me to present as a lesbian, nb or otherwise, and don't want to continue doing this/making jokes about it if it's disrespectful. also, if this ask is a bother, feel free to ignore it--i totally understand this isn't like, your job.
If we’re talking a trans woman butch lesbian, then sure. As a trans woman, she’s trustworthy, and if she feels a canon male character’s worthy of headcanoning as a trans woman, she’s probably got her reasons. Doesn’t mean someone who isn’t a trans woman should necessarily piggyback on that, because they wouldn’t be doing so with an informed perspective, not unless there’s a broader pattern of trans women HCing the character as a trans woman.
If we’re talking someone assigned female at birth, then I would say that this is being done for the wrong reasons. If you ID more with a male character, that’s perfectly alright, but there’s no need to rope trans women into it. You could just leave them as men.
If it’s just about presentation, change the way female characters present accordingly. Like, I’m confused how that’s not the solution that immediately comes to mind. I don’t understand how a person can say they like a way a guy character looks, and come to the conclusion that they’ll just make him a trans woman so they can see themselves in the character better. I don’t get how the first impulse is to equate trans women with cis men, and not make a shift in presentation/expression of an existing woman character. Or, I DO get how it can happen, because cissexism makes these sort of decisions so rooted in common sense and instinct that people don’t even think twice about them. It becomes the easy solution, because of course a person will jump to HCing a man as a trans woman due to gender-related expression/presentation when they connect trans women with men, or at least overwhelmingly more with men than with other women.
If you absolutely have to have the character be a woman for whatever reason, I’d honestly prefer you rock a genderbend/cisswap. At least then you wouldn’t be directly equating trans women with cis men, even if similar cissexist underpinnings would be guiding the alteration. Still transphobic, but nothing that could pretend to masquerade as trans-positivity like trans HCs often are positioned as.
And this is all, of course, assuming the shift of the character into a woman has some manner of good faith behind it, even if misguided and flawed. I will say that I am a little more cautious and suspicious when it comes to instances like this because I’ve seen similar issues with certain cis wlw and afab NB folks using trans women’s bodies as vehicles for a variety of fantasies and introspection-avoidance and whatnot via the G!P (girl penis) trope in fan works.
There’s a distressingly common pattern of trans women being positioned in deeply cissexist ways that…to simplify maybe to the point of some inaccuracy, but I’ve already written tomes on this matter already, I won’t retread those tracks…cast us as men who are conditionally treated as women.
There’s a lot of cis wlw struggling with comp het who use us in their erotica as the stand in for the male lover, and fill us with all the romanticized and eroticized toxic masculinity, letting us put on the illusion of womanhood until the sexual content hits, and then we’re the ‘hot alpha stud’ reaming into the cis wlw character with our over-sized engorged penises, often pumping them full of cum (and also quite often getting them pregnant). That ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to unprocessed heteronormativity, compulsory heterosexuality, cissexism, etc. and when that baggage can be draining to deal with, it’s an easier sell for folks to indulge in the thrill of taboo and fulfilling a twisted form of the conditioning they were give, especially if they’ve got a strict and homophobic religious upbringing.
Related to the above, there’s a lot of trans men and afab NB folks who see us as some kind of ideal midway point between men and women. Where we get to exist as women, at least in bearing the status of women and mental image of some famous actress or character, but appearing (in some physical ways, at least, largely bone structure and genitals), behaving, and functioning as men. They have a familiar physical form they can see themselves in, but with a penis tacked on as a means of distancing the character from womanhood and sources of dysphoria, to make them the ‘best of both worlds’ in a sense.
I shouldn’t have to explain to you how deeply cissexist and transmisogynistic these sort of instances are, or how harmful it is to be viewed through such a fetishistic lens, and to be represented in such a harmful and inauthentic way. I’ll admit, I usually come across cis butch lesbians upset at the mere notion  of having their butchness equated with maleness, who hate when butch lesbians are represented as essentially a man. Like the common critique goes, there’s no “man” of the relationship between two women…with lesbians especially, the point is that they’re both women or woman-aligned, and neither are men. And when people primarily HC canon men as trans women, and rarely (if ever) HC canon women as trans women, they’re doing that exact thing, positioning us as men, equating us to men in everything but the most surface-level messaging.
And that sort of thing might not always be behind the kind of trans headcanons you’re describing. But it’s a persistent theme behind people HCing canon men as trans women, and being a non-trans woman butch lesbian doesn’t eliminate those issues from being in play. There are reasons why people jump to the decisions they make when it comes to our representation. Even if it might seem innocuous to you or others, there are currents underneath our consciousnesses that pull people in certain directions when faced with multiple ways to accomplish their goals. Cissexism is one that nearly everyone struggles with mightily, or has struggled with mightily in the past prior to working at unlearning it. Transmisogyny is one that most folks assigned female at birth don’t really consider at all until prompted with critique relating to it.
Either way, there’s no harm in trying to get a handle on why that urge arises to HC men as trans women, particularly under the reasoning you provided. And while you and others who have had similar motivations in the past are putting in the work,  maybe focus on HCing canon women as trans women if you ever feel the urge for a trans woman HC

Conversation
A Really Important Chapter
CaraBanned:
So let's see...how did the last dream end? With Kysme jokingly saying "that totally makes me wanna kiss you" and Liyah just going "Well, why haven't you?" not so jokingly...
I assume there wouldn't be a real action taken right now? Instead, Aaliyah just...turns her head back towards the sky, silently. "I kind of mean it, Kysme. Why haven't you kissed me yet?" And there was silence, or at least a certain type of white noise in which you know somebody is talking, but the words fall on deaf ears. (I imagine Kysme replies dumbly, "What do you mean", or a variation of that)
" Actually, no, I have a better question- do you think there could ever be anything between us? I don't mean anything casual or like friends with benefits sort of shit. Could you see us being more than friends, the meaningful way?" No white noise, only silence. Aaliyah probably huffs, her face feeling kind of hot on account of being embarrassed. She shouldn't have brought this up, but oh well, it's already up. She might as well continue. So she does. "You don't gotta lie to me or anything, coddle my feelings or some shit. I just wanna know! And I'm not trying to force anything on you, because I don't really know how I feel about you either. I know that I care about you at least, and sometimes i mix feelings up within myself. I just want things to be clear. So..." She'd blow a strand of hair out of her face with a sigh. "Yeah."
There, she said it. Now all she has to do is wait.(edited)
And that's when things got unclear because how the fuck am i supposed to figure out meaningful dialogue for kysme by myself-
Memphis-Rex:
My girl.
//Clutches chest
CaraBanned:
LMAO MEMPHIS
Memphis-Rex:
SHE JUST LAID IT OUT STRAIGHT AND BARE IN ONE SHOT.
The bravery-
CaraBanned:
GOD YEAH tbh I think the whole journey of this dreamscape just...came from that talk a long time ago? Me asking you if you think that kysme could toy with the fact that the two could be something more? (Rightly named in the blog "something more") basically just liyah putting her heart out on her sleeve all vulnerable and what not and trusting kysme to be serious with her for a second.
if only I could be like that in real life tho, shitttt
Memphis-Rex:
I feel serious Kysme would be silent a lot since he's actually taking time to chew over his words before spitting them out. So yeah those silences are something-
CaraBanned:
Oh gosh, glad that was right on the mark then. Don't take too long though, Kysme. Liyah might start feeling real silly, getting up and trying to brush it off like
Memphis-Rex :
And hmmmm. I feel like he might counter with a question first. After a tense moment he relaxes back into the grass, staring at the sky as well. "I don't know. I don't usually feel this way about people either. Am I even worth a genuine effort at something more? I fuck up so easily."
In that brief moment his tough guy persona slips aside, and you can see his own insecurity of losing things he cares about and his fears of being emotional.
Maybe, for once, his voice sounds gentle.
Kysme is fully aware of how shitty he can be. Sometimes he can't help it. In a way, he doesn't want to be the one who hurts her.
Would he be able to forgive himself for such a thing.
CaraBanned:
Oh, hey Memphis?
Fuck you???
This hurts more than it should?? Vunerable Kysme????ouch???
Lmao you can sleep now though if needed, you'll be rewarded a nice piece of HC. Thank you for your efforts.
CaraBanned:
His response would make liyah do a double take-turning her head to watch him again, her face obviously surprised by his change of tone. Wow. Just wow. Imagine her mouth opening to form words, though not being able to really say anything at first. Just studying his face.
"You're worth it."
Not a general, safe, 'everyone is worth it', or a shrug and wishy-washy kind of deliverance. It would be said with a quiet kind of conviction, like she actually means it. Because she does. And she smiles a bit at that, fondly. "Trust me, Kysme. I've been through the ringer a couple times with this kind of shit. Fucking up comes with the playing field- don't be so hard on yourself."
And I can see her doing something sweet, like reaching out and grabbing a hold of kysme's hand, gently so. Something to know that she's there, that she hears him. "But someone else's words probably mean nothing when your mind is convinced. Maybe you have to convince yourself that youre worth it, yeah?" She'd sigh, still her hand on top of his, a comfortable sort of silence.
Memphis-Rex:
There's gonna be a pause as he relishes the sensation of her hands on his. You know with how often he takes her hand jokingly to stare at its glistening surface, it's probably the first time she held his hand of her own accord. He'd bite his lip, say something like "I'll work on it." Another moment. Then, a careful movement as to not crush the arm that was previously holding his hand, he rolls over to lie on his side, closer to her, propping himself up on one elbow. There's this intense look in his candy colored eyes as he gazes down upon her face, and this time he doesn't hide it (recap-- the time he'd get distracted looking at her while she talks about movies). He's just taking it all in, up close, straightforwardly. "...But we can change one thing first." He says, referring to the earlier question of why he hasn't kissed her yet. And---
(ok if Aaliyah isn't down with this we can always change it XD)(edited)
Memphis-Rex:
Pt. 2--- Hypothetically speaking, if they do indeed get together, I feel nothing too much will change about their dynamics? They still have their silly banters and teasing, but finally they're not repressing their feelings so it feels more..liberating? To show some act of affection.
And I'm not saying Kysme becomes perfect boyfriend material immediately. He still makes her eyes roll to the sky with his stupidity. ("Shit, he's the biggest dumbass in the world but he's my dumbass" suddenly crosses my mind)
But there are some subtle changes in the way he acts now.(edited)
Is she going to feel bothered by his habit of occasionally sleeping with strangers (seeing her past with another pretty boy cough cough)? Cause I think the amount of times he fools around will dwindle if he's in a relationship but habits/hobbies die hard...He would try to be transparent about the matter though.
CaraBanned:
(I FUCKING FELL ALSEEP WAITING FOR THIS. GOD. FUCKING. DAMNIT.)
(First of all aaliyah is down yes of course the fuck you think memphis //still reading/)
Memphis-Rex:
(HAHAHA)
(And you woke up?! Now?!)
(also doesn't hurt to double check lel)
CaraBanned:
(LOL my body must have realized that I was missing straight up PERFECT QUALITY HCING)
(And true! Okay hold on while I respond something good.)
Oh gosh, your respond to the HC kind of like, feels like the perfect end already, but I will add on one thing to it- the idea of Aaliyah's heart thumping faster and faster as she realizes what exactly kysme is about to do. A loud thump, thump, thump pounding against her ears. Her eyes growing wider and her heart jumping at her throat, because holy shit...is he really gonna do it? Is he really going to do it? and when he does do it, its like something clicks in place with her head. Something nice and tender and a little scary. She'd close her eyes and sink into the kiss almost immediately, moving her hands up to cup his cheeks and hoping to god that that burning sensation comes soon- it would be safe to assume that she herself has been guilty of wondering how it would feel on her lips, sue her. (If it does come soon then she's probably left breathless and panting and if kysme asks if she needs a second she just goes "Fuck no." She was waiting for this kiss, even if she didnt think she was ever going to get it. (stay tuned for pt.2)
And I was gonna say that too, tbh! Like...they didn't need much to shift at all- theyve always been pretty comfy with each other and to the outside viewer it probably doesnt look like anything at all has changed unless they spot some nuances (like couch hand holding, aaliyah not complaining when the guy touches her, even if he grabs her by the waist or something, her sitting on his lap while watching a movie, etc) It just kind of...comes naturally. Liberating, as you say. Just...everything is right for once. (Also don't mind me but I totally wouldn't mind if this became non-hypothetical, if ya know what I mean, hueh hueh. //rubs my grubby raccoon hands together/).
The stupidity becomes endearing in a way, exactly as you say ("my big pink dumbass").
No, I don't think she's going to be bothered by it if he's honest about it (and as long as he saves his sweetest parts for her, you know? Like don't go confiding in strangers when you have a perfectly good girlfriend here to cuddle with.) The issue that destroyed her and Samael's relationship, besides the politics, was the lying to cover the hookups and the using and emotional abuse. It wasn't the fact that Sam was sleeping around, its the fact that she was the last to know, usually through other people. And what a shitty feeling is that. So even if he still has trouble with the deep conversation portion or the relationship, as long as he isn't lying to her face on petty shit, she wont make a big deal about it. Maybe even jokes about it when he tells her. ("Oh, cool. So is that the one you were talking about organizing the threesome with?") And that is to say that although she herself isn't someone to sleep around, I could see her branching out herself, once or twice. Lol (also speaking of which if we are going down this road she 'll likely tell him about that whole relationship fiasco, get ready for that can of worms kysme)
